Update 2.0.0 of Unofficial Gay Fates is here! After over three years of working on this project, we've finally hit 2.0.0, and wanted to make this update a little more special. This update adds in a new title screen for the mod, changing the 'Fates' on the title screen to a rainbow. This is edited for each route of the game! In addition, the cutscene that plays upon attaining your first S support now has two gender-neutral figures, instead of a man and woman's. Big thanks to Tru for making both of these edits!

In addition, we've also added another paralogue edit, this time for Shigure. As both Jakob and Felicia appear in the intro depending on your Avatar's gender, there are two different variants. One for if Jakob is married to Azura, and another if Felicia is.

ch23 opens with one of the funniest moments in a video game ever despite the morbid conversation.

ryoma opens with something he's been pondering over.

extremely reasonable, and he's already pretty sharp for a FE protagonist for noticing this, and not glossing it over like corrin just did. (when ryoma x alphonse 'we notice shit no other FE lead does?' forging bonds in FEH?)

(worth noting that leo and takumi have probably been thinking about this too, but left the floor to ryoma to broach it with corrin, considering his closeness with scarlet.)

I'd probably agree if this shot was in a vacuum, but given the parallel of azura>possesed mom, and corrin>possessed(psuedo)dad, and the chronological order that this + the possessions are going in, plus some more angles below, I genuinely think this is intentional. "layers" of possession, if you will, and anankos steadily working his way closer to corrin's inner circle.

💝 for the writers ask meme!

💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

Oh, man. I've been surprised a few times in my life by the responses toward stories I've posted online, but a lot of that has come in hindsight. Like, the first darkfic (fic with dark themes?) I ever wrote got a shocking amount of attention (embarrassed to say this was a Tales of Symphonia story) and looking at it now I just...have no clue where all the love from readers came from or why.

For more recent fics, "All of Me" was just a random prompt I saw and yet it's the most popular thing I've written since 2014 by a wide, wide margin. "Pristine" was a similar experience: it's probably my second or third most popular story but it was a prompt someone kind of jokingly gave me to write! Pristine was fun in that I wrote it as a "twist" ending story (with foreshadowing) but I wasn't surprised by the fact that only about 50% of the readers figured it out before they got to the end; I fully anticipated that and consider the fic a success because of it. The wild part was just how much people seemed to like it.

For other stories that got weirdly positive reception when I didn't expect it: Softly (Frederick x Cordelia, FE13), Fools Rush In (Fiora x Eliwood, FE7), A Nohrian Grave in Hoshido (Ryoma x Scarlet, FE14) and The Bravest (Lyn & Eliwood, FE7). The rewrites of the FE7 and FE13 fics didn't get much traction but people don't comment like they did in the old days, so I'm not surprised.

Soliloquy (FE7 KentLyn) was about alcoholism and not only got a surprising amount of support from readers as it was being written, but someone even emailed me RECENTLY asking to reread it (as I deleted it in 2016). If you would have asked me how I felt about that story before I got the email asking to reread it, I would have said I was ashamed of it. I still can't reread it because I'm afraid of it being embarrassing but obviously it resonated with a few people out there.

Now I want a Rider X Pokemon to be a thing. Especially from what I'm hearing, there are a lot of Kamen Rider references in Scarlet & Violet

I didn't even know Shu Watanabe was involved with Pokemon until then. I knew Takeru Satoh was, he's been in ads for the card game, including one where he was teaching Dori Sakurada- aka Kotaro, Ryoutaro's grandson and Kamen Rider New Den-O- to play it. And of course, there was Ryoma Takeuchi who did a cameo in Detective Pikachu in addition to voicing Tim Goodman in the Japanese dub.

Honestly, the Pokemon-Kamen Rider Venn diagram is surprising... Like, recently Kouhei Takeda was posting a lot of Pokemon related stuff on his instagram... apparently, he really likes Quaxly? And Atsuhiro Inukai actually plays the games and collects the cards too- he streamed playing Brilliant Diamond and several card-unpacking videos on his Youtube channel.

I think the reference in Scarlet/Violet people are talking about is a particular Pokemon called Lokix, it's a Bug/Dark-type based off a grasshopper/locust. Supposedly, Bug-type being super effective against Dark-type is also a nod to Kamen Rider as well, since Dark-type is known as "Evil-type" in Japan.

Summary: Tired of simply waiting for the day Ryoma made a move, Scarlet gave him an ultimatum: To search up the meaning of the flower he gave her in the past as well as the one she gave him that night. May he finally realize his feelings!

 The evening Ryoma passed with Scarlet, going from bar to bar to 'research hoshidan booze' as the wyvern rider put, was the most pleasant one the King had had in... forever, most likely.

Being with Scarlet always brought him a comfort he never thought possible to feel, given his station and all that it entailed. It was as though he could be simply the man named Ryoma; not the Prince nor King nor older brother. Simply... Ryoma.

He didn't notice the huge grin he wore once he came back to his quarters. Despite having insisted that Scarlet stayed at the castle, as an official guest of the Crown, she had preferred to stay at a nearby inn instead.

"You pighead!" She nudged his chest, tipsy from all the drinking; an adorable rosy flush taking a permanent stay over her cheeks, highlighting her charming freckles. "Read that book first, ya hear?" She pointed, then turned her back to him.

The smile never leaving his face, Ryoma tilted his head to the side, wondering why she hadn't gone inside yet. "Scarlet?"

The wyvern rider pouted, looking at him over her shoulder. "... Good night." She almost stuttered, quickly regaining her smile. "Thaat's right! Good night!"

The alcohol most likely won against whatever battle she fought inside, making her weakly lift one arm, as though celebrating something. "I said it!" She whispered as Ryoma chuckled behind her.

The King placed both hands over her shoulders, guiding her to the open doorway. "Make sure to wash your face before going to bed, hm? Be careful with your step."

Scarlet puffed her cheeks, a turmoil exploding inside her chest. "Man, you're so dense. But I guess that's part of why I lo-lllaaa" she sobered up instantly, biting her tongue. "O-ouch, dad's bhy I beed do go do bed, yeahh," she stuck out her tongue, which bled.

"Scarlet!" Worried, Ryoma entered the inn with her, "I shall guide you to your room; you're in no condition to-"

"Oh bo, bister!" Scarlet gulped, tucking her tongue back in. "I'm fine. Go, leave. Shoo. Remember you got homework." She pushed him back outside, her steps no longer as tipsy as before. The shock of almost confessing brought her back to her senses better than any hangover medicine ever could.

"B-but..."

"No buts! Give me your reply tomorrow, ya hear? I'll be leaving before noon."

Once again he relaxed, somehow her strong pushes on his back making him not want to move. "Such a strict teacher!" He mused with a wide smile, turning to her.

"Aw, heck. This is no fair at all," she mumbled as he spoke, unaware of her low voice.

"Worry not; I'll be here before then to see you off. As much of a shame as I think that will be." His smile softened, a sudden urge to caress her face bubbling inside his chest. "I do so enjoy spending time with you, after all." He unconsciously reached out to her face.

"NOT FAIR AT ALL," she hissed.

"S-Scarlet?" He lifted both hands, as though caught in the act.

"You pighead!" She snorted, smacking his shoulder affectionately, the flush returning to her cheeks. "Go before I do something out of character!"

He couldn't not laugh in her presence. It was always so soothing and fulfilling. Complying, he returned to the castle with the same smile he wore as he sat seiza in front of his low table, carefully placing the daffodils by its corner.

Somehow, even thinking about such an odd 'homework' made him feel as though walking on clouds. He couldn't help but wonder how Scarlet could do such a thing -- to alleviate all the worries that had pestered him for months in a single night! Surely it would be a shame to say goodbye to her so soon.

A twinging pain on his chest made him wonder if the alcohol was getting to him as well, but he still skimmed through the book Scarlet had given him earlier that evening. It was organized alphabetically, so the daffodils came in first than the orange blossoms.

As his fingers followed through the letters, the smile slowly disappeared from his lips; dread grasping his heart with its cold hands.

 Daffodils - Symbolizes regard and chivalry. It is indicative of rebirth, new beginnings and eternal life. It also symbolizes unrequited love.

 "W-what is..." he frowned deeply, widening his eyes as he glanced from the book to the flowers, innocently watching over him. "Unrequited- lov-" He stuttered, gasping with the memory of Scarlet's words from earlier.

“Yeah, anyway. The flower you gave me, do you remember which kind it was?”

“Good, then you know.”

Holding his breath, the King hurriedly flipped through the pages, reaching the Orange Blossoms.

Orange Blossoms - Symbolizes innocence, eternal love, marriage and fruitfulness.

His eyes fell to the words, his heart thumping so loudly it almost escaped through his throat. Inadvertently, he placed one hand over his mouth in shock, not noticing the heat plastered across his face. "What an absolute fool!" He almost laughed. "How could I have given her so many expectations-"

Ryoma glanced to the daffodils, a smile fighting its way to his lips. "What an absolute fool...!" He whispered lovingly, carefully taking the flowers and placing them by his chest.

A rush of emotions followed as he almost felt Scarlet's warmth through the tender petals. 'You pighead!' Her voice ringed through his ears.

'Go before I do something out of character!' Her embarrassed smile made him want to touch her; to embrace her; 'I just need a bit of courage to let this out!'

Oh, Scarlet!

'Tough crowd, eh?' The way she mocked him to make him feel better; 'Ryoma!' The way she always called his name so naturally, and how it rolled so well in her tongue... He wanted to listen to it for all the time to come.

His heart a jumbling and thumping mess, Ryoma couldn't erase the wide smile from his face. He placed the flowers inside his haori, close to his chest and immediately went back to researching the book.

"Wait for me, Scarlet. I'm sorry it took me so long."

Needless to say, the King didn't sleep that night, engrossed in his research as well as flower-gathering. He walked high and low through the castle gardens, book in hand, looking for the appropriate gifts to name his feelings with.

As dawn approached, Ryoma's excitement skyrocketed, his feet taking him out of the castle during the change in guard shift.

First, he walked; but soon, his steps hurried him towards the inn he had left not six hours previously, wanting oh so very much to meet that adorable set of freckles and everything wonderful that accompanied them.

"Scarlet!" Ryoma slammed the sliding door to the inn with more force than necessary, startling the clerk and some early risers who were ready for breakfast.

"M-my Lord?" The innkeeper panicked. The person who took the night shift never told her about the King himself visiting, so she took it with its due surprise.

Breathing heavily from the exercise, Ryoma never lost his smile. "Where's Scarlet?" He walked inside without waiting for instructions, his feet somehow taking him to the right direction.

The poor woman barely stuttered a reply before a loud "AH!" could be heard through the corridors.

"Ryoma?! What're you doing here so early?! Geez, no sense of awareness or whatsoever- Huh?"

His chest about to burst with happiness from finally seeing Scarlet in the flesh again, and not a construct from his memories, Ryoma quickly gave her the bouquet he held behind his back: it was composed mostly of Forget-me-nots and red Camellias, a yellow Chrysanthemum carefully placed in the middle.

"Forgive me it took so long for me to realize, Scarlet. I must've put you through so very much..." He apologized without erasing his smile, his body leaning forward.

The wyvern rider looked all around, embarrassed to death for being seen by so many people; but most of all overjoyed to the point of tears. "This is..." She carefully took the large bouquet, trailing her fingers through all the petals.

"Forget-me-nots and Camelias mean-" He began; slowly, ever so slowly, bending forward a bit more.

"I know what they mean." She cut him off, chewing on her lower lip so as to control her tears. "But why's a Chrysanthemum...? The meaning's completely different from those two..."

The inn around them burst into action, some women swooning while the men whistled.

Neither of them seemed to notice, however.

Ryoma finally took the knee, taking Scarlet's hand on both of his. "Yellow Chrysanthemums are given to the people the members of the hoshidan Royal Family intend to marry." He enjoyed how her embarrassed expression reddened even more, to a point that he could almost see smoke coming out of her face. "Will you marry me, dear Scarlet? Apparently, I've loved you for quite a while."

"Oh, freaking FINALLY!" Scarlet jumped onto his arms, diving into his lips for a much-needed, belated and oh so very sweet kiss. "Of course I will, you stupid Ryoma!"
