"Développe le courage de résoudre les problèmes pouvant être résolus, la sérénité voulue pour accepter les problèmes qui ne peuvent être résolus, et la sagesse d'en connaître la différence."

* * * *
Most of us have been raised to believe that the road to a happy life is paved with pleasure, and that the pursuit of pleasure is the path to fulfillment. But as we grow up, we begin to realize that life is not always easy or pleasurable. In fact, much of it is difficult and painful. We all experience loss, disappointment, illness, aging, and eventually death. We encounter stress, anxiety, and fear. We suffer from the slings and arrows of everyday life.
And yet, we continue to cling to the idea that happiness is found in pleasure and the avoidance of pain. We try to avoid our painful experiences by numbing ourselves with drugs or alcohol, distracting ourselves with TV or social media, or obsessing over our work or our relationships. But the more we try to avoid the basic reality that all human life involves pain, the more we are likely to struggle with that pain when it arises, thereby creating even more suffering.
The truth is that happiness is not found in the avoidance of pain, but in the willingness to face and accept our pain. It is in the willingness to experience our painful thoughts and feelings, to acknowledge them without judgment, and to take action in line with our values and goals. It is in the willingness to be present in the moment, to connect with our senses and our environment, and to find joy and meaning in the simple things in life.

In ACT, our main interest in a thought is not whether it’s true or false, but whether it’s helpful; that is, if we pay attention to this thought, will it help us create the life we want?

SUP! So because I wanna start writing stories- mostly fanfics of hp- but literally cannot write a whole book, I will try to write some oneshots here.
Here's some info about me ! :)
☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰𓆗☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰☰
I'm a shifter, I have been shifting for about a year and a half now.
I am deeply,
MADLY,
in love with Fred Weasley, Zayne and Keegan Russ. They're my ccs, my 'special' s/os, and the people that got me through a pretty tough time.
I am an editor! Although I won't reveal my editing account. (For now.)
I dislike the Fancast on hp. (At least the people that make it too sexual)
I really can't deal with dry people ☹️
Important one: Sadly i do get very jealous over my special s/os so if you do have the same s/o, please be careful with how you interact with me as I get physically sick from seeing other shifters say how much they love that s/o.. (Hate me for this idc I can't control it.)
〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎
Anyway, I'm REALLY excited to start writing, I have so many ideas I JUST DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. I'll try to write the oneshots consistently but keep in mind I am pretty busy with school + having an editing account. Thank you if you read this and I'll see you in my first oneshot! :P

some books i’m reading
I’m into self help books lately. At the moment I’m reading Set Boundaries Find Peace by Nedra Glover Tawwab and The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris.
I’m only a few pages into Set Boundaries Find Peace so I don’t quite have an opinion on it yet. The Happiness Trap however is… frustrating to say the least. I’m probably a third of the way through the book, and there’s something I’m just not grasping.
Don’t get me wrong, so far the book has been helpful. I’m on day 2 of trying to “defuse” my thoughts and that is an alright tool so far.
But the concept of accepting your emotions and rolling with it is just hard for me to understand. My emotions, particularly anxiety, are so overwhelming. They take over my entire body and mind. To just accept such a uncomfortable feeling is hard for me to do.
I’ll keep reading it and I’m going to give the book a chance, and I’ll post updates as I go!
