like rousseau reached out to voltaire because rousseau was such an admirer & next thing u know theyre ardent enemies. but rousseau still defends voltaire sometimes?? and helped to fund a statue of voltaire after voltaire’s death?? and voltaire is an obsessive rousseau hater??

also how often they were depicted with one another during frev and how often they still are depicted together..

Spent like an hour thinking where to put them and I still don't know. They're not even actually compelling they just give me a lot of emotions because I hate them. Rip to all the frevolutionaries writing about them cuddling in Heaven or whatever but I'm different.

It's not even enemies to lovers since Rousseau always pretended to be too good to respond to him. It's just one-sided pathetic obsession and not even in a hot way. Being told Candide was a response to him and saying he didn't know because he'd never read it? Devastating. If I were V I'd simply never recover from that (almost quoted Fritz's dad here whoops).
