“Roy,” she said, abruptly serious — not the way she was serious with her patients but the way she had been in court during her grudge match of a divorce, lips pressed flat and eyebrows low. “Are you okay?”
“The fuck are you asking for?” he demanded, unsettled.
She was standing in front of him now, hands braced on the hospital bed. “I’m asking because you’ve played football since you were nine and I’ve never heard you say a word about what you’d do afterwards. I’m asking because you ran your body into the ground and bit my and everyone else’s head off any time we tried to get you to stop, and I’m fucking asking because you’re my brother, and you’re about to have surgery, and I love you.”
Roy flinched. Not at the fact that she loved him but at the fact that she’d said it — they didn’t, in their family, not to each other and not from their parents. (Phoebe was the exception, of course, because she was a child and needed it spelled out that people loved her. So were Jamie and Keeley, who were both so open with their affection and more fragile than they let on).
“It’s fucking shit,” he admitted, choked. His eyes stung. “It’s fucking shit, Mara, I don’t know what the fuck I’m going to do with the rest of my life.” They held each other, then, just the two of them in that quiet cool room where the doctors would slice him open and not even fix him in any way that mattered.

Because [Jamie] could be sweet, in his own clumsy way: he brought her breakfast in bed and endless cups of tea when she’d caught the flu back before they were even properly dating and debated nail polish colours in the salon, and sometimes when they were curled up together late at night he forgot he was supposed to act all cool and unaffected and the strange odds and ends of knowledge he had packed up in his mind came spooling out all wide-eyed and earnest.

A/N: This was one of the best and one of the most heartbreaking episodes I've ever seen. That being said, omfg. All I could think of was Baby Roy. My heart broke for Roman. It was beautiful and an honest portrayal of grief, but I was not ready at all. I wasn't planning on writing anymore parts, but I just couldn't help myself. This episode was too good to leave it be. You can still taste the whiskey in the back of your throat. It’s a familiar burning. It’s something you shouldn’t welcome with open arms, but when have you ever turned away from a love that could kill you? When have you been shown any other kind of affection? Their hugs always came with a stab in the back, right between your vertebrae. They were always intentional with their strokes, never wanting to waste a moment, a movement. What you wouldn’t give for a drink right now. Salted rim. Ice. Something bright, something colorful, something to make this all go away. You were so close last time, tip toeing on the edge. Where he fell, you flew, dragged back by the skin of your teeth. You didn’t want to be saved, you wanted to be free. The memories are hazy, but your throat was scratchy, voice patchy, as if you’d been screaming. As if you’d been begging. No one explained, though you had a feeling they all heard. They looked at you differently now. You knew what they said behind your back, your fathers old posse, what they thought of you. Suicidal. Maybe. What did they care about? Now you started what could have been. The casket, the rows and rows of nameless faces, most never shedding a tear over your old man, over you. The violins, the church, the halo effect the light gives as if anyone in this room were remotely holy. You hadn’t had anything since the incident, nothing to drink, nothing to use, but that didn’t mean you couldn’t still feel it, want it. After the charcoal, the sick, after that, it seemed like you could never get rid of that boozy taste in your mouth. Faint, but there. Mocking you, your sobriety. What your father would have said to you after the incident plays on loop in your mind. That if you wanted to cry he would give you something to cry about, if you wanted to die he would give you something to die about.
Too late, you think, you beat me to it. 
Your mother sat beside Caroline and Kerry, making the ever rare appearance in the world to grieve her ex-spouse. She hugged you as she came in, doing the same with your brothers and sister, reminding you this wasn’t the kind of event that came with an open bar. You smiled, unsure of what else to do, unsure of what to say, struck as if you’d been slapped across the face. She wasn’t there. She didn’t see you, in that bed, in that condition. You hadn’t even attempted to call her in that haze, you’d gone to your dead father instead. You knew. You knew even as you lay dying that she would not offer the comforts you so desperately wanted. She would not let you go in peace. Someone must’ve filled her in, though by the look in her eye you’d never know it. She was as jaded and hostile as ever. She seemed satisfied with herself, her quip, moving on to your sister and her big news. Your eyes stung. Someone put their hand on your shoulder, giving it a squeeze. Connor or Kendall. You never found out who. Suddenly you were drained. Of life, of everything, wanting to lay down on the pew and sleep forever. You let your siblings talk. You let them wander off to their prospective parties, sticking by Connor like a little kid, becoming his shadow. Since that night he hasn’t let you out of his sight. He takes care of you. He makes sure you’re doing okay. The others call, checking in more than they ever have, all of them feeling guilty. You didn’t mean to. You didn’t mean to make such a mess. You were just so angry, so alone. You were tired of fighting this thing inside of you that could not be controlled, that threatened to burn you alive. 
Time passes strangely. There are gaps in between. You don’t remember sitting down or watching them carry him in, only that he rests in the aisle and you cannot stop yourself from holding your breath. You can’t take your eyes off the casket. He’s really in there, you think, he’s really gone. Part of you still thinks this is all one massive trick. That he’s going to pop up and laugh, making a fool out of all of you. You wait, but he does not stir. Despite their best efforts, Ewan takes his place at the podium. He talks of his brother and sister, Rose. Of Logan's life before you, before the money. You’d never heard any of this before. Your fathers life was a series of scattered bits of information and assumptions to fill in the gaps. You only had a handful of real facts about him, ones that weren’t superficial like his age and birthday. The realization seeps into your skin: you never even knew him. You watch the same thought in your siblings' expressions. The quiver of Roman’s bottom lip. The glazed over look in Kendall's eyes. Even Connor, your oldest brother, the one who knew him the longest, stared forward as if he were desperate to breathe and Ewans words were the only oxygen in the room. All of you hopeless without him, without this story, as if you were hearing about him for the first time. The man you wanted to be loved by so frantically was nothing but a stranger. He kept all of you at arms length, not wanting to get hurt again. Now here you were, hurting, missing out on a father, a real father, because of his fears. You dug your nails into your palms, wanting to scream. 
You watched him crumble before you. He’d been so confident, so manic, you should have known. You should have known all that pre-grieving was masochistic bullshit. His words catch in his throat, his hands shuffle his cards around, until finally he needs to step down, the tears glistening in his eyes. All of you reflectively stand, meeting him at the bottom of the stairs. He is sobbing now, trying to keep it all in. Is he in there? He asks. Can we get him out? Connor steps in front of you, taking his little brother by the arm, as if he doesn’t want you to see this, as if he can protect you from their pains, their sorrows. Roman holds his hands in front of his face, shielding himself from the fury of a ghost. Through your siblings, you grab his cards from his shaking hand. I can do it, you say, catching their eyes. Even Roman, his puppy dog eyes wide and scared and sad, are surprised. I got this. You sound more confident than you feel. None object, though you watch Ken and Shiv share an argument with just their eyes. You smile at Roman, assuring him it’s okay. You have to be there for them, too. You have to be there for them like they’ve been for you. Your tiny crowd dissipates, all of them sitting around him. You take your place at the podium. There is such a huge turnout you can’t see everyone's faces, though you have a feeling you know what they’re thinking. Frank leans over, whispers something to Gerri. You clear your throat, looking over what your brother has written. Fuck. Clutching the cards, you think quickly. The silence hangs in the air thick. I didn’t know my father, you start. Not well, at least. He wasn’t, uh, he wasn’t an easy man to get to know. Some chuckle. He spent most of his time at work, with all of you. Even as a little kid, I thought that’s where Dad lived, in the office. I had no idea uh, I had no idea they lived at home with their family. More laughter. You cannot look at anyone else but your siblings. They nod at you, encouraging you to go on. Someone got Roman water. You offer a sympathetic smile at him, knowing this will haunt him. Tears are welling up in your eyes as you speak, laughter catching in your throat. I, uh, I still can’t believe it, you know? You swallow a sob. I keep thinking that he’s going to come out of nowhere, that this was just some joke he’s playing on us. That we’ll hear his laugh out of nowhere and he’ll be back. It’s not though, it can’t be. It's too real now. Your hands begin to shake, the concerned faces of your brothers and sister blurred by tears. You catch your mother wiping her dry face with a tissue. Kendall inches forward, ready to come to your rescue. I didn’t know him well, but I miss him every single day. I miss the way he used to yell and that disappointed look he gave when we messed up. I miss his condescending tone and the way he danced around an apology. I miss him. We all do. He wasn’t uh, he wasn’t an easy man to love, but who is? 
Connor takes your hand in his, giving it three squeezes. Kendall went up, then Shiv. you can’t hear their words, you can only watch them try to keep themselves together. They share stories of your father, from a childhood before you. You liked hearing about it, as sad as it may be. You were grateful they had each other, that they didn’t grow up so alone. Your head rests on Rome’s shoulder, his sniffling quiet, cautious, as if your father could hear him. On the other side of the church, your mother sobs loudly. The rest of Logan's wives and girlfriends come to her rescue, comforting her, despite not a single tear being shed. You roll your eyes, wishing the day over as fast as possible. You keep close behind Connor and Willa, who are thanking the sea of nameless faces for coming. People you’ve never seen before, people you’ve seen in passing, in Christmas cards, others you have the terrible feeling that they came only to check that the old man was, in fact, truly dead. You take the car with them all the way to the graveyard where his mausoleum stands tall and daunting. Crisp, harsh lines draw you into where he hoped you would all be buried alongside him. If they hadn’t brought you back, if they hadn’t found you when they did, would you be in there now? Would you have taken the first available slot, destined to share eternity with a man who fucking hated you? A shudder goes through your body. Shiv mistakes it for grief, holding your arm. It is cold and sterile, the very place you would have expected him to be. The ground, the bugs, that’s too dirty. Too much. He never would have been cremated either. He didn’t want to rot, you think, as if this place could prevent that. Roman stands near the doorway, not wanting to go in. You wait beside him, not saying a word. Too much empathy, too much compassion, and you’ll drive him away. No, he just needs his time. You watch Connor place his hand on the places in the wall, as if he has already claimed it on his own. You drop your gaze, trying to stop the thoughts from coming. What if, one day, you’re the only one left? What then? How will you go on without them, all of them? Tears fall silently down your cheeks. You couldn’t do it without them. They were your mother and fathers, they raised you, they saved you. Without them, without them you would be nothing. You never would have made it this far, seen this many years. Despite their faults, despite everything, you owed your life to them. You always would. 
Your brother disappears before you can stop him, shutting himself into isolation, into the car. None of you move, none of you get up to get him, your eyes all transfixed on what’s being done before you. Settled into his final resting place. All that anger, all that rage, where does it go? Does it come back to you? Does it belong to you now? You haven’t been angry since that night, not like how it was, your rage replaced with gratitude. You weren’t happy to be back, to be here, but it was better than the alternative. If they’d had to bury you too, you’re not sure what they would have done. Before you thought your absence meant nothing. That they’d known how to function in a world without you before, they could do it again. The way they looked at you when you woke up, when you cried, you realized just how much you’d put them through, how they seemed to age decades under those fluorescent lights. You apologized profusely, but they wouldn’t hear it. They blamed themselves, all of them. You didn’t want to be here. You didn’t want to be tied back to this life, this meaningless existence, but you couldn’t let yourself hurt them anymore.
The reception is crowded, everyone sharing their condolences. Kendall gets you a water before disappearing to talk to Mencken, Roman following obediently. He makes sure you’re okay on your own, that it’ll only be a minute. You assure him you’ll be alright, really. How he would have hated this, you smile. All these people pretending to have known him, sympathizing with his children. As far as he was concerned you deserved nothing. You deserved less than nothing. You wade through the room. They’re off, doing their own things, trying each and every one of them to one day take over. You never wanted that, you never thought it was your rightful place. You know what you want and it doesn’t involve this. It doesn’t involve schmoozing, it doesn’t involve high stakes and high stress. What wouldn't save your family from this, but it’s too late. It always was. They were pitted against one another before you were even born. You sip your water, forever wishing it were something stronger. The impulse is still there. It always has been, always will be. It didn’t leave just because he did. It didn’t escape you just because he did. It sits in the middle of your chest and it is bitter for being ignored. You did it once, a whole year, you can do it again. You will do it again. If not for yourself, if never for yourself, then for them. For Connor, for Kendall, for Siobhan, for Roman. For the people who have always loved you, always will. Logan is dead. He will be. He didn’t care then and he won’t care now, but they will. It’s up to you to do better, be better, stay sober. It's not easy, it never has been, it never will be. But don’t they deserve that? Don’t each of them deserve that from you? You watch them, each of them, laugh and roll their eyes and try to find their way in this world without him. If they can do it, if they can find a reason to show up, to be there, so can you. Right?

Ngl when I see ppl shipping Jamie and Dr. O'Sullivan I think they're at least a little homophobic and very straight.
well, i disagree with a blanket accusation of homophobia, but I do think it's an opinion that holds a very ~straight appeal~, definitely, lol.
there are honestly a boat load of reasons i hate it but they boil down to:
i kind of get why people (esp. a segment of the general audience) might be attracted to it because it's soooo something (bad) shows/sitcoms would do. Like, my god is it TRITE. Predictable, formulaic...boring as all hell! Of course he's going to get with the nameless sister who has less than five minutes total of screen time, just for a little added spice and drama, sure. That's what happens in (bad) shows. But luckily for the rest of us, Ted Lasso even at its worst is not that brand of bad, lol.
it's completely baseless? Nothing wrong with a baseless ship i guess, but at the same time...literally why this one? lol. Like, Jamie and Roy's sister share one scene together in which I don't believe they even say anything to one another directly? There is no chemistry, no...anything? The entire premise for the ship seems to be Jamie telling Roy his sister is hot. Which was very clearly intended as a way for Jamie to get under Roy's skin. Nothing about the scene makes me want to see those two dating.
the big proponents of it i've seen (often, definitely not always) seem to fit into one of two categories 1) people who don't really like Jamie and/or are upset Jamie "got in the way" of their ship, and thus want him to be written into a corner that pulls him away from their preferred couple/inherently shuffles up their dynamic. they don't actually care to watch a plot between Jamie & Roy's sister, they just want Jamie firmly categorized as Taken and thus Not Interested in Roy and/or Keeley, and this is a convenient and predictable(y stupid) way to do it. lol.
OR 2) people who DO really like Jamie and in fact really like Roy & Jamie, but in a very "no homo" way, who want to see more of their dynamic and have a way to define/further explore their closeness, whilst also justifying their own enjoyment of it, that's well set apart from "they have homoerotic tension." Jamie & Roy's sister dating holds an appeal because it more explicitly puts their relationship into firm "brotherly" territory. And I unabashedly loathe that for the same reason i loathe "Roy is Jamie's father figure!" ...foremost because no really, they can just be best friends!! Even if you do not want to ship roy-jamie romantically, you do not need to slap different familial labels on them (or put them into random other pairings) to make their relationship "more." Their relationship is already "more"...they are canonically best friends!! idk if I'm explaining this in the best way but the mindset behind it often feels very rooted in ~the nuclear family is the most important relationship a person can achieve~ and thus a need to fit everyone into traditional family roles (and in some cases that PLUS blatant homophobia) and it gives me a personal ick. Ew.
If you want to see quirky jamie & phoebe antics or roy and jamie bickering, Jamie x Roy's sister getting it on is in fact not actually necessary for any of that? (and imo doesn't add anything to anyone's arc) Going back to point one...using that pairing to get there feels TO ME very boring and sitcom cartoony.
(i also obviously dislike it for my personal shippy reasons and must acknowledge my bias. 🫡 Jamie dating his best friend's sister when he clearly has a crush on said best friend is a relationship-based mental low point/cry for help i do not actually want him to go through as my fav character, LOL.)
(disclaimer: people can of course feel differently and are entitled to ship whoever they want without even needing a clear reason or explanation! that's totally valid! i want to reiterate I don't think it's inherently problematic as a ship. I just personally think it's a rotten tomato of a plot point and i'm so beyond glad the show didn't waste time entertaining it.)

Soooo we all know a lot of people have died over the span of the series. So i took it upon myself to count them up. All of them. Yes, the nameless grunts and dead bodies in the background. Yes, the ones that no way in hell would survive something like what happened to them. Every single death in this series.
This originally was a doc, but tumblr doesn't allow those, so i'll put all the research under the cut. And it's long, so buckle up.
Rules: 1. Dead person has to be shown on screen (off-screen deaths counted in rare circumstances - heard them, heard about them and details of their death enough to count). En-mass kills are counted up depending on previous scenes of this group and logic. I only count what i see and can logically assume from what's on screen and told by dialog.
2. Aura exists, so most fighters are assumed to survive unless the person doesn’t have active aura or there’s no way in hell someone survives that.
3. Salem «deaths» will be counted, but with an asterisk*, since immortal. Same for Ozes, we see an Oz - we count him, since we know all of them are dead by nature of reincarnation - an exception to «death off screen» rule. 4. Book information included as much as possible since i haven’t read them lol
5. Ascension is counted with an asterisk*, as it is death of self and rebirth into a new form (same as Oz, in a way). +intention of the characters ascending will be counted.

I also didn't count the Jabberwalker bc it's unclear if Neo killed it or just made it serve her and the real one is among her copies. You can add 1 to the count if you wanna count it.

Got bored and decided to do a basic Wiki search of the new personas + new Velvet Room attendant name.
Jánošík (aka, Juraj Jánošík): a Slovak highwayman who robbed from nobles a la Robin Hood. His story is mainly known in Poland and the Czech Republic, and he is a symbol of resisting against oppression.
(Interesting that Wonder’s Persona is like Robin Hood. While that archetype of a person stealing from the rich and giving to the poor is a thing, considering one of Goro’s Persona is Robin Hood...maybe there’s a connection between them, or a hint of what this game and the world going to be about via Goro. Or not. Again, a common archetype. Wouldn’t be surprise by this, consider Atlus are jerks regarding Goro’s fate that is now just annoying.).
Awilda: A Scandinavian female pirate from the 5th century. The daughter of an Scandinavian king, Awilda got so impressed with a prince of Denmark, who was battling her at the time, she revealed her true identity and married him.
(That means for sure Arai is connected to the baseball man with the ‘Palace’. Desire. Still confused with the terminology at the moment. She’s might be a gender flip of Ryuji’s character and his arc. I hope that somehow, these two meet and talk to one another.)
Rob Roy: Full name Rob Roy MacGregor, he was a Scottish outlaw who partake in the Jacobite rising in 1689 (and others), and later became the head of his clan, watching and protecting cattle from raids. Rob Roy also had a feud with the Duke of Montrose at the time and robbed his cattle.
(Honestly speaking Rob Roy’s life is a lot to give the basic somehow. But at the very least I know why Luffy’s codename is now ‘Cattle’. I can’t find any connection between Rob Roy and owls though.)
Merope: A common name in Greek Mythology. One Merope for instance, was the queen of Corinth, the foster mother of Oedipus. Another Merope was a water-nymph. Another Merope was a princess who the hunter Orion was engaged with, and was later assaulted by. One last Merope to be mention here, is Merope of the seven Pleiades. The youngest of the seven sister, this Merope married the mortal Sisyphus, and thus became mortal herself.
(Looking at Merope’s official artwork, she lacks the well-known golden eyes of the rest of the attendants P3 onward. She’s has more in common with Belladonna, Nameless, and the Demon Painter. Okay, the last two don’t show their eyes, but Belladonna lacks the golden spark too! I think and hope Merope is someone to keep an eye on. hehe. eye on.)

Court of Darkness - A Test of Kingcraft
“There is one final test you must pass for Kingcraft before you are ready to rule,” said Lou to the seven princes. He pointed to a tall mirror mounted to a wall in his office. “Present yourself to this mirror before everyone. Within its reflection, you will see and hear your greatest fear.”
“I refuse,” said Guy. Several of the other consorts nodded in agreement, not wanting to be exposed before their peers.
“Irrelevant, Master Avari,” intoned Lou. “It is a requirement, and will be done.”
Below are the images and sounds that each prince witnesses in the mirror. Scenes below assume prince is not romantically involved with MC. SPOILERS WARNING FOR SOME CONSORTS

Guy
Jasper takes a sip of wine from a golden goblet. Guy nods as Jasper hands him the goblet, taking a long gulp. A minute later, he and Jasper clutch their mouths, gasping for air as their throats burn with delayed acting poison. Both men fall to the ground, writhing in pain as they hear a merciless laugh.
“It has worked. Avari is mine.”
Guy tries to pinpoint the voice—his step-mother, his father, a Qelsum courtier, a nameless assassin? He is unsure, it could be anyone; he has always be surrounded by enemies. The last image he sees is a sobbing Aquia; with his last thread of consciousness, he winces, knowing his younger brother will not survive the intrigues of the Avarian court.
Toa
His father Gilbert and sister Idina stare at Toa coldly. “You’ve been negligent in your duties Toa,” they say in union.
“But don’t worry,” coos Idina. “We know how to help you.” She nods her head to her father.
“You are distracted. Not devoting yourself to the glory of Qelsum,” says Gilbert. “We have taken care of the situation. He is no longer your concern.”
“He? What do you mean by—“
“TOA!” Toa whips his head around to find Knight in shackles, being dragged away by several guards, eyes widening with terror. “Don’t let them take me!”
“KNIGHT!” Toa lunges towards the struggling Knight, but is stopped by his father with magic.
“He is nothing but a piece of filth from the rookeries; a pet not worth saving.” Idina smirks. Toa is paralyzed, forced to watch as Knight, the boy he saved all those years ago from the slums, the only person who brings comfort and joy to his life now, is dragged away into the dark.
Lynt
Lynt stands in a royal chamber, surrounded by fear and mistrust. The Kings of Saligia accuse one another of sabatoge, their faces obscured in shadows of hate. The princes glare at one another, unwilling to listen.
“No war. Peace.” Lynt whispers sadly. No one hears him. He hunches inward, wondering if there was anything he could have done to prevent all this.
The angry voices grow louder. Kings and princes alike point accusing fingers at one another. The cries for vengence reckon. The drums of war reverberate in the air.
“PEACE! Isn’t there any other way?!” He screams, louder than anything he has ever vocalized. No one listens. He closes his eyes, hoping to sleep and never wake up again.
Fenn
Fenn stands in an empty room that is starkly white; not a single piece of art or furniture is inside. He is alone with his thoughts.  
“You must atone.” He hears his father’s voice. “No pleasure, no love, no one to accompany you. You are as you ever will be—a prisoner.”
Fenn closes his eyes and holds his hands to his ears. “No verbal retort? How odd.” He hears his father chuckle. “I hope Eva was worth it. But you already know the answer, don’t you?”
“No lies can save you now.”
Roy
Roy stands in an Invidian field of flowers, Grayson and Sherry on either side of him. Behind him, a crowd of people watch him in terror, pleading to their prince.
In front of him, a faceless army larger than any Invidia has seen approaches. Roy gasps as he sees the soldiers and their armor—they bear the Avari crest.
“Master Guy? What is this?” He summons his courage and walks closer to the army.
“My son holds a soft spot for you and your tiny country, though he hides it. I do not.” He hears Guy’s father Roc speak and gestures to a cart that holds a chained and gagged Guy. “Your weakness is to my benefit.” Roc raises a hand. Magical weaponry is shot at command; Grayson and Sherry fall to the ground.
“NO!” Roy crumbles to the ground, sobbing as Invidian flowers are soaked blood red. Guy watches on, helpless to stop.
“Prepare for invasion.” The sound of screams echos as townspeople flee in all directions.  
Lance
Lance is in a desert, fleeing from an army of automata, dragging his mother and Lutz frantically. His magical reserves are depleted.
“RUN!”
They run until their legs give way. As the machines lean in towards Lance, his mother and Lutz throw themselves on him to shield him.
“Creator, NO!” His mother’s and Lutz’s bodies shudder and collapse over his chest. With their dying breaths, they murmur their love for Lance. With a wave of unknown magic, he screams, and the machines stop, falling to piles of ash.
Were their lives worth saving yours? An unknown voice echoes. Don’t get too close to anyone else. Or else they will meet the same fate.
Rio
Rio stands in a desolate field, the sun withering away Voleri’s crops. Two hungry children, a boy and girl, with empty bowls tug at Rio’s shirt.
“I’m hungry,” wails a little girl. “My tummy is crying. Please make the food come back.”
“I’m trying!” Rio frantically takes a pail of water and dumps it on the last remaining potato plant. He desperately tills the soil, trying to keep the last green stalks thriving.
“Can’t you use magic to save us?” whispers the little girl.
“No,” says the boy. “This prince can’t. Not well.”
As Rio tills the dirt around the plant further, the leaves wither and fall off. Rio falls to his knees. The boy and girl put a hand on his shoulders.
“It’s OK. We know you tried.”
“But it wasn’t enough.” Rio cries.

Some thoughts on Roy
I was thinking about my first impressions of the COD characters and what I think of them now. After playing a character's route, I tended to like them more or have my opinion of them be completely unaffected. The only character I liked less after playing his route was Roy.
I see a lot of people talking about why they dislike Guy. Nobody ever mentions Roy, so I thought I'd type out why I like him less. (And if you're a fan of Roy, that's cool. Stan your fav!) Spoilers for Roy's book 1 below.
I He admires Guy. This is honestly the least of Roy's offenses, but still a red flag for me. Why would he want to be like the literal worst of the princes at the academy? To be fair, I think most people look up to Guy, but for the life of me I can't figure out why. I guess he's a magical prodigy or something, but he's also a giant douche canoe.  
II There are two quotes from Roy I really zeroed in on for this one. When MC catches up to Roy at the pier, he tells her, "I would quit the academy and vanish into a nameless, nothing never returning to my kingdom." MC, of course, changes his mind and the two go to Invidia. They go to Malik's house and while there, Roy says, "There is something I must say to you, Malik, but before that...I will undo the ancient magic cast upon you." NGL, during my first play though, I stopped playing at that point to say, "Wait. What the fuck, Roy!? You were supposed to do that before they left the Isle of Colde!" And then it immediately occurred to me that he had zero intention of releasing MC or the arcanists from his ancient magic before he dipped. He was just going to leave them mind-fucked! I know Roy felt bad about having used his ancient magic on them. But, idk. When I mess up, the first thing I do after apologizing is try to find a way to make it right. Roy had ample time to release them from his ancient magic after the exhibition was over while they were all on the same island. He chose not to. Maybe he had good reason for that. Maybe he didn’t. Either way, it was a shitty thing to do.
III I'm going to go back to one of the quotes I used earlier. Roy said, "I would quit the academy and vanish into a nameless, nothing never returning to my kingdom." I also stopped playing the game at that point just long enough to say, "I don't think that's how monarchies work." This wasn't going to make him an ex-prince. This was going to make him a missing prince. A missing prince leaving behind a depressed familiar, a sister who would worry herself sick wondering if he's okay, a valet who (if he didn't go actively looking for Roy) would spend all his time hoping Roy is safe wherever he is, and two parents who wouldn't know another nights rest until their son came home. And what about the other princes? Rio would spend he rest of his life thinking this was his fault because the person who messed up the exhibition was from his country. I can't remember if it's in this route or in the story events, but we find out that Invidian royalty is closer to its citizenry than some of the other kingdoms, so some of these people would know Roy kinda well. They're definitely going to worry about him too. (I do want to throw out there that your mileage may vary with this one because some people might be able to empathize with Roy. I, however, have been on the Sherry end of things. I have someone in my life that thinks, "I'm a fuck up; it doesn't matter what I do," and then makes bad decisions that have had some bad consequences. It's frustrating and exhausting, and I just couldn't date someone who would put me through that.)
IV Roy uses his ancient magic on the arcanists to make them make magical weapons, in what Roy believes to be, against their will. I can only think of two reasons he would do that, and they're both problematic (well, for a guy who's going to run a kingdom one day at least). 1.) He didn't have time to negotiate. As far as I remember, this is something Roy's wanted for a long time and there wasn't a time limit on getting Invidia into the alliance. Roy could've taken years to convince the arcanists to agree to his plan by explaining how much Invidia would benefit from this membership and why he thought magical weapons was their best chance at getting it. I dunno, it made the whole exhibition feel kinda rushed to me. Maybe he saw MC, thought she'd be helpful as a backup plan, and got antsy? Which is still odd to me because they didn't even explore ways for her to get home in his route. She was 100% stuck there for a while and I don't remember Roy having much competition from the other consorts. Anyway, it's not a great look to force people to do stuff because of poor planning. 2.) He just didn't want to bother convincing them. Roy should've given them a chance to say yes on their own. If he had, he would've found out then and there that they did in fact want to help him. At the very least, it would've saved him from feeling bad about it later (and also Rio's confrontation, but I don't think he predicted that). I don't think Roy will be able to use his ancient magic on people/rulers from other nations to get his way in the future. Not that he physically couldn't; just that it would be frowned upon if he did. Anyway, this would've been a good opportunity for him to practice his negotiating skills. They're his countrymen. If there's anyone willing to forgive him for making mistakes (like stepping out of line or taking things too far), it's going to be them.
He also uses his ancient magic on MC thinking he would need her power at some point. To his credit (and this might vindicate him for some people), he ultimately refused to use MC's power in the moment he could've benefited from it the most. However, him using his ancient magic on his paramour would've been the part I would've lost all trust in him and peaced out. What happens if he wants to get married or start a family and his partner wasn't ready? Maybe he would've learned his lesson from what happened in his book 1 and wouldn't use his ancient magic on his paramour again. I do think he would want his partner to genuinely want the same things as him, but I would wonder if he might fall back on old habits if he started to feel impatient or anxious. Just having to ask those questions feel like a red flag to me though.
All that being said though, I don’t think Roy’s the worst consort. I rate them on a 5 point scale (Love, Like, Neutral, Dislike, Hate). He went from the Like category to the Dislike category along with Guy (who only got bumped up from the Hate category because Jasper needed to be in the shame basement all by himself).

Summary:  You and he spent the next week split between the car and the hospital. Your brother woke up in the afternoon of the second day and was released two days after that.
The next day, they released Mamaw purely because she kept demanding to be let go. He was in the room when she lost her patience with the shy Beta nurse and to say that Mamaw's Alpha voice shocked him out of his boots would be an understatement.
And then everybody went home.
Things felt so close to normal, just a hair's width away from right. The sternness in your features remained, however. The forlorn way you smiled at your family lingered. As long as the AFM were out there, you'd be on alert, afraid they'd come for your kin again. He knew those looks all too well from his time overseas. Hypervigilance, they called it.

Your question unnerved Clyde, despite his bone-deep fatigue. He'd expected that the first thing you asked would be how Mamaw was doing, or your brother. Maybe even him.
But no. Your concern was the arsonist his sister folded into the family.
Part of him wanted to be angry. The kind of anger that was irrational and dramatic. He wanted to be so damn pissed at you for leaving, for not asking about him or your family, for scaring him shitless. Mostly for walking in here like there was nothing goddamn wrong in the world.
He couldn't do it, regardless of how much he wanted it. He couldn't find a shred of anger inside all that want for it because he was too damn relieved you were alright. Bloody knuckles and black eyes, he could deal with; a missing or deceased version of you? Never.
"He's at the bar," Mellie, who’d come in with coffee, said, breaking the awkward silence though not the tension. "Said he'd come by after closin'."
"Thanks Mellie."
The hollowness in your voice made him ache. Instead of saying how mad he wanted to be or how worried you’d made him, he got up and left the room. He hoped you’d call after him, but nothing came. Maybe you didn’t need him here.
Clyde felt more empty now than he could ever remember feeling before he knew you. Life was different. There was before today, and there would be after today, but nothing would be the same. And you’d shut him out. He knew it down to the soles of his feet. A nameless distance developed between you and him. Scowling, he blinked back tears as he ducked into the small but full-to-bursting waiting room.
"I think y'all can go home now." His voice came out with a tired, worn croak. "Your Alpha is here, and I'm sure she'll call with an update as soon as she can. Y'all go on and rest."
Half of him wanted to leave, too. He wanted the irritation to take over so he could go home and get some sleep. Fuck Roy. Fuck Joe Bang. Fuck you, and fuck this day.

Summary (via IMDB)  Sam and Dean make a stop at Blackwater Ridge and end up helping a young woman and her brother find their other brother, who mysteriously disappeared, while on a camping trip, in the woods.

Our first Then-Now segment.
November 2, 1983- This, combined with Jess' tragic death, establishes it's been 22 years between the Winchester's lives being ruined by fires. The Pilot, oddly enough, didn't make the significance of the dates clear. I chock it up to the Pilot having so many drafts. that some plot relevant stuff got lost in the shuffle.
And, now our title card has sound! The first time we see SPN's logo, it's completely silent. Again, constant tweaks between episodes.
Blackwater Ridge
Lost Creek, Colorado
We open on 3 people camping, as one dude calls his sister Haley to deliver exposition.
Of course they're being hunted in the woods, as the camera gives us a monster's eye view.
Haley's brother (still nameless) is reading when one of his friends is attacked. Now, knowing this production crew, there must be some significance to the book he's reading-
-it's Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces. Who, in this book, wrote of the Hero's Journey.
I- I'm, I can't, Kripke, no. It's only episode 2, slow down. Please. You're getting ahead of yourself.
Gary's fucked. Bye, Gary.

Confirmed, Jess died on 11/2.
Sam expresses grief, and then regret, in not telling Jess the truth, as we're treated to a bad jump scare that only got me the first time.
Dean offering to let Sam drive, to get his mind off of things, asking how Sam's doing. Doesn't buy it when Sam shrugs it off.
To find Jess' killer, they have to find John, who is nowhere to be found. 
Connecting the dots already between Mary and Jess.
Blackwater Ridge
Lost Creek, Colorado
A bunch of abandoned gold and silver mines, hmmm...
Haley sounds like a worried older sibling. I'm sure Dean can relate.
Sam assumes Dean wants to get in Haley's pants, while Sam just wants to find John as quickly as possible. Dean notes his brother's change in attitude to "shoot first and ask questions later".
Tommy's his name. Tommy Collins. Alright.
Oof, Haley's really the older sibling. Looks like there's a 2nd brother, too, that she's cooking for. Reminds me of flashbacks of younger Dean, providing for Sam. Haley's very observant, as well, asking for ID and noting Dean's unusual car.
Parents gone, only "two brothers and me", not "us three". Call it clunky writing, or call it Haley identifying herself  not as her sibling's equal, but as the one in charge.
Dean connecting with Haley on her urgent need to find Tommy, "I think I know how you feel." At first, one would think he's just referring to John, but everything we've seen thus far from Haley screams as someone searching for a little sibling/feeling parental.
Haley shows Sam and Dean Tommy's last message (recorded on his fucking flip phone. Tommy would be the kind of person to use a go-pro or a selfie stick). Every 23 years. Alright, first off, I love how cryptic the Pilot was about the monster reveal, while here it's just 'Wendigo' in the title. Second, the similarity between the Wendigo and what John's ultimately hunting: a creature killing every 20 or so years. Maybe the slight difference of 22 years vs. 23 made John leave. Or, he figured out it was a Wendigo, and dumped the case on his kids without any heads-up.
Sam and Dean interview a Wendigo survivor from '59, someone who was so young when it happened, no one believed him. It all got swept under the rug as a Grizzly attack.
A little detail I'm noticing now; the Wendigo is vulnerable to fire, that's why it left the kid in '59 alive. The boy had fallen asleep in front of the cabin fireplace. And earlier, the Wendigo, just before killing Tommy's friend, hesitated at the sight of the campfire.
Sam and Dean figuring out the creature has to be corporeal, ruling out spirits and demons as potential culprits, means John probably knew, too. Knowing John's looking for the Yellow Eyed Demon this whole time...
Sam wants to tell Haley the truth to keep her from going into the woods, and Dean counters with this:
Dean: "Her brother's missing, Sam. She's not gonna just sit this out."
To further my point from before; the focus is on the worry a guardian would have for a dependent. Dean sees John as the man with all the answers. Dean relates to Haley not because his worries over John are equal to Haley's about Tommy, but because he's probably fretted over Sam the same way. An alternative, and equally valid point, though, would be Dean sympathizing with Haley over losing 'Family', as I brought up in 1X01, when Dean insists to Sam he's not only a Hunter, deep down, but a Winchester.
Sam: "Finding Dad's not enough? Now we gotta babysit, too?" (at the idea of Haley coming with them on the Hunt). The glare Dean gives in response to this shows how much Sam is missing the point.
The guy Haley hired is just trying to do his job. I used to be annoyed with him, but with this rewatch, I'm more annoyed at Dean. Dean's the one who insists they can't tell anyone their secret, and yet they (Sam and Dean) could've benefited from cooperating with Haley's group. It makes Dean come across as an arrogant know-it-all who dismisses the help of an expert despite being on such unfamiliar terrain.
We catch up with Tommy, who sees his friend get eaten. That's gonna need some therapy.
Dean starts sizing up the guide Haley hired, Roy, and Dean's doing the whole "Well, has anything ever hunted you back?" shtick. Right as Roy saves Dean's ass from a bear trap.
After Haley confronts Dean (who up to this point has just been giving Roy a hard time), he tells her part of the truth; he and Sam are really brothers, and they're looking for their father. Telling Haley this is the "most honest I've (Dean) been with a woman. Ever."
M&Ms as provisions. Of course, Dean. Only a 26 year old can get away with that.
Roy calls the group over to Tommy's campsite, which is wrecked.
Haley finds Tommy's phone. It must seem like any chance of getting in touch with her brother is gone for good. Dean comes up and assures her Tommy could still be alive. I'm sure Dean's felt this many times with John, especially now.
The Wendigo mimics a man's voice, lures everyone away, and takes the distraction as an opportunity to destroy/steal the group's supplies.
Putting it all together, Sam figures out it's a Wendigo. He tries to talk the group into going back to the cars, not giving the whole truth, and Roy's, rightfully, fed up. Think of it from Roy's perspective; these two actual babies come waltzing in, clearly lying about their government job, almost getting themselves caught in a bear trap, Sam and Dean must seem like a couple of walking disasters.
Poor Roy. Your greatest crime has been using logic.
Now, thiiis, referring to the Wendigo as not only a Hunter, but the perfect Hunter.
Dean: "Nobody likes a skeptic, Roy." Dean, you were pulling that shit with Roy, first. "Well, has anything ever hunted you back?" Having all the answers doesn't make you any less of a douche.
Sam and Dean come to the conclusion John has probably never set foot in Lost Creek. I still stand by the idea John checked it out, and then ruled it out. Sam and Dean have so little to go off of, in finding John, they're grasping at straws.
"Saving people, hunting things. The family business." Connecting what the Winchesters do as Hunters, and the Wendigo itself is the perfect Hunter. More on that, later...
Why doesn't John just call, play it to them straight? Because Sam won't listen to John, but he will listen to Dean, who's bought John's philosophy hook, line and sinker. And, John's so obsessed with revenge he sees nothing wrong with this.
The Wendigo once again tries to trick the group.
Bye, Roy.
It's the next day, and everyone left tries to regroup.
Sam and Dean fill Haley and her remaining brother in on Wendigos. Since the only instance of people being up in Lost Creek were miners, I'm guessing the Wendigo was a worker who got lost/trapped in a tunnel collapse with only their fellow miners to keep them company. And fed.
So, Wendigos are creatures who were once people, but give in to cannibalism. They then develop an insatiable hunger, but never turn wild; they're still very much Human.
Hi, Roy. Nice to see you're still hanging around.
Dean and Haley have been kidnapped, who could have ever seen this coming?
Dean's trail of M&Ms leads Sam and Haley's brother to an abandoned mine. Sam and the brother fall through the floor, finding the Wendigo's kitchen. They find Dean, Haley, as well as Tommy.
Dean volunteering himself as bait is tragically typical.
For once, Sam has to look up (at the Wendigo).
Okay, real quick, I appreciate the time and energy it took to make the Wendigo costume. For obvious budgetary reasons, SPN relies on monsters that conveniently look Human, so it's a real treat for the baddie to actually look monstrous.
Haley: "Must you cheapen the moment?" ladies, gents and distinguished individuals, this is Dean propositioning someone without saying a word and using only his facial expressions. People are gonna get confused over the next 14 seasons over Dean not verbalizing he wants to fuck, but I'm happy to say he's been doing it from the start. Bonus points is that Haley instead gives Dean a kiss on the cheek, which seems to fluster Dean, implying he wasn't actually expecting her to respond. Almost like Dean's putting up a front, or something.
Sam takes Dean up on his offer to drive, how sweet.
Post Episode Meta/Notes:
(These were all written during the episode, so if the flow feels weird, that's why. I just want to try sticking meta related stuff at the end)
(After Sam and Dean realize John was never in Lost Creek) Another thing, though, is this shows a similarity between John and Sam; with a 'bigger' hunt in mind, they're willing to let 'smaller' cases pass by. Call it selfish (it kinda is) call it what you will. Now, look at Dean. He may be arrogant, yes, but he can step into someone else's shoes and understand they need help. Haley's just gonna blunder into the Wendigo's clutches, otherwise. This is an example of, despite the separation of time, John and Sam have a lot in common.
(After going into the origins of the Wendigo) A person gives up their Humanity to become the perfect Hunter, but is forever consumed by hunger... for flesh, or revenge?
(After Dean and Haley get kidnapped) OH WAIT I'VE GOT IT ALL WRONG.
Roy is a stand-in for John. Older Hunter that's been at it for as long as Sam's been alive, acting condescendingly towards the younger Hunters, undermining their ability. Dean's giving Roy a hard time because he can't and won't say the same to John's face.
After that whole speech from Dean about all John knows being in his journal, and having that book bestowed upon him and Sam, it started to click for me.

Just to be clear, the nickname thingy is just for people in their universe, in the other universe ( where the isekai girl lives ) people have actual name, like :
Akron : the isekai girl who was born in the wrong body, this name is her male counterpart
Eniora : the younger sister of Akron
Terra : an anímale tribe important figure, she was one of the leading heads who set a war on filontinpolis (they all went back to their dimension after the fight btw)
Tox : also from the animals tribe people, she works at a brothel ( and is a part of a rebellious organization who want to overthrow the current government in the name of equality for all )
V : a human artificer who was raised by a dwarf. She is really good at her work and is magicless
Roy : a homeless magicless boy born after the (for now nameless) organization made their intentions clear, will grow up and lead the ‘soulles strays’ group with his friend against both the kingdom government and the organization
Fyi : Roy friend, was born magicless in a noble family, thus they threw her out once it was clear she won’t develop magic
Treg : an unclear being? Not entirely human, maybe some kind of animal tribe mutations? (if only they knew…) treg gender isn’t clear and Akron refuse to misgender them, while V just call them an it. Btw they always wear some weird fur that cover most of them

What’s right and wrong (to my tastes anyway) on comicbook TV.
This is going to be a little bit of a love letter/ report card of hate for comic related TV shows.   And, honestly, a rant.
TV is a different breed. Any discussion of this subject has to begin with that point. You have to acknowledge that they cannot just mirror comic stories.  You have to give them the freedom to write their own stories.
That said, the entire point of basing a TV show on a comic is that it will start with an established fan base. If you honor the source material, you gain.   If you shit on it , you lose.
The Walking Dead may be the best example of this.  The characters from the comics show up. They are generally the same characters, but each character’s chronology is different. The show has taken a different direction on TV and that changes their path to death. I love that. That is a healthy relationship with your source material.  That gives your comic readers and your new TV fans something to watch.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is the polar opposite.  It is really a pretty bad show I have binge watched. Almost every character in the show is a jacked up version of their comic selves or doesn’t exist in the comics. Sure, there are some exceptions.  They got Martin Stein right, although his dialogue is way too whiny.  Arguably they more or less got the hawks right. The guy who played Vandal Savage was a good actor, although IMO way too short.  It would be almost totally unwatchable if not for the fact that they have pretty good actors.  They floated a comic based on it and it totally flopped.  That could mean something about the TV show, or nothing at all.  In this instance I think it is your dead mine canary telling you that comic fans have tuned out because your writers are not universally good,  They have jacked up the characters turning off the fans, and that you probably have the wrong characters on the show. 
I would argue that the LOT would profit greatly from a comic-style reboot.  THe Arrow-verse is well suited for reboots. 
Have something irrevocably change the timeline and recast your time travelers.  You only NEED Sarah Lance and I’d argue, Rip Hunter, out of the existing cast.  The other 5 can rotate new characters in and out. I’d love to see Jonah Hex get pulled into different eras, eventually abandoned in the future,  and meet his own stuffed body.  Why not have Booster Gold show up and (intentionally) accidentally screw up missions to yield better results.  Bring in the LOSH for a guest appearance.  There is no reason to restore vandal Savage.  T.O. Morrow, the Lord of Time, Good and Bad Chronos are all ripe players available for season long baddies. I would argue it is time for something new. 
The Flash seems to bounce between fresh and tired. I can’t tell if the status quo or the writers yield the tired stories. While the Central City status quo is perfect for telling “Supervillian X shows up and flash saves the day” stories, it feels dated now. Plus no one really likes Barry and Iris dating as brother and sister. The one good thing about the flashpoint reboot timeline is that it temporarily cleaned up that awkward relationship into one that TV fans could tolerate. 
I think they would be wise to have some new character unwind the original flashpoint (the one created by the reverse flash) and leave Iris and Barry to have a normal committed relationship, even a married one, with Joe seen as Barry’s beloved mentor.  Keep the characters people like and flush the dead weight story baggage that fans don’t like.  You can bring back the popular Officer Thorne. The guy who plays the reverse flash is fantastic and really hasn’t been given top scripts to go off.   Here is a Zoom who as a scientist from the future, might (should?) have some fairly big concerns about killing "Historical figures” (although he didn’t show any in the past).  The danger of Zoom without the bodycount. 
You can kill off Barry’s dad to make it a stronger relationship and that could be an impetus to explore Keystone City in Jay Garricks’ earth and get out of Central City for  a while.  DO Jay Garrick and Jesse Quick remember the flash and everything that happened?  I would think so, so you don’t have to revisit Zoom.  That might be neat for Barry and Vibe to start calling Jay Garrick’s world Earth 2 as they wouldn’t  remember naming them.   You could then toss the comic fans a bone by introducing the crime syndicate on Jesse's now Earth 3.  But that is admittedly, robbing peter to pay paul.    It would be somewhat befuddling for easily confused TV folk. But that is just some random thoughts, not a prescription like I mentioned for LOT.
Green Arrow is a series where they took everything cool from the comic, added new pieces, and built a new coherent world from it. The dialogue and stories have gone downhill since season one and team arrow is way too big, but they is a good nucleus there. A LOT reboot could tighten that up too.  Mr. Terrific could fall into Jay Garrick’s world and meet his boyfriend there that he just likes better.   Mad Dog could be an Arrow adversary. Ras Al Ghul could stay dead.  Ray, Roy and Speedy could also migrate to earth 2 or 3. John could get back both kids in the reset, which might push him into semi- retirement as a hero.  That could clear the table for fresh new villains to threaten Star City. 
I really like the supergirl series.  It’s not that they do everything right, it’s just a another show where they have a very likable star.  And they really cater to the comic fan.   They write the show from a premise akin to “Hey what if we took the core 1/3 characters of the DCU to populate this universe and then had Superman almost always away on special projects leaving Supergirl to save the day?  How would things shake out?  Anything Superman would normally handle, we will give to her. ”
The writing feels much more organic than on LOT.  I don’t like the guy who plays the Martian Manhunter, but I love that the Martian Manhunter is in the show.  (note you could always “kill off”  that identity). Mon-el is a nice add.  Bringing in the LOSH is very much mirroring what I perceive to be the concept of the show.
Agent Carter has gone by the wasteside and that was a shame. I think the show really blew it by not getting more into the era. Why not have the 1950′s avengers or Marvel’s 40′s Heroes trickle through?  A hearthrob alien from Venus with advanced technology and questionable motives? A killer robot? Venus? Namor and Namora? The Original Black widow?  The Torch? All handled by Agent Carter with an occasional assist from the wasp and Ant Man?  Their directive shunned their comic audience, IMO.
Agents of Sheild has also gotten into trouble for similar reasons. I get that Marvel didn’t want to give them access to the main MU heroes, so they tried to build around a cast instead and an assigned shit storyline eater ---the inhumans, but I think they didn’t make the right arguments.   Ulysses Klaw would have made an awesome villain for shield for the last season....adding to his impact in the black panther movie.  They should have focused on minor villains with International operations.  The Kangaroo.  Batroc the Leaper would have been a screen munching over the top villain straight out of a bond movie.  He could have a plan to kill his nemesis, Captain America, that shield could thwart.  I have always been partial to the mandrill, (and his sister Dansen Macabre), and the success of the purple man character tapping a nerve suggests it is high time for a little monkey business.  
I get that getting the Ghost Rider right was an expensive investment dictating they used that a lot for a season.   The storyline just wasn’t that good.  Another Mort. Maybe guest star the shroud.  Werewolf by night.
Like LOT, the AOS show is really built on only a small portion of their cast.   Three characters since they offed Grant --- Mockingbird, Daisy, and Coulter.  Really everyone else SHOULD be nameless agents who come and go.  It’s a spy show.  You don’t have to have ongoing arcs each week. It’s great to be the prisoner, but  you can be the 1960′s Avengers some weeks.  I think they lost sight of that.
That’s all I really got today.  End rant.
