Ryland has taser scars on the back of his neck from his father. Of all of his scars, those are the ones he's the most self-conscious about because they're the hardest to cover up.

Growing up, Ryland was not allowed to watch movies. Because of this, he hasn't seen more than a handful and most of those were because of Peri.

Ryland hates what he does and wants nothing more than to quit. However, there's no real way for him to walk away because his dad will never let him.

Ryland technically lives out of his truck. Sure, he could stay in hotels, but that would make it easier for his family to track him and, honestly, Ryland does his best to avoid them when he can. As far as he's concerned, his truck is home.

Ryland has had metal plating in his ribs since he was 17.

Growing up, Ryland was never allowed to have pets. He would have loved to have a dog especially, but it wasn't allowed. Animals were tools, not pets. If he had tried to sneak in a pet, his father would have made him "get rid of it" and that would have meant with a bullet.

1: 1rst Love

They went to this little diner in town that was supposed to have the best desserts around. All they ate was cake and pie and picked the most annoying songs they could find on the jukebox while giggling.

12: Angel

Ryland loved how bright and full of life Mal was when they were young. All he wants is for Mal to find a way back to that. He wants nothing more than for Mal to see the world as something good again. 

4: True Love

They didn’t. Ryland’s family saw to it. If he were ever to be given a second chance though, he would try his damnedest to make it last and not let Mal get hurt again.

15: 2Nite ;)

Anything where they can forget the rest of the world exists. Ry’s favorite memory was the first time he told Mal he loved him, hidden in a little alcove during the pouring rain. He would consider that a date for sure.

They only got to go on a few actual dates before everything went to shit. It wasn’t easy sneaking around to go on real dates with how homophobic Ry’s dad was (even if he was supposed to get close to Mal at the time)

Ryland almost never goes by any nicknames, including Ry. His father hates when he goes by anything other than his full and proper first name and Ryland goes out of his way to not anger his father when he can manage it.

Yes. They pretty much start off living together out of Ryland’s truck and hotel rooms until Ry manages to get away from his dad and that bullshit.

Not at first due to it just not being safe. But once the dust settles and they are able to do that sort of over the top mushy show off stuff, they overcompensate for the months where they couldn’t.

The entire start of their relationship was basically one big date so even after everything settles, their idea of a date still involves taking the truck out to the middle of nowhere and just having that time alone with nothing but the sky above them.

Ryland honestly and genuinely did love Malachi when they were teens (honestly, he never stopped loving him either). It absolutely broke his heart to have him torn away from him like that. It was also the moment he started to hate his father. Ry didn’t recognize the abuse as abuse because it was all he knew but knowing his dad was hurting Mal? That was different. 

Coltrane took everything of Mal’s that had been in Ryland’s room and burned it while making his son watch. He had a couple others in the family hold him back until the last item was tossed in the flames. Ryland burned the hell of his hands trying to salvage anything. The scars aren’t really noticeable unless he’s been in the sun too long. They look discolored when he’s more tanned.

The only time Ryland was ever happy was during the small amount of time he and Malachi were together. Mal was the only good thing that had ever happened to him and hates so much that he had been used to lure Mal in. Even if anyone that knows about the situation could ever forgive him, Ryland will never forgive himself for it.

A head canon: When Ryland decided to propose to Lex, he talked to Cord about it first. Not to ask permission, but more so to make sure he wasn’t going to get shot for it. Cord told him she’d shoot him if he didn’t marry Lex.

it's commitment, it's devotion, it goes often without saying, but is felt nonetheless. it's accepting that you would travel to hell and back for them if they asked and knowing that they would do the same for you. it's an old ache, long after they've burrowed deep into your chest and settled there like a weight- grounding, an anchor point. even when you're apart, you can still feel the shape of them, it's like phantom pain. neither of you can help but succumb to the other's gravity, yet neither of you fear the collision. it means that you trust them, that they make you feel safe, that they feel like home.

Ryland has a fair amount of scars from his work, but most of the scars are actually from his dad. At one point, his dad broke his ribs bad enough that it’s still kind of hard to breathe in colder weather.

Not all hunters have specialties, but Ryland does. His is shapeshifters. Werewolves, werecats, etc. Pretty much anything both human and animal.
