I’ve talked about it before, but it’s so sad/frustrating how Jean Valjean is the kind of person who will like…. buy Cosette presents “to take her mind off things” instead of talking to her openly. He doesn’t try to help Cosette understand as much as he tries to “bring her back to happiness” by giving her gifts.
She’s upset over seeing the chain gang, and instead of answering her questions he takes her to a great fun festival the next day to keep her mind off it.
She’s upset over his behavior in the end of the book, and his response is to dodge her questions and interrupt to encourage her to buy fun little fripperies and pieces of furniture:
“It is cold here. One cannot see distinctly. It is abominable, that it is, to wish to be Monsieur Jean! I will not have you say ‘you’ to me.”
“Just now, as I was coming hither,” replied Jean Valjean, “I saw a piece of furniture in the Rue Saint Louis. It was at a cabinet-maker’s. If I were a pretty woman, I would treat myself to that bit of furniture. A very neat toilet table in the reigning style. What you call rosewood, I think. It is inlaid. The mirror is quite large. There are drawers. It is pretty.”
Cosette sincerely wants to know about these darker more tragic aspects of the world and her own life, but Jean Valjean keeps showering her with all these gifts that represent shallow bourgeois respectability instead, not understanding that they don’t actually make her happy.
It’s just
“Can we talk about why you’ve stopped callling yourself my father and seem to no longer be eating? I’m worried that you’re in a bad state and are hurting yourself.”
“Let’s not talk about that—what if you bought a magnificent table instead? :3 wouldn’t that make you happier?”

Are they a night owl, or morning bird?
What’s a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?
Do they have any hobbies?
Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprise?
Do they like to wear jewelery?
Do they have neat or messy handwriting?
What are the two emotions they feel the most?
Do they have a favourite fabric?
What kind of accent do they have?
handing you the questions here to make life easier, i'll answer for rue under the cut :3

What common/uncommon fear do they have?
fear of being abandoned. (she's just like me frrrr). pre-tadpole rue forms very strong attachments (see: her father. gortash.) and after being left alone many times before in her youth, she really struggles with the idea of being tossed aside
post-tadpole rue has a big fear of forgetting everything again. she's made lovely memories and writes down everything she does in extreme detail in case she ever wakes up without them again
Do they have any pet peeves?
people being too loud. she gets really bad headaches and will yell at people if they are being loud for no reason
What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?
1. the current book she is reading
2. a warm jumper in case she gets cold
3. her diary
What do they notice first in a person?
their eyes. easy to work out how they're feeling and useful to exploit later on
On a scale from 1-10, how high is their pain tolerance?
10. i like to think there's been many times while travelling that rue has definitely broken an arm and she doesn't realise it until it starts bruising up (and then she reluctantly goes to shadowheart and asks her to fix it)
Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?
fight. when in doubt, fight your way out! her go to tactic in game is to intimidate others to get what she wants but if that doesnt work? start a fight. physical or verbal, doesnt matter
Do they come from a big family/are they a family person?
rue doesnt remember her upbringing but she had two foster siblings (both older than her!) she's very much a found family person. has a lot of issues with herself and the thought of being a mother, but happily adopts arabella and yenna (as well as the tiefling children from the grove) along their travels. i like to think yenna visits rue and gale in waterdeep as she gets older.
What animal represents them best?
cat. despite her being dog coded, she is a cat character to me. likes her space, a little nervous, gets the zoomies
What is a smell they dislike?
one of gortash's perfumes. it was thick and rich and had a horrible musky scent to it that kept making her sneeze. so he changes to the nicer, milder vanilla and rosewood :3
Have they broken any bones?
yes. turning into the slayer requires a lot of bones to crack to allow room for growth.
How would a stranger likely describe them?
off-putting. weird. quiet.
Are they a night owl, or morning bird?
night owl!! rue does NOT like mornings. pre tadpole she will sleep in until noon if the world lets her. post tadpole she is a napper. gale comes home from work and finds her napping in the living room with the evening sun on her
What’s a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?
hate: anything overly sour.
love: salty things (adds extra salt to gale's food and he has a heart attack)
Do they have any hobbies?
too many!! post game rue has a lot of hobbies she picks up to keep the Dark Thoughts At Bay. she loves gardening, pottery and embroidery the most!!
their home in waterdeep is covered in things rue has made. hanging up in the living room above the fireplace is a painting of tara rue did that she absolutely hates but gale adores. he frames it and his mother has asked for one as well.
Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprise?
she cries (of happiness). i like to think the first year after the absolute crisis is over, gale plans a big surprise party and everyone's there. rue comes home from getting groceries, sees all her friends in her home and just bursts into tears.
Do they like to wear jewelery?
yes! she loves earrings (changes the little swords gortash gave her as a gift a few years after his death, but keeps them tucked away as a little reminder of him) now she has little star ones that she adores! (a gift from morena)
Do they have neat or messy handwriting?
MESSY!!!!! she's just like me fr!! pre & post tadpole, that girl has such bad handwriting! sometimes she cant read it herself :')
What are the two emotions they feel the most?
love and guilt.
Do they have a favourite fabric?
she loooves a good velvet. warm and fancy and reminds her a bit of gortash
silk, too. again, reminds her of gortash.
What kind of accent do they have?
she's tav 4 in game, so i guess a little posh? i think ive described her voice as "sophisticated" before. soft and gentle spoken which adds to the creepiness of the horrible things she says :)
this was so fun!!! i love yapping about rue. girlie lives in my head rent free :) please help me get her out!!
#; tag game#oc ; rue#bg3#the dark urge#i love her so much#my little baby#my sweet girl#also spoke abt her during the game & after bc i feel like we know her pre-tadpole well enough

Cosette is a joy! Just imagine how much better the life could have been if only Cosette's men took her seriously, if they explained the problem to her. For her, unlike Marius, Valjean is a human being and her father, regardless of his past. But no—one is overwhelmed by self-loathing and self-destruction, the other by class prejudices. Poor Cosette must be utterly confused by this radical change in her father’s behaviour. Of course, he had his peculiarities before, but this is too much, especially when the cause of these changes is unknown: he refuses to kiss and embrace her, addresses her ‘vous,’ insists on been called ‘Monsieur Jean,’ stating that Cosette doesn’t need a father. All of this must have hurt Cosette deeply. No wonder she starts questioning her happiness: “Are you angry with me because I am happy?” And this is the only thing that shook Valjean and made him react momentarily as a loving father.
Valjean’s quest to slowly self-destruction begins: “Jean Valjean was fatigued. For days he had neither eaten nor slept.”
And this passage—something Valjean says—makes me giggle, despite the sad context: “I saw a piece of furniture in the Rue Saint Louis. It was at a cabinet-maker’s. If I were a pretty woman, I would treat myself to that bit of furniture. A very neat toilet table in the reigning style. What you call rosewood, I think. It is inlaid. The mirror is quite large. There are drawers. It is pretty.” Of course, you would treat yourself to this! We already know about Valjean’s strange taste in furniture and design from the way he decorated Cosette’s room and the whole house on the Rue de l’Homme Armé. And it’s so queer!

Oooo..... finally get to share something about my pretty trans fem Fell Sans Neue OC 🥺 I love her so much y'all have no idea, she's so pretty & cool (& I want to date her.....) And her brother, Rosewood, is so beyond adorable I love him!!! Carnation AKA Carnage (the wolf) & Rosewood AKA Rue (the bull). I also have ideas about their AU, Swap&Fell Pink aka SwapFellTale; part Underfell, part Underswap, but not exactly a SwapFell nor FellSwap. Plus it's a little bit fairytale themed? I don't entirely have ideas about all of yet, since kind of my first real AU? But I do have ideas for some characters in the AU (like Alphys & Undyne) :D

Chakras: Signs You Have An Imbalanced Sacral Chakra
The second chakra, svadhishthana otherwise known as the sacral chakra is the energy centre that governs our fertility, sexuality, pleasure and creativity. It is situated approximately one to two inches below the belly button. When this chakra is imbalanced, it can cause numerous issues within the physical body as well as in the energetic body, and this is what I am going to talk about today. In this post, I will be listing physical and emotional symptoms of an under active sacral chakra and an overactive sacral chakra. I am also going to include crystals, herbs, yoga poses and specific foods to help get it back into balance again.
The Sacral Chakra - Signs you have an imbalance

Essential Oils Master list ❤
When using oils please dilute them. I can not stress this enough. Using oils without diluting them can burn the skin and cause irritation. Great thing to dilute the oils in are: olive oil, coconut oil, and almond oil. Remember to keep your oils correctly. Hot areas can lead to the spoiling of the oils so please keep them in dark, cold places as to keep them in the best condition possible. Also if you have any health conditions or allergies please do some extra research to see which oils are safe for you to use. I hope this guide helps you out! Paris, Indoors and Outdoors: Thérèse Bonney
Photographs by Thérèse Bonney.
This photographer’s work is related to objects and themes in the exhibition The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s, now on view through August 20, 2017.
Born in upstate New York, Thérèse Bonney (1897-1978), was a photojournalist whose work reflected a wide variety of interests and subjects. She studied at the University of California at Berkeley and Radcliffe College in the 1910s. Bonney immigrated to France in 1919 where she became one of the first ten women to graduate from the Sorbonne and founded the first American illustrated press service in Europe, the Bonney Service, in 1924. She established another career as a wartime photographer in the field during WWII. Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Library’s collection of 4,000 Therese Bonney photographs, 1925-1937 documents her personal observation of the life of Paris in the 1920s and 30’s. The subjects of her photographs ranged from individual objects to interior settings to window displays to major building complexes and focused on the impact of modernism on European design. As see here, the interior of a department store, jewelry, a desk set, and mannequins in a store window featured the designs of popular institutions and new and innovative designers.
L: France, (n.d) lock. White stone lock displayed on rosewood by Michel Dufet, (1888-1985), designer, at the Salon d’Automne.R; France, ca. 1925. Rose Valois dressmaker’s shop, 18, rue Royale, Paris. Plated-metal door pulls in shape of elephant heads. Billard and Callet, interior decorators.
L: Paris, France, 1925-30. “L’Escargot d’Or.” Golden Snail insignia, advertising that the establishment or shop offers escargot. (snails). R: France, 1927. Joël and Jan Martel house, 10, rue Mallet-Stevens, Neuilly (today Paris). Mirror sculpture and fireplace by Joël and Jan Martel (both 1896-1966), sculptors.
Bonney captured images of decorative arts and architecture that are an important visual documentation of little-photographed and now nonexistent subjects and structures from this Art Deco time period in France. Some examples of the diversity of her interests include the interiors of the homes of artists and designers, ceramics and glassware, barbershops, furniture, tapestry, lighting, gardens—the list goes on and on. Drawing from her life in Paris and experience with decorative arts she wrote with her sister Louise Buying antique and modern furniture in Paris. Bonney’s WWII experiences and photographs are chronicled in Europe’s children, 1939 to 1943. Thérèse Bonney was a woman on the forefront of history—in design, architecture and life in Paris of the 20’s and 30’s, and later in the battlefields.

Czapek launches the Quai des Bergues Rosewood S and Rosewood Diamonds, two iterations of its signature guilloché Ricochet dial in a distinctive new hue and with exquisite baguette-cut diamonds indexes.
The Dubai Watch Week, the most important fine watchmaking salon in the Middle East, is the perfect stage to present in avant-première the latest additions to Czapek Quai des Bergues collection. The two new references have in common a unique and unusual engine-turned dial in a “rosewood” colour, a demonstration of Czapek’s continuous exploration of the endless possibilities of this fine watchmaking technique in collaboration with its partner Metalem – one of the best guilloche makers in the industry, based in Le Locle, Switzerland.
Once more, Czapek challenged the artisans at Metalem to come up with an innovative, genderless hue for the brand’s signature engine-turned dial. “The result – explains Xavier de Roquemaurel, CEO of Czapek & Cie – was this deep, natural-looking colour that invokes wide-open desert spaces, with a reddish cast that changes with the sunrays… Something hard to define from raspberry to carmine, a fascinating new electroplated colour”.
While the Quai des Bergues Rosewood is conceived as a genderless piece, with is 38.5mm steel case, the Rosewood Diamonds in white gold winks at ladies that look for a fine watchmaking timepiece, with a sophisticated design and a discrete touch of sparkle. Nine shimmering baguette-cut diamonds have been set on the dial after an extremely complicated cutting process.
Both watches are equipped with the Quai des Bergues range’s Czapek SHX1 proprietary calibre, a 7-days hand-wound movement with two spring barrels and a power reserve of 168 hours (7 days). Developed in collaboration with Chronode, the movement is finely decorated with open ratchets, blued screws, bevelled edges and sand-blasted bridges. “Our approach to watchmaking for women is close to the one that was at the origins of watchmaking – continues Xavier de Roquemaurel – We like to play with proportions, size and some feminine details, but we above all like to propose women ‘haute horlogerie’ mechanical products”.
The Quai des Bergues Rosewood and Rosewood Diamonds – also offered with brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel as a customisable option – will be presented at the Dubai Watch Week from November 20th to November 24th, 2019. They will be available on sale in Czapek official retailers, in the flagship boutique in Geneva, rue de la Corraterie 18, and on Czapek.com.
