I might or might not have started drafting a ted lasso fic about keeley finding out roy and rebecca fucked when she was married to rupert so thank you for this delicious brainworm!!!!!!

I'M DELIGHTED. ngl, I love Roy/Rebecca... they aren't on screen together a lot but when they ARE they're on fire. She absolutely had an affair with the captain of her scumbag husband's beloved football club while her marriage was breaking down. TO ME. And I love that for her. She DESERVED some good National Legend Cock™ on top of taking said beloved club from her husband in the divorce.

Anyway I'd love to read it!! And until we're explicitly shown otherwise I'll simply keep believing this is what happened

17 . Your favorite character to write this year?

I think I still loved writing Rebecca and Ted and Beard and Roy as much as ever (and how could I ever choose okay but it's Ted, obviously [to me] [probably obvious based on my fics])! But I think I get to add Keeley to this list after this year (although I loved writing her in 2021 and 2022 too, but I wasn't as driven to, maybe, and it wasn't something I found as fun?). I think my favorite most fun moment of writing any TL character was writing Keeley's drunken thought processes in "anticipate" (Keeley/Rebecca/Ted). Yeah! Keeley!

20 . Which work of yours have you reread the most?

This year it's got to be "Last night in town," (Ted/Rebecca) because I posted it as a WIP over about 6 weeks. Even though the whole thing is well under 15k, I was really anxious not to introduce any continuity errors or mix up the details, so I kept rereading the whole thing. (Fun fact that I'm sure you know since you're a multichapter queen: you can procrastinate on writing new chapters by reading your old chapters as research!) I gave myself some timeline grace (I mean the source material is from Jason Sudeikis et al. and I absolutely share in their belief that time isn't necessarily """real"""), but I did want the general timeline and trajectory of all the visits to make sense. I knew exactly how many times they visited each other or traveled to be together and in which months!

In terms of just reading something for sheer fun and/or sheer thinkin' about writing, I think the story I reread the most from this year might be "days in love" (Rebecca/Roy, Keeley/Ted, future love square). It was a gift for a friend and I wrote specifically to her wonderful prompts, but a lot of elements of that story ended up being things that are specifically very comforting/appealing to me and so rereading it makes me feel a kinda dumb/calm happiness even if I'm the one who wrote it. :)

29 . Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

This is a silly one, but there's a passage from "days in love" that I had so much fun writing, not least because it was a bunch of characters from Apple TV+ having an experience that is distinctly Netflix:

It was Monday, February 13. They’d returned home the night before. The four of them—that’s how she thought of them—were at Keeley’s, ostensibly selecting something to watch from Netflix’s endless and overwhelming personalized categories. Keeley’s Netflix account was subject to some fascinating algorithms. Every category she scrolled through seemed to get more surreal and specific: ADORABLE ANIMALS THAT DON’T DIE AT THE END and COMING OF AGE IN LATE-STAGE CAPITALISM and WHAT TO EAT ON THE AMALFI COAST. It all started to look the same after a while, but Ted kept saying his Netflix liked to suggest this or that category too.

I need a fanfic where everyday after four am training, Jamie sends a “Roy-cast” to the team chat letting them know Roy’s general mood for the day and what he predicts practice is going to look like for the day.

When Roy takes over as gaffer, he stops the private training with Jamie to avoid accusations of favoritism. Within two weeks the team beg him to start back up again because:

1) him and Jamie are sniping at each other again and while it’s not loan season bad, it’s making everyone anxious and clearly the two of them need that time together to get it out of their system everyday, and more importantly,

2) they need the Roy-cast back because it’s fucking with everyone’s breakfast choices and now Will doesn’t know when to have extra towels ready or to make a larger batch of sport drink.

a/n: STOP I ADORE THIS REQUEST and also first ted lasso req yay!! also also i’m SO sorry for the lack of posting!! i’ve been kinda burnt out as of recent BUT hopefully i should be back on a regular-ish basis soon :-) ily all 🫶🫶

rebecca welton had never been one to shy away from challenges. as the owner of afc richmond, she tackled everything from skeptical board members to spirited fans. but there was one challenge that had her completely stumped: you.

you, with your bright smile and genuine kindness, had unknowingly captured rebecca's heart. she had tried everything to show her feelings, but you remained blissfully oblivious.

it started with flowers. rebecca sent you an elegant bouquet of your favorite flowers, along with a card that read, "thinking of you. - rebecca." you thanked her with a smile, saying how thoughtful she was and how much you loved having fresh flowers in your office. she hoped you might pick up on the hint, but you seemed to take it as a friendly gesture.

next, she invited you out for dinner. a candle-lit table at one of the finest restaurants in town, where the two of you shared an exquisite meal and deep conversation. as rebecca looked into your eyes, she felt sure that this would be the moment you realized her intentions. but when you hugged her goodbye and thanked her for the "great friendly evening," she knew her subtle hints were not getting through.

the team started to notice too. keeley pulled her aside one day and asked, "so, any progress with you-know-who?" to which rebecca sighed, shaking her head. even the players were catching on, often giving you knowing looks when you two were together. but you remained completely unaware of the undercurrent of affection in her gestures.

one day, after yet another failed attempt at getting through to you, rebecca finally reached her breaking point. she invited you to her house for dinner, hoping that a more intimate setting would help you understand her feelings. but when you arrived, you greeted her with the same cheerful smile, completely missing the nervous tension in her eyes.

as the evening progressed, she grew more frustrated. you chatted happily about your day, blissfully unaware of the turmoil she was experiencing. finally, rebecca couldn't take it anymore.

"do you like me?" she blurted out, interrupting your story about a funny incident at training with dani.

you blinked, taken aback by the sudden question. "of course, i do. you're one of my best friends."

"no," rebecca said, her voice shaking slightly. "i mean, do you like me more than that? romantically?"

the room fell silent as you processed her words. realization dawned on your face, and you felt a rush of emotions. how had you missed all the signs? the flowers, the dinners, the lingering touches - it all made sense now.

"oh my god, rebecca," you said, standing up and moving closer to her. "i had no idea. i'm so sorry i was so clueless."

rebecca looked at you, hope and vulnerability in her eyes. "so, what do you think? do you feel the same way?"

you reached out and took her hands in yours. "i do. i really do. i just didn't realize... i didn't see it."

rebecca let out a relieved laugh, pulling you into a tight hug. "you have no idea how happy that makes me," she whispered into your hair.

you pulled back slightly to look into her eyes. "can we start over? properly this time?"

rebecca smiled, leaning in to press a soft kiss to your lips. "i’d like that very much."

from that moment on, there was no more confusion. you and rebecca were finally on the same page, ready to embark on a new chapter together, hand in hand.
