Weird things I want Ankama to explain.

Why did Tot develop the adventures after season 2 into a manga? Was it because of budget related reasons? Because it couldn’t have been for its maturity. Tot follows the audience as it kept growing and at the time, the majority were still young. The only reason why the Great Wave, on the other hand, got turned into a manga was because it was apparently going to get graphic.

Why did Tot jump 6 years into the future instead of making more adventures when the gang still had no responsibilities or duties?

Why did tot not make up a new queen outfit for Amalia in the Great Wave instead of making her feel limited to her strict s4 budget? I thought the entire point of converting the story into a manga is to be finally be free from restrictive animation budgets.

Why was Arpagone added into the story??? Ruel specifically stated in two moments that he never got married. In season 1, he spoke to Kabrok and when the wife topic came up, insinuated that if he ever had a wife like Miranda, he'd stop his adventures. And in season 2, when Yugo asks Ruel if he has ever fallen in love, Ruel says that he did and had many lovers in the past but ALMOST married one of them. In season 3, we see that he officially married Arpagone, which completely contradicts what he has said in season 2.

Why are there good concept arts of the characters from seasons 3-4 from the yt videos Ankama uploads for us but these same concept arts are not included in their respective season artbooks??? I thought the whole point of an artbook was to show ALL character concepts and sheets.

Why did Nora have this entire redesign? Don't get me wrong, I think she looks cool as hell but it threw me off so much when I first watched the S4 trailer. I had to get used to it lol

It's funny how Wakfu's main role was to introduce the eliatrope class but then finally opted to introduce a sub branch of it being the 'eliotropes' instead. Like Tot please give us more info in Season 5, you literally did an entire reboot of the eliatropes' history FOR SOME REASON and it now feels like we're back where we started because of Season 4. We now have more questions than answers and it literally took us 16 years to get here and we BARELY SCRATCHED THE SURFACE.

Sooo are we just gonna forget about how Amalia dreamed of Sadida telling her to go out and help a hero? The hero being Yugo? She literally tells Eva in Season 1 that she had a dream of her GOD, but Eva doesn't believe her cuz she thinks she's making up things or whatever. But when Amalia says the same thing to Armand, again, NO ONE BATS AN EYE??? Tot you seriously need to give me an explanation for why Amalia was able to meet her god like this, AND why she seems to have a special connection with the Tree of Life SINCE IT SPECIFICALLY CHOSE HER TO POSSESS DURING NOX'S WAR. Also, why would Sadida willingly make Amalia meet Yugo?? I ain't complaining, I think it's such an interesting thing to know about, BUT EVEN AFTER FOUR SEASONS AND THREE SPECIAL EPISODES, we still don't know why she is so special! She was even able to find a solution for Pandiego's village CUZ HER FUCKING TEARS HAPPENED TO BE THE SOLUTION FOR THE MILK PROBLEM ‼️‼️‼️‼️

And it was the day before the Paramount war! If he was planning an interference of some kind, it would stand to reason that you would stop him. As for why he would want to interfere…Ah! Ignore that last bit. It was just some speculation on my part.

I wanted to pop in your ask box because I have a few questions about Sybille and Jake!

If both of them survive to New Dawn, what would they be like? Would they be in the same bunker/jacob’s bunker, or do they get split up? If they both make it, what would their roles in the community be (and are they part of New Eden, Prosperity, or do they make their own little haven?), and would they guns for hire and can help the captain, or would the have their own quests for him? If they are a GFH, what would their party banter be like?

Sorry if it’s a lot of questions I’m just very curious 😅

hello hello!!! my evening has definitely been made better by getting this ask ngl :') also this is suuuuuper long because i can't shut up and the new dawn au makes me so emotional and i love talking about it even tho i won't be working on it any time soon since i need to finish katc first. anyway. yapping under the cut:

ahhhhh the new dawn au my beloved. i have so many thoughts about it. so at the end of katc (if i ever finish it lmao...) syb and jacob end up in separate bunkers. in the 11th hour before the bombs fall, syb and jacob retake falls end, but in the process, joseph has a manic episode where he runs off on his own and climbs to the top of his statue (which syb failed to blow up in her timeline). and at the same time, jacob is radioed that his bunker is being attacked by the remnants of the whitetail militia. so they part ways (with a final, "Come back to me." | "I always do.") jacob off to secure the armory and syb to find joseph and bring him home.

only the bombs fall before they can reunite. So syb is stuck in dutch's bunker with joseph and jacob and staci are the only two left surviving in the armory when they have to close the hatch. they spend seven years apart and seven years barely holding it together long enough to make it out the other side (both joseph and staci spend a lot of time safety-proofing their bunkers and on suicide watch).

but they do survive, if only because they held onto hope that the other survived (altho, after a while, syb does slowly lose her memories of jacob...all she has is that there was someone she cared about somewhere out there. no name. no face. but the feeling remained).

i imagine that after emerging from the bunkers, jacob and staci actually ended up wandering around for a while, taking on odd jobs and essentially being mercs for hire. i also imagine that jacob nearly gets mauled by an irradiated bear, and the encounter left him unable to see out of one eye and it fucked up his back/hips in a way that makes him realize that he's not quite as strong/able-bodied as he used to be.

but syb, who sees joseph as a religious figure and is now missing her tongue (both are a long story, but joseph cuts her tongue out (at her request) as some sort of act of atonement. neither of them are mentally well) still becomes the judge in new eden and is joseph's second in command. and i mean this in the sense that, although joseph is technically the leader, syb is the one who makes sure shit gets done and morale stays up. she helps every way she can, from watching after and teaching the kids how to handle a weapon to hunting and helping build shelter, to mediating disputes between the new edeners. (also i imagine her mask looking like the one in this picture. she doesn't know why, but she gets that warm, comforting, safe feeling in her chest whenever she thinks about rabbits)

eventually, a few months after resurfacing jacob and staci start following up on some leads about new eden. jacob ends up reuniting with syb while she's patrolling and she nearly kills him. it isn't until jacob knocks the mask off that he realizes who he's fighting (altho it definitely felt familiar). but poor syb takes a little longer. she doesn't recognize him until she's got him pinned to the ground with a knife at his throat and he calls her "jackrabbit."

(i actually have a fic that's more or less how i imagine their reunion going)

she brings both jacob and staci back to new eden and to joseph and there's a grand (and very emotional) celebration to welcome lost members of the family back home.

syb and jacob are practically joined at the hip from that point onward. they never leave the other out of their sight. they get "officially" married (which is to say, joseph officiates the ceremony. they've been spiritually married ever since they swapped dogtags after syb handed herself over to jacob/the cult). and honestly? they're happy living the hunter/gatherer lifestyle. they both find their purposes and are at peace with them. they're protectors and providers to their community and they're happy.

altho, i do think that jacob does try to convince her that they should build their own place to stay, but the obligation to community stops them from ever actually doing so.

when the highwaymen start making trouble and when the captain of security comes by asking for help, syb/the judge still lend a hand. the highwaymen are threatening her people, so she'll do everything in her power to stop them. she still wears the mask. needs that anonymity because she feels guilty for betraying the prosperity folks so many years ago. jacob is reluctant, but goes with her (MUCH to prosperity's dismay -- but once kim/nick/grace/etc realize that syb is the judge they get a little bit chiller with him being there. but it takes a long time for them to trust him).

and honestly that's most of what i have for them for this au so far (mostly because it's been a long time since i've played new dawn). i also think that while syb/the judge stays a GFH (and is again, mute), jacob is just creaky-boned and visually impaired enough that he can't join her out in the field. so he stays behind and works with grace, training people. i also think that now that they're on the same side, jacob and grace actually get along super well and syb is able rekindle the friendship she had with her and the three form a little friend group <3

i always view katc as a story about cycles of abuse and the toll of trauma and self-destructive behavior and the new dawn au (titled: ex paradiso) is a story about hope, healing, redemption, learning to trust others to help bear the burden (whatever it may be) when it feels too heavy, and second chances.

Hello! Here is a bit of the It Was Only a Kiss NYE Alt Timeline WIP for you (since the two highest shareable word counts in that WIP list are this one or the RPF and it feels slightly better to not start my fic sharing era on this account by dropping filthy threesome porn on a Thursday evening lol)

If Henry were a better man, perhaps he’d take this opportunity to get some air. To beg off early and claim jetlag. To book a redeye straight back to Kensington, thousands of miles from the possibility of doing something categorically, monumentally stupid. But Henry has only ever been weak—too easily swayed by the irresistible vice of a man’s smile. And lord, Alex’s fucking smile. From the stage, the DJ transitions from one beat to the next, the bass thumping wildly, the crowd shifting along without thought. “Solving a complex equation over there?” Alex shouts, big hands reaching out to tug Henry in by the hip. “C’mon, your majesty. Dance.” Henry has been dancing. Or swaying, at the very least. "Surely I don't need hands-on instruction," he says and then regrets immediately because Alex's hands on him is about all he wants for the foreseeable future. They're drunk and it's crowded and he can have it—for once—here in this place where no one will see them through the throng of gyrating bodies and glittering strobes. Alex, thankfully, does the opposite of whatever Henry asks. He’s got Nora at his back and wet curls along his hairline and his hands the size of dinner plates on Henry’s trousers. Somewhere in the middle of an indistinguishable mashup of pop hits, he grinds his ass back into Nora and then twirls and does the same to Henry, laughing and spinning away. “Surely he’ll lose steam at some point,” Henry says to Nora when Alex departs for the little boys’ room, sucking his infectious energy along with him and leaving Henry swaying awkwardly once again.  “Yeah, sure,” June snorts. “And pigs will fly.” “Well I’ll put a good word in,” Henry says, even though he quite likes Alex’s endless energy sometimes. It feels free and wild and untethered by all of the weird shit that keeps Henry from doing normal stuff most of the time. For a public figure, Henry is frankly amazed at Alex’s ability to just be. “With the pigs.”

The only thing that prompted this is you reblogged something (as of sending this, I haven't even read the post for context) from me and tagged it Chai Elliot. That's a badass name, and I need to know more about this character. :)

Chai would be delighted to know that you think their name is badass [and so am I]. They have a younger brother and sister named Java and London, latter of which was named after a London Fog. London was an unplanned baby and after having two kids with beverage-themed names it only seemed appropriate for London to follow suit.

They are obsessed with dinosaurs and history and are studying for a degree towards becoming a museum curator. Nothing is more important to them than achieving that goal … aside from making sure Java is safe from his own stupid choices and bad habits.

Much of their time is spent in their designated study corner in their and Java’s living room, which is more or less a pile of cozy pillows, a stuffed dinosaur, and ample textbooks.

They often forget to eat or drink and need outside reminders [Java makes reminding them his responsibility, up until he gets carried away with aforementioned stupids choices and bad habits]

Fun fact : the only reason Chai came to be is because @reininginthefirewriting and I decided their character Matias needed a dinosaur-loving buddy to introduce him to the wonderful world of dinosaurs that he was robbed of in his childhood … an even more fun fact is they eventually evolve beyond being mere buddies, if you catch my drift

Season 5 worries me.

So recently, Tot explained to a Twitch streamer that the fifth season of Wakfu, a season that we desperately wanted ever since we learned it was coming, wouldn't turn out like we planned.

Here's what Tot said:

A need, for the record, is to tell the love story between two(?) monsters. That will be the main storyline for this season. They won't be our heroes, I should note, but I want to present some strong enough powerful characters who are not really beautiful, and try to make the people cry to a story where the characters do not look like them. I really went for some challenges a bit political and all but incredibly very human.

Apparently, and brace yourself for this, season 5 will explore the love story of two ugly monsters and the many challenges they will face. Tot specified that they won't be the heroes and won't look like we can relate to them, but feeling sympathy or even understanding may happen.

This summary alone doesn't bother me in the least because Tot did say that they wouldn't be the heroes of the finale. However, it made me question many things about what this season can hold.

But it also says a lot because we all expected something else entirely. We thought that season 5 would immediately continue with what happened after season 4, so it could be used as a good filler between season 4 and the Great Wave to explain some things that haven't been addressed or presented in the Great Wave yet.

Things like:

how the Sadida Kingdom reacted when they learned they had to share their lands with the eliatropes;

what happened after the wedding between Yugo and Amalia;

how did Yugo get used to his older body, and if he had any trouble controlling it after the adrenaline he just had from the Necrome war;

if Yugo communicates with his eliotrope children like the rest of Oropo's group besides Bouillon;

maybe we could see the unnamed male sadida and unnamed female eliatrope's relationship growing (the ones that got married in the Great Wave. I've explained it here);

or even just Yugo contemplating all the shit that he went through in such a short time.

Because Tot finally has the time to explore all those ideas now that he's been allowed to make 26 episodes. TWENTY. SIX. Do you remember when was the last time we had 26 episodes in a season?? BACK IN 2011.

Again, the problem with this future season isn't that we'll see these new characters being ugly monsters that we've never seen in Wakfu before. Because every season always welcomes new characters, it should be logical to think we'll see some new ones in this future season. The REAL problem is that I'm scared that that's all we'll see in this finale.

Granted, the clip where Tot summarizes the season was only a snippet, which means we've only scratched the surface of what this season has to offer.

But the thought still worries me nonetheless.

Wakfu, for many fans, has been here since their childhoods, and for people like me, it has been here for almost two decades now. Which is why I'm extremely worried that the finale of Wakfu will only be about new characters that have nothing to do with the Brotherhood we have come to know and love for many years.

The idea of ending it with two random people just doesn't sit right with me.

It's like saying you want to end a full nostalgic adventure with two ugly gobbowls falling in love 💀💀

What's worse in all of this is that we should have expected this coming. A few months ago, Tot released a tweet about a new character he would involve in the future, which was this dragon-looking warrior.

I'm in the tough, in solitary mode, and these are really the best and worst times for me. As a wait, I present to you a future hero / protagonist of Krosmoz. I showed you a WIP sketch a few months ago, and the baby was done by the talented Vincent Nghiem. Enjoy.

At the time, we all thought this was going to be some minor character that was going to have a role in the fifth season, but knowing what we know now from the snippet, I'm guessing that this dragonic adventurer is probably one of the lovers Tot had mentioned (or maybe not since Tot tweeted that this character is a hero which was not what he said about the lovers. But then again, he could have changed that statement later on). THIS IS JUST A MERE SPECULATION AFTER ALL SO TAKE IT WITH A GRAINE OF SALT.

In addition, I recently saw a screenshot of Malec, one of Wakfu's directors, showing us the beginning of the fifth season's script. (thanks to @viridisgratia for providing the pic here) Below the first episode's title (which was hidden by a spoiler warning), it said version one.

This could mean two things:

either Tot is playing with some ideas and isn't really sure how to start the season or trying to find a way to improve the storyline;

he's just trying to figure out how he wants to start the show with the two monsters in mind.

Personally, I prefer the former.

I think he may be trying to discover things he wants to do when trying to test out what he likes and doesn't like. The story with the two monsters isn't going to be a story that he will eventually want, and maybe he will just ditch it because the character sheet that we saw in his tweet is just a character sheet at the end of the day. It doesn't mean it would be a fully canonized character. Maybe he's just playing with characters and seeing what fits and doesn't fit, but who knows? Perhaps I'm just being very optimistic or just very delusional, we'll see.

Probably for reasons unknown. Maybe he likes blue. Maybe he can change color because he's light or ink or whatever thing. Maybe a kid scribbled a blue pen all over his card. Maybe he just doesn't matter and he never appears in any future chapters.

(honestly i hadn't put much thought into how long ambrose has roux captive for, but the dread would certainly sink in when they realize it's been over a year, maybe even multiple years ...)

A sentiment Cardan is all too familiar with, for nothing he ever said was taken into account when his family was concerned ― at least, not one that mattered, anyway. Be it due to his father's ousting of his youngest son, regardless of what he would say was always met with either a scoff, a heavy sigh and an extravagant roll of eyes or an outright verbal dismissal based on the reason that he was far too drunk to know what he was saying ― even if, heeding his warning would have been the smart thing to do, considering it would have potentially saved the royal line from near extinction.

Alas, Eldred had always been far too proud to listen to the word of the child he condemned to neglect since the moment he learned his fate; be it when he wanted to defend himself from the murder Prince Dain faulted him for, or, as of late, when he outright informed him of Dain's poisonous escapade. To his father and the remainder of his siblings, the youngest Prince was always too drunk.

Too weak, too young, too mean.
