The minute he caught his breath from your tickle attack he was up and ready with his portaling sword. He didn't need it, he's fast enough already, he can easily catch you without it but he just enjoys seeing your reactions.

"Oh (y/n)~" he smirked following close behind you with wiggling fingers before he opened a tiny portal right in front of you making you stop in your tracks "boo!" He giggled, pulling you through it as the two of you landed back on his bed, him on top of you with your arms pinned above your head with one of his hands

Ohoho geez I would say run but you're not going to get far! If you found a way to sneak up on Donnie and wreck him, be prepared for the revenge of a lifetime my friend! Soft shell turtles are natrually more aggressive because they have to protect their soft shell from predators so if you somehow found a way to do this! You're amazing but you're also doomed!

He's already got his two robot arms grab you and pin you to the wall, this man has teched out the entire lair! So even if you did run you'd still end up right where he wants you to be with a click of a button!

"Well well well what do we have over here?~" he smirked tapping his foot as he spoke to you "someone thought they could sneak attack me and get away with it hmm?" His smirk grew before he scoffed jokingly

"Why do you look nervous, this won't hurt a bit!~" he giggled before going to town, skittering his fingers up and down alll over your tickle spots

“Leeeeeeee!” Mikey drummed his feet on the table as he covered his bright red face. It was necessary. This was all totally necessary. He did take a really nasty hit in that fight and his shell having a chip was important to look at. 

But oh dear lord! Leo gently pressing his fingers across different areas of his shell, making sure that every tiny part of his entire carapace was okay, was actual torture. He truly didn’t know he was ticklish there! 

“Any pain here?” Leo continued like nothing was different. 

Meanwhile Mikey squawked “LEO! Eheheee.”

Leo looked at him all sympathetic but his eyes were gleaming with mischief, “Not much longer Mikester. Any pain? Any... sensitivity?”

The gentle pressure as he prodded along his back. Gentle pokes right at the very top of his shell. It was like someone was constantly hovering over a tickle spot. Mikey couldn’t control his giggling even if he tried. His cheeks aching from the smile. “Ehe heh eeeeh hehe heehee! Nah! All gohood!”

“So I’ll keep going?” Leo teased.

It was all necessary. It was important. “Keheep eheheh heh! Keep going.”

“Oh. Oh no! Wait! No! Don’t do this!” Raph squealed.

“Raphie! I’m trying to help!” Mikey giggled.

“I take it back! Raph don’t need help! I’m big! I can, uh, get out!” He cried out as if he wasn’t stuck in a sewer pipe with only his legs and head sticking out. Mikey being behind him. He was squirming around to try and find a good position to use his chains to pull him out. 

Including squirming a hand around his sides and belly. “Can you?” When did Mikey get so sassy.

The hand crawled around to grab his side again. He flinched harshly. “Don’t! Mikey! Please! Don’t!”

“Don’t what?” Came a giggly voice and, being the older brother, he was less familiar with the trap laid before him.

“Don’t tickle me!”

“Tickle you? Sounds like a great idea!” Mikey squeaked before squeezing his right side mercilessly.

“HAH! HAHAHAHAAA! MAHA MIKEY! HAHAHAAHAHA!”

“Oh! Don’t you dare!” Donnie violently grabbed Leo’s hand that was reaching and wiggling for his bare shell. 

“HAHAHAAHAAA! ALL’S FAHAIR IN WAR AAAAAAAH AHAHAAHAHA!” Leo screeched as Donnie continued drumming his fingers on his thighs. And truly it was all fair game considering Donnie latched on to his ultimate tickle spot immediately. 

“Oh yeah? You think this is a war and not an annihilation?” Donnie smirked.

But, for all his brains, Donnie could never predict him! Leo lurched up as if he was still drowning in his own laughter and sucked the deepest breath he could and leaned forward to blow a raspberry against his stomach.

“AAH! LEO!” Donnie fell away from where he was straddling him. Leo sprung up and dug his scratching tickling hands under his arms. “HAHAHAHAAHAHA!”

“Oh I dare Donald! I dared Donald!”

“Oh well. Guess I’ll just have to tickle it out of you.”

Raph scribbled his hand across Mikey’s foot, one big hand holding the whole of his calf while the other danced quickly over his foot. Mikey balked and desperately waved his foot but it was useless. His eyes bulged as he clamped down on his lip. 

“Mikey,” Raph said in his sickly sweet mother hen tone. “where did you place Raph’s JJ comic?”

Mikey had thought that Raph was just being his usual playful self when he offered to have him ride his shoulders. But now he was truly trapped. That one foot being tickled. Can’t lean away as he’ll fall.

“Mikeyyyyyy!” Raph’s fingers meant he could tickle away at his entire foot. “Tickle tickle tickle.”

Mikey kept his hands slapped over his mouth. 

Raph turned and saw Mikey’s art desk. He smirked widely as he pulled out one of his daintier paint brushes. “Mikeyyyyy? You gonna admit where you put it?”

The second the tiny little bristles brushed between his toes, Mikey lurched like he had been electrocuted. “AAAAAAAH WAIT! HAHAHAHAHAHAA!”

“Oh... I was just uh... wondering... uh not if you don’t wanna. I... Could we... could you do the shell thingy again?”

Leo looked clueless for just a second before he smirked. “You mean you’re monthly shell scrub?” 

Raph was blushing violently but his tail wagged happily, betraying his emotions. The shell scrub was something they all did to make sure they kept their shells shiny and clean. Raph and Donnie had to be more often since their species usually burrowed away or used the sand and stones in rivers to exfoliate. 

For Raph, it tickled. It tickled but like a relaxing tickle. One that would just about prick at him. He laid down and it was only a moment before Leo came back with his brush. 

The brush landed in the direct middle of his shell. Raph felt his face naturally curl into a smile but his shoulders loosened. He prepared himself to sit there and let the gentle smoothing tickles cheer him up and relax him unlike anything else. 

The laughter would never quite come but his chest would occasionally bounce with a suppressed giggle. The brush was moved in gentle circles as it danced between his spikes. He happily leaned into the movements. 

What he didn’t see was that Leo loved doing this too. Turning his stressed out big brother all tickle drunk. So he kept tickling and scrubbing away.

“OH PIZZA SUPREME STAHAHAHAHAAAP!”

“You were the one that challenged me to make the tickle belt from spongebob,” Donnie snarked without even looking up from his notes. This was an invention still in beta so he had to make notes. 

Leo slapped the floor as he again, pointlessly, tried to pull the belt away from where it was buzzing away at his helpless tummy. The vibrations translating through his plastron in the most teasing ticklish way. “AHAHAHA! AH! HAHA! DON!” “On a scale of one to ten-”

“NO! NO! NOHOHO! AHAHAHAAAA! NO SCALE! HAHAHAHA! AAAAH! NO DATA COLLECTIOOOOONNNNN AAAAAAAH HAHAHAHA!” 

“Oh your spiking laughter must be because of the adjusting speed. This is so you don’t get numb to the tickling. Data collection is necessary, however. On a scale of one to ten, how much does this tickle?”

Leo’s face blushed as bright as his face markings as his mind latched on to the question. It would tickle more if it was on his leg or something. Like if it was tied around his thigh? Then he would truly explode. 

And unfortunately, his tendency to ramble meant he accidentally said that out loud. To which Donnie finally turned towards him again.

“Oh I bet they have more fun tickling me than you!”

Leo looked at Mikey like he had grown a second head. “What?”

“You heard me!” Mikey leaned back confidently with his arms crossed. “The tickle monsters of the family definitely prefer tickling me. I’m just so much cuter when tickled.”

“What!” Leo exclaimed again. “Everyone knows that the face man of the group is always the cutest. No matter the situation.”

“Nuh uh! My laughter is so much cuter than your snorting!”

“Snorting!” Leo clutched his chest. “I don’t snort!”

“Then take my bet!” Mikey cheered.

And that was the context for how Mikey and Leo both charged into Raph and demanding to be tickled. The competition once again blinding them to what they were actually asking.

But Raph was definitely not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Before they could realise the danger they’ve put themselves in, he scooped them both up on his arms. Using a hand on each to tickle both of their sides.

Making them both burst into adorable bright baby brother laughter.

Gateway Fic or Ruining of Canon?: The Double-Edged Sword of Reading Fanfiction Without Knowing the Source Material

One thing you should know about me is this: I love Outsider POVs an unhealthy amount. I have a separate tab open for this specific tag on my browser and I obsessively reload it every few hours. There’s just something about them that uniquely tickles my brain in a way that other kinds of fics don’t. Maybe it’s some sense of schadenfreude, reading from this out-of-the-loop perspective while we, the readers, are in the know. The feeling of “I know something that you don’t.” Maybe it’s getting to see our favourite characters from a fresh perspective. 

In DC comic Outsider POVs, specifically Batman ones, we get to see what Gotham thinks of their resident vigilantes and how the Bats’ dynamics with each other looks like to an outsider, who doesn’t know the full extent of the intricacies of their relationships. 

There are a lot of reasons why I enjoy Outsider POVs, one of which is the main point of this post.

PART I: GATEWAY FIC

I really do owe it to the POV Outsider tag. Because of it, I have been introduced to so many new fandoms. They've been either the final push I needed to get into fandoms that I knew of but was never really interested in or blindside me and pull me into a new fandom entirely. 

Reading spooky eldritch Danny POVs finally got me into Danny Phantom. One bored scroll and random click introduced me to ROTTMNT, a new favourite of mine (as a Disney kid who grew up with 2012 airing and disliked it, suffice to say Rise's magic and vibrant art was what drew me in). I read a Julie and the Phantoms Outsider POV fic out of curiosity, which made me look it up, and the phenomenal music was the final nail in the coffin. (Please do yourself a favour and listen to the soundtrack.) The onslaught of Good Omens fics flooding the tag following the release of S2, not that I knew it at the time, prompted me to check it out, and lo’ and behold, I am waiting for S3 and praying for my cottagecore-husbands happy ending. Reading a social media AU for Red, White and Royal Blue pushed me to finally buy the book. 

They’ve also gotten me back into fandoms. I fell in love with ATLA again after reading a fic about the palace staff’s opinions on Fire Lord Zuko during the start of his reign; I got back into Assassination Classroom and Haikyuu because of delightful outsider fics. I also started reading Miraculous Ladybug fics again after dropping the whole thing mid-S3, which was a nice full-circle moment since MLB is what got me into fanfic in the first place.

The point is, Outsider POVs have been my gateway into a lot of amazing fandoms that I would not have otherwise checked out and my way back into fandoms that I haven’t been in for a while. 

However, reading fanfiction without knowing the source material can be a double-edged sword. And as of last month, I finally cut myself with it. 

PART II: RUINING OF CANON

Fanfiction is never really an accurate portrayal of canon. By very definition, it cannot be and it seldom is. Fanfiction has a warped lens — characters, their dynamics and the worlds in which they inhabit are written based on an author’s interpretation of the source material. Most fanfic authors actively try to change the source material when they find a part of it lacking or unsatisfactory. That’s the point of fanfiction. Fanfiction exists to explore the infinite possibilities of worlds that could have been, of timelines that never came to pass, of relationships that could have been forged and nurtured but never were. 

But what happens when you, as a reader, are exposed to fanon first? What happens when you end up liking fanon more than canon? 

The short answer: Disappointment and a smaller bank account.

The long answer: You could say that I had it coming. I never really liked dark fantasy, but I love every Six of Crows fanfic I’ve read so I finally decided to read the books. But, gods, I am struggling. And it sucks so much because I do love the characters and Ketterdam and the Suicide Squad-like concept. I can read fanfic for 5 hours straight but barely make my way through a single chapter. I tried switching to another book and coming back to it and still, I trudge through it. It’s terrible. Have I fallen for a romanticised, fanon version of SoC that delivers the found family of criminals that I was promised? Do the books not have that vibe and that’s why I can’t get into them, because I’ve been riding on false expectations?

This is a first for me. I have no issues with spoilers and such because I still enjoy knowing how we got to that point as much as I enjoy going in blindly. I learned the entirety of BNHA via osmosis by reading fanfiction but I still liked the anime when I watched it. Similarly, I read PJO fanfiction long before I read the series, and I still had a delightful time reading Percy's adventures. The fact that I’m not experiencing the same thing with SoC is truly, deeply upsetting. I’m still holding out hope since I'm already halfway through but I might have to DNF if this drags on for another month.

TLDR; There’s nothing wrong with reading fanfic of fandoms you’re not a part of. It might get you into it like the numerous times it did for me. But it could also end up with you liking the fics more than the source material. So, be warned, I guess. 

(Also, if someone has a solution to my SoC problem, do advise, please and thank you. DNF is a last resort.)

Fandom: Rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles

Donnie was upset.

One of his gadgets that he had worked on for hours hadn’t been working as expected after MULTIPLE attempts.

He tried reprogramming it, repairing it, re wiring it and completely restarting the blue prints! Unfortunately, nothing came out successful. So he just sulked and put on his purple hoodie and escaped to his phone.

Mikey, being bored, was on his way to bother Donnie anyways. So he found him looking upset and decided to help out a little.

“Hey D! What’s got you down in the dumps?” Mikey asked looking around Donnie’s room for the root of the problem. Messing it up in the process.

“I’m not. “down in the dumps.”.” The purple ninja exclaimed with air quotes, his eyes never leaving the screen. He was looking for a better design to see if that would help as well, but Mikey sure wasn’t.

“Are you sure? You seem grumpy!” Mikey said with a poke to Donnie’s side.

“Nohot now Mikey.” Donnie stated trying to stifle his giggles. He was veryyyyy ticklish and his family (unfortunately) were veryyyyy aware of it. Yet Donnie still denies that he isn’t, his siblings end up proving him wrong.

His eyes never leaved his phone during this conversation yet he didn’t know what he was looking for anymore. Maybe just an excuse to be busy.

“Well then if you’re not grumpy I guess you won’t mind if I do this!” Mikey said skittering his fingers up the intellectual turtles neck and that earned him a few giggles.

“Yohou better stohop.” Donnie stated, trying to hold back laughter at this point.

“And you don’t mind me doing this either!” Mikey said, full on tickling Donnie at this point. He had went for his sides, neck, stomach and underarms in a quick motion.

“MihIHikey STOHOhop!!” The middle child exclaimed. The shocks tingling everywhere in his body.

Mikey finally stopped his tickle attack and gave. Donnie a hug.

“So are you still grumpy?” Mikey asked with his sweet younger sibling smile. It was definitely contagious. He was just happy to at least try to make Donnie happy.

Donnie’s phone had fallen at this point so there nothing he could really do. “No.” He responded with a smile.

A few hours later, Donnie decided to continue his journey with the trinket, after finding some inspiration that could modify the blueprints and possibly perform a breakthrough but guess what? It didn’t.

After a really long time in his room, Donnie finally “emerged” from his cave with a frown. He had been defeated. There was nothing else he could do. And he had to face that. But it’s not like him to give up on a project.

“Hey! Donatello!” Leo said putting his elbow on Donnie’s shoulder.

Donnie shot him a side glare. “Not. Now.”

“Uh oh. Donnie’s in a bad mood.” Raph said with a worried face and a pat to Donnie’s shoulder.

“Should we bring the ‘tickle gang?’” Leo asked, walking towards Donnie with menacing wiggling fingers.

“No. I don’t like being tickled.” Donnie responded, turning his back away from everyone. “I just wanna be sad for a moment.”

“Then why do you laugh when we tickle you?” Mikey asked with genuine question in his eyes.

“It’s a involuntary reaction our bodies produce from being slightly touched which causes-“ at this point Donnie was lost in his own world. He liked answering questions about the body and how it works, what it does and so on.

The remaining three brothers just watched as he rambled on and on and on and believed that this was their perfect time to strike.

They all came at the purple ninja with wiggling fingers and it just so happens Donnie opened his eyes to face them so he could explain more clearly.

“WAIT NO!”

“NOHOHO WAIT STOHOP!” Donnie exclaimed, laughter pouring out of his lips.

“IHIHI CANT BREHATHE!!-“ Donnie was then cut off by the sound of Leo’s voice

“we literally haven’t even touched you yet.” Leo said with a smirk.

“Oh. Wait, yet?” Donnie asked confused.

“Yet.”

Said Leo and started to tickle his knee's, on and under the knee's. Raph was making a patrol around the city so he wasnt there.

Said Mikey started to move and kick to get his brother off. Leo fell of him on his shell. Before he could jump on his brother the box turtle jumped on the turtle. Leos knee's where inbetween Mikey's.

Said the Slider to the boxed turtle that has a growing smurk on his face.

The Orange turtle said lightly toching his sides making the Red slider giggle.

Leo started laughing his shell of when Mikey started Scribbing his Sides rlly much.

Said the Red slider that beacame red every second.

The Sumner duo got a plan. They took Donnies ankels and pulled him down to the floor. Leo hold Donnie with his hands under Donnies armpits meanwhile Mikey sat just exactly how he sat on Leo.

He screamed paniced Meanwhile the sillies had a big grin on their face's.

Leon said that meawhile slowley toching the Soft Turtles armpits. Donnie's eyes widend and he bite his lip to not let out a single giggle.

Said the youngest turtle meanwhile slightly tickling Donnies plastron.

Donnie looked up with closed eyes and trying not to laugh. Eventualy Leo started to dig in Donnies armpits and Mikey to Tickle the plastron fast and not leasing any spot untickled!

Said donnie squicking mean while kicking his feet soo he could push Mikey off.

💙: dramatic gasp* noho name calling brother? Agian? Oh you're asking for it! Mikey tickle his thights! Ama get the shell!

Donnie pleased but the duo didnt listen!

Leo started skracting slightly Donnies shell ( like i said earlier donnie didnt have it on for a upgrade) meanwhile Mikey skratched his thights slightly but fast.

The soft turtle bursted out with chuckels, wheezings and laughs. Finally Donnies laugh started to go silent so the duo stopped.

🧡:you're okay D?

Asked the youngest turtle. Donnie was silent, put his battle shell on and stared at them. The duo though they went too far but then 2 robotic hands took their wrists so they coudnt move.

💜:Mine turn now.

Said donnie in a evil tone with a smirk.

Summary: when Leo gets all of his brothers using his portals, they decide to give him a taste of his own medicine.

Powerful tickles

There was some scheming about the lair.

Leo and just gone to each of the brothers and used his portals to tickle them.

Once they found out that he had gotten all of them, they decided to get together to plan a little revenge.

The plan had been formed. Now all they needed to do was wait in the common room for Leo to come back, as he had gone to the surface to grab something.

They didn’t have to wait long, once Leo walked through one of his portals, holding a new comic in his hands, the brothers instantly walked up to him.

Mikey was nice enough to remove the comic and put it off to the side first, but then, it was go time.

Mikey used his chains to wrap around Leo’s arms and pin them above his head.

Donnie used his tech bo and battle shell to bring out some things that would probably turn Leon into a giggly puddle.

And Raph deployed one of his bigger hands. You can guess why.

“Uh.. guys?” Leo’s eyes had widened, he knew what was about to happen.

Donnie smirked and replied. “Might not be a good idea to tickle all your brothers next time.”

Leo smiled nervously, but it wasn’t long before that smile widened and laughter poured out of him as his brothers began their attack.

Raph was poking his sides and plastron with huge fingers, sometimes going to scratch his shell.

Donnie was scribbling and squeezing and brushing all over his feet and thighs. Some really bad spots for the slider.

He was laughing a lot, and really hard. Soon enough, he had tears of joy collected in his eyes.

The three took the sign to stop, and stepped away. Mikey unwrapped him and Leo immediately dropped his arms and hugged his sides as he let out excess giggles.

“Wohow. Thahat was… aha lohot.”

His brothers knew that Leo didn’t really mind. They each thought that he probably was enjoying himself, but it got the point across.

Aand, judging by how wide Leo was smiling…

They were definitely some powerful tickles.
