What was your earliest Rayman memory? Mine was during the early 2000s where my old friend brought a copy of Rayman Advanced a GBA port of Rayman 1 and I was hooked.

Never beat it tho then I randomly saw Rayman 2 and got into that. Never had a chance to play Rayman 3 but I had a PS2 demo disk of it that I played nonstop

I don't really know which one was more early but I could remember that I used to play Rayman Raving Rabbids GBA and Rayman Advance - the former being more recognized for me while I basically gave up on the latter. I did gave Advance a second try in recent years but then gave up again because... well, it's a Rayman 1 port and the DS was not in the best condition due to age. There was also Rayman 3 which I never got to finished, probably because the disc was scratched up from what I can recall.

I don't remember how old I was specifically but I was pretty young at the time when I first played them. There's also Legends + Origins I played and those were the only Rayman games I've completely played through normally.

(also, I know this is unrelated but: Advance is my least favorite of the Rayman games I've played bc, separating from the fact that it's a Rayman 1 port with its difficulty, it's the "oversaturation" and the soundtrack that sounds worst than nails on chalkboard is what made me dislike it. I'm not gonna bash it because it is a GBA port after all but I'm just saying.)

This poll is giving me problems because I have literally nothing to vote for here or even put in the tags really. A lot of the options here are focused on the handheld games.

As someone who didn't own a console until the Switch, apart from the PC-releases the handheld games were a large portion of how I got to experience the franchise in the first place (and on that note, I'm surprised "Rayman Hoodlums Revenge" is here (which is an original spin-off game in its own right instead of a watered down main-title + as someone who was tied to the Handhelds the Isometric Semi-3D was THE SHIT to experience. Kid-Me was SO hyped about this game) but "Rayman 3 GBA" which is a HOT MESS that I hold dear to my heart regardless is NOT)

Yes, the Handheld Games are "thinned down" versions of what the games could have been (or well... 'were' to most other people), but for the longest time they were the only way I was at all able to GET to play those games, so any other installment came to feel like an upgrade later on, instead of "man I know a version that's way better than this, what a disappointment."

Perspective matters.

The only Rayman game I've ever owned and then actively resold was one of the Rabbids Games for DS (I think one of the TV party games) that I found on Sale for like 5 € and was like "okay, come on, let's give them a chance, maybe this isn't so ba- okay, no, kthxbye." but you can't technically call this a Rayman game even since this was around the time when the Rabbids began to branch out with their own brand.

/edit: I guess if I were to put anything in the tags then (I have a post now, so I might as well put it here), I suppose it's Rayman Adventures, which is frigging _pretty to look at_, but unplayable amidst the slew of "WATCH THIS COMMERCIAL", "We have a Community Hub, but it's BROKEN" "this Game works with external controllers, no wait it doesn't actually" and the levels getting repetitive and stale after only a couple of hours of playtime. I can respect the AESTHETICS of this game. The Loading Screens and Design and whatnot are gorgeous. I just didn't have fun with it.

Can't put any more options sadly, but I was also going to put Rayman 2 PS1 (I know a lot of people dislike it but I legit like it 🥲) and Rayman 2 DS.

the whole point of it is i try to reference as many textures from rayman game as possible lmao (for the blocks that is, the mobs are more straight forward references such as the killer bunny being a rabbid)

Well I know there’s some dedicated fans who are using the leaked source code to remake Rayman Raving Rabbids back to its original concept. I’m excited to see how they fit it all together when they finish it.

this is THE rayman design for me. when i draw him i always go for his rayman 3 design. he's just FLAWLESS. the ideal male body or whatever they say. he truly is the character ever... god bless the people that worked on his redesign!! because it's SO good!!!

you mention raving rabbids, and that's ALSO a really good one!! essentially it's really just his r3 design but "softened" up a bit. he's a little less edgy. that's ok. i can respect that. he's very cute!!! love him.

(also, side note, but holy moly, this promotional render is SO raw. the goddamn BLOOD on the walls??? him having crossed off a rabbid on the plunger gun for every kill????? i might need to take back what i said about being less edgy oh my goodness HAH.)

oh, oh, and i gotta mention his origins design, because even if it's a bit too goofy to be the "definitive" rayman design for me, it's still one i love a LOT!

To the left: His prototype version for the Rayman 4 early version that would be somewhat used in the GBA version for RRR, but without that spider-machine and his left eye has a eye patch. To the right his Wii version without the Pink fur

He is machine Rabbid you meet in the Rayman Raving Rabbids version for Wii and GBA! Let us start with his first entry:

He appeared in Rayman Raving Rabbids first on GBA, where the sad Origin Story is mentioned. You encouter him on your escape from the Rabbid's hideout, the Dark World, which is unsuprisingly the final world you visit, a dark and gloomy undergroud, serving as their home after they were driven out from the Glade of Dreams due to bullying!

Before you could free Ly the fairie, you meet him as your first boss, he summons a Giant Mecha Anti-Toon (does this sound familiar?) and let it loose on Rayman, who defeats it, afterwards he smashes his control device and Rayman runs away...thus we never see Pink ever again!!!

In Rayman Raving Rabbids you have to fight him some times in the arena in all the Plunger shooter games, where he creates a barrier that makes him immune to Damage, safe for his own rockets he throws at you. You see, he is actually very timid and mute, he can only say "Hey Mate, what's up" by launching heat-seeking missiles at you...which he does constantly, so he always says to you "Hay Mate, What's up" repeatedly...he needs professional help...

What do you think of him? Could he join our crew and help the heroes against any of Cursa's evil? What would Edge think of him, namely that he like Sergeui also worked for the Rabbids Army back then and what would the other Rabbids think of this fellow? Would Beep-0 and Jeanie help him to speak more sentence rather than his uniquely pronounced sentence? Well Kanya would get jelly for obvious reasons and Momma might help him, he is after all a Machine...

So should we accept him or not? Rayman might be on board, given that he loves Rabbids now and can settle old grudges...he after all beat Pink in the arena, so if he went rogue, he knows how to deal with him!

I hope he is a good guy and will help us dealing with evil forces from on now!!!

I have heard of this guy before yes. as for being friend or foe. I kinda have some mixed emotions with that.

personally i do see him as a villain since, well he is in the Rayman games. but there could be a silver lining to that.

this could be my lack of knowledge for Rayman talking, but if Pink is meant to be a slightly sentient robot. then it's possible to reprogram him into joining the crew. and since he's able to summon mecha's that are similar to Kanya's mecha's, maybe taking down Cursa would be slightly easier.

i'm pretty sure everyone would be pretty confused at first since they've never really met a robot of their race before, because they were never part of the Rabbid army. even wondering who created this little guy in the first place.

obviously Momma would be the one to tinker with Pink's currents, maybe even giving him some new upgrade's while she's at it.

if Beep-O and Jeanie do teach him to talk, i like to imagine that he would sound like either Kaos from Skylander's or Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel

and i don't think Kanya would be jealous. considering she failed twice to kill the heroes, she need's more improvement's on her mecha's, and Pink is the perfect being to go to in order from said improvement's to happen. she would defiantly try to take him and have him help her work on her mecha's.

and as for Rayman, that's going to be complicated. Rayman would not trust this guy since there were times were he almost killed him. it's going to be a long process for Rayman to trust Pink. considering that he's actually starting to understand the Rabbids mores when he realized that not all Rabbids were bad.

......but since Pink is a robot.......

i do think Pink could be considered a friend, but you know a lot more about him than i do. so i'll leave that up to you.

Rayman was my imaginary friend(??)

When I was in kindergarten-2nd grade I used to like hallucinate seeing rayman A LOT especially during class, and he would just to one side to another messing with stuff in my classes, or like one time i remember him just looking at me and waving, it was more of a hallucination then imaginary so Idk what to call it, hallucinary friend???? (is that even a word??? 😭) He just did literally whatever he wanted and stuff, and It was specifically Rayman from Rayman Raving Rabbids or Rayman from Rayman Hoodlum Havoc. I got really upset when people couldnt see him and towards 2nd grade I thought of him as like a "Secret friend" or something??

Hey Bramble, how is the Fiancé arc doing? Well I suppose? I wanna ask you a question that I did sorta asked you, but not as directly as I should have: Do you think that the Rayman DLC will bring back Sergeuï from the first Rabbids game ever into this?

He was sort of like the main antagonist of that game who led the mission to capture Rayman and his friends and acts as his prison guard, who initially was brutal towards him, but ends up warming to Rayman a bit more and more over the course of that game, to the point where Rayman became a celebrity with unmatched glory and popularity.

He would make for a quite intimidating boss (or great ally for that matter) as he is an experienced fighter if the Manual is to go by and would scare the bejesus out of our cast (and the enemies as well)... I bet Rabbid Mario would faint seeing him. He looks super scary in comparison to most Rabbids, where even Cursa's own creations look pretty cute in comparison.

Would such a character enrich the M + R universe with his presence or is he just a relic of ages past, kinda like Rayman?

What do you think of this and by extension his character? Here is the wikipage where Sergeuï is described in detail and here is a music track composed by him nonetheless, it's called fittingly with his Nickname: The Butcher Deejay. That should be remixed and repurposed as battle theme with him on the battlefield.

Also, I got your request for this guy and he's up very soon on my list of things to draw :D

I did play Raving Rabbids but I barely remember it, and ironically I didn't remember this guy at all on my own, but several people have brought him up when talking to me about the rabbids and their past and future. It seems he's pretty popular and many people would like him to make a return, so I could see it happening! He's definitely got such a unique look that still stands out today, even when we've been getting so many off-the-wall rabbid designs lately. Having shaggy black fur, the freaky mask/face.... he's definitely got that goth/creepy look that would have a timeless appeal to certain people (me included lol). His design hearkens back overall to when the rabbids were meant to be edgier, weird and somewhat scary, since as you pointed out, even the enemy rabbids these days tend to be quite lovable-looking.

Until I revisit RRR myself, if I ever do, I feel like I can't really give too strong of an opinion on him, but I do think it would be fun if they brought back some specific characters that Rayman's had an antagonistic or at least complicated relationship with in the past. So I'm all for it- I'd love to see how the M+R team interprets him, especially if we'd be able to understand him now! According to the manual, he has a "strong sense of repartee" so I'd hope he lives up to that!
