Thank you, Anon! I'll answer for Rumpel/Chevalier because that man is in desperate need of love! AAAAHHHH!

Favorite thing about them: I think Chevalier is the only "flirt" archetype character that I'm really passionate about. It does take a while for that aspect of his character to be addressed in his route

Least favorite thing about them: Him calling himself "ancient" at age 24 has aged poorly since now I'm older than him and I think "dang, my self-esteem gets shot in the foot whenever I hear that line now."/lh

Favorite line: This line from early on in Rumpel's route stuck out to me because it is a show of his character (always looking out for others' well-being) but it's just plain good advice.

All you have to do is listen to people, sympathize with them, maybe get to know them, and you can make them happy by doing even small things for them.

We can't all be grand philanthropists or change the world through outstanding charity work, but everyone can still help others in smaller, simpler ways like being a listening ear. It's nice to be able to do big gestures of care but that's not always possible, but aiming for small acts of kindness is still kindness.

brOTP: Chevalier & Annice. I think it's sweet to see Chevaliar take Annice as a student (best seen in the Evermore sequel), it shows how people in-universe see the admirable qualities of Chevalier and he can take charge.

OTP: Chevalier x Klaude. Vitriolic friends to actual friends to lovers anyone? Also, the way the game's themes of honesty vs secrets and selfish vs selfless overlap with these two particularly fascinates me.

nOTP: Chevalier x Annice. They work much better their their canon friends + teacher/student dynamic.

Random headcanon: His dad was a serious flirt and his mom was super into it, kinda explaining how he is so good at flirting and why he doesn't really see the negatives of it.

Unpopular opinion: Why do people dislike him/his route so much? I suppose flirty characters are hard to make appealing to a lot of people. Maybe the harsh turn near the end threw people off? Or maybe it's the admittedly slow first half dealing with Chevalier's flirting and past relationship.

Song I associate with them: Never Getting Rid of Me from the musical Waitress has this fun and infectious energy as well as showing off a guy who persistently pursues the woman who captured his heart so I think it works for Chevalier. Not a perfect fit since the in-song reactions of Dawn (the pursued woman) are more nervous while Lucette is annoyed by Chevalier's dramatics. But hey, it's my own personal association.

Favorite picture of them: The moment when he makes Lucette laugh and the way he looks happy to have been able to do that for her (even if it was at the expense of his pride a little). They're cute together, guys!

Opening Cinderella Phenomenon Prompts

I’ve been inspired to write for Cinderella Phenomenon lately. Anyone want to send me a prompt? *hopeful eyes*

I’ll give you a drabble, probably 800-1100 words or so. I prefer to write canon pairings (but I’ll consider others on a case by case basis), or platonic relationships are good too. 

I have to be upfront -- I might not be able to fill everything. Real life is a bitch, and sometimes I just can’t get the muse to work with me no matter how hard I try. But I promise I will do my best.

how do you think will the boys (cinderella phenomenon) react if they found out that Lucette is infertile?

Yo, this took a lot of time but I love you anon. 

Karma:While he did want a child or two, he didn’t mind that Lucette couldn’tconceive. His parents (and some of the very conservative ranks in the palace)will definitely be disappointed though because heirs are important to furtherthe royal family. Karma isn’t particularly worried about this, however, as hehas full confidence that his brother, Llama will do wonderful as a future kingand will probably have brilliant children, too!

Rod:Wouldmost likely be half relieved and half disappointed. Relieved because they couldcontinue fooling around without the fear of accidental conception (which wouldbe very hard to explain since they’re step siblings) and disappointed becauseRod (no matter how hard he tries to appear cynical) wanted a family of his own.There are nights where he can’t sleep, just him staring at the canopy, thinkingabout family picnics that will never happen. He will not say a lot about thetopic but Lucette knows that deep inside, Rod is hurt.

Waltz:Notgonna lie, once or twice he fantasized about having children with Lucette. Hehad thought at least six names for them and was very excited to teach themmagic. When he got the news, he was, of course, disappointed but was moreworried on behalf of Lucette’s health. He ended up buying her a black cat(which means luck for witches) and Lucette had laughed, commented how the catreminded her of Waltz’s hair and the eyes were gold, like hers. They ended updomesticating two more cats which proved to be not only fun but also convenientbecause cats can be trained to become a witch’s familiar.

Rumpel:Asa doctor, he understands the complication and will try very hard to assure herthat it’s normal to be infertile. Rumpel likes children and will probablysuggest adoption but will not open this up until he sees that Lucette isemotionally well enough to talk about children.

Fritz:Fritzwas not really sure about this whole being-a-fatherthing anyway, so when Lucette dropped the I’m-infertilebomb, he was actually pretty neutral about it. Sure, he wanted to see miniversions of him and Lucette running around the palace but Lucette is his queen& charge so above anything else, he’d want her to be safe and healthy. Hewouldn’t push her about children and will focus more on building emotionaltrust with her instead.

'I would die for you.' Why was that sentence deemed so romantic, used as a declaration of love, when the reality about it was so terrifying?

Myth had never said these words, never indicated anything in that direction. They both hadn't known, what exactly was going on between them. Unsure, how to define it, fearing how pushing it further may change it into something suffocating.

She had never said these words either.

But during that one moment were Alcaster had managed to break free from the fight where Karma and Fritz were trying to subdue him, set in his decision to make the reason for his coup failing disappear-!

Lucette had only noticed what happened when the blood was already soaking through her clothes and Waltz was pulling her away so Rumpel could go about his work.

And now, she was damned to wait, listening to weak breaths, hoping he would wake again and not just stop breathing at some point.

Otome Birthdays List

As promised, here’s the full list of birthday days. It’s not an exhaustive list as I plan on adding more as I play more otomes in the future and as more information comes out for various games.

Just as a reminder, I go by what Wikipedia, official websites (Idea Factory International, Otomate, Aksys, etc) and creator websites and pages (dicesuki, DateNighto, etc), tell me as their canon birthdays. If I’ve got the wrong information, then I’ll do my best to update the information for future reference.

I’ve also added in protagonists’ birthdays, if it’s known (like Lucette and Avery), along with some side characters if they have a known birthday (not all side characters, however, because, as of this writing and according to Code: Realize’s wiki, Saint Germain, Guinevere, and Leonhardt all have the same birthday, and I don’t think I’m prepared to handle that many at once).

**Hakuoki birthdays, the creators have stated, are based on the real life counterpart’s birth dates. Unfortunately, since keeping records of one’s birth in Japan didn’t really start happening until about 100 years after the time Hakuoki is supposed to take place, some birth dates are lost to time and no one knows the date, which is why you don’t see Okita, Heisuke, Harada, etc on here. Characters like Kazama and the demons who were created for the story do not have canonical birthday as they are fictional and have not been given a birth date either. 

EDIT: I changed Sakamoto’s to reflect the correct date (it’s the lunisolar date (where the majority of the Hakuoki birthdays fall upon). If anyone wants me to make a separate post explaining about the lunisolar dates, I’d be more than happy to make one).

**August 17th is added as ‘Mod Day’ as that is my birthday.  I’ll be spamming with my personal favorite baes, but you are more than welcome to leave things in my inbox!

**I’m considering making another dedicated day in July, however, since Waltz is looking a little lonely there by himself. No promises, but we’ll see what’s up when July rolls around.

          once upon a time, the witches & the fairies of the kingdom of angielle lived in harmony with humans. two crystals, the lucis & the tenebrarum, kept the balance between good & evil. the lucis bearer was a fairy, the tenebrarum bearer a witch. things changed when a storyteller called hans grimm began to write the fairytales. in his stories, good always triumphed over evil – & the villains of the tales were almost exclusively witches. humans began to fear the witches & the witch hunts began. out of grief & rage, the tenebrarum bearer, a witch named hildyr, committed the act most forbidden to witches: she murdered a human.

         hildyr & her followers enacted a reign of terror in angielle. hildyr used her powers to force king genaro to marry her & kept her young daughter, lucette, locked away in the castle, teaching her to mistrust humans & close off her heart to goodness. every time lucette rebelled against her mother’s rules, hildyr erased her memories of the rebellion. she molded lucette into her perfect, obedient doll & convinced her that the only love she needed was her mother’s. she hoped that when lucette turned eighteen & inherited the tenebrarum, she would continue her mother’s evil work. for years, the great war raged, until the fairies & good witches finally defeated hildyr & her minions.

         but the end of the war did NOT bring the end of the witches’ wrath. they continued casting fairytale curses on humans, spells intended to mimic or invert the stories that began the witch hunts. witches are unable to break their own curses; the humans must break them on their own. or, when the tenebrarum bearer came of age, she could dispel the curses if she wished.

          thanks to her grooming, lucette was completely unaware of her mother’s role in the war. when the citizens of angielle treated her with contempt & fear, she chalked it up to her mother’s lessons being true: humans were fickle & could not be trusted. she was resentful, too, towards the father who spent her entire life pushing her away, & towards the stepfamily who had replaced her mother three years after her death. the crown princess was cold & unfeeling, exactly as her mother had intended her to be.

          & so, a good witch placed the fairytale curse on her. under the cinderella curse, lucette went from riches to rags overnight. nobody in the kingdom remembered her, not even her father. the curse could be broken by doing three good deeds, but it seemed an impossible task to someone who had been raised by a wicked witch.

my portrayal of lucette exists in every route. i have a verse for each (excluding rod), although my default verse will assume that lucette partnered up with waltz.

This game is a complete snore. The main actor isn’t engaging, she’s pissy, ungrateful, and generally unlikable. I think this is what makes the game seem so slow in the beginning. Her STEP SISTER is far more interesting than her and within the first 15 minutes, she only gets about 5 lines!
