StEx Appreciation Month Day 31: Favourite Ships

I'm pretty much open to any ship to be honest - especially if it involves Rusty! Rusted Brakes (Rusty and pre-2018 caboose) The first ship I ever shipped when I became a Starlight Express fan. I thought it was a rarepair... but it isn't lol (which I'm glad there's shippers!). This relationship is far from perfect and I think a lot of trust needs to be built up again before they give anything a go! But they're one of my OTPs :) BoboEspresso (not sure if there's a ship name for them...) I love them so much and I have no idea how I started shipping them. I started loving Espresso… and then Bobo… and then boom! One of my OTPs! I just love them so much and they're totally canon (JOKING). SteamPress (Rusty and post-2018 caboose) Honestly, this ship started as a joke and at a time I hated the post 2018 caboose and found him cringe. I was like "Lol how funny would it be to put Rusty with this new cringe caboose" and then called it "Cursed Rusted Brakes". Then…. uhhhh I started actually shipping it… a lot. That's okay though because I now like the post 2018 caboose and don't think he's a cringe fail anymore. But yeah… this ship is honestly my number 1 OTP… they're my comfort ship if I'm being honest.

Greasedinah (Greaseball and Dinah) My favourite canon ship that's actually canon! Sure, they aren't perfect but what relationship is? I think they're very sweet and I enjoy reading fanfics and seeing fanart of them!

Rustgold (Rusty and Ruhrgold) The idea for this ship came when I was in my hotel room in Bochum and thought it would be a really cute ship. I like Rusty! I like Ruhrgold! So why not ship them? Lol! I thought I would be the only shipper but turns out a few other people shipped them too!

StEx Appreciation Month Day Twenty-Six: The Nationals!

I'm blowing the dust off of another ancient draw the squad meme. Grouping them all together here:

Favorite Songs/Moments: Coda Freight (this song slaps so hard), Entry of the National Engines, and the races

Favorite Costume: I like all of the current costumes (but I'm in the Brexit needs a different tie camp)! Orange Bobo > Blue Bobo. I actually like Espresso's current costume more than the yellow base one. Hashamoto did look good in blue and Ruhrgold's ICE costume is soooooo much better than anything Weltschaft had going on

Favorite Ships: Bobo x Espresso, Coco x Brandi, Coco x Pearl, Brocky, Ruhrgold x Joule, Ruhrgold x Carrie, and Rustgold is cute

Unpopular opinions: I know it's not unpopular, but some of their names have really sucked (I'm looking at you Japanese Engines and Brexit). Ofc this doesn't affect my enjoyment of the characters but the writers could've tried harder

Day 26: Ruhrgold the German Engine (Nationals 1/3)

Yes, I'm only doing 3 Nationals because I only really have thoughts on three of them.

Jan Apel in the first and fifth pictures, Chris Barron in the second picture, Daniel Joey in the third picture, and Cole Dunn in the fourth picture.

Favorite Actor(s): Kristian Jacobs (Bochum update, 2019-20, 2023-present, principal actor in 2019-20, swing in 2023) and Owen Broughton (Bochum update, 2020-2023, swung the role, then became the principal actor in 2023).

Face Claim/Voice Claim: Cole Dunn (face) (I've yet to find a voice claim for him, truthfully-)

Favorite Song/Scene: Him racing with Joule (or Carrie for post-2018) during the second heat.

Favorite Costume: His 1993 and onwards ICE costume.

Favorite Ship(s): Ruhrgold x Carrie and Rustgold (Rusty x Ruhrgold)

Headcanon: He teaches [insert name of whoever you ship him with] German!

Unpopular Opinion: None at all!

Favorite Actors

I adore Max Rizzo, Dan Ellison, Delano Wilemsen, Max Luca Maus, Adrian Hansel, Jeffrey Socia, and Michael Pickering!

Favorite Costumes

The update costume is PEAK and I'm finally happy with his design. His previous ones just weren't quite right for me, but this current one SLAPS <3

Prusty, Steam Press (Rusty x BV), and Rustgold are all awesome! <3

Favorite Songs/Scenes

I love him being confident in any opening number he has, whether it be Call Me Rusty, Engine of Love, or Crazy. The Starlight Sequence is SO GOOD and SO emotional. But there's a specific scene that always tugs at my heartstrings, and that's after he's beat up by Greaseball's gang and Flat Top tells him to just give up.... and he's just left there, while you hear an eerie acapella reprise of Crazy and it changes the meaning of what that song means and AHHHHH I nearly sob, it's so emotional and impactful (another addition to the update that I LOVE)

Headcanon(s)

He wears his heart on his sleeve and despite him maybe not wanting to bother others with his problems, you can genuinely tell when he's upset/ bothered.

Unpopular Opinion

Uhm I think Kevin Köhler as a Rusty actor is kinda overrated, he's not any more talented than the plethora of others who have played him, and I've enjoyed others' performances more.

Ruhr keeps taking Rusty to watch musicals with him cause Rusty only has like one musical in his collection of VHS tapes and old DVDs. Rusty isn't quite as into them but really enjoys how into them Ruhr is.

I'm not sure which musical Ruhr would like best (I think it changes a lot), but Rusty seems like a guy who would really like the Lion King musical.

Here he is! The guy! The woo woo!

Favorite Songs/Moments: Crazy is an earworm, it's one of the songs that is almost constantly stuck in my head. The Starlight Sequence is SO beautiful and moving. The sibling energy between Rusty and the freight is always a highlight

Favorite Costume: The current one is peak Rusty!

Favorite Ships: Prusty, Rustin, Rustgold has also grown on me

Unpopular Opinion: I might get flak for this but I'm not a fan of Rusty's mullet, lol. Rusty needs curly or fluffy hair but the mullet is too much imo
