TUA Tarot: The Hanged Man
If you’ve ever wondered what the Hanged Man is all about, Luther is a fantastic poster child for this Major Arcana Card (#12).
First, he’s willing to sacrifice himself, so he can die with his lady love on their own terms. But the key here is that it is a willing sacrifice. A perfect illustration of the concept is the Norse God Odin. He hung upside-down from the World Tree and sacrificed one eye, in exchange for the gift of runes. So if you have ever given up something for a larger purpose, for someone else, or for a greater goal, you’ve lived the Hanged Man card.
People usually think the imagery on this card is of an upside-down crucifixion, a la Saint Peter — but with black-magic-satan-worshippy connotations. On the contrary, it is an image of suspended animation. Hanging upside down like that, you aren’t going anywhere. It is an intentional time out, with an outcome that can be expected to have been worth the trials, tribulations, and/or waiting in boredom. Snow White in her glass coffin. Or a hunger strike. Five in the Apocalypse — the first apocalypse. There is expected to be a payoff for all that waiting in the end.
Dead Luther in the Void is another perfect representation of suspended animation. He’s stuck there. Until he walks out of the elevator at the end, renewed.

The chronically online part of me and the outdoorsy part of me are at constant war and I think the conclusion is that we don’t respect podficcers enough and we need more of them (I’m listening to runelores pod of bnha hero class civil war for the 15th time)

Yo, another norse mythology gal here! There was a HUGE debate about Odin using Seidr on Tyr because only 1.) All of the aesir see seidr as women's magic, and didn't trust men who used it. 2.) Its one of the reasons why Loki gets so much shit because he's a man (yeah he shapeshifts and is gender nonconforming as we know but to the norse he was just Loki the man) as far as the aesir are concerned when Loki uses Seidr in his male form that's still wrong.
Odin makes sure no one sees him using Seidr at all, and if they do he kills them.
Very interesting! That gender mixing in Odin's character is always something I found very interesting. The High God and yet so transgressive in his patronage of the occult. You're making me wanna delve once again into Scandinavian pagan magic.

Rune Art:
THE DRAGON AND THE SPEAR (Part I) @gifts-of-heimdall-runes
THE DRAGON AND THE SPEAR was the name given to a design created in the second half of 2023 that subsequently became the title for a 2024 rune art project shared upon Instagram & Facebook.
●
The project began amidst chasing deep labyrinths of Dragons' Earth Energy that wind their way throughout the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc that was helped by a visit to Somerset and Glastonbury in June 2023. This project uses 33 runes of the Anglo-Saxon / Northumbrian Futhorc inspired by the works of Ingrid Kincaid.
●
The Anglo-Saxon runes scribed for this project were created using Serif Draw X8. Backgrounds and textures were developed using original images foraged from various internet sources, developed by MirrorLab app, and assembled via personal aesthetic preferences.
●
An intuitive colour model was used for the respective four eights of the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc:
Red: JOURNEYS OF LIFE
Blue / Black: JOURNEYS WITHIN
Purple: JOURNEYS OF SPIRIT
Green: JOURNEYS OF GROWTH
White: JOURNEYS BEYOND
●
Rune names and translations of 'The Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem' were copied from Stephen Pollington (1995) "Rudiments of Runelore." Anglo-Saxon Books, Norfolk.
●
Image refs:
▪︎ 'Celtic Frames' font by Typographer Mediengestaltung [Copyright©2000.]
▪︎ Old English fonts by Peter S. Baker
These final two designs began "The Dragon And The Spear" Rune Art Project in Autumn 2023.

(all of which were flagrantly adapted with sincerest appreciation):
Celtic Ring
Double Headed Dragon Vector
Ouroboros / World Serpent Vector (Edited)

●
Background textures were all adapted from originals found via PINTEREST.
●
This rune art project was created for fun.
It was shared to honour guidance of personal Inner Spirits.

omg I'm so excited about runes!!! when I was younger I learned the alphabet in runes and started writing my diary like that lmao
since then I've been very interested in them but I never had the chance to properly learn about them, so thank you for the opportunity!!!
also, you have any books about runes to look up to? thank you so much :)
ahh i am glad that you might enjoy it!! I am pretty much new with runes too (only started like 3 years go since I started worshipping Freyja). and so far it is a very good tool but I must admit it's hard ;--; at least to me, I still have some trouble when casting too much.
for some academic reliable sources, I would advice:
Runes: a Handbook by Michael P. Barne
A practical guide to the runes by Lisa Peschel
Nordic Runes: Understanding, casting and interpreting the ancient Viking oracle by Paul Rhys Mountfort
Futhark: A Handbook of Rune Magic by Edred Thorsson
Runelore: The Magic, History, and Hidden Codes of the Runes by Edred Thorsson
and pretty much any book by Thorsson

Various Podfic Rec's (Merlin, Harry Potter and James Bond)
These are the podfic recommendations that didn't quite fit with any other fandoms, but I would still hugely recommend them!
The length goes up as you scroll, definitely send the authors and podficcers some love! (if you want fic recs for a ship or something else, shoot me an ask or a dm, I probably have something!)
[Podfic] Offerings to Emrys by Impala_Cherry_Trickster
Ceewelsh, oakleaf, Ravin_Pods (Ravin), Rindle, TheLordOfLaMancha
Summary:
This is a podfic of Offerings to Emrys by Impala_Cherry_Trickster.
Author summary:
A Pagan Temple, a hunt to find someone to train Morgana with her Magic, and the group decide to give an offering to Emrys. Merlin isn't impressed.
11 minutes, gen
[Podfic] Good Fortune by platonic_boner
Caethes
Summary:
Arthur makes Merlin a lord, and Merlin does an astonishingly good job of running a village.
1 hour 15 minutes, Arthur/Merlin
[Podfic] Onfindan
RsCreighton, SomethingIncorporeal
Summary:
Arthur didn't speak to him for a week after he found out.
1hour 40 minutes, Merlin x Arthur
[Podfic of] To Have and To Hold / written by ravenflight21
EosRose
Summary:
“So who are you going to marry?” Uther demanded.
“No idea, father,” Arthur replied.
Uther thwacked his glove loudly on the arm of the throne. “Then it’ll have to be Morgana!”
Arthur looked horrified. “Morgana – no way, father! I’d rather marry Merlin!”
2 hours, Merlin x Arthur
Fool Me Once (Podfic)
imissmycatsface
Summary:
Uther finds out about Merlin's magic. Though he is intent on trying to kill Merlin, it never seems to stick, so they agree on a sort of truce in the meanwhile.
Arthur would be completely oblivious to all this going on, except that he accidentally stumbled upon the very first meeting between his father and Merlin, and now he has to deal with the utter chaos they think he doesn't know about.
2 hours, Merlin x Arthur
James Bond
[Podfic of] Ordinary Numbers
kholly
Summary:
More than anything, Mike Taylor wanted to be ordinary. Being a genius, he learned early in life, meant people expected too much. A career at the MI6 Help Desk seemed the perfect way to guarantee a lifetime of obscurity, until he got a very unusual tech support call.
4 hours, 00Q
Harry Potter
[Podfic] Paranoia and Puns
RuneLore
Summary:
Harry makes three rules in order to survive his fourth year: 1) Watch the new DADA professor like a hawk, 2) Suspect all animals of being animagi, and 3) Avoid Cedric Diggory at all costs.
It's a shame Diggory didn't get the memo.
1 hour 20 minutes, cedric/harry

Is that creator dead or did they just quit?
That's kinda the question I've been asking myself for a few weeks now. Sometimes, I check AO3 creators with stories I really liked, and check which year they last interacted with the site.
And if it's between 2020 to 2022, sometimes I look at that and wonder: "Did they suddenly quit or did they die and we have no way of knowing?"
And because most of the time, those people have a ton of fics to their name and just suddenly disappear.
Like, for example, I've read this sonadow fic from Tirainy on Ao3, What it could be like, and they have like 54 works. Their last update was in September of 2020, right into Covid. Their last bookmark was also in September of 2020. It really got me wondering if they just completely and suddenly left the community of fanfictions. Their last answer to any comment also seemed to be in 2020. They posted from 2016 to 2020 and completely disappeared afterwards. It's possible they just moved on with their life, but I'm paranoid, need more sleep and am procrastinating a project for college, so this is what I'm thinking about at 1 AM.
And Tiranay isn't the only one.
Another creator from Ao3 who just completely disappeared which I also really enjoyed the works would be RuneLore, whom, from what I've seen, have been making mostly podfics. I just really love her voice and the podfics she reads. On a really extreme case, from september 2020 to August 2022 (when she last updated), RuneLore has made 103 works on Ao3 and bookmarked 302 stories. Then nothing else since then. Ah wait no, on her last fic published in 2022, RuneLore has answered a comment in 2023, so never mind I guess. I suppose it's more than possible that, after 103 goddamn works(that's so much omg) she decided to take a break or just completely stop. I'll still recommend you her reading of Viridian: the Green Guide from Clouds (myheadinthecoudsnotcomingdown).
I've listened to it many times while doing animation projects for school.
But still, we've got here two case that one is in the category of "might be dead, who knows" and the other in the "probably just stopped, they've already done a lot".
In any case, the fact that there are probably creators on Ao3 who are dead right now and we'll just keep reading their fics, none the wiser, has been in the forefront of my thoughts as soon as I read a fic that hasn't been updated in a long time.
If anyone feels like it, tell me what you think about that. I've been meaning to get into that conversation with someone.
Toodles.

Slash Podfic Recs
The world needs more podfics! And lucky for you, if you were on the hunt for some, I've found a few you might enjoy!
Narration is an artform all its own (and audio editing?? I don't even wanna think about that, not gonna lie.) Curl up in bed and close your eyes and let someone tell you a story. Or hit that "play" button and have someone keep you company, and entertained, while performing house chores! Listen to a story while on your morning commute.
A variety of ships for you, a variety of lengths. All excellent stories! All I ask is that you please leave some love for these creators if you stop by; podfics get so little traction compared to the written word. And even if all you can manage is a kudo, I'm sure it would be so very appreciated!
See also: podfics of my fics, Snarry podfics, and Femslash podfics.
Danse Macabre
written by doshu, narrated by Aspen_Gray. Harry/Tom. Rated M. 2 hours, 45 minutes. Angst. Non-linear narrative. Sad ending.
A last dance. A cold comfort against the inevitability of death.
Harry’s danse macabre began with Tom Riddle in the Chamber of Secrets. It only took him six years to notice.
Theft of Assets, Destruction of Property
written by Helenish, narrated by EosRose. Draco/Neville. Rated E. 3 hours.
Surely it is a mistake to allow a single youthful indiscretion to cloud an already promising career.
An Ode to the Loose and Wrinkly
written by RoozetteR, narrated by fire_juggler. Charlie/Severus. Rated E. 13 minutes.
Before Harry is brought to Grimmauld Place the summer before fifth year, Charlie sneaks away to the Burrow and blows Severus. That is all.
Of Comets and Counter-curses
written by Woldy, narrated by fire_juggler. Remus/Sirius. Rated T. 44 minutes. Traveling. Motorbike.
If the past is a foreign country, can travel help to resolve a troubled history? Dumbledore assigns Remus and Sirius a mission to explore three European cities, or perhaps to find each other. Written for the 2008 RS Games as part of Team Post-Hogwarts using the prompt 'Brothers on a Hotel Bed (Death Cab for Cutie)'.
Sympathy for the Devil
written by Writcraft, narrated by fire_juggler. Harry/Scorpius. Rated M. 40 minutes.
Scorpius has wanted Harry for years. So far, Harry has managed to resist. This Halloween Scorpius hopes to change his mind.
Never Unseen
written by HogwartsToAlexandria, narrated by JocundaSykes. Kingsley/Severus. Rated T. 12 minutes.
Saying he'd hoped the day Severus let him help would come would be overstating the facts, but Kingsley certainly was glad he'd been around the night the other man needed his help more than he needed his pride.
The Once and Future Headmaster
written by allthingsmagical, narrated by JocundaSykes. Albus/Harry. Rated T. 2 hours.
Never has there been a more hopeless crush.
Colourblind
written by Someone_aka_me, narrated by Lady Ravenclaw. Charlie/Draco. Rated T. 14 minutes.
"She says the colours will come when he is finally touching the person he is destined to fall in love with. She says that everything will change in the matter of a single moment." He is fourteen when the world goes sideways.
Slithering
written by astolat, narrated by Lazulus. Draco/Harry. Rated E. 2 hours, 30 minutes. Courtship. Snakes.
Draco found the nest down in the Manor’s cellars, while he was clearing them out.
Paranoia and Puns
written by You_Light_the_Sky, narrated by RuneLore. Cedric/Harry. Rated T. 1 hour, 20 minutes.
Harry makes three rules in order to survive his fourth year: 1) Watch the new DADA professor like a hawk, 2) Suspect all animals of being animagi, and 3) Avoid Cedric Diggory at all costs.
It's a shame Diggory didn't get the memo.
The Secret Language of Plants
written by Endrina, narrated by sephonered. Series. Remus/Severus; Draco/Harry. Rated E. Part 1: 3+ hours; Part 2: 7+ hours; Part 3: WIP.
“Just… tell me. Tell me what is going on, Snape.” What was going on was that Severus Snape had no trouble tracking down one Petunia Evans, now Dursley, to a little town in Surrey where he saw how exactly she was treating her nephew. Which somehow led to last night and Severus knocking on Lupin’s door with a toddler half-asleep in his arms.
Divination
written by smilebackwards, narrated by sisi_rambles. James/Regulus; James/Lily. Rated T. 8 minutes. Second POV. Sad ending.
Mars is bright.
Only One Word
written by EntreNous, narrated by smirkingcat. Draco/Remus. Rated E. 1 hour. Daddy kink.
Remus worries far too much what Draco thinks of the differences between them, until he discovers what Draco truly thinks.
Shall we descend once more, my Hades
written by megyal, narrated by smirkingcat. Draco/Severus. Rated E. 1 hour, 30 minutes.
[From the request: Later schoolyears, possibly seventh year | In return for killing Voldemort, Draco is given to Snape, to become his concubine. (Prompt: The Myth of Persephone)

I got a question for you! I am fairly new the Pathfinder as a whole, but I was wanting to read more about all these Runelords you have been talking about. Any recommendations for where to start, or is this one of those moments where I just gotta be tossed into the deep end?
You can start with the Pathfinder wiki page on the Runelords, Thassilon, and all related subjects for the cliffnotes version! After that, the biggest portions of Runelord runelore is still to this day scattered through the pages of Rise of the Runelords, but thankfully there's an existent Anniversary Edition that has the whole AP and all related lore spun into a single book rather than across 6.
Lost Kingdoms has more information on Thassilon itself; the module Waking Rune contains some fun information on Krune and rune magic, and there's some more up to date information (as the concepts and characters have evolved over Pathfinder's lifetime) condensed into a few pages in Return of the Runelords: Secrets of Roderics Cove, which is probably the best place to start (and its the first book of an AP to boot!). There's probably more sources I'm missing, but I think 3 is a good enough start!

Book Review: Rudiments of Runelore, Stephen Pollington
If you have been looking for a relatively condensed source to get started with Runes I think I may have just the book for you. In this post, I will be going over the book Rudiments of Runelore, by Stephen Pollington. This is a small book that focuses more on the historical evidence we have for runes and their development rather than a magic- or divination-focused description, although these…

Having an office extension on our little cottage built for me to work in and am proud to be using local stone and a local builder, maintaining the vernacular architectural tradition of the region. I decided to engrave one of the stones with the Old English Ēðel rune which means "estate" or "Inherited property" and is a fitting mark for a property in England. As the rune poem says: [An estate] is very dear to every man, if he can enjoy there in his house whatever is right and proper in constant prosperity. #runes #odal #runelore #architecture #stoneengraving #engraving #oldenglish #anglosaxon https://www.instagram.com/p/CR58nyMNCwb/?utm_medium=tumblr
