Lena squared herself up after she stepped from the elevator.
This has taken considerable work. She’d had to arrange for her absence from boarding school to go unnoticed, or at least, unremarked upon. If Lillian got wind of her running away, she’d have been skinned alive. Perhaps literally. Since her adoptive father’s death, she’d actually looked forward to school, and to being away from Lillian’s abuse. Lex was now the only thing keeping her from Lena, and Lex was preoccupied with his project.
Her brother had been away for school for some time, but they had summers off together at least. When Lex took over the company when he turned 21, he grew distant and aloof, spending more time with his friend Clark or at work than with family.
With his absence came Lillian.
Still, she had managed to build a support network. Frank, her bodyguard-slash-driver was Lex’s man, but he was useful. Lena had spent months buttering him up to participate in her plan: she needed wheels.
In the meantime she’d acquired blackmail material. The head master at the school gave her a broad latitude after she implied that she might expose certain proclivities of his. That gave her the time away she needed. She’d carefully negotiated a higher allowance from Lex in exchange for accelerating her studies in anticipation of beginning her undergraduate studies at sixteen, which was a triviality for her anyway.
Lena walked down the hall, heart pounding against the backpack clutched to her chest. Each step felt heavy, alive with portent.
She could turn back now. She could turn her back now.
What if she was wrong? Paranoid, addled, as crazy as her mother, just like Lillian said? What if she was about to not only blow up her whole life, but slander her brother. If this went sideways, she didn’t know what exactly would happened to her, but Lillian had once, while tipsy on whisky from Lionel’s stash, told Lena that if not for Lex, she’d have Lena garroted with piano wire and buried on the estate, and like any bag of trash, no one would notice she’d been disposed of.
When she told Lex, her hands shook like leaves. He looked at her for a long cold moment and she worried that he’d slap her or scream or throw her out of the house, but he simply said, “I’ll talk to her about it.”
He did. She never made another threat.
He also brought her a wooden box, ornate and polished. Lex sat next to Lena and opened the box, showing her the contents, lying on red velvet. A five shot snub nose revolver and two speedloaders.
“I’ll teach you how to use this,” Lex said, grimly. “I know you’re smart enough to know if you need to. If anyone tries to harm you, kill them. I’ll clean it up.”
Lena had been terrified of it for months, even as she enjoyed the shooting lessons from Lex, given in a remote part of the estate near a burbling creek, the shots cracking the morning peace and shaking dew from leaves.
She had the gun in her backpack, and her hands were shaking.
The other contents of her bag were a weapon far more devastating. She was about to fire it and she’d have to accept the consequences.
Finally, she stood outside the door. Apartment 18B. The name on the lease was Lois Lane, but according to Lena’s reconnaissance, Clark Kent had been living with her virtually full time for the last six months, not long after something changed in his relationship with Lena’s brother.
Lena’s hand hung before the door for a good minute before she knocked, weekly. She hadn’t considered what might happen if they were simply not home. Her legs felt watery and her eyes burned. She knocked again. She was committed now.
The door swung open and Lois Lane stood before her. She was beautiful in an understated way, obscured by limp hair in a chaotic bun, rumpled clothes, and the stink of coffee on her breath.
“Who- what? Kid, what do you want?”
“I need to see Clark Kent. Is he here?”
“Who’s asking?”
“Lena Luthor.”
There was a gust of wind behind her, and Kent stepped into view.
“Lena?” said Clark. “Lex’s little sister? What are you doing here?”
Lena’s throat went tight. She swallowed hard, and as she anticipated, his demeanor changed. He softened. He craned forward slightly, studying her intently, and his brows shot up when looked at her bag.
He was checking her vital signs and he’d spotted the gun. In the bag.
“He knows you’re Superman,” Lena choked out, “and he’s going to kill you.”
Lois glanced at Clark with a stunned, stunned wide expression. Then, she grabbed Lena and yanked her inside, slamming the door. Lena squeaked.
“How do you know that? Lex knows? Did he tell you? What do you mean he wants to kill Clark?”
“Hey,” Clark said, crouching beside Lena to bring himself to her level, resting a comforting hand on her slight shoulder. “Take a breath, Lena. You’re safe here.”
In Lena’s plan, she was going to begin explaining, starting with how she deduced his identity and lay out what she discovered in his files. That was her plan, but no plan survived first contact with the enemy.
Lena began to sob.
Superman knelt beside her and removed his glasses, and enveloped Lena Luthor in a warm, protective hug. She sobbed harder, burying her face in his shoulder.
“Jesus Christ,” Lois whispered.
She drew the gun out of the bag and checked it with professional, practiced familiarity, dumping the shells into her hand.
“I think she’s telling the truth.”
Clark nodded.
Over the next hour, Lena was swept to Lois’s big couch and sat in the middle while the pair sat on either side of her. When she was hungry, Clark went out to get her favorite guilty pleasure meal, a big greasy burger and fries, and a milkshake too. Between bites, she explained everything, telling them about her brother’s insane plan to turn the sun red.
They believed it all. Lena had receipts.
Eventually, Lena was exhausted, everything had been said, and she sat with dull shock on the couch and stared at the black mirror of a blank television set, marveling at how small and helpless she looked, like a drowned rat.
“Why don’t you lay down for a while?” Lois said, gently. “Here, I’ll put something on the TV for you.”
Lena didn’t make it ten minutes in before she was asleep, curled tightly on one end of the couch with a pillow under her head.
She woke sometime later. It was dark now and she heard voices on the far side of the apartment.
“I called Bruce. He said he’s in, and he’s bringing reinforcements. I’m going to try to get a Green Lantern on board. We have to move fast. Nevermind me, if Lex does this, millions of innocent people will die. We’ll have to move fast.”
“What about the girl?” said Lois. “She can’t go home now. We have to get her somewhere safe.”
“I have to get you both somewhere safe. I should probably come up with a reason to get the building evacuated. One Lex realizes he’s been caught out, he’ll come after both of you.”
“You’re right.”
“I want you to go out,” said Clark. “Make it look like you’re heading out to a convenience store. Bruce is sending Alfred to pick you up, he should be here in an hour. I have somewhere else in mind for Lena.”
“Where?”
“It’s better if I don’t tell you, just in case.”
When he emerged from the back bedroom, Clark Kent was resplendent, clothed in the persona of Superman.
“Lena?” he said, gently. “We have to go. I’ll take you somewhere safe, where your brother won’t find you.”
Lois joined him. “You’re going to put on some of my clothes, and I’m going to check your hair. You can’t take anything with you. Lex Luthor might have been tracking you the entire time.”
Lena’s stomach dropped. What if she was right? That might be a move Lex would play, tracking Lena so that he could use her against his enemy. Lex had become cold, single minded. Lena was wondering how long it would be until she was disposable.
“Okay,” said Lena.
“I’m going to have to fly you.”
Lena did as she was told. She put on an outfit that belonged to Lois, a hilariously oversized Gotham U sweatshirt and leggings. When it was time, Superman bundled her up in his cape.
“I’m scared of heights.”
“I would never drop you,” he said.
Lena screamed when he took off. She was glad for the cape, glad she couldn’t see the ground. She curled up around him and pressed her eyes tightly closed, wondering exactly how fast they were going.
The landing came surprisingly fast. He’d alighted on the grassy lawn of a lovely beach house. Lena smelled something baking and heard voices inside. Clark knocked on the door.
A girl, a little older than Lena, opened the door. Golden curls spilled over her muscular shoulders, and she wore an oversized pair of glasses that did nothing to dull the endless depths of her blue eyes. There was something profoundly sad behind the curiosity in those eyes. She looked at Lena with mild confusion.
Lena stared back. There was a wild stirring in her stomach, and she shifted uneasily on her feet.
Then, the girl addressed Clark in a rapid, clipped, and utterly strange sounding language.
It hit Lena like a shockwave.
They were speaking Kryptonian.
“Lena,” said Superman, turning to her. “This is Kara Zor-El, my cousin. The last daughter of Krypton.”

find the word
thanks @violets-in-her-arms-writes for the tag! took me a few days, but here i am lol
i was given trip, throne, tired, tempt, and tone. i switched the latter two's order because both answers are from the same scene and chronologically it worked better haha
also editing to put it under a read more because damn i pasted a lot
trip ; i got nothing for this ;-;
throne ; once upon a cursèd dream
A thought brushes against the back of my mind. I have yet to see her face, but she seems familiar. Her thin frame, delicate hands, and there—a faint mark on her forearm. I suck in a sharp breath and finally lift my gaze. Our eyes meet. She has stopped in her tracks, only halfway through the throne room, but I don’t blame her. She whispers under her breath and her eyes, light brown and familiar, flick across my body. In a daze, I rise from my throne and shake off Mother hissing my name. I know everyone is staring at us, I can feel the curious heat of their eyes, but for once I am able to ignore them.
(re)tired ; long live the queen
I sank into the music, savouring it and committing it to memory until I heard it next. We danced for two songs afterwards, then retired from the floor. We made our way to his parents, who stood by the marble fountain talking with Lords Cassius and Alba. The two men bowed and excused themselves, leaving Theodore and I alone with Cadmus and Priscilla. “Felicem diem brumatis,” I greeted. “Happy solstice,” they returned, Priscilla a beat behind her husband.
(s)tone ; eris
(a dark sapphic fantasy that i hope to introduce sometime. aesthetic rbs here. also this "line" is ridiculously long but i'm also very fond of this entire scene so-)
The outskirts of Feyre weren’t pretty. If Lyssa was honest, the whole area surrounding the capital was dreary: a monotonous collection of farms and gaunt faces trudging down the murky streets. The north end of the city was likely the finest urban neighborhood in Tallia, the home of the wealthy, but the streets gradually worsened towards the south. Despite Lyssa’s grand plans of revolution, she didn’t like being in Feyre longer than she had to unless she was in the north end. Unfortunately, she was meeting an informant in Eira Park; not the picture of wealth. She strode through the streets, weeds and stones bowing beneath her feet. The houses here were clustered closer than Llorian marriages, with solid bases but looking weaker the taller they were. The people of Feyre preferred growing up than out, which made for a few unstable structures. It didn’t take much longer for her to arrive at the meeting spot: Rafe’s Tavern. The building looked to be three houses stacked on top of each other, the tavern at the bottom melding into the stone foundation that stretched across the whole block. Lyssa ducked under the hand-painted sign hanging in the doorway—not the smartest architectural decision—and claimed a small table away from the rowdy men arm-wrestling in the corner. She reached into her gold pouch and pulled out a coin for when the barmaid came around, then rested her forearms on the table. A minute later, a barmaid came around and Lyssa ordered a pint of berry mead. The tavern door creaked open and two people came in, her informant and— Rieka?
tempt ; eris
Lyssa scoffed. “I know someone who would spill information to me like water from a bucket. You don’t know that Rieka doesn’t have someone.” “She doesn’t, I swear.” Lyssa chuckled, but before she could say anything more, the barmaid arrived with her berry mead. While Melian ordered, Lyssa took the chance to look at Rieka for the first time in a while. She was sturdy and lithe but hunched. Her silver-white hair hung heavy around her porcelain skin, slick and tangly. Lyssa reached a foot across the floor and touched her calf. Rieka startled but smiled at Lyssa. “You’re Rieka?” Rieka’s face slid into a blank mask, which Lyssa knew was because she didn’t want to laugh and give the game away. Even though the two hadn’t seen each other in nearly a year, the lure of playing with an unwitting person was too tempting. “Yes, ma’am.”

oooh, for the guessing game, "gold" and "fog/mist"?
oo these are very fun thank you for the ask! for gold i have:
He wishes to be unarmed, but ever his bow rests upon his back, and ever the quiver of golden arrows is full.
He wishes to be uncrowned, but the simple golden circlet does not leave his head.
and the closest i come to "mist" is "mistress," lol.

Ooooo okay
So inspired by your runaway dancers fic (so good) but BD didn't run away just kind off suffered in silence faded into the background
But like BD is just feeling left out cause Alex and Kara are like a team both work for the DEO and constantly have sister nights and are just really close
And like Lucy Lane and Lena Luthor both know what it's like to be the black sheep (so do Alex and Kara they just don't notice it) and like BD isn't invited to sister night so Lucy and Lena take BD to go have fun and take BDs mind off of it
And then the sisters realise (somehow maybe they overhear or they get confronted) they have left out BD and apologise and all make up
So like angst and fluff for BD (you can change any off the plot this is just something to help spark ideas)
You're On Your Own, Kid.
Supergirl. Baby Danvers. Kara Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Alex Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Lena Luthor, Lucy Lane.
Word count: 1900
They are everywhere. Everywhere you look, the heroes of National City catch your eye, and you're left swallowing the lump in your throat. They're your sisters. There shouldn’t be a lump in your throat at the sight of them. But recently, things have been taking a hard turn for you.
You love your job. Really, you do. Taking care of little animals and being a veterinarian brings you joy. But sometimes, you wish you had chosen something more impactful—not just for the world, but for your sisters.
Alex is an agent. A badass one, armed with alien tech, and she’s an incredible doctor, skilled in both human and Kryptonian anatomy. Kara has just become a prominent reporter at one of the biggest media empires in National City and, of course, she’s also one of the planet's greatest superheroes.
And here you are, examining dog feces for worms.
You don’t mind. There’s no way to express this without sounding jealous, which you’re really not. Your heart swells with pride when Kara saves the world. When you see Alex doing something extremely dangerous yet incredibly badass, you want to shout from the rooftops that she’s your sister.
But lately, you’ve been feeling lonely and a bit left out. They have so much in common and spend so much time together that, little by little, you're left on the sidelines. It started with conversations about things you knew nothing about, then inside jokes you weren’t part of, then secrets. Now, spending time with them is emotionally draining, but not being around them feels even worse.
“Did you see this?” A technician shoves her phone in your face. You smile at Supergirl’s picture and the headline, though she can’t see it because you're wearing a mask.
“Chichi doesn’t have worms.” You remove your gloves, organize the space, and reach for her phone to read the entire news. “Whoa, Supergirl saved the world today!” You look up. “Isn’t it crazy to think we could’ve died analyzing feces if it wasn’t for her?”
“I know! I wish I knew her. I’d make sure she knew she saved us from the most embarrassing death ever.”
You think to yourself that you’ll let Kara know this as soon as you’re out of the clinic. It might have been a while since you two last talked, but you think your sister would appreciate hearing about her heroics. Everyone likes compliments, after all.
“We should go out to celebrate.”
“Not being dead?”
She nods enthusiastically. You almost take her up on it but think better of it. You want to celebrate, but you’d rather do it with Supergirl herself. Buy her potstickers and thank her in person.
You can’t buy Kara potstickers every time she saves the world—you’d go bankrupt in a few months. But not dying an embarrassing death calls for it, honestly.
You leave work and head to her favorite restaurant, and soon you're on your way to her apartment. As you’re about to knock, you hear Alex’s voice inside.
“Ayy!” she exclaims in an uncharacteristic manner. “Sisters’ night with cold beer after you saved the world and I saved your butt at CatCo was an awesome idea.”
Sisters’ night?
You check your phone to make sure you haven’t missed a text. No, you definitely weren’t invited to this impromptu sisters’ night. You try to muster the courage to knock anyway. They weren’t expecting you, but Kara wouldn’t—
“Golly, eating potstickers after saving the world with my family is the best feeling in the universe.”
You turn around without a second thought. It’s awfully sad how unsurprising this is to you. It doesn’t take you off guard, it doesn’t even make your stomach drop. It’s nothing new.
Sure, you’ve been almost out of their lives. Haven’t hung out in a month, Kara hasn’t visited you at work in months, and the last time someone said anything in the text chain was when you asked if they’d heard from Mom that day. Alex simply said no. And that was two weeks ago.
But still, not being invited to a sisters’ night? It literally has that name because it’s a celebration of sisters! You’re a sister. Even if you are the least favorite one.
Great, you’re back at it again. Feeling like you always did back in Midvale. Feeling jealous of Kara and her friendship with Alex. Wanting what they have so badly. The understanding, the support, the “I’ll die for you” love that you only ever got little tastes of.
Ugh. You roll in your bed, trying to go to sleep and praying you wake up invisible.
It's been a week since you realized your sisters want you out of their lives, so you've been keeping to yourself. They haven't come looking for you, not even when you didn't make it to games' night and said nothing on the group chat.
You hear the doorbell and go answer it. It's been a while since anyone visited and you have no idea who could be behind that door. "Lena?"
"So you are alive!"
"I guess?" You're puzzled by her visit. She's friends with your sisters. Sure, you've talked before, but she's Kara's best friend, not yours.
"Well, I wouldn't know. I haven't seen you in weeks." Lena glances inside your apartment and you finally realize you haven't invited her in yet. So you make space and she takes the chance to walk in. "You haven't been to any game's night, and haven't added anything to the group chat."
"Has —" The question burns in your throat and it needs to be asked. "Anyone else noticed?"
Lena stops, understanding your implication, and turns around slowly.
"Should anyone in specific notice it?"
You don't answer, and her expression demands more. You want to confide in her, but you can't. Lena is Kara's best friend. It wouldn't be fair to share something about your sister with her. So you bite your tongue and shrug. You're on your own. You always have been.
"Oh, no. No. Just curious."
"Well, I came to drag you to game night with me today and you can't say no!"
"No." Lena's face falls and you smile apologetically. "Sorry, I'm going out with some friends from vet school."
"But we're your family!" Lena tries again. Some family! They don't even notice you haven't been around in weeks. "Just come with me today and I'll stop bugging you." Before you open your mouth she adds, "Don't say no."
"No."
"See, you did it again." She pretends to be annoyed and you laugh.
"Sorry Lena, next one, maybe. This one is not gonna happen."
You don't make it to the next one, no matter how many times Lena texts you or tries to bribe you with your favorite food. You can’t go. How many sisters’ nights have they had that you weren’t a part of? How many times was it just them, never realizing something was missing? And worst of all, what if there isn't something missing to them? What if you're someone that people can't even miss?
You think you finally get Lena off your back. She stops texting you, so you're sure you won't have to explain yourself anymore or come up with lazy excuses.
“Y/N.” Your technician calls, and you raise your head from your computer. There were no emergencies today, so you've been just going over some patients' charts while you wait for the next one. “Some women outside are asking for you.”
You look at her with puzzled eyes.
“They don't even own a pet.” You furrow your brows harder and make your way to the front of the clinic.
“Lena? Lucy? What are you guys doing here?”
“We're taking you out for a drink,” Lena says, then adds in a more severe tone, “and seriously, I won't accept no for an answer this time.”
“I'm working and I have a patient.” You look at your schedule. “A cat named…” You raise your head at her, with an eyebrow raised. “Lex.”
“One of those bald ones that looks like it's inside out. Oh, be careful 'cause he bites.” She adds with a smirk.
You look back at the schedule to see that the last patient of the day also seems to be a prank from them. “And next, there is a dog named Clark.”
“He's a golden retriever! The sweetest, but super strong!” Lucy jokes, and you roll your eyes at their shenanigans.
“Can't believe you weirdos paid to hang out with me.”
“Oh, it was all Lena.” You chuckle, of course, it was Lena. Who else would literally throw money at your face so she could talk to you?
There's nothing you can say; you have to join them. You really like them both, but you know they are mostly your sisters' friends, so you can't tell them the real reason why you've been so MIA.
You've been more of a listener throughout the entire hangout. It's weird getting information about your sisters from Lena and Lucy instead of directly from them, but hey, it was their choice. You're just giving them the space they seem to want.
“So, when are you going to tell us about what's going on with you and why you've completely disappeared from our lives lately?”
“Nothing's happening,” you slur, not because you're drunk but because you don't want to talk.
“My bet was that you're in a new relationship,” Lucy says, and you wish she was right. It would make the loneliness you're feeling less prominent.
“I guess you lost the bet.”
Lena looks straight into your eyes. “Well, I think it has something to do with family.”
You don't answer, but the fact that you don’t is what makes them understand right away. Lena reaches for your hand on the other side of the table, and you swallow the lump in your throat and the tears coming.
“It's okay, darling.” She almost whispers in this packed bar full of drunk people. You still hear her perfectly and can hear the sweetness of her tone as well. “We both have been there too.”
“You have?”
Lucy smiles at Lena before turning to you. “Dude, we're the black sheep of our families. Of course we know what it's like not to belong with your family.”
“Yeah.” The tears threaten to leave your eyes again, and you do your best to swallow them down. “It's been hard. They're hanging out together so much, and they have so much in common.”
“Yeah, but that doesn't mean they don't miss you.” Lena tries, and you give her a watery chuckle.
“Trust me, they don't. You've reached out to me a lot more than they have in the past month. I don't think they even noticed I haven't been around.”
“That's crazy! Of course they noticed it!” It's Lucy who tries again.
“They had a sisters' night without me. They haven't texted me in a month, and I haven't been to so many game nights that I'd expect them to at least realize the counting of people has been wrong.”
“Oh, we haven't been playing group games these days.”
You just stare at them, not much left to say. They know where you're coming from, and there's no more excuses they can give for your sisters' behavior. Though, they aren't the ones supposed to be making excuses anyway.
After you get this confession out of the way, you can enjoy the night without having to tiptoe around the subject. Both Lena and Lucy are very understanding of your situation, and though you can feel they pity you, the overall feeling is warmth.
Because sisters' night is basically out of your vocabulary already, Lena and Lucy have turned the usual Thursday night into girls' night. It's the second one, and Lucy wanted to karaoke so you all ended up at the alien bar everyone usually frequents.
You weren't thinking about your sisters at all when you agreed to meet them there. And you also forgot they could waltz in at any moment after three beers and one shot. You're at the bar waiting for another beer, when Lena next to you whispers, "o-oh."
"Hm?" You turn to her and automatically you follow her line of sight and see Kara and Alex entering the bar. "Oh, shit." The bartender places your beer in front of you and you turn around gulping in. "I have to go."
"What?" Kara comes closer before you have the chance to run out. "I thought you said you'd be working."
"Yeah, I finished up and —" Lena gets interrupted by Lucy who fails to read the situation and comes in yelling,
"YAY, girls night!"
"Girls' night?" She raises one eyebrow to Lena. "Why was I not invited?"
"It hurts, aye." You can't help the grumble that leaves your mouth. Alex furrows her brows at you, hands finally out of her pockets. They share a look, before turning to you again.
"Sorry?"
Lena and Lucy quickly make their way to the karaoke claiming they're going to pick a song and you're left face-to-face with your biggest problem. You can't face them. Don't want to. It all feels unnecessary and you know you're the one who's going to get hurt in the end.
"I'll go help the girls." You point out and Alex stands in the way for you to leave.
"How about you stay and talk to us, instead? We haven't seen you in a while."
"And whose fault is that?" You widen your eyes to the words that just left your mouth. You can't believe you just said this.
Alex and Kara's surprised faces aren't far behind, and so you breathe deep before you say something else to turn this into an argument.
"I'm gonna go." You repeat.
"No, you're not. Not when it seems like you have a bunch of things stuck on your throat."
And they are right, you do have so many things you'd like to tell them. You take a deep breath, trying to gather your thoughts and the courage to speak up. The bar suddenly feels too loud, too crowded, but you know this conversation can't wait any longer.
"Fine," you say, finally feeling brave enough to meet their eyes. "Let's talk."
Kara and Alex exchange a glance, then nod. Kara motions to a quieter corner of the bar, and you all move there. Once seated, you take another deep breath and start.
"It's just… I've been feeling left out. You two have been spending so much time together, and I feel like I'm just on the sidelines. Like I don't belong."
Alex's eyes soften, and Kara looks stricken. "Y/N, we had no idea you felt this way," Alex says gently. "Why didn't you tell us sooner?"
"I didn't want to seem jealous or needy," you admit. "But it hurts when you have sisters' nights and don't invite me. Or when you have inside jokes that I'm not part of."
"Oh, baby. We never meant to exclude you," Kara says, her voice full of regret. "We thought you were busy with work or just needed space. We didn't realize you felt this way."
"Well, I do," you say, your voice trembling slightly while you try to hold back the tears. "And it sucks. I miss you both. I miss being part of your lives."
Kara reaches out and takes your hand. "We're so sorry. We love you and we want you to feel included. We'll do better, I promise."
Alex nods in agreement. "Absolutely. You're our sister, and we want you with us. Always."
Their words bring a rush of relief and you can't keep your tears in check anymore. "I just want to feel like I matter," you say, your voice breaking.
"You do matter," Kara insists. "More than you know. We're a team, and we need you."
Alex squeezes your other hand. "We'll make it right. No more sisters' nights without you. From now on, we do everything together."
You feel a weight lift off your shoulders. "Really?" You ask, heart daring to hope. They both agree so vividly with their heads, you can't not believe them fully. "That's all I wanted. I just want my sisters back."
Lena and Lucy return from the karaoke machine, eyeing the three of you with curiosity but giving you space. You share a small, relieved smile with your sisters. For the first time in a long while, you feel hopeful that things will get better.
Kara is the first to get up from her seat and pull you into a hug. Alex joins right after and soon you're sandwiched between your sisters and it's so nice you even forget you're in a bar.
But it's only for a brief second, until your friends come closer and join the hug. Soon after Kara runs to the karaoke machine to pick a song for you three to sing together, and Alex pays you another beer.
You can't believe you were away from your sisters for over a month, because nothing is good enough that it doesn’t get a hundred times better when they're around. You hope they are always around.

Note
How do you torment your favs (aka how have you traumatized some of your favourite characters)?
Well, if we're talking broadly here I mostly give them mommy issues, but lets go character by character here for the nitty gritty/true pattern examination
TW for mentions of miscarriages, abusive parents, and just a lot of trauma
Apple White-- Mommy issues, internalized homophobia that she does mostly get over but it doesn't help when a lot of the world is homophobic to her, body image issues, and a possible eating disorder
Darling Charming-- mommy issues, daddy issues, experiences a lot of homophobia and misogyny
Louie Duck-- Just. Just the worst mommy issues. Wants Della to love him so bad but feels like it's literally impossible because of their differences and his "glaring" flaws and selfishness
Yakko, Wakko, and Dot (Long Live the Queen) (idk how to write normal universe whoopsies)-- Abusive grandmother who actively tries to (and nearly accomplishes) murdering their parents making their parents have to abandon them for a year, Yakko has parentification trauma from that, Wakko gets literally starved and locked in a tower on multiple occassions, and Dot feels like it's all her fault whenever Wakko gets hurt because she's supposed to be the perfect princess. It gets fixed but it do be a lot
Lena Warner (my oc from Long Live the Queen)-- Abusive mother who literally attempted to kill her. Wants very badly to be a proper mother to her children and keep them safe, but her mother has far too much control and power over her for that to be truly possible. Had a runaway marriage in her late teens in order to avoid being married off to some old guy. Her mother's murder attempt caused a miscarriage and robbed her of a year with her children while she had to physically recover from her injuries. Ended up killing her in the end though, so that's good.
MK (dadsy of two)-- dead parents that were incredibly abusive (especially his "mother"), a burning desire for closeness to his guardian that he feels he can't access out of fear of attachment + Pigsy's own distant behavior at unpredictable moments. Desperately wants Pigsy to be his dad and nothing hurts more than when Pigsy actively denies it. Craves affection and praise more than anything in the whole wide world but doesn't know how to accept it/how to react when it happens.
Mei (dadsy of two)-- dead parents who gave her severe perfectionism but died before they could ever apologize/acknowledge/realize any damage done. Blames herself for starting the fire because she knocked over an ancestral artifact (that fire was actually fixed, the fire that killed them is unrelated but she'll never believe that). Wants to be the perfect daughter for Pigsy while also not feeling like she's actually his daughter because of the distance + complicated grief related feelings.
Pigsy (dadsy of two)-- tbh what haven't I done to him? Gave him guilt over the death of Sandy's ex fiancee due to "causing" Sandy's trauma that lead to the incident, gave him mommy and even worse daddy issues, deals with fantasy racism on such a regular basis he believes being distant with MK and Mei (ala saying he isn't their father/he's only their legal guardian) is the only way to really protect them from it (and even that backfires on more than one occasion). Internalized fatphobia. PTSD. Smoker. Severe lack of self esteem. Couldn't give less of a shit about himself and his own health (ESPECIALLY mental) while worrying endlessly about everyone else. Just. just so much trauma for one man. what the fuck.
Tang (all fanfics)-- Abusive, severely homophobic parents who cut him off when he was 19 due to finding out about his homosexuality. Could barely afford food for a year until he met Pigsy and basically relied on his charity in order to not starve to death/suffer the effects of severe malnutrition and still continue his education. Loves Pigsy endlessly and hates watching him torture himself over the littlest things (knows he does the same and feels so helpless every time it happens). Wants to be a dad to MK (and Mei) desperately but worries he's nothing compared to Pigsy. Has constantly had his passions belittled and mocked to the point it's genuinely surprising to him that MK actually likes his stories and the way he does things.
Sandy (all fanfics)-- PTSD, guilt over having missed 20+ years of his best friend's life. In Dadsy of Two he killed his fiancee after a nightmare about the war he and Pigsy had fought. Wanted to be a parent but after that accident, he can't trust himself with another human life like that. Has a hard time trying not to be "the therapist friend" and poking where he shouldn't when it comes to his friend's emotional issues (especially Pigsy's). Had just the worst toxic romance with Pigsy ever that was just the hottest of messes before it all fell apart but they tried to be friends (until his fiance's death) (the time away was very much needed for them both to heal and grow so they could actually be good friends again but it still hurts it took that long).
Pigsy (Li Na AU)-- most of the above but even more trauma around fatherhood, only made worse by the fact he had five miscarriages in the past (only three Tang knows about). Buries that pain instead of talking about it and believes that because Li Na is alive and well the pain is gone (it's not. it lives within him in every waking moment and is why he's so fucking terrified at the thought of losing her or MK).
....So yeah! Just--.... Just so much man, damn wtf someone needs to take them away from me I keep hurting them, wtf---

When you came to, it was slow and arduous. You felt weak, incredibly so, but you felt two weights snuggled by your sides. You groaned, and that’s when you felt a hand against your cheek.
“Hey there, beautiful.”
You smiled and leaned into the touch, knowing instinctively who the hand belonged to.
“Beautiful isn’t the description I would give myself this moment,” you groaned.
You blinked your eyes open and focused on Kara, who was watching you with the softest smile that you had ever seen. You watched as she tucked some of her hair behind her ear before she cupped your cheek.
“You will always be beautiful to me.”
You rolled your eyes and chuckled. “Charmer,” you quipped before you looked around. “Where’s Angel?”
“Right here.”
You looked down to see her cuddled into your other side, her cheek buried into your neck, and when you saw her, tears came to your eyes. She was here, and she was safe. You leaned down to kiss her hair, sniffling as you tried to hold her closer. Your little girl was safe. And she was so brave.
“She wouldn’t leave your side,” Kara whispered as she ran soft and gentle fingers through her daughter’s hair.
“If it were me, you would have to pry me away from her, so I understand.”
Kara chuckled and kissed your cheek. “How do you feel?”
“Like I just got absolutely decimated by a runaway train. How are you?”
“Nothing the sun lamp couldn’t fix,” she replied.
“How’s Alex?”
As if on cue, she shuffled into the med bay. She groaned as she held a massive ice pack to her head. Alex didn’t say anything. Instead, she walked to a cabinet, opened it, and took out a large bottle of Advil.
“I know it doesn’t look like it, but I’m so happy that you’re awake,” she grumbled.
Alex readjusted the ice pack on her head. “My head is beating like a goddamn drum.”
“Are you okay??” you asked her.
“It’s a result of the psychic link we had with you and J’onn. It hit her a little harder,” Kara explained.
“Sorry that I’m not super awesome and have superpowers,” Alex mumbled sarcastically.
“Yeah, bummer,” Kara cackled. Alex shook her head.
“Bitch,” she said under her breath as she walked out. You watched her pop at least four pills in her mouth before she disappeared from view.
Kara giggled and you stared at the door she left out of. “I’m no doctor but I’m pretty sure that she took way more than the recommended amount.”
“She’ll chase it down with some wine in about an hour. She has never been one to listen to doctor’s orders.”
That made you laugh. Beside you, Angel stirred awake. She yawned before looking up.
“Hey there, beautiful,” you said, and her eyes widened.
“Mom!”
She circled her arms around you and hugged you closely. You held her back, your nose buried in her hair.
“Hi, babygirl,” you murmured against her skin. “I missed you so much.”
“I missed you too!”
She was full on sobbing now, and you held her closer to you, smiling as she released the emotions that she’d been holding in for so long.
“You’re okay, right? Like you’re back to normal?”
“I’m not quite sure. Reign is gone but I have no idea if I’m me again.”
“Actually, I do have an answer for you,” Lena said with a smile as she walked in.
“Yeah?”
“The results from your blood examination came back. You are 100% human. There’s no trace of Kryptonian DNA anywhere.”
You breathed a sigh of relief as you sank back into the bed. That was so reassuring to hear. Angel pouted a little though, her eyes crinkling at the sides.
“What’s wrong?” you asked her.
“It would have been kind of cool to have another mom with superpowers. Could you imagine if you and Momma fought bad guys together?”
It was a thought, but you still shook your head. “There’s no way I would be remotely responsible if I had powers. All it would take would be for someone to cut me off in traffic and then I’d throw their car off a bridge.”
Angel snorted and Kara frowned. “No, we don’t need that.”
You turned to face Lena. “You protected my daughter from Reign. You protected her with your life. I don’t even know how to thank you.”
Lena smiled softly and held her hands together. She looked away as a slight blush colored her cheeks. “You don’t have to thank me at all.”
You shook your head. “No, I’m going to, because had anything happened to her, or you, or anybody else that I care about, I wouldn’t even know how to cope. And yet, you put yourself between Reign and her like it was nothing. You could have been hit or worse!”
Lena took your hand and held it tightly. “But I wasn’t, and neither was Angel. We’re all safe and relatively unscathed. You have nothing to worry about except for you to heal. We’re all okay and now you should focus on being the same.”
You nodded. Lena waved shyly to Angel and Kara before she took her leave. Everything was silent for a moment as you held your two favorite girls.
“I’m hungry,” you said a moment before your stomach growled.
Kara sat up. “Potstickers? Pizza?”
“All of it, please.”
Kara chuckled as she gently got up from the bed.
“Yes, ma’am.”
***
It was two more weeks before you were cleared to leave the DEO. After extensive tests that proved that you were no longer affected by Reign, J’onn practically pushed you out the door and told you not to come back. All of it was said with a smile on his face, of course. You were back at L-Corp with Angel doing her homework on the desk across from you.
“You’re okay with being here? It might be an all-nighter.”
Angel shrugged and smiled adorably. “No, I don’t mind. I wish to spend more time with you. Even if we’re not doing anything together, I still want to share a space with you. If that’s okay.”
You smiled, a bubble of emotion welling in your chest. “Of course, it's okay. It’s more than okay.”
Angel gave you the widest smile. More time passed when Lena checked in on you. You had to reassure her multiple times that you were more than okay to do this. By comparison, it was infinitely easier to stay at work all night than to be some alien doomsday device for all of mankind on planet Earth. That one made her laugh, and she took her leave after making you promise that you wouldn’t overdo yourself. As the time continued to tick on, and the day turned into night, you heard the sound of Kara’s boots landing on the balcony.
“Hello, gorgeous,” she said to you as she stepped inside.
Angel was already asleep. With a stomach full of pizza and her homework completed, she snoozed on the couch, and you even tucked her in.
“Hello, hello.”
You got up and hugged your wife, your face burrowed into the skin of her neck. She cupped your cheek before leaning down and kissing you deeply. You melted into her, Kara’s lips warm and strong against yours as she continued to hold you close.
“Wow, I missed that,” you admitted when she pulled away.
“Well, if you have some more energy later tonight, I would be more than happy to oblige. Maybe more kisses, or maybe something much more.”
You went to respond when Angel dry heaved.
“That’s so freaking gross.”
You chuckled and held Kara close. Everything was okay. You were okay. Your family was okay, and for the first time, you felt more than prepared for the future, whatever it may bring.

911 Spoilers Season 3: You’ve been warned. 😅 Buddie Rewatch
Episode 4: Triggers
The 118 doing a fire drill, the 118 not preforming well. They are about 17 minutes behind on schedule.
Buck is the new Fire Marshal. This is his light duty. He is taking it serious in the hopes of eventually being a fire fighter again.
A bunch up of people fall down the stairs because a man has an epileptic seizure. This is apparently working against the 118s total score.
We meet the ambulance chaser attorney.
Chimney disclosing to Eddie his crisis with Maddie, while Eddie is super sleepy. He’s yawning because Christopher isn’t getting any proper sleep.
Buck shows up to the fire house to give them their training report. Light banter between him and Bobby about revenge for all the write up and Eddie making fun of Buck because he is “not good at math”
Buck mentions receiving a call from the ambulance chaser attorney about the fire code issues at the building the training was held at.
Lena interrupts and calls Eddie over to help spot her bench press. Eddie taps Buck on the shoulder and says, “Good to see ya Buck”, and runs towards Lena. Buck is confused and asks who Lena is. Which prompts side eyes and concerned faces from Chimney and Hen. They walk away awkwardly and leave Bobby alone to make the introduction.
Buck already feels replaced and out right states, “You’ve replaced me.” Bobby is quick to say no, but Buck is quicker to point out that his cubby that normally says Buckley is covered up with the name Bosko.
Bobby telling Buck to relax that his place at the fire house will be there when he is ready. Buck argues that he is ready now.  Their conversation is cut short because of an emergency call. Everyone else runs out of the firehouse. They pan to Eddie and Lena together and then back to Buck as he stands there in the middle and all these firefighters run past him.
Buck walks over to his locker and rips off Bosco’s tag off.
I always wondered what happened after the team came back from the emergency. Did they notice right away that Bosco’s name was ripped off. Did Bobby apologize on behalf of Buck. Did Eddie make an excuse for him?
Eddie is asleep and is awaken by Christopher's screams.
Christopher is obviously terrified and Eddie hugs him tight trying to comfort him.
Eddie is talking to Christopher’s therapist, where we learn that Chris is continuously drawing a drowning woman and trying to understand what he may be processing.
Eddie is the one to mention how hard Buck tried to shield Chris as best he could, but there was a long period where they were separated.
Buck is speaking with the attorney regarding the possible lawsuit against the building, but turns out it is a lawsuit against the city. Buck is not interested at being involved in a lawsuit against. Even gives a speech to the attorney about how those city employees are his family before walking out of his office.
Car off the Cliff: Chimney and Lena descend down the cliff to get towards the car.  Eddie and Hen remain above. Eddie is responsible for the rig. When the car than drops another 20 feet, Eddie’s leg is almost cut off by the rope.
Eddie and Lena are at the edge of the cliff, facing towards each other when the cliff starts to give out a little more. They runaway from the edge, Bobby radios Chim and tells him he needs to move now.
Chim and the little boy starts to ascend up, Eddie cuts the rope, allowing the car to fall to the bottom of the cliff.
Athena invited Buck over for dinner, without first telling Bobby. She wants to create an environment where Buck knows he is always welcome.
Buck is quick to disclose how the conversation with the attorney went and how he was quick to turn down signing an affidavit that would have gone against 118. Bobby is thankful, but at the same time reserved, we learn that he has not disclosed something to Buck yet.
Buck uses that conversation to further discuss going back to work full time and how maybe a petition is what they need to get past the “dumbasses” who is stopping him from going back to work.
Bobby announces that he is the dumbass. That he is the reason why Buck cannot go back to work. Bobby is using the fact that Buck is on blood thinners as the excuse. Buck becomes visibly upset and challenges Bobby. He reiterates that he is at 100% and very capable of being a firefighter again.
At this point there is too many emotions, Buck stands up from his seat and thanks Athena for the invite and storms off.
Bobby and Athena attempt to get him to stay, but he ultimately leaves angry and slams the door.
I really feel for Buck in this scene. He was under the impression that his captain had his back, but turns out that Bobby was in the way of the one thing he wanted. I also understand Bobby’s point about wanting Buck to be safe and making sure the team will be safe, they can’t worry about Buck out in emergencies. This moment felt like a teenage boy fighting with his parents, both sides being misguided.
Buck is back in the attorney’s office. This time wanting to sue the city himself.
The attorney is very vocal about what opening this lawsuit could do to Buck and the possible consequences for his future. Buck is simply concerned with being a fire fighter again and he is willing to do anything to be that again.
The attorney than proceeds to lay out the rules and how he cannot be in contact with anyone in the firehouse. Buck admitting that he already believes that cannot talk to any one any way. He is fighting this battle alone.
Eddie is punching a punching bag and talking to Lena about Chris’ therapy and the advice Eddie received about keep loving him.
It seems like Eddie is a bit hesitant of this therapy approach. Lena is very playful with Eddie. She also becomes very vulnerable with him and tells him about the time she went to therapy when her father died. It did not work for her, but she also notes that different people need different solutions to process their trauma.
Lena mentions that she does not know Christopher, but that something that worked for her when she was younger was when her mother would process her emotions with her. When her mother was sad in front of her and that it was okay. She is suggesting Eddie takes this approach. That they approach this together. Eddie admits that it was good advice. Lena stares at Eddie with what I can describe as admiration.
I honestly do not know what the writers were planning with Lena and Eddie. They were playful and flirty with each other, but Eddie did always seem closed off to her. We got to learn about Lena being vulnerable, but Eddie not really, at least not with her. Maybe there was a one side crush.
Eddie is putting Christopher to bed. Being playful. Eddie takes a moment to tell Chris that he can tell him anything. Chris says that he knows. Eddie starts to say I love you, and good night as he starts walking out the room.
Eddie pauses at the door and looks over to a drawing that is hung up on the bulletin. It’s a drawing of Shannon, Eddie, and Chis together as a family. The drawing of Shannon looks familiar.
Eddie walks over to the dinning room and pulls out Chris’ recent drawing of the drowning woman. He compares the two photos and understands Chris has been drawing his mother drowning.
Eddie confirms this with Chris and asks him why he didn’t tell him that. Chris responds with, “I don’t want to make you sad.”
They hug and Eddie reassures Chris that there is nothing wrong with being sad and they can always talk to each other
Buck shows up to Bobby and Athena’s late in the evening, apologizes for the previous night. Athena is quick to invite Buck in, but Buck refuses.
Buck lets them know that he is suing the city, the firehouse, and Bobby for wrongful termination. That they will no longer be able to talk and that Buck will not stop fighting until he gets his job back even if that means fighting Bobby.
I was going to combine Episode 4 and 5 notes, but realized Episode 5 had a lot of notes. I may post Episode 5 today, but later in the day, because if I want to post most of my notes before the Season 7 premier, that may just be something I need to do. I really don't care if these post get alot of engagement, I had a lot of fun re-watching the series and really dissecting Buck and Eddie.
I will say, that between Season 2 and Season 3 there is already vast differences and nuances in Buck and Eddies relationship. I'll likely make a stand alone post about that after I finish transcribing all my notes for this season.

your turn. tell me about your wips 👀
oh lord... where do we begin. let's start with me meddison/grey's anatomy wips.
so you were never a saint, and i loved in shades of wrong. this wip is currently in progress, two chapters on ao3 so far. basically my take on an angsty s2 meddison. they run into each other constantly at joe's bar and are very sad.
hollywood au. my meddison hollywood au in which meredith is unwillingly dragged into the spotlight after finding out her boyfriend is a. married, and b. famous. she gets a guest role on the same tv show as him and his wife. things spiral from there.
dead derek s4 au. basically what the title implies. a 'what if' scenario in which derek died in s4, and meredith and addison connect over shared grief.
tedstina fic. this wip is if after owen cheats on her, cristina shows up, drenched, at teddy's apartment all 'i didn't know where else to go.' there is lots of sad, gay, pining.
now... we move on to my swan queen wips. there are a lot, be prepared.
sad regina mills fic #1. a very angsty wip about regina's relationship with food, set during s1 of ouat. she's not dealing very well with henry hating her, and she turns to one of her coping mechanisms, which may or may not land her in the hospital.
sad regina mills fic #2. set after cora's death, little snippets of regina reflecting on her mother, and childhood. some hurt/comfort, also hurt/no comfort so.
say don't go song fic. regina reflecting on herself and emma in the middle of the night, with the dagger, after emma's sacrifice post s4 finale. (also regina really misses emma and doesn't know what to do with herself.
s6 regina is sad about emma getting married fic. has this been done before, yes. but i want to do it. anyway, buckle up, this one is very sad. our favorite lovable idiots fight, and make up, there are 'i miss you' texts, and lots of lesbian pining.
camelot hurt/comfort au. a little ficlet, (which could spiral into something bigger if i'm not careful,) in which emma seeks comfort from regina on a day when the voices are really loud. there's bed sharing and cuddles, and also hook is thrown into a tree.
the hanahaki au. um well... this is exactly as it sounds. set like 4b-ish. regina starts coughing up flowers one day, and it slowly gets worse until she's almost dead.
there's bed-sharing in this one. after a fight with her parents, emma shows up at regina's place. there are feelings, angst, and surprisingly maybe fluff.
the road-trip fic. uber driver x runaway bride. that's all i'll say.
neverland rewrite. except swanqueen, and mentions of torture. two hurt women heal together and find their son.
there are more... but i'll stop there.
here are some ideas i've had, but haven't written yet:
regina on henry's birthday during the missing year
my hc that regina taught herself how to draw/paint during the first 18 years, and the people she paints as vignettes.
supercorp: lena knows kara is supergirl au, but angsty
my meddison fic after meredith grey almost drowns
oh, my star wars fusion swan queen fic
anyway... i'll end this here before i get too carried away lol (this took forever to type.)

This chapter is now Kara's turn to prepare for the date. (While other shenanigans happen). I'm a little slow on updating due to not feeling well. EXCERPT:
Kara hopped off the bus at its first stop in the San Jose Barrio. Nia followed close behind. “So it’s just up ahead.” She led the way down the street toward the Mexican market where she’d found the group originally.
Nia nodded and fell into step next to her. “I ran some searches on the names you gave me, but found very little. Other than a missing sibling, where the case was deemed a runaway. No follow-up.” Her messenger bag hung her shoulder, and she tugged at the strap, her eyes darting back and forth across the street. “You get the feeling we’re being followed?”
Kara took a deep breath and opened up her awareness to the full breadth of her superhearing. Sounds poured into her awareness — car wheels against pavement, footsteps against pavement or grass, claws scrambling up bark, the flutter of wings atop roofs — oh, someone had exited the bus right before it pulled away from the curb. Their heartbeat was fast, as if the person exerted effort of some type. Soon footsteps clipped against pavement in their direction.
She spared a glance behind them, but no one was there. She could hear the heartbeat and the footsteps still. She tipped her glasses briefly downward and squinted, but her x-ray vision on revealed the vague outline of a person. Some sort of energy masked them from view.
In her pocket, she had one of Lena’s warding vials— Lena wouldn’t let her leave home without it now — and warmth exuded from it. Far more than when Nia and her set out on this task. Which meant it warded against something. And the one thing Kara had no protection against?
Was magic.
“Yeah.” Kara pushed her glasses up her nose and leaned closer to Nia. “I hear their heartbeat, but they masked themselves with magic I think.”
“Magic?” Nia wrinkled her nose. Ugh, that’s why I feel weird. Magic use always makes my nose itch. Except Lena’s. That makes me feel all warm and gooey.”
“Doesn’t it?” Kara sighed and smiled at the thought of her :zhao. Lena would definitely sense if this was actual magic or just some weird tech thingy right away.
Nia snickered. “You such a goner for her.”
Normally Kara would huff or blush and deny it, but tonight was the Date. One that Kara had meticulously planned.  Explored the courting customs of all the possible cultures in America — speedreading had its uses — and Ireland, but in the end, decided to do as Lena had suggested a few days ago. Combine bits of Kara’s Kryptonian heritage with Lena’s own heritage. She had high hopes that Lena would love it, and it brought a smile to her face.
“She deserves the best, you know?” Kara sighed and kicked a stone down the sidewalk, one ear cocked for their follower. Who definitely was still tailing them.i Their heart rate had sped up, and their breathing sounded strained. Was the whole masking themselves hard to do?
“So do you.” Nia nudged Kara’s side. “You’ve worked hard to fix things between you two.”
Kara nodded. “The appointment is on Friday, you know.”
“Oh?” Nia leaned closer, her voice hushed. “That couple therapy?”
“Yeah. I don’t know what to expect. Lena hasn’t really said anything beyond the date and time.” Kara grimaced. She didn’t want to go into it blind.
Odd that their follower sounded like they were wheezing. As if running, but their footsteps still held the steady beat of a walk.
“Can’t say I’ve ever had couple therapy.” Nia tapped her chin. “But I suspect if you’re honest,  you’ll be fine. I mean, how hard can it be? Just grab a shit ton of tissues just in case.”
That did not help Kara feel better about the appointment, but she appreciated Nia trying.
She dropped her voice to a whisper. “Follower struggling to stay masked. Let’s take a short-cut. Wear them down.” Kara ducked into an alley with Nia close behind. She wove around trash bins, out the otherside, and then into a shop.
They walked down aisles, past other shoppers, and waited until their follower had also entered the shop. “I’ll exit first,” Kara whispered. “Will head this many blocks south. You go north, then we turn east for this many blocks.” She held up three fingers each time.
Nia grinned. “Got it.” She snagged a bag of treats and took it up to the register, while Kara left the store.

I don't discuss it all that often, but I have a fondness for Mario; unlike stuff like Sonic or Megaman, though, I don't think I had any coherent AU ideas ("coherent" doing a lot of heavy lifting there). Time to fix that.
The basic conceit is "another adaptation the likes of which Nintendo would never sign off on today", influenced by SMB '93 (note Mario's, Luigi's, and Daisy's outfits) with some "The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach" thrown in (Haru's presence, the basis for the Toads).
Notes below:
Mario: the hero, as per usual. Worked as a freelance plumber alongside his brother Luigi in New Donk City until circumstances brought the two and Pauline to the Mushroom Kingdom. A jovial, compassionate guy who is also way too good at combat acrobatics for someone who claims that he was "just" a plumber.
Luigi: the lancer. As shaken as he is by this sudden turn of events, Luigi is doing his best to face everything head-on; unlike Mario, he prefers outmaneuvering his enemies over fighting them directly. Boyfriend of Pauline.
Peach: the runaway royal. Peach heads to the Metro Kingdom to try and get away from her wicked aunt, Queen Lena, only to dive right back into the Mushroom Kingdom to set things right. She attempts to pass herself off as a civilian to the Mario Bros., with limited success.
Prince Haru: the other runaway royal. After failing to reel in his mother Lena, Haru tracks down Peach and accidentally blows her cover. He's a skilled diplomat, but too fragile to provide anything out on the field except buffs. Takes a shine to Mario after the plumber rescues him from Bowser's forces.
Toadette: a Mushroomian and Peach's best buddy. She joins up with the heroes not long after they arrive in the Mushroom Kingdom, helping them to navigate the place after they (sans Haru) end up on Queen Lena's "wanted" list.
Daisy: the last descendant of the long-gone Sarasaland royal family. Daisy works as an archaeologist; her findings place her in Bowser's crosshairs, though he swiftly comes to regret sending minions after a woman who can punch Koopas into next week. Infatuated with Peach.
Pauline: a down-on-her-luck singer who was rooming with the Mario Bros. Just when it seemed like things couldn't get worse, this gorilla in a jaunty tie grabs her and legs it out of the Metro Kingdom--though not to kidnap her, as it turns out. Pauline is still a bit sore about that, though.
Yoshi: a member of the self-named species; this Yoshi may or may not be one of the Yoshis that the Mario Bros. faintly recall being surrounded by as very young children. He's on the runty side and thus too small for anyone but Toadette to ride, but he helps out where he can.
--
Other stuff:
As you might've noticed, I'm not going with the canon pairings here, because I like making things harder on myself doing things different. This AU concept has Mario/Haru, Peach/Daisy, and Luigi/Pauline.
Haru's design changed a lot between OVA and AU; my main concern was figuring out a colour palette that worked. The skirt was influenced by some art of CrystalCrowned. Story-wise, Haru's no longer the prince of the Flower Kingdom (especially not when Wonder introduced its own take), nor betrothed to Peach.
Peach's mother here was a nun, Sister Hildy; the King outlived her by about ten years before succumbing to illness. The Mushroom Kingdom's weird succession laws allowed Lena to take the throne before Peach or Haru.
Yes, that's Lena from SMB '93.
I like modern Yoshi well enough, but trying to figure out how their sphere-snouts work is an exercise best left to someone else. This Yoshi is based on older artwork.

eris <3
yoo i'm really bad at making wip intros so i'ma just do this lol
eris!! my happy indulgent wip!! i'm excited so here's an aesthetic and let's gooooo
Tumblr media
what is it?
i wanted to write an unapologetically evil character, in a be very gay do much crimes sort of way, so behold-
what if someone like azula was a cousin of a noble family, grew up in a big city... and was sent to live in a small town when she was 12?
lyssa is that person, and her goal is to grow into her true potential as a leader by taking over tallia and ruling it. lol. there’s an amalgamation of reasons: seeking status, bad habits, a superiority complex, and boredom. also feeling like she's unworthy if she fails... there's a lotta shit going on in her head ngl
where is it?
so for meta reasons (i want tallia to be in the same world as my other medieval fantasy love) tallia happens to be nestled in a south american climate. not my expertise (i'm canadian baby) but i'm looking forward to it! lyssa's hometown is in a savanna near the rainforest, and she moves to the edge of the desert. big change, she ain't happy.
who is it?
lyssa ; the pov character, the source of everyone's troubles. the driving force of the tragedy. she could almost be good: she’s efficient, determined, hardworking, honest, reliable... except for the teeny tiny little fact that she very much craves power above all. azula, macbeth, or tigerclawstar coded, if you will. specifically tiger in his goldenflower era bc he did love his family but chose his ambitions over them with really terrible rationalizations
rieka ; the runaway girlfriend who could be "good" but a life without lyssa is not worth living. her devotion and love dooms her to remain at lyssa's side even as the flames consume them. has a werewolf-flavoured arc of eldest sisterdom, à la caterina algren.
jesper ; the if-oxford-existed cousin, who may have been too hasty in dogging lyssa's heels. perhaps his grandmother was right when she said his soft heart would be his greatest curse. now, his only option is to fight and lie and hurt and lie until he no longers haunts himself. songs are "bad people" (lauren aquilina) and "gold" (imagine dragons).
final words
surprise surprise i made a pinterest board
uhh yeah that's it! currently have reblogs queued up that had been on @lena-otherwips + i will try to just have casual posts as i feel like sharing stuff so yeee
if you'd like to know more feel free to ask! and if you want to be tagged and whatever let me know
tschüss ^^

Runaway
Tumblr media
Summary: When life and stress gets to you, you make a decision, whether it was a good decision or not is a different story.
You tried to get yourself better, going to all your PT sessions and even trying out Therapy, but as the days progressed, the more it felt like you were spiraling and you couldn’t keep waking Lena up with your nightmares, you could tell the lack of sleep was affecting her and her getting ready for school to start back up next month, after talking with your Therapist, you both agreed getting away would be the best option, although the way you were going to do it probably wasn’t the best idea.
One night, you waited for Lena to fall into a deep sleep, carefully pulling yourself away from her hold and going to grab the bag you had stashed away in the closet, throwing some clothes on and putting your prosthetic on as quietly as possible, you having gotten a bit better at doing so the more you practiced, grabbing the note you had already written for Lena out of your nightstand and placing it on hers “I promise I’ll be back” you whispered, placing a gentle kiss to her temple before slipping out of your shared apartment and into the dark night.
xxx
A few hours later, you found yourself on a bus to Rhode Island, you just randomly decided the other night to go there since you wanted to get away, but not too far away from your home, looking at your phone which had no messages, you having turned your location off so no one could find you until you were ready to be found again, you just… You needed time, without disrupting other peoples lives as you did so.
Once 9am hit, that’s when the messages from Lena started flooding in, you opting to turn your phone off for the time being since you couldn’t bring yourself to talk to her yet, you knew you had flooded her with worry by not finding you at home but you didn’t think she would’ve understood that you needed time to yourself.
xxx
Soon enough, you found yourself in what would be your new home for the next few weeks, New Shoreham, thanking the bus driver as you headed off and looked around the quiet town around you before heading off towards the closest hotel you could find, Old Town Inn.
Upon walking in, you noticed the quaint common room with a nice atmosphere with a fireplace and a few couches around it before you turned and approached the counter “Hello dear, how can I help you?” The nice lady behind the counter asked, looking down and seeing her nametag ‘Sammy’ “Hi… I wanted to see about staying here for a few weeks?” You asked, offering her a small smile “Of course, lets get you all set” Sammy said, typing something into her computer.
Once you were paid and given your room key, you stopped for a moment before you asked Sammy “What all is nice to do here? I kind of came here on a whim” rubbing the back of your neck awkwardly as you looked at her “Oh there’s plenty to do here, there’s a nature trail not far from here, a few beaches, some lighthouses, there’s also a farm down the road, and there’s plenty of spots to eat here, if you need a recommendation before going out, let me know!” she smiled, watching as you returned the smile before you thanked her and headed for your room.
When you got to your room, you let out a sigh as you set your bag down in the chair before you sat at the end of the bed, dropping your head into your good hand and letting yourself process what you had just done, you were basically a runaway at this point, the only thing that would ease at least a bit of Lena’s worries was leaving that note, but all that said really was that you were going away for a few weeks and that you needed time and space to process everything and that you were sorry for all the rude awakenings in the past few weeks due to your nightmares.
After a bit, you forced yourself back up and organized all your items, actually using the dresser drawers for once before setting your bathroom items in the bathroom, letting out a satisfied sigh once you accomplished that before you grabbed the things you needed like your wallet and your phone that was still off, putting your roomkey in your wallet before you headed out.
Stopping long enough to ask Sammy where the beach was before you started on your way, taking in all the sites on your way there, sure it was a small town but it was a nice change from the bustling city that was National City, there seemed to be a lot of history and a lot of ‘everyone knows everyone’ around the town, feeling a bit on edge as people glanced in your direction with curious looks.
Once you arrived at the beach, you took a deep breath of the sea air before you headed for a rocky area and claimed the most comfortable looking rock, pulling your knees up to your chest and resting your chin on your knees as you stared out at the ever expanding sea in front of you, letting yourself enjoy the silence before you relented and pulled your phone out of your pocket, turning it on.
When your phone finally processed that it was fully turned on, the messages and missed calls from Lena, your mother, and Laura came flooding in, all asking where you were and how they were worried about about you, but you couldn’t bring yourself to respond, not yet, so for the time being you placed your phone on Do Not Disturb before you pulled out your camera app and took a picture of the view in front of you, the sun was going down at the perfect angle over the water and you just had to capture its beauty before you headed back to your hotel for the night, trying to decide what to say to your friends and family about your sudden vanishing act.
