Martin Küchen & Landæus Trio ~ The pity of it all

Även andra albumet där Martin Küchen & Landæus Trio samarbetar resulterar i ett Record Store Day-släpp på Moserobie-etiketten. Albumtiteln denna gång är The pity of it all, och består av två låtar på varje sida. Albumet startar med titelspåret där Küchens saxofon tillsammans med Mathias Landæus piano, Johnny Åmans bas och Chris Montgomerys trummor bildar en finstämd väv. Därefter följer Martha: sökande saxofon, mörka toner från Åmans stråke, stundtals mullrande, stundtals porlande piano, samt snubblande, lätt jagande trummor gör att det känns som att Martha är ute i en kylig mörk granskog där markens stenar täcks av mörkgrön mossa … Samtidigt kan detta mycket väl vara en snegling mot Friedrich von Flotows opera/balett med samma namn från 1847, då jag finner stämningen stundtals likartad. Vinylens andra sida börjar med Today is better than tomorrow. Den startar som en skön lågmäld pianotriojazzlåt där Küchen efter en stund kommer insmygande, och spelar … helt ”normalt” på saxofonen (vilket är i det närmaste unikt för just detta samarbetet). Och det låter magiskt … Det är här, på detta spår, jag än en gång på allvar börjar fundera på att byta ut min vinylspelare till en som automatiskt återstartar sig vid skivans slut. För precis som på förra albumet, Four lamentations and one wicked dream of innocence, vill jag kunna ligga länge, länge i min soffa och låta fantasin sväva iväg med ljudvågorna. Albumet avslutas med den något stökigare och lätt funky 11 13 47. Här ilar, likt insekter, många små ljud ut ur ena högtalaren för att kvickt försvinna in i den andra och gömma sig innan jag riktigt hinner uppfatta vad det var. The pity of it all är att The pity of it all bara släpps i 300 exemplar.
