There were five drones at that table, including Khan so-
I will give it to 'im, maybe they were playing two games of gin between the four while waiting for Khan to return
But it's WAY funnier to imagine a worker falsely correcting a disassembly drone seconds before being murdered

not sure how this works but
mafia front restaurant au maybe?
WIP Wednesday (4/24) | Mafia Front Restaurant AU (Part 145)
During his next turn, Neil puts down a card all by its lonesome and Andrew stabs his finger at it. “What is that?”
“I’m playing my eight off yours.” Neil says, gesturing to Andrew’s half of the table.
“You didn’t mention that in the demonstration. Cheater, cheater.”
“It slipped my mind.” Neil says. Then he moves his cards around and puts down a couple of jacks with a two. “By the way, twos are wild. Count as anything.”
“You are very good at withholding useful information.” Andrew mutters. He’d just put that two down a second ago and Neil snatched it up like it was a brick of gold.
“The FBI thought the same, I’m sure.” Neil says. Then he bites the inside of his cheek.
“FBI? What ever could they want with this family-friendly restaurant?”
“That was before the restaurant actually. And it doesn’t matter.”
“Hm. How rude to mention something so interesting and drop it.” Andrew luckily draws a two and plays it between a jack and a king. Now there’s only one card left in his hand. “Uno?”
Neil laughs. “Not quite. Throw it down and the hand is over.”
“What then?”
“We count our points. Don’t worry about it. I’ll do it for you.”
“No, thanks. I don’t trust you.” Andrew says, making Neil laugh.
“Smart.”
“How do I count them?”
“It’s five points for everything between two and ten. Ten points for tens and royalty. Wild twos are what they’re played as. You take what’s left in your hand off of what’s on the table and that’s your score.” Neil explains in a flurry that almost has Andrew’s head spinning. But he twists it back into place and soaks it all in.
“What about aces?” Andrew asks, since Neil left them out of the lineup.
Neil huffs out a breath. “They’re fifteen points each.”
“Like pulling teeth.” Andrew tuts. But he counts up his points quickly, then Neil’s. “Oh, I’m winning. How about that?”

ive been wistfully thinking about making some kind of kaiji koi-koi fic bc im kinda insane about koi-koi in a way im not for any other games (and the way you'd need to be to make a vaguely fukumoto-typical game) but ive been stuck on the fact that like,, games where you form hands are really hard to keep track of in text-only formats. the flow is either super bogged down by constantly listing them or people get lost bc you cannot communicate that information quickly and simply like you can with visuals (a reflection that's helped me appreciate gambling manga as a concept a bit better) (this is also harder with koi-koi specifically bc there aren't number designations, so no 1-pin or 3 of hearts, which might make things a little easier to follow) BUT i also didn't want to draw potentially hundreds of pages of fan comic about this. but talking to nyarla i realized i can just.. put images in an ao3 post. i can show the hands visually every turn if ppl need a reference quickly and easily without having to think about panelling and flow and drawing hands and shit. anyway we might be so back you guys im so happy

The kids poke fun at Steve for not “getting” D&D, think he’s just not built for the math and memory aspects of the game. Turns out he and Robin are playing bridge with her parents every Friday night after dinner and he’s a total card shark, taking tricks left and right. The Buckleys love him - he’s competitive but sweet, considerate and sharp. Sometimes Steve and Robin’s mom Patty team up and win, and she sneaks him an extra piece of cake after the dishes are washed. After Steve leaves, promising to pick Robin up the next morning for work, her parents wax poetic about how much they love Robin’s “boyfriend.”

The Evolution of RPGs: Trick-Taking Games
The earliest and widest-spread card games are all trick-taking games, in which each player receives a private "hand" of cards, lays one of them on the table, and then whoever laid the highest-value card "takes the trick", collecting some amount of points (or money, in gambling versions) based on which cards were laid down. But the quirk is that we have record of the games existing and being banned long before we have any record of how they are played. The first rules descriptions don't appear anywhere until the 1400s, roughly 400 years after the invention of the first card game. By that time, the games have evolved fairly complex rules. Even the oldest ones often feature melding, where after receiving their initial hand of cards, players can score bonus points by showing sets of cards with matching suits, values, or a run of sequential values – mechanics that would evolve into totally new genres like rummy and poker before the end of that same century. European games frequently involve choosing a "trump" suit which can defeat even higher-value cards from the other suits – and then later develop specialized tarot-style decks that feature a permanent fifth trump suit for this purpose. When I planned this post, I wanted to feature a "simple" trick-taking game that I could orient as the precursor to our next game, Reversis (which has none of these elaborate extra mechanics). After being unable to identify any such game over the last few days of research, my new conjecture is that Reversis was probably actually a result of streamlining – paring down the rules of a byzantine precursor to create something more elegant.

Learn How To Play Rummy
Playing rummy is simple, easy and a lot of fun! The objective of Rummy is to win - by forming sequences and sets with the thirteen cards you are dealt and making a valid declaration before your opponents. As per the rummy rules, at least one pure sequence needs to be made along with another impure sequence and sets. An invalid declaration makes you immediately lose the match. So, it’s crucial that you know the basic rules of rummy and the different rummy terms that are associated with it.
Here are some of the basic rules of Indian rummy that you must know:
As per Indian Rummy rules, the game is played between 2 to 6 players with one or two standard decks of cards (depending on the players at the table) along with the printed Joker cards.
Thirteen cards are dealt to each player at the start of the game. The remaining cards are kept face down on the table (closed deck) with the top card placed face up (this becomes the discard pile/open deck).
One random card from the deck is selected as the Wild Joker. All cards of that same face value can also be used as Wild Jokers.
Players pick one card from the closed or open deck and discard one card to the discard pile.
According to the rummy rules, players need to arrange all the cards in their hand to form at least one pure sequence and other valid sequences/sets.
Once a player has at least one pure sequence and other valid sequence/sets by grouping their 13 cards, they need to make a declaration.
The first player to make a valid declaration wins the game! Click here to learn how to play Rummy.
