'Andrew Scott, mother Nora has passed away after a sudden illness just before Mother's Day.
The sad news was shared by the family, stating that Nora died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin on March 7th.
The obituary read: "It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Nora Scott (nee Boyle), beloved wife of Jim, mother of Sarah, Andrew and Hannah."
"Scott, Sandymount, Dublin, formerly Omagh Co. Tyrone, March 7th 2024 peacefully surrounded by her loving family and best friend Anne, in St Vincent's Hospital following a sudden illness. Nora will be deeply missed by her beloved husband Jim, her loving children Sarah, Andrew and Hannah."
Andrew has not yet made any public comments about his mum's passing. Nora had previously shared a heartwarming story about receiving a bouquet of roses from actor Anthony Hopkins six years ago when she told him she was ill. She met him on the set of King Lear, where Andrew was playing Edgar, reports the Irish Mirror.
Recalling the sweet gesture on RTE, she said: "There was probably more than three dozen red roses and attached to them was a little card from Anthony saying 'Be well, sending hugs', and all sorts of things."
"I was thrilled to get such a gift and for the kind thought that promoted it. Now I have recovered, I can enjoy these exquisite roses that grace our hall. It was such a beautiful gift."
Just two months ago, Andrew and his All of Us Strangers co-star Paul Mescal said they didn't really want their parents to watch the movie.
In the film, we see Mescal and Scott's characters getting very close, and both actors said it would be super awkward to watch with their families because of the steamy scenes. "I don't want to be there when my parents watch it! " Andrew shared with TV star Graham Norton.
Andrew had some deep thoughts about the film, saying: "I think for so many people, particularly queer people, you can feel like a stranger in your own family. Even if they haven't directly rejected you, you just feel slightly different... [But] discomfort within a family and love within a family can coexist. It's pretty common."'

The War Within Decades : Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The Palestinian militant group Hamas recently launched an assault on Israel on Saturday, October 7, 2023, with hundreds of gunmen shooting near the Gaza Strip. Based on BBC News, at least 1,300 Israelis have been killed, while some of civilians including children was held in Gaza as hostages, and it also has been said that more than 1,300 Palestinians have also been killed in numerous air strikes on Gaza that Israel's military is carrying out in response, and Israel has imposed a total blockade on the territory, denying some essentials too for Israeli.
The conflict existed long before the current war began. Jewish people once resided in what is now Israel and Palestine as members of the two kingdoms of Israel and Judah, according to RTE News. Jews refer to it as their old ancestral for this reason. But during the following 1,000 years, Jews were driven from the area and sent into exile as a result of numerous conquests and wars. Theodor Herzl, a Jewish journalist and political activist, wrote their Judenstaat in 1896, thousands of years later. Persecution and anti-Semitism were projected.
However, Jews declared the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, propelled by the rise in Jewish immigration following World War II. Palestinians numbering over 700,000 were either driven out or fled in terror. They lost their land, houses, and way of life. But then, just 22% of what was British controlled Palestine was still outside the borders of Israel after two years of conflict in 1949. The West Bank and Gaza Strip are made up of that 22%.
Until Israel's soldiers invaded and conquered Gaza and the West Bank during the Six-Day War in 1967, those internationally recognized borders remained in place. And that is precisely why it is known as the Occupied West Bank and why many nations, including Ireland, advocate for a return to the borders that existed prior to 1967. Israel has launched military raids and increased Jewish settlements in the West Bank despite these appeals, particularly in regions that are regarded as having biblical significance.
Under Israel's current far-right and ultra-nationalist administration, that has significantly gotten worse. Tensions have also increased as a result of Israeli incursions on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam. Furthermore, there is no longer any consensus or there's no longer any agreement about what that would mean among Palestinians as to what the so-called two-state solution, which many now support, actually entails. A land, air, and sea siege by Israel has resulted in appalling living conditions for 2 million Palestinians in Gaza since 2005.
Currently, Gaza Strip is ruled by the militant Islamic group Hamas, which also opposes Israel's right to exist and is in favor of driving out all Jews from the region. And after heavily armed Hamas militants entered the area and massacred over 260 people, thousands of attendees of the Israel-based Supernova Music Festival left. Supernova Music Festival is an event gathering of people from all over the world that stood for unity. One of the first locations Palestinian gunmen struck on October 7, 2023, after breaching the border fence dividing Gaza, was the Supernova Music Festival.
Dor Kafach, a victim of the attack, provided a description of how the Israeli Supernova event was attacked by Hamas. He described the terrifying event in Israel to James Longman of ABC News, describing how he saw his friends "falling" and "RPGs flying" behind him as he ran for safety. Based on www.TheGuardian.com, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly admitted that Israel and Palestine were at war and that Palestine will suffer the consequences, according to The Guardian.com.
Israel had some benefits as the conflict between the two nations rages on. In the Middle East, Israel and Palestine share the territory west of the Jordan River. While the majority-Jewish State is Israel, the majority-Muslim and Arab populations of Gaza and the West Bank are Palestinian. Israel boasts one of the most advanced armies in the world, complete with a nuclear arsenal. Palestinians, on the other hand, don't have a lot of means of self-defense because they don't have a true state or standing army. However, it appears that these two nations genuinely care about their heritage and national pride.
Supernova music festival is really widely known for inspiring unity and love, tolerance and inclusion. This festival was an event representing unity and had people from all over the world. No other genre of music has the effect does, Not even close. The fact the starting point of war happened at an event like that is absolutely tragic as it would be in any scenario but the memories that should be fun, turned into the worst time of people in there. Peace will always be more than the absence of war, let’s always look for a positive solution and always remember the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “I appeal for cessation of hostilities, not because you are too exhausted to fight, but because war is bad in essence.”

David Dushman, the last surviving soldier who took part in the liberation of the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz in 1945, has died at the age of 98. Dushman, a Red Army soldier who later became an international fencer, died yesterday, said the International Olympic Committee in a brief statement. On 27 January 1945, he used his T-34 Soviet tank to mow down the electric fence of Auschwitz in Nazi-occupied Poland, helping to set prisoners in the death camp free. "We hardly knew anything about Auschwitz," he said, recounting that day in an interview in 2015 with Sueddeutsche daily. But he saw "skeletons everywhere". "They staggered out of the barracks, sat and lay among the dead. Terrible. We threw them all our canned food and immediately went on to hunt down the fascists," he said. Only after the end of the war did he learn about the scale of the atrocities in the camp. Of the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust, more than one million were murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau, most in its notorious gas chambers, along with tens of thousands of others including homosexuals, Roma and Soviet prisoners of war. Along with Branagh, singer-songwriter Eleanor McEvoy will perform her 1993 hit 'Only A Woman's Heart'.
Belfast director Kennett Branagh is set to be a guest on RTE's The Late Late Show tomorrow night ahead of the film's theatrical release.
Also joining host Ryan Tubridy are Kathryn Thomas from Operation Transformation and FIFA Consultant Lisa Fallon, while the musical highlight will be provided by Eleanor McEvoy, who will perform her maga-hit 'A Woman's Heart'.
Branagh will be joining the programme from London to discuss the personal connection he has to the new film. Belfast is already receiving praise from critics and was the only Irish winner at this year's Golden Globes. The semi-autobiographical film made a showing at the awards with six nominations and one win for Best Screenplay.
The film will land in Irish cinemas tomorrow night (January 21). Check out an extract from Branagh's upcoming interview with Hot Press - set to appear in our January 27th issue - where the acclaimed director speaks about Van Morrison's unique addition to the film, here.
Fellow RTE presenter Kathryn Thomas, and the leaders on Operation Transformation, will be on to discuss refocusing on health in the new year and the team's plans for 2022. The programme started back on January 5th and will continue on for eight weeks, but has attracted concerns from the public over its potential triggers for those suffering with eating disorders.
Lisa Fallon, former head coach with Galway United Football Club and current high-performance consultant with FIFA, will discuss rising to the top of the football business, as a woman in a male-dominated field. Fallon will also discuss how a serious assault guided her world view from a young age.
For music, Eleanor McEvoy will be performing her 1993 hit, 'Only a Woman's Heart'. The song inspired a globe-spanning phenomenon, with the A Woman's Heart album, featuring the cream of Irish women performers at the time, going on to sell over a million copies world-wide and ranking as the best-selling album ever in Ireland.
The Irish singer-songwriter is sitting on an impressive discography that is 16 albums deep.
Listen to 'Only a Woman's Heart' below.

Thurs 27 June 🏳️🌈
I'm sorry but when the biggest line item of the day that I have for y'all is "Louis spotted waiting in line for toilet" I have to question The Point (and also the VIP section accommodations damn wtf.) But. Here we are. Louis is still at Glastonbury, wearing shorts today (pardon me, jorts) and hopefully having a gay old time. Meanwhile, an article was published about Three Six Zero's one year old music label arm that mentions it having operations out of both LA and London and lists Louis as a client. Louis is known to be a US client of the 360 management firm but is he going to be managed by them in the UK as well? Will he be on the music label? Would this mean Syco was out of the picture? The article itself/Louis' presence in it tells us nothing, but this new information about the label is raising hopes high, here on the cusp of the new quarter... Come July 1 we will see, or we won't.
Niall unpinned the tweet about the RTE Orchestra recording from his page, fans freaked that it was because something new was coming, Niall jumped straight in to laugh at them and shut that right down. Another fan- god we're so annoying huh? Niall- LOL! Mean (tho really not unwarranted.) Then he relaxed and watched some football.
Meanwhile, Liam knocked out some more brand ambassador obligations by modeling some sunglasses but more importantly it's a really cute happy pup Liam pic! Nice.
#ah business- I'll presumably have gotten this wrong as usual check back in a few hours for corrections 🤦🏻♀️#okay no one has said a thing HEY I'M GETTING BETTER AT THIS#Louis Tomlinson#Niall Horan#Niall#Liam#Louis#meanwhile Liam!#a first#waiting in line for the long drops#aka porta potties#I'm really appalled I'VE been in better VIP sections and I'm a dirtbag#360#27 June 19#Glastonbury#hugo#Syco

In 2016, I was interviewed by Paul O’ Flynn, RTE’s sports correspondent. He was very interested in learning about how blind golf works. The interview was broadcast on RTE’s Six One News that week. I was delighted to take part and share my knowledge and experience of blind golf. The interview took place out on the course at Elmgreen Golf Club. I was so proud to have the opportunity to do this interview.
Prior to this, I played in the US Blind Golf Open. It was my first time to play away from home. My first ever to compete in an International Blind Golf tournament representing Irish Blind Golf. This was a brilliant experience for me and I really enjoyed my time in the States. The event took place at the Haven Golf Club, Arizona and was organised by U.S. Blind Golf. This was a 3-day event, a practice round and 2 strokeplay rounds. I never played the course before making this unfamiliar territory and an added challenge.
I was so excited on the morning of the 1st round because it was a big competition for me. Breakfast wasn’t enjoyed in the usual manner due to the nerves. We made our way to the golf course which was a short stroll away from the hotel. I started my warm up with a bit of chipping and putting to loosen the muscles. Some bunker practice followed before moving onto my irons. I finished my warm up by hitting a few drivers. When I came to hit my driver, I got a massive shock, on my 2nd drive the shaft snapped. The head of my driver flew out onto the range. Panic started to set in as it was less than twenty minutes to my tee time. My dad, Pat, who guides for me rushed to the pro shop. Pat to the rescue!!!
I played a successful round in the end. I shot a 95 Gross which was good for my handicap. I was lying in the top five after day one. On my second day, the pro shop secured another shaft for my driver and I was delighted to use my own driver in the second round. This helped me massively in shooting a 90 Gross, a better score than the previous day. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as I lost out by 3 shots. I finished second overall and was delighted with that as my goal was to finish inside the top ten.
When we arrived back at Dublin Airport. Family and friends along with some journalists who published articles about the event greeted us. This is where Paul learned about what I do.
Paul was brilliant with his time when he met with me at Elmgreen. He filmed us taking putts and playing the first hole. A huge part of this was to explain how a guide sets a visually impaired person up to hit the ball. Paul was impressed with how I hit the ball. Elmgreen were also great, as they made sure it all went smoothly and had the course in pristine condition. During the interview, I talked about how the US Blind Golf Open had gone and how much I love the game. We also discussed upcoming tournaments for the year.

Ireland v Australia Rugby
Andy Farrell is set to name his Ireland team to face Australia this weekend as his side look to end the year with another victory.
The Dublin clash will be Ireland’s final match of 2022 and their last fixture before the start of the Six Nations in February.
Johnny Sexton will captain the side for the Wallabies clash after declaring himself fit. There were fears that the fly-half would miss the game after he suffered a dead leg early in the second half during Ireland’s stirring victory against South Africa a week and a half ago.
But the Leinster star has reassured Ireland fans that he is “ready to go” against Australia.
Ireland will be looking to add to their Autumn International wins against world champions South Africa and Fiji on Saturday (8pm kick-off), while Australia is expected to up their game after recent defeats to France and Italy, as well as a narrow victory over Scotland.
Australia head coach bullish
Dave Rennie insists Australia “know the enemy” but are not playing the underdogs tag this week as they prepare for Saturday night’s big clash with Ireland.
Rennie has named close to a full-strength side for the Autumn series showdown at the Aviva Stadium, where the hosts are hoping to equal a record 12th successive home win that was set during Joe Schmidt’s reign.
But the Wallabies head coach started the week on the back foot after facing a barrage of criticism for the display against Italy in Florence, with the Azzurri beating Australia for the first time.
That came on the back of the Wallabies coming within two minutes of beating France in Paris, and Rennie has reverted back to the core of that line-up, with 10 changes made from last week.
Ireland are favorites heading into this one and Rennie said: “I think everyone likes being an underdog, but we haven’t used that term.
“We know we’re playing an outstanding side and we’re going to have to be at our best.
“We’ve had a massive focus on us. You can show a lot of footage of how good they are but I’m not sure that’s going to help us.
“So, we know the enemy, but it’s important that we’re really clear on the type of game we need to play to try and put them under pressure.”
Ireland team to play Australia on Saturday: H Keenan; M Hansen, G Ringrose, S McCloskey, J O’Brien; J Sexton (capt), J Gibson-Park; A Porter, D Sheehan, T Furlong; T Beirne, J Ryan; P O’Mahony, J van der Flier, C Doris.
Reps: R Herring, C Healy, F Bealham, J McCarthy, J Conan, C Casey, J Crowley, B Aki.
