It's really, extremely close between yaz and darius, but I'll have to go with yaz (why are 90% of all my favourite characters emotionally repressed?) But yeah she's super cool and strong and her character and development are super interesting and together with sammy they're just cuteness incarnate

scrunkly (my "baby", character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): darius my baby dino nerd i will never let anyone hurt you (i want to turn him into a plushie and squeeze the life out of him). Also poor dude was going thru this shit at age twelve wtf get him some therapy

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/ underappreciated fave): I really don't see very much love for sammy, sure it's not like people dislike her or anything, but i feel like her character often gets glossed over (is that even an expression that exists?)

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won't shut up about it for a week): dave and roxie (it's two but who cares) honestly I have so much respect for them, they did their very best regarding the circumstances and i will not let anyone say anything negative about them

poor little meow meow ("problematic"/ unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): hmmmm kenji?? He has some pretty good wet cat vibes in the latest seasons. yes I know there's also early ben but I don't know, maybe because I watched them a long time ago??? I know the fandom adores ben and I love him too but I can't really relate

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): it seems like a habit of mine, to always torment my favourite characters the most. yeah it's between darius and yaz again, what can you do. there's just so many good and creative ways to hurt them, and they're already traumatised so they basically do half the setup on their own

Homestuck thoughts (omg I love homestuck homestuck beloved bbg)

THE ASK I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR FOR MONTHS YAY!!!!! I'm gonna format these in a (really long sorry lmao) list cause that's the most easily digestible format I feel :3

also I've only read up to not far into act 5 part 2 so there is admittedly a lot I don't know :P I definitely don't have the anything close to the most objective opinions on junk

JADE IS MY FAVORITE I LOVE HER!!!!! I threw together a crappy little jade cosplay once I made a little tail it was so cute :3. honestly Jade is the biggest motivator I have for actually reading Homestuck cause I love her sosoososo much and I'm really interested to see how she develops!!!!!! every day I wake up and the first thing I look at is a print of her on my wall I love you jade harley

speaking of characters I like I love nepeta SO MUCH and like 80% of the reason why I haven't read more Homestuck and choose to consume fan content instead is cause I'm scared for her to die :(

jadepeta is horrifically underrated (I know they don't interact really shhhh) and probably my favorite Homestuck ship :3!!!! doggirl catgirl yuri! they can be cringe together! they parallel each other in their loneliness!!!! they can help each other know that they ARE wanted and needed and loved!!!!! what more could you want!!!!!!!!

i think a really big reason why I'm so attached to the beta kids is cause they remind me of me and my bestest friends tbh

I have no opinions on the alpha kids honestly. just haven't gotten to where they're introduced and haven't looked into them that much :P. I think roxy's gonna wind up being my favorite of them though she seems so silly!

I think my favorite thing about homestuck so far is how big the theme of loneliness is? especially with the beta kids (in my mind at least). like I don't think any of them mention friends besides each other and Jade literally lives on an island completely alone. I like how all the beta kids deal with this loneliness in slightly different ways too! and then troll society is so hostile that it's almost impossible to make meaningful connections. I'm just a sucker for when a group of characters are outcasts and weirdos but they find community in each other! :) gotta be one of my favorite tropes

another aspect I really like about Homestuck is how it takes things that exist in videogames only and adapts them to its world (captchalouges are the first example I think of)

Decided that I'm gonna make individual headcanon posts for all the characters, just so people can get a sense of how I write them! Up first, since she's the arguably most underrated character in the game, here's Chica!

General Headcanons

Being the mascot for Mazercise, she's programmed to be bubbly, encouraging, and extremely energetic. Probably uses the most power out of the Glamrocks for this reason, and has to recharge the most often.

Probably leads fitness workshops/sessions in Mazercise or an adjacent studio sometimes, that anyone can book onto - child or adult.

Like mentioned in the last headcanons post, she's always moving, whether it's swaying slightly when she's standing still to sprinting at full speed. She's fast, a lot more so than her previous counterparts, and she has this almost too enthusiastic air about her at times.

She's expected to put on this hyperactive persona pretty much all day every day, so as expected, she tires out extremely quickly, leading her to eat whatever she can get her hands on and recharge almost more than she's active.

Technicians aren't really sure how on earth her eating garbage helps, but she's reacted badly when they've tried to stop her. It's better to just give her actual food instead.

Is programmed to have slightly better fine motor skills than the others to keep up with her guitar playing. She's also very good at distinguishing sounds and can play music by ear after just hearing it once.

Shipping Headcanons

Out of the Glamrocks, she's the most likely to give casual physical affection. Being close to her in any capacity, platonic or otherwise, means she's hugging you every time you see her, holding your hand when you're walking together, etc. She just likes being near you!

Despite not being visibly built like Freddy and Monty, she is just as strong as them and will probably lift you right off of your feet when hugging you. This also means she can carry you like you weigh absolutely nothing at any given time.

If she trusts you enough to let you see her when she's not putting on her energetic persona, expect her to be fairly content to just spend time with you, no jumping around or conversation needed. Of course, she can and will talk your ear off when needed, but she also appreciates just having someone she can switch off around.

Playing games with her? She will distract you in any way possible to cheat. She doesn't take being competitive as seriously as some (looking at Monty and Roxy here) do, and she's probably more focused on you than on whatever you're playing.

I imagine all the Glamrocks having their own distinct love languages, and hers is definitely quality time. She's content to just be around you, no expectations.

If you date her, expect the others to know immediately. Not because she's a gossip (although she certainly can be), she just gets so excited that she can't keep it to herself!

I was thinking about some underrated friendships between the team members and the bau kids:

prentiss!reader and spencer, hotchner!reader and morgan, prentiss!reader and morgan, jareau!reader and kate, prentiss!reader and tara, reid!reader and luke, reid!reader and blake, all of the bau kids and rossi, hotchner!reader and JJ

and there’s probably many more those are just ones I can think of

I’m going to go through all of these because they’re all perfect!

So prentiss!reader actually really enjoys hearing Spencer tell her about whatever it is he’s saying and he likes hearing about things she’s learning

Morgan teacher Hotchner!reader lots of self defense stuff even if Hotch disapproves. Morgan makes her promise she won’t use them on Jack, only boys who try and date her

I feel like prentiss!reader and Morgan isn’t underrated buts it’s a very good friendship. They sass the hell out of each other and prentiss!reader definitely sees Morgan as a father figure

Jareau!reader and Kate is actually a really sweet friendship that I never even thought about! I think Jareau!reader just naturally gravitated towards Kate and they have a lot in common. Her and Meg become friends as well

Prentiss!reader and Tara are literally best friends. Their favorite thing to do is pick on the other même des of the team (especially Luke) Emily would try and stop it but it’s too funny

I love Reid!reader and Luke! I’m sure I talk about this friendship all the time but I just love it. At first, Reid!reader didn’t like Luke because he was kind of Morgan’s replacement on the team and she didn’t like that. But because of Roxy, they became friends and Luke sees her as his little sister

Blake definitely takes Reid!reader under her wing and treats her like her daughter. She’s Reid!reader’s mother figure even after she leaves the team

All the bau kids love Rossi. He spoils them way too much and all the parents have given up on trying to stop him. Same thing with Garcia

Hotchner!reader starts to cling to JJ after Haley dies. JJ doesn’t want to replace Haley so soon but Hotchner!reader needs a female figure and she trusts JJ the most

“For Steel...”

Don’t kid yourself. We all said it.

Evox consolidates the energy of the Morph-X Global Network into the very first tower in Coral Harbor. In response, the entire city is evacuated as urged by Muriel Reeves and Commander Shaw with Roxy helping to organize those leaving by foot. It’s actually a pretty down to Earth in how Power Rangers of a specific organization would take precautions well before the final battle at hand.

Muriel insists to Commander Shaw that she wants her daughter to join her in evacuating the city only to be shown that Zoey is the Yellow Ranger. They hug it out before she has to rush out to face Evox approaching the tower. One underrated aspect of Beast Morphers is how the parents of each Ranger factor into the story, however big or small. Somewhat like Go Busters but they’re alive.

The Rangers face Evox outside of Tower One but this time bring out past Ranger weaponry. Devon mans the Super Ninja Steel Blaster, Ravi takes the SPD SWAT Delta Enforcer, Zoey gets the Lightspeed Thermal Blaster, Nate takes the Dino Saber and Steel takes the Cloud Hatchet. It amazing that they worked in past weaponry into the story without it feeling all too forced or baiting.

The main three blast Evox before the Beetle Brothers move in for close quarters, covering them as they bring in the King Bow to use a second Anti-Evox arrow. Unfortunately, Evox narrowly deflects it and even recreates new Robotrons as canon fodder while he returns to Tower One to assimilate the power into his body. Steel sees the Arrow and pursues the final boss on foot.

Evox enters the same reactor Devon used to call upon Jason as a cool callback to the Beast vs. Dino team-up and takes in all the gathering energy of the Morph-X network. Steel manages to sneak in from behind and stab Evox in the back. However, he’s blasted with only a fraction of his foe’s newly-found power.

The Rangers rush in just in time to see Steel fall to the floor, demorphed while his essence is absorbed by the Morph-X. Their expressions are simply palpable as they watch one of their own downed and broken up. I know that Chip Lynn wanted to step down on a high note but I didn’t expect him to go all Time Force.

The Rangers return to Grid Battleforce where they break the news to Steel’s death. I like how Betty is visibly shown to be putting the pieces together seconds before anyone says a word about it. Devon speaks to all of Command and urges an evacuation of all personnel while the Rangers try to hold the line.

However, Ben and Betty are the first to declare that they’re staying in a very non-comedic delivery. Zord Maintenance are next to firmly stand by the Rangers before many more call in on the monitors, appearing one after the other in rapid succession. It gave me major SPD flashbacks with Boom’s “I’m staying” declaration. Most are extras but you get cameos of Cole and Megan.

With GB standing its ground, Evox assumes his powered up with all of the Morph-X he could ask for in his Messiah Reboot form. Thus the Rangers head out in the Beast-X King Ultrazord to make their final stand. I really feel like they could’ve had Ben and Betty join them in original cockpit footage. They’d offer to perform maintenance and eventually help Nate in the final gambit against Evox.

As they just barely struggle to hang on, Nate realizes out that Human DNA is Evox’s Achilles Heel and that channeling the Morph-X through their bodies will give them just the edge they need. It’s a brilliant adaptation of the vaccine program from Go-Busters to the point that they show Morph-X pouring out of the Rangers with those Matrix-esque 1s and 0s in their own costumed footage.

It’s a great twist that was actually built up through out the series when Steel’s body rejecting Evox and how he could barely keep hold of Mayor Daniels. Furthermore, Venjix meeting his end because of humanity’s essence is just karmic on so many levels with what he had done to the RPM dimension. The very thing he despised ended up eradicating his existence for good this time.

Evox’s destruction releases all of the Morph-X and lets it return to the Morphing Grid. Except... not all of it. The Rangers see Steel reconstructed before their very eyes and morphed into a human played by Sam Jellie but still voiced by Jamie Linehan who distinctly sounds like a young teenage Steel. This time, it’s no one time episode deal. Our high-tech himbo’s big wish has finally come true.

A whole year passes before we find Ben and Betty bringing in Scrozzle who was admitted absent for most of the final. Colonel Truman even brings up the rear to report to Commander Devon Daniels of Grid Battleforce. It’s almost symbolic to see RPM tying up loose ends from Beast Morphers just as it was vice versa. However, what was Scrozzle up to in Corinth? Planting more story seeds, Chip?

Zoey and Nate has retired Morph-X in favor of more traditional green energy sources that are less likely to attracted any evil. Ravi has taken up painting along with his mother who’s succeeded General Burke. Steel’s taken up starring in one of the latest action movies in what I can assume is a remake of one of Dax’s films from Operation Overdrive. Knowing him, it probably needs it.

Steel gets the call for an “Operation 365″ at the base and rushes out while morphing as a human. I’m guessing that Sam wanted to close out his one-off role as a Ranger in the suit. However, it seems Steel didn’t need to as he arrives to his surprise birthday party for having spent one whole year as a human. Fittingly enough, “It’s Great To Be Human,” closes out the final scene.

Beast Morphers was a step in the right direction after Ninja Steel’s defined lows, this coming from somebody who enjoyed even Victor and Monty. While it lacks in the witty one-liner department, it makes up for with some solid storytelling as they improve upon balancing stand-alone episode stories with the larger arc. I still love how the crossovers were firmly part of this season like in Lost Galaxy...

With this series concluded, we return to a Dinosaur team with Chip Lynn stepping down from head writer to make way for Simon Bennet. While I am iffy about this change in hands, I hope that we get a sort of Eddie Guzelian shake up where he goes beyond plus ultra. While we haven’t heard much, I’m still holding out hope for a Kyuranger adaptation come the Thirteenth Anniversary.

What? Y’all were thinking it also.

Ranking All The Sollux Ships In Character Order

Firstly i wanna make it clear that i headcanon sollux as bisexual (fucking obviously) so genders not a factor in any of my reads of the ships

June/Sollux: This one’s really crack-ey. I used to be super fucking into it but now it’s like…only good in theory i guess. 3/10

Rose/Sollux: Pale? Perhaps. Ive seen some good stuff for them pale, it’s pretty interesting to think about, especially considering how similar he is to Dave and how THEY get along together. 4/10 Potential

Dave/Sollux: Like i said, i read sollux and dave as pretty clear character parallels. Dave might get a kick out of verbally T-Bagging him but i think Sollux would quickly get annoyed, perhaps a spur of the moment pitch fling? maybe theyre pitch friends with benefits but only very rarely and sollux cant stand him any other time? All good ideas! 5/10

Jade/Sollux: I could definitely see it! Theyre first meeting has them hitting it off pretty well, I think sollux would really like her, but i dunno if she’d really like him all that much. 5/10

Aradia/Sollux: Timeless, literally. Flavor is immaculate. I prefer them pale FOR SURE, and i always have. Ive never read any of their relationships, chemistry, or conversations as THAT kind of romantic, but i think its super valid for people who do read it that way 12/10

Tavros/Sollux: TavSol is SO UNDERRATED. It’s SO CUTE. Tavros would be comfortable enough to sass Sollux just right and sollux would be taken so off guard by it, he’d find it hilarious, like a baby saying a swear word. They’re fidusspawn buddies, theyre Friend’s with Aradia Buddies, like theyre actually so fucking cute, open your eyes 6/10

Karkat/Sollux: Do i have to talk about this one. Do i have to– Okay so This is Actually The Best Sollux Ship Ever Ya;ll are Wrong About Everything And I Am Right 20000000000000000/10

Nepeta/Sollux: I dont have a lot to say about this one. Does anyone? I dont know a lot about nepeta and i dont have any friends who love her, so i could only guess if she’d actually want to get along with him, or if his personality would be offputting to her. Then again, she canonically had/has a crush on karkat, so maybe sollux’s Ability To Respect Women would make him look appealing. Maybe she’d ask him for advice on how to ask out karkat and hed WANT to give her bad advice because he wants to piss off and embarrass karkat, but nepeta just looks so innocent and genuine in her feelings, he can’t bring himself to do it 5/10

Kanaya/Sollux: Pale, obviously and WOW, top notch. Theyre very very good friends, good moirails, she mothers the hell out of him and he does little errands for her. She taught him how to mend his own clothes so he can do it himself and not depend on her, but they still do it together. Also if you read that one really dumb fic i wrote, i headcanon that they have tea parties even though sollux doesnt like tea 8/10

Terezi/Sollux: Pale again, very VERY cute. Writing this fic was so much fun, i loved how they interact with each other here. And in the comics, he’s so  surprised that she calls him cool like “oh my god she thinks im cool” AndD WHEN HE WENT BLIND SHE WAS THE FIRST PERSON HE WANTED TO TALK TO THATS SO CUTE WHY DONT MORE PEOPLE SHIP THIS 8.5/10

Vriska/Sollux: sound byte of that clip from Weird Al’s “I’ll sue ya” Do i even need a reason?? 0/10

Equius/Sollux: Okay ya know what, THIS IS A GOLDMINE yall are SLEEPING on equisol. My friends cannot get me to stop talking about this, but i dont think ive had the opportunity here to talk about it. Imagine Equius just flat out not believe that sollux is at all capable as a psionic bc he’s so scrawny and wimpy, and even when sollux grinds his teeth into the pavement, it still frustrates him that he could be so much STRONGER if he put the effort into it, “You could be strong in TWO WAYS, sollux” and yeah that does sound appealing to him, but seeing equius get so fucking mad that he’s not ripped but is still able to knock his ass down is so funny it’s almost not attractive. He definitly doesn’t tell people he has a pitch crush on equius, ESPECIALLY NOT KARKAT ARE YOU KIDDING and threatens equius at gun point not to tell anyone because could you image, suave, cool, adorkable, gets all the ladies sollux is in a kismesistude with EQUIUS, GOD. Have ya’ll even read that paradox space comic with the two of them i swe– 9/10

Gamzee/Sollux: That same fic i linked earlier is also a pretty good interaction between them that i like? Sollux just. Cannot stand him. At all, and it’s so funny. Maybe it’s a little, tiny tiny bit pitch, he just wants to strangle him in a way that’s not ENTIRELY platonic cause maybe he’s kind of hot in a deranged  clown way? 5/10

Eridan/Sollux: Wheres the flavor? i dont taste anything, nutmeg, cinnamon, I don’t tast–No but for real, no offense to fellow homestuck old fans, erisol is kind of trash. I ADORE them when theyre beating each other within an inch of their lives. Like, sollux dropping a mall on Eridan as a “warning” and eridan shooting at him in the sky is GOLD. I prefer erisolkat, perhaps when eridan and sollux are stuck alone for way too long and have to “pass the time” somehow, and by pass the time, see how many times i can stab you before you pass out, and karkat has to take the knives away 4/10

Feferi/Sollux: This one is good, an old classic, but @zeldasoft-art made a really fucking funny post about what if they’re only pretending to date each other to piss eridan off and i lost my fucking marbles 8/10

Jane/Sollux: im not even gonna– 0/10

Roxy/Sollux: hacker buddies, tech buddies, computer buddies. Like if rivalry and one-up-manship, typical kismesis behavior had a red/pale counterpart. I feel like they’d have a lot of fun making projects together  and contests but they wouldnt be that mean or violent.

Dirk/Sollux: This is. A little bit of a guilty pleasure for me. This is basically equisol, but dirk is mean to sollux in sollux’s brand of mean, and shares sollux’s sense of humor. Imagine the two of them getting into hard roasting each other, getting more and more mean with insults until Sollux tries to make a move on him and that last insult hurt a little hard so dirk gets a little pouty or misty in the eyes cause you don’t diss a man’s MLP collection dude, those got him through a lot of rough times. The fact that dirk made Hal at all makes him like 50% more attracted to him 8/10

Jake/Sollux: He would love bullying him, so much. I dunno if there’s any romance in it or if he just hates jake in the not fun away and wants to make him cry 3/10

she’s extremely good!! somehow kind of underrated despite being one of the main characters? she reminds me of someone I would’ve gravitated towards when I was her age lol we would’ve been friends in like eighth grade

I mean Kanaya, obviously. Can’t go wrong with rosemary. also maybe Vriska but only in highly specific spades circumstances

John/June!!!! their interactions in the early parts of Homestuck are so fucking funny, and they seem to really bring out the best in each other

I don’t really have any spicy takes on Rose... I’ll just go with something funny: she’s the most chaotic of the strilondes. Yes, she has more of a brain to mouth filter than some other people in her family, but her impulse decisions are Big and Dramatic. this is the girl who argued with her brother about going on a suicide mission, lost the argument, and then knocked him unconscious so she could go on the suicide mission anyway. what a woman.

that there is my SON. I would die for this boy. he’s one of those characters that I liked upon first meeting, and then he only got better from there

I will talk endlessly about how good his relationship with Karkat is, don’t even test me. I could maybe get behind him and John too? It’s one of those ships that I don’t actively ship but it’s cute when I see it

pale John and Dave is oh so very good!!! I shipped that before I even knew what moirallegiance was and only knew it was kinda like QPRs. also, his familial relationship with Roxy makes me so happy

not necessarily unpopular but definitely a hot take: Roxy and Terezi are objectively the best characters in homestuck. the COMPLEXITIES. the HUMOR. the STRENGTH. the FLAWS. homestuck peaked on page 1524 when Terezi first spoke, and then again on page 4156 when Roxy first spoke, and that’s just the facts

Hello Time Traveler guess I'm doing this!

(I don't mind at all I just don't think about Homestuck that much anymore except for when I DO so I'm going to try)

Anyway, here we go! I hate half these memes!!! I'm literally copying the ask entirely because I need the definitions too. Also: keep in mind I never finished Homestuck, and didn't read any of the extra after stuff! It's literally been like 5 years or more since I read it, the cobwebs have cobwebs is what I'm saying. blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): Karkat, probably. I'm a sucker for "acts like an asshole but is actually just Socially Lacking and Cares Too Much" I also love Dave a lot for the same reason. I also like them because they're so Fucked Up, but the way they react is interesting to me??? Like they don't go full asshole about it, and it's not Too Relatable for me (Like with Kanaya or Rose) Like they're weird and fucked up but trying so fucking hard. (I also really like Dirk and like idk what's going on with the meta there???? But I love the Striders like a lot people who do direct comparisons between Bro and Dirk without factoring in that one was being mind-fucked by a genocidal puppet with fascist tendencies are Not My Friends)

Post Mistress? She has mom vibes and I dig that, especially when her mom vibes transcend into "I'm going to rip your throat out with my Teeth you Piece of Shit 🐺🙃" vibes, like amazing glow-up!

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): Jake is trying so hard but he's so fucking bad at it. I see him and am like "aw babe, no. kid, kid please, PLEASE stop." Like that "is he trying to tie his shoes? he's crying" meme. It's like when you see someone doing stuff so terribly you just want to take it from them and fix it yourself. Same vibes for Dirk. (I also secretly like Gamzee and want more information on what the FUCK is going on with him. Like I legit liked his character to start with but we are at the point of "I want to study you to figure out what is wrong with you" but I would keep him in a nice space with plenty of enrichment while doing so) Rose is also a Disaster but I love her So Much

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): I like to put the Amporas in a jar and shake it 🥰 Literally so annoying, but I love reading fanfic where they get led around by the nose by characters I like more who think they're cute and pathetic. Everyone is allowed to be mean to them they suck and should face the consequences for their bullshit. Character development should hurt sometimes, and Eridan is a perfect example of one such character. Same vibe for Equius. Characters I LIKE who I want to torment on purpose (but only a little) are like Karkat, Dave, Kanaya, Lalondes. Characters I like who I want to torment on purpose (but kind of a lot) are like Dirk, Jake, Sollux, and Gamzee because like he's just asking for it.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEAAAA!! 😭😭 I’ve always loved this movie esp for the songs but lately I’ve been falling even more in love with it because of Cyrus and Roxie’s adorable chemistry in this movie! I find Cyrus to be very charming and Roxie is such a beautiful talent! I actually found a live performance of them singing “Me and You” that I never even knew about 9 years ago and I’m so upset but that’s okay!! I love it so much bc they were soo cute singing and performing! The way they held hands and looked at each other and ESPECIALLY the way Tyler looks at Coco, I just melted and wanted to cry. These were young teens back then acting in a Disney movie but they’re so talented in singing, performing, and acting that they really made Cyrus and Roxie’s feelings for each other feel REAL AND UNDENIABLE.

I know this movie is “just another Disney movie” to everyone else but it’s actually so much more than that! This movie is very underrated and deserves so much more love!! I was very surprised when I first saw this movie when it was released in 2012. It actually has depth and emotions expressed through these 2 actors that carries and builds up throughout the whole movie until the big ending. I know we’re used to seeing Disney movies as “cheesy” or “teeny-bopper” but please don’t let the Disney label deter you from watching this movie and the songs in it. The songs in this movie were beyond incredible and held such passionate and emotional depth within you that you had no idea you were gonna feel.

The main message (other than being your true self) from this movie is about finding the authenticity in the music that was lost within the music industry/media. The popular music so often saturates the generation and hinders the heart of the true meaning and feeling of music. This movie challenges the forces of not conforming into what has been deemed “normal” or “cool” and instead rises above normality to inspire creativity and integrity. This movie really took the “be your true self” theme into a whole other level. Not only do we get good whole-hearted lyrics but the vocals were insane (I’m looking at you, Coco Jones) and Tyler James William’s rap lines and lyrics were refreshing and really gets to the bottom line of what music truly is: feeling. There was heart, soul, and beat all in a single movie! I promise you after you watch this movie, you’re gonna think that there is no other Disney movie like Let It Shine. It’s about not being scared of using your gifts/talent and being who you are because only you can live your truth. To not let others tell you or change who you are because that is a life not worth living.

I’ve seen this movie 3x. The first time on Disney channel when it was first released, the second time on Netflix, and the third time on Disney+. I will always love this movie, the songs, and now totally and forever fangirling over Cyrus and Roxie being the cutest couple ever! Anyway, sorry for the long reblog. I just felt like I needed to get all of these feelings out since I have no one to tell it to other than my sister to which I’m pretty sure I have annoyed her with. So I’m hoping I can find other fans of this amazing movie so I can talk more about it!!! Sorry haha, another thing! I grew up watching Everybody Hates Chris so you bet I was surprised to see Tyler in a Disney movie to which he pretty much looked just the same as Chris but went from kid to teen. I like to think that Chris grew up to be Cyrus bc his personality was pretty similar: wasn’t popular, always got in trouble by his dad, had a hard time saying what was on his mind, and had the same simple wardrobe of t-shirt, jeans, and hoodie, which reflected his personality. Although Cyrus had a hard time expressing himself in this movie, I liked the fact that he stood his ground. He eventually learned to say no and stop letting people push him around/step over him and say what was on his mind. I find his character very charming in the movie bc of his mad love for Roxie and how he just gets smitten and flustered around her. He also never forced her to make any decision she didn’t feel comfortable with. He only encouraged her to not let others tell her who she is and he knew that Roxie was pretending to be okay with being the flashy superstar when he knew the real her because he saw right through the lie—since he was also living one. The many times he could have been the jerky friend to come in between his friend Chris and Roxy’s somewhat relationship, he didn’t in respect to Chris. Although he was in love with Roxie, he didn’t know or believed that she was also falling for him since he was afraid of rejection/showing his true self. ANYWAYY I need to stop talking bc I’m spoiling it for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie. Tumblr stopped me from writing a long ass paragraph so I had to cut it into stems. OKAY BYE!

1: When did you decide to join the Stray kids fandom?

i saw a thread of information abt the suspected nine members before they were officially announced and was like ‘yes i must stan them and love them with all of my heart.’ so uh,,,,, back in august or september??

2: What is your favorite episode of Stray Kids? uhm, i’m gonna expose myself rn and let y’all know that i’ve never actually seen a full episode of the show; as soon as i heard it was gonna be a survival show, i knew that i couldn’t watch it bc my heart was too weak and i was emotionally incapable of becoming too invested while watching it; but from clips, i quite like the episode with the 3:3:3 mission, and also the last episode when all nine were reunited and told they were going to debut together

3: Who would you say is your bias in Stray kids?

my initial one was chan, and they i got rlly confused, and then slowly came to realize that it was jeongin (anything else after that is a fucking mess)

literally kill me all of them bias wreck me so hard bUT hyunjin, jisung, seungmin, and chan have been wrecking me so hard in particular lately

Jake English likes to fight, and likes the Brobot.

TW: Physicality, Discussion of Physical combat

So, like. It’s long past time I wrote about my favorite character in this webcomic. Jake English is the best and most interesting character in Homestuck, and it’s pretty tragic that barely anybody knows it. This is partly due to Jake’s narrative and personality being one of the most understated and subtle in the comic, but it’s also due to a Fandom Narrative building up around him that unfortunately  paves over a lot of Jake’s most unique and interesting character traits. Let’s try and rediscover this diamond in the rough as we wait for the game that will largely center around an alternate version of him, yeah? Here, I’m going to debunk some pretty common misconceptions about Jake, what he likes, and what he dislikes.  Brawls, Wrestling--Scrums and Whatnot. And the Brobot. Let’s put it plainly: Jake English likes fights. A lot of the discourse surrounding Jake’s relationship with the Brobot seems to ignore this, or implies that the Brobot, like, Ruined Fighting for him somehow because it was outside of what he initially envisioned when Dirk sent it:

A point commonly further backed up with this quote Jake gives Jane: 

There’s a few issues with this interpretation. Jake’s initial negative reaction is his very first encounter with the Brobot, and his quote with Jane is one he delivers as a passing remark. And by simply comparing Jake’s actions before and after the Brobot is sent, we can tell Jake really wouldn’t rather deal with the monsters. Before the Brobot is sent, when Jake is 13, he explicitly avoids going outside:

Which is easy to link to being afraid of the monsters, since Jake complains about them himself...

And has no problem going outside three years later, after the Brobot is sent. To some extent, this can be put down to Jake’s increased experience and competence. But...

That clearly doesn’t account for the entire shift, since Jake does indeed need the Brobot to save him. I’ll come back to that later, but really, we don’t even need to do all this backwards story introspection to decide what Jake Really Feels. It would be easier to just listen to the guy himself.  So yes, Jake complains about the Brobot to Jane in one passing remark...while he’s still dancing around the tangled web of his relationships with Jane, Dirk, and Roxy. A period of time when Jake, by his own admission, is thinking very much about what other people think and not entirely being honest with the people around him.  What does Jake say when he is being honest, though? What does he tell John in his letter, which Jake wrote when he was 16, after 3 years of dealing with the Brobot?

What does he tell Caliborn--who’s opinion he doesn’t care about--after entering the session, after 6 months of dating Dirk?

And what does he tell Jane about the Brobot when he’s actually being honest with her--which he’ll CONTINUE to do for six months, complaining about all of Dirk’s myriad issues and shortcomings as a romantic partner...without ever once bringing up the specter of physical fear or discomfort?

Wait, hang on. Let’s zoom in on that one, that one’s important:

Woah. Is that Jake conceptually linking the Brobot...to the thing he was most consistently excited about for the entire comic? Interesting. Wild. What could it mean. It would almost imply that after spending three years with the thing, he doesn’t really hate the experience of having it in his life.  Again, Jake is no stranger to complaining about Dirk over the course of their session--he complains to Jane endlessly about him, as well as to Erisol and even Caliborn a little. (Though never Roxy, hmm...I wonder why...(I know why and I’ll get to it in another post.))

But he never really complains about fighting or about the Brobot in general, and his general attitude towards fights seems to be changed absolutely not at all whatsoever--right up to [S] Credits. And he ultimate views Dirk as a figure of comfort and safety, so much so that he trusts Dirk with protecting him even more than he trusts Grandma or his own powers--after all, even after Brain Ghost Dirk tells him that he wouldn’t need him if he unlocked his hope potential, Jake still chooses to simply make Brain Ghost Dirk real rather than doing anything on his own when he wants to feel safe:

So yeah, I find the idea that Jake was bothered by the Brobot on any meaningful level pretty hard to square with the avalanche of counterevidence that is in the canon. The Brobot was an imperfect gift, but Jake still ultimately enjoyed it.   Jake English likes to fight. Plain and simple. This is weird to a lot of people, and that’s fine, but it’s not actually that uncommon. There’s plenty of sports that center around fighting or come with the risk of physical harm, like boxing, martial arts, etc. I’m a longtime fencer, and I genuinely liked going without protective padding and getting bruised from the sword impacts. Physicality appeals to some people.  Jake’s love for fighting established, feel free to join me tomorrow and we’ll take on a smaller issue. A tighter one. 

I’ve written an obnoxious amount about Dirk, but seeing how quickly I was able to put that Dirk post out, I decided I’d like to use the next couple days to put out similar smaller posts about the other Alphas--Jake, Roxy, and Jane, In that order. I’ve got at least two more posts of Jake in me before we move on to Roxy, and I should be putting out at least one of these posts a day--the next one’s already pretty much written, so I may post it early in the day tomorrow.   Hopefully, by doing this I can help people understand just how tangled and complicated the tangles of mutual hurt and mutual love are in this group of friends, and why I love this severely underrated group of Homestuck characters. Top 25 Greatest Cover Songs Ever

How often do you find out that one of your favorite songs by one of your favorite artists was originally by someone else? Happens more commonly than you think, yet it does not really undermine the work because we understand that even with the words already written there is a very precise alchemy needed to create a truly great cover. These are my top 25 best cover songs.

25) Sweet Child O’Mine, Luna (Originally Guns N’Roses): The list is 25 best covers, not 25 covers that are better than original because it would be impossible to do a cover that was better than Guns’ Sweet Child O’Mine. Say what you like about Axl and co (really say what you like) but that is truly one of the greatest songs ever, yet Luna more than do it justice. There cover is certainly a very different interpretation but also not all that detached. In terms of its composition it is not all that different but it takes the more electric energy of the original and delivers something more laconic, which should not work but yet does.

24) I Fought The Law, The Clash (Originally by The Crickets): Now some may have known that there was a version of this song before The Clash’s top 10 cover, in the form of The Bobby Fuller Four but unless you have been on the wiki page you probably wouldn’t have known that was a cover to, no matter The Clash’s version is a punk anthem that still stands up all these years later.

23) Valerie, Amy Winehouse (Originally The Zutons): People knew of this song before it was covered by Amy but her version has endured in ways that The Zutons have not. Mark Ronson displays his unparalleled knack for catchy compositions and beats, but its all about Amy and her voice, which was not only one of the most powerful ones we ever had but full of such personality, The Zutons had no chance (although they’ll thank her for all the money she has made them).

22) Jealous Guy, Roxy Music (Originally by John Lennon): Both versions are great but Roxy music might just edge Lennon out. Ferry is somehow able to infuse the song with an even greater sense of regret than Lennon did, while the rest of the band give the song a jazzier edge with the use of the saxophone, which nicely offsets the use of the piano here.

21) Tainted Love, Soft Cell (Originally by Gloria Jones): Okay it might be harsh to call Soft Cell one hit wonders because Say Hello, Wave Goodbye was certainly a hit in its own right as well, but let’s face it they never got close to what achieved with Tainted Love again. A defining track of the eighties and one of the great covers.

20) Take me to the River, Talking Heads (Originally Al Green): Memorably performed on the great Stop Making Sense live album David Byrne made the Al Green classic a staple of Talking Heads work.

19) Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, Guns N’Roses (Originally Bob Dylan): Post Appetite a lot of things held GNR back, mostly themselves to be fair, but on a purely artistic level Axl’s lyrics and their ridiculously grandiose quality has always struck me as a problem. Its not to say he’s a bad lyricist, a song like Sweet Child O’Mine has deceptively great lyrics which stop it from being a bland ballad and make it something more poignant, but after Appetite I think he was far too self-serious and over-ambitious. One way to solve that problem is to use others lyrics and who better than Dylan. This cover just makes sense and I may even go as far as to say it is better than the original.

18) Needles and Pins, The Ramones (Originally by The Searchers): Because The Ramones were such a revolutionary band it is easy to forget that they did have influences, some pretty big ones. They did plenty of great covers of bands from the 50s and 60s that Joey and co grew up with but none better than Needles and Pins which among other things highlights what an incredible voice Joey Ramone had, one that goes a little underrated.

17) Superstar, Sonic Youth (Originally by The Carpenters): Superstar is one of those songs that has been over-covered for sure but there is no getting away from what a brilliant rendition Thurston Moore and co delivered. Its heartbreankingly restrained by Moore, communicating a soft desperation with his voice and giving us some of Sonic Youth’s best work of that decade.

16) Girl You’ll Be a Woman Soon, Urge Overkill (Originally by Neil Diamond): Immortalized by its use in Pulp Fiction, if you had never heard or known of Diamond’s version you could never have guessed it was his song from the Urge Overkill version, which is so dark with Kaatrud’s vocals implying so much more than the lyrics actually say. Urge Overkill may have done little else but they will have always given us this.

15) It’s Oh So Quiet, Bjork (Originally by Betty Hudson): It is tough to say if there is any one quality that is key to a great cover, but I think it always to have a unique and identifiable voice and personality bringing them-self to the song and there are few better examples than Bjork 1995 classic. It has a grunge loud-soft quality, but without the angst, almost to the extent of a parody it fluctuates so much, but whatever the case it is unmistakably Bjork and there in lies the greatness.

14) Piece of my Heart, Janis Joplin (Originally by Erma Franklin): For an iconic artist it may come as a surprise to some that both of Janis’ most enduring hits, this and Me and Bobby McGee, were covers. Whatever the case both are great, but it is Piece of my Heart that makes the list and for obvious reasons, a classic that still holds up today.

13) Where Did You Sleep Last Night, Nirvana (Traditional American Folk song): Its funny before Kurt begins his rendition of this 100 year old song (also covered by Lead Belly) he seems in quite good spirits joking about trying to buy the Lead Belly lead singer’s guitar, but once he starts singing all of that changes. This is one of the most incredible performances ever seen, it goes far beyond showmanship and into something far deeper and darker. Neil Young described it as “like a werewolf, unbelievable” and he wasn’t wrong. There is a moment at the end where Kurt opens his eyes and breathes out for just a second and it is one of the most powerful things I’ve ever seen by a performer. It is wrong that we look at everything Kurt through the prism of suicide but with this cover it is impossible to escape the pain he felt and lived with.

12) Stop Your Sobbing, The Pretenders (Originally by The Kinks): The Kinks and The Pretenders are connected by a lot more than just this song, Hynde and Ray Davies had a child in 1983, but that is beside the point. Stop Your Sobbing is the perfect first single for The Pretenders. Hynde’s voice has this almost brutal confidence and assurance as she instructs whoever to “stop your sobbing”, it straddles the line between pep talk and dressing down perfectly and in the process far surpasses the original.

11) Walk This Way, Run DMC ft Tyler and Perry (originally by Aerosmith): I’m at best an Aerosmith agnostic I like some of their songs but they have never been the great American rock band to me. There is no doubting the greatness of Run DMC’s cover of Aerosmith’s defining hit from the previous decade, but there is also no doubting that it wouldn’t be half as good with Tyler’s contributions. Rock and rap have rarely if ever worked so well together.

10) Respect, Arthea Franklin (Originally by Otis Redding): It is a cliche to say when talking about a great cover that the person covering the song owned it but boy did Franklin own this. By changing the perspective of the song from a male to a female one she not only made a feminist classic but one of the great covers and maybe her definitive track (although there is plenty of competition).

9) Hallelujah, Jeff Buckley (Originally by Leonard Cohen): The most over-covered song? Potentially. Whatever the case Buckley’s rendition overshadows all others. Buckley’s vocals are incredible but in a way that is not very flashy. His sound set the tone for the likes of Thom Yorke and while tragedy may have prevented him from amounting the discography his talented deserved Grace is still a great album. 

8) What A Wonderful World, Joey Ramone (originally by Louie Armstrong): One of the great musical parting gifts. On Joey Ramone’s first solo and final album he gave us his surprisingly perfect rendition of What A Wonderful World. The cover achieved a certain level of fame for its us at the end of Bowling for Columbine but that may misunderstand. Its use in that movie emphasizes the ironic quality of the cover, Joey Ramone who sang of wanting to be sedated now telling us what a wonderful world it is, but actually there is nothing sarcastic about this at all. Joey’s vocals are fully committed when he sings of love and hope and that’s what makes such a beautiful cover.

7) Wild is The Wind, David Bowie (Originally by Nina Simone): For all of his incredible achievements and strengths Bowie had a pretty bad success ratio when it came to covers. His Across The Universe is alright but not great, same goes for his Let’s Spend the Night Together and the less said about his God Only Knows the better. Amidst the less than inspiring rendition of classic rock anthems though Bowie delivered a haunting, atmospheric and all round beautiful cover of Nina Simone’s Wild is the Wind. The problem with some of his other covers I think is he tries to make them too Bowie, whereas here I feel he lets the song itself guide the way he sings it. It is simply one of the best album closers ever.

6) Nothing Compares 2 U, Sinead O’Connor (Originally by Prince): Throughout the 80s and 90s the music video became a medium for greater and greater innovation, yet a lot of my favorite music videos of that period are the most simple and stripped down ones, where it is essentially just a camera looking at the performer. I’ve always loved the videos that accompany Alanis Morrisette’s Head Over Feet and Radiohead’s No Surprises and maybe the best example of this comes in the form of Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U. Her raw emotion in the video completely re-frames this break-up song as one really about a much deeper grief, as she channeled the lose of her mother in a tragic accident. Her raw emotion made this cover unavoidable and unforgettable.

5) Killing me Softly, The Fugees (Originally by Roberta Flack) The Fugees cover takes the softness and melodic qualities of the Roberta Flack original but makes it that much darker and beautiful. It is an incredible cover. Lauryn Hill’s voice has this, I find, difficult to define quality but I’d describe it as a knowingness. I think in lesser hands this cover would have overly emphasized the hip hop traits of the song but here that drum loop is enough to make it a distinctly Fugees composition but also subtle enough to not intrude on Hill’s amazing vocals.

4) Alabama Song, The Doors (Originally by Bertolt Brecht): While Light My Fire and Riders on The Storm have endured as The Doors defining hits Alabama Song is the track I return to most. There is this offbeat darkness, it is not the smoothness most refined sound of a band from that era but it unmistakably The Doors and Jim Morrison. He may not have written the lyrics but you don’t need me to point out just how prophetic it was for Morrison to ask to be shown to the next whiskey bar and demanding you “don’t ask why”. So while it may not be Morrison or Kreiger’s words this is the song that I feel best epitomizes what made The Doors so different and so iconic.

3) The Man Who Sold The World, Nirvana (Originally by Bowie): Before I was a massive Nirvana fan I avoided listening to this rendition of what was then my favorite Bowie song (still in my top 5), I even resented people telling me it was better than Bowie’s original. Once I fell in love with Nirvana and put it on I could not believe just how perfect it was. Kurt and co’s rendition is every bit as brooding, dark and unfortunately prophetic as all the best of Nirvana’s work. The title alone feels fitting of Kurt, but it also worth mentioning how this cover is about more than him, the sound created by the band here is fantastic. Suffice to say this is one of those rare things a good Bowie cover, except it is much more than just a good one.

2) All Along The Watchtower, Jimi Hendrix (originally by Bob Dylan): It is rare for such an iconic artist that there most famous song is a cover but while Hendrix was a good lyricist his status as an icon is about more than his words. It was about his voice, his sonic experimentation and of course what he could do with a guitar. Dylan on the other hand was all about his words. All Along The Watchtower sounds like only something Hendrix could compose and play and reads like something only Dylan could write and that is a combination that can create one of the finest rock anthems ever.  

1) Hurt, Johnny Cash (Originally by Nine Inch Nails): Hurt was always going to be high on this list but why it comes number one is that I think more than any song on this list it comes to define what an artist can do with someone else’s work. Everything about Cash’s rendition is trans-formative but not just for the sake of being different. There are many covers that completely change the originally but in ways that are ultimately detrimental. Cash’s Hurt changes the sound, the mood and the meaning of the song but in a way that only enhances its power. I talked about Joey Ramone’s What a Wonderful World as the perfect parting gift but this trumps even that. Its sad and introspective but so, so powerful. Cash’s voice has such gravitas and really Trent Reznor said it best when he described how it was no longer his song.

Why people should Generation V? Or give it a chance.

Generation V, is my second favourite generation and the first who attempted to change Pokémon, but is so underrated by everyone. Why?

In the Anime:

Ash, Jessie and James, receive a redesign in this series, they look more detalied.

Sadly, since Brock made his mind, he’s no longer traveling with Ash, but Cilan and Iris are good protagonist too.

First series, Cassidy, Butch and Professor Namba are absent, which in my general opinion is good, because honestly I didn’t like them anyway and I’m not gonna to miss them.

Jessie, James and Meowth got promoted, so starting from season 14, they do more chores, rather than just kidnap Pikachu and con people.

Since Jessie, James and Meowth appear less often in the anime, the mechanic of the series changes a bit.

This season is full of heart-warming moments, (some of them even made me cry) people should pay it more attention.

The “Who’s That Pokémon?” section returns in this season.

Ash’s Charizard returns in this season.

This is the Pokémon series with the most quantity of Rivals and some of them need to receive love, for example we got: Trip, Ash’s main rival in Unova, Stephan a tactic fighter, that often people get his name wrong, Bianca, who is very much, like her game counterpart and she loves her Pokémon very much, Burgundy, Cilan’s Rival, a girl who wishes to be better somnelier/conosseiour than Cilan, because she misunderstood Cilan’s conosseiour hour, Georgia, Iris’ Rival, a girl who wants to be a Dragon Hunter and defeat her, Cameron, a rushed and forgetfull guy, who wants to be the best Champion of all times and Virgil, the youngest son of a Pokémon rescue squad, who wants to prove himself to his dad and older brother.

Starting from this Season, some Pokémon start to do what their Pokédex says about them. An example Litwick and Lampet, suck the soul of human and Pokémon, like their Pokédex says.

Seeing N interacting with other trainers, is very heart-warming.

I love the Pokédex of this season.

This is the first time, we got a Legendary Pokémon following Ash and friends in this season, in this time: Meloetta, she’ll be succeded by Zygarde (Squishy) in the XY Series.

The Japanese Openings and Endings, are just awesome!

This is the series Ash captured the most quantity of Pokémon in a region, Ash captured: Unfezant, Oshawott, Pignite, Snivy, Scraggy, Leavanny, Palpitoad and Krookodile.

After a long time, this is the third series (Original Series and Advanced Genration), where a Pokémon that will debut in the next generation has major roles: (Helioptile, Gogoat and Noivern) 

In the Videogames:

You have three rivals this time, Cheren a 10 year old kid, Bianca a 14 year old girl, who her parents, doesn’t let her out and N a 14 year old guy, who talks so fast and thinks Pokémon are “slaved” by humans.

This is the second time a rival of yours, is linked/related with a criminal organization, Silver was linked to Team Rocked, since he is Giovanni’s son. In this time is N, who is son of Ghetsis, leader of Team Plasma.

This is the first time, we have a female professor.

This is the second time you can actually add the information of all regional starters, since your rivals have the starters.

There’s a plot twist at the end of the game, about Team Plasma’s ambitions.

One of your rival captures a Legendary, prompting you to catch that legendary counterpart as well.

Instead of fighting with the Champion, you fight with your Rival, if you challenge the league a second time, you fight the champion.

This is the second region visited after a time, with a different protagonist. The first was Kanto.

Unova is the region, with the most quantity of Gym Leaders, we have Cilan, Chilli, Cress, Lenora, Burgh, Elesa, Clay, Skyla, Brycen, Iris, Drayden, Roxie, Marlon and Cheren. 14 GYM LEADERS!!!

You actually explore the entire Unova region in Pokémon Black and White 2.

The second time, a rival from the prequel is a Gym Leader and the second, we have different Champions.
