1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst
One of the great unknowns about the 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst is exactly how many cars were built. Estimates put the total as low as 485, and as high as 502 cars. Regardless of what the figure actually is, the car itself is a pretty special piece of machinery.
The 300 Hurst is a giant of a car at 19′ in length. All of the Hursts rolled off the production line finished in Spinnaker White. The cars were then shipped to the Hurst factory in Warminster, Pennsylvania, where a substantial transformation was performed. The first change to be made was the removal of the standard Chrysler steel hood skin, which was replaced with a fiberglass unit. This featured a decorative hood scoop and the obligatory set of recessed hood locks. The deck lid was also removed, and once again, a fiberglass replacement, complete with a spoiler integrated with the rear quarter panels, was also installed. The White paintwork was complimented by the addition of Satin Tan highlights and contrasting pinstripes, and the wheels were adorned with the same Satin Tan color in the centers. This Hurst is a clean car, with a small area of rust visible in the lower section of the driver’s side front fender, and surface corrosion present on the car’s underside. The Spinnaker White paint appears to be in good condition, but there has been some deterioration of the Satin Tan paint on both the hood and the deck lid. The exterior trim and chrome all look good, while the tinted glass is close to perfect.
The 300 Hurst was a premium car at a premium price, so naturally, it required a premium interior. In this case, seat upholstery was available in a single type and color. Continuing the exterior theme, the color is Saddle Tan, and the material is leather. The plush front seats are not standard 300 items but have been pilfered from the Imperial parts bin. While the original intention was for a Hurst shifter to be part of the interior features, this is something that never eventuated. The interior of this Hurst is close to perfect, with a single discolored spot on the dash pad being the most obvious fault. The rest of it presents in virtually as-new condition, and as befits a luxury car, it is loaded with luxury touches. These include air conditioning, power windows, six-way power seats, cruise control, a remote trunk release, and I think that there also might be an 8-track player hanging under the dash.
The 300 Hurst was the biggest of the muscle cars, and as such, it needed a big motor to get it moving. In this case, it is the TNT 440 engine, pumping out 375hp. The Hurst also features a 727 TorqueFlite transmission, a 3.23 rear end, power steering, power brakes, heavy-duty rear springs and front torsion bars, and sway bars. The exhaust was a full dual system, ending in quad tips. This Hurst hasn’t seen a lot of recent use, and documentation confirms that between 1986 and 2019, it managed to accumulate a grand total of 20 miles! Since being removed from its climate-controlled storage, it has undergone a meticulous mechanical check and recommissioning, and it is now said to run and drive perfectly. The owner does suggest that while the tires look good, they are pretty olds, and replacing them might be a good idea. He also says that the Hurst may need mufflers fairly soon. The car does come with a fair collection of documentation, including the original Build Sheet and Window Sticker, a pristine Certi-Card, Owner’s Manual, as well as dealer paperwork and other assorted items.
While there has always been some question surrounding the build totals for the 1970 300 Hurst, one thing is certain, and that is that there are less than 300 cars in existence today. Pristine examples can fetch sums in excess of $30,000, and even a rough example in need of restoration can still sell for anywhere around $13,000. This one doesn’t need a major restoration, but it does require some cosmetic work. I’m not sure where bidding is eventually going to go with this one, but I would suspect that it will be somewhere around the low to mid $20,000 mark. Even at that price, it probably wouldn’t be a bad buy.

StEx Appreciation Month Day 31: Favourite Ships
I'm pretty much open to any ship to be honest - especially if it involves Rusty! Rusted Brakes (Rusty and pre-2018 caboose) The first ship I ever shipped when I became a Starlight Express fan. I thought it was a rarepair... but it isn't lol (which I'm glad there's shippers!). This relationship is far from perfect and I think a lot of trust needs to be built up again before they give anything a go! But they're one of my OTPs :) BoboEspresso (not sure if there's a ship name for them...) I love them so much and I have no idea how I started shipping them. I started loving Espresso… and then Bobo… and then boom! One of my OTPs! I just love them so much and they're totally canon (JOKING). SteamPress (Rusty and post-2018 caboose) Honestly, this ship started as a joke and at a time I hated the post 2018 caboose and found him cringe. I was like "Lol how funny would it be to put Rusty with this new cringe caboose" and then called it "Cursed Rusted Brakes". Then…. uhhhh I started actually shipping it… a lot. That's okay though because I now like the post 2018 caboose and don't think he's a cringe fail anymore. But yeah… this ship is honestly my number 1 OTP… they're my comfort ship if I'm being honest.
Greasedinah (Greaseball and Dinah) My favourite canon ship that's actually canon! Sure, they aren't perfect but what relationship is? I think they're very sweet and I enjoy reading fanfics and seeing fanart of them!
Rustgold (Rusty and Ruhrgold) The idea for this ship came when I was in my hotel room in Bochum and thought it would be a really cute ship. I like Rusty! I like Ruhrgold! So why not ship them? Lol! I thought I would be the only shipper but turns out a few other people shipped them too!

Please tell us about Fly By Night 👀
okay. in a universe of signals that crackle and metal that rusts, where buttons click and brakes screech, we are in the midst of the wreckage of war. ten years ago, the perennial empire- slow, clinging, suffocating- was overthrown by the luminous fleet, a group of flashy revolutionaries better at words than actions. for the people on the outskirts, however, nothing much has changed, new words for new leaders, but still the same hardships. the galaxy is still full of the wreckage of this war, with more hulking, twisted ruins emerging into the skies above planets every day, bringing mangled ghosts to scream across torn horizons.
here, we find the crew of the grocery hauler turned renegade ship, the fly by night. seven and merrick are psychically pairbonded ex child soldiers, created by the perennial empire as part of a secret biohacking weapons programme, who became instrumental in the perennial empires destruction when merrick destroyed the perennial flagship, the assurance, by summoning a lightning storm, which almost killed both him and seven. a decade later, they're living paycheck to paycheck using their skills to hunt and cleanse ghosts from war wrecks, while doing drag performances and boxing matches (seven) and taking weird space drugs and trading life and limb for information about what happened to the rest of their programme (merrick) on the side.
enter solaire, a neon fifteen year old with dreams of becoming a racer and has no impulse control, who they rescued from a shipwreck and have been haphazardly trying to parent.
enter october, a traumatised fifteen year old with powers that they can't control, on the run from what seven and merrick quickly realise is the sequel to their own programme, who is being hunted by the remains of the perennial empire, now a desperate and cruel militia.
being forced at last to confront the horrors that they both witnessed and caused, and all the ways that's fragmented them and brought them closer together, seven and merrick have to navigate protecting their teen charges, keeping their ship running, escaping from the perennials and not murdering each other along the way.
so yes. that is my current original fiction project, working title fly by night,
#fly by night#had this ask in my inbox for a while but here we go better late than never!!#always feel free to ask about my novellas i have art i have snippets i have picrews i have. autism-#original fiction#writeblr

~DAY #17: CB
Favorite Actor: Nivaldo Alverez, Mike Eborall, Ben Draper…unfortunately, it’s nearly EVERYONE who played him hkqGshjbfjb. (Honorable Mentions: Michael Staniforth, Gordon Gesatzki & Darren John.)
Favorite Songs/Scenes:
Every single There’s Me reprise. I mean….GAAAAAHHHH I CRY EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME
Wide Smile “reprise” (Broadway)
Favorite Costumes:
Hell yeah. Usher clown tin soldier core ;)
Favorite Ships:
Rusted Brakes…again.
Flat Top x CB
Turnov x CB
Headcanons:
He harrnessed all the energy once, SOMEHOW, to stay up at 3am just to play randomized opera music at Rusty’s window, and dramatically lip-synch to it the whole fucking time.
(btw, I have a crack playlist based on this sooo check it out or whatever: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5P2BaVO7zKPmoSE0SJAltl?si=74dce06b6dd14cda)
He is well-versed in every single language for almost no reason. (To some, at least. No, he did not learn from any of the Nationals. Wink wink)
Ceeb's had only a brief, secret affair with Turnov prior to parterning with him in the races....
Unpopular Opinions:
Oh how astounding would it be to have the Wide Smile reprise come back, and thus let the ✨Ceebert Deebert✨ have more C6 notes to sing :))
Some of you might be aware of the StEx Alumni Podcast on Spotify, some you may not be aware. (That's okay) BUT, I really would've loved to hear additional episodes with more Ceeb actors.

Favourite Actor: Andrew Prosser, Gordon Gesatzki, Matthew Wing, Thierry Gondet, Andrew Simeon, Robert Pigott,, there were a lot of good CBs!!
Favourite Songs/Scenes: Aside from the obvious (Wide Smile), I also love Taunting Rusty, and I just like looking at him being a lil toy soldier! Love his tickovers!!
Favourite Costumes: The Broadway/Bochum costume is objectively maybe the best costume in the entire show!!!!!! No I will not take criticism.
Favourite Ships: Worlds most casual Rusted Brakes shipper. Don't much care for CB ships!
Headcanons: Taller than you'd think. I see him as pretty much the same height as Greaseball!
Unpopular Opinions: Yeah "There's Me good" and all that but like honestly that storyline literally didn't go anywhere so I don't really miss it that much
#stex#starlight express#stex appreciation month#managed to squeeze this out before the day rolled over!#he is so silly <3 literally if :3 was a character

I used to not like Rusted Brakes, but I'm reading this one highschool AU (Rolling into Starlight on A03 by AlmondCakeFrosting | Read it its good) and I'm squealing and kicking my legs and stuff. I feel like it's fine in this AU cause, yaknow, he didn't try to kill Rusty (main reason I don't really ship it)
