like i'm sorry but we as a fandom have to stay firm on our anti-AI values. we cannot suddenly start giving AI a pass when it's something we "want to see" like destiel kisses. it's not suddenly fine. we're not going to start using AI to make fanfic scenes come to life or audio AI to make characters "say" stuff we want to hear. you have GOT to be firm on your anti-AI stance. if you start making exceptions then suddenly anything will fly. fandom is for real art and creations made by real people. no AI fanfics. no AI art. no AI rendered "bonus" scenes. no AI audio. none of it has a place here.

the thing is, sitting with your legs curled up underneath you is so so comfy. until it's not. and your feet and legs are numb and cramping. and this happens every time
#preferred way to sit#also because sometimes that just gives added height on small chairs/high tables#comfort zone between neurotypical snd living the small life

this is a controversial opinion and I’m not a gamer but I don’t need my graphics to be that good. I don’t need to see every individual feather on a bird. my poor computer doesn’t deserve to carry that weight either.

Little Chats
Rating: G Genre: Hurt/Comfort, Fluff Characters: Gorrik and the Commander Words: ~ 1,000 Summary: Gorrik spirals in captivity but talking to an unconscious Commander helps. (The Commander's Race/Class/Gender is not specified) Timeline: Occurs during “Old Friends” (End of Dragons Story, Chapter 1), Gorrik's Prison Journal
AN below the cut.
I am not quite as happy with this one as I am with the others, but I suppose it's fine.
I think a big chunk of it is the forced vagueness surrounding the Commander feeling a bit clunky. I've been pondering trying a 2nd Person perspective at some point, but this is not the right story for that since "You" are basically out of it for the entire duration.
Reading Gorrik's Prison Journal will never not make me emotional.

Gorrik and Blish Headcanons (based on LWS4)
What better way to start my gw2 rambling with than some observations and ramblings about the first time we get to meet these two?
The following may contain spoilers for “The First City” “A Bug in the System” + minor mention of “Long live the Lich”
Hypothesis 1: The Inquest capitalized on the bits from the research they brought in from Fahranur. Observations:
According to records only one Sample was salvaged.
In the container (1) Joko is holding it looks like 3 white spheres (eggsacks?)
Mentions of the scarab plague are redacted in reports
Tests on live specimen are being actively run as the player gets involved
Hypothesis 2: Gorrik and Blish are more tolerated refugees from Fahranur than they are recognized as Crewe in Rata Primus.
Hypothesis 2.1: Gorrik (and likely Blish) appear to LIVE secluded in their basement lab. There is a BED there. And dirty Laundry. And Food that would last a single Asura (+ his bugs) for at LEAST a week.
Hypothesis 2.2: That giant Scarab Hologram is probably the core reason they decided to give Gorrik the Holosmith Class :') Observations:
Fun fact: This actively goes against the way I remember this instance from my first time playing because by just reading their dialogues + the circumstance of the invasion, it always felt like they had been chased down there and then corralled. This evidence is in direct opposition to that assumption.
Hypothesis 3: Gorrik is more at odds with the Rata Primus Crewe than Blish.
Blish is not “flying under the radar because of his Golem body, he's the one actively credited/cited in the source Taimi found.
Gorrik himself doesn't show up in the records at all, or only as an unnamed (reluctant!) assistant in a complaint. Taimi learns about him by chance through his distress signal.
Hypothesis 3.1: The Inquest employs Blish for the research on the new asura gates that don't require a receiving gate. (Hence why Taimi finds his name when she was in Fahranur to be forced to use that technology.)
It's one of the core projects Rata Primus focuses on, and has been one of Blish's fields of study we'll actively get to see him put to use. (As soon as "Forearmed Is Forewarned")
Hypothesis 3.2: The “few dozen liquified specimens" from that complaint are Gorrik's trained bugs.
Fun Observation: The bugs you encounter in his lab follow him around during the evacuation and do make it to the escape ship.
Hypothesis 3.2.1: Gorrik is not wearing the typical Inquest attire. That means he's either very highly ranked… or - considering his being at odds with their testing, ignored distress messages and reclusive lab - has been dishonored.
Which leads me to...
Hypothesis 4: (and this may be a wild theory, but hear me out) Gorrik is a bargaining chip to keep Blish motivated to work for Rata Primus. Think like: “Your brother can keep doing his bug research and thus not get in the way of what we're doing but in return you gotta pull his weight.” It's either that or both of them get expelled while all the research they've been working on stays.
This theory is based itself on Hypothesis 1 and 3.1 and could be a possible explanation for the observations made in 2.1. and 3.2.1.
Let's discuss. :D

I am not "in the Fandom" beyond playing the game, I don't feel comfortable enough sharing my stuff with members of my guild who I've been on voice-call with for the social anxiety of getting ridiculed, and I feel sorry for the three individual people I keep spamming about brainstorming and headcanons and whatnot on a daily basis in my discord DMs instead...
...so if I can manage to remember, I'll try to dump some of that stuff on tumblr instead within the coming days :')
Hi I'm levy and the Gorrik + assorted Asura brainworms have been eating away at my brain for the last month or so. Send help. Or people to rave with.

I am very late to this, but the other day I came across this lovely bit of ambient dialogue in the wiki:
Which implies that Gorrik DID attend a college before joining the Inquest, further muddling things xD
okay none of this is new information but as usual i am thinking about gorrik and arenanet just. really never considered the timeline of his life and the implications of that at all, huh
like, okay, for eod you needed him to have a relationship to ankka and you needed ankka to have connections to the aetherblades, so you threw them both in thaumanova, fine
except. thaumanova. which blew up in 1324.
and no, we don't have a canon age for gorrik. but we know taimi's age, that she was friends with blish, and that blish is older than gorrik
now. taimi didn't know that the brothers had joined the inquest. which means either they'd kept it a secret from her, or more likely, it happened after they lost touch
taimi was born in 1313, meaning that the absolute oldest she could have been when she last saw them, is ten
now sure, taimi skipped a couple years, she's a prodigy even among asura - but age really matters when you're in single digits. for blish to be a friend, rather than a mentor, he can't be much older than maybe four years above her? i'd put that as the reasonable upper limit, they could be closer
(i'd also honestly guess that gorrik is a bit younger than taimi, given a) how much he looks up to blish, and b) that taimi prior to s4 only thought of him as blish's weird little brother, they weren't friends. and again, at that young, age matters - if you're 7, your friend is 10, and his little brother is 8 or 9, your first connection to him is probably not "oh, the little brother", because he's not little to you)
but assuming im wrong on all of that, just going back to our facts, that puts gorrik at the most about 2-3 years older than taimi
which means that the age we're looking at, for joining the inquest, thaumanova, all the stuff with ankka... he was somewhere between 9 and 13. could be even younger but im giving him the benefit of the doubt
gorrik says he never thought about ankka romantically and i believe him, but if there was ever anything there from her side, it was definitely a kiddie's first crush kinda thing, like oh we are a boy and a girl who are best friends clearly this is what romance means
because both of them were so fucking young
god knows spending her teenage years in the aetherblades was not great for ankka's everything, and by the time we find gorrik and blish in bug in the system, they've been working for the inquest for at least 8 years
that's almost half his life, at that point. working for an organisation that the thaumanova fractal and rata primus make incredibly clear does not value the lives of its workers in any way at all - they'll feed you to their latest experiment just for standing there, and gorrik wasn't just keeping his head down and going along with it, gorrik was actively sabotaging their research when he morally disagreed with it
(and this isn't even getting into why they joined the inquest in the first place, which i will bet anything i own on being because of blish's illness and needing the technology to save him)
and to their credit, i do think this comes across in bug in the system! because if you go back to early gorrik, first half of s4, having played through the rest of the story? the difference is shocking, like he is so distrusting and snide and defensive as hell of his brother, he talks like he expects you to attack him or blish at any moment
but then they never do anything with that ever again, and like, i love all the new gorrik content, genuinely i do, but arenanet there are layers to this character that you have entirely forgotten about, and god i wish we had a story that actually explored that

"𝐒𝐨... 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝. 𝐈 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝." A few days ago I had a chance to meet the wonderful talented Tommy Earl Jenkins. And it was only afterwards I realized he also voiced one of my most memorable GW2 character: Blish. A true hero...
