Can we take a moment to appreciate just how well fed we are? Both in canon and beyond?

Oscar said "woah" the moment he first met Ruby.

"Woah. You have... silver eyes". Specifically.

The scene of them sparring at sunset and being goofy about it.

They're the two youngest members of the team, and both of their main allusions are stories about growing up (The Little Prince and Little Red Riding Hood).

Oscar's main allusion is of a character that's in love with a rose. Ruby's last name is Rose, she has a rose emblem, and can turn into rose petals.

They also have shared/parallel allusions from in-universe fairytales (Ex. The Boy Who Fell From The Sky, The Girl Who Fell Through the World, and most notably, The Warrior in the Woods).

The Dojo Scene

Their shared attachments to each other keep being put in focus.

Oscar cared more about Ruby being knocked out than Weiss being impaled at Haven.

Ruby's always watching his back in fights, and he always has hers in group conflict discussions.

Neo, the illusionist character, uses Oscar as both the first and last illusion to torture Ruby; going so far as to make Ruby "kill" him with her own hands. It could have been anyone, but it WASN'T. It was OSCAR.

Meanwhile, Oscar in the V9 epilogue laments to Ruby's "grave" about how he is struggling to hold onto who he is more than ever before. In large part because of the merge, but also because Ruby "always saw people for who they really were", and she's not around anymore to help remind him of who he is.

"You're your own person."

The Almost Hug.

The song that plays leading up to The Almost Hug is one about someone pining for a love they've lost and been separated from across worlds. The song airs a few episodes before Oscar and Ruby are the only "pairing" split up between Remnant and The Ever After. The song itself is called Treasure and Ruby is a type of precious gem, while Oscar's name alludes to gold.

Oscar's last name is Pine. Which, aside from the species of tree, is defined as: "to long or yearn for the return of something; to suffer, typically from a broken heart"(please see points 12 and 15).

They have multiple paralleling arcs and themes around choice, identity, responsibility, leadership, grief, etc.

Their character designs have complimentary colour schemes like other canon ships (red/green and silver/gold).

They also follow the same story beats, separations, and reunions that other canon ships have in show (the meet-cute, the getting-to-know-you, the breakup arc, the distance makes the heart grow fonder trope, the (upcoming) emotional reunion, etc).

The animators, writers, and even voice actors on occasion, engage with fan content or discussions of the ship in a positive manner.

Miles Luna has said a few times that the ship is cute. He also highlights that their relationship is built on mutual understanding from being in similar circumstances as the youngest kids in the group with too much weight on their shoulders.

Miles also said that in a hypothetical scenario where everyone celebrates Oscar's birthday, Ruby would buy a co-op video game as a present and the two of them would stay up really late playing it together.

Rosegarden won 2nd place in a popular RWBY YouTuber's "Top 10 RWBY Ships" poll as voted by fans after Volume 8 (it would have been third place if Renora and Bumbleby hadn't tied for first).

We've gotten a "Rosegarden Moment" in every Volume premiere since Oscar's debut in V4.

Oscar shouting Ruby's name too many times in the V6 fight against Cordovin.

Maria tells Oscar to "keep that fire fed" after he overhears Ruby talking about food always making her feel better. Then a few episodes later, he suspiciously makes a casserole for the "team" after "they" had a rough day (where he stood up for Ruby when she was looking defeated in a group argument).

Oscar's the only person Ruby opened up to about her grief until the blacksmith. Meanwhile, Ruby's the one who's always assuring Oscar he's his own person despite the merge.

The parallels of Oscar's struggle with the merge and Ruby's ascension in The Ever After.

"I'm just going to be another one of his lives, aren't I?" / "What if you could be anyone?"

Characters within the narrative regularly notice how close these two are to each other. Mainly Nora, Weiss, Yang, Cinder and Neo.

Well, since OMEN has hijacked my brain YET AGAIN, I figured I'd go back and update Oscar's Salem-era design, since it was in DIRE need of a redo.

Figured I'd just go all-in on the whole 'possessed evil good-guy' aesthetic, and I also wanted to crank the horror factor up a little bit more, since everything I touch becomes at least a little bit horror-y these days. Blame my comic.

I tried to emulate both Salem's color palette, as well as some aspects of her Volume 7 outfit, with the bone accessories and stark red lines over black. The mask was somewhat modeled after an Ursa, and I also took a lot of inspiration from Neon White's mask.

It's really easy to ship rosegarden with the hurt/comfort trope because Ruby and Oscar are canonically always being hurt. All the time. Just constantly in the hurt phase. It's time for them to enter the comfort phase. Vacuo will be the start of it. V10 will be their volume. They will finally get the comfort they deserve, together. I believe.

Oh look everyone new Ruby merch from 2020 don't know why it took them several years to release this but here it is but you know it's odd it feels like something's missing you know something really important or rather an important character that you know the story wouldn't be at where it is without this character cuz you know this character

An important character who's actually tied to the law of this show and the relics that the main heroes need to keep away from Salem a character that when it comes to the final volume we're really going to have to pay attention to because they're the only character that knows

where the final relic is and it doesn't matter if you love this character hate them see them as a plot device or is just neutral about this character or whatever you might view this character is there's still an important character more important than certain other characters I'm not going to name who they're not even shown on this poster here so it doesn't matter but this person should be on the poster and if you look closely

there's enough room for them

Yall. The tower is Ozma.

Okay that makes zero sense so let me clarify: Beacon Tower mimics Salems old prison. It's a symbolic prison for Ozpin- a tower he put himself in. A problem that Ozpin is unlearning is that like,, he doesn't have to work basically on his own and shoulder everything. Sure he doesn't LITERALLY work alone but he doesn't TRUST anyone- and he has a habit of shouldering absolutely everything (wonder why Atlas is named that huh. Get a load of this guy).

Up until recently, he's basically been trying to be like. The hero of the story, the protagonist, because he believes it all Depends On Him and that it's all his fault if absolutely anything goes wrong (big fat guilt complex). But like. The issue is he's NOT that- and unlearning these issues is part of his character development seen at the very end of v7 and throughout v8. He's letting others take the reigns.

And i think it ties into how the merge ACTUALLY works. Because if you actually listen to Ozpin, the God of Light, and Jinn, and ignore the unreliable narrators surrounding the subject of the merge, and look at additional evidence- Oz DOESN'T just. Takeover his hosts. I think he technically could, but the merge would still happen. Essentially what I believe is that the merge DOES change Oz, and he and his hosts become indistinguishable- but the 'dominant' identity is the host. Oz is a part of them, and identifies with them, hence why they seem to change names each lifetime ('Ozpin' i doubt is something they keep every life). Plus, I mean, soul is identity, and I'd assume merging two souls (two identities) would change you. Lol

And the issue. His character development. Is that he keeps trying to essentially BE Ozma, aka the hero, but at this point, it's basically square peg round hole. He hasn't BEEN Ozma in a long, long time, but he still keeps trying to BE him, regardless of his goals or whatever. He's still a warrior, but he's not THE hero like Ozma was. Ozma was the knight helping a girl escape her tower- but Ozpin is the man that doesn't believe in fairytale endings trying to be the knight in shining armor. Square peg, round hole.

Hence why Ozma is the metaphorical tower.

And i think that's what people don't understand- he's not an unchanged Ozma pretending to be someone he's not (Ozpin). It's the other way around- he's a changed man trying to be who he was, but that person (that identity, those metaphorical old clothes) doesn't fit him anymore. He's been unwillingly changed so many times, he has no idea WHO he is, thanks to Lights curse.

And I think!! That ties into how he and Oscar will be separated, which is via Ascension. The whole point of Ascension is that you... become You. The point isn't to make Oz into Ozma again, it's to make him into HIMSELF. Both of them, really, but i reckon that Oz will physically and spiritually change, while Oscar will, surprisingly, be the most unchanged outwardly. If this happens, and Oscar (or Oz, or both of them) DOESN'T ask to use the Blacksmiths forge to make a new weapon(s), I'll eat my shoes. (I imagine Oscar would make a spear that turns into a pitchfork and Oz... maybe a scythe. For Reasons and because it's funny but only to me)

(Additional sidenote: i think it'll be Ruby who sends them to the Ever After or the Tree. She's the snake in the Little Prince, not the rose)

The tower is Ozma. Oz has to become himself to escape the tower (Ozma, and the divine mandate).
