I totally agree. I think, if she does go off into the story for a bit, just for things to be simpler and be almost like a daydream to live in for a bit after the trauma, fine. But if it's a storybook world where everything is always perfect, especially now that the prince is back, I'd imagine Rue would get very bored, and despite not wanting to think about her memories back if Gold Crown Town, they would come flooding bad to her. And I hope she would find that amidst the bad, there were some really good memories (with Duck of course but also in general learning to dance and having something new happen every day). She would feel stagnant and I hope she would grow enough to realize that yes, her sole source of love doesn't have to be just Mytho as OP put it.

Maybe she would find a way to go back now that she's finally ready to fight her own personal demons, but also to put herself out there into a world not governed by a fairy tale narrative or any narrative anymore. So she can go make her own narrative.

A short messy ramble on why Rue's ending makes me heartbreak

Heads up I'm sick with a cold atm and very anxious with current events so most of what's below is very much a word barf.

Okay, rue's ending is something that always felt very bittersweet to me. We know she was a human girl the raven took away at a young age so her disappearing into the story feels odd. Compared to Fakir and Duck who agree to let the story end. Rue goes with Mytho. I don't think she was ready to step out of the framework of the "fairytale princess". She's young, still hurting, and needs to heal. So I can't say I don't see how running off to a simpler world isn't appealing. Staying in Gold Crown Town would mean digging up a lot of old wounds.

Rue never lets the story end, just letting the finale/happy ending play on a loop. I wish she stayed behind got the world she was taken from a new light. Make new relationships on her own not seeing her sole source of love being dependent on the prince. The prince who she's been told since she was little loves everyone and, thus is the only person she thinks can love her. She still ends the story thinking way, that she has nowhere else to go to be happy but the story.

A story where she knows she's the only "real" person. Mytho is still someone Drosselmyer created. Even in the ending slides where sees many characters living their lives she just performs the wedding pas de deux with mytho and they freeze in place. The story can't continue, it will be frozen in one spot without a writer. It felt like a very stagnant ending for her and Mytho. They've grown so much, so going to World Drosselmyer created seems sad in a way.

I love the nuance that is being put into this series. Especially rick understanding the flaws of the original books and fixing it in the show?! the nuances that are being added and the themes are also amazing like what??? it's giving more food for thought and it's adapted to the cultural context of 2023 AND IT'S GENIUS.

clarisse's actress is beautiful and while i do wish she was butch or more masc presenting, in some ways i actually like this better for her overall characterization because it brings more validity to the fact that she desperately wants her fathers love but she is not her father's son and so she'll never be enough for him, because she's not big and strong looking or gruff, she is everything she hates.

Like yes, im sorta sad she wasn't cast plus size and masc like how she was coded in the books. But having her be the antithesis of what Ares would value makes her being a bully and so angry and so desperate to prove herself that much more compelling

You pour two warm cups of cloudy sloe ale—one for you and one for Price. You're the only one who feigns enough interest to sip it.

Price laces his hands together and leans forward. "I didn't come for blood."

None of them did, apparently. You curl your hands around your tin cup. He wasn't supposed to come at all. He visits when the moon is full. That was the deal. "I understand that."

Price’s gaze flicks to a bit of drying blood on your hand, and you feel his displeasure at the sight. "Then you also understand my irritation when I learn I've been kept in the dark."

"About what?"

"A number of disturbing reports from the townsfolk."

"Hm." Tension rolls through your muscles before you force them to soften. "I wasn't aware you spent time in the village. Do you visit often?"

Price doesn't like your coyness. His voice loses some of its politeness. "The villagers have become too savvy. They forge protective charms. They invoke holy names. They line the thresholds of their homes with salt and rue." He leans forward. "Now, how would they know to do that?"

You swallow delicately around the lump in your throat. "Old folk tales, I imagine."

"Folk tales?" He chuckles. "They're not paying protection money to cupboard sprites. Old tales don't teach them how to bless trees and cut the lumber into cradles."

"Then I wouldn't know. The villagers don't speak to me on principle."

"Then you have no knowledge of this? You’ve accepted no coin from them in exchange for your talents?”

"You know I'm banned from trading in the village market. The guards would take my head off the moment they caught me inside the walls."

“Maybe so. But there are other ways of propagating information, aren’t there?” Price leans back, arms crossed. “Rumors spread.”

You scoff to sound braver than you are. "They've puzzled out how to keep you away from their daughters. It has nothing to do with me."

Price's blue eyes flicker. "We’ve been quite careful with our food source. Gone out of our way to be discreet. They shouldn't suspect us of being in the area, let alone come up with protections against our kind."

You tilt your head in a stiff shrug. "Maybe Soap let one get away."

"Soap is brash. Not sloppy." Steel creeps into his voice. "He's more likely to bite his tongue off than spill our secrets."

You go to sip your ale again, but Price's fingers latch around your wrist as you raise it.

"Careful with that." His grip tightens as he forces your hand back down to the table. "You'll inebriate yourself if you're careless."

You slowly release the mug. After a long beat, he releases your wrist.

He doesn't say anything else, but you can't meet his eyes. The cold metal of his rings still burns against your skin.

He studies you in silence. The dry glint in his eye tells you he doesn't need to pry for what you're hiding from him. He knows already. But a deal is a deal, and you're under his protection. "Regardless of the reason, our feeding options are suddenly limited. If you insist on keeping my boys half-starved, we'll travel outside our territory to offset your stinginess."

"Fine. We’ll suspend our contract."

"Certainly not."

Your jaw sets. "A temporary suspension of our terms would serve all parties' needs well enough, would it not? You seek your fill elsewhere."

"I will seek it where my needs are most pressing."

"I don't have the means to leave my hut. I assure you I'll keep to myself until you get back."

Price smiles, and your heart sinks. "Another witch might. You?” He hums. “Besides, you know how they get when they're deprived."

You’re hyperaware of Ghost's shadow falling over you. His rough hands cover the back of your chair. It creaks in his grip. You squelch the instinct to cover your blind spot and, fisting one in your skirt under the table to steady your nerves, keep your back to him. You also ignore the gleam of two other sets of eyes behind Price, hovering in the pitch-blackness of your kitchen.

“That’s kind of you,” you say finally, “but there’s no need to be overprotective.”

Price stands. He pours the last sip of your ale out onto the soft dirt floor. You hadn’t even seen him pick it up. "We'll come for you tomorrow night, witch. You'll travel with us."

Your head spins. No, no, this isn't how it was supposed to go. You covered your tracks. You planned perfectly. He can't just uproot you—can't just kidnap you like this.

"No, I—" You stand before you realize it. All four shapeshifters turn back to glance at you. Price looms halfway out the front door. You steady yourself with a white-knuckled grip on the table. "I'm not leaving my home."

Price takes in the defiant look on your face and the tense, brittle set of your body. "No? Hmmm." He rubs his beard. "We're in a tight spot, then. Ghost, what do you think?"

The scars on Ghost's tight scowl gleam in the candlelight. "I think she owes us a meal, and we expect to eat. One way or the other."

Gaz scoffs. "There’s a proper solution."

Soap grins. "We could just take her, you know. Suspend the contract and make her come with us."  His eyes light up. "We could have a lot of fun on the road."

"Not if there's a fight," Gaz says, eyeing you. "She can make real trouble if she wants to."

"No' if she knows what's good for her."

"That's enough," Price says. He looks back at you. "Lads are in a mood. They've been feeding from the villages as a stop gap, and they're not nearly full. Their tempers are short, their stomachs are growling, and they have energy to burn. You understand?” His gaze steadies on your neck. “We'll be back tomorrow night. You'd better be ready to go or else ready to give them a full meal."

Soap’s grin sharpens. The implication is obvious. Payment is payment. If you don't give them what they want, they'll take it by other means.

They turn to go. Ghost is the last to step over your threshold. "Blood won't be enough," he says. Then he's off, a black dog bounding into the night.

percy jackson expresses all the love he cannot put into words through his meaningful kisses. they are so so soft yet full of such intense emotions that they leave you breathless once he pulls away. no matter what, he always kisses you like it´s the last time he´ll taste your lips ―and every single time, your heart throbs and pounds as if it were the first time you kissed.

grover underwood is shy and meek in how he kisses you. he starts brushing his lips over yours before pressing an actual kiss to your lips. he kisses you like you´re glass ―as if you might disappear any moment. he cradles your face with such gentleness it makes your heart swell for the sweet boy and his equally sweet kisses.

luke castellans kisses are slow and sensual with the distinct mischief only a son of hermes could sport. he´s a sucker for casual make-outs, addicted to the feeling of his tongue lazily dancing with your own. he takes all the time in the world, not in any particular rush to withdraw from you, at least, not until your lungs burn for air and you´re left dizzy and lightheaded afterward.

annabeth chase kisses you as if your lips were a puzzle she couldn´t figure out. she´s deliberate and calculated, wanting to do everything correctly. it´s not until you urge her to loosen up that she immerses herself in the taste that is you. "c´mon ´beth, kiss me like you mean it" she tucks away every single sound you make and every small squirm to the back of her brain, wanting to memorize everything, because you´re an all-consuming drug she can´t get enough of.

clarisse la rue is all passion and fire. she´s aggressive and rough, her kisses full of clashing teeth and bitten lips. she loves the exhilaration of kissing you with a burning hunger that leaves you shaky and gasping for air. she always pulls away with a smug grin that leaves you weak to your knees, because she knows the effect she has on you, and she knows you´ll be begging for more. and who is she to deny her lover a few more kisses?

the world: when has one of your character's dreams come true?

one of rue's biggest wishes is to live a normal life. getting tadpoled & amnesia is probably the best thing that happened to her and allowed her to finally break free from the chains that prevented her from just being rue.

post game she settles down with gale in waterdeep and gets to live a normal, boring, unassuming life. she wakes up and they eat breakfast together and she kisses him before he goes to work and she'll spend her day reading or making pottery pieces or joining tara and morena in their little catch up sessions and she ends the day with gale in her arms and nothing can ever take that away from her!!

rue gets to be herself and despite the fact she's still plagued with grief and night terrors and flashes of a past she doesnt recognized, she's happier now than she was ever before

Okay Burrow's End had me thinking some thoughts... So here are my favorite Dimension 20 moments that rotate like a rotisserie chicken in my brain (in no particular order other than the order I thought if them).

- Riz goes into the butthole of the Corn Ooze Monster (Fantasy High). The first absolutely insane shenanigans move anyone makes on D20, setting the tone the show will have forever.

- Raphaniel kills Queen Pamelia (Ravening War). I think I saw Brennan's soul leave his body briefly when he got that How Do You Want To Do This from Matt. Time was an absolute flat circle that day.

- Hank convinces Brennan to let him role savvy instead of sneak (Mentopolis). Hank is one of the most famous content creators, having him on the show was phenomenal to begin with. Then right out of the gate, he pulls this move in his first episode. And it just works. Hilarious, instantly iconic.

- Jet Dies (A Crown of Candy). When Lapin dies, it is shocking but I wasn't attached to him as a character. Lapin was a bit antagonistic and his death happens early in the season. On the other hand, Jet is instantly likeable. Emily and Siobhan are amazing as siblings, their performances this campaign are some of my favorites. I have siblings and I am very close to them, so this hit me like a ton of bricks.

- The entire epilogue of Burrow's End. "Are you pitching and Air Bud ending?" is one of the instant hall of fame quotes from this show. I started crying I was laughing so hard.

- Ylfa's bottleneck and the TPK (Neverafter). There are so many close calls for total party kills in Dimension 20 history, but this is where it finally happens and it's only 3 episodes in. I was on edge, expecting another TPK at any turn, for the rest of the campaign.

- 3 nat one initiative rolls for the battle that literally opens the season (A Starstruck Odyssey). The beginning of a new season is always full of excitement. This season was extra special, having everyone back in the dome after the pandemic and the season being based off Brennan's Mom's comics. The zoom energy is still in the air and I still think about this season opener a lot.

- Mother Timothy Goose breaks Snow White's concentration with a cantrip (Neverafter). Only Ally Beardsley could and we all damn well know it. Still didn't stop me from being so far in disbelief that all I could do is laugh.

- Hob's "You will never know another lonely day" speech to Rue (A Court of Fey and Flowers). I will still cry about this if I think about it for too long. Rue and Hob's romance is the heart of this season to me. I won't be over it ever.

- Gertrude convinces Nyruth to give the Questing Queens very powerful boons after the Queens tried to rob them only a few hours earlier (Dungeons and Drag Queens). The fact that this season exists drives a level of serotonin into my brain that is unimaginable. This is the definition of a big swing and when Bob rolls well, Brennan has no other choice than to honor it. This is one of the moments I have made a meme of. I cannot wait for season 2.

- Wuuvy shows up to the duel and she did not come to play (A Court of Fey and Flowers). Aabria has talked about how Wuuvy is one of her favorite NPCs and I feel the same. Wuuvy and Rue's relationship has such a great arc and this moment is so pivotal.

- Fabian's no good very bad day (Fantasy High Sophomore Year). An iconic moment in D20 history that was truly wild to watch live. For everything to go so fantastically bad for Fabian and Lou was unprecedented. There is a reason why people still talk about this moment to this day.

- Amathar survives being pushed off the castle (A Crown of Candy). Brennan tried to kill Lou so many times in this campaign. I really thought Brennan had gotten him with this one, my stomach sunk. But Lou pulls it out and Amathar lives once again.

- Pib plays "Smoke on the Water" (Neverafter). "I stepped out to play 'Smoke on the Water' " is also a hall of fame quote to me. This list could be all Pib moments if I'm being honest, he's my favorite Zac character. And the fact that Zac doesn't roll well makes this moment funnier to me.

- Buddy Bear gets planted with the All Blossom (Dungeons and Drag Queens). Jujubee and Brennan owe me a therapy session for this one. I sobbed. My cat is my baby and I will be ruined the day she leaves me, so I get it. I really do.

- "Eat your dice, Brennan" (Fantasy High Sophomore Year). A great bit made physically possible by Siobhan. I hope Siobhan gives him gummy dice or something like that so that Brennan can continue to eat his dice for Junior Year.

- Orange Top Hat Fairy (Neverafter). It's a horror season and the cast is doing bits about how hot a mini is the entire finale and the Adventuring Party that followed. I felt the stress and off the walls energy through the screen. The Smooth Criminal pin was the first piece of Dimension 20 merch I bought.

- Viola's epic takedown of Phoebe (Burrow's End). Watching Rashawn absolutely crush it her first time in the dome was amazing. I loved Viola from the jump, her arc was so satisfying and fun to watch. Also the idea of a tiny stoat kicking a gun just the right way to get it to fire is hilarious. No notes other than please have Rashawn come back on every season she possibly can.

- Evan Kelmp warns the Rosemont student not to duel him (Misfits and Magic). Brennan's deadpan warning matched with the reactions of the other players and Aabria really make this scene. An underrated Brennan moment for sure.

- Stacey Fakename turns out to be real (Mentopolis). This was such a good reoccurring bit, so to have Stacey be real at the end of the story was too funny. In a season of bits, tropes, and puns - this one has the most payoff to me and is definitely my favorite.
