Idol! Reader who manages to go out on her own one night because she wants to know what it's like to be normal. She meets Konig who pretends to be nice and normal for her, which causes her to get drunk around him and confess that she dosent really like being so famous. So he decides he's doing her a favour by taking her with him when she passes out and keeping her locked in his room (The room covered in her merchandise and posters of her, even his bedsheets have her face on.)

Having fans is cool and all. If you want all that attention, that is. You just liked to sing and dance. One thing led to another, and you find yourself on the biggest stage in the city, singing for people who couldn't care less about the quality of your moves or the pitch of your voice. They needed your face, your body, the idea of you in a group of copy-and-paste cute girls who all wanted to be famous. You aren't the most popular in your group by any means, but you have your fair share of fans and have sold merchandise. The mere thought of someone wearing your face on their bags or having your name on their fan albums made you uneasy. Cost of fame, you think. Which is why you sort of vented to this one random guy at the coffee shop you run to. You just needed a break - from cameras, from management, from your own group members. You wanted to be a nobody for once, and so you ditched your usual makeup and hairstyle, instead opting for a plain hoodie and a cap to hide your features as much as possible. Mask, too - which is kinda the reason you even noticed the guy sitting at the same coffee shop as you. Huge, bulky, also wearing a mask. You got curious. He certainly isn't an idol, too huge and bulky to be from one of the mainstream groups, but you think he could be an action actor. You'd kill to see a dorama with him as the main character. The guy is nice, has a German accent, and just the right amount of awkwardness. It's not exactly creepy, but it's off-putting and weird a bit. You like that - makes him easier to vent into. He listens and listens and only puts his huge hand on your shoulder, squeezing just a bit. Asking how you're feeling and if you really want to be an idol. You told him - you just wanted an out, a way to become a normal person and not a slave of the label. Konig decided to grant your wish. You're not performing anymore - only for him, sometimes, when you take pity at his loser expression and just want him to stop being so clingy. He never touches you while you perform, and he always lets you go through whole dance and song routine before putting his hands on you again - so you started singing much more, taking pride in the way you went solo. If it only weren't for your stalker...but it's not like you even have that many options right now - you have to be his pretty singing bird if you really want to be safe. It's...not at all bad. You convinced him to take down the most embarrassing pieces of your merch he collected. You had to fuck him in exchange - convincing him that the real thing is much better than some dumb posters and unflattering angles on the photo cards. It's not all bad; you keep telling yourself this, so you won't go crazy every time he drags you out to sleep in his bedroom or proclaims his eternal love and adoration with his mouth between your legs. You never wanted this sort of fan worshipping, but it isn't like you can do anything about it, anyway. Maybe you just have to learn how to relax and take the life as it goes.

My favorite part of the admittedly kinda boring B-plot of s2p1 is Cole and Zane running into people the other ninja have crossed and having no clue who the fuck they are.

I love how out of the loop Cole is throughout his appearances in s1 and s2p1, actually. He doesn't know who the fuck the Empress is, or Ras, or Dorama, or Jordana. He's just Going Along With It

So, Arin and Lloyd are going to a place called the Administration. Sounds like a place that's in a big office building or something. Especially with all that paperwork (?!?!?) they have to do. Remember, kids, corporate jobs aren't for everyone. Just for people who sold their souls. Or people who need a menial job that allows them to utilize other parts of their brain while doing mindless tasks.

Yeah, they're going there. Sounds like it'll be... something.

The portal the 2 agents came thru was blue. Not unlike various portals we've seen in the past. Which means, they aren't connected to whatever created the Merge. At least, that's what I'm going with.

Heatwave is hurt, which means Wyldfyre, the Core, and Kai are stranded in the Wyldness unless they're able to heal him. Which means Dorama can catch up to them and get the Core. That's not going to be fun.

Sora and Nya have found Cole. Who seems to be a rock monster or maybe he just created a rock armor to protect himself and the 2 kids who were running away. I wonder what his connection with them is. Oh! Wait! Did he adopt them?!?! That would be the most Cole thing for him to do. Yeah, gonna say he adopted them.

He's going to totally help the girls get the Core.

Alright, I should have a quiet day tomorrow, so hopefully 2 episodes. So, until then!

Skz were preparing for their upcoming comeback. It wasn't a secret for anyone that's such a stressful and hard task, but the members always succeed in that and were getting used to it, so they were fine

Excepting for one of them, Chan

As the leader and producer of the group, he had his head in so many things, too much this time. He really wanted this comeback to be perfect, at least in terms of the music

He was trying to deal with all the stress and the pressure he was having all by himself, and honestly, he was doing pretty good so far, until one day

3racha were all on the studio, finishing the last details for their title track "Lalalala"

It was Chan's turn to record, it was all going well til one part. Chan was having some problems to find a tone for that specific line, and that was getting him so frustrated

"Hyung, do it how you think if sounds good. No pressure" Changbin, who was directing the recording, tried to comfort him

"I'm... Trying" Chan said, with a sigh of frustration with himself

"We know, hyung, but it's okay. No pressures, we have the whole day if that's necessary" Hannie said

About 20 minutes later, Chan got to find a tone that sounded... Decent for him, so he decided to keep it, he'll fix it later

3racha went back to their dorm, where they found Felix, watching a dorama with Hyunjin in the couch of the living room

"Oh, hi hyungs~ Hi Hannie~" Lix waved at the three members of 3racha, and snuggled up more on Hyunjin

"Hi Lix~" Changbin waved him back, ruffling his hair a bit and then walking towards his room

"Hey baby~" Jisung did the same as Changbin

Chan, otherwise, waved the younger in a sad mood, still thinking on what happened in the studio minutes before

Lix obviously noticed that his aussie brother wasn't feeling all good, so him, in his sunshine nature, was decided to help Chan feel better

He just had to know how

Chan walked to his room, locking it without talking much more to any of the kids

"Hyunjinnie, do you mind if I go for a second? I need to talk with Chan hyung" the freckled guy asked

"Sure Lixie, I'll pause the drama and wait for you"

"Thank youuu" Lix hugged Hyunjin a bit, walked towards Chan's room (wemissthem) and knocked on the door "Hyung?"

After a couple seconds of silence, Felix heard his hyung's voice "Come in"

Lix opened the door of Chan's room and saw Chan layed on his bed and wrapped up in his blanket, looking like he just stopped crying

"Hyung... What's wrong?" Felix asked, kneeling down next to the bed

"Nothing... It's nothing, Lix, don't worry about me" Chan smiled a bit, a fake smile of course, and Lix knew it

"Chan... Don't lie to me. There's something bothering you, tell me what it is"

Chan sighed and some tears started to run down his face as he talked "I'm... Frustrated with myself. I didn't do good enough today at the recording..."

"Awww, hyung..." The younger hugged his hyung, trying to reassure him a bit "I'm pretty sure you did your best, you always do, that's what matters"

Chan just cried in his dongsaeng's hug, knowing he could trust him

After some minutes, Chan started to calm down, and the tears stopped to fall

Lix pulled away from the hug and smiled down comfortingly at his hyung "You better?"

Chan sighed "Yeah... I think a bit... Thanks, Lix" smiled faintly at the younger

Lix patted Chan's head "That's good... Now, no more crying, alright?. Come on, let me see that smile!" Lix poked his hyung's side, causing him to shudder and let out a small giggle

"Fehelix! Don't"

"Awww, but you look so cute giggling~" started to poke Chan's sides repeatedly

Chan blushed a bit at the younger's teasing, giggling at the pokes, but not moving. He would hate to admit it, but this was exactly what he needed, and was really thankful with Felix for doing this

"I'm gonna tickle the sadness out of you, hyungie!" Lix started to wiggle his fingers on Chan's abs, knowing that was his death spot

"N-NOHOHOHOHO FEEHEHEHHEHELIX DON'T! NOHOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHERE" Chan burst into laughter and started to squirm wildly, which just got worse when Felix started to use his other hand to change between squeezing his sides and his thighs

"But you look so happy now, hyung!" Even though Felix was teasing him, and he knew he was driving Chan crazy, the younger really looked so innocent

Until he started to wreck Chan's sides

"OKAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAY FELIX FELIX YOU CAN STOP NOHOHOHOOHHOW!" Chan squealed out

"Mmmmm... I don't think I'm doing~"

Felix just kept wrecking Chan's sides and abs, making the older go crazy

"FEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHELIX! FELIX I BEHEHEHEHEHHEHEG YOUHUHUHU! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA PLEHEHEHEHHEHEASE NO MOHOHOHORE! I'LL SMILE I'LL SMIHIHIHIHIHILE! I WON'T BE SAHAHAHAHHAHAHAD I PROHOHOHOHOHOHOHOMISE!" Chan stated before his laugh went silent

Felix kept on tickling him for a couple seconds more before stopping, he didn't want to kill his hyung after all

He rubbed the older's sides, in order to ease the ghost tickles he was feeling, and hugged him again "You okay? You're not sad anymore?" The freckled boy looked up at his hyung, hoping he's feeling better

Chan was breathing hard and letting a few more giggles out, overwhelmed by the sensation yet, but it's not like he didn't like it... "I'm fine, Lix, and not sad anymore, thank you for... That" Chan replied with a big smile on his face, ruffling his dongsaeng's hair a bit

Felix smiled at his hyung and, after a couple seconds, he left his room, going back to the living room with Hyunjin, they absolutely needed to end at least that episode of the drama

Meanwhile Chan... Fell asleep pretty soon, with a happy smile and feeling warm inside. Felix really knew how to cheer him up

What a WEEK IT HAS BEEN. Double Savage savaging, The Eighth Sense ending, The Promise sucking, the Our Skyy 2 x The Eclipse trailer dropping -- I’ve been taken on an emotional whirlwind by the drama gods. (Oh, and I’ve finished my Love Sick OGMMTVC analysis, which I’ll drop tomorrow. So THAT’S been bouncing in my head. AND, I started watching Make It Right. So I’ve ALSO been spending time with MORE turnt up teenage boys. GAWD. BRACES.)

ANYWAY. ALL OF THIS CONTEXT TO SAY: when Our Dining Table drops, I drop everything and run to it, because:

1) it’s beautifully done, as ever 2) it has the pace that I’m looking for in a show 3) it has delicious food, obvi, and 4) this week, we began to get very direct insights into Yutaka’s past that help us understand who he is -- and more importantly, helps Minoru to begin understanding who Yutaka is, and 5) we really begin to see Minoru cheese out on Yutaka, which is SO cute and SO great to see visualized, as opposed to the manga, which doesn’t offer quite the same nuances.

Our Dining Table gives me all the comfort. I keep, keep, keepin’ on, keep going back to the familiar blanket of Japanese BL doramas that brought me to this Tumblr space in the first place.

So: to thoughts on Our Dining Table, episode 4, we go. 

We find out Yutaka was adopted, and made to feel incredibly uncomfortable about eating -- AND about joining in a family structure -- by the actions and behavior of his older adopted brother. We see Minoru utterly GIDDY with being able to spend time with Yutaka alone. We see Tane-kun doin’ his damn thing, being SO CUTE, OMG, I WANNA PINCH YOUR CHEEKS, CUTIE -- but also serving, of course, as a metaphor of the family that Yutaka has now been DIRECTLY INVITED to join, by dad Ueda-san himself. AND as a metaphor of the family that Yutaka had been NOT invited to join as a youngster, somewhat close to Tane-kun’s age.

Yutaka had been directly invited to join his adoptive family, also by his adoptive father. But we saw at the dining table of THAT family, how engagement and communication worked. There.... was none. At least, none coming from the parents. None at all. No correction, no discipline, no nothing. You were expected to fall into your role, eat in silence. Very patriarchal, very expected, very common. You exist, without existing, if that makes sense.

I just love comparing that paradigm to how we see the Uedas interacting, jovial and lively at the table, sitting on the floor on cushions, as opposed to stiff dining chairs, with Tane-kun laying down like an uncle after a big curry meal. (Sweet potatoes in curry, radical!) Tons of conversation, interaction, jokes, physical affection. 

I love Yutaka staring into space. I love it. I love him falling into his meditations and Minoru catching him on it. The wheels are NOT quite turning yet for Yutaka -- he’s still dealing with the trauma of his childhood.

But he’s recognizing why he’s drawn to the Uedas. I think he’s beginning to define what that warmth means to him.

That’s why I LOVED THE FLASHBACKS, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Yutaka is doing a comparative analysis of his past and present in those flashbacks. It was SO WARM AND SO CUTE. I LOVED every moment -- seeing what moments Yutaka was drawn to recalling, and how he compared them to his cold childhood. (If the show continues to hew to the manga, we’ll see how Yutaka ended up with his adoptive family, and it’ll all make sense.)

Oh, and I LOVED -- gah, my heart -- I loved how the episode ended with Minoru looking at the picture of his mother, and recognizing that his was not the only family who had gone through something. And we see in next week’s preview, that we get the story of the Uedas. 

This show. Perfectly paced. Perfectly warm. Centered on food. Centered on family. Family warmth and growth. With every episode, we see Tane-kun getting more and more close to Yutaka -- and vice versa, as Yutaka pats Tane-kun’s full belly. It’s just....

It’s just perfect family warmth for me, the thing that I love about doramas so much, so much more than anything else in a show.

I want to quickly say that if you love the food in Our Dining Table, the last food-centered dorama that Japan produced was PHENOMENAL, and directed by Koreeda Hiroyuki, called The Makanai: Cooking For the Maiko House, which is on Netflix. Many of the food shots in Our Dining Table are reminding me of the cinematography of The Makanai -- simple, sumptuous, gorgeous. 

I feel like The Makanai was one of the most important doramas to come out of Japan in recent years, and even though it’s not a BL, I think it’s really worth watching, to see how Kyoto and geisha/maiko culture still exists in the face of modern Japan. I learned a tremendous amount, and the acting was off the charts. Highly recommend if you have the time!

Sakurai Sho will be the host of "TBS Best Scene Video Festival", where the programme showcases valuable videos such as masterpiece dramas and nostalgic variety shows.

"TBS Best Scene Video Festival ~The drama that made everyone cry and the variety show that made everyone laugh~" will be broadcast on 26 December (Thursday) from 9:30-11:43 p.m. japanese time and 16:30-18:43 p.m. on Israrl time. Don't miss it! And it will be instead of the programme "The Yakai".

The programme is a year-end special that looks back at classic videos that aired on "TBS", which will celebrate 70 years of regular broadcasting next year. The host will be Sakurai Sho, who has appeared in numerous doramas and entertainment shows on ‘TBS.’ Studio guests will include young actor Kokoro Terada, tarento and blogger Anna Murashige, actor Akiyoshi Nakao, actress Natsuko Yokozawa, comedian Hitori Gekidan, and actress Wakako Shimazaki, all representing every generation.

With the proliferation of distribution platforms and the penetration of social media, many videos have become available around the world, but there are quite a few videos that remain in people's hearts without fading away. This time, we have explored the most generationally memorable videos from among the videos of "TBS" channel, which has been producing a variety of programmes over the years. We look back with studio guests. The studio guests will also talk about their favourite programmes as viewers, such as doramas that influenced them and variety shows they watched when they were younger.

Let’s talk about the Dorama/Ouran Live Action TV Series !! (Nekozawa/Renge)

You may be asking why I decided to delve into this adaptation of Ouran tonight.

Why did I? Because it is the host (no pun intended) of another important piece of Nekozawa/Renge ship content. When you don’t have much to work from in the vein of interactions, every interaction matters, but this one ESPECIALLY does, because ….

…Renge canonically finds Nekozawa attractive!

Or at least, in the world of this one adaptation. But there’s no reason to think any differently for the other versions. Anyway.

If you go to Nekozawa’s character wiki, he has a section on his relationship with Renge. Of course, it lists out their interactions in Big Brother is a Prince, and then it mentions the dorama for this one interaction. This is where i had first found out about this, years ago.

Because I’m a nerd, let’s go step-by-step in this interaction to talk about it.

1. This takes place in Renge’s debut episode, so she’s directing the Host Club here. Tamaki asks her how his performance is, and if he should create more “shadows”. I’m including this bit for scene context and also because it confirms that there is a parallel to be drawn between Renge’s fascination with adding “dark side”s to characters and Nekozawa’s general association with shadows, darkness, dark sides, etc. I thought I was reaching before, but by including Nekozawa with this setup, I think my connection now holds more weight!

2. See! Nekozawa materializes out of nowhere behind Tamaki, and Nekozawa continues the “shadows” talk. He has a creepy filter over his voice and fitting music, fully engulfed in his persona/probably liking antagonizing the frightened Tamaki. He asks Tamaki to join his dark side and Tamaki runs away.

3. Here’s where it gets interesting!! Renge approaches Nekozawa, slowly, and she almost seems curious. Nekozawa’s creepy music is still fading out and his grin is likely in part still leftover from the last interaction.

4. Her smile as she says this!! She didn’t have to say this, and it all is so out of left field. She just curiously walks right up to the guy who just materialized out of the shadows and frightened away Tamaki and says he’s good looking. What!!

5. That’s what I just said! What?? But okay, let’s analyze this. His spooooky mannerisms have completely fallen away in this moment. No music, no voice filters, no evil laugh, he has nothing except “what?” His smile has fallen but he looks intrigued, if i had to describe it. He looks surprised but not in a bad way, it seems like it’s something pleasant that has blindsided him. He’s leaned into her, looking straight into her eyes, and he is both shaken out of the persona he is so used to keeping up and intrigued all at once.

6. There’s a pause where he’s still smiling, looking at her, still leaned into each other, silent as she reaches to remove his hood. To me, i dont think he even notices she’s removing his hood until the sun beams down on him. Why? Was he distracted? :O

And when he realizes, he screams and covers his head. She looks away in fear/surprise.

7. Now that they’ve been shaken out of the moment, he’s back to his usual self. After saying this he books it out of the scene. This is 100% my biased read on this but… wouldnt it be POSSIBLE… that he’s mad not only because she removed his hood, but because she had him so off-guard in the moment that he hadn’t even noticed? Is he mad at himself for being stunned in the moment, and leaves in a huff from that?

And Renge says nothing. Renge? Nothing?? How?? Literally, Nekozawa leaves the scene and then Renge doesn’t even acknowledge what just happened. Is she just as thrown off? Who’s to say!
