In RWBY weapons are a part of a person, an extension of yourself, as Ruby puts it in V1. So, a weapon can say a lot about a person in how it appears and what it's used for.
Looking at Crescent Rose compared to our other main characters' weapons and it's immediately one that stands out from the size alone, it immediately draws our attention, it usually takes up the screen.
Like Ruby, it's striking, awe inspiring and larger than life. It's beautiful, resilient and strong, but evolves to be more adaptable during the Atlas Arc, when Ruby herself has to be more flexible and think outside the box, and her worldview is consistently challenged. It's also very easily the most intricate and complicated design, by her own admission:
"I guess I did go a little overboard in designing it..."
Which, while on the surface means it looks cool and flashy, it's also incredibly complex, just like Ruby.
And as we know from V9, a weapon like that would also be a heavy one to carry at all times too, and it weighs on her. Just like being "Ruby Rose" means to shoulder all the responsibilities and entanglements that come with being who she is, a huntress, a leader, a hero, a spark of hope and light who inspires others. In the end her resolve as a huntress and in who she is, and her purpose, is renewed and stronger than ever before, and wields her weapon once more with confidence.
That doesn't mean her burdens have gotten any lighter though, in fact upon returning to Vacuo, because of her message, all of humanity is now looking to her. No matter how strong, confident and resolved she is, that's a heavy weight for one person to carry alone.
Which brings me to Oscar's weapon, the Long Memory. Which is a cane, smaller, simple and straightforward, but has it's own hidden light stored inside. A cane is meant to take someone's weight by design, that's it's purpose. To be something that's leant on as a crutch when you're hurting to alleviate the pain by taking the pressure off yourself, so moving forward is made easier. Because everyone needs that support sometimes and it's okay to be weak, it doesn't make you lesser, it just makes you human. And it is incredibly human for us to care for and lean on one another for support. That vulnerability leads to our greatest strength as humans.
The one who carries the heaviest weapon vs The one who has a weapon that can be leant on to take pressure off yourself. Ruby who carries a heavy burden and Oscar being someone that can be leant on for support. ooooooohhhh the cymbal ism of it all.
#and if they swapped weapons at some point?#oscar carrying ruby's burdens in being leader and ruby letting herself be supported??#one becoming more active and the other more introspective???#ooooohhhhh. it'd be all over for you bitches.#another fun thing they could is if Crescent Rose breaks from Ruby pushing too hard#and her team help her piece back her weapon together for her#as a reference to Gift of the Moon and trying to help Ruby the way she has for them#that'd be so sweet#anyway I love the weapon symbolism in rwby hehehehe#also I love rosegarden#I feel like there's more weapon symbolism I could dig into with the Long Memory for Oscar but honestly#I mainly wanted an excuse to gush about Crescent Rose a bit#rwby#ruby rose#oscar pine#rosegarden#greenlight volume 10#rwby meta

You say you’ll allow some “light” nsfw stuff, just some fluff stuff. That’s how it starts. That’s how it always starts. Couple years later you’ll be so far down in the smut hole you can’t even see the light anymore. Even more years later it’ll be so dark you’ll realize you’re not gazing into the abyss anymore, you are the abyss staring back up at someone.
Smut jokes aside, welcome back. It’s been a while. I’ve gone insane, that’s what happened to me. Hope you’ve been well.
I'm baaaaack
And I'm changing shit up a bit
1. This and my other blog of @romantorchwick-isms is going to be allowing some light NSFW stuff (AKA ecchi, fluffy stuff, and some dramatic stuff you'd see in a PG-13 to light R rated movies).
2. Some new stories will be out soon, hopefully in a month or so. What they'll be about, only tome will tell, I make this shit up as I go.
3. Let me onow how everyone is! I've heard from some of y'all but I wanna know how everyone's doing. So hit me up lets try and catch up. I mean I got work amd shit so I might not answer roght away but still. Hope you all are okay.
TL;DR

I will admit I'm not able to spot able-ism in a lot of things but damn, when this was pointed out. I was like WTF?!!!
BNHA's ableism, makes sense for the world it's set in. Everyone is low-key ableist (quirkless discrimination to the point that no one ever thought of using the support businesses to make ironman/kamen rider suits for quirkless hero hopefuls)
However, RWBY? Freaking RWBY?
Most of their villains are/were disabled people, but let's set aside Salem's faction, I will talk about Ironwood.
Roosterteeth claimed that Ironwood losing his arm, was him losing his humanity, hence we got the Ironwood that died in RWBY.
Like tell me you're all ableist without telling me you're ableist.
oh yeah, sidenote these are the disabled villains
Cinder - discarding her hand to replace with Grimm parts
Neo - Mute
Mercury - no legs
Hazel - self mutilation
Tyrian - mentally unstable + loses his tail
Adam - nonfunctioning eye + slave brand
Ironwood - losing limbs

Me: Seeing Evermorrow and Dust Queen that look interesting -excited hopping in my seat-
Also me: Seeing that in the first the shitlord Syto is listed as a "casting aid" and that the obnoxious know-thing CRWBY bashing piece of shit that is Celtic is voicing Roman in both -nearly breaking my neck from shaking my damn head so hard-
In what fucking world do either of these shitlords that have shown everything except being fans of the show have any ground to be involved in any fan projects? Like these aren't even "questionable", they are straight up shitbags that have gone after CRWBY themselves.
Lets go over it:
They bash the show
They bash CRWBY
They fail at having a grasp on the damn show, characters, and relationship within as they fail repeatedly at understanding things in it and stating blatantly wrong or biased bullshit about it.
They have shown themselves as sexist & homophobic
They have shown themselves as disgusting assholes with bloated ego's that aren't deserved at all
Celtic doesn't even fit as a voice for Roman
Celtic who has obnoxiously and ridiculously stated how he's a better writer than the actual RWBY writers. I can't remember if he actually name dropped them, but honestly it wouldn't be shocking if he did. The guy that thought up "faunus heat cycles"; Velvet x Cardin; Cardin having an "actually a good guy deep down" angle; asspulled Roman back to life & linked him to fucking Oz as if that works in any damn way; did a sauna scene to have fanservice; had Blake essentially become a cop; Ilia getting harsher judgement; decided Shay D. Mann deserved an entire character arc (biggest insult is that creepass having a romantic relationship with Raven who is sooooooooooo damn beyond his level its unreal); repeatedly shoves the femme MC's behind males; etc thinks his ass is a better writer.
As aside: -pulls camera to full face cam- Celtic if you run across this, you aren't at all. You're not even close, you're just another incel chud peddling in right-wing-isms that lead to disgusting ass elements in your bullshit.
Celtic has a history of problematic elements within his "Ruining RWBY" bullshit
Syto tried to poison the well going into v9 via realizing what everyone else did in that Bees were coming and him trying to paint the pander angle that ignores the 10 years, 9 volumes of work put into BB leading up to said vibes people had about their becoming official.
Syto who tried to do Cherish his AU spinoff and failed; tried to do his own project w/o anything to do with RWBY and failed; and scurried back to another RWBY AU project
Syto who basically dived into the idea of Yang being an airhead party girl throwing out her entire true self. Not to mention his redesign sexualizing her in the exact aspects one would expect from an incel shitbag. Barely anything there waist, barely anything there top, massive cleavage.
Like these shitbags should be nowhere near fan projects. Don't give them normalization as if they aren't what they are.

So I've been watching Ice Queendom and I'm actually liking it. It's... good. Like, really freaking good??
The imagery of Weiss' dream is incredible, from the overpowering, constant figure of Jacques in every corner of the kingdom to Willow's ghost of a presence, a drunk shadow in the corner of Weiss' eye. There's Klein's ever-comforting helpfulness. Whitley presented as a blood-sucking creature with dubious intentions. And Winter as the righteous book of law. I love it.
Just like with the main RWBY series, I can't believe I was bamboozled once again by the popular opinion that it was trash, lmao. If I had anything I'd change about it it'd be that I kinda wish they'd gone even crazier with the Shaft-isms. More Madoka or Monogatari in presentation. If you've seen those other Shaft shows, you can kinda feel the lack of Shinbo as a director. :')
#it makes me so sad cuz even the non-scathingly negative posts I've seen about it are mostly the same 2 bees & outfits screenshots lol#and I mean I get it they're adorable and the outfits are cute but come on guyss there's so many other interesting things going on in IQ :')#rwby#Ice Queendom#kazzTXT

My mind keeps wandering back and forth between RT insisting "there's no discrimination in Remnant beyond faunus stuff" and like, fuckton of in-universe "jokes" that range between merely aggressively cis to outright transphobic.
Like even the most obvious ones like the reactions when Jaune comes to the dance in V2? Or whole Qrow skirt "joke"? Yeah right, inclusive world that is totally not heteronormative and totally without discrimination or discriminatory biases.
Also, Jacques and Cardin specifically existing already implies sexism, classism and toxic masculinity and all the other ugly things that come from gender stereotypes. You can't just have characters being "-ist" and then claim that the "-ism" just doesn't exist in this world. The specific character behavior patterns, beliefs, personality traits are learned through concepts that are intrinsically tied together with each other as something that exists within the social whole. Cardin even seeing Jaune as a target comes from somewhere. And even if we assume classism(And thus discrimination LOL) exists, while that explains Jacques motivations, his abusive behavior is not simply rooted in classism either, as he's literal walking toxic masculinity trope. So if we take RT at their word what could POSSIBLY make that make sense? What? did Salem somehow possess them to hurt team RWBY or something?
"There's no -ism in Remnant" reads more and more like "We don't want to have actual representation in our show nor have actual genuine stances on various topics at all, because we don't want to alienate all the bigots"

How do you live this life of being a eternal victim?
A slur? Lmao!!! That’s a very loaded word that shows your own blatant privilege for everyone to see, If you think anything in my mild chastisement of you watching a racist/ableist/homophobic show can constitute a slur.
You have no right to call anyone any sort of ic or ism when you’re supporting a homophobic/racist/ableist team like Rooster Teeth. It rings hollow and everyone can see that.
And with all your accusations, you still haven’t said a single word in Rooster Teeth’s defense. Instead trying to disparage my character as a distraction. So even you know you can’t defend that monstrous company. Lol. Lmao Even.
Real people always take priority over fictional. How embarrassing for you if you think other wise.
When RWBY dies and your whole reason for the existing goes away I won’t pity you. Because no other fandom will allow the nonsense this one brings.
You’ll end up a Sarah Z video as a foot note of internet drama.

My Non-Canonical Fox
The first ever blog I made on this site was an RP blog for Fox Alistair. I thought he looked cool and aloof, and it would be fun to RP in that space. This was back when there was a whole RWBY-isms RP community on Tumblr and 90% of the lore of Remnant and RWBY didn’t exist. As such, my Fox that I developed was a far cry from the Fox that exists in “canon” today.
And since he’s a more permanent member of my roster once more, let’s talk about my Fox:
Fox is blind. He was, in fact, born blind, and so has very heightened senses just naturally.
He is also a Faunus, so those heightened senses are ridiculous. He has to sleep with earplugs because he can hear everything in the rooms around him at night.
Specifically, he’s a shark faunus, with rows of razor teeth his attribute. He’s also from Vacuo, making him a sand shark faunus.
His weapons are specifically designed after shark fins because of this—he calls them Riptide.
To help him navigate the world, he developed a Semblance that has the passive trait of radar/seismic-sense/echolocation.
His Semblance’s active trait is sound waves so intense they can turn stone to dust and air into concussive blasts.
If his emotions are heightened enough, the feedback from his Semblance can actually give him clear vision, though in black and white.

I decided to watch V9's finale today, despite my anxieties about it. I do not regret that decision. There wasn't a single aspect of this episode that I didn't like, and it answered a bunch of questions I had about not just the volume, but the series as a whole. Also, a certain someone appears in the intro, and I think you'll be happy to see them. I'm definitely swearing off both reddits and RWBYtubers for a month or two, though. In addition to the minefield that the finale and the movie will create, my younger brother's 25th birthday is next Sunday, and I was tasked with baking his dessert and one of the side dishes.
@dualcoindeity @avalonblue12
I'm answering all three of you at once.
So general thoughts on the RWBY Finale.
From what I can observe, the connection between the vision of Summer and Ruby's reawakening resolve wasn't the strongest. I think it would have benefited from the Blacksmith having a line about it.
The exposition the Blacksmith gave might have gone on a bit long for some people. I think maybe condensing it a little would help the flow.
And Jaune's change back was a bit sudden and quick. Maybe give Alyx a line apologizing.
Other that- I think it's the strongest RWBY finale.
I mean, Volumes 1 and especially 2 didn't have greatest finals anyway. Volume 4 was heartfelt and a great way of communicating the tone and theme of the Volume. 5 suffers from 5-ism with rushed animation but a great dressing down of Raven by Yang. 6 was damn good with the Leviathan and the set up for Atlas. 7 was basically a bridge to 8, which while shocking and integral...was basically just the natural conclusion.
9's end was the best so far with the best fight scene of the best few Volumes, a great addressing of Ruby's character, wonderful lighting and shadows in the Summer scene, a heartfelt hug that concluded Ruby's suffering, fantastic karma towards the cat, a hopeful cliffhanger for Neo and a sorrowful retirement of the Torchwock character and a final shot that perfectly sums up the triumphant tome of the finale.
Even the parts I brought I didn't personally dislike. I loved WOR so the exposition didn't bother me, The Blacksmith not directly addressing it fits her character more and really- Jaune didn't really grow up in the Ever After. He regressed and now he's back on track.
Hell, I fond it better than 3's finale in everyday. Which says a lot because 3's is the best. In a vacuum given Volume 3 has not aged well. While this finale is a perfect cap on the best Volume.
I'll talk more about it later l. Preferably NOT on mobile because making informed posts on mobile socks. But those are my basic thoughts.
Love to hear your guys'.

buddy i see you're into rwby too and v9 being out, i went back to watch the end of v8 and came to the realization that winter schnee and our dearest sister lilith are adjacent genres of blorbo for me. massive traumatized eldest child vibes with brief villain arcs (i am a lilith redemption truther) following dodgy authority figure/cult leader. and finally, i truly believe that what they both need is a wholesome gal to put 'em on their knees for a while 😂
—👞
and you're SO RIGHT they're similarly blorbo-coded. the sense of duty. the eldest sibling-isms of it all. the way they're manipulated. the way they're both severely injured but still go fight the big bad because If Not Them, Then Who.
Also yeah. one of my bigger ships is still winter/robyn so like. yeah. "local mentally ill blorbo gets put on their knees by communist dork" describes a good amount of my ships tbh 😭😭
#also hello is that a shoe#is this like a new anon friend OR is this a reference to that little old lady who lived in the shoe in rwby#that was that one atlesian general lady right with the big mech#she was basically the little old lady who lived in the shoe

Isn't it hypocritical to reblog catradora while complaining about RWBY fetishizing Blake being a catgirl
Here's the thing.
Furries, scorpion girls, catgirls, etc simply exist within She-ra setting.
As far as narrative itself goes, none of those elements are part of a centuries old oppressed minority group that serves as a weird fantasy stand-in for real life minorities and has literal organizations fighting for their rights.
Their animal traits aren't written as a source of world-wide oppression and discrimination. Because the show doesn't need to create "new fantasy oppression" - it acknowledges concepts like religious fanaticism, fascism, oppression and authoritarianism existing and being the same as you'd have in the real world.
As far as Catra is concerned, having animal traits is just a thing that exists in this setting. There's no hidden additional meaning behind Catra having cat-like traits or moments with Adora calling back to them. And also honestly the show is not even really littered with them beyond a few well timed ones.
If RWBY WANTS so desperately to write cute cat gf jokes, then maaaaaaaybe just maaaaaybe they shouldn't have made it be literally racist in-setting???? And not just that but according to miles and co, the only type of discrimination/oppression that exists on Remnant???
Also, let's be frank - There's thousands of ways to write Blake and Yang together that don't make the writers step on a rake they themselves placed on the ground. So why do they still do it? Because its a popular trope so they said "let's do the anime thing too!" (and after She-ra there's also the layer of Catradora still having a huge following which they hope to lure into watching their show).
A little bit from Korra, a little bit from She-ra and so on. MilesWBY is a mish-mash of barely veiled copy-paste of ideas or moments. Implemented without the thought on whether it actually works in the setting or whether it leads to very unfortunate situations filled with sexism, racism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia and etc.
"Oops we accidentally did one of the bad -isms again" should be show's slogan at this point.

Tyrian: Yes.
Watts: Good. Now then, let us- *Hears rustling from Tyrian’s jacket* What is that?
Tyrian: What is what?

Watts: Leave. Now.
Tyrian: Fine, but William is staying with you while I go do my thing.
