Summary

Castiel knows many things about Biggerson’s. He knows the original restaurant was a roadside diner opened in 1964. He knows that Biggerson’s is one of a handful of national restaurant chains with a location in all forty-eight continental states. He knows that the fry cook in this particular Biggerson’s is named Rob, and has a nicotine addiction. He knows that his waitress goes by Gerry, even though her full name is Geraldine, and she is angry because his coffee refills and late afternoon pancakes won’t make her as much money as the family of four seated at the next table. He knows Dean’s usual order by heart—the heart attack burger with a coke and a side of fries.

And, most importantly, Castiel knows that all of these things make a Biggerson’s restaurant an excellent place to hide.

There's actually a whole Discussion going on on Twitter about how popular stuff is not necessarily what is talked about online. So a show that is marketed is not necessarily the one with the highest viewer count.

Or: twitter discovered the incredibly transphobic The Good Doctor episode and found out about network television.

@roxyandelsewhere mentioned this in the replies of that post too yeah! which like on the one hand, it’s always good to be reminded that twitter is not “the digital public square” nor does it represent public opinion (thank god for that lol). on the other I don’t know if I’m just looking back on game of thrones nostalgically because it was a cultural moment I participated in over the course of multiple years, but I remember that shit being everywhere offline. A very unscientific metric I’ve been using is, does this show appear in the stickers that people put on their cars? You used to see people put their favourite house crests, or “I drink and I know things” quotes, chaos is a ladder, all of that shit was plastered on people’s cars for basically the entire time GoT was running (and then disappeared immediately the moment it ended lol). That felt truly normie in the sense that there was enough visible public participation in watching game of thrones that it felt like “a thing we were all watching together.” Succession definitely fails by that metric despite it being omnipresent on twitter/tumblr. the only other new show I can think of that has reached bumper-sticker status is the mandalorian lol, I see “this is the way” and baby yoda shit everywhere now. But I guess that’s also true for MCU? Idk maybe I’m becoming mired in my own framing of the question, I’m just wondering if there are any comparatively popular prestige drama shows post-GoT that gets the level of visible public engagement that GoT had. There’s such a massive amount of shit to watch now, and most of it is sequestered on one of the many dozens of streaming platforms, that it feels like culture is both at once mass produced and hyper individualised in a way that feels different from 7-10 years ago. But again I don’t know if that’s accurate or if it’s just me being online brained in some way

Anything you've been doing lately: reading reading mostly reading! recently completed pjõl, currently on webnovels. I've also been collecting references for my art wips but not really working on them ....

Anything you intend to do later: more reading, this one's neverending. really really want to finish my wips in fact I'm setting a goal for finishing one in the next few days 👀. in the time I've spent not working on them my vision has been updating. also... it's probably time to start planning and preparing for school to begin again :'(. some admin to be done, and uh I also have ask/tag games I haven't completed xD

Anything you recently watched or played: for movies, other than ATSV, The Addiction (1995) which I watched with my friend <33 (hi I'm gonna tag you later too). Sexiest visual language for metaphorical vampirism I've seen so far. as for games, I'm still iterating different routes in Disco Elysium which means it's hard for me to fully get into other games atm even though I've a few waiting for me to continue?

Anything you want to watch or play: after Disco Elysium I want to finish Portal 2, Night in the Woods etc. Hades doesn't feel complete to me until I get the last statue on 32 heat but because of trying the mod on a new save I'm... stuck playing a new save? or something? I got Pathologic and haven't tried it yet and I have .... many other games in my steam... I've a real backlog there because of steam sales. I wanna finish watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer but I forgot which season I stopped at. Also want to keep up with the wild news of Riverdale. And I have a whole list of movies I want to watch by the end of this holiday! You may be surprised to know, (and I swear this list existed prior to recent events 😭) I haven't watched Titanic yet.

this is going to be a real mixed bag between like. mutuals I know well and mutuals I know nothing about. I can't tag everyone nor no one, so I'm randomising.

hi nonnie! so the best thing to do is to just get a new interest/something to obsess over haha and then the new blogs will slowly find their way onto your dash. i've been changing obsessions for the past 12 years i've been here so my dash is a bit of a mix nowadays. i also recommend blacklisting hl related things so that you're not seeing them and you can keep the people you follow :) that's what i did cause i didn't want to get rid of my mutuals completely and it's done wonders to my dash. anyway, if you're looking for people who post in other areas, here are some i can recommend!
