David Farr's #TwelfthNight where the shipwrecked siblings swam onto the stage 🌊

✨ This production was staged alongside #TheComedyofErrors and #TheTempest. The pool was drained after every Twelfth Night performance and then disguised with black cloth and debris for the other two shows.

I saw 'Twelfth Night' at the RSC with my parents yesterday and it was so good! I don't know the play that well, but all of the performances were top-notch and Samuel West was amazing. I was in the seats next to the aisle where the actors come in so he walked past me a few times 😅 The production was really enjoyable to watch and I can't commend it enough!

What was your first experience of Shakespeare?

I don't know if this was my first experience, but it really chimed with me. Growing up, I saw a lot of plays but when I was about 16, I saw Filter’s version of Twelfth Night at the Tricycle Theatre (now the Kiln). In the party scene, before Malvolio comes in, they handed out pizza to the audience and set up a huge game with those fuzzy balls that you throw and catch onto a disc. It was a raucous affair, a frivolous moment of fun that meant when Malvolio came in to stop the fun, we all felt completely chastised, because we were part of the action. Something really clicked for me – I was forced to engage with it in a different way and I felt the wrath of Malvolio coming in and shaking us all up.

I feel like I’ve been looking forward to this since time began, it’s been so long since it was booked.

I cannot wait. The perfect perk for mid-January - getting to go and see a Shakespeare play in Stratford, starring Sam West, with a group of my favourite people.
