@cyberends Sent: A tloz: twilight princess (manga) starter (Accepting!)
❝ i was lost without you. i was lonely. ❞ ( hey so how about some ryo asuka feels in the club tonight )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She had been meaning to visit him sooner. Really, she did. Unfortunately, her responsibilities as a student and a leader in the Obelisk Blue dorms had taken precedence ever since their return from the alternate dimension. Asuka is sure Ryo understands this. Those same responsibilities were ones he had to shoulder through his years at this school, after all.
Still, she couldn't help but feel guilty, especially after hearing his words upon her arrival to his private living quarters. Ryo had difficulties expressing his emotions, but miraculously, she was able to understand them in one way or another. This, of course, meant she understood tonight's plea, too, seeing the desperation and sorrow in his voice and body language from his position in his wheelchair.
It was clear he needed her. It was clear he wanted her near. And Asuka didn't intend on leaving his side, not until she had to once the sun rose the following morning.
Tumblr media
"And I missed you, Ryo." She kneels down in front of him to get on his level, her head moving so her chin is now resting in his lap as she looks up at him. "I'm...I'm sorry I couldn't come until now. You know how lost the Obelisk girls are without me around. Plus, Chronos went back to giving us all a massive amount of homework despite having just come back from...the mess that trip we all went on."
The Obelisk then reaches her hand up to gently cusp his cheek, drawing tiny circles in it with her thumb. "I...I just hope I can make it up to you, now. I'm yours for the rest of the night, and I made sure to let everyone know not to contact me till tomorrow."

The melting snow pained the scene he had in mind just perfectly. He'd been planning this trip for months; documenting everything from surveillance to which back routes to take to avoid prying eyes. His leather bag was packed as much as it could take with everything he thought he'd need and more. A couple bottles of water. A cup to pour it in. Watercolor paints. Pencils. Pens. A sketchbook. Salt. Tea candles. A small pocket knife. A little black book. And so much more. It just so happened that he had a short work day and nothing going on tomorrow, so tonight made the perfect opportunity.
The only thing breaking the silence encompassing the twilight skies was the soft crunch of leftover ice and twigs on the forest path. Should be around here somewhere, unless whoever owned this finally had the sense to build a fence or just tear it down. Just as he was about to give up on it, the tip of something caught his eye. A wooden, crumbling tip of a cross, to be more exact. Ah. There it is. He knew they wouldn't be stupid enough to touch it. A renewed confidence took over as he picked up his pace to get there before anyone had a chance of seeing him. Didn't really want to explain what the hell he was doing here at this hour.
Tumblr media
The door nearly came off with Ryo's gentle pull. The rusted lock practically disintegrated with the cautious; nearly non-existent tug. It must've been left to rot for a while if it was falling apart this easily. Normally, Ryo wouldn't touch a church with a ten-foot pole after a particular incident, but the building itself really wasn't what he was here for.
It was the graveyard it was attached to.
It was Ryo's Monster World M.O.; every board he ever made had one somewhere on it. No matter how unnecessary it was. His footsteps echoed through the silent outer chamber as he took in the area. The stained glass was shattered; but the pieces were nowhere to be found. The pews were covered in cobwebs; moth-eaten bibles abandoned where they lay. Even the hanging chandelier had seen better days; loosely swaying from the ceiling by a severely rusted chain. That shit could fall on him if he wasn't careful. Dancing around the very obvious danger zone, he scuffled to the back to peer out from behind the holes punctured in the desecrated cathedral glass. The general silence of the graveyard, save for the occasional muffled passage of cars, was soothing to him. It was comforting, knowing it was just him and the dead in a damned place like this. Honestly, he didn't even know what drove him to come inside in the first place; it was windy and cold out there (plus he was certain he saw someone slow down a little too much when passing by) but it wasn't intolerable!
Ah, to hell with it. Might as well make use of the place if he's going to be here.
He sat himself down in one of the pews, not particularly minding how much it creaked when he did. His leather bag was removed and sat next to him so he could start digging things out. Now, where'd he put that sketchbook...

Alright, eps 4-7.
Ayaka would've been an incredible reocurring character.
Her character arc was handled pretty well, for a two ep miniarc.
And I ship Ikki/Ayaka.
Might eventually make an AU that keeps her around.
The Influencer guy was a great choice for a victim of the week.
Worked quite well.
It's weird how Kagerou still managed to trick me.
I thought it was the Chameleon pretending to be Hiromi, rather than it being Kagerou, pretending to be Daiji, stealing Hiromi's card key.
The Students thing was quite an emotional trip, too.
First, I didn't realise it was a Phase 2 Deadman, and thus thought it was just the three we saw.
Then, they say it, and introduce a fourth possible boy.
Then, the whole thing with #4 having moved abroad, and the missing father.
But, Kagerou has been properly introduced to the Audience, and Hiromi Parker has become SpiderDemons, so Fun is to be had.
I say, knowing Vail's slowly draining Hiromi.
But him being Demons is so exhilirating!
My boy Parker having Great Power and Great Responsibility.
This is all for tonight..
(Imagine Vice doing some stupid pose here)
Ikki that Ayaka whole arc: SHe'S JuSt a FriEnD
(Absolutely convincing, my dude. And I'm not a simp for Ryo Aoki...)
Hiromi, my Hiromi... Honestly, I didn't think I'd like him all that much, but now... *blushes thinking about him and his (Junya's) smile* Still the one and only Kamen Rider Demons in my mind and heart.
I think Chameleon was still lying low at the time, too wary to make a move that will cast suspicion on him. Plus, he was more useful in distracting the Riders by sending them off to deal with small-time MotWs while he and the other Deadmans focused on bigger things.
I do wonder how Daiji/Kagerou ever got close enough to Hiromi to swipe his ID card, though. Hiromi doesn't seem like the type to just lose important items like that, so maybe he notes where Hiromi stores it when he's off duty or showering or something, then just brings it back where he found it when he's done?

𝓐𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓵 (Ryo Asuka x plus size reader) 𝓟𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓮 2
Tumblr media
Part one
And finally here is the second chapter of my new ryo fanfic, I hope you like it and enjoy it, soon I will bring the third chapter. I LOVE YOU IMMENSELY <3<3<3<3
𝓦𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 : none maybe fluff
✥——————-✥——————-✥                ✥——————-✥——————-✥
Some weeks passed and you, Akira and Ryo spent hours investigating demons, it was scary to think that anyone could be a demon and you didn’t know, however it was funny to be you taking care of Akira or Ryo whenever they got hurt, you felt like you were still 8 years old.
You left school and it was already dark, it was raining a lot ‘I love the rain but it could stop raining a little until I got home’ you thought while you opened your backpack looking for the umbrella.
You opened it and walked putting the earphones and opening in the spotify, the street was calm, it was relaxing to see the rain fall and to see the reflection of the light in the water pools, but it was still scary.
Lost in your thoughts you didn’t notice that a car had stopped right next to you, distracted you looked and scared when you saw the door opening next to you, you looked inside the car and recognized the white coat and the cigarette smell.
“Ryo? What are you doing here?” you asked confused because you saw him there, you looked at the back of the car, but he wasn’t there.
“Akira asked me to pick you up, he won’t be home tonight and we have work to do” Ryo said with one expression would be
“O-oh I get it” you got in the car putting the bag in the back seat, and you noticed a black sports bag “What’s in there?” you asked
“Clothes for you, let’s spend the night out, let’s go to the coast area, I have information of strange activity there” he said not taking his eyes off the road
“But I didn’t warn Miki-” you said picking up the phone but you were interrupted
“She knows you’re with me, she said you went to spend the weekend with a friend and forgot to tell her,” Ryo said taking the vape pen.
“You really should stop smoking that thing, it’s not good for you” you said leaning your head on your arm looking out for the lights and for rain hitting the window
“Want to try it out?” Ryo said stretching the pen in your direction you could see his smile even though you didn’t look directly at him “Okay, but that’s only because I never expressed anything like that,” you said, picking up the pen by putting it in your mouth, inhaling and feeling the smoke going down your throat, choking on feeling the smoke coming out your nose.
Ryo laughed when he saw your reaction, he took the pen out of your hand and made the same movement you had made, he was used to it so it wasn’t strange to him nor did he make you choke.
“Don’t mock me! arghh” you protested about his reaction
“Don’t worry, I will teach you not to choke,” he said, breathing out the smoke through his lips.
At that moment your heart stopped, the street light, the wind entering the car through the window, the sound of rain, the smoke coming out of his mouth, his serious look concentrated on the road…this sensation made your heart accelerate, you felt your face burn…he was hypnotizing.
“What was it?” he asked softly
“N-nothing” you said by looking away and continuing to look at the lights, feeling your body relax and fall asleep
𝓡𝔂𝓸 𝓟𝓸𝓿
It was very calm, I looked to the side and saw her sleepy face, I pulled the car to the side of the road and put my coat over her…In so few weeks I got to know her again, it was strange to have her around at the beginning, but now…. Now I feel that I need her by our side, I touched her face with my fingers, she looked tired, I don’t blame her after so long spending nights awake studying and investigating more about demons it’s natural that her body needs to relax.
I got out of the car and leaned on the hood, took a cigarette out of my pocket and took the opportunity to smoke before continuing the trip, I don’t want the smoke to wake her up.
In a few minutes I got in the car and continued traveling, I could already smell the sea nearby, we should be almost there, I looked at her at a glance and felt my heart accelerate her hands were grabbing my coat pulling it closer to her.
I ignored this feeling and fixed my eyes on the road… it was the first time I felt like this because I saw her do that, am I gaining weaknesses?
“Fuck Y/n what are you doing to me” I sighed
𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓟𝓸𝓿
It was all dark, the only thing you can remember was a silhouette, with several wings, blond hair and two crystalline blue eyes? you saw the silhouette walking towards you, when it was close enough it raised its hand to your face, its touch was soft and sweet like an angel? you closed your eyes and felt tears fall on your face.
“Y/n…” his voice, you recognized that voice…
You woke up in shock, you looked at the window and saw the immense ocean illuminated by the moon, you looked around you and saw Ryo sitting on the hood of the car, you could see the smoke coming out of his mouth, in just one gesture he threw his cigarette to the ground and put it out with his foot.
He turned around and saw your face awake:
“I was going to wake you up, come on, we’re here” he said, opening the trunk of the car and removing a suitcase similar to yours, and a larger bag, to be honest it seemed a little suspicious, but good we’re talking about Ryo, surely he brings weapons in there.
You got out of the car and you walked and you removed your suitcase following him to the hotel entrance. It was a small hotel, it was more a hostel than a hotel, it was right by the beach, and it had a fantastic view, it seemed cozy, but why would a demon choose a place like this to attack?
They entered the reception of the small hostel and were soon received by a lady with black hair, her clothes were traditional, she looked at us and smiled:
“Good evening, how can I help you tonight?” she asked, her voice was soft as a bird’s song
“Good evening” Ryo smiled and said “We wanted a room” You looked around the place, you had a small sale of souvenirs and postcards, you looked again at ryo who was still talking to the lady, you approached to listen better “Yes a double room please” DOUBLE?! you felt your face burning “Ahm…we don’t have rooms with separate beds I apologize” she said looking at the computer screen, 'Please ma'am can you check again’ you yelled internally
“Don’t worry, we’ll take the room anyway” Ryo said smiling and stretching his hand to get the room key, the lady smiled and opened the drawer taking the room key and handing it over
“Have a nice stay,” she said before we retired to our room “We stayed in room 306 is on the top floor” He said walking, and opening the elevator, you remain silent feeling your face warm and your breath accelerated, Ryo looks at you at a glance and smirks “I promised Akira I wouldn’t let you out of my sight for a second, he’ll be here by the end of the afternoon” The elevator stopped and opened on the floor of your room.
the rest of the way to the room was quiet, why were you feeling nervous after all? For him you were just a childhood friend, there was no reason to be nervous, still lost in your thoughts you two had reached the room.
Ryo opened the door and the room was really cozy, it was rustic style, there was a bed in the center of the room on the wall,  a balcony that you could see the ocean, there was a small bathroom, it wasn’t a luxurious room but it was a perfect room to sleep in.
You put your bags down and walked to the window that led to the small balcony, it was still raining but the view was fantastic.
“You stay here, if you feel like it, I’ll take a look at the area, try to go to bed early please” Ryo said taking something from inside the bag, and without being able to answer he had already left the room.
You took a deep breath and looked once more through the window before you walked towards the suitcase and picked up some clothes and towels to go to bath. You turned on the light and opened the hot water and let the bathtub fill up while you undressed… you looked at your body in the mirror…  "It’s natural that no one wants to look at me differently, no one finds someone like me attractive" you said, looking at your body… you were always very insecure, you were always ashamed of how inferior you felt to other girls, for not having a big breasts or an angelic body, you looked down to your thighs… you could still see some scars from some cuts you had made months ago, something that no one knew and would never know….
Your body trembled as you felt the hot water covering you, it felt good to have a moment to rest, in the midst of all that demon-hunting, you threw your head backwards feeling your muscles relaxing because of the hot water.
“Why did I have to have these feelings for him…” You sighed
Minutes passed by, you got out of the water and wrapped your body in the towel leaving your wet hair to dry naturally, you opened the door carefully, Ryo hadn’t arrived yet, you took advantage of that moment to let your body fall into the bed, you faced the ceiling, you still felt your heart jumping because you knew you were going to sleep in the same bed as Ryo, of course for him it made no difference but for you it was something you never thought you would do with him.
You put on a hoddie and some shorts and opened the balcony, you leaned your body against the parapet and watched the reflection of the moon in the ocean was enchanting, you thought about your dream earlier, who would that person be?
𝓡𝔂𝓸 𝓟𝓸𝓿
It was almost midnight, I managed to find some traces of demons in that area, tomorrow morning I’ll investigate a little more, I entered the hotel and everything was very calm.
I opened the bedroom door, it was all dark, I looked at the bed waiting to find Y/n sleeping, but her body wasn’t there, I looked around the room… until I saw her silhouette on the balcony, her wet hair, her body just covered by the hoddie she was wearing, without intention my gaze traveled through her body the way she was leaving my body tense, she seemed hypnotized by the moon, I walked without making much noise and put myself beside her
“The sea is more beautiful this time of year” She was frightened by my comment
“R-ryo, I didn’t realize you had arrived” she said with a slightly embarrassed smile, her hand was resting on her chest, my eyes went through her body, but something called my attention… scars… She noticed what my eyes had seen and turned forward pulling the hoddie down. “So how did the investigation go?” she asked before I could talk about the scars that marked her body
“It went well… I found out that there really are traces of demons here, tomorrow morning we’ll take the chance to investigate a little more” I said by taking a cigarette out of my pocket and putting it in my mouth
“Oh of course…” she said turning her gaze forward, I looked at her discreetly, a sudden urge to touch her invaded my body… I can’t do it, I can’t do it at all, it will just distract me from my main goal. but for some reason I can’t control my body, I try to control myself but I can’t anymore…
𝓨𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓟𝓸𝓿
You felt the sea breeze, the waves crashing against the rocks, it was a sound that left you calm, you closed your eyes to feel a little more of this peace, when you opened your eyes again, you turned to Ryo but his gaze was already turned to you without you knowing.
“R-ryo?” His body approached yours, his hand touched your face lightly, putting a lock of hair behind your ear, his fingers ran across your face until you reached your jawline, his eyes intertwined with yours, you felt your heart beating fast, it was like a dream, his fingers wandered around your neck, down to your shoulder.
“Turn around” he whispered in your ear, you were hypnotized by him and without thinking twice your body reacted of its own accord, you turned your body leaving your back to him.
His hands continued to go down your body to your waist hugging you from behind, his head landed on your shoulder, raised his hand dragging your hair to the side. Without realizing it, you closed your eyes until you felt his lips on your neck, making you shiver at his touch. His kisses kept going up until your ear came up.
“I don’t know what you’re doing to me, but I wasn’t supposed to have these reactions towards you” he stopped “let me hold you tonight, I… I just want to feel you close to me” you couldn’t say anything just nodded and turned to him.
He took you in his lap and took you to bed, where he laid you down carefully as if you were made of glass, he lay down beside you pulling you close to him, you put your head on his chest, feeling his heart, his arms wrapped you, in a short time you felt your gaze getting heavy and finally you fell asleep.
You felt the sun hitting your face, you opened your eyes with difficulty due to the clarity in the room, you looked away and didn’t see anyone, in a flash your memory remembered the events of last night, you blushed violently looking up.
“Why did he do that?”

Samsaric - Chapter 3
Read on AO3
First Chapter — Previous Chapter — Next Chapter
Foudroyant
[Foudroyant—adj. 1: striking as with lightning; sudden and overwhelming in effect 2: As of disease, beginning in a sudden and severe form]
It was official; we were homeless.
Packing up our things had barely taken ten minutes, not to mention that I had hurried due to the evil glared focused on me the entire time. Then the Matron had escorted us through the back entrance, reminded us of her leg-breaking threat, and had slammed the door in our faces. Naruto clung to my hand as we left the property. I tried to ignore the way I was steadily losing feeling in my fingertips and instead focused on the consequences of what had just happened. Then, even though I hated the idea, I settled on our only current option.
“We need to talk to Oyaji.”
So after several wrong turns, five new swear words I learned from some ever-so-kind civilians, and a total of twenty-three complaints from my brother about his feet hurting, we made it to the Tower. Only to have one of the desk chunin turn us away at the front door.
“The Hokage is busy.”
“But we really need to talk to him,” I said, keeping half of my attention on Naruto’s chakra signature. He’d chosen to wait on a bench outside with our things. “It’s important!”
“He’s in a very important meeting,” the chunin said, the annoyance in his gaze increasing. “You can’t speak to him right now.”
“Later?”
“He’s preparing for a journey to Suna tomorrow, so you won’t be able to speak to him until he comes back.”
I blinked slowly. A trip to Suna? “But I—”
“Leave.”
I snapped my mouth shut and frowned at him. “Fine.” I marched outside and snatched up our bags, crossing the straps across my chest to balance the weight. “C’mon, Nato. We gotta find somewhere to stay tonight.”
He moaned but followed obediently, saying nothing as I dug through our wallets and totaled up the money we had from our birthday a year ago. 30 ryo. A scowl etched its way across my face. That wouldn’t be enough to rent a hotel room even for a few minutes, let alone a week, which was the bare minimum of time until the Hokage’s return. I racked my head for ideas before resigning myself to what had to happen with a sigh.
“Let’s go find a cardboard box or something,” I muttered.
Naruto glanced sideways at me, his baby blue eyes glinting with curiosity. “What was that, Rai?”
I shook my head. “Nothing. Let’s, um . . . .” I turned in what I remembered to be the market district, which held both restaurants and stores. When we got there, we weaved through the crowd. Naruto stared around in wonder as I glanced down every alley we passed, looking for something that might serve as acceptable shelter. “Here.” I tugged on his hand and pulled him down an alley between a clothing store and a takeout shop.
Naruto glanced around, wrinkling his nose at the smell from the dumpster. “Rai, why are we here?”
I started stacking the old, damp boxes to form some semblance of a roof so that we’d be relatively protected. “We can’t talk to Oyaji, we can’t go back to the orphanage, and we can’t rent a hotel room. So we’re going to have to stay here.”
He snapped his gaze to me. “Here?”
I nodded, gagging at the smell from the garbage. “Just until we can talk to Oyaji.” I sat down and began digging through our bags. “Here, you color, okay? I’m going to get us some food.” I snatched up my wallet. I didn’t walk too far away, making sure that I could still sense my brother’s shining chakra. I entered the grocery store across the street, walking right past the front counter and towards the bread. Something snatched at the back of my shirt and I found myself tossed backwards. I stumbled and fell onto my rear. “Hey, what—” I looked up and snapped my mouth shut, meeting the angry gaze of the store clerk who was leaning over me.
He jabbed a finger harshly at one of my whisker marked cheeks. “I won’t have none of you little monsters running through my store, understand? Get!” He threw the door open and his foot snapped out against my side. I whimpered and scrambled out onto the street.
Huddling outside the door, I tried to calm the involuntary trembling in my limbs. I thumbed a finger across my marked cheeks. Well, desperate times called for desperate measures, after all.
— — — — —
Stealing was an art. It was difficult, too easy to get caught. I had more than enough encounters with my angry victims. It was, however, plenty of motivation to do the job quickly, cleanly, and without leaving any evidence behind.
I considered myself a pro within a week.
Even though our so-called ‘house’ was dirty, wet, and didn’t particularly smell good, it became our home base. We settled in a routine that was similar to the one we’d had at the orphanage, but also different in glaringly obvious ways. I still started my day off earlier than Naruto, meditating and training before waking him up. We’d work through our stretches and kata together and then I’d spend a good half hour teaching him how to read and write. By the time we were done with that, our stomachs would growl loudly, and that was where the similarities stopped.
Naruto would, by my direction, continue practicing his reading. I, however, would find a mark, swipe that day’s money, and return to our base. After correcting him where he was wrong, I would uncover what I had dubbed as my ‘disguise kit.’ In reality, it was just makeup brushes, concealer, and a cheap mirror all shoved together in a cosmetic bag I’d stolen a few days before. The first day I had covered my whisker marks, it had taken me an hour to do it properly. But due to my experiences with makeup in my previous life, I quickly had that time down to less than three minutes.
With my distinguishing Kyuubi marks hidden, I would tuck my crimson hair up into my beanie and march right into the grocery store and buy whatever we needed to eat for that day. After that, our routine was looser. Sometimes I would spend more time teaching him, others I would concentrate on meditation and chakra training. Today, however, was different than that.
I wiped off the makeup on my cheeks with the same dirty rag I’d been using all week. “Hey, Nato, it’s been a week. So we should go to the Tower and see if Oyaji is back.”
He looked up from the picture of the Valley of the End that he was coloring. “Jiji?”
“Yep.” I gathered our things into our bags and slung them over my shoulders. Then I held my hand out to him. “We’ll come back later, okay?
He nodded and took my hand, skipping alongside me as we made our way to the Tower. Just like last time, he waited outside with our things while I went inside. I glanced around the room of chunin before I spotted a familiar head of long, spiky hair. “Kamano-san!” I cheered, bounding up to him. “Is Hokage-sama back, yet?”
He stared blankly at me for a moment. “No . . . .”
My heart dropped and I sighed. “Ah, okay.” Then I cocked my head to the side. “You were here at lunchtime last time too. Do you always work during lunchtime?”
He grunted. I took it as a yes.
“That’s sad. Don’t you get hungry?”
He shrugged.
I mused on that for a moment. “Do you like ramen?”
He raised an eyebrow. “I guess.”
“Cool! I like ramen too.” With that, I skipped out of the Tower. “C’mon, Nato, Oyaji isn’t back yet.”
The next day was similar, right up to the point where we started off to the Tower. “Do you want to get ramen?”
He looked up from the bag he was packing. Then his eyes lit up. “Ramen? I wanna get ramen, dattebayo!”
I giggled and patted him on the head, noting awkwardly that I was actually taller than him, if barely. “Alright, then, let’s go!”
We made our way to Ichiraku’s and climbed up onto the stools. “One salt and one miso, please, Teuchi-san.”
The man beamed at us. “Ah, two of my favorite little customers. Coming right up.”
While we waited, I turned Naruto’s attention to me as I traced kanji out for him on the counter. He frowned in concentration, trying to do the same. I giggled when he messed up for the sixth time and crossed his arms, pouting. “It’s alright, Nato, you’ll get it.”
“One salt and one miso!”
I breathed in the smell of the delicious food before slurping it down almost as quickly as Naruto. He hopped down, but I turned to Teuchi. “Can I have a salt ramen to go, please?” I asked, counting out the money and setting it on the bar.
“Of course.”
It took only a moment for him to whip it together, then he packed it up in a box and handed it to me. “There you go, Mirai-chan.”
“Arigato!” I jumped down and took Naruto’s hand. With that done, we started off for the Tower. I slung off our bags and set them on the bench. “I’ll be out in a little while, okay? Wait here and color.”
He nodded and I moved inside. “Kamano-san!” I chirped, skipping over to him. I set the box of ramen on his desk and pushed it towards him. “Is Hokage-sama back yet?”
“No.” He sniffed at the aroma coming from the box curiously. “What’s that?”
I beamed up at him. “I brought you ramen, Kamano-san.”
“Why?” he asked, pulling it towards himself and opening it up.
“I thought you’d be hungry.”
He didn’t say anything, pulling apart the chopsticks and digging into his meal. I stood still, waiting for him to finish. When he was done, he set the styrofoam cup back in the box and wrinkled his nose at me. “Kami, you smell. When was the last time you took a bath?”
I realized that he was right—Naruto and I hadn’t washed up since we were at the orphanage. But I didn’t let him see that it bothered me. Instead I beamed at him and snatched up the box. “I’ll see you later, Kamano-san!”
I tossed the box in the trash as I left and stepped outside, instantly snatching up the bags. “Alright, let’s go, Nato!”
That afternoon, I swiped more money and bought soap, two towels, two new sets of clothes, and a pair of scissors. I packed those things into our bags with everything else and pulled Naruto to his feet. “C’mon.”
He blinked at me curiously. “Where are we going?”
“We’re going to go get clean,” I told him. The bewildered look those words earned me made me laugh and I pulled him down the street. Before long, we found the more forested area of the village. I followed my nose to the part of Naka River that flowed through Konoha. “Here!”
Naruto cocked his head to the side. “What is it?”
“This is a river,” I told him, kneeling down and unpacking our things. “Get undressed. We’re gonna take a bath.” I stripped down and wrinkled my nose at the smelly clothes before tossing them aside. I waded into the cool water and shivered. Naruto waded in next to me. “Scrub down,” I ordered him, cupping water in my hands and rubbing the dirt from my skin with my knuckles. When I was done with that, I grabbed the soap. “‘kay. Wash up!” I ordered, squeezing it across Naruto’s shoulders and then into my hands.
He squealed as it oozed across his skin, but obediently began cleaning. I sudsed it through my hair and and dropped down into the clear water to wash it all off, sighing as I felt clean for the first time in what could’ve been weeks. On my knees with the water up to my chin, I stared at Naruto for a moment. A grin wormed its way across my face. “Water fight!” I screamed, suddenly splashing him.
He squeaked in surprise and tumbled backwards. It took a moment for what I’d done to register, then he grinned. “Splash!” he yelled, slapping his hands against the water and sending a wave my way. From there, we dissolved into a giant water war. When we were done, Naruto stepped out of the water, shivering. I wrapped a towel around my shoulders and tossed one to him with a quick order of, “Dry off.” Once we’d both done so, we changed into the new clothes I’d gotten. Then I held up the scissors and pointed at him. “Alright, time for a haircut.”
He stared at me for a moment before kneeling down at my direction. I combed through his still-damp hair with my fingers and began clipping away with skill earned through experience in my past life. When I was done, I rinsed my hands off in the river and then ruffled his shorter locks. “There you go.”
He beamed up at me then scrambled back to his coloring book as I sat down and cut my own hair. I didn’t cut it quite as short as his, choosing instead to cut it to just below my ears and then pull it back into two short pigtails. With all that done, I began sorting though our things and packing them away.
“Rai?”
The warble in Naruto’s voice caught my attention and I set down the blanket I was folding and turned to him. The pensive look on his face made me frown. “Hai, Nato?”
“When we gonna have a home again?”
I had to look away from his sad expression or I knew I would run the risk of crying. So I turned back to our things, picking up my wallet. “I don’t know. Probably when Oyaji gets back.”
“Are we . . . are we monsters?”
I dropped my wallet and it tumbled to the ground spilling its contents. I whipped around to face him. “No,” I said firmly. His eyes widened and I realized how angry I had sounded. I softened my voice. “No, Nato. We’re not monsters. Some people are just . . . confused.”
“Then . . . why don’t we have a home?”
I smiled sadly. “We’ve just had some really, really bad luck. It’ll get better. I promise.”
He nodded and hunched over his coloring book, though he didn’t move to pick up his crayon again. I turned back to my wallet and began collecting the things it had dropped. I paused over our library cards. And then I got an idea.
— — — — —
“Bye, Kamano-san! I’ll see you tomorrow!” I tossed the ramen box in the trash and skipped outside. “C’mon, Nato! We’re going to the library!” I swept up the one bag I’d managed to fit all our things in.
He eyed me curiously. “The library?”
“Yep! It’s nicer than sittin’ under all those crates, right?”
“I guess.” He stumbled after me for a moment before matching my fast pace. “We gonna sleep in the library?”
I frowned. “I don’t think we can, Nato. It probably closes at night. Tell you what. Do you want to sleep by the river again? It wasn’t too bad last night, was it?”
He shook his head. “It’s nicer than the boxes, dattebayo.” He glanced around at the people we passed by and then huddled in on himself.
I frowned at him and followed his gaze to the villagers that were glaring at us. A scowl pulled at my face and I paused a step behind him. I snarled at the offenders, curling my lips back to give them a clear view of my unusually sharp canines. They glanced away uncomfortably and, satisfied, I caught up with Naruto again. “This way.” I grabbed his hand and steered him in the right direction. “You can work on your reading and writing while we’re there. Or you could color. And there’s a lot of stories!”
He lit up. “Really?”
“Yep! And they have pictures to help you read.” I skipped up the steps of the building and sighed happily when we got inside. Then I walked right up to the front desk. “Konichiwa, Kobayashi-san,” I said, careful to keep my voice quiet. “Where are the children’s books?”
She lowered her glasses from her nose and they hung loosely around her neck, held there by an ornate chain. “Aisles 17 and 18.”
I glanced over my shoulder at the large signs numbering the aisles. “Arigato.” Still holding on to Naruto’s hand, I led him to aisle 17. A grin touched my face when I saw that, cleverly placed between aisles 16 and 17, there sat a reading area complete with several comfy chairs and a table. “Alright, Nato, you can get some books and sit down to read them. I’m going to go get my own and I’ll be right back, okay?”
He glanced around nervously and his grip tightened on my hand. I hummed in the back of my throat and ruffled his hair. “I promise I won’t be long, okay? And I’ll still be able to hear you.”
He cocked his head to the side. “Hear my cha-ka-ra?”
I giggled. “Exactly. I’ll be able to hear your chakra.” Then I pointed at the closest bookcase of picture books and gently pushed him towards it. “I won’t be long.” Before he could protest again, I wandered away. It was difficult to find the aisles I needed—Konoha didn’t exactly run on the Dewey Decimal System—but eventually I found row after row of bookcases that held textbooks for civilian schools. Selecting a few First Year textbooks, I made my way back over to where Naruto was. I found him curled up in one of the reading chairs, a stack of books on the table and a large picture book in his lap. He looked up and grinned at me before returning to his story.
I laid my textbook—one studying language—out on the ground. During my last life, I’d studied and trained for my martial arts tournaments at the same time almost as a habit, so there was no reason that I couldn’t do the same here. After all, I wanted to protect Naruto, but all the foreknowledge in the world wouldn’t help me if I lacked strength. So I dropped down to the floor in pushup position and began reading as I exercised.
“Uh, Rai?”
I was halfway through the second page when he interrupted and I kept my pushups going as I glanced up at him. “Hai . . . Nato?” I asked, trying to regulate my breathing.
He squinted at me. “Whatcha doing?”
“Training.”
He stared at me in silence for a moment before shrugging and returning to his own book. I giggled and looked down at the page again. When I reached the end, I breathed deeply and lifted myself on one hand. But as I reached to turn the page, my working arm trembled and gave way. I caught myself on my elbows and groaned. “Screw that,” I muttered. I turned the page and lifted myself again. Up, down, up, down, up, down.
I was two thirds of the way through the text book when my muscles refused to work anymore. I’d done more pushups at once that I’d ever been able to do in my last life, but I was also in a much smaller body augmented by chakra and that had already been conditioned by the morning exercise I’d been doing for years. With a sigh, I lifted the book onto the coffee table and began jogging in place as I read.
“Still training?” Naruto asked curiously, looking up from his coloring book.
“Yep,” I said, still reading the text.
“Why?”
I looked up at that and grinned at the look on his face. “Because I want to be a strong shinobi.”’
He nodded slowly. And then he turned his coloring book towards me and pointed at the Hokage Mountain picture he was coloring. For some reason, the Shodaime was pink. “I wanna be Hokage.”
I slowed my steps before I finally came to a stop. “Oh? Why’s that?”
“‘Cause everyone likes him, right? I want everyone to like me. And he’s strong and really, really smart and he takes care of everyone.” He looked contemplative, chewing on the red crayon he was holding. “I wanna take care of you.”
That made me stare at him. Then, ever so slowly, I reached out and pulled the crayon away from his mouth. “You’ll get sick if you eat that,” I murmured.
He blinked and looked at me. Then he grinned and returned to his coloring, as if he hadn’t just said something that had cracked my current worldview.
He wanted to take care of me? But I was the responsible one, the one always caring for him. Even thinking of it being the other way around was . . . wrong. But still, I felt something oddly warm in my chest at the thought and I smiled at him. “Thank you, Nato.”
He gave me an odd, confused look, and he clearly didn’t understand. But that was okay. Because I did.
— — — — —
I pulled myself up and sat on the edge of Saisu’s desk, swinging my legs lazily as I glanced around the room. The chunin slurped loudly on his ramen next to me and I sighed. “Ne, Kamano-san?”
He paused and looked up at me, a string of noodles still hanging out of his mouth and broth splash across his face. He made a grunting sound at the back of his throat that I translated as, “Huh?”
I giggled and shoved a handful of napkins at him. As the teen swallowed the mouthful of food he had and wiped his face, I asked, “Are you always a desk chunin at the Tower? Doesn’t it get boring?”
He shrugged. “There aren’t any permanent desk chunin. We’re just all on desk leave.”
I squinted at him, never having heard the term before. “Desk leave?”
“Mandatory leave of absence from the field. At least once every two years, for about three months. For chunin, at least. It’s like a break, but you still work.”
“Ah.”
With that, I let him return to his ramen. I passed the next few minutes by listening to the steady hum of Naruto’s bright chakra just outside the building. Every few moments, it would shrink back and I knew he was paying attention to the villager’s glares again. I grit my teeth and hopped off the desk, gathering up the leftovers from Saisu’s meal. “I’ll see you tomorrow!” Without waiting for an answer, I tossed the trash away and dashed outside. Sure enough, Naruto was huddled on the bench with his coloring book and box of crayons neatly put away next to him. His arms were wrapped tightly around his knees and his head was bowed.
“Nato,” I murmured, sinking onto the seat next to him. Almost as if he’d been waiting for me, he instantly curled into my side and wrapped his arms firmly around me. “Just ignore them,” I whispered. “It’ll get better. I promise. We just have to work for it.”
He didn’t react, so I just let him sit quietly for a while as I carded my fingers through his hair. Finally, he rasped, “When’s Jiji gonna be back? It’s been forever.”
I giggled. “It hasn’t been forever, Nato. It’s only been a few weeks. I’m sure he’ll be back soon.” Then I stood and packed away his coloring book and crayons into the bag. After slinging it over my shoulder, I pulled him to his feet. “You want to go to the library?”
He thought about it for a moment before shaking his head. “River.”
I nodded and gripped his hand tightly, turning in that direction. “Alright, let’s go, then.”
Naruto’s chakra got lighter the closer to Naka River that we got, and when we finally reached it he laughed happily and dashed forward. I grinned at his enthusiasm and sat down a few feet from the water as he stripped down to his shorts and waded into it. I diverted most of my attention away from him, though I kept a careful watch on his chakra, and began to unwrap my left hand. I winced at the chakra burns across my palm and the way they stretched painfully when I flexed my fingers. Why haven’t they healed yet?
Chakra burns aren’t like normal injuries. They have to heal normally—any more chakra involved in the process agitates the already chakra-sensitive wound.
Huh, I didn’t know you were knowledgeable of medical stuff.
He grunted in response and I giggled. Then I straightened and concentrated again, drawing up the chakra and then carefully expelling it while simultaneously controlling it. A red glow slowly engulfed my hand.
1 . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4 . . . .
“Whoa! That’s cool, Rai!”
I smiled distractedly, but didn’t look up at him. It was easy to control the chakra light now, but I wasn’t going to risk anything.
14 . . . 15 . . . 16 . . . .
I was actually going to be able to do it. The light was steady, I wasn’t straining to keep it going, and I’d almost reached my goal. I could see Naruto approach me out of the corner of my eye.
28 . . . 29 . . . 30!
Grinning, I dispelled the light and turned to Naruto. “Awesome, right?”
He stared at me with wide eyes. “Yeah.” Then he tackled me, knocking me backwards. “You’re amazing, Rai!”
“Ack! You’re getting me all wet, Nato!”
— — — — —
Lightning lit up the sky, sending jagged shadows arching across the forest floor, and thunder cracked, leaving my ears ringing. Naruto huddled next to me, shivering and clutching our bag to his chest. “Rai,” he whispered. “I’m scared.”
My answer was cut off by another flash of lightning. Heat burned above us as it struck the tree we had sought shelter from. The limbs above us creaked and one cracked, its leaves alight with flame. I scrambled backwards, dragging Naruto with me, and it crashed down into the spot we’d just vacated. “We need to get somewhere safe,” I muttered.
And then I realized I was an idiot for not having thought of this sooner.
“C’mon. I know where we can go.” I grabbed the bag from him and slung it across my shoulder. Then I took his hand and started leading him. Another flash of lightning and boom of thunder made him shriek before he managed to collect himself enough to ask where we were going.
“Home,” I told him. Because really, out of everywhere we’d ever lived, it was home. At least to me.
He followed me, clearly confused but trusting. When we reached the streets again, they were flooding with water and deserted. I fought against the water that lapped around my shins, trying to push me backwards. I knew exactly where I was going, but we had to get there before the storm got worse.
I heard a splash behind me and suddenly Naruto’s hand slipped from mine, his chakra flaring. I whipped around. “Nato!” I yelled, lunging after him. I grabbed his hand and tried to pull him to his feet. “C’mon, we have to—”
“It hurts!” He looked up at me, sitting in the high water and clutching his leg. Suddenly, I wasn’t sure if the drops on his face were rain or tears. Then my gaze dropped to his leg and I hissed at the bloody gash along his shin. “Damn it,” I muttered, knowing the roaring winds covered my voice so he couldn’t hear me swearing. I hurriedly unraveled the bandage around my hand and wrapped it tightly around his calf. I knew it wouldn’t help with infection, but at least it would hopefully help stop him from losing too much blood.
“Can you walk?” I yelled, hoping he could hear me. Whimpering, he pushed himself to his feet. But when he tried to put weight on his leg, his knee buckled and he started to fall. I caught him around his middle and carefully lowered him down, swearing colorfully in my mind with ever curse word I knew. When I ran out of expletives, I switched to English. Kurama seemed to be enjoying my tirade, snickering in the back of my head. I adjusted our bag so that it was slung across my front and tightened it so it would be sure to not fall off. “Stand up,” I ordered.
Trembling, he pushed himself up and stood uncertainly on one foot. The waters tried to push him over, but I held tightly onto his hand to keep him from falling. Then I turned and offered him my back. “I’ll carry you.”
I heard him make a sound of disbelief, but then water splashed and weight settled on my back. For a five-year-old, Naruto was incredibly light. That, combined with my training, made this easy. I trudged through the water, my hands hooked around his knees and his arms locked around my shoulders. I could feel the mass of chakra signatures shrinking behind me as we got closer and closer to our destination. As we left the stone streets behind, I ended up wading through thick mud.
And then the building came into view.
I sped up my pace. “There it is, Nato.”
His breath tickled my ear as he sniffled. “What is it?”
“Do you remember ANBU?”
He paused. “Maybe.”
I giggled, and then immediately regretted it when I gurgled a mouthful of rain. I spit the water out and climbed the stairs to the front door. I hunched over to keep Naruto on my back as I reached for the doorknob and pushed my way inside.
Instantly, a figure dropped in front of the two of us and the recognizable sour smell filled my nostrils. My shoulders slumped in relief. “Uma!”
The figure paused and a flash of lightning illuminated the familiar markings on his mask. After a moment, he said, “Mirai-chan? Naruto-chan? What are you doing here?”
“Nato’s hurt,” was all I said, shifting my brother on my back.
That snapped him into action. He slammed the door shut and the lights hummed as they flickered on. “This way,” he said, waving to me. I followed him towards what I remembered to be the kitchen. The sound of a door opening and closing echoed down the hallway, but I ignored that. Uma waved towards the kitchen table and then dug through the cabinets, getting medical supplies. “Put him there.”
I stumbled over to the chair, my tiredness catching up with me, and set Naruto down. I dragged another chair across the floor and lifted his leg onto it. He whimpered and I glanced up at him. “Hey, we’ll get you fixed up.” I slung the bag off of me and it fell to the ground with a squelch, drenched with water. I winced. “Uh, sorry.”
Uma shrugged. “It’s fine.” He knelt down and began unwrapping the bandage tied clumsily around Naruto’s leg. I grit my teeth at the open wound and Naruto looked a little green.
“Oi, Uma, what the hell’s going on?”
I stiffened and whipped around at the familiar voice and smell. I lit up and the words left my mouth before I could even think about it. “‘Nu-nii!”
He blinked, staring down at me blankly for a moment. Then he slowly looked back up at Uma, reaching out almost habitually to ruffle my hair and then pulling his hand back when he only came into contact with my soaked beanie. “What’s going on?”
Uma shook his head. “I don’t know.” He began cleaning out the cut in Naruto’s leg and the boy whimpered, curling his hands into fists. I turned and walked towards him before I even really knew what I was doing. Then thunder boomed outside.
The lights went out.
Naruto shrieked and his chakra jumped. I could hear Uma cursing. So I lifted my hand and focused my chakra in the same way I’d been practicing for months. A soft glow illuminated the room and I relaxed as I heard Naruto’s wild breathing even out.
“When did you learn to do that, Mirai-chan?”
I jumped in surprise, not having realized that Kakashi had moved so that he now knelt next to me. “Uh, I mastered it just a week ago.”
The lights flickered as they came back on and I let my chakra dissipate. I let my hand drop, but not before Kakashi’s eyes had narrowed. He lifted my hand, cradling it in his larger one, and examined the chakra burns across my palm. “These won’t heal if you keep using chakra there,” he murmured. Then he dropped my hand and stood, moving over to the first aid kit Uma had left out on the counter.
The older ANBU finished bandaging Naruto’s leg and was lecturing him about going easy on it. Kakashi motioned to me and I skipped over to him. I squeaked in surprise when his hands hooked under my arms and lifted me onto the counter. I blinked at him. “What?”
“Hand,” he said tonelessly. When I lifted it, he grabbed it and began smearing a cold paste across my burns. I flinched in surprise and, when he released me, lifted my hand closer to my face so I could examine it. “What is it?”
“Chakra burn balm.”
“Oh.” Then I moved and unwrapped the bandages around my other hand before holding it out to him.
He blinked at the burns across my other palm before sighing and treating it as well. Then he pulled out a roll of bandages and carefully covered my hands. I flexed my fingers, studying his handiwork. It was much neater than anything I’d done and I smiled up at him. “Arigato.”
He nodded and began packing the first aid kit up. “So why are you here?”
“We needed somewhere to hide from the storm,” I said simply, swinging my legs.
He cocked an eyebrow. “The orphanage wasn’t good enough?”
Naruto frowned. “The Matron kicked us out.”
Kakashi stiffened, his gaze snapping to Naruto. Uma had gone still as well. I opened my mouth to explain, but then the older ANBU cut me off. “Where have you been staying?”
Naruto answered before I could. “Weeeeeell,” he said, seeming to think about it. “We were under those boxes for a couple weeks, I think, and then we stayed at the river, dattebayo.”
I cleared my throat awkwardly. “I was gonna talk to the Hokage about it, but he’s been in Suna.”
Kakashi’s eyebrows drew together. “Why didn’t you come here sooner?”
I felt my face burn. “I, uh, actually didn’t think about it.”
Then our conversation was interrupted by a loud rumble from my gut, which was echoed by Naruto’s stomach. Uma chuckled, already moving for the pantry. “Hungry?”
“Hai, dattebayo!”
“A little,” I conceded, jumping down to the floor. Then I knelt next to our backpack, removing my beanie and dropping it onto the floor. I blessed internally whoever had made our bag for having used such thick material, because I unzipped it to find that out things were untouched by water. I could hear the microwave running as I dug through out things. I pulled out Naruto’s coloring book and crayons and then moved over to the table, placing them in front of him. He squealed out his thanks and then flipped to the picture he’d been working on most recently.
“And your midnight meal is served!” Uma announced, placing a steaming cup of ramen in front of each of us. Naruto lit up and pushed his book aside, snatching up his chopsticks and aiming to dig in. I rapped him sharply across the knuckles with my own chopsticks. “Manners.”
He flushed and bowed his head. “Itadakimasu!” Then he began slurping up his meal.
I said it as well, though quieter, and dug in. The chair next to me scraped against the floor as Kakashi sat down, and Uma sat down across from me, to Naruto’s left. “We’ll let you sleep here until Hokage-sama comes back,” Kakashi murmured. “But then you’ll have to leave.”
I nodded, knowing that he wasn’t the one making that decision, but that the Hokage had probably instituted a rule along those lines when we’d been sent to the orphanage two years ago. “When will he be back? I’ve gone to the Tower every day to check, but it’s taking forever.”
“He was in Suna for all three phases of the Chunin Exams. He should be back in just a week.”
I slurped up the rest of the ramen broth and then gathered up the cups and chopsticks, pacing over to the trashcan to throw them away. “Where are we sleeping?”
“The rooms are all taken, including your old one.” Uma pushed himself to his feet and I could practically hear the grin in his voice. “But I’m sure Inu won’t mind letting you stay in his room.”
Kakashi shot the older man a sharp look but sighed, nodding. I grinned, grabbing Naruto’s hand. “Great!” Then I dragged him off down the hall, bursting into Kakashi’s room. The nineteen-year-old appeared in the doorway a moment later.
“I would ask how you remember which room is mine, but I’m not sure I want to know.” He shuffled over to the bed and then motioned to the two of us. “I’m sure we all can fit.”
Naruto grinned and climbed up. I jumped up after him, immediately curling around my brother in the way I was used to. Kakashi reached across us and clicked off the lamp. Then I paused.
“Er, ‘Nu-nii? We need a change of dry clothes.”
— — — — —
I was having a nice dream, for once—a dream about going out on a picnic with Naruto and eating all the ramen we could ever want. It was interrupted when the sun suddenly disappeared and I was thrown into wakefulness, all too aware of the fact that my brother’s chakra had just vanished. I tumbled wildly out of the empty bed, wearing a modified version of one of Kakashi’s shirts as a nightdress. I scrambled out the door, my heart thundering against my ribcage. I saw Mokin step out of his room and he turned towards me. “Ah, Mirai-chan! I heard you were back and—”
“Just a moment!” I yelled, running past him. Some of my panic eased off when I could finally feel the heat of Naruto’s chakra again, and I raced after it until finally I burst out into the open air. The heavy scent of petrichor assaulted my nose, but I whipped around and tackled the boy sitting on the steps. “Don’t scare me like that!”
Naruto blinked up at me. “What’s wrong?”
I shook my head, holding him tight and burying my face in his shoulder. I breathed in his scent of tree leaves for a moment before finally releasing him, having fully reassured myself that he was fine. I sat up and pulled him up as well. He looked embarrassed. “Sorry. I thought you could still hear me.”
“Hear you?”
I jumped, not having registered the fact that Kakashi was there as well, decked out in full ANBU gear. “Uh, yeah. Like I couldn’t feel his chakra.”
“We always stay close enough so she can still hear my cha-ka-ra,” Naruto shared, proud to be adding something to the conversation.
Kakashi arched an eyebrow. “I know my room is far into HQ, but that’s still only three hundred feet. You’re telling me you two have never been further than three hundred feet apart?”
I met his gaze and nodded once. “Hai. Nato’s my responsibility.”
My brother made an odd sound in the back of his throat. “And when I become Hokage, I’ll be able to take care of her!”
I beamed at him and ruffled his hair. Naruto ducked his head and flushed before eying me curiously. “You gonna train, Rai?”
I though about it for a moment, sitting down on the step by Kakashi’s knee. “Probably.” I looked up. “Can I, ‘Nu-nii.”
He hummed for a moment. “I don’t see why not.” Then he motioned to my bandaged hands. “As long as you don’t use chakra.”
I screwed up my nose. “How long until they’re healed?”
He shrugged. “Not sure. It’s different for everyone.” He rose to his feet and waved to the two of us. “Head inside. I have a mission.”
I frowned. “Will it take long?”
He shook his head. “I should be back tonight.” With that, he patted me on the head and then disappeared.
I took Naruto’s hand and tugged him up the stairs. The moment we stepped inside, I was met with the familiar aroma of pumpkin. I beamed. “Mokin!”
“How are my two favorite minions?” he asked, kneeling down to our level.
I grinned in answer, and then moved on to another subject. “Ne, Mokin, are there any targets I could use for practice?”
He blinked at me from behind his mask. “We have the training hall.”
“Right! I forgot about that. Arigato!” Ignoring Naruto’s protests, I dragged him back down the hall to Kakashi’s room. I could almost hear him pouting.
“But, Rai, I don’t wanna train!”
“Do you want to color? We can bring your book, and Slug Princess for you to read,” I suggested, digging through our bag.
His whining stopped instantly. “Yeah!”
“Good.” I got his things and then my collection of training supplies, which I’d never touched until now. “Down the hall to the left, it should be the . . . fifth door on the right.”
Naruto nodded and skipped away. I readjusted our things in my arms and paced after him. We entered the training hall and Naruto settled in one corner with his coloring books and crayons. I set up starting ten feet away from the targets. I’d used throwing knives in my past life, and I’d been great at it, if I did say so myself. I knew how to throw everything. But actually getting my childish body to cooperate would be another story.
I lifted the first kunai and ran my finger down the blade. It was dull, of course, and wouldn’t stick in the target until both my accuracy and my strength improved. I would just have to focus on where it did hit and then go from there. I slid my hand around the handle and tested the weight. Then I lifted my arm, sliding my feet into a staggered position to give myself more balance. And then I threw.
The kunai clattered unhappily off the very edge of the target and then to the floor below. I frowned, adjusted accordingly, and threw the next kunai. And then another, and another, and another, and another, and another, and another. My arm ached as I went and collected my weapons, moving back to start over again. Each kunai felt heavier than the last, weighing down on my shoulder and making it harder to throw. When I moved forward and collected them all again, I frowned down at my right hand. And then I switched.
Throwing with my left hand was difficult. In other words, I sucked at it. It took me seven tries to even manage to hit the target once, and another five to be able to hit the target consistently, even if it was no where near the center. I threw and threw until my left arm couldn’t anymore. And then I returned to my right.
My concentration was almost fully dedicated to my training, a small part of it focused on Naruto’s chakra. So when I felt his energy stirring in agitation, I cleaned my weapons up and stored them away. “Do you want to hear a new story, Nato?”
He looked up from the page he’d been blankly staring at and grinned. “Yeah!”
“Alright, I’ll tell you it while I’m doing my stretches.” I mused for a moment over what fairytale to tell him. “This story is called The Kage’s New Robes.” As I settled into my first stretch, Naruto scrambled to sit in front of me so he could listen. “Once upon a time, there was a Kage that loved clothes so much that he spent all of his money on it. He loved his clothes so much that people never said ‘The Kage is in a meeting.’ Instead, they said ‘Kage-sama is getting dressed.’”
Naruto made a face. “He sounds stupid, dattebayo. A kage takes care of people, not clothes!”
I smiled indulgently. “One day, two very tricky shinobi came to the Village and lied, saying they made clothes for a living. They said their clothes were so good that people who were stupid couldn’t see them.”
My brother wrinkled his nose. “But there aren’t invisible clothes.”
“Exactly. Thinking he was smart, the Kage hired the two. They set up sewing machines and pretended to work. After a while, the Kage sent his advisors to check on how the clothing was going along. But when the advisors got there, they couldn’t see the clothes. Afraid of the Kage thinking they were stupid, they lied and said the clothes were beautiful.” That made Naruto giggle and comment on their stupidity. I shrugged. “Maybe. But eventually, the two liars said the clothes were done. When they brought it to him, the Kage was afraid.”
“‘Cause he couldn’t see it?”
“Exactly. He was afraid people would take away his title of Kage if they thought he was stupid because he couldn’t see the clothes. So he pretended and put them on. Of course, the clothes weren’t real. So when he put them on, he was naked!”
At that Naruto started cackling and rolled onto his back, clutching his stomach as he guffawed. I sank into my splits.
“The Kage, of course, wanted to show off his new clothes. So he paraded around town. Everyone was afraid of being seen as stupid, so they all lied about how pretty his robes were. But then a child, who was too young and innocent to be stupid, said, ‘But he doesn’t have anything on.’ Everyone whispered that to each other until they realized it was true. And then the Kage heard and knew they were right.”
He blinked at me. “Your stories are weird.” I shrugged and leaned over to touch my toes, not disagreeing. “And then what?” he asked.
“And then nothing. The people felt stupid, the Kage was ashamed, and the liars got away.”
He pulled a face. “That’s not a very happy ending.”
I giggled and gathered up our things. “Sometimes there aren’t happy endings. Let’s go see if Mokin will take us to ramen.”
That completely flipped his mood and he skipped away ahead of me, chanting, “Ramen! Ramen! Ramen!”
In Kakashi’s room, I changed into my now-dry clothes and collected Naruto’s coloring book and my wallet. When we stepped out into the hallway, I called, “Mokin!”
He appeared in front of us almost instantly, making Naruto squeal in surprise and cling to me. “What’s up?” he asked cheerfully.
“Can we go to Ichiraku’s?” I asked, making sure to use the doe eyes that always made the ANBU fold when I was younger. “Please?”
He seemed to think about it for a moment, crouching in front of us. “Okay,” he agreed. “But I’ll have to follow where you can’t tell I’m there. People aren’t supposed to see me.”
I nodded. “‘kay! Er, do you have money?”
He disappeared for just a few seconds and then landed in front of us again. “Here you go,” he said, dropping a small handful of ryo into my palm. “You two go ahead. I’ll follow.”
I nodded and grabbed Naruto’s hand, dragging him out the front of the headquarters. The ground was still muddy and wet, only becoming more so that farther into town we got. I climbed up onto one of the stools. “Teuchi-san! One salt and one miso, please.”
“Naruto-chan! Mirai-chan!” The old man beamed at the two of us. “Coming right up!”
After a few moment, someone else sat down at one of the stools. I sniffed at the familiar smell and turned, finding myself staring up into an unforgettable face that I had once seen in an anime—Shiranui Genma. And then I realized I’d been so terribly stupid. “Mokin?” I asked quietly.
He glanced at me, chewing on the senbon between his teeth. His gaze flicked to Naruto, but the boy was in a conversation with Ayame about the properties of ramen and didn’t seem to be paying attention. He sighed. “You always were a smart one,” he said softly, just loud enough for me to hear.
“You smell the same,” I said simply, because somehow that was more important than how he looked. “What’s your name?”
“I’m not sure I should tell you that.”
I made a face. “It’s not like I can’t find out on my own, even if it takes a while.”
“Genma,” he offered only a moment later. “One pork ramen,” he called out.
“Of course,” Teuchi said, setting a bowl down in front of me and another in front of Naruto.
“Itadakimasu,” I murmured, breaking my chopsticks apart.
And for just a moment, ANBU felt like family again.
— — — — —
When Kakashi and his team returned, he found me lying on my back with my feet pressed against the newly-dented wall. He stopped about a foot away and crossed his arms. “What’s going on here?”
I blinked and turned my head towards him. “I’m learning how to tree-walk.” With that said, I returned to trying to regulate the proper amount of chakra in my feet.
“Uh-huh. Where’s Naruto?”
“Nato’s already sleeping. But I can hear his chakra, so it’s okay.” I discontinued the flow through the soles of my feet and pushed myself up. My gaze flicked across his two companions’ masks. And I frowned. “You’re not Neko.”
The brunet cocked his head curiously at me, but Kakashi just chuckled, removing his dog mask. “Neko retired from ANBU. This Neko is her replacement.”
“Ah.” A distinct but barely familiar scent of sugar teased my nostrils and I leaned forward, sniffing deeply. My feet moved without me even thinking about it, and I found myself standing before Kakashi’s second teammate. I smiled up at him. “Konichiwa, Itachi-san.”
Those dark eyes blinked for a moment before he reached up and removed his mask as well. “I’m impressed, Mirai-chan. We’ve only met once before.”
“I have a good memory,” I said simply. I leaned towards the new Neko and sniffed deeply, memorizing his scent. It wasn’t one I’d smelled before, but I felt like I was missing something obvious. I could feel Kurama getting oddly agitated inside my head. What’s wrong, Kyuubi?
His scent reminds me of a Senju, he growled, unhappy to be questioned, but even more unhappy at Neko’s smell.
I cocked my head to the side. A Senju? Why would—
Of course.
I carefully kept my realization from showing on my face, but there was no denying it. It was Tenzo. Orochimaru’s experiment, Danzo’s pawn, and Kakashi’s friend. That was why he smelled like burnt wood. I offered him a smile. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“I wasn’t aware that you were . . . associated with ANBU, Mirai-chan,” the Uchiha murmured.
“She’s not,” Kakashi said, answering for me. “The twins were our . . . wards, at one point. They returned here last night, which is when we discovered they’d been kicked out of the orphanage a few weeks ago. They’ll remain with us until the Hokage returns and arranges a new living situation for them.”
As if that exchange hadn’t even happened, I turned to Itachi with a grin. “Nato and I’d like to play with Sasuke again sometime, if we could! It was fun last time.”
“You have tomorrow as a free day,” Kakashi murmured.
Itachi nodded. “That sounds reasonable. I’ll retrieve you and your brother after breakfast. I’m sure Sasuke will be delighted.”
My grin widened. “Great! Ne, ‘Nu-nii, can we use the salve again?” I asked, wiggling my bandaged fingers.
He sighed and his hands hooked under my arms. A moment later, I was settled on his shoulders with my hands tangled in his hair to keep myself in place. “Go ahead and get some rest,” he mumbled to his teammates. We arrived at the kitchen and he set me down on the table before beginning to sift through the cabinets. I tucked my hands under my thighs and swung my legs lazily. “Is being ANBU hard?” I asked curiously.
He glanced at me, selecting the jar of salve. “You know the answer to that, Mirai. Don’t play stupid—it doesn’t fit you.”
I felt my cheeks burn a little and I held out one of my hands for him to treat. I kept my gaze on my burns as he unwound my bandages. “Right. Do you like it, though?”
He smoothed the cool paste across my burns and then wrapped a new bandage around my hand. He was silent as he moved onto my other hand. Then he finally spoke. “In a way.”
“Aa.” I let him finish and then rubbed my hands together as I watched him dig through the cabinets again. He pulled out a strip of black cloth and detached the barely singed one from his mask. I cocked my head to the side. “Whatcha doing?”
“We have to remove any evidence of a fight after each mission,” he said simply, attaching the new cloth.
I pushed myself off the table and paced over to him. I watched curiously as his hands moved with a mechanical deftness, showing that he’d done this hundreds of times before. Then I reached out and took the cloth he’d removed. It was barely touched, just as slight crispness about the edges, but apparently that was enough. Ignoring the fact that I knew he was watching me in interest now, I wrapped it around my wrist and tucked in the ends.
“What’s that for?”
I glanced up at him and smiled. “A reminder of what I’m working towards, I guess.”
“Oh?”
“ANBU,” I clarified. “Nato wants to be Hokage, but I’ll be ANBU, like my Niisan.” I smiled at him.
Something flickered through his gaze—sadness, or maybe it was just surprise—and then he sighed and patted me on the head, unable to ruffle my hair through my beanie. “Let’s get you to bed, alright, kiddo?”
 — — — —
The atmosphere once we reached the Uchiha Compound was . . . odd. It lacked the normal hostile air Naruto and I received when we went outside. Instead, it was almost like we were ignored—all the attention went to Itachi. Which I was fine with, because it gave me an opportunity to observe. The things I’d heard about the size and pride of the Uchiha Clan seemed to be true enough—it was full of people all wearing the fan emblem, and they all carried themselves with a certain about of self-respect.
“Here we are,” Itachi murmured, pushing aside the door to the largest house on the street.
When we stepped inside, I followed the ANBU’s example and removed my shoes. I poked Naruto, prompting him to do the same. Then Itachi led us into another room. And that was the first time I saw his parents. He moved and knelt between Sasuke and Mikoto. I had never been instructed on the formalities of these introductions, but I could guess. So I motioned subtly to Naruto and knelt so that the two of us were sitting seiza directly across from the clan head. A silence, not awkward but not comfortable either, settled over us all and I licked my lips nervously. Was I supposed to speak first?
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Apparently not.
“My name is Uchiha Fugaku, and this is my wife Mikoto. As I understand, you are already acquainted with both my sons. It’s my honor to welcome you into our home.”
The slightly-too-long pause after that told me it was my turn to speak. I bowed my head in respect. “I thank you for allowing us to be here.”
He made a strange approving noise. “Lunch will be fully prepared in four hours.” It wasn’t an invitation to dine with them—it sounded more like an order. “Please enjoy your time here.”
“We will,” I said, lifting my head just in time to see the slight frown thrown in my brother’s direction when the clan head realized I was the only one that had spoken. Naruto looked distinctly uncomfortable, clearly not used to sitting in seiza for any period of time. Fugaku rose to his feet and the rest of us followed, the Uchiha clearly more graceful that us. The clan head and his wife exited the room and Sasuke broke out into a grin. “Ya wanna play Ninja?” he asked excitedly.
I’d heard of the game, of course, but we’d never been included in those games at the orphanage. Naruto frowned. “Ninja? How do ya play, dattebayo?”
“It’s like tag!” Sasuke grabbed Naruto’s arm and dragged him outside. Itachi and I followed at a more sedate pace. Sasuke babbled on for a while about how there were missing nin and hunter nin and the idea was for the hunter nin to capture all the traitors by marking them with a paper tag or, if you were a nuke nin, you had to hit all the hunter nin with the toy shuriken they had. We reached one of the Uchiha training grounds and Sasuke handed out the shuriken. I tested the weight of the six I’d been given. They were lighter than my training kunai, and there was no way they’d throw as straight.
“Oi, what’s going on here!”
The new voice made Naruto jump and he scrambled behind me. I blinked and looked up at the teen that was hanging upside down from a tree, his legs hooked over one of the branches. He looked vaguely familiar and I felt like I should have known who he was.
“Ah. Sasuke and his friends are going to play Ninja.”
The older teen grinned at Itachi and jumped down. “Cool! I’ll play.” He put his hands on his hips and smiled brightly down at us. “I’m Uchiha Shisui! It’s nice to meet you two!”
And just like that, hot rocks dropped into my stomach and my mouth dried out. I was now standing before one of Konoha’s most loyal shinobi—and a super strong one at that—that would commit suicide in just a couple years in order to protect the Village. I stumbled over myself for a moment to bow shallowly in respect. “It’s always nice to meet a super strong shinobi. So, ohayo. I’m Uzumaki Mirai. This is my brother, Naruto.”
“Awesome. Tachi-chan, you’re playing, right?”
I couldn’t help the way I choked and sputtered at that. Sasuke’s brother shot me a look and I barely managed to mouth Tachi-chan.
He sighed. “I concede. How will the parts be divided, then?”
“Nato, Sasuke-kun, and Shisui-san can be the hunter nin.” A grin stretched across my face and I tightened my grip on my shuriken. “Ready, set, go!” With that, I dashed away, leaving behind a confused group that dispersed only a moment later. I scrambled up a tree, desperately wishing I was able to use the tree-walking exercise already, and hunched in wait. A flash of movement caught my eye and I grinned when I saw Sasuke running below me. I readied my weapon and threw.
It went wide.
Sasuke screeched to a stop, looking for the person who had thrown it. Scowling at how different it was compared to my training shuriken, I tried again.
It nailed Sasuke in the forehead.
I barely withheld a shriek of happiness when he started pouting and trudged over to the ‘out’ spot. With that done, I turned just in time to see Itachi hit Naruto with one of his own shuriken. I grinned. Just Shisui left, then.
“That was quite the throw, kiddo.”
I reacted instinctively and whipped around, throwing my elbow out and bringing my other hand up to protect my bared ribs. Shisui caught my arm easily with one hand and then snatched me up by my ankle, holding me upside down by my foot as he placed the paper tag on my forehead. “You’re out!”
Something clocked him in the side of the head. “So are you,” Itachi said calmly.
Shisui stuck out his lower lip in an over-exaggerated pout. “Aw, c’mon, Tachi-chan! That was not fair. I totally had you guys!” He sighed. “Fine, fine, I get it.”
I reached up, my abs straining with the effort, and pinched his wrist just at the pressure point. Surprised, he relaxed his grip and I twisted away, falling to the ground. I could hear Shisui yell above me, but I flipped and landed on the ground in a solid crouch. The moment I did, the Uchiha was beside me. He arched an eyebrow, the worry smoothing out of his face. “Huh. Impressive for a brat, I guess.”
“Don’t think so lowly of yourself, Shisui-san. You did quite well.”
He blinked and then barked out a laugh. “I like this one!”
And that was when I knew that the last thing I wanted was for Uchiha Shisui to die.

Aquario's Rest
Summary: Hikaru and Madoka stay late at work one night, not the first and certainly not the last.
The last rays of the sunset had already disappeared over the horizon, and the light switch had been mindlessly flicked on as Hikaru had continued to work. Her fellow workers had slowly left the office, one by pair, packing up their things and going home for a good night’s sleep.
Hikaru, of course, remained, putting the finishing touches on next month’s tournament schedule.
Footsteps echoed through the empty office, harmonizing with the clack of her fingers on her laptop. Ryo stepped out of his room and sighed as he peered over at Hikaru at her desk. She blinked at him, blearily.
Most workers would be happy to leave as soon as their shift was over. Ryo didn’t reproach any of them this. He himself didn’t like working late, a good work-life balance was necessary. He had a son to spend time with. Hikaru, on the other hand, had deeply thrown herself into her work for the past year.
Finding her in the office as the clock ticked closer and closer towards the new day had almost become a routine, like when Gingka used to stay up late at night, watching stars with Hyoma, and Ryo would have to collect him. Gingka was easier to get home than Hikaru though, who even sleep-deprived could form good arguments.
Of course, there were some easy ways of dealing with this, and Ryo, in all his fatherly-instinct, had discovered them.
He snatched the keys to the office off Hikaru’s desk and quickly stepped away. “Looks like I lost my keys today, mind if I borrow yours? I can offer you a ride home while I lock up the office.”
“Or you could go home and I could lock up, Director,” Hikaru merely spared him a tired glare. Hikaru was a smart teenager, but she also had no qualms about sleeping at her desk. So in that respect, Hikaru was a very short-sighted teenager.
“But I really should be going now, and because of a small emergency we had to miss our 5pm meeting. You said you wanted to inform me about stadium management? It would be much more efficient to do that in the car.” Hopefully it would’ve taken long enough that Hikaru wouldn’t try to tell him right now.
Hikaru sighed and rubbed at her eyes. Glancing out the window, the sky was inordinately clear tonight. She could see the large crab constellation taking up the sky, cancer in all its summer glory. It was a rare occasion to be able to see the stars so beautifully in the city, going home and stargazing would be nice…
She closed her laptop and stuffed it into her bag. “Alright Director,” she told the man who seemed hellbent on adopting her. “You win.”
Ryo smirked and tossed the keys into the air, catching them again in a victorious motion. “You mind checking to see if anyone else is hanging around while I start locking up?” It was almost a rhetorical question, with how automatic the roles were. It took about ten minutes to lock up the whole building, and everyone had to be cleared out.
Hikaru padded through the hallways and started checking the rooms.
Faint rays of the moon lit the hallways, and Hikaru’s heels clicked as she walked. During the height of the workday, people would stop her as she walked from place to place, firing quick questions at her as they recognized it would probably get them a quicker response than an email. It was a lot of work, but Hikaru had found herself quickly rising to the challenge and excelling. Her memory had always been great, and there was some part of her that adored being able to help plan and manage this complex operation.
It was slowly becoming her passion, in the way battling had once been.
Besides, while battling, there were some things she had ignored.
The engineering department wasn’t quiet when she entered. This was normal, the whir of computers was a constant here during the day. Now, the room was filled with soft snores.
The smile that crossed Hikaru’s face was automatic, but she made no effort to remove it as she approached her sleeping friend. Madoka was slumped over her desk, her head laying on her arms. Her laptop was still on, its light flickering across Madoka’s form. A bey lay disassembled in front of her.
Madoka was just as hard worker as Hikaru, and late days at work, coffee breaks in early mornings, had quickly strengthened the bond between the girls. Hikaru… Hikaru loved working with her, the way Madoka would excitedly wave whenever Hikaru entered the department, the way she’d quickly babble about whatever she was working on.
The way they’d walk home together sometimes.
“Madoka,” Hikaru giggled as she crouched beside her friend, shaking her shoulder lightly. “It’s time to close up.”
Madoka groaned and buried her head deeper into her arms. Her body shivered slightly as it awoke, it was a rather cold night for the summer.
“Come on Madoka, the Director will give us a ride home,” Hikaru continued to encourage her drowsy friend.
Madoka glanced up at Hikaru with half-lidded eyes, her face the picture of misery. “Five more minutes,” she begged.
Hikaru slapped a hand over her mouth to keep from bursting into raucous laughter. “I’ll let you nap on my shoulder in the car,” Hikaru offered between huffs of amusement. Her face burned as her semi-joking suggestion sank in. Were they close enough friends to do this?
Yet Madoka seemed completely unaware as she unsteadily stood up. She swayed on her feet, eyes unfocused, and Hikaru instinctively threw an arm around her for balance. “Let’s get you home,” she whispered softly, leading her friend out the door.
“Hey Hikaru,” Ryo whisper-called from down the hall, raising a hand in a lackadaisical wave. “You ready to- Oh, hey Madoka.” He gave the tired mechanic a smile, taking in her complete exhaustion. “Looks like someone else was working for too long too.”
Hikaru and Madoka fixed him with identical glares, Madoka’s scariness coming out at full-force.
“Sir, can you just take us home?” Hikaru sighed, scrubbing a hand down her face.
The key jangled in the lock as Ryo locked the final door behind them, whistling as he shoved it in his pocket. “Come on, we’ll drop Madoka off first,” he announced as he led them to his car.
Hikaru had ridden home with her father-figure many times before, as he insisted on driving her if it got too late. Normally, she took the passenger seat, ostensibly to make sure Ryo wasn’t in control of the music. Today though, she slipped into the back with Madoka.
The stars outside were beautiful through Hikaru’s hazy vision. Her cheek was probably smudging the window as she leaned against it, but Ryo wouldn’t mind a bit of dirtiness. They twinkled brightly against the backdrop, like someone had spilled glitter over construction paper. Like a child had designed the world to be their perfect vision.
A head fell on her shoulder, and Hikaru nearly jumped out of her skin. Thankfully, her body remained calm, like Madoka’s breaths as she slept on Hikaru. Hair drifted out, falling in front of her face. Her goggles sat askew. Peacefully, she dozed on, arm against Hikaru’s arm as warmth passed between them.
Hikaru blinked down at her friend, breath torn from her lips.
Maybe the stars outside were beautiful, in a distant way. A perfection that could not hope to be imitated or reached. Hikaru wasn’t an astronaut, she’d never lay among the constellations.
But it paled in comparison to the beauty of existing side by side with another.
Hikaru hoped she never forgot, and that she never remembered, because realizing every so often how amazing people were, how amazing having friends was…
They pulled up outside the Beypit, Ryo twisting around in the driver's seat. “You need any help bringing her in?” His voice was so quiet it could not even be called a whisper. The night made them all silent.
“Nah, I got it sir,” Hikaru replied, unbuckling her seatbelt and Madoka’s. Digging through her bag, she found a spare set of keys that Madoka gave most her friends.
“The Beypit is open to all of you,” Madoka stated confidently, pressing the cold metal into Hikaru’s hands, her warm fingers curling around.
Madoka was small for her age, a shortie, as many of their friends affectionately called her. It was easy to lift her up and carry her to the door, carefully unlocking it while not jostling Madoka too much.
The lights flickered on as Hikaru hit the switch, and she groaned as harsh illumination filled the shop. The sudden change pounded in her head, a headache for sure. But, she didn’t want to trip over anything while trying to navigate. It would be a disaster for both and Madoka to get hurt.
The metal stairs creaked with rusted sighs as Hikaru walked down them. Laying Madoka down on the couch, she glanced around for a blanket.
Gingka slept on that couch often when he was in town. Hikaru would come visit and find them both hanging out in the basement. She… didn’t even know where Madoka’s bedroom was.
How many times had Madoka fallen asleep at her desk here? Did she spend the entire night there, head buried in arms as she had been at the WBBA?
Hikaru threw a blanket over her shivering friend, watching her curl up under the new warmth. Should she check in on Madoka more often, make sure she was going to bed? Would that get her to be called a hypocrite?
    Maybe.
“Good night Madoka,” Hikaru breathed out into the air, silently walking back upstairs and out through the door.
She slid back into Ryo’s car, ready to be taken home to her apartment. The glow of her phone filled the backseat as she penned a text to Madoka.
“Night Madoka, hope you sleep okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

The bedroom was slightly better than the cell.
Mimmi hold her new baby as her older child cuddle them over the bed. They were warm, had clean water and a meal. Joe kept looking at them with shine on his eyes and a smile on his face.
“Joe” the Queen said fondly..
“My beautiful siren” the King answered kissing her hand sweetly. “you could rest here”
“And you?”
“The Light is going to attack tonight, they ships burned over the ocean, but I know that they are not going to stop, they still had a good number of soldiers”
“And the Wolf Knight” Mimmi said
“Mimmi...”
“You could win this war darling. I know we can protect the Islands and I know you love your people. But Yamato is your friend, Taichi is your friend. You think that you could...?”
“I am the King of the Honest Island” Joe said holding her wife and son's hands “I must to respond to my people, I owned them my loyalty. I can’t denied my people´s will just because is my friend who is standing on the way”
The Queen looked her husband put on the armor and hold his bow and arrows over his back.
“Give me a couples of days to heal and a pair of knives and I will kill all your enemies” She said.
Joe laughed and agree with a moved of his head. The hands of Mimmi itch at the thoughts of taking the arms again. All this time everytime that Mimmi talked about going herself at the battlefield Joe persuaded her to don’t do it.
“We could start with Ryo Akiyama” She joked, but the laughs last short “So it is really a war” She said holding her two children tighty.
“I’m sorry” He said
“I had seen worst”
“I’m sorry” He repeated.
The Sea King kissed her wife and allow himself to lose a little on that big eyes.
“I’m proud of you” He said at his son and kiss his front “I will return at dawn” the King said and he left.
There was fire on the coast. The float of The Light was lighting the sunset, the soldiers were saving what could be saving. Kouji found his master standing on the beach, looking at his army running and burning.
“Master” the young knight called “Do we know what happen?”
Yamato stand in silence, his eyes fixed on the flames.
“Master?” Kouji hurry to get close to him “How are we going to win this war without our float?”
The horse of the King arrived. The proud Knight of Light was mad.
“WHAT IS THIS!? ON THE NAME OF THE GREAT GOD OF…”
A sudden movement of Yamato interrupted him.
“Flaming arrows were shooting from that cliff, directly to our powders” the knight said without aparting his eyes from the boats.
“Who?” the King started a question.
“Who you think?!” Yamato said turning aggressively at the King.
He take the big walrus figure, ripped it from his neck and threw it at the sand.
“Yamato…”
“Save it!” the blonde interrupted the King again,  he hold tightly the sword at his hip and turned to his apprentice “You don’t win a war Kouji, you survive at it”.
They take the fastest ship that survived and sail with just the fundamental to the rebel’s base. Other very small portion of the army was closer on the slower least damaged ship. They wouldn’t be able to attack with all their strength, an infiltration was their best chance.
They arrived at the swarm, an irregular group of infertil islands were the insect abunded. Seven soldiers surrounded the base of the rebels looking for entries. Yamato found an easily to broke padlock on a barn and he, Kouji and Taichi entered with caution. A couple of steps, the lights went on and the door locked again: an ambush.
Davis, Ken and Iory were surrounded them. All the swords get unleashed.
The Forgotten Prince took a step farther.
“I want to talk to the Sea King” Taichi said stopping him.
“Say your peace” The Sea King spoke..
The knights and the King turned their attention at the second level of the barn, were Joe was pointing at them with an arrow. Ryo Akiyama was in the balcony in front of him with a similar weapon.
“Turned yourself at the greatest justice, accepted the punishment for your betrayed and order your rebels liders to do the same” The King said with no hesitation.
“In exchange of what?” Joe said without loosing his objective.
“Of avoiding an unnecessary slaughter”
“Recognize the independence of the Honest Islands and take your hypocritical Light’s doctrine out of my home” The Sea King commanded.
“No.” Taichi said, allowing himself to taste the sweet anticipation of the battle.
Yamato wants to look at Joe Kido, looks into his eyes and found a doubt. But Iory Hida was in front of him, and the wolf Knight knew that the slightest mistake will end with the Forgotten Prince avenging his father.
An arrow was fired.
The shine armor of the King get a scratch and the arrow bounce at the floor. Yamato recognized the powerful scent of the poison. They had to get away of that arrows.
Ken Ichijouji attacked at Kouji with force, Yamato would like to help him, but Iory was against him, every time that Yamato found an open on his movements an arrow make him step back. Joe choose his children and Yamato knew they are going to lose because of it.
Taichi attacked Davis first, he received him with a weak defense and a clumsy come back. The King felt the doubt on the young boy.
“You could do it” The King said “You are brave enough to do what they can’t”
Davis recomposed his battle position. Two feet over the ground, the head on the right place and his heart broken.
Ken Ichijouji fight with their blades. Kouji was a skilled swordsman, but the short distance of the battle style of his opponent taking him by surprise. Ken doesn’t look like he care when he lose a knife, he kept taking small weapons out of his pocket as they were candies. Finally, a whip trapped Kouji´s right hand, an unavoidable streak was coming. Kouji look the smile that he knew a lot of men had seen before died.
Ken felt the low kick on his left leg, he fall on his back, dropped his whip and felt the sword of Davis wounded him on a not vital spot.
He scream. Loud and bitter, breaking the battle.
Ryo Akiyama watched the treason that he was waiting for. He point his first arrow against Iory, that would allow the Wolf Knight to finished him. When he was releasing the shoot, he felt the pain on his right eye. The Sea King had shooted him a poison arrow. His own didn’t arrive at the Forgotten Prince.
Iory watch the arrow of his master miss his heart and heard the scream when Joe Kido shoot at him. Nobody survived at the poison of the Kido´s, but he didn't get time to think about it, he has just witnessed Davis betray.
Ryo moved himself away of the Sea King watch, removed the arrow of his eye. He can felt the poison getting inside him, he found inside his pocket for the old cursed beverage, recited the old spell and summon all the shadows that he could into his eye. How painful was the old magic.
Cody was surrounded for the Wolf and Light Knights on no time and not even the arrows of Joe could save him. Soon, he was tied next to Ichijouji, next to his brother, he was full of yells and reclaims, but he has no words for Davis, he was death for his eyes.
Yamato climbed the stairs quickly. He found Joe. A knee on the floor, an arrow ready to fly, his eyes looking directly at him. A solid position. He wasn’t running or crying or lost as that first time when Yamato found him in an ally on the market of the Honest Island.
Joe looked at Yamato. He was trembling, there was something bitter on his eyes, blood on his hands. And they are going to be more. It occurred to him, that Yamato didn’t really leave the old war, he kept leaving battle after battle.
He shoot the arrow, Yamato deflected it with a shield with The Light insight. Before he can prepare other, the Wolf Knight punch him on the face.
They should had to talk about it. But when Yamato dragged him down the stairs only the filthy treats of Ken Ichijouji were audible. Kouji muzzled him.
“Joe Kido, The Honest Island Pacifier, The Sea King” Taichi said once Joe was tied and kneeling in front of him. “You are accused to betrayed the crown and …”
“I burned your ships, but I never betrayed my people” Joe interrupted.
“You know the punish for treason” The King said.
“Did you?” The King answered.
“Do you think this is going to end something?” Taichi scream “The Light would send more floats. Even if you get to kill me, my family will kept the power.”
“The living Land choose you as a King, and you choose to ruled by The Light´s rules. We choose the war because we know that what you was offering wasn’t peace.” The Honest Island Pacifier responded.
Davis watched his master going down the stairs and he hurried to help him.
Ryo Akiyama heard the King sentenced Joe Kido to die. The Wolf Knight stepped closed  to the accuser, Ryo felt a bit of envy, his eye was still burning, his magic had stopped the poison to enter at the bloodstream, but it's going to leave a mark. Hundreds of years murdering and he had kept his face beauty until this unjury.
Yamato Ishida unsheathed his sword, a sword that Ryo recognized for the days when he was an executioner at the order of the Cold King. Yamato had stolen that sword the day that he was going to kill Joe Kido and his trusted warrior. Funny thing that now the trusted warrior is going to kill Joe Kido. Ryo missed that sword, Izzy Izumi himself had prayed over it, maybe that's why he had never tried to steal it back.
The Wolf Knight rise the sword.
“Please don’t!” the Forgotten Prince begged “Please forgive him, this was my fault, I started this, he is innocent, please, let me take the punish”
But he was ignored. Soon his tears and sobbing stopped his own begging.
“Last words?” the King asked.
“Don’t kill the children” The Sea King pleaded.
Yamato down his sword. It cut the neck of Joe Kido and then breaks itself when it hit the ground. Yamato looked in horror the broken pieces get covered with blood. An uncertain and cold feeling through him.
A bad augury, Ryo knew.

BGM: 坂本真綾 "バイク"
Today I worked early. This morning was tough for me again. I could find no reasons. Just I worried that I hadn't slept well, and I was confused because everything I was concerned about could be the reason for the mistakes I would do. But I couldn't quit my job so I went to my workplace. Then, my body started moving naturally as usual and my thought also changed dramatically. A serious personality in me started working, and confidence came to my mind... no, I didn't have any confidence. That another personality that had been built by the experiences of doing this job over 20 years exactly supported me. Therefore I could do today's work.
You might think that I am weird because of another personality. But I am that kind of person, and that's all. Usually, I look for some nasty videos on the DMM site. But when I started reading books like Salinger or wearing my company's uniform, the personality that had been built by taking and reading so many books or working hard in the past days starts appearing. It's like Ryo Saeba, the main character of "City Hunter". It's strange but cool, so I accept this strangeness as this kind of thing can happen in this world.
I let another personality do my work, and at lunchtime, I took my lunchbox. I read some responses from my friends about the anxiety I had written on LINE. And I thought that this must be happiness. My friends exactly support me (so I am never lonely). I can eat lunch and I have my job. So I can feel that I am glad to be alive... this must sound weird, but I might accept it if a person who came from "Matrix" said, "TBH all of your life was just a dream". My current life is completely different from my past miserable life. Or I should say this life is a miracle.
At night, I attended two online meetings on ZOOM. The one was about archeology. The host spoke very smoothly and showed his rich knowledge, so I could enjoy it even if I was just an amateur. Another was the one by Facebook's language exchange group. Tonight we talked about our hometowns and experiences of traveling. I have rarely gone to another place and enjoyed an impressive trip, but I want to go to Hawaii if possible. I want to know two faces of Hawaii. The one is for tourists, and the another is just for residents. This must be the influence of Yoshio Kataoka. But I have to save money... Money-go-round!

shkdjfhksjdfh okay I mean heck ahaha. I hope every one of yall enjoys this~ Part one is here, part two is here.
Shouyou sucks a breath in and thinks fire, feels fire, becomes fire, breathes out a torrent of fire. It’s hot across his lips, almost burning him, and the mannequin lets out an impossible, ungodly shriek as it dodges. Shouyou’s lungs run out of fire and he gasps a breath, feeling lightheaded. The next thing that comes out of him is a belch of smoke.
“Be careful, dumbass,” Kageyama yells, the chalk lines he was working on smudging slightly under the mannequin’s clumsy feet. One of it’s hands was caught in the blaze and it continues to whine as it stumbles around the shop trying to put out the fire.
“Maybe you should use something better than chalk for that,” Shouyou snaps. The mannequin trips over itself, the ghost possessing it struggling to move the wooden joints. It goes down and lights an entire table of shirts as it goes.
“Maybe you should do something smarter than light a fire inside,” Kageyama snaps back.
As if trying to prove his point the fire alarm goes off and the sprinklers kick on, dousing everything and washing away Kageyama’s careful chalk lines. Kageyama’s hair plasters to his head instantly and his oversized tee shirt shrinks down to stick to his wiry frame.
Kageyama glares at Shouyou. “You suck,” he shouts over the fire alarm.
The mannequin stands itself back up behind Kageyama and Shouyou sees it first but one of Kageyama’s ghosts must see it next because Kageyama goes stiff. The mannequin brings an arm back to swing and Shouyou watches Kageyama start to turn.
Kageyama’s reaction time isn’t the best. He spends most of his time working on banishing malevolent spirits with magic and feeding benevolent ones his life energy in payment for favors like the keys that got them into this store tonight. Shouyou, on the other hand, is graced with fae agility that he’s honed by actually trying to participate in sports clubs when he isn’t sacrificing sleep to go deal with all kinds of evil magic at one in the morning with Kageyama. If Shouyou does nothing Kageyama will go flying and probably get hurt. Shouyou doesn’t do nothing.
Sliding across the wet floor Shouyou barely gets there in time to shove Kageyama out of the way. He doesn’t have enough time to do it softly so Kageyama slides on the wet linoleum before tipping over. It’s a lot more like tripping instead of what Shouyou has to deal with.
The mannequin catches Shouyou around the middle and true to his expectations he goes flying, feeling like he just got shot. He hits a rack of dresses hard and the sharp corners of it dig into his back, making him cry out. The ground comes next and Shouyou lands on his tailbone hard enough to slam his teeth together and addle his brains. He slumps over, blinking water and pain out of his vision.
“Hinata!” someone somewhere shouts.
“I’m good,” he tries to say but what comes out is a faint whining sound. That’s probably not good.
There’s a swooping sensation and for a second Shouyou sees double, or at least he thinks he does. There’s a mannequin falling, maybe slipping in the water, and sliding away from it with hands outstretched towards Shouyou is a creature with dark eyes, sallow skin and hair that stands on end. Before it reaches him to deliver whatever vengeance it wants to on his stunned, prone form however other shadows converge on it.
Shouyou blinks and the images vanish. Kageyama slides on his knees in the water into view, glancing behind him at what once was fighting monsters but is now just rain.
Kageyama turns his attention to Shouyou. “You idiot. Are you okay?”
“Huh,” Shouyou wonders aloud. Kageyama’s eyes are glowing, like sapphires.
“Dumbass, what’s two plus two?”
“Four,” Shouyou says, already feeling a little less confused. The world seems to be coming back into focus. “Obviously.”
Kageyama still looks grim. “Where are we?”
The rain turns into a sprinkler system, Kageyama’s eyes are dull and dark, and Shouyou sits up and grabs Kageyama’s arms. Around them the fire alarm continues to blare. “Kageyama, we need to leave. The fire department could be here any minute and we broke in.”
Kageyama scowls and curses and helps Shouyou to his feet. They barely make it out before the fire department shows up.
The next day Shouyou feels like death warmed over. His ribs are killing him, he’s pretty sure his back has the worst looking bruise in history on it, and there are all kinds of nicks on his skin from the fight. He pulls on his clothes carefully and leaves early so that he can take it slow biking over the mountain. He doesn’t even think about his injuries beyond how much they hurt until Daichi and Suga pull him aside in the club room.
“Hinata, we have some concerns,” Suga says kindly.
“What’s up?” Shouyou asks.
“We’re worried about your boyfriend,” Suga says.
Shouyou blinks at them. “Boyfriend?” he asks, feeling like he’s forgetting something and then immediately it all comes rushing back and he scrambles. “I mean, yeah, my boyfriend.” Shouyou laughs awkwardly. “What about him?”
“Is he…” Daichi seems to search for the words and then change tactics. “Did he cause those bruises?”
All the awkwardness falls out of Shouyou instantly and he can only stare at Daichi. “What?”
“You sure seem to get a lot of nasty bruises, Hinata,” Suga says gently, “and some of them are hand shaped.” The Berserker a week and a half ago and the Skin-Walker two weeks before that, Shouyou’s brain supplies. “It’s a bit troubling.”
“You think… you think that Kageyama would hurt me?” Shouyou wonders, feeling stunned.
“He is a little odd,” Daichi says. “He seems pretty angry and anti-social.”
“He’s not like that,” Shouyou says immediately with a sudden rush of passion. “He’s just grumpy on the outside.”
“It’s a little weird that no one else but you seems to know him that well,” Suga says softly.
“If you guys got to know him you wouldn’t say that,” Shouyou says, feeling a little desperate and a little angry.
Kageyama has a terrible sense of humor, half from the ghosts that hover around him and say sassy shit in his ear all the time and half because his own sense of humor is a little dark from being around death all the time, and he’s got a terrible resting bitch face but Shouyou’s seen that face lax in sleep and open in laughter. Shouyou’s watched Kageyama talk quietly and kindly to Natsu and he’s seen Kageyama put himself in danger to save Shouyou’s life. Kageyama is a grumpy asshole but a good person.
“How about this,” Shouyou says in a rush. “How about I bring Kageyama to some team event and you guys try to get to know him before assuming that his grumpy face has anything to do with my clumsiness.”
Daichi and Suga both look surprised. They look at each other and have some conversation with their eyes and then they turn back to Shouyou as a united front.
“Okay,” Daichi says. “How about after Friday practice. I’ll buy everyone meat buns.”
“Okay,” Shouyou says. “We’ll be there.”
It’s only as he’s leaving the club room to go to practice that he realizes that he has to convince Kageyama to willingly socialize with people who don’t know what all his long pauses mean and who think that he and Shouyou are dating. Kageyama is going to kill him. But like, metaphorically. Probably with his eyes or something.
Shouyou thinks about how to phrase it all morning but by lunch he’s still got nothing. He approaches Kageyama, figuring that he’ll wing it, and Kageyama says, “Before you ask it’s fine.”
“Huh?”
Kageyama meets Shouyou’s eyes and Shouyou feels his heart skip in his chest. He’s been running around with Kageyama between three to six nights a week for more than four months now and he’s still not over the way Kageyama’s face looks when he isn’t glaring.
“What your Captain’s said, it’s fine. I’ll be there Friday.”
Shouyou feels his face color. “Kageyama, are you having someone follow me?”
Kageyama’s eyes slide to the right of Shouyou’s face, like he’s looking at someone over Shouyou’s shoulder. “Not on purpose,” Kageyama says after a long moment.
Shouyou wracks his brain. He has a list of Kageyama’s ghosts and he tries to figure out which one is most likely to follow him around and tell Kageyama what he’s doing.
“It’s Morishi,” Kageyama sighs.
“I was gonna guess Morishi,” Shouyou insists. That’s not entirely true. He was going to guess Jiiya.
“No you weren’t,” Kageyama says. Then he stops and blinks, almost spacing out, before smirking.
“What did Sakugo say?” Shouyou demands because there’s only one ghost that makes Kageyama look like that.
“Nothing,” Kageyama says, smirk wiping off his face.
“Asshole,” Shouyou complains.
Kageyama would usually call Shouyou a name back, even the playing field, but something one of his ghosts says must be ridiculous because Kageyama goes red and looks away. “Whatever.”
“Ugh, you’re being weirder than normal,” Shouyou complains.
“I didn’t ask you to come bother me,” Kageyama snaps, still not looking at Shouyou.
“Whatever,” Shouyou mimics. Kageyama shoots him a glare. Now that Shouyou’s here he doesn’t want to leave so he reaches out and tugs at the shoulder of Kageyama’s uniform. “Come have lunch with me, Kageyama.”
Kageyama hesitates again, one of his really long ones that makes his eyebrows pinch together and his mouth twist downward. This is why people in his class call him creepy. “Okay,” Kageyama says at last, sounding harassed.
“Come on,” Shouyou says, pulling at Kageyama again. “I know a spot where people won’t bother us and you can be as creepy as you want.”
Kageyama rolls his eyes and stands up before going still, listening. At first Shouyou thinks he’s just going to stand there but then he follows Shouyou out the door and Shouyou lets himself smile at Kageyama as they walk through the halls, ignoring the whispers and glances of the other students.
Need more? Part four is here.

Day Twenty-One - Movie night
Fandom: Kamen Rider Saber
Pairing(s): Mei Sudo x Rintaro Shindo
Prompt: Day Twenty-One - Movie night
Notes:
Tonight was movie night at Mei and Rintaro's apartment and they had invited everyone over, including Sophia. Sophia, Ryo, and Tetsuo had declined the invitation, Sophia because she wanted to keep an eye on things at Northern Base, Ryo because it was a school night for Sora, and Tetsuo because he claimed he had projects to work on. That left Touma, Kento, and Ren as the only three to accept the movie night invitation. Touma and Mei were the only two that knew how movie nights worked, so it was their job to explain everything. Their explanation began with a trip to the store for snacks and drinks.
"I already bought all of the movies, so we just needs some snacks and drinks. I made a list of everything we need and we're going to split into two groups to get this done. Group one will be Rintaro and I, and we'll get the drinks. Group two will be Touma, Kento, and Ren, and you'll get the snacks."
Mei split the list in two, giving half to Touma and keeping the other half for herself.
"We'll meet back here at the front by the checkout when we've gathered everything on the lists."
The two groups split and headed toward their respective aisles. The drinks would be the easiest to gather as they didn't need much. Mei and Rintaro already had tea, coffee, and water back in the apartment, so they just needed some sodas and they'd be good to go. Mei pulled a few bottles off the shelf and handed a couple to Rintaro to carry.
"We're done! I wonder how Touma and his group are doing?"
Touma's group wasn't doing well at all. Kento was trying his best to mediate between Touma and Ren and Touma was trying his best not to hit Ren. Ren was grinning like an idiot as he proposed a challenge to Touma. The challenge was to see who could gather the most snacks the fastest. Ren was raring to go, but Touma had never agreed to the challenge. Now, Touma was angry at Ren, Ren didn't care, and Kento was trying to calm both of them down and salvage any sense of peace.
"Touma, please get everything on our list. I'll deal with Ren."
Touma nodded and walked down the aisle, looking at the shelves for each item on his list. Mei's list had different snacks on it such as popcorn, potato chips, and candy. Touma grabbed a few bags of each type of snack on the list and walked back over to Kento and Ren.
"I got all of the snacks, so we can head back to meet Mei and Rintaro now. How did everything go over here?"
Kento dropped his voice down to a whisper, "Everything went just fine. We had a little discussion and he settled down for now. I have no idea why he's like this, Touma. What makes a person believe that strength itself is justice? I'm worried that Ren is going to pick a fight with the wrong person and something bad is going to happen to him. He's like the little brother I never had, Touma. I couldn't take it if something bad happened to him."
"He's a Kamen Rider like us, Kento." Touma smiled and put his hand on his best friend's shoulder. "He's strong, fast, and knows how to fight and defend himself. He'll be fine."
Kento nodded. Maybe a relaxing movie night was just what he needed to move his mind away from his current thoughts. He'd have to bring his thoughts to Sophia.
"Alright, let's go meet Mei and Rintaro at the front. They're probably wondering what's taking us so long."
Kento and Ren nodded, walking out of the snack aisle with Touma. It took them, roughly, two or three minutes to get back up front to meet Mei and Rintaro.
"Where have you been? We've been waiting for a bit now!"
"We needed to find everything on the list."
"Let's just pay for everything and get back to the apartment. I already have the first movie picked out!"
Touma looked at Rintaro, as if silently asking him what she'd chosen. Rintaro shrugged, as Mei hadn't told him what movie she'd chosen for them to watch first. Mei and the boys walked up to the checkout counter and waited as their purchases were rung up. Mei paid and gave each of the boys a bag to carry. They all made their way back to Mei and Rintaro's apartment and brought the bags into the kitchen. Bowls and cups clattered around as everyone was busy getting what they wanted before the movie started. While everyone was getting their concessions, Mei stuck the movie into the player and waited for everyone else. Touma, Rintaro, Ren, and Kento filed into the living room and took their seats, Mei and Rintaro on the couch, Touma in the chair, and Kento and Ren on the floor. Mei grabbed the remote and started the movie. As soon as the opening screen appeared, it became clear what type of movie Mei chose first. It was a classic horror film.
As soon as a particularly gory or scary scene of the film began, Mei would squeak a bit and squeeze Rintaro's hand. Rintaro would squeeze her hand back in silent support. This went on for the remainder of the movie. Once the movie was over, Ren began lamenting the weaknesses of the characters, commenting on how horror movie protagonists should be stronger. Touma wanted to say something, but held his tongue, not wanting to get into a fight. Mei went over to the video player and exchanged the horror film for an action one.
"For those who didn't care for the horror movie, I hope you like this one!"
They did. While they didn't dislike the horror movie, the action movie held their attention better. By the end of the second movie, Mei was asleep, snuggled up against Rintaro's side. Touma took the movie out of the player, shut off the TV, and motioned for the others to help him clean up while entrusting Rintaro with the task of putting Mei to bed. Rintaro understood his message and picked Mei up, carrying her to their bedroom. He placed her down on her side of the bed and covered her with the covers and blankets. After making sure she was asleep, he joined the other boys in their cleanup efforts.

𝓐𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓵 (Ryo Asuka x plus size reader) 𝓹𝓪𝓻𝓽 1
Tumblr media
HeyHey my little angel, I’ve been a little off from Tumblr wasn’t I? Well I’ve been thinking about new fanfics and I’ve been enjoying the summer holidays, I hope everything is all right with you! From now on I’ll start writing again, and I’ll bring you news, in a few days I’ll open the requests again, so be aware!!
 ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦
 𝓯𝓪𝓷𝓭𝓸𝓶: Devilman crybaby
𝔀𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼: none ( for now 🌚)
 ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✦ ✧ ✦
The sky seems more starry tonight, it seems like a dream you don’t want to wake up to, you miss the old days when you were with the people you loved the most, but that was a long time ago, until one of us left and you had to say goodbye to the only boy you really loved.
It has been a few years since you last saw Akira, he is older than you 2years so he has always treated you like a younger sister, Ryo was the same age as Akira and he treat you…well he treat you like a friend.
The last time you saw Akira and you were 8 and he was 10 years old, of course they still exchanged messages and letters, but since your parents moved to Europe when you were 8 it was always a bit more complicated. After so many years you still felt the pain of having to see Akira crying after the news of you leaving, you knew the pain of losing someone you care about because some months before your best friend had left too.
The three of you were inseparable, you and Akira were more emotional and more connected to each other, but your heart had chosen Ryo to be the person you would fall in love with.. why? You admired him and you always felt safe around him, besides he taught you many things and you were always amazed how a boy with only 10 years old could be so intelligent.
You and Ryo had a bit of a strange relationship, you were different ages and had different mentalities but that didn’t stop you from falling in love with him. The day he left you and Akira cried a lot and fell asleep crying, it was painful to see someone you loved go away, you spent weeks a little depressed, but after some time you already felt better with Akira’s help.
Since then, since you knew nothing about Ryo, you always tried to ask Akira through the letters you wrote but you always received the same answer “I don’t know anything about him either… I miss him too”. Where would he be? Would he still remember you? Nobody but you knew the feelings you had for him, neither your parents nor Akira and you preferred to keep it that way, it was easier to try to forget him… at least that was the idea you had in the first years but no matter how hard you tried it was almost impossible to forget his crystalline eyes… so you decided to hide these feelings only for yourself, of course you tried to have some kind of loving relationship with other boys but they didn’t last more than a week.
Today was the day you came back to Akira’s side, he was living with some friends from his parents and only they knew that you would come back, they offered if you stay with them and that was great news. You missed him, he was your brother from other parents, the last time they spoke was a few weeks ago and since then you try to hide the surprise of moving in with him.
It was a few hours before you got to the Makimura’s place and you couldn’t stop thinking about how Akira would be now.
You felt so comfortable that you ended up falling asleep in the cab on the way home, it had been a long trip and you were really tired. The hours seemed like minutes and without realizing it you had already arrived at the Makimura’s house.
“Thank you sir” you said when you took the bags out of the trunk and put them down, you thanked him and said goodbye.
A few seconds after you got out of the car you walked to the front door, you noticed that they had a motorcycle at the gate, whose would it be?You rang the bell and waited for someone to open it, you kept looking to the side waiting until they opened the door.
“Y/n?? Oh hi my name is Miki Makimura, come in,” she said giving you a space to come in.
“O-okay, and nice to meet you miss miki” you came in and looked down.
“Miss Miki? you don’t have to call me that, we are friends now, please call me miki” She said with a huge smile on her face, she was really nice, I remember Akira talking about her in one of the letters.
“S-sure” you looked up and saw a smile from her dirrored to you, you felt a warmth in your heart, it was so good to be back.
“Well akira hasn’t arrived yet, he’s at a friend’s house and he won’t be back until later and my parents went on a business trip so it’s just the two of us and my younger brother” she bent down and grabbed my bag “you’re staying in my room for now, I hope you don’t mind”.
“Of course not, I’m the one who has to apologize for being in the way” you smiled lightly following to your room.
“And here we are, it’s a small room but it’s good for both of us” Miki smiled and put my bag on the floor near the bed.
“I loved it, it’s like my room in France, I lived there for two years”you said sitting on the bed, feeling miki sitting next to you “you traveled a lot, huh?” Miki asked if lying in bed.
“Yes…my parents’ job took us everywhere, the place I was the longest was here, where I met Akira and …. Well I spent 8 years here and then my parents took me to Europe, and we didn’t spend more than a year in a place, except in France, where I was two years” you explained lying next to her “honestly it’s good to come home, this feeling of nostalgia is good”.
“I’m happy for you, and I’m very happy to be with you personally, I’ve heard a lot of stories from you.” Miki said leaning on her elbow and looking at you, “Akira won’t shut up, he only talks about you, I think he’ll love it when he finds out that you’re here.”you look at Miki with a confused look
"Have you heard a lot about me? I thought akira didn’t speak so honestly” you smiled and stared at the ceiling, you’re so excited to be able to hug him again.
“So Y/n how old are you? I remember Akira saying that you are younger than us” Miki turned to you-
“Oh I’m 16, I’m two years younger, Akira always treated me like a younger sister… to speak truthfully I miss him” you spoke turning you in his direction to face her.
“Oh that’s really interesting and sweet, I hope you don’t mind me treating you like a little sister” she said laughing.
“Of course not! I always wanted an older sister! And once again Miki thanks for welcoming me here” you said and smiled at her and ended up laughing.
You two spent some time talking and did not realize the time, when you looked at the window it was already dark outside, you suddenly heard a noise on the floor below:
“Miki I’m home!!” this voice… was Akira? since when does he have a hoarse voice? “I’m coming down!!” miki answered looked at me
“Well, your best friend has arrived, shall we?“ she said and pulled you by the arm.
We went down and when I saw him he didn’t look the same defenseless and crying boy from 8 years ago, he was now tall, muscular, his hair was uneven, he was much more attractive
"Miki I saw some bags down here, your parents hadn’t left in the morning?” Akira said turning around and stopping the moment he saw you:
"Y/N?!?! ITS REALLY YOU!” he ran towards me and hugged you  “I DON’T BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE HERE” he said by grabbing your body.
“H-hi, I missed you and I decided to come back, I’m sorry I left” you said embracing him “ Akira, you’re suffocating me” you said laughing a little bit. “oh sorry, it’s just that I was so happy to see you again, what are you doing here?” he asked away a little but not leaving the hug
“I came to live with you, I got tired of traveling with my parents, and Miki’s parents offered to take me in” you said with a smile and looking at him “and since when did you get so tall? you were my size when we were kids” you laughed and hugged him again.
“I think we can say puberty was generous to me, unlike you, you are still lower than I remember” he laughed and separated from your embrace and sat down on the sofa.
“Ah Ah, you became a comedian? I’ve grown up a lot, and let me sit there” you said, walking on the sofa to sit next to him.
“First of all I’m going to the supermarket and then I’m going to get the …., have some fun” Miki said laughing.
“Okay” both replied in harmony seeing Miki leave home.
“So tell me all the news, how did you get like this?” “It’s a long story but I think you have time to talk now” Akira said seriously The conversation flowed and Akira told everything that was going on including the part of Ryo… that he had returned home, why didn’t he contact you? did he still remember you? There were too many questions in your head, Akira realized the confusion of feelings and put a hand on your shoulder.
“Akira…do you think Ryo still remembers me?” you asked facing your hands.
“I think so, I was surprised to see him myself, but I’m sure so” he smiled and you tried to smile back but you were confused and hurt, you knew you were such an important person in his life, but did he ever have an interest? Some time passed and you both fell asleep on the sofa, you woke up with a weight on your belly, still a little sleepy, you looked at the place to see what Akira’s arm was around you ‘I have to find a way out, I have to help Miki make dinner’ you thought and tried to drag Akira’s arm to the side.
After a few minutes of many attempts you finally succeeded, you got up from the sofa and walked to the kitchen and glanced Miki in the cutting some ingredients. “Do you need help?” you asked with an embarrassed smile
“I’m sorry I fell asleep, because of the trip I’m very tired it was almost impossible for me to stay awake” you explained while looking at her with an embarrassed look.
“Don’t worry Y/n, I understand, and yes we can cook together it’s always more fun to cook with someone” she smiled and grabbed both your hands. You smiled and followed her directions.
Finally you felt at home!
  𝒪𝓃𝑒 𝓂𝑜𝓃𝓉𝒽 𝓁𝒶𝓉𝑒𝓇
You were living with the Makimura and Akira for a month now, it was really a dream and a nightmare to live with them, you, Akira and Miki always went to school and stayed until late to see their athletics training, it was an intressful sport but not for you, Even though you were younger than them, Akira always made it a point to left you in your classroom, It was a bit uncomfortable, listening to the girls’ comments addressed to you, because you were always with Akira but you didn’t really want to know that for anything.
You were supposed to go to the athletics training but as you had a math test that week, so you decided to stay and study in the library, and without realizing the hours went by and when you looked at the clock it was already 6pm. Is it already 6 pm? I’ll be home late and it’s raining a lot and I don’t have an umbrella’ you thought about how fucked up you were, you packed your books in your backpack and almost ran out. You could feel your heart beating, when you were leaving the building you felt a hand on your shoulder and you automatically got scared and put yourself in an attack position.
“WOW take it easy, fighter, we don’t want you to rip my arm off” Akira said laughing “Where have you been?”
“Oh I had an exam this week and spent the afternoon in the library, sorry I should have warned you” you said laughing, you looked more closely at him and saw two motorcycle helmets in his hand “are you going somewhere with someone?” you asked a little curious.
"Yes with you” he said quietly walking “I’m going to take you somewhere, so I stayed here waiting for you to leave. Come on".
“Wait  what? Do you know what time it is Fudo? We don’t have much time to go out there and besides it’s raining” you said refusing to move.
“Don’t worry, I already told Miki and you’ll like where we’re going, so come on” he paused waiting for your reaction but you didn’t move
“Is that how you want it? It’s ok” he went to you and picked you up like a potato bag.
“AKIRA FUDO! it’s raining, i’m going to be sick on Idiot” you screamed as you felt the rain wetting all your uniform, he put you on the bike and gave you the helmet.
“If I die on top of this I will haunt you for the rest of your life” you said a little in panic.
“ahahaha don’t worry, it’s okay!” he laughed and took off. He was going really fast it was almost impossible not to have a accent but for your happiness nothing happened, you were watching everyone around and you saw that they were going towards a huge building.
He parked the bike and helped you down.
“Oh how thoughtful Fudo I had never seen a building before, now we can go home” you asked looking at it as it walked towards the entrance of the building.
“Ah it’s really boring sometimes, don’t spoil the surprise, it took me days to get you here” he said opening the elevator shaft.
“Where are we anyway?” you asked curiously.
“At Ryo’s house, he owns the building and its surrounding area, I told him what I was bringing with me today, honestly I think he already knows it’s you” RYO? WAIT YOU IN THIS MOMENT ARE GOING TO RYO’S HOUSE?  you feel dizzy, and nervous, excited but scared, what will you tell him when you see him? Akira turned to you and realized again the confusion of feelings.
“You don’t have to worry, only if you yourself and let the conversation flow, so much for what I know he also missed you” those words hypnotized your mind. You heard the sound of the elevator a stops, you took a deep breath and you left the elevator… it was all white, wide and white, it was as if you were entering the sky.
“Good afternoon jenny! Do you still remember Y/n? she was 8 years old when you saw her” Akira said
“Of course, how are you?” Jenny asked, you couldn’t fool her, she was a bit scary.
“I’m fine, thank you” you said with a warm smile on your face.
“Jenny where is Ryo” Akira asked you sitting on the sofa and pulling you to do the same, you looked around…
“I’m here, sorry for taking so long, as it was raining I asked jenny to prepare the service bathroom so you could take a bath”
When you finally looked back at him, all dressed in white, he had grown a lot too and was more attractive, you felt your Heart stopping a bit when his gaze crossed yours, you look quickly forward feeling your face burning. Akira got up quickly and went to hug Ryo, confused looked back to see you still sitting on the sofa looking forward intensely.
Ryo approached the sofa and squatted beside you.
“After 8 years, this is how you will greet me?” he looked intensely at you, you turned your face slowly and still felt your heart beating super fast.
“H-hi Ryo, it’s good to finally see you again” you said shaking and smiling a little nervous
“Its really good to see you too Y/n” his answer was short but you couldn’t resist much more, without thinking you jumped off the sofa and hugged him hard, and to your surprise you felt him hugging you too, it was so comforting to be in his arms, his smell had changed now his smell was characterized by the smell of weapons, cigarettes and alcohol.
   𝑅𝓎𝑜 𝒫𝑜𝓋
I looked away from the computer and observed the view from the window, it was raining a lot, I looked at the phone next to me and noticed that I had two messages from Akira.
Akira: Sorry I’m late, I just found her now
Akira: We are there in 10 minutes
I sighed and stood up slowly rubbing the back of my head.
“Jenny?” I called looking through the window glass.
“Yes?” jenny asked by my side. “Can you set up the service bathroom for when they arrive? and put the bag of clothes I bought there,” I said, walking away and walking up the stairs to the top floor. Why did he go to so much trouble to bring her here? She will be a distraction in our objective and I can’t let that happen. In a few minutes I heard voices downstairs, I left my room and approached the stairs, I could see her from there, she hadn’t changed much yet she was still small and her body was not the ideal that society asked but still she was beautiful, I felt the chest heavy but I could not let this affect me in any way.I went down the stairs and interrupted the conversation:
“I’m here, sorry for taking so long, as it was raining I asked jenny to prepare the service bathroom so you could take a bath” I said approaching them, I watched Akira get up from the sofa to greet me but curiously she didn’t get up, she looked back and our gaze crossed if, her face was red and could see that her breathing was faster than normal. hugged akira and without thinking I approached the sofa squatting next to her waiting for a reaction.
“After 8 years, this is how you will greet me?” I said staring at her, slowly she turned her head to face me, her cheeks were red and her gaze was shy.
“H-hi Ryo, it’s good to finally see you again” her voice was shaking, she was nervous to see me? but why? without hesitating I answered calmly
“Its really good to see you too Y/n” I quickly saw the relief in her gaze, and in a few seconds her body was clinging to mine, automatically my body moved and corresponded to her embrace for a moment I let my body relax next to hers, her smell was mesmerizing, it was delicate but at the same time strong, my body almost melted close to hers.
𝒴𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝒫𝑜𝓋
You felt his body relaxing in yours for a moment it seemed like nothing else existed around you, but in a few seconds we were back to realidader. ~
“The bathroom is ready to use,” Jenny said, forcing Ryo’s body to separate from yours, for a moment you felt empty.
“Y/n if you want you can go first, I bought some clothes for you, they were there in a bag, I hope you like it” Ryo said when he got up, your gaze looked at him, you got up and followed him, you looked back and saw Akira sitting on the sofa moving his phone. “This is it, you can take your time, I asked jenny to buy some more delicate products for you, since from now on you will begin to participate in the missions with us…but we will talk about it later” Ryo said opening the bathroom door giving you space to pass, when you entered he closed the door.
You couldn’t believe you were in the bathroom at Ryo’s house right now…it’s been eight years since you last saw him, both of you had changed…it was a lot of information to keep track of at that moment.
You took off your wet clothes and went into the shower, the water was warm and on the wall there were lots of buttons, he really was too rich to have a bathroom like that. You got out of the shower and rolled up in a towel, you walked up to the black and red bag and took off some clothes, when you saw the mark you got scared, they were very expensive marks, how come he bought this for you? you took a dark green hoddie and some jeans and looked at yourself in the mirror, nearby there was a basket full of perfumes and expensive creams, it was really frightening the amount of money he had spent on things for you, you chose a random perfume and got out of the bathroom.
You walked to the room again and saw Ryo sitting on the sofa stirring the computer, you approached and sat a little far from him.
“Thanks for the clothes and the perfumes, I promise I’ll return everything as soon as I wash,” you said looking down, yet you could feel his gaze drifting away from the computer screen to you.
“You don’t have to give it back, from now on I’ll offer you everything you need, so keep the clothes with you,” he said smiling lightly, but his gaze was still on you “I suppose Akira told you everything about what’s going on,” ryo said as he put the laptop on our side.
“Yes he told me…” you were silent for a while waiting for a reaction from him “Ryo? What did you mean when you said I would be part of the missions?” you looked at him with a confused look, you had too many questions in your head to be able to reason properly
“What I wanted to say is that it’s too late to let it go, and I know that Akira will feel safer if you’re around… but I promised him nothing will happen to you I’ll protect you myself” even though his words seemed cold, your heart reacted in a different way making you blush
“Oh… I understand and thank you… I don’t want to get in trouble with anyone especially the two of you” you said by looking away and looking at the ground, until it occurred to you that someone was missing “Where’s Akira?” you said by looking everywhere
“Ah he went to buy some things at the mall, you two were going to stay here for the night” Ryo said as he got up from the sofa and walked to a small closet taking out a vodka bottle, walked to the window and opening it looking through the glass while the rain fell in the pool water.
To be in his presence after so many years is increasibly hypnotizing, he seems mysterious, cold, inaccessible, you could feel your heart beating fast, you wanted to get close to him, but the shame of your feelings did not leave you.
“Y/n…” lost in your thoughts you were dragged back to reality with the voice of ryo calling you.
“Yes?” you stood up and walked to him, you waited for him to continue. “I heard that you’ve been traveling for these years, what made you come again to Japan?” he questioned without taking his eyes off the glass, you look at the landscape, gaining courage to answer him.
“I couldn’t forget the memories I made here, I couldn’t forget the friendships I had made, and no place in the world gave me the feeling of calm and security that you gave me here…I couldn’t forget Akira…I couldn’t forget you” without noticing you had revealed the nostalgia you felt for him, you immediately closed your eyes and cursed yourself mentally.
“To tell you the truth I knew where you were, all this time I had people who inform me about you and Akira, but I admit that seeing you in person was unexpectedly good” he says, walking away from the window and sitting back on the sofa putting his computer on his lap
“Why don’t you come sit here? I knew you were good at research and languages, you could help me translate a document” he said looking back at your waiting, you smiled and nodded and sat down next to him. ~

Tail Feathers, part 1
Unfinished and unedited (and therefore untagged, please don’t reblog) but computer is dying and I wanted to get something up tonight. @viomuses I hope you like it. Don’t rush to read though I know you’ve got plenty on, this will wait :3
Studying abroad, the school had told his parents, to explain Fubuki’s absence from school. They’d believed it too. Only Asuka had noticed the lack of flair in the emails home, and he’d be thankful forever for her tireless efforts to bring him back from the clutches of Darkness.
The school wanted to keep the whole thing quiet, of course. If word got out it would be bad for Headmaster Samejima, bad for the academy, bad for Seto Kaiba, bad for duelling as a whole they said. But if Fubuki had to stay quiet on the matter he needed some encouragement; and he needed to know more about the foreign shores he’d allegedly been shipped off to, he said. Samejima had capitulated, eventually. Now Fubuki had free trips whenever he liked.
He’d picked Granada this time, for a week of flamenco guitar lessons. It had been fun but he was a little disappointed no-one had come in to dance. He’d have to see about putting on a performance back at the Academia. Maybe Asuka could be persuaded to dance, and Manjoume could accompany him on castanets.
He’d seen the big sights early in the week – the Alhambra, the cathedral, the various distinct and atmospheric neighbourhoods – and was now at a loose end. The riverside walk was pretty, but such things were meant to be enjoyed with a partner or two, and he was alone.
Loneliness was something of a constant state for Fubuki of late. Ryo had moved on, and if there had been anyone else he’d been close to, he wasn’t quite sure any more. Manjoume and Judai and the rest were friendly enough but still he felt like they hadn’t completely accepted him as one of their own. Maybe his age, maybe his experience, maybe his lack of enthusiasm for duelling, something set him apart. It felt wrong. He felt wrong.
He pushed the feeling down, buried it next to his memories of the Seven Stars and the weird itch at the back of his mind, and looked up to the blue sky. The sun always rose, darkness always passed, and the warmth on his skin would eventually penetrate to his heart.
A bird flew overhead and landed on the roof of a house opposite. It looked like a pigeon, shades of grey and blue. It seemed that two long white feathers had been pulled from her tail and Fubuki wondered if she had been hurt. He crossed the road to see, when a strange clapping sound came from behind.
Dozens of brightly coloured birds swept in a great arc towards the house. The colossal fluttering of wings calmed as they began to perch next to the first. They circled her, cooing and calling, occasionally taking to the air for a moment before settling in to a closer spot.
The hen took flight and the others followed, a tumultuous cloud of neon against brick and tile and sky. The ever-shifting colours were entrancing, and Fubuki jogged to catch up.
There were a few other men following the birds, their caps pulled down and hands thrown up against the glare of the sun. He fell in behind them. They seemed too engaged in watching the birds to pay him any mind, so Fubuki didn’t worry too much about trying to use his minimal Spanish.
They were painted, he realised, as a couple of birds landed in front of him and strutted around. Greens and purples and yellows, stripes and spots and faded blocks disguising the natural plumage. Fubuki crouched, reaching his hand out. One of the pair twitched its head, eyeing him keenly.
Fubuki felt a hand on his shoulder. One of the men was saying something to him in Spanish. He didn’t understand, but stood anyway, at least to look like he was paying attention.
“It is competition,” the man tried again, in English this time.
“Competition?” That word Fubuki knew.
The man pointed to the flowing circle of bright feathers surrounding the single female. “They fight for her love.”
Fubuki smiled. And Asuka had said learning song lyrics wouldn’t help him communicate in English. “Does she get tired?”
“She will come back if she wants,” the man demurred. “If she is tired, or if she is hungry, or if she does not like them.”
“She looked hurt,” said Fubuki. “Her feathers…”
The man looked blank for a moment, before realising. “The white feathers? They are tied on. The males, they chase the white feathers. It does not hurt her.”
“Is she yours?”
If anyone was entitled to puff out their chest with pride, it would surely be a pigeon fancier, and he did so. “She is.”
The fluttering started again as the female and her suitors headed for a nearby tree. Fubuki and his companion followed quietly behind. “She seems a lovely young lady, she has many admirers.”
Fubuki found himself pulled into a firm handshake, the other’s hand resting on Fubuki’s wrist for added emphasis. “My name is Javier,” he said, “pleased to meet you.”

Day Thirteen - Doing each other’s makeup/picking each other’s outfits
Fandom: Kamen Rider Saber
Pairing(s): Mei Sudo x Rintaro Shindo
Prompt: Day Thirteen - Doing each other’s makeup/picking each other’s outfits
Notes: As with Rituals!, this piece takes place in an AU, a Hogwarts AU.
Mei pulled Rintaro down the cobblestone paths of Diagon Alley. He was trying his hardest to keep up with her, but she was moving far too quickly for his liking. He felt as though, if she didn't slow down, he was going to accidentally let go of her hand and tumble to the ground.
"Why are you moving so fast? Please slow down!"
"I'm so excited! The Yule Ball is tonight and we need new clothes!"
Rintaro had no idea why he couldn't wear his usual clothing to the Ball, or what the Ball was. Was the Yule Ball a gathering or a party of some type?
"Why am I not able to wear my usual clothing?"
"This is the Yule Ball, Rintaro. You need to look your best! We might be undercover, but the Headmistress and Sophia-san would still like us to attend!"
He still wasn't very sure about the entire experience. They hadn't even made it to the clothing shop yet and, already, Rintaro felt a sense of dread wash over him. He had never been to any sort of ball, gala, or party before, so the Yule Ball festivities would be a brand new experience for him. The other thing he was worried about was if there was any type of attack during the party. If something attacked, he, Touma, Kento, Ryo, and Ren would be unable to access their Wonder Ride Books and belts, so the quintet would have to find another way of fighting back. He remembered the Headmistress making sure they all had something called a wand, which would afford them all a different way of fighting back, but Rintaro was used to Nagare. He wanted Nagare. He couldn't wait until this undercover mission was over.
Almost as soon as Mei had pulled him out of the castle, pushed him onto the train, and pulled him down the cobblestones, they had finally arrived at Madame Malkin's. Rintaro was finally able to catch his breath as he stood in front of the shop, looking in each of the windows. After catching her own breath, Mei ran up to the door and opened it, ushering Rintaro inside Madame Malkin's shop. The seamstress walked up from the back of her shop and addressed the couple.
"Hello, hello! What can I do for you today?"
"We've come here to find some clothes for the Yule Ball tonight! I know it may be cutting things a bit close, but we really just need something for him." Mei gestured to Rintaro, who wished he could melt into the floor.
Madame Malkin must have noticed or sensed his discomfort because she placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"You'll be fine, dear. This isn't as bad as you think. Now, you may wish to join your girlfriend over there," Madam Malkin pointed to a rack of dress robes Mei was perusing, "as she looks like she may have found something."
Rintaro nodded and made his way over to where Mei was perusing the dress robe selection.
"What have you found?"
"What about this?" Mei showed him a dress robe set that consisted of a black suit jacket, a black vest, a white undershirt, black pants, black dress shoes, and a blue tie.
"Do I have to wear all of this?" The vest looked, frankly, uncomfortable.
"I think you could get away with not wearing the vest, but you'll have to wear the jacket, the shirt, the pants, the shoes, and the tie."
"That seems fair."
"Alright, let's get this up to Madam Malkin and see if she needs to do any hemming. We don't want you to trip on your pants or jacket because they were too long."
Rintaro nodded, then realized Mei still needed a dress for the Ball.
"What about a dress for you? Do you already have one?"
"No, but we were here to get dress robes for you."
"You need something to wear tonight too, Mei. Shall we look around?"
Mei nodded, unsure they were going to find anything for her to wear to the Yule Ball. She gave the dress robe set to Madam Malkin and asked her to hold onto it until they were finished. The older woman smiled and set the clothing behind her counter. The couple walked over to the dress section of the shop and began looking at all of the different styles and colors. Some dresses Mei ruled out simply because of the size and others were ruled out because of the style. Some were too low-cut, some she didn't like the sleeves, and some she didn't like the straps.
"What do you think about this one?" Rintaro pulled a dress off one of the racks and showed her.
The dress was blue, matching his tie, and floor-length. She had no idea how she'd be able to walk in it without tripping, but it did look nice. It had a halter lace bodice and an illusion-style neckline. It didn't show too much and it looked like it would fit comfortably.
"Do you like this dress?"
Mei nodded.
"Then this will be the dress you wear to the festivities tonight."
The couple walked up to the counter, where Madam Malkin smiled and greeted them again. She pulled out her magical tape measure and took each of their measurements. She altered the clothes to match their measurements, rang everything up, and accepted the payment Mei gave her. Once they purchased their clothing for the Yule Ball, they walked out of Madam Malkin's shop and headed back toward the train station to catch a train that would take them back to Hogwarts.
