10 Ways to Save Money on Flights: Travel Tips
Introduction
You daydream about international travel despite feeling restricted by expensive air ticket prices during your dreams. You’re not alone! Travel expenses are mostly determined by the cost of airfare.

When I planned my initial international journey to Thailand, I vividly recall my situation. I felt uncertain because my budget was limited, while flight costs remained expensive at the time. After prolonged research and multiple tests, I managed to purchase a round-trip ticket for less than $400.
This post includes my selection of the ten most effective strategies for finding affordable flights and decreasing travel expenses. This article begins now without additional delay.
1. Best Time to Book Flights
Why It Works:
Prices vary with the airline’s demand. Fruiting on less-demand days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays) can help you achieve a 20-30% shroud.
How to Do It:
Use Google Flights’ Date Grid:
Go to Google Flights.
Enter your departure city and destination.
Click “Date Grid” to see prices for an entire month. Example: A mid-week flight from NYC to Paris might cost 450 vs. 450,700 on weekends.
Try Skyscanner’s “Cheapest Month” Tool:
Search your route on Skyscanner.
Select “Whole Month” or “Cheapest Month” to find the lowest fares.
Pro Tip: Pair flexibility with shoulder seasons (e.g., Europe in May or September) for double the benefits to maximise your savings.
2. Book in Advance (But Not Too Early)
The Goldilocks Window:
Domestic Flights: Book 6–8 weeks out (e.g., a Chicago to LA flight booked 2 months early averages 200 vs. 400 last-minute).
International Flights: Book 3–5 months out (e.g., NYC to Tokyo booked 4 months early: 800 vs. 800 vs. 1,200).
Tools to Track Trends:
Hopper predicts price drops with 95% accuracy.
Google Flights Price Graph: Shows historical trends for your route.

3. Use Flight Comparison Websites Like a Pro
Step-by-Step Guide:
Skyscanner’s “Everywhere” Feature:
Type “Everywhere” as your destination.
Filter by budget (e.g., “Under 500”). Example: You might find 500 round-trip flights from LA to Costa Rica.
Google Flights’ Multi-City Tool:
Kiwi.com’s “Nomad” Feature:
Enter your budget and travel dates for a surprise destination.
Pro Tip: Always check incognito mode to avoid dynamic pricing tricks.
4. Set Up Price Alerts Strategically
Tools & tactics:
Google Flights:
Search your route.
Toggle “Track Prices” to get email alerts.
Secret Flying & Scott’s Cheap Flights:
Subscribe to error fare newsletters (e.g., $250 round-trip to Europe).
Real-Life Example: I tracked NYC to Lisbon for 3 weeks and saved $200 when prices dropped during a mid-week sale.
Pro Tip: Use multiple devices (phone, laptop) to check prices—some airlines show lower fares on mobile!
5. Master Budget Airlines (Without the Hidden Fees)
Baggage Fees Tip Ryanair Europe: $25 checked bag. Pre-book meals to save 50%. AirAsia: $15 checked bag Book during mega sales (e.g., $10 flights!). SpiritAmericas $45 carry-on Use their “$9 Fare Club” for discounts.
How to Avoid Fees:
Bring a 40-litre rucksack (folds under seats).
Pre-register for bags online (receive 20% savings above airport fees).
6. Turn Layovers into Adventures
Flight: NYC → Istanbul → Bali.
Savings: $400 vs direct.
Layover Hack: Use Turkish Airlines’ free Istanbul city tour during a 6+ hour layover.
Tools:
AirWander: Finds layover flights and calculates savings.
LoungeBuddy: Access to airport lounges is available for 30 (compared to 50 at the door).
Pro Tip: Use the chance to plan overnight layovers to save on accommodation for a night!
7. Hack Frequent Flyer Programs
Step-by-step point maximisation:
Sign Up for Dining Programs:
Link your credit card to airline dining portals (e.g., United MileagePlus Dining) to earn 5x points at restaurants.
Credit card bonuses:
Chase Sapphire Preferred: Earn 60,000 points (worth $750 in travel) after spending $750 in travel after spending $4,000 in 3 months.
Transfer Points:
Convert Chase points to United Miles for a 20% bonus value.
An example of actual life is that I used 50,000 Amex points to book a $1,200 business class seat in Tokyo.
8. Book Connecting Flights Separately
How to Do It Safely:
Route Example:
NYC → London (300) + London → Athens (300) + London → Athens (80) = $380 total.
Traditional multi-city ticket: $600.
Leave a buffer:
You can book at least 4 hours between the flights to Amsterdam with no risk of missing your connections.
Tool: Kiwi.com’s “Nomad” and “Multi-City” search.
9. Travel Off-Peak Like a Local
Off-Peak Calendar:
Cheap Avg. Flight Europe Jan–Mar, Nov $500 round-trip Japan Late April (post-cherry blossom) $600 round-trip Hawaii Sept-Oct $350 round-trip
One can locate off-peak flight specials on Google Flights through its “Explore” map tool.
10. Clear Cookies & Use VPNs
How Airlines Track You:
Dynamic pricing algorithms raise prices if you search repeatedly.
Fix It:
People can use Incognito Mode along with DuckDuckGo to conduct their searches.
When using a VPN service, set your geographical location to a country like Mexico or India to find cheaper prices.
Real-Life Example: A flight from LA to Sydney dropped from 1,200 to 1,200 to 900 when I used a VPN set to Singapore.
BONUS: Combine Tactics for Maximum Savings
Example Itinerary:
Flexible Dates + Budget Airline Layover:
NYC → London (Tuesday flight on Norse Atlantic: $250).
London → Marrakech (Ryanair: $50).
Total: 300 vs. 300 vs. 600 direct.
Tool: Use Rome2Rio to mix flights, trains, and buses.
Conclusion
You can achieve affordable flight bookings through well-planned strategies that do not require luck. Your combination of travel flexibility, technological tools, and artistic thinking will reveal affordable flight options for more significant travel opportunities and reduced costs. Ready to test these tips? Applying the date grid feature from Google Flights will help users discover meaningful savings. Your successful findings should be shared in the comments section. Exploring Europe on a Budget Your 2024 Guide from India!

Hey, wanderlusters! 🌍✨
Dreaming of a European adventure but worried about the costs? Fret not! I've got some amazing tips to help you explore the charm and beauty of Europe without burning a hole in your pocket. Here’s how you can enjoy a budget-friendly Europe tour from India in 2024.
1. Plan Ahead 📅 Start planning your trip at least 6-8 months in advance. This way, you can take advantage of early bird discounts on flights, accommodations, and tours. Websites like Skyscanner and Google Flights can help you track and book the cheapest airfares.
2. Choose Budget Airlines ✈️ Europe is home to several budget airlines such as Ryanair, EasyJet, and Wizz Air. These airlines offer competitive prices for inter-country travel, allowing you to hop between European destinations without spending a fortune.
3. Travel Off-Peak 🍂 Visit Europe during the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October). Not only will you avoid the tourist crowds, but you'll also find lower prices on flights and accommodations. Plus, the weather is still pleasant!
4. Book Affordable Accommodation 🛏️ Opt for hostels, budget hotels, or Airbnb stays. Websites like Hostelworld and Booking.com offer great deals on budget-friendly accommodations. Consider staying in less touristy neighborhoods to save even more.
5. Use Public Transport 🚇 Instead of taxis, use public transportation. Europe has an extensive and efficient network of buses, trams, and metros. Get a local transport pass or card for unlimited travel within cities.
6. Eat Like a Local 🍕 Dine at local cafes, bakeries, and street food stalls rather than expensive restaurants. Trying local cuisines from markets or food trucks not only saves money but also offers an authentic experience.
7. Free Attractions & Walking Tours 🚶♀️ Many European cities offer free walking tours, which are a great way to explore and learn about the city. Don’t forget to visit free attractions like parks, museums (on free entry days), and historical sites.
8. Travel Passes and Discount Cards 🏞️ Invest in travel passes like the Eurail Pass or city-specific cards (like the Paris Pass or London Pass). These passes offer discounted or free entry to multiple attractions and unlimited public transport.
9. Pack Light 🎒 Avoid checked baggage fees by packing light. Stick to a carry-on backpack with essentials. This also makes it easier to move around, especially if you're hopping between cities.
10. Stay Connected 📱 Buy a local SIM card or an international roaming plan to stay connected. This helps you navigate using maps, book tickets online, and stay in touch with your family.
Sample Itinerary for a Budget-Friendly 10-Day Trip
Day 1-2: Fly into Prague, explore the Old Town and Charles Bridge.
Day 3-4: Take a budget flight or train to Budapest, visit Buda Castle and thermal baths.
Day 5-6: Head to Vienna, enjoy Schönbrunn Palace and local cafes.
Day 7-8: Travel to Salzburg, explore Mozart’s birthplace and Mirabell Gardens.
Day 9-10: End your trip in Munich, visit Marienplatz and enjoy a Bavarian beer garden.
Remember, the key to a budget-friendly Europe trip is flexibility and smart planning. So, start prepping and get ready to make unforgettable memories in 2024 without breaking the bank!
Happy Travels! 🌟✈️💼

18 Easy Ways to Save Money in Uni
Yes, it is possible to save money even on a student budget.
In fact, it can even be fun too! I personally am going through these ‘easy ways to save money’ and still having a blast. Read on to find out what those are…
1. Attend university for free
Yes, it’s possible. In fact I wrote an entire post about it: Yes, you can go to university for free.
Your options include: grants, bursaries and scholarships, the NHS, Armed Forces, sponsorships, apprenticeships, crowdfunding and traveling abroad.
Not paying for university surprisingly does save a lot of money.
Check out the post fam.
2. House hack
Rent is takes a big chunk of your income every month. Many students just accept their fate and believe it’s part of the deal – gotta pay for rent. But what if you got to keep that £400 that disappears every month?
House hacking is possible: live with your parents, live with a roommate, get a flat and Airbnb the hell out of it, do some property investing or just go live in a tent like this guy.
It requires hustle and research, but it’s doable.
3. Become a minimalist
As the word itself says, learn to live with less. The less money you spend on stuff, the more money you get to save. It’s a simple idea really, and practicing it is strangely refreshing. To quote The Minimalists:Imagine living with less so you could have more time, more passion, more experiences, more growth.
Not only will you save a ton of money, but you won’t be falling trap of the consumer society; always buying and buying and consuming more to fill the empty void inside you. Ask yourself: does buying x really add value to my life? If it doesn’t, why are you buying it, really? And if that answer scares you, it’s time for a change.
4. Cook your own food
You would think this is obvious but many people including students simply don’t cook their own food! Eating out several times a week is EXPENSIVE. Takeaway is EXPENSIVE. There’s no point. Plus cooking your own food makes you better at cooking and even makes the food more delicious (yes hello this is my ratatouille and it is delicious).
Keep the restaurants and takeaways for special occasions. The more you eat out the less you appreciate it that event of having someone else prepare and lay it out in front of you. Going to a restaurant is a huge event for me nowadays – and now I enjoy it ten times more.
5. Do a ton of discounting
There are a lot of discounts out there for students. A LOT. You just gotta find them. Here is a list of cool stuff you can get student discount on. Get all the railcards and student cards, you never know when they can come in handy.
Look around when you’re on the streets or out shopping. There might be a student sale or some sweet discount out there. And don’t be ashamed to ask the barman whether they do student discounts – we’re all trying to survive here.
6. Hack your loan: start investing
Maybe a little more advanced but a great way to save and hack your money. Following the 15% rule, use the loan money to invest. The minute you receive your loan money, send off a percentage to get invested. Not only will you be saving money, but the interest means you’ll be earning more money on the side! I’m telling you – this is loan hacking. Here’s a guide to getting started with investing.
7. Set a budget every time you go out
Yes, your friends might make fun of you and call you a loser but no worries – you’ll be the one graduating with money in your pockets.
But seriously, set a budget. Take only cash, if that works for you. Use an app, do your thing. Learn to control yo’self. Here’s a snazzy guide to budgeting.
8. Compare all your bills: gym, phone, software etc
Take all your ‘mandatory expenses’ and try to decrease them. Your phone bill, the gym, that software, maybe even gas and electricity. Try and find someone else who does it for cheaper. Spend an afternoon on it and then forget about it – you could save hundreds in the long run.
9. Work towards achieving that 15% rule
The golden 15% rule: actively saving 15% of your income (from loan, parents, etc) every month. Here’s an entire article on how to get started.
This 15% rule is what will get you ‘out the rat race’ and will literally change your life.
Check out the post fam.
10. Do some savings challenges: no spend day, cash challenge, etc
There are tons of random savings challenges out there: no spend day, cash challenge, 33 items challenge. Try some and see how it goes. Here are 6 Different Money Saving Challenges you can try out.
Once you try a few of them, you can pick one and keep going. Make up your own challenge: how much money I can save doing saving challenges. Maybe a little nerdy, but useful in the long run.
challenge: how tall can the coin tower get?
11. Use savings apps
Just like the savings challenges, these apps will encourage you to save ‘by accident’. They use tactics such as rounding up a purchase: you spend £2.50 on a coffee and the app rounds it up to £3.00 and saves you £0.50. Or it just randomly takes out some money at odd times of the day/week.
The best savings apps are: Chip (read a review here), Monzo and Folio. You can also try out some investing with MoneyBox.
12. Do NOT buy the next cool gadget
Still not a minimalist? That’s fine, but there’s still no point in consuming for the sake of consuming. If your phone is working perfectly fine and the next version comes out – how about not buying it? Remember, will it really add value to your life? Probably not, and if you think about it will probably remove value since your pockets will be a little lighter.
13. Buy stuff second hand
The UK is one of the few places which is really good at this: second hand stuff. There are charities littered all over the streets and you can find a few gems here and there. You find stuff online too with our good friends Gumtree and Craigslist. Think about it, do I really need this thing to be brand new? If not, go do some second-hand shopping. You’d be surprised with what you can find…
14. Make sure your employer doesn’t make you pay tax
If you earn under £11,500 a year, you don’t need to pay tax. If you do, you pay 20%. When working at a part time job, it’s unlikely you’ll be earning more than your allowance, however your employer is still likely to put you under the PAYE scheme. Normally, the HMRC will send you a tax refund called P800. But if you want to claim it now, you can do so using a P50 form. Some nice quick and easy money.
15. Flat parties instead of going out
Going out in the UK is expensive, especially if you live in the area of London (I don’t know how you people survive). How about doing a flat party/drinks instead? With my group of friends we regularly do poker nights, board game drinking nights and even some home-cooking and chilling.
There are tons of ways to have fun without going out. Yes, I sound like a boring old trout, but it’s totally true. And if you’re friends are only interested in having fun when their ££ is flying away, look for some different friends who’ll chill at home with you. Trust me, they’re the cool ones.
16. No book buying
Google Scholar and Google Books can be your saviour for both research and text books. All the stuff the uni makes you pay for – how about getting it for free? And if Google Scholar and Books don’t have what you’re looking for, ask someone else at uni if you can buy their book second hand. Or… jump onto Gumtree or Craigslist. Doing a bit of hustling and finding cheaper textbooks can go a long way.
17. Find free stuff and use it
Students are known to be good at getting free stuff. Save the Student has an awesome list of free stuffyou can take advantage of as a student.
Other places to get free stuff are: Fresher’s and societies fairs, student gigs, only using free trial (Spotify here I come), using the Gumtree ‘for free section, attending launch days (a supermarket, cinema, shop opening up), and cashback apps.
18. Learn to travel hack
Travel hacking is the ultimate key to traveling for cheap and making it enjoyable at the same time. It doesn’t mean trying to cut every single penny and starving yourself all day, it’s simply being clever with your money: cooking at the hostel instead of eating out, not buying useless souvenirs, doing your research before taking public transport, etc.
After 2 years of traveling on a tight budget, I believe I mastered it using apps such as Couchsurfing, Ryanair and GoEuro. For more info on how to travel hack, I wrote a snazzy guide on mastering the art of budget travel.
So – 18 ways to save money as a college student. Some are easier than others, but they’re all doable. And the result could be hundreds or even thousands of pounds saved up! What could you do with an extra £1,000 a year? You could invest it, build an emergency fund, save up for a nice trip, or even get started on your path to Financial Independence. The possibilities are infinite, and you get to choose what happens with them.

5 Tips by Travel Bloggers to Save on Ryanair cheap flight
Ryanair is famously known to be a low-cost carrier. It is an efficient airline which is always on time with its schedule. However, booking with a low-cost carrier does not mean you can not bag dirt-cheap offers if you know the hacks for saving money and avoiding sky-high airfares. Our blog is a guide you can follow for tips and tricks to help score a Ryanair cheap flight ticket. Read on to get the best advice given by industry experts.
Flex on flexibility
No other hack works as well as this one. Hence, it is the number one tip given by most travel bloggers. Assuming flexibility gives you a better deal to get Ryanair cheap flight tickets. When planning to travel cheap, the key is to keep your itinerary flexible enough that you do not fixate on specific dates and time limitations. For instance, flying on a Tuesday is significantly cheaper than flying on a Friday or the weekend.
Check your airports.
Ryanair offers flights to many secondary airports a few kilometres from the leading destination. For instance, Ryanair flies to Beauvais Airport (BVA) and Vatry Airport (XCR), both situated an hour or two away from the Paris metro area. You can get bus service to and from these airports. Booking your flight to these airports will get you a better deal on Ryanair cheap flight tickets. Make sure you double-check the airport that you will be flying from and to.
Purchase check-in bags in advance.
Although Ryanair allows you to carry one small item with the dimensions of 40x25x20 cm that should fit under the seat in front of you, it is often not enough. If you travel with more than one personal luggage, you should purchase extra baggage during booking. Paying earlier for the luggage makes a big difference because paying at the airport for the same luggage can cost 10x more. Call Ongoeazy for further assistance. You can pack and weigh your luggage so that you have an estimation of your luggage before adding extra while booking.
Choose Ryanair if you are travelling with family.
Thanks to its family seating policy, Ryanair automatically lets you have reserved seating for children under 12 years for free. It ensures that the kids sit next to their parents. At least one adult has to reserve a seat, and up to four children can be seated next to them for free. This way, you save up a lot of your hard-earned money, and you can spend time with your children while travelling.
Online Check-in
The important fact about Ryanair is that checking in on the web before the booking is crucial. Ryanair levies a 'gotcha' fee, an airport check-in fee that goes up to 48 pounds. Which means you must not go to the airport without checking in first. Those who purchase a seat while booking can check in on the web 60 days in advance. But for those who opt for a random seat assignment that costs no money, they can check in 24 hours before the departure time. In both cases, you must be checked in via the web at least two hours before the departure to ensure you don't pay any extra fees. As it is a budget airline, we recommend that you book a cheap Ryanair flight ticket with your priorities very clear. Ryanair is not a suitable airline if you are looking for extra comfort, perks, and luxury. However, if you want to save money and budget travel is your priority, then Ryanair is the perfect airline. With its vast route network of direct flights, Ryanair offers quick flights to your preferred destination. Call and book with Ongoeazy and get amazing offers on Ryanair cheap flight tickets.

Getaway on a Budget: How to Book Cheap Online Flight Tickets
Have you ever wished you could travel more? Maybe you’ve dreamed of visiting some of the world’s most popular landmarks, like the Taj Mahal or the Grand Canyon. Or maybe you just want to spend some quality time with your loved ones, taking a trip somewhere special to celebrate an anniversary or birthday. Whatever your reason, sometimes it can seem like you need more money than you have to make it happen. But booking cheap online flight tickets doesn’t have to break the bank!
The importance of planning your trip
Whether you're flying for business or pleasure, the cost of your airfare can make a big dent in your budget. Luckily, with a little planning and flexibility, you can snag some great deals on flights.
Here are a few tips to help you get started
1) Understand your options - There are many different types of airlines that offer travel at different price points. Sometimes it's worth paying more for a direct flight so that you can avoid layovers and connection times. Airlines like Bhartiya Airways also offer free snacks and TV screens at every seat, which makes it much easier to pass the time on an uneventful flight! Some airports also have lounges where you can relax before boarding your flight. You should always check the hours for these lounges beforehand so that you don't miss out if they close before your scheduled departure time.
2) Explore new destinations - The prices of flights are often based on where you're going and when. So if there is a place that is not too far from home but has cheaper tickets, think about booking there instead! And if you plan your trip around public holidays (like Christmas), then sometimes the rates go down because people are looking for places to spend their holiday vacation.
If you want to be notified when rates change on any given route, sign up for fare alerts. These will notify you via email whenever there is a significant change in fares - just be sure to set up alerts for both directions of travel.
The top travel search engines for cheap airline tickets
We all know that the internet is a vast, seemingly infinite place. And when it comes to booking travel, there are a ton of options out there. So how do you find the best deal on airfare? Check out these top travel search engines for cheap airline tickets Skyscanner and Hipmunk offer flight prices in U.S.
How to find the best airline deals
When it comes to finding the best airline deals, there are a few things you can do to ensure you're getting the most bang for your buck. First, sign up for newsletters and alerts from your favorite airlines. This way, you'll be among the first to know about sales and special offers.
Secondly, use a flight search engine like Skyscanner or Google Flights to compare prices and find the cheapest option. Another great thing to do is consider using an international travel agent like STA Travel if you don't want to deal with all of the hassle yourself. They have knowledgeable staff who can help plan out your entire trip. And lastly, get familiar with budget airlines like Ryanair or EasyJet by doing some research on them before booking anything.
Tools and apps for tracking prices
Booking cheap online flight tickets doesn't have to be difficult. There are a few tools and apps you can use to help you track prices and find the best deals. Skyscanner is an app that scans for nearby airports and alerts you when there's a price drop, so it's perfect for travelers who want to take advantage of bargains as they happen.
One great way to get good deals is by being flexible with your travel dates. With websites like Priceline, you're able to name your own price, but this means that you might not know which airport or airline will be used until after you've paid. If booking well in advance is important to you, then this might not be the route for you. However, if last-minute plans don't bother you then Priceline could save you money in the long run! The downside? It's hard to tell how much money will end up costing until after the purchase has been made.
Easy ways to get free hotel rooms
Did you know that there are actually quite a few ways to get free hotel rooms?
Here are a few of the best methods for getting free hotel rooms
1) Get in with credit card companies - If you have one of the major credit cards, such as Visa or Mastercard, and you book your room through them, then sometimes they will pay for your stay and give you points at the same time. Just make sure that if this is an option, it will cover all taxes and fees as well!
2) Stay in hostels - Hostels are great because they offer beds and social interaction at affordable prices.
3) Work at hostels - If you’re traveling through Europe or another part of the world where hostels are popular, then sometimes there are ways that you can work for your room. This might mean doing chores around your dormitory-style accommodations, but it could also be a paid position that gives you access to perks like free meals, tickets and more. You can find out more about these opportunities by looking online. For example, InterNations has a list of over 700 hostels across the globe with job listings right on their website so you can see what jobs are available before making plans to travel.
4) Use rewards credit cards - If you have a rewards credit card that gives points towards your next stay when you book your current one, then there’s nothing stopping you from taking advantage of that. Make sure that it covers all taxes and fees though because these are generally not covered.
Other cheap ways to spend your vacation
If you're looking for other ways to save on your vacation, consider traveling during the off-season, when rates are typically lower. You can also look for package deals that bundle together airfare, hotel, and car rental. Another way to save is to use points or miles from credit cards or loyalty programs to book your travel. And finally, be flexible with your dates and times of travel – you may be able to find cheaper flights by being flexible with your itinerary. Check out tools like Kayak and Skyscanner to get an idea of what's available in terms of pricing, timing, routing, etc. They'll also tell you how many seats are left so you know if it's worth booking. Once you've narrowed down your search, go ahead and make a reservation through the airline website (using a browser rather than the app). Be sure to give yourself plenty of time before your departure date to pay for your flight online so there aren't any surprises at check-in.

Trip 4, day 4. On Friday I left again for Poland. Nick was returning home for a well earned rest and I was asked to take the helm in Warsaw. Unfortunately the date I had to go was in the middle of the biggest train strike in Britain for 30 years and I needed to get to Birmingham by train for my flight. Although Friday was not an official strike day it was in between two strike days and this meant a high chance of trains being cancelled - with 2 connections to make it was not easy to stay calm.
I ended up leaving for Birmingham much earlier than I needed to, not only to buy me more time but it turned out it was the birthday of a refugee who is staying in Birmingham, so I made a plan to take them to lunch. Thankfully the first train of the day was not cancelled, it was very busy though and some people were completely ignorant to the fact there was a strike on. I got a seat and was not delayed enough to miss my connection, so all was well. The connecting train wasn’t cancelled either and in fact contradictory to the timetable it was a direct train to Birmingham. So the plan worked out at I took Julia and her son for sushi, this was the fist time I’d been in Birmingham city centre so was just as out of place as Julia. The sushi was fantastic and we has enough time to squeeze in a quick game of crazy golf. This seems to the new fad in cities, creatively done crazy golf - that and lots of “escape rooms”.
The plane was actually more delayed than the trains and I got into Warsaw quite late. With only 4% of my battery left I had to get an Uber to the hostel without it conking out. It’s a good job I know my way around Warsaw because I noticed a few minutes after leaving the airport we were going the wrong way. I had assumed with word “ogrod” was particular to my destination, in fact this just means “garden” in Polish so I was well off. Thankfully there was just enough power left on my phone to re-route and I arrived about 12:30am. You learn something new every day.
Whilst waiting at the airport I was asked to drive a family to Modilin airport the next day at 9am. As Modilin airport is 1 hour drive away it would be straight to business so I hoped for a good night’s sleep.
The rest was achieved and off we went to the airport, neither mother or daughter had flown before so the airport guide came in useful. When we got to checkin it was not good news. The family had been sent to us by another organisation and they had also booked the flights, unfortunately they hadn’t checked them in online and Ryanair refused to checkin at the airport. With the mother speaking no English and the daughter only having the very basics it was pretty difficult to figure out who had booked their flights, but eventually we got there and I managed to speak to the person directly. Apparently the problem was old Ukrainian passports don’t have an expiry date so they were unable to check them in, obviously they didn’t realise how strict Ryaniar would be about checking in online and didn’t let us know. I suggested using the expiry date of the visa instead and with no other options they did this and it was accepted.
I hung around the airport to make sure they got on the flight, which they did, although there were few panicked messages and phone calls along the way, but nothing major. A electric car grand prix event over the road from the airport kept me busy while I waited, some kind of promotional event but it was free so I took in some laps.

With them safely away I headed into Warsaw to pick up some lunch and to try and print off the new information poster I have designed for our desk at the humanitarian centre. Lunch was very nice, I found a place that did crispy shrimp bao buns, one of the nicest sandwiches I’ve ever had. Bao buns are asian steamed buns with no crust, the contrast of the crispy batter on the shrimps with the soft buns and salad was perfect. Because it was a Saturday all the print shops were closed so that would have to wait. I picked up the 3 volunteers from the humanitarian centre and a Ukrainian who will be staying with us until this afternoon.
With quite a lot of people leaving last week there are not too many Ukrainians staying at Heavenly Hostel and the ones here are fairly old, so our usual Sunday job of taking out families for something recreational was put on hold. Instead the volunteers went down to the visit the old town of Warsaw which is very picturesque and full of impressive architecture. Just as we were about to head home I got a message asking me to pick up 2 new volunteers up at Modilin airport that night, at 12:10am. They had to change their travel plans last minute so Sunday was going to turn into a work day. It has been very hot the past few days, over 30 degrees so I was feeling a bit tired. I took a rest and decided to eat late to wake me up, I made dinner about 10:30pm and this seemed to do the trick. One bonus was that the roads were empty so the drive was a lot easier than usual. The airport though was very busy, much busier than Saturday morning. I suppose it was everyone getting home from their weekend away somewhere.
I had actually met Joy back in March on my first job for Love Bristol but hadn’t sen her since then so it was good to catch up. They will be here for a month and taking over the lead once they have settled in.
This morning I managed to wake up in time to take Abi a volunteer to the airport, just after dropping her off Joy rang me and said she felt unwell and had been in contact with someone who had tested positive for covid. Having woken up with a runny nose this got me worried. I went to a nearby medical centre and bought a couple of tests and some vitamin D. Thankfully Joy’s test was fine so crisis over.
The afternoon and evening was spent in one of the humanitarian centres, I managed first of all to get the posters printed at a professional printers just round the corner. They looked really good and I was pleased with the quality of the print and the design. I would though later regret getting 8 copies printed when it became apparent I had forgotten that the massive QR code was just a place holder image I had used when designing the poster and it was wrongly linking to Investopedia. I’ll have to use our office laser printer and stick on the correct QR codes - that or just get them reprinted.

With the other volunteers working on new signups I found time to try and expedite Julia’s parent’s application. Her mother has received an e-mail saying her application has been accepted but not the notification to pick up the visa. Sadly she needed urgent dental care this morning and had to have multiple teeth removed and stitches put in. More work needs doing and she can only eat cold, soft food. Her husband has high blood pressure and is without his prescription medication, the anxiety is taking its toll on him. With their local city being Severodonetsk and their house being bombed its easy to understand why. Thankfully their case has been put forward for escalation so I hope it will be accepted and they are moving fairly soon.
Soon after this I met a pension aged couple who had been staying in the humanitarian centre for 2.5 months. There was an unknown issue with their host, who they happen to know so were keen to wait for. I advised them that issues with hosts are very difficult to turnaround and they would be better off finding another sponsor. We setup a Zoom call with a potential match that went vey well so hopefully it wont be long left for them now. Other volunteers have being asking them for weeks to stay at Heavenly Hostel but they are unsure about how secure our setup is. I tried my best to reassure the wife and she seemed less frosty to the idea but says her husband would have to be consulted, hopefully he sees sense and they get out of that place, which is clearly doing them in.
Whilst all this was going on we had a group of four deaf Ukrainians approach us, they seem to be on their own with no one with them that could hear. I don’t know how this has happened but they wanted to move to the UK, and only if they could get a job. This isn’t something we can do for them but I promised to try and seek help for them through a UK charity for deaf people, hopefully who will have a network of suitable employers and the ability to find them hosts. It was quite humbling and scary to see them in such a difficult situation, they were clearly capable and friendly people who shouldn’t be having to deal with this level of extra hardship but were coping and getting on with things.
No one should have this level of extra hardship to deal with of course, just after our farewells I checked the news and saw Russia had bombed a shopping centre full of over 1000 people, most likely women and children making up the majority of injured and dead. These direct attacks on everyday folk are a sadsitic menace that needs risks to be taken to stop. Sending weapons to Ukraine alone isn’t enough, Russia must in my opinion be taught the same kind of lesson Germany was, the west needs to push the envelope further and take more action.

International Or Bilingual Main Schools Institution And also Specialised Establishments Education and learning
The theorist Air Conditioning Grayling has generated a nonreligious holy book, but its assistance for a good lifestyle fails to entice Genevieve Fox. Volunteers are promoted to carry their personal sand mats, sunlight screen, hats and toys for kids. Actually, Home Page believed he had the ability to book a totally free air travel as a result of a pest on Ryanair's online reservation body. Guide presents readers to many strangers and gives us idea into their lifestyles. As a retired Chief Executive Officer and now college professor, I can certainly not differ more firmly along with the area of the book as well as the methods marketed within. When the book is actually shut and also you consider that, all you observe is oldness and also, depending upon your edition, a cheese photo of a creature ofthe night drinking a female's blood stream. A little woman died violently in this book as well as I was fully unfazed by it. That is actually an unpleasant breakdown. While this book may aid to support a young reciter's understanding and empathy for animals, the subject doesn't constantly seem suitable for its own intended target market. Microsoft asserts that the base Area Publication gets 12 hrs of battery life while participating in video, while the heavier-duty battery in the Functionality Base design acquires 16 hrs. The only true exclusive results are actually when the white food items pellets fade in and out, yet there's something about the look of the game that does not actually demand any sort of special results. 3 years ago I recommended that Apple's wellness push-- at that point rumored to be contacted Healthbook-- can be the first genuine item from Tim Cook's Apple That's because, by all accounts, health and wellness appear to be as a lot an interest for Chef as songs was for Jobs. Nuala Ellwood's tough debut thriller, My Sister's Bone tissues rivals The Girl on a Learn as an obsessive read (and also hammers it for type). I performed locate the cashew cream a little also garlicky (as well as I like garlic) thus next opportunity I will exclude the grain. And there you have it. Verification that Snacktaku takes pictures of well-balanced snack foods, along with evidence advising we eat them at the same time. I'm certainly not claiming Google should not open up a Play Songs API - there is definitely one thing because there are actually off the record apps that make use of an undocumented API - but why perform you believe that will be OK to closed up an online video streaming API also - besides - YouTube has one, why should not Participate in Movies - specifically considering this makes use of YouTube on the backend in any case. This manual is perhaps excellent if you are into this sort of stuff yet religious passion regarding compensative passion for anti-romantic, negative atheist like me was only abuse. Howevered, there are actually loads of distinctions between The Magicians guide series and The Magicians the TELEVISION collection, which officially premieres on Monday at 9 p.m. ET-- some slight, some primary, and also some entirely head-scratching. Psychologically manipulative books that feel as if the writer laid out with a plan to move my soul cords - that would be up there with the most awful. An excellent guideline is to use the Health app for a fast guide from your health and fitness activity, and make use of the Task application to view just how you are actually performing throughout the day. However along with Series 2, Apple is dedicating to exactly what I consider its greatest function: your health and wellness. Unlike theCommon Understanding" executed through skin specialists (which propose you avoid the sunlight), the Primitive Master plan will firmly insist that you get some straight sunshine each day. Zusak, perhaps appropriately, thinks that we 'd never have the capacity to really understand as well as enjoy reading through a publication concerning personalities definitely bad. Whether you have food allergic reactions, are actually enjoying your weight or simply intend to recognize exactly what you are actually enjoying, dining in a restaurant at restaurants regularly offers a fascinating obstacle. Rating food in the app is actually practically easy, however that might stump some people thus far as just what the score need to be actually. No assessment I can ever carry out, will give this publication the justice that is thus deserving from! Whether you 'd like to make a reservation for a scenic tour exploring New Delhi, Jaipur as well as Agra, roam the handsome worlds from Rajasthan or even explore the balmy south in Kerala and also Tamil Nadu, our experts make certain to possess a trip to match you. Elemeno Wellness creates that details simply accessible at the aspect of care as well as adds gamification to promote involvement as well as knowing. I check out just recently in a manual about imagination just how Dracula 'blasphemes' against Christianity. Systems underfunded and understaffed without training that were actually largely paid attention to imprisonment as opposed to the demands from anybody with a health and wellness disorder described by mental illness. I indicate, I read a publication about children with cancer, I wasn't intended to become laughing however I performed. Along with the recurring boom in podcasting, there have been actually no scarcity of terrific new programs about publications.. Traveling on a Budget
Everyone loves to travel. However, no one really likes having to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for their trip, especially when you are a broke (or almost broke) college student who has to prioritize tuition, rent, food, and other necessary bills. Having planned multiple trips in the past I have been able to find some great resources for traveling and how to save a considerable amount of money. Below you will find some of my favorite resources and tips to plan the best vacation and save money doing it!
HostelWorld
Planning my Europe trip on a budget was a bit of a struggle at first; it took about a month of planning to really get everything set in stone. The goal of the trip was to save as much money as possible so that I did not rack up too much of a bill while traveling. My friend and I began by looking at hotels but quickly realized that hotels would be too expensive for us to afford. We then started looking into hostels. I was slightly nervous about this since I did not know what to expect of the hostels and had no real idea of how safe they would be. After doing some research I found that my favorite website to look for hostels is HostelWorld. The website is super easy to use and you can filter results by price, rating, type of hostel, type of room, and even how they accept payment. The site ranks each hostel by how friendly the staff is, how clean the rooms are, location to amenities, reviews, and other good information.
A cool feature of HostelWorld is that you can compare different hostels to one another to see which one would suit you better. It also shows you where each hostel is located on a map so you can see which attractions you would like to visit and can then choose the hostel closest to it. You can earn points by signing up through the website and booking reservations online, which is a great way to save money. There is a large range of prices to select for the hostels. Some charge just $10/night, and some can get all the way to $150/night. I would highly recommend checking out HostelWorld for either your next national or international trip! The best part is that it offers free cancellation!

Ryanair & Other Budget Airlines
Most people know how inexpensive it is to travel in Europe from country to country. Ryanair is the most well known European budget airline. I had heard stories of how the plane was dirty and crowded, which is what I expected for such a cheap airline. However, I was surprised when the plane was actually clean and while the seats were close together, I did not feel like it was severely uncomfortable. The flight attendants were very nice and I could see they were making an effort to communicate with people who did not speak English, which was a nice gesture. I would definitely recommend using Ryanair for flights around Europe. All my flights were on time and I was able to purchase tickets for around $30-$50, but you can oftentimes find tickets for as low as $20. The only downside is that you are only allowed one small bag and a small carry-on, unless you pay a fee for a checked bag. Your small bag has to be able to fit in the overhead compartment or under your seat. Also, make sure to check the weight of your bag. Budget airlines usually allow bags to be around 20 pounds; otherwise they will make you check it in.
* A good way to pack your bag and save space is by using packing cubes for your suitcase. You can find them at Walmart, Target, or check out this set on Amazon.
Besides Ryanair, I also used Vueling when flying to Madrid and Ibiza. It was very similar to Ryanair in terms of quality of the flight and plane itself. It was on time and the flight attendants were nice. It also has the same small bag rule as Ryanair, which is to be expected for budget airlines. The only thing about Vueling is that the flight attendants rarely spoke English for instructions and confirmation emails were sent to me in Spanish. For me this was not that big of a problem since I am able to speak enough Spanish to get by, but for others like my friend you can be left totally in the dark. So if you use Vueling just be prepared to know at least some basic Spanish so you can get around.

Travel to Cheaper Cities
Everyone knows that there are “cheaper” cities to travel to in Europe compared to the larger, more touristy destinations. I did not realize how true this actually was until I began to plan my trip to Europe. To give an example, an average price for a nice hostel in Paris is about $40 a night for a dorm bedroom. An average price for a similar hostel in Marseille, which is where I stayed, is about $25 a night. This really adds up, especially if you are staying for an extended period of time. When I was studying abroad in Galway, Ireland, the meals and drinks were reasonably priced, about 12-15 Euros for a meal ($14-$17) and about 3 Euros for a drink ($3.50). While studying abroad I took a weekend trip to Dublin. There was a huge difference in prices between the two cities. A meal in Dublin was around 18-20 Euros ($21-$23) and a drink was about 5 Euros ($6). At the time, I did not realize how much I would end up spending in just three days but after my trip I saw how much my budget had suffered due to the increased prices of Dublin. On top of that, my hostel was about $100 for just two nights. Definitely take the time to research different cities in the country you are looking to travel to!
Instead of Barcelona, travel to Madrid. While this is still a big tourist city, the prices were still reasonable, and the city really does not have a tourist/vacation vibe to it.
Instead of Paris, travel to Marseille. This southern city in France is located right on the Mediterranean Sea and is home to the famous Marseille St. Charles Train Station.
Instead of Rome, travel to Genoa. I absolutely loved this Italian city. It is located on the Gulf of Genoa, which has amazing beaches. This is also one of the cheapest cities I traveled to.

Genoa, Italy has amazing views
RailEurope
One thing that I wish I had time for on my last trip is taking the train around Europe. Just like in my last blog post about taking the Amtrak around the US to save money and see amazing sights along the way, the EuroRail is perfect for those looking to save money. You can buy either a single country pass from around $60-$200, or a multi-country pass from around $150-$350 depending on how many countries you are going to and which specific countries they are. I spent a lot of time looking into these passes but ultimately decided that flying was my best option due to time constraints. I did take the train from France to Italy and had a great time doing it. It was fun being able to see other large cities as we passed through them. The trains are high-speed and do not make too many frequent stops. The trains are well kept and the seats are comfortable enough to sleep on. It took about 6 hours to travel 244 miles, which was a long time but watching the different scenery helped pass the time. In addition, most of the trains offer free WiFi.
Another company I looked into for rail passes was EuroStar. EuroStar only has trains between the UK, France, and Belgium, but it is still a great train service to look into. Ticket prices range from about 35 Euros ($41) to 150 Euros ($176). I have heard many good reviews about EuroStar from friends and family. They said the trains were always on time, fast, and were clean. Taking a train across Europe is a great way to save money and get some sight-seeing in!

Just entering Italy on the train from France
I absolutely loved my trip to Europe and am excited to be able to go again sometime in the future. While it was still an expensive trip, I was able to save a lot of money by just using some simple resources and guides. In addition, if you budget ahead and find ways to save money you can extend your trip or start saving for your next one! Either way by using these resources, you are guaranteed to save money and still have a fantastic trip. Happy traveling!
