I love how the Doctor told Ruby that she changed him and he's grown, only for it to instantly be shown otherwise. A blonde telling him she loves him only for him to turn, unable to express his actual feelings to anyone. He's come all this way, but in a second he's right back where he was nearly 20 years ago.

i often think about his elementary school teacher being the first demon/person he recognized before his prom date and his friend + they had so many teachers so this one mustve had a big impact on him and also like. sickening to think about them already following around sam as a child to "keep him on the right path"

Dean’s back from Hell. He’s… acting a little odd, a little “kooky,” as Bobby says. But that’s to be expected when a guy comes back from the dead and crawls his way out of his own grave, right?

Especially since the thing that saved him swallowed him whole in the process. 

This is Lazarus Rising but told a little to the left.

I was one of the lucky people who got to watch that particular episode completely blind. I remember the growing feeling of dread as Bobby, Sam, and Dean try to figure out what brought Dean back to life. This fic makes me experience that again, but multiplied by one hundred— even upon reread.

This fic is told through multiple POVs: the gas station owner as he watches video footage of Dean’s return, Ruby, Sam, and Bobby. We watch Dean’s strange behaviour through them. The use of outsider POVs is very effective as, while the events are familiar to us as they follow the plot of the episode, the new perspective allows the author to really lean into the horror of everything that happens. If this story was told through Dean’s eyes, this fic would be completely different. By the end of the fic, the reader is on the edge of their seat waiting for Cas to arrive.

"Everything will be alright"

You smile at your best friend as you hold Ai's hand into your own, waiting for the doctor to come and prepare for her ultrasound.

Ai Hoshino has been your best friend since she got into B-Komachi, both of you built your successes side by side.

You are the only one Ai considers her family.

"If the baby is a girl, I will name her after you" the purple-haired girl announces.

"Really? I think you should give her a unique name" you point out.

"No, I want to have a little baby to call her my own (Y/n)" you chuckle nervously.

Don't get it wrong,  you love Ai,  but she is a bit of a possessive friend.

Maybe it is the fact that she kind of scared off your past friends and told you that they don't deserve you.

But she couldn't chase away one friend, Hikaru Kamiki,  your childhood friend and also the father of her babies.

But, that's all in the past.

"What if it's a boy?" you inquire.

"You should name him" Your eyes widen in shock at her words.

"Well, if it is a boy,  and he has blue eyes... Maybe you could name him Aquamarine"

"You do know that I'm going to give birth to twins?"

Before you could say anything, the doctor enters alongside the nurse.

The dark-haired man's eyes widened upon seeing you as if it was a dream come true.

"This is Doctor Gorou Amemiya, he's my doctor until I give birth"

You bow your head in greeting.

"Thank you for taking care of my friend"

Gorou nods at you, after snapping out of his dazed state.

You are his favorite idol, he has watched every performance of you, and he even sent you anonymous gifts.

And now you are here with his second favorite idol.

"We shall start the ultrasound"

Gorou states calmly, trying to not fan after meeting you.

You stare down at the ultrasound pictures Ai gave you of her unborn triplets.

It was a surprise that there is a third baby.

It seems like the little one was hiding all along.

While walking home,  you don't notice the man following behind you.

Until you get pulled into an alleyway,  and deeply stabbed in your stomach.

Your eyes stare at the man, tears falling down your face.

"Why?" you ask, as blood starts escaping your mouth.

"You shouldn't have rejected him, now you got your punishment"

With that, you are left to die alone in the alleyway.

Only have two last thoughts on your mind.

That Hikaru has betrayed you.

And

You wouldn't be by Ai's side in her hard time.

Little do you that you will...

... get reborn as her daughter.

you had initially planned to spend a quiet day with your girlfriend, not doing anything special and just grabbing some food, but ruby had other plans!

it's not like she doesn't want to fulfill your wish of a quiet day with your girlfriend! but ruby believes it would do you good to have a party with all of your friends, to be reminded how many people in your life care about you!

of course, ruby gets help from her team for the surprise party! yang is the first to get roped into the planning, with weiss and blake following soon after!

though it's ruby who makes all the decisions! the others are just there to help with the set up and buying the food, but ruby refuses to let anyone but herself plan the party!

when your birthday finally comes around, you plan to pick up your girlfriend at her room and head to a restaurant together, only to suddenly walk into your own surprise party!

you're a bit startled at first, but what shocks you even more is how many people there are! it's not just ruby and the other girls but all the people you met at beacon and during your journey!

you already know there'll be too many to talk at length with, but you'll try your hardest to talk to all of your guests!

meanwhile ruby doesn't mind stepping aside for a day, as seeing you with all your friends makes her so happy! she isn't the only one who loves you so much, as evident by the countless people waiting to celebrate your special day!

No but the last time Ruby yelled at Weiss like that was back during initiation, the two of them have grown so much together but their partnership has obviously been on the fritz since V7, like when did the synchrony of V6 fade and get to this.

Ruby knows Weiss, knows she can be a little snippy and in V9 Weiss has- the come on's and people are counting on us hurry up etc etc. But but it's Ruby and Weiss yeah?

Weiss didn't notice that her words were weighing on Ruby bit by bit and Ruby has noticed Weiss' grief over Atlas but can't find the words to help her.

They mean so much to each other but they'll never blame each other and they won't talk about it either cause they have to be strong for each other and they're stuck in an endless loop of I'll pretend to be fine for you and you pretend to be fine for me while silently trying to reach out but always falling short before anything meaningful can come out of it and this was never going to last, it was never going to work, they've been walking towards the ledge for months now and Ruby finally had to jump.
