some things to know about me, the mun!

*i've been writing in the sonic rpc for a few years now, you might recognize me by the name toby (i'm going by rune now, heads up!) i'm back from my hiatus with a fresh coat of paint and a new way of going about tumblr rp. i will be primarily icon-less since a lot of the time i will not have access to my computer when i'm writing.

*i'm an adhd writer with a full-time job and irl relationships to tend to, so if consistency in a writing buddy is what you're looking for, i can't promise that. if i get super locked into a plot though, you can expect me to be annoyingly invested in it for a while!

*my favorite things to write are: emotions, drama and character development driven plots. i LOVE angst, but also calm, quiet, and contemplative stuff too. shipping is my guilty pleasure, you can probably sell me on most pairings if you think there's a spark between our muses. (just.. nothing involving the littler guys like tails or cream or marine. they're too baby to me.) i also think the juxtaposition between technocolor super animals and boring, mundane slice of life is endearing and enjoyable. i also like to shitpost and write stuff for the bit. to be honest, if there's a cool idea and we're both like "that's a cool idea lets write that" i'll likely be totally down. also i LOVE crossover, it's my bread and butter.

*i don't put up with bullies or assholes! vague posting, pity fishing, guilt tripping, passive aggression, and harassing for responses are all behaviors that i've unfollowed people for because it's dumb and rude and harmed my experience. i don't vibe with callout posts or airing petty drama out on the dashboard for the world to see. don't try to tell me who or what i can't interact with. i have a hunch that most people here on this hellsite community are probably tired, gay ass liberals who just wanna rp funny animals - including myself, and are not bigots. but regardless, if i do see bigoted behavior, that's an easy block. and on that note: the only time i find callouts to be appropriate is if there is a literal predator roaming about or it's for a victim trying to get away from their abuser. (sadly, that happens in rpcs sometimes. keep in mind, there is a difference between actual abusers and people who are just being a dickhead. as i stated earlier, if someone's just flat out rude to me they're catching this block.)

Massive inf au appreciation post, this thing is..rllyy long..

The infected au was made on 2/2/22, today is 2/2/23. The au is officially 1 year old!! :D

The au has come a long way and I am so happy I was able to see it grow to be what it has become today, from the beginning to now. This post is basically how the au came to be, the way it affected me as a person, and more extra stuff!!

Also heads up! Nearing the end of this paragraph there is a bloody eclair edit! Beware!

HISTORY

THE AU & ME

The infected au was formed by a lot of people! Me and a bunch of my other friends (Norman, Roffy, Shun, Klee, Mags, and Trophy) were in a GC that was initially made to raid a server with this one weirdo guy but we don't talk abt him erm, anyways!! The idea to make an au came from Norman. He sent an eclair sprite edit with the text "I might make this an AU if I really wanted 😦" the sprite edit was eclair but really injured and. miserable. We decided to make a server and began brainstorming in there!

Now you might be wondering (no you arent) how did all the creators meet? Did you know each other from another server??

We all indeed meet from another server, we all actually met from a now-deleted cookie run rp server! Ironically enough Norman was the first person I rped with LFAMSSOA anwayys coughs so much erm. yeah!! I have this really vivid memory where Roffy, Norman, Klee, and LEMON (me!!) were doing a Mandela catalog cookie run rp, Roffy was Almond (he got his SHIT ROCKED BTW OH MY LORD), Norman was Madeleine and Eclair, I was my oc, CC, and Klee was her oc, Max! I think that was the moment when we all started getting comfortable with each other.

oh my god, this server has changed me so much as a person and has helped me develop into the me I am today. That place was and still is my safe place. I feel so comfortable in there and the community is so accepting and silly, we're all just like a little happy family. I remember when I was going through a really awful time in my life and I opened up abt it in the server. The community helped me get out of that god forbid situation without making me seem like a fool, they helped me realize that it's OKAY to be going through something heart-wrenching and that people care about me. I remember when I wasn't really a good roleplayer in that server. Every one of my rps would seem so rushed and panicked, but nobody ever made fun of me. They let me go at my own pace, and they made me feel like I belonged. Slowly and steadily I got better at it, I started doing paragraph rps and started researching stuff about writing and reading more, I learned how to expand on my interests and how to get better at what I love all because of that silly cookie run rp server. I wouldn't even BE here without that server, I wouldn't have gotten Tumblr, I wouldn't have even gotten that into cookie run without that server, and I wouldn't be able to make the things I make today without that server. It's so hard to explain just how much this au means to me, this place is like a second home to me. I can be myself there without anyone screaming at me, I can write in whatever way I want without someone telling me I'm writing too much or too less, I can draw anything my heart desires without someone telling me my art is awful or overboard. There's no such thing as 'cringe' or 'stupid' in the infected au, be anyone you want and this place will love you just as much as everyone else! Its literally the most accepting discord server I've ever had the pleasure of building and being apart of. The infected au caused me and so many people to become closer. Roffy is literally like a little sibling to me, Norman is literally my platonic lover, and Klee and Mags are my children apparently, I love them all with every fiber of my being.(/P) I'm so happy we all got to create so many memories in the AU and I hope we all will continue to do so for much, much longer. Today was the day my life started getting better, today is literally like a worldwide holiday to me, today is a day I hope never is forgotten by anyone in the infected au including myself. Im running out of things to write but you get the point.

Experience/how long (months/years?): i've been making up stories and embodying characters who aren't me basically my entire life. i honestly don't know who i'd be without fun pretendy times. in terms of online rp, i've been goin' since i was 13, so almost 20 years at this point. i've been on tumblr since 2011, and before that, i've used forums, chatboxes, online messengers, deviantART notes, i've done it all!

Best experience: a forum rp based on the movie " 9 " by shane acker. met some truly incredible people through that experience ( including my gf with whom i had a beautiful baby! ) and just overall had a great time weaving this big intricate plot together that spanned many months. i miss that level of cooperative plotting and threading, it was really fun and engaging.

RP pet peeves/dealbreakers: admittedly i very rarely unfollow / break a mutual with someone, so my threshold of tolerance is fairly high. i understand everyone has their bad days and that sometimes the only place a person can blow off steam or unwind is in the rpc. that said, i steer clear of people that display a consistent level of callousness, unkindness, or overall rude behavior ooc. i don't care how good a person's writing is, rp is a social hobby and if a person is gonna treat fellow players like shit all the time, nobody owes them interactions. no ooc / ic divide is also a big deal breaker.

Muse preference (fluff, angst or smut?): i find i really enjoy charged interactions, either moments of action or elevated emotion. i love seeing what happens when two muses just talk and share some really interesting chemistry that naturally progresses the plot. of course i love fluff and angst and all, but those kinds of things work best when i'm really invested in the muses earning that moment of sweetness after a lot of struggle or fighting their way through a hard time together. i love smut in theory, but i'm mega shy about writing it with new people. i think the stuff i enjoy in an erotic context is just so deeply personal, it's hard to share casually unless i really trust the other mun and gel with their writing style.

Plots or memes: for sure memes, i'm horrible at plotting out ideas unless i'm super familiar with the other person and their muse. i love brainstorming ideas and seeing where those vibes go, rather than planning out details of what's gonna happen.

Long or short replies: somewhere in - between i'd say. just depends on the rhythm of the scene and what best keeps things moving.

Best time to write: usually when i'm caffeinated and have had a nap. fully restored and ready to shift into Focus Mode babey.

Are you like your muse: while i can def relate to his struggles with intense anxiety and all the incredibly inconvenient ways that it manifests, i'm not a lot like pepp. which has proven to be a fun writing challenge, tbh! i enjoy trying to get into the heads of characters with their own set of morals and beliefs separate of my own, try to understand why they think and act like they do.

Hmm...a pretty open ended question but I'll do my best! =w=

I assume it's mostly in regards to my writing and less so my drawing, but I've been doing both more or less my whole life, though drawing I kinda stopped doing for like...7 years and only got back into because I joined the DCA fandom, whereas writing I don't think I ever fell out of? Granted most of my writing for the past decade has been RP but comparing the stuff I wrote 10 years ago to the stuff of now...it definitely helped me improve.

I mostly RP'd with my girlfriend who was a much better writer than me when we started so I think working my way up to her level is also one of the big reasons my writing improved.

Having a brainstorming buddy also helps, instead of trying to construct a whole story in your head. That's something I haven't had until recently, because I never wanted to talk spoilers with someone who was going to read my writing. (Or my writing was too mortifying to be even mentioned to anyone lmao) My partner (different person than my girlfriend if that's not clear) is not into FNAF so wouldn't want to sit down and read a whole ass fic but they've been my sounding board for a lot of my fic ideas and it's really helped.

But the main thing really is practice, I think. My gf and I have probably written about 40-50 stories together and my partner and I probably did a similar amount (albeit much shorter ones) while we were RPing. With my gf I was mostly in charge of the plot direction so that did a lot towards me learning how to take a concept and expand it into a whole plot with twists and foreshadowing (both accidental and intentional lmao) and such. I usually didn't know where the story was going to go when we started, and that's true of Stereo Souls as well. When I wrote those first two chapters I did not have a completed story in my head.

What Transformer would Stiles become a Headmaster with?

Okay, so, to preface: I do not know much about the Headmasters. I've read, like, one entire fanfic that used/mentioned the premise and I've seen the wiki page, so I don't have much to go off of here.

Just to double check, you mean Stiles Stilinski, yes? Because I'm going to answer assuming you do (Stiles and Stiles, the only other one you could maybe mean is Miles but if so just let me know and I'll type out an answer for him). The thing with Stiles is... there are so many answers to this question that I think could be interesting, even just going off of the limited number of 'bots I see under the Headmasters wiki page. Some of the Transformers (just the Autobots, actually) I see listed are a few I already recognize from my limited amount of comic reading/show watching/fic reading, so that makes it a bit easier in that regard.

After a little bit of reading, I gravitated towards Fortress Maximus. I think that, for the most part, the two could mesh very well, and Stiles could definitely provide new ideas and ways of doing things that Fortress Maximus would never think of. Conversely, when they did clash, they would clash bad. Fortress Maximus would prefer to stop fighting, and just aims to protect. Stiles would aim to protect, but would also aim to finish the fight and would be willing to play dirty if he had to so he could make sure his loved ones were safe and healthy. Plus he would justify it because the other side would play dirty, so why shouldn't he? And Fortress Maximus would hate that.

Outside of that, him and Brainstorm would be a wild combination. Just... constant ideas and experiments and half thought up schemes. I feel like Brainstorm would just make some of Stiles' worst tendencies even worse, and vice versa. What was it that one time? Stiles once wrote that paper on circumcision and it wasn't even the topic? That would just become worse with Brainstorm, tbh. They would be a volatile combination because they would both have a tendency to hyper focus on one thing, which could definitely be bad if they forget about/push other stuff to the wayside for it. But the sheer amount of stuff they would come up with would somewhat make up for it? Someone would just have to babysit them and make sure they listened to rules, really.

Also... can I cheat? Because when I was thinking of Fortress Maximus I ended up thinking that basically FM would be Optimus Prime and Stiles would end up being sort of like Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime in a way, which with more thought was a bad comparison but it stuck because I think out of the three considerations, even though he isn't technically a Headmaster, I would pick Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime to stick with Stiles.

I think he and Stiles would be a fascinating combination! Both of them are rash and full of self bravado but also lacking in self confidence (RP more than HR, but you get it). Stiles would bring more planning and strategizing to the table, and HR/RP would be way better at faking the confidence aspect of things and bullshiting his way through certain things. Also, they would both adore driving certain people insane. RIP to Ultra Magnus and whatever peace he had before this unholy matrimony. Also, I once saw someone mention that it was incredibly funny so many pairings happened on the Lost Light/ended up there and that poor Rodimus had to watch it happen, and it would be even funnier with Stiles sharing his head demanding a play by play/being salty that robots were getting more action than he was.

I'm so sorry if this wasn't the answer you were hoping for! I know very little about the Headmasters as a whole so just had fun with it.

long or short replies: i tend to lean towards longer replies, i always end up with more than a couple of paragraphs. but i don't mind short things at all, especially for banter or crack/memeing, and i neverrr expect others to match the length of my replies.

best time to write: aaaa man, i'm usually preoccupied a lot in the day, and timezones basically means my evenings/nights are when it's like 3am or something for everyone else LOL... so i just write on my phone from a notes app whenever the muse(s) hit and post it later. i'm an agent of chaos.

So yeah, not sure if I'll put anything up directly on ao3 (might depend on how treatment goes) but I've been going through wrist and hand issues since last summer, which translated to tingling aches over the holidays, and now numbness and weakness in both hands. I got a study last week that confirmed double carpal tunnel, and I should be discussing severity and treatment options on Thursday, but for now, the point is that's probably been affecting my writing motivation before I was even aware of it. Even with voice-to-text, it's hard to get really into writing with that.

...That SAID, I can't entirely blame my hands for my hiatus. Been watching a lot of games and been busy with family, ~and~ coming back from seeing PotO has my headspace soundly on that. Been revisiting ol' rps and just brainstorming stuff, building would-be stories in my head, even if the thought of writing for phandom solo is overwhelming new territory. Especially since my Erik/Meg otp and 15+ years of headcanons would be beyond niche, and big plans = dedication I likely cannot give (see above wrist drama). Especially since I AM dedicated to finishing A Truth So Strong when I can. But that doesn’t stop me from binging musical songs and mentally organizing thoughts and trying to translate old headcanons into more mainstream phan friendly ideas, and initially balking and then coming to love the idea of a Meg-Raoul friendship. pouty puppy & bratty big sis ftw. 5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

I post pretty much everything! ...With the exception of WIPs, traditional doodles-- which are legitimate chicken scratch, pure brainstorming stuff-- and I guess some writing... I keep my RPs to myself for the most part.

I don't actually draw that much on account of being quite slow and spread out across several mediums, some of which is difficult to document. 2021 was a big deal for me because not only was I producing a lot, but I was producing a lot that I could share very easily.

I’m gonna try this again because so far no luck hahaha. So I love love love The Hunger Games. I have seen all movies, read all the books I cannot wait for the new movie.

I can totally double and I can play a canon character except Snow. Im sorry but I have a deep festered hatred for that man and yes he’s attractive young but tbh the only reason I read the new book was for Lucy grey. Anyways as long as you play Peeta for me who wouldn’t want Peeta! He’s strong, sweet, slightly devious (come on the if it weren’t for the baby scene! He’s an actor). My oc would actually be the granddaughter of snow who is also with the rebellion. I would like the rp to have 50/50 mature scenes and stuff. So these character will be aged up. I do also want to talk about ocs and be friends and just get all cute with our Ocs hahaha and their respective partners.

A Mercenary's Loyalty - How Punz's betrayal is a hoax

For many people, Punz coming through the portal and bringing along the cavalry was the highlight of the Disc Confrontation. 

Tommy and Tubbo were trapped with one of the most dangerous people on the server. They had no gear, no way out, no hope at all for saving their lives. Their respective imprisonment and death seemed inevitable. The only thing left for them to do was say their final goodbyes to each other. That is, until Punz intervened in a perfectly well timed and epic Endgame moment. 

...A little too perfectly well timed.

Punz's betrayal was a pivotal moment in the plot of DSMP, shaping the landscape of the story for the months to come. You would think something so important would not leave much room to doubt the validity of it. Yet, even when it happened there were things which pointed towards said betrayal being a lot more uncertain than it first seems. And not too long ago some evidence was discovered which questioned things even further.

But let's start at the beginning.

On December 18th, shortly after Techno's execution, Dream and Punz held a private meeting to discuss where their plans for the future were heading. Dream was nervous, he told Punz, L'manburg seemed to be going after their enemies and if Techno was a target, Dream, whose crimes were magnitudes bigger, is surely one as well. 

"You should [be on my side], but you should act like you’re not on my side." (18:21) Dream says before he and Punz proceed to brainstorm how they should stage a falling out between them. Unfortunately the fake argument never ends up happening before Doomsday rolls around, but this does tell us something important. We can’t tell whether Punz acted as a spy or betrayed Dream in truth just from looking at his actions. Both scenarios would look exactly the same to someone not clued into Dream’s plans, and despite what some of the fandom may think, we don’t actually have a confirmation of what Dream’s plans are. All we have are the plans he told his known enemies. Needless to say, that’s not a reliable source as he would have plenty of reasons to lie to them. 

The lack of a convincing fallout leads Tommy to be suspicious of Punz and his sudden turn on Dream at Doomsday. Tommy doesn’t do much with the suspicion until January 19th, the day before the Disc Confrontation, where he leaves a bribe to Punz in his home alongside a request for him to change sides. 

This clip has been cited as the main argument to support the idea Punz truly betrayed Dream by saving Tommy and Tubbo, however a closer look at the wording used reveals that things aren’t so cut and dry. 

“[Tommy] said he’s suspicious of me. Ever since I joined his side… Why would he be suspicious of me? Well, I guess, I did kind of joined his side out of nowhere and I’ve always been with Dream since the very start. My reasoning for joining him wasn’t too concrete, it was just… What was my reasoning actually? Was it anything crazy? It was just ‘cause- Dream… Dream was going insane? Or something. Was that my reasoning? I don’t even remember. I guess it does make sense why he’d be suspicious.

But this- Why? I wouldn’t really go against Dream, so it’s kinda weird… But now there’s payment. These… All these gold blocks and diamond blocks and Netherite. I guess, I do have a reason to go against Dream.” (5:08)

Now, is Punz saying he’s considering turning against Dream? Or is he saying his previous “turn” on Dream was unconvincing because he seemingly had no motive, but that this payment could provide a perfect cover reason to make a “betrayal” believable?

Everything in this little monologue is phrased in such a way that both interpretations can be read into it. Leaving us with no real clue one way or the other as to whether Punz actually betrayed Dream.

I could go on and point out some suspicious stuff from the Disc Confrontation itself too. Like how Punz declaring "You should have paid me more," as his first and most iconic line is perfect in letting everyone know that yes, he actually does have a motive for turning against Dream this time and it’s a good one he swears. Or how the exact timing of his arrival obviously had to be coordinated between the CCs out-of-character in order to create the most dramatic deus ex machina moment, and that said coordination could easily be seen as an in-character thing too. 

But just like the rest of the stuff presented so far it would be circumstantial evidence at best that could be easily explained by other means. “Punz never betrayed Dream” hasn’t been disproven, but it hasn’t been proven either.

(Nor, for that matter, has "Punz betrayed Dream" been proven either. At this point both theories exist in the limbo state of "Possible, but doesn't actually have clear cut evidence to support it.")

Enter Stone Theory. A game changer which presents us with actual solid evidence to help us decide which of the interpretations is true.

Punz is collecting stone. So are Wilbur and Enderboo. All three of them are collecting it in massive amounts. Stone doesn't have a lot of uses in Minecraft, not like iron or diamonds or redstone. There's no way all three of them came up with seperate reasons for needing so much of a relatively useless resource independently of each other, therefore there must be a common reason for all of them to do so.

One of the earliest instances of stone collection shown in the narrative is when the mystery of what Enderboo was mining came up, a mystery CC!Ranboo actively pulls the audience's attention towards. A mystery he mentions months later during a stream meant to recap his narrative and provide newcomers all the necessary details so they would be able to keep up with future developments in his lore. Both Punz and Enderboo go to great lengths to hide the stone collection from other characters as well as the audience. Wilbur mentions how stone is needed for his future plans. The stone collection is clearly plot related rather than an OOC thing, and the reason why it's plot relevant would most likely cause an unexpected twist in the plot.

So what's something plot related all three of those characters share with each other which could drive them to mine so much stone?

Not much actually. Not much except for how they all worked with Dream in the past and show no objection towards doing so in the present as well. 

The most logical conclusion therefore is that they're all doing this stone collecting on Dream's behalf, as part of some bigger plan. 

So Punz is definitely on Dream's side now, but can we really assume this has always been the case?

Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that despite working on Dream's plan now, Punz genuinely betrayed him before and simply had a change of heart. Immediately a few problems pop up with this interpretation.

For one, when would he even have that change of heart? Punz never visited Dream in prison. As far as I'm aware he never so much as mentioned Dream's name in-character since the Disc Confrontation.

But say he changed his mind off-screen, how would he have learned about the plan for which they're collecting stone? Not from Dream, as he never talked with him in prison. Not from Enderboo, who wouldn't trust a known traitor when he goes to such lengths to hide his activities from even a different part of him. Not from Wilbur, who Punz would have no reason to even know is actually working with Dream.

But maybe the stone collection was in the plans from before the Disc Confrontation. Yet, Punz would have no reason to go through with such a plan if his betrayal was real. The guy is a mercenary, he isn't one to care for big, complex plans such as this for his own sake. And the man whose plan it is, is locked up in an inescapable jail and cannot put it into action.

Unless of course, Dream getting locked up was part of the plan all along. The only situation in which the order of events makes sense is one where Dream and Punz coordinated the "betrayal" beforehand in order to get Dream locked up in his own prison and the stone collection was only meant to start after Dream was already behind bars.

Which actually lines up with the timeline of events as we know it. The earliest example of stone collection we can track down goes back to Ranboo on January 20th, mere hours after Dream got locked up. 

“What are you working on? We are mining for a new project. We are getting resources for a new project.” (01:06:43) Ranboo tells his audience as he digs out a mine near his house and keeps every bit of stone he collects along the way. “Oh, inventory’s full. Time to go back. Because we need a lot of stone for our project. It’s gonna be great.” (38:06).

So long story short, what does this all tell us?

At the Disc Confrontation, Punz didn't betray Dream. He acted in his capacity as a spy and his epic entrance was nothing more than part of a plan both he and Dream coordinated beforehand. 

Yet, if Punz's "betrayal" was enacted with the goal of getting Dream locked up in Pandora's Vault, what does it say about the rest of the Disc Confrontation? Was it all staged as a ruse to promote that same goal?

As a matter of fact, yes, that does seem to be the case. The Disc Confrontation is absolutely riddled with inconsistencies once you watch it with a skeptical eye. 

But that's an essay for another time.

THTS Explaination

Hi everyone,

I wanted to give y’all a bit more of an explanation of what happened with the original To Hold the Sun. I’ve seen some questions and concerns come up based on a post the previous co-author made and I wanted to try to clear things up because there is very little context for what happened.

THTS was based on a roleplay we had done in August last year. It’s the sort of story where there’s not a lot of canonical worldbuilding done and worldbuilding is something I’m really into and so I wanted to expand on the canon lore, hone the storyline from the rp, and turn it into a fic. I mentioned it to the previous co-author and asked if they would want credit since they did the RP with me, and they expressed interest in co-writing the fic and I said okay.

I did all of the worldbuilding, as mentioned above worldbuilding is my thing, and our agreement was that I’d put together the outlines for each chapter, and then we’d both write basically half of each chapter (I did Link’s POV, they did Zelda’s POV). After that I did general edits before sending it off to the betas. I’d then go through beta edits, handle their incorporation, and post the chapters.

As far as the split… To make a long story short, me and the previous co-author had some creative differences in how we envisioned the story as well as different styles of working, and we were butting heads near constantly over them near the end. I tried to work towards compromises, but it felt like we always just ended up arguing, and my suggestions were generally met with anger, frustration, and/or resistance. After trying and failing to find a way forward, and recognizing that the situation was causing me a lot of anxiety as well as negatively impacting my mental health, I asked them to step down so I could just do things by myself.

I definitely said some petty things to the previous co-author out of anger, and they did the same to me. Working together just wasn’t healthy or sustainable for either of us, it just seems that I was the one who recognized it and pulled the plug.

As a result, they asked me to remove their contributions (which I agreed to because it was a fair request since it wouldn’t be a collab anymore), and agreed to give me some time to rewrite their portions so the audience wouldn’t experience a huge disruption in the meantime. Two of my betas offered to help me get caught up (since I wanted to do it quickly in order to respect the previous co-author’s wishes) so then I could write the rest of the fic myself. But then the next day I checked AO3 and all of their stuff was gone without a word and they had blocked me on discord so I couldn’t communicate with them and I have not since that point.

And as much as it hurt and disappointed me, I decided to use that situation as an opportunity to rework both the story and my approach to writing it because I was unhappy with some of the content and thought it could be reworked into something even better. And because those two betas had already been brainstorming with me and working with me, and we already knew we were like minded as far as how we work on projects, I decided it would be fun to start fresh and ask them to rewrite the fic alongside me. That decision was not made until AFTER it was made clear that my former co author was not interested in keeping their word about giving me time to replace their work in the original.

Thank you to everyone for respecting our privacy when the changes were announced, but it’s fair for people to have questions, and hopefully this helps paint the full picture for you. To be clear I haven’t said anything in detail about this until now because I wanted it to be done and because I was under the impression that this was water under the bridge for both of us.
