"Sโ€™cuse me!โ€ A voice squeaked, a small body shimmying through the larger figures and adults all working around the rebellion base in the makings. A younger Karai barely misses a man almost losing his balance whilst trying to hold many metal pipes- again dodging a older woman carrying barrels, blocking her vision of the hurrying child.
She stopped to look around at the dugout base, people packing the dirt walls and holding lamps to see their progress, it was amazing history in the making. Holding her fuzzy companion stuffy close to herself, her eyes wandered around the busying humans and Yokai alike, looking for a certain Slider-Turtle.
โ€œWoah- careful now!โ€ A voice boomed above her, making her jump a bit and quickly scurry away, turning back to see a burly man carrying weapons on his shoulder, missing a few others who waved apologetically.
It was too crowded in her opinion- at least to crowded for the time being when she had things to do, they needed to get out of her way. She huffed a little bit, continuing her treacherous journey through the underground.
She finally made it out of the busying street of guests, hiding behind large wooden crates, peeking back out to the walking and running right in front of her.
She looked to see some of the tents that were working as new homes for people, as well as those who had families, seeing inside or outside the tents were mothers, fathers, parental figures alike, all with children running around and playing with one another- avoiding the thing Karai was stuck right in.
She stared at the families from afar, landing on one with a mother sitting on the ground, cradling something in her arms, a dark red cloth swaddled around what Karai only knew to be a baby. A few children chased after one another, one holding a wooden sword and the others laughing and squealing happily, running away from their big brother who chased after them.
Karai hugged the crate as she leaned in to look at them more, frowning. It seemed soโ€ฆ Happy, less lonely. She had always felt kinda left out when it came to being an only child in her family, seeing either the parents at these camps were a little unsure of having the daughter of one of the greatest Minds and Ninjaโ€™s of all time around their children.
And she was the youngest one besides Casey in the Leaders rebellion base- little to social interaction with kids their age other than themselvesโ€ฆ And they got a little bored after a while.
Karaiโ€™s longing became confusion, watching the woman with the baby intently, seeing she began rocking a bit, shushing the child that was probably crying- drowned out by the chatter behind Karai, but she knew by the mothers body language.
She was curiousโ€ฆ How come her parents hadnโ€™t given her any siblings? Itโ€™s obvious it was possible to have multiple children- even if Karai didnโ€™t know how, it was something that could happen.
Was it hard? How come only big people could have children? Was it something you granted over time? Like a drivers license? Why havenโ€™t her parents given her the thing she so dreamed of having: A baby brother.
She only felt more confused, her small brain so capable of understanding things not many her age could grasp- yet she had so little to go off from that, and that frustrated her.
Before she could let her little mind wander even more, someone picked up the crate she had hidden herself behind, yelping a little and pulling herself away quickly, stepping back nervously. But in doing so, she found herself falling back into the crowd, but this time she wasnโ€™t on alert, causing her to panic as she bumped into random figures, all looking to her confused.
Karai whimpered, anxiously, trying to get away from the bodies, but found herself trapped. She tried her best to keep in mind her mothers words to make sure people could make way for you: โ€œExcuse me, Pardon,โ€ but she was finding it difficult when her fear made her lose her voice, only speaking above a whisper.
โ€œWoah now!โ€ Karai was suddenly grabbed by the rim on her shell, lifting her up into the air like you would the scruff of a kitten. She curled reflexively, blinking in surprise before she was met with the dark blue eyes of a familiar face.
โ€œUncle Leo!โ€ She exclaimed, looking at the Red slider, who looked back with a smile, chuckling a bit. She reached her arms out to him, allowing Leo to pull her close and place her atop his shoulder, in return Karai hugged atop his forehead to keep herself in place.
โ€œWhat are you doing down here by yourself?โ€ He asked, glancing up at her. โ€œShouldnโ€™t your mom or old man be keeping an eye on you?โ€
Karai almost didnโ€™t hear him, looking around the place at her new height, she couldnโ€™t wait to be bigger. She looked at her uncle once more, seeing him awaiting an answer. โ€œI wanted to find you before you went to the meeting with my uncles and dad, and Aunt April.โ€
โ€œAh, I see.โ€ He nodded with a hum, clicking his tongue as he looked back to where he was walking, giving a few comments to some of the folks working or building. โ€œI was actually going to grab some food from the rations, wanna join?โ€ He asked, turning a corner, causing Karai to wrap fully around his head, shielding his vision for a second. โ€œErm- Karai, canโ€™t see.โ€ He spoke, moving an arm out in front of him to feel around for anything he could crash into.
โ€œOh! Sorry!โ€ She squeaked, letting him go and just holding his bandana tails, braiding them, and twisting them in her small fingers, keeping her occupied and distracted. โ€œI guess, Iโ€™m kinda hungry anywayโ€ฆโ€
The coy tone in her voice caused Leo to quirk a brow, a small smirk forming on his lips. โ€œYou came down here just for the reason, didnโ€™t you?โ€ The teasing tone in his voice caused Karai to freeze, looking around nervously, before finally breaking. โ€œDonโ€™t tell my mom! I just wanted to steal a small snack before dinner.โ€ She whispered into his ear, cupping her hand over so no one else could hear.
Leo played along, nodding while giving her a salute. โ€œCross my heart, your secrets safe with me, Lieutenant.โ€
He earned a giggle, Karai gently kicking her legs and holding her stuffy close to her, resting her head atop of it. She saw the ration area at the end of the hall, seeing a few people walking in and out, carrying sacks or baskets alike. Leonardo said a few helloโ€™s and farewells, stepping inside and shutting the mechanical door behind him, sighing whilst placing Karai onto a barrel and looking around for a snack.
โ€œSo, whatโ€™s on your mind?โ€ Leo asked, as if he read her thoughtsโ€ฆ But it was just Karai wasnโ€™t the best at hiding her feelings. She shifted in her seat, looking down at her feet with an upset look. โ€œIโ€™m sad.โ€ She stated bluntly, her tone not really implicating that, but Leo nodded, holding two apples in his hands, handing one to Karai and taking a bite out of the other.
โ€œGo on.โ€ He said, his voice muffled from his full mouth. He took a seat next to her, the barrel he sat on creaking underneath him.
โ€œI want a baby brother.โ€ She said even more bluntly, looking up at Leo with a dead stare. The statement caught Leonardo slightly off guard, inhaling a bit of apple, and beginning to cough, harshly patting his chest hunching over just a bit. โ€œAw, thatโ€™sโ€ฆ Sweet.โ€ He wheezed, his coughing fit ceasing for a moment.
Clearing his throat of any more food he might still have lodged in it, Leo awaited Karai to continue. Tossing aside the choking situation, Karai hugged her knees as far as she could to her chest, having her stuffy squished between her.
โ€œBut I donโ€™t get it, how come they havenโ€™t made me one? Is it hard?โ€ She asked innocently, looking at Leo. Her brows furrowed a bit, tilting her head. โ€œA-are you still choking? Your face is red!โ€ She exclaimed nervously.
But he was far from choking, Leo put a hand to his mouth, trying to hide the giant smile on his face, large frame shaking as he tried desperately to keep in his laughter. He contained himself, taking in a shaky sigh as he rested his hands on his knees. โ€œWell, to get your dad to make one? probably.โ€ He said, playfully, rolled his eyes.
โ€œOh.โ€ Karai said, sounding disappointed, looking back at the ground with her lips formed into a tight line. She glanced at him from her side view, seeing he was still eating his apple, Iโ€™ll be just a bit careful in case another question catches him off guard.
โ€œHow are babies made, Uncle Leo?โ€ She questioned, looking down at her boots and kicking them together. Leo inhaled, leaning back against the wall, looking away from Karai as he tried to think of something to say.
He just shrugged, biting into the apple once more. โ€œWell for one, it takes two people to make oneโ€ฆ Two BIG and RESPONSIBLE people.โ€ He added, opening one eye to look at her, seeing she was all ears. โ€œActually, mostly the mama does the making- but the dad helps too.โ€ He explained, making Karai look at him in shock.
โ€œYou mean Mama made me all by herself? I thought Papa was the one that built and made things.โ€ She just looked more confused- sheโ€™d never seen her mother as the crafty type like her dad.
โ€œOh, Iโ€™m sure your mom handled most things when it came to making you.โ€ He muttered quietly, so much so Karai just furrowed her brows, wondering what he meant. โ€œโ€ฆYouโ€™ll get it when youโ€™re older.โ€ He waved her off nervously looking away while whistling.
So, it was obviously not the full answer Karai wanted, but sheโ€™d probably have to ask more about it with her parents. She looked at the apple she had placed into her lap, picking it up and raising it to her mouth, taking a bite.
โ€œThank you, Uncle Leo!โ€ The girl spoke, her mouth full so it came out a bit hard to hear.
โ€œHey, donโ€™t eat with your mouth full.โ€ Leo scolded- he himself taking a bite of his now finished apple whilst speaking.

โ€œWell, that wasnโ€™t a complete disaster.โ€ Tamsin stated, pushing the button to allow her inside their home, being met with the sight of the empty kitchen- sighed tiredly, rubbing her head.
โ€œReally? I think we totally blew it.โ€ Donnie stated blatantly, tying his long, black, lab coat around his waist with a shrug, brown eyes glancing up to be met with Tamsin looking back at him with a dirty glare, making him blink stupidly. โ€œWhat?โ€
She rolled her eyes, leaning against the counter and tilting her head up, closing her eyes as she tried to recollect her thoughts. The meeting they had just been in wasโ€ฆ Tough. Trying to make an alliance with some of the rogue foot that had spread across the United States, and were living off pretty well- but they needed just as much protection from the Krang as the rebellion did.
If Tamsin knew how stubborn Foot Soldiers would be- she wouldโ€™ve asked Cass to tag along, but alas, the woman was stuck on babysitting duty, watching Casey and Karai.
The meeting only got worse when Leo decided to step in, being just the tiniest bit late, and Raph got on his caseโ€ฆ Right in front of the very upset soldiers whoโ€™d rather be doing more important things than having some civil meeting.
โ€œYou know what? Youโ€™re completely right.โ€ Tamsin said out loud, remembering everything.
Donnie looked off to the side, feeling just a bit guilty for his remark, now sensing he couldโ€™ve been a bit softer on the subject, but it was too late for that now. He slowly stepped to her side, taking the same position she did. โ€œHey now, at least they didnโ€™t start throwing chairs.โ€ He Tried to joke, nudging her side with a small smile.
โ€œClose.โ€ Tamsin remarked, her head coming back down to look at Donnie, whoโ€™s already small smile faded, placing a hand to his chin while he hummed. โ€œFair point.โ€
Tamsinโ€™s gaze was brought away when she heard the sound of small footsteps entering the kitchen, seeing a bright purple bow peeking over the table. She smiled softly- with just a hint of exhaustion, but she lifted herself from the counter and stepped over to the table.
She pressed her hands onto the surface, leaning over to see Karai, who looked back up at the figureโ€™s shadow looming over her.
โ€œHey, K.โ€ Tamsin spoke happily. โ€œWhy donโ€™t you come out here where me and dad can see you?โ€ She motioned her head off to the side where Karai would be out of the way of the table, and in front of her parents.
Karai nodded quickly, walking over to the spot, seeing Donnie had already been fully standing, arms crossed over his plastron as Tamsin made her way to his side, hands on her hips. โ€œWhatโ€™cha need, hun?โ€ She asked, tilting her head slightly a smile on her features.
Karai stayed quiet for a second, taking a deep breath before looking up to her parents with a determined look.
โ€œMom. Dadโ€ฆ I want you to make me a baby brother.โ€
Tamsin and Donnieโ€™s eyes both widen in unison, Tamsin pursed her lips unsurely, Donnie just froze. They shared one exchanged look through the awkward silence, feeling Karaiโ€™s gaze burning holes into their foreheads.
โ€œUh- honey,โ€ Tamsin cleared throat, giving an awkward grin, getting on one knee to be at Karaiโ€™s height. โ€œWhat made you think that? Why do you want a little brother?โ€
โ€œBecause Iโ€™m lonely.โ€ Karai explained, causing Tamsinโ€™s smile to falter a bit, brows furrowing. โ€œAll the other kids living with us have siblings, so why havenโ€™t you and papa made me one?โ€ The tone in her voice quieted, grip on her stuffy tightening as she looked at the ground.
This felt all too familiar to Tamsin, in fact, it was as if she was looking at a miniature her, seeing herself all those years before. She remembered coming to her parents ever since she could talk and would beg for a sibling, but alas they were too busy with work to even take care of their only daughter.
She felt a pang in her chest, wishing she could somehow answer Karai, give her a valuable reason why they couldnโ€™t give her a siblingโ€ฆ But why were the only words that came to her the same her parents told her years and years before: โ€œWeโ€™re too busy for that.โ€
Tamsin opened her mouth to speak, only a mere stutter until Donnie got onto a knee right next to her, putting an arm around Tamโ€™s shoulders. โ€œKarai. Another sibling is a big responsibility and a lot of work for me and your mother.โ€
Karai wasnโ€™t buying, frowning deeper as she scooted closer to Donnie. Tugging on his lab coat. โ€œB-butโ€ฆ How come?โ€
Oh shit, puppy dog eyes. Donnieโ€ฆ Wasnโ€™t the best a refusing them, let alone when he could just tell Karai wanted a better argument than her question, but she was just Four Years Old, itโ€™s all she had. His lips formed a tight line, taking in a harsh breath through his nose- taking a minute to regain himself from the big, dough eyes his daughter was giving him.
โ€œWell, itโ€™s a long talk weโ€™ll have to consider when youโ€™re a bit older, and the choice is something me and your mother will have to look into more.โ€ Donnie finally stated, placing a hand atop her head. โ€œUnderstand?โ€ His tone grew soft, leaning in a bit more to look at Karaiโ€™s face, which she hid upsettably in behind her stuffy.
โ€œSoโ€ฆ What youโ€™re saying isโ€ฆ Maybe?โ€ She asked, peeking once more to see her fathers face. Donnie thought for a second but gave curt nod. โ€œI suppose.โ€
Karai sighed a bit, moving her stuffy to being holding it at her side. โ€œOkay thenโ€ฆ Maybe it is.โ€ She huffed, but she got her answer, so she wasnโ€™t too upset anymore, giving a kiss to Donnieโ€™s snout and hurrying away.
โ€œMake sure to check in with your Aunt Cass!โ€ Donnie called out to her, lifting himself up off his knee, looking to Tamsin. He held out his hand to her, she gladly took it, hoisting herself up. Donnie gave a nervous chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck shyly. โ€œWell, I guess we shouldโ€™ve expected that question sooner or later. I just didnโ€™t think the sooner would be-โ€œ
โ€œDid you mean it?โ€
The question caught Donnie off guard, hand hesitantly pulling away from his neck as he gave her a look of confusion. She played with the trinkets on her necklace, looking at them to avoid any eye contact with Don- which would be a habit she had to break at some point.
โ€œWhat you told Karaiโ€ฆ Maybe?โ€ She repeated his words, folding her arms unsurely as she shifted her weight from one leg to the other. โ€œDoes that mean thatโ€ฆ Youโ€™d want to expand on our familyโ€ฆ Have more kids?โ€
โ€œAh- well-โ€œ Donnie clapped his hands together rubbing them against one another as he tried to think up some way to bring up the one thing he had found hard to discuss with Tam: Babies.
โ€œItโ€™sโ€ฆ Always been something at the back of my mind, growing up with brothers I guess I never got to feel howโ€™d itโ€™d be alone.โ€ Tamsin nodded along to his words, frowning sadly at the ground, rubbing her arm.
โ€œI guessโ€ฆ I feel the same way- about our family.โ€ She replied after a few seconds of silence, watching Donnieโ€™s eyes widen a bit as he awaited intently. โ€œIโ€™ve always wanted to have siblingsโ€ฆ And I guess I donโ€™t want to leave Karai in the dark on it like my-โ€œ She cut herself off, biting her lip unsurely.
Donnieโ€™s gaze softened. โ€œTam, youโ€™re not acting like your parents- we talked to her, gave her our reasonings, and weโ€™re discussing it with one another right now.โ€
She shook her head in frustration, โ€œI donโ€™t want to be discussing the โ€˜if we doโ€™ I want to have another childโ€ฆ With you.โ€ Fully realizing the demand she had made, she quickly shut her mouth, turning away nervously as she ran a hand through her hair.
โ€œOh, I see.โ€ Donnie stuttered out, placing a hand on his hip, tapping his side impatiently. Heโ€™d admit he wasnโ€™t expecting that answer- or at least in that form. Drowning in the quiet, he noticed Tam wasnโ€™t gonna turn back any time soon, probably- not until he left the room, heโ€™d bet.
So, he slowly walked to her side, reaching a hand out and placing it on her shoulder.
โ€œWell, letโ€™s just say โ€“ in a Hypothetical senseโ€ฆ I felt the same?โ€ He didnโ€™t know why he had the urge to place the โ€˜hypotheticalโ€™ term in his sentence, like some part of him was still unsure what her answer would be, just a small twinge of fear in there keeping him for fully telling her he was ready for whatโ€™s to come in their future.
Thankfully however, Tamsinโ€™s head immediately turned to him, swallowing down the lump forming in her throat. โ€œItโ€™s gonna be difficult, you know?โ€
โ€œIโ€™m a genius, I know everything.โ€ Donnie responded coolly.
โ€œItโ€™s risky expanding our family during these times.โ€
โ€œYep.โ€
โ€œYouโ€™re not just saying this to make me happy, are you?โ€
She was cut off immediately when Donnie placed a hand to the side of her face, pulling her close to him so his other hand found itโ€™s way to her hip. โ€œBringing another life into our world today is gonna be trial and errorโ€ฆ But Iโ€™d never want to go through it with anyone but you.โ€
He then placed a quick peck to her soft lips, wishing to linger on the kiss just a little longer, but he had to ask her one thing. โ€œWill you have another baby with me?โ€ He asked quietly, opening his eyes to see her reaction.
He flinched back, being met with large, green eyes welling up with tears, and yet she was practically beaming, nodding her head so rapidly his hands couldnโ€™t keep her still.
โ€œYes, yes I will!!!โ€ She squealed, wrapping her arms around his neck, and tackling him.
Donnie stumbled a bit, letting out a grunt as she began to kiss his face all over.
โ€œWoah, woah, woah-! Tam not on the table- not on the kitchen table-!!!โ€

BIG THINGS ARE COMIN' YALLS WAY, AND HERE THEY ARE!!!
So, as you all know, 100 followers, which is super epic mind you and I'm still squealing about it.
But I feel the reason I have so many is because of my ROTTMNT fancomic, and I'm glad to say that I'll be getting back to it whoever I can! I'm not really sure when, but be on the lookout~!
BUT, continuing it, I think I need to explain that it's not necessarily some Future Fancomic, it's actually a little AU!
Its called 'The Last Hope AU' and from the name you can probably get it already... Okay maybe no-
So, Mikey knows the Multiverse, he knows how space time continuum can bend at the will of time travel or mystic abilities, and knows there's multiple universes where the Krang don't win, where they didn't even show up in the first place... But there's one universe, one that decided to twist time to change the future they had before, to make it better.
That one universe, could change everything, could change their future, the one they've been given, it's their last hope, cause if it goes right, there's a chance that the Krang of their universe could be sent back to their prison... Casey Jones just has to complete his mission- er- well- the other universe Casey.
So the AU takes place during the Krang takeover, and also kind of an 'After The Krang Are Gone' since they have to replenish, or just- learn to lie in the desolate wasteland that's left of their world.
Soanyways, thats kinda what to expect of the AU!!
And the NEXT thing is... I'm making a Fic!! Specifically a Donnie x Tamsin Fic. Not sure where I'll post it, probably get a AO3, but I'll figure it out once I get a chapter planned out, but for now, I'll be explaining the fics basic plot!
It takes place after The Mad Dogs have successfully sent back the Krang, all recovering and getting New York back on its feet.
Tamsin and Donnie are... A bit complicated, they haven't exactly expressed how they feel for one another, and it's obvious is getting on both their nerves.
It doesn't help the fact Tamsins parents had just come back from a long business trip to see a destroyed New York and their daughter nowhere to be found.
Once she finds her parents, they are immediate to announce they are leaving- completely moving away from New York and back to Tamsins hometown... Wyoming.
Obviously the Hamatos are a bit hurt they have to give up their friend, saying their last goodbyes before she's finally gone.
Now, flash to six years later, and Tams is 23, and just graduated college, people wondering what she will do now that she's finally put of her parents house and graduated, her answer... She's going right back to New York to find some work... And maybe meet some old friends and mend some broken ties with a certain softshell... But that last option is just if she has the time! Right?
So here's what's gonna be some of my biggest projects to be looking out for! Thank you all for the support and I'll see yall then! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’œ
NOTE: Also making a tag list for some of my stuff, in case you guys wanna be tagged in my posts so if you guys wanna be apart of it, please comment!

I've been really curious after finding your rottmnt ocs, the ones that are donnies kids? Is there any specific reason why the boys (I think there all boys) are more human than the girls, and why the girls are fully turtle mutants and the boys aren't? I hope this makes sense and ignore if you want.
IM SO SORRY FOR KEEPING YOU WAITING SO LONG ANON
Thats actually a good question! And I Thankfully I have an answer too hehe! ^^
SO BASICALLY... It all involves mutagen, and fair warning I'm not an amazing scientist or an expert of reproduction- but stay with me here LMAO
Anyway, mutagen. So we know it's quite literally flowing through Donnies veins, it's what made him a freaking mutant turtle. Tam is a human, nothing all the great flowing through her veins and she's just a basic b-
So when Tamsin got pregnant, the mutated cells had to go somewhere, and where better than to make a half-mutant baby! But this I where the 'stronger resemblance of dad/mom' comes into play.
Mostly from birth, we start of with girl counterparts until the body decides to either keep the baby a boy or girl, so let's use Karai as an example, seeing she's fully mutant.
The mutagen cells don't have to do much work given the fact that this little baby will stay a girl, so all its really gotta do is turn the baby into a mutant!
And now for the boys, and why they aren't fully turtles, is because the mutagen, instead of having to mutate most of the time, has to occupy itself in making the baby a boy rather than mutating the other cells, which is why they have little resemblance to Donnie, but not as much as the girls.
I hope this made just a bit of sense, apologies if not and I need to alaborate cause I'm not smart-

Donnieโ€™s hands nimbly grabbed the tools from off his work desk, not even sparing a chance to set them neatly into his large satchel and tossing the objects into the leather, the loud noise of metal clashing together in response.
Half of his entire desk and workshop wasโ€ฆ Gone. All packed into bags and sent off to the on the package shuttles, heading to the destination he had packed forโ€ฆ He could only hope itโ€™d show up unscathed or completely left behind for Krang to infest. His fingers tapped impatiently against the metal desk, finding himself lost of things he could busy himself with.
Strange. Donnie didnโ€™t want to think at the moment. He didnโ€™t want the time to. He didnโ€™t want to register what was going on, to process what was happening. He wasnโ€™t ready to.He swallowed down the lump forming in his throat, eyes wandering desperately to find just one thing he could pack away-
โ€œDee?โ€
Donatello visibly jumped, taking a full spin to see who called out to him, leaning half-hazardly against the desk. April stood in the doorway, arms folded tightly over her chest with a lost look in her eyes, brows furrowed with a gleam of sadness in them, but it wasnโ€™t for herself, it was one emotion Donnie had come to recognize and consider: Sympathy. Guilt. Perhaps both.
โ€œAre you ready for this?โ€ She asked him, taking a step away from the doorway and toward him, her voice a bit quieter than earlier. Donnie fixated his visor on his snout, looking down at his wristband as his face quickly morphed back into a stoic, neutral state.
โ€œOf course I am. Iโ€™ve made sure to communicate with the Rebel Foot and theyโ€™ve assured our travels should be clear of any Krang. As long as we keep on that route till we reach the safety shuttle in Chicago, weโ€™ll reach Nevada by next Tuesday.โ€ Donnie allowed a projected image of the map he had traced out to pop up as a hologram from his wristband lit up the room in a dim light.
โ€œIf we leave early tomorrow, weโ€™ll make it by at least three-thirty The-โ€œ
โ€œDonnie. Iโ€™m not talking about the travel.โ€
As soon as the words left Aprils mouth, Donnie froze, fingers quickly typing stopping in their tracks, he felt as if a spotlight was placed right on him, showing every feature on his face that indicated he was scared. He tried desperately to hide it.
โ€œWeโ€ฆ Havenโ€™t talked since last night about it.โ€ He moved his gaze away from April and down to his feet, allowing the arm he held out to fall limp to his side. โ€œShe refuses to even look at me.โ€ He felt a tightening feeling around his chest as he remembered the talk he had had with his wife the other night.
His fists tightened at his sides, as he clenched and unclenched his jaw, possibly pondering his next words to say. โ€œIโ€ฆ Iโ€™m trying to understand what sheโ€™s going through- how this all seems from her point of view. But even I thought Tamโ€™d know why we have to do this, why I have to leave.โ€
April hummed a bit, pondering her next words as she studied the frustration on Donnieโ€™s face. โ€œHow would you feel if it was Tam leaving for nearly three years to work on this protective shield.โ€ She shifted, moving her hands to her hips as she raised a brow at the reverse hypothetical.
โ€œYou donโ€™t think I feel the same way even if itโ€™s me? The one leaving?โ€ Donnie argued back, finally looking back up to April, challenging her with the exact look. She nodded, pursing her lips as she re-thought his words. โ€œFair point.โ€
And then there was silence. It wasnโ€™t awkward, but it wasnโ€™t peaceful either. Donnie stared back at April as she did the same, waiting for who would make the move to speak, rather it be an order, a statement, or sparing words of farewell till morn.
Donnie noticed behind her gleaming glasses, Aprilโ€™s eyes looked tired, red, puffy, she didnโ€™t even bother to hide the tear stains that had faded into her dark skin. He knew exactly who she shared those tears with, the tightening in his chest just worsening, like any more of this- odd feeling would burst his ribs.
He heaved out a sigh, breaking eye contact this time. โ€œWhere is she?โ€ he ordered, pushing gently aside April to find where Tamsin had run off to hide. โ€œKitchen.โ€ April responded just as stern, rubbing her arm as she stepped away making room for Donnie to exit, while she stared in the half empty lab, gaze lingering.
โ€๊—ฅ๏ฝž๊—ฅโ€ โ€๊—ฅ๏ฝž๊—ฅโ€
The vigorous noise of slamming cupboards and harsh chopping got louder as Donnie headed toward the kitchen, peeking inside (Iโ€™ll admit just a bit nervous,) seeing if his presence would be sensed by the busying figure stomping around the area- cooking? Maybe, but the softshell assumed she was doing the exact same thing he was earlier: Busying herself so she wouldnโ€™t have to think.
โ€œTamsin?โ€ Donatello said, leaning on the doorframe with his arms folded, the sound of his voice and clothing shifting didnโ€™t effect Tamsin, still chopping away with her back toward him.
โ€œWhat.โ€ She snapped, a venom in her voice he had yet to hear- at least when it was aimed directly toward him. He shifted, frowning slightly his hands tightened their grip on his arms.
โ€œWanna talk about it?โ€ He asked, not any venom in his voice in return to her tone- but he was close.
โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to talk about.โ€ Tamsin replied coldly, the chopping getting louder and quicker. Donnieโ€™s brows furrowed, lifting himself from where he was leaning, stepping fully into the kitchen.
โ€œWeโ€™re not starting that in our relationship.โ€ He spoke bluntly, hands now going to his hips as he studied her from behind. โ€œTalk to me.โ€ His tone went a bit soft, but he still sounded demanding.
Heโ€™ll admit he jumped just a little bit when Tamsin slammed the knife down harshly onto the cutting board, turning around to face him while she tightly gripped the counter behind her. She looked exhausted, like the moment she heard the news of Donnie having to leave she didnโ€™t even get a blink of sleep.
She stared back at him with such fury heโ€™d only ever seen the time they were visiting Big Mamaโ€™s with Maggie when she was born five months ago. She visible gritted her teeth, mouth closed tightly as it shifted side to side on her face. โ€œYou wanna talk. Fine. Letโ€™s talk.โ€
She pushed herself from the counter, taking steps toward Donnie, who still stood his ground, waiting to hear her in the heat of the moment, awaiting what was to come with all this pent-up rage.
โ€œIโ€™m sorry Iโ€™ve been a little moody. I just found out Iโ€™m losing my husband to some- work in Nevada and the next thing I know I will have no contact with the love of my life, no help with the kids, and no support for three yearsโ€ฆ For three years of no support with Karai, Jeri, Davi, the twins.โ€
Tamsin counted down the reasons on her fingers, taking every slow step toward him with each of her reasons, the sarcasm in her voice was thick you could see it.
โ€œTam, these people need me, April, and the others joining us for our travel. You know this.โ€ Donnie argued back, his finger tapping anxiously against his side as Tamsin watched him- like he was some kind of prey and any bad move or sentence sheโ€™d just tackle him.
โ€œMy tech will save others, people who need it. For once in years, Iโ€™ll be needed, Iโ€™ll be able to not feel useless, Iโ€™ll help them- Iโ€™ll be who I was meant to be.โ€
Uh oh. He said something wrong. โ€œUseless?โ€ Tamry repeated, almost in shock, eyes wide before it morphed back into utter rage, probably more than before. โ€œUseless!?โ€ She was this close to having her voice fully raised, throwing her hands up in defeat, bewilderment as she scoffed at him.
โ€œIs that all our family has been? Useless? Our children are useless to you? Hm?!โ€
Finally realizing what he said, Donnie blinked stupidly, waving his hands, and shaking his head furiously. โ€œWhat?! No, Tam, I didnโ€™t mean it like that, you know I didnโ€™t.โ€ He responded with frustration, rubbing his forehead tiredly.
โ€œThen how did you mean it? Tell me, Donnie.โ€ She stepped toward him; her voice threateningly low. โ€œTell. Me. What. You. Meant.โ€
They were chest to chest at this point, faces a few inches away from one another. Donnie stared back with the same fury bubbling up inside him now, green eyes glued to brownโ€ฆ God he loved those stupid, pretty eyes- and here they were unblinking at him with hatred.
He clicked his tongue, staring glowering. โ€œIโ€™m meant to protect people- including my family. And I do that with my tech. And if I donโ€™t solve this issue in Nevada, then I wonโ€™t be able to discover a way to fix the issues here.โ€
As he spoke, he pointed his finger to the ground, like he was demanding something, every word he repointed harshly.
โ€œCanโ€™t you understand that your family might need you here? I canโ€™t do this alone!โ€ Tamsin remarked, throwing her arms out to the side to motion around the place. โ€œIโ€™m not ready!โ€
โ€œDo you think I am?!โ€ Donnie yelled in return, moving his hand to place it on his chest. The look on his face was a mix of anger and fear- something Tamsin had yet to ever see mixed in one look. โ€œDid you ever consider I donโ€™t want to leave? I donโ€™t want to leave you or the kids, or my brothers!"
It went silent for a minute, Tamsinโ€™s eyes darting across his face, opening her mouth to say something, but pausing- stuttering, closing it and opening it back and forth. She was lost.It ended with her scoffing, turning back to him, and walking to the kitchen counter again, turning her back to him as she looked down, away from him.
Donatello fixed his posture, hands to his sides, fist clenched as he took in a deep breath, closing his eyes to regain himself. โ€œI donโ€™t know what you want me to do. The things I can do, you refuse to put any faith into me. Tam, you need to understand these people need m-โ€œ
โ€œIโ€™m not mad that people need your need you, Iโ€™m mad that you NEVER ONCE ASKED ME IF I NEEDED YOU!โ€ Tamsin screamed, turning back to him. Donnie took a step back, alarm stabbed right into his gut, followed by an insane wave of worry.
Thick tears streamed down Tamsinโ€™s face, more threatening to fall as she tried to keep them in. Her lower lip trembled visibly, as well as her body. โ€œEver since you found out about this mission a week ago Iโ€™ve never been told how I felt abut you leavingโ€ฆ Do you care what happens? What youโ€™ll miss?โ€
She choked out before her words were cut off by a sharp inhale, trying to keep in a sob. Donnie stayed quiet, swallowing thickly while he felt his heart pound against his chest, slow breathing to keep himself from just doubling over in guilt.
โ€œOur own newborn daughter will not spend the first few years of her life with her father. Youโ€™ll miss so muchโ€ฆ Do you know how helpless I feel? I canโ€™t do anything to stop you.โ€ She blinked away a few more tears, before harshly wiping them away, leaving her nose and cheeks bright red from the harsh swiping. โ€œAnd knowing you canโ€™t either, Iโ€ฆโ€ She stopped, looking back at him once more, before visibly deflated, shoulders relaxing as she looked to the second exit of the kitchen. โ€œYou wanted me to talk, and I have. Iโ€™m done. Iโ€™m going to bed.โ€ Her voice sounded hollow, storming away and out the the kitchen, leaving Donnie standing and hearing her scream echo in his head repeatedly.
The tightening over his chest only worsened, the lump in his throat ached as his face morphed, a soured frown and he blinked away the sight of her that seemed to be burned into his eyelids. He fucked up, didnโ€™t he? Not his actions in helping others, he knew now she didnโ€™t mean that. He fucked up in hearing her, even if it wasnโ€™t obvious, he shouldโ€™ve known. Goddammit why was it so hard for him to understand?
He slowly craned his neck to the side, looking over his shoulder defeated. โ€œKarai, you can come out now.โ€ He spoke dryly, brows furrowed in a saddened expression. He was met with a few seconds of silence, until the light purple masked soft shellโ€™s eyes peeked from behind the corner bashfully, fully stepping out and standing guiltily in the doorway, the sight looked familiar to Donnie from a few minutes before.
โ€œWhy was mama yelling at you?โ€ The nine-year-old asked innocently, seeming a bit anxious for an answer. โ€œYou both sound awful mad.โ€
Donatello felt a slight pang of guilt pull at his heartstrings, face softening as he shifted himself to turn to her. He sighed quietly, bending down on one knee to get to her height, bringing his hand up to usher her closer.
The girl quickly waddled toward him, standing a bit of a ways from him, but enough for Donnie to place a firm hand on her shoulder. โ€œWeโ€™re not mad, weโ€™ve justโ€ฆ Made the mistake of not communicating with each other enough.โ€ He admitted to his daughter, knowing she may not grasp it as much as she would if she were a bit older, but it was enough for her to know nothing risky was happening between her parents relationship, causing her to relax a bit.
โ€œYou know how Dad has to leave for a long time to help some people really far away?โ€ He asked Karai, watching her nod along to his statement, a bit of her own sadness now apparent once he brought it up. โ€œWell... I kind of struggled explaining that to your mother, and we didnโ€™t speak to each other as kindly as we wished.โ€
Karai nodded slowly now, looking at her hands that she fumbled with nervously. โ€œPapaโ€ฆ Will you be mad at me if I feel like mama?โ€
The words caught him off guard, gaze softening as he watched Karaiโ€™s bottom lip tremble, and eyes gloss over ever so slightly. He moved his hand hesitantly, placing it to the side of her face while shushing her softly. โ€œNo, Karai. I wonโ€™t be.โ€
โ€œOkayโ€ฆ Cause I donโ€™t want you to leave either.โ€ As soon as she could finish the sentence, she let out a wail, immediately wrapping her small arounds around Donnieโ€™s neck, hiding her face in his shoulder as she cried.
Oh, he was mere seconds away from just falling apart, quickly wrapping his arms around her as he rubbed her shell gently for comfort, trying his best to calm the girl down, but he knew it would all be in vain.
โ€œMe too, Kโ€ฆ Me too.โ€ Is all he could say without crying, and even then his voice had a waver in it. He carefully pulled her away, cupping her face while she sniffled, eyes now puffy while keeping in anymore sobs so she could let her poor father speak.
โ€œYou know how everyone has mommies and daddies, right?โ€ He asked her, earning a small nod. โ€œYou know how much they love their babies as much as me and mommy love you and your siblings?โ€
Again, a nod, but Karaiโ€™s brows were furrowed in slight confusion. โ€œWell, out in Nevada, there are families there, and their just like us. But they donโ€™t have any protection from the Krang like we do, and those families could lose their babies, or moms and dads. Thatโ€™s why I have to go with your Aunt April to help them.โ€
Karai took in the words, watching Donnieโ€™s facial expression change as he watched her for reaction. โ€œBecause I know it seems hard for me to express it, but Papa really cares about those people, now that he has a family of his own, he understands that constant state of fear, and he wants to make sure he can protect everyone who needs him.โ€
He saw so much of Tamsin in this moment the way she looked at the ground, brows furrowed, she knew like her mom, he had to leave, and she couldn't do anything.
He tilted her head back up to look at him, eyes softening as he offered his best look of comfort. "Do you understand?" He asked her quietly.
"Yes, papa." She sniffled, wiping her nose with sleeve. Donnie placed his forehead against hers, closing his eyes and sharing a quiet moment with his eldest daughter, inhaling deeply and exhaling, allowing her to follow, copying his actions so she'd calm down.
"I love you, Karai. And I need you to help put your mama as much as you possibly can while I'm gone, okay?"
He felt movement against his forehead, indicating her nodded. "And you know your mother and uncles will be there if you need them too, right?"
"Mhm." She mumbled. He pulled away, rubbing her head gently with a warm smile on his face. "I'm so proud of you. You're braver than your old man right now, I'm just a total coward compared to you."
He earned a giggle, lifting her head up, Karai returned the smile. He stood up, groaning a bit at the small pop from his joints.
"Time for sleep. I'll be in to tuck you in and your siblings into bed before you know it."
"Yessir." Karai responded, rubbing her puffy, but now tired eyes giving once last hug to her dad's side before walking away, leaving Donnie in the room alone once again... At least he thought he was alone.
Tamsin stood in the hall, barely peeking out from into the kitchen. She heard everything, her daughter crying, the soft moment shared between them, and Donatellos words.
He spoke so kindly to Karai, said exactly what he meant to say to Tam, and she was so blinded by anger to give him the time to say it.
The crushing weight of everything finally came crushing down on her, placing her hands over her mouth to try and keep in any more emotions just waiting for her to let her guard down.
She knew she messed up. Bad. And she had to talk to her husband as soon as possible.
โ€๊—ฅ๏ฝž๊—ฅโ€ โ€๊—ฅ๏ฝž๊—ฅโ€
Soft snores filled the crowded room of children, all sharing the small space making Donnie feel just the littlest bit bad. Noted he'd make extra rooms as soon as he returned.
The room was dimly lit by a purple nightlight in the wall, all the children sleeping in a large turtle-pile on top of the mattress with blankets swaddled around each little sleeping bodies.
He crept inside, seeing Karai had already crashed on her small makeshift bed against the mattress, hand atop it to hold one of the twins small hands.
He felt his jaw tighten at the sight. It'd be like last time he'd see them for three years. The moment he shared with Karai would be the last time he ever heard her cry, laugh, he'd see her smile, pout.
Itd be the last time he'd come say goodnight to his children in what felt like wpuld be an eternity, his sweet boys he was so proud of, who would grow to be the greatest creations of his life.
He got onto his knees, hunching over and placing a kiss to each of their foreheads, trying to keep in laughs at their reactions, a bitter sweet chuckle wanting to so badly be freed from his throat.
Jeremiah simply nuzzled deeper into his pajama sleeve. David scrunched up his nose with a pout on his face. And he had to pull away swiftly before any of the twins latched right onto him, then he'd never be e able to leave...
How he wished he could to that.
And Karai, she must be forgotten to take off her bandana, he carefully took the chance to pull it off her hear gently, in the process cupping her face.
Some weird stinging sensation started in his eyes, trying to blink it away as best he could, he sucked in his bottom lip, trying to keep it from trembling.
He shakily placed his lips to her forehead, pulling away to see her face had relaxed even more than before. Acceptance.
He fought desperately to turn himself toward the crip where his newborn Maggie slept soundly, unaware of what was happening-of who her dad would be, she'd never know who he was.
Hs stepped closer, vision blurring, heart beating loudly. She'd only have stories, pictures of him, she'd never heard his voice, unless it was video logs.
A quiet sob escaped, wracking through his entire body as the dam in his eyes nearly broke.
She'd never feel his embrace, he'd never hold her small body that merely fit in the palms of his two own hands.
He looked in the crib. The tears practically poured from his eyes, catching him by alarm for only a mere second, but then he could care less. There was no point anymore.
They fell onto her purple blanket, thankfully missing her small face and risking waking her up and half of the house. She was so small, he couldn't lean over and kiss her, only place his hand into the crib, placing his finger against her small palm, watching her instinctly wrap her tiny fingers around his one large one.
That was it. It was it a long time ago, from the second he got the news he'd have to basically abandon his new family, never be able to see them until his own eldest was practically a teen... He wasn't ready, he felt like throwing a tantrum like a toddler would when they didn't want to leave a toy shop.
Silly, I know, but it was truly how he felt in that moment.
He pulled away from Magdeline's small iron grip, watching her chubby arm curl back into the warmth of her blanket.
โ€œOur own newborn daughter will not spend the first few years of her life with her father."
The words echoed in his empty mind, the only thought that seemed to replay every second while he watched the young softshell. She was unaware. She'd be unaware of his existence, and he could do nothing to stop it.
He bit down hard on his bottom lip, trying to keep in any more of these tiring emotions. It'd never hit him this hard before, he felt like he was seeing his entire life being thrown away, he felt vulnerable. He never had and he never wanted to ever again.
Why now? Why couldn't he show how much love and heartbreak he was truly going through earlier? Days, years ago even! Why was it now he was able to show how he truly felt inside, when it'd be the last?
He couldn't take it. He pulled himself away from the crib- it felt like he was trying to pry his own self from a Krang Bio growth he struggled so hard against some unknown force to leave.
Stepping to the door, he took one final look back, one final sight of his children all sleeping soundly, all knowing what was to come, and yet, they were probably stronger than him in that moment.
And After this "final glance" which was a wopping five minutes, closed the door.
Wiping away the fresh tears bitterly, still keeping his lips shut tight as to not let another sob escape on his watch, he trudged toward his room, his feet feeling as if they weighed thousands of pounds.
He had to get some sleep at least- to be fair it'd probably be mere hours of sleep, the rest filled with him and his thoughts.
His hand hovered on the button to open the mechanical door, hoping to whatever above he didn't look as awful as he felt. Yet he had no energy at the moment to fix his appearance.
As soon as the door swiftly opened, he was met the the sight of Tamsin sitting criss-cross legged on the bed. Her eyes immediately glanced up, widening. She scrambled up, pushing away a box of what Donnie assumed was old family photos.
"I..." She tried to fix her messy hair, standing awkwardly against the bed, hands folded behind her back. "Think we should talk. Really talk." She sounded ashamed, looking to the side at the boxed photos.
Donnie's hand slid down the doorway, frowning even more than before. "Tam, you don't have to-"
"I do, though!" She whispered, looking back up to him. "I heard what Karai and you were talking about... Donnie I should've known what you meant."
She ran a hand through her hair, beginning to pace. "I should've understood that you're going through just as much trial as the rest of us- maybe even more."
"Tam-" Donnie was quickly cut off.
"I know you have a hard time with emotions, but that doesn't meant they aren't there, and I completely threw that away with you."
"Tamsin, let me just-"
"No!" She stopped, turned away from him, but she could sense how close he had gotten already "Cause you're going to say sorry and you shouldn't have to- I should."
She felt her face get hot, her eyes burn and her breathing quicken, vision blurring already.
"I think we both need to say sorry." She felt gentle hands slowly wrap around her waist, snaking his arms to pull her into some kind of hug. "I don't want to leave knowing we fought as our last time together."
He felt her almost crumble in his hold, she felt so fragile- like one move and she would shatter like porcelain.
"So will you look at me so we can apologize?"
She stayed silent, Donnie frowning further more. "Tam, please." He pleaded, fighting the urge to just turn her around himself.
She shook her head. "I don't want to." Her voice came out frail.
"Look at me." He whispered, pulling her closer to him, feeling her hands tightly grab his where they laid against her sides.
"I can't." She choked, her body shaking against his own. His brows furrowed, hold tightening a bit. "Why?"
"Because it'll be my last memory if you."
The tears fell. Soaking her already damp sleeve. She was getting so sick and tired of crying already three times this day, the last two over such silly things.
His arms left her sides for a moment, making her believe he was leaving for bed, she then felt his hands grab her shoulders, pulling her around to fully face him.
She didn't have time to bow her head, immediately making eye contact with him, and it destroyed her.
Donnie had a smile on his face, he tried to hide what he had felt and what he was currently feeling, but tears streamed down his face, making Tamsin gasp.
"Oh, Donnie," She cried just as much, she was just as broken about him leaving as much as he was going. She wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. "I'm so sorry." She cried.
Donnie hugged back tightly, and that was Tamsin's Cue to just fall apart. She fell limp against him, causing Donnie to slowly fall to his knees, still holding her with his head buried into her shoulder, hands clutching desperately at her sweater.
"I'm sorry too. Im more sorry than you can imagine." His voice stated, muffled, but she heard it. "But I love you even more."
They stayed like that for a while, holding each other in their arms for what felt like hours, but they wished was eternity. Donnie felt as if he let her go she'd be gone. Like if he pulled away he'd be on that shuttle to Nevada, and this was all some dream.
Hed have to leave eventually, he knew he did. But for now, he just wanted to be held by his wife one final time.
Just One Final Time.
โ€๊—ฅ๏ฝž๊—ฅโ€ โ€๊—ฅ๏ฝž๊—ฅโ€
sun gleamed through the torn curtain, landing straight on Tamsinโ€™s eyes. She winced away, groaning tiredly as she rubbed her burning eyes.
Her throat felt dry, and her nose was stuffy, like one would feel if you were sick. But she knew why she felt like this, she just needed a bit to finally realize it.
Her arm felt onto the other side of the best, feeling for a figure.
She was met with nothing, just cold sheets of someone having left hours ago. Her eyes fluttered open, quickly lifting herself up to see.
He had left. He was now truly gone.
She stared at the empty beside for a while, trying to zone out in wallowing thoughts as her heart ached almost unbearably. They had made amends, so why did she feel so betrayed?
Why did she feel her whole life was ripped away from her in an instant snap of the finger. Who took it away, and when will she get it back?
"Mama?" The meek voice brought her back to reality quickly, looking toward the opened door. Karai stood there, with her siblings all behind her, waiting for something of their mother.
Karais eyes looked around desperately, the look on her face got Tam choked up already. Karai finally looked back at her mom, eyes gleaming.
"Did he really leave?"
Tamry didn't want to answer. She didn't want to say it, she didn't even want to think it because she knew it was true, her kids knew it was true, but something about hearing someone say it has truly happened causes a world to fall into despair.
She just slowly opened her arms, motioning for Karai and the other kids to come see her.
Karai waisted no time, letting out a small whimper before running right toward her, jumping onto the bed and hugging her mother tightly.
The other children followed right along- but there crying wasn't as kept quiet as Karai was. They may have had a difficult time understanding exactly why they were sad, but mom and big sister was crying, so something not good had happened.
She held all her children close, placing her head atop Karais carefully, rubbing as many little backs as she could to bring some comfort she too had a hard time feeling in that moment.
This would be a long three years... For the both of them.

Surprises Part Two
Part One Here!๐Ÿ’œ
๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝSo, no discomfort or pain that may be concerning?โ€ Draxum asked, his back turned to the two as he worked with some things on his counter.
Donnie carefully helped Tamsin onto the hospital bed- er, well, what was simply a pile of dirt and rubble shaped as an almost bumpy bed with thick layers of cloth laid upon it.
โ€œNo, but Iโ€™m a little worried about my rapid growing, Itโ€™s only been three months and I donโ€™t remember having a bump this big this far along.โ€ Tamsin said, shimmying on the bed a bit to try and find a comfortable position- but either way sheโ€™d end up with a rock or something poking into her back.
Donnie nodded along with everything she said, a hand on her arm and the other still holding hers, watching Draxum carefully, hoping for some answer.
Draxum hummed a bit, turning back to them while holding some notebook, flipping through it to show what was possibly a list of patients who fought in the alliance that were injured, ill, or possibly having a family themselves.
โ€œAnd itโ€™s caused a worry?โ€ Draxum finally spoke, stopping at one page and reading some notes scribbled in the side with red ink, fixing his glasses that hung low on his snout.Donnie answered this time, allowing Tamsin to try and scoot closer to to him where he sat. โ€œI know I donโ€™t know much about all of this, butโ€ฆ Should we be panicking?โ€
The edge in Donnieโ€™s voice even surprised Tamsin, taking a moment to stop her actions and look up at him, but his face was stoic, and waiting for whatever harsh reality Draxum could possibly have.
Draxumโ€™s eyes lifted from the page slightly, coming to a halt from his ongoing paces across the room, his eyes slowly looking to Donnie, who had leaned in a bit to study Draxumโ€™s face, like Draxum did Donnieโ€™s.
The Yokai closed the book and swiftly tossed it over to his desk, hitting the surface with a loud flap noise. โ€œIโ€™m afraid I canโ€™t give you a clear answer unless Iโ€™m able to run an ultrasound.โ€ He said as he took a step to the opposite side of Tamsin, awaiting what the couple would say.
They both exchanged a look, Donnie making sure Tamsin was fine with it, to which she gave a soft smile and nod, turning to Draxum and repeating the action. โ€œNot the first time, letโ€™s do it.โ€ She sighed.
It was true, Draxum helped out with every ultrasound needed whilst she was pregnant, and all the other things needed when there was a lack of hospitals in an apocalypse. For that Tamsin and Donnie were extremely grateful. โ€œVery well.โ€ Draxum spoke, large pink and purple vines creeping up from under the ground carefully as to not disturb the surface above, both the vines at Draxumโ€™s sides.
Tamsin carefully lifted her shirt up and over her stomach, the cold air hitting her bare skin and rough surface beneath that was slightly covered by the fabric against her caused a shudder in discomfort. Donnie in response, rolled on the wheely chair he sat on and tried to get closer to her as best he could, his leg bobbing up and down anxiously.
The vines then slowly pressed against Tamsinโ€™s stomach, beginning to create odd trails and tracings of the purple growth all around the swollen belly, Draxum muttering to himself as his ears twitched, hearing for something.
Tamsin looked down at the growth with a bit of a sneer. It was always a bit creepy to look at, let alone with how similar it appeared to Krang growthโ€ฆ Which she and many others didnโ€™t have a good history with.
She decided to not ask or ramble on to Draxum in that moment, seeing as he was listening for things and needed focus- also the furrowing of his brows made her stomach churn nervously, so she tried to get her mind off of what would be the worst, she turned to her turtle husband.
โ€œScared?โ€ She asked quietly, watching as Donnieโ€™s eyes fell back onto her, turning his head to fully face her and answer her question. It took him a moment so he could take the question in- and with that he gave a prideful smirk, straightening his posture while finding a hand to his chest.
โ€œPlease, weโ€™ve done this enough times to be prepared!โ€ The softshell spoke, using the one hand he had that wasnโ€™t intertwined with hers to count down things. โ€œWe have the old clothes, toys, items, crib, and itโ€™ll be surrounded my loving siblings. This isnโ€™t our first rodeo! We are perfectly ready-โ€œ
โ€œInterestingโ€ฆโ€ Draxum said suddenly, in a tone youโ€™d never expect from him, his eyes widening slightly as the hand that had rested firmly on his chin slowly made itโ€™s way to his chest.
Seeing as Donnie and Tamsin said nothing at this point, only staring at him with what could only be read as fear, he assumed he would be able to finish speaking.
โ€œIโ€™m sensing movements from different parts of your stomach that wouldnโ€™t be possible for an infant. For instance, a kick to one side and then suddenly another on the opposite end. Let aloneโ€ฆ Iโ€™m hearing two heartbeats.โ€ As Draxum continued, he made his way to standing in front of them, looking between the two.
โ€œThat, with your change in sizeโ€ฆ Do you understand what I am saying?โ€
Tamsinโ€™s hold on Donnieโ€™s hand tightened, body freezing in place as if she were a statue, eyes darting all over Draxumโ€™s face as if it was some sort of joke from the Yokai, but he stayed quiet and waited for an answer.
Draxum, seeing the sudden change had a small smile twitch at the end of his lips, folding his arms.
โ€œCongratulations, Hamatoโ€™sโ€ฆ Youโ€™re having twins.โ€
Tamsinโ€™s hand made its way to cover her mouth, lip quivering as the largest smile formed on her face. Stinging as the warm feeling of tears glossed over her eyes, letting out a shaky laugh of pure joy. Through her squinted and blurred vision, she speedily spun her head to Donnieโ€™s direction.
โ€œDonnie?โ€ She asked quietly, repeating the statement with more excitement as she hugged his arm happily.
Donnie was frozen. Staring wide-eyed and horrified at Draxum, his dark green complexion was almost pale at this point as the color drained from his face. The look made Draxum himself let out a bellowing laugh.
It was enough for Donnie to be knocked out of his trance, scrambling up to his feet, almost knocking the chair down to the ground. โ€œAre- are you pulling my leg? Youโ€™re- this isnโ€™t some sick prank that Leo put you up to- is it?โ€ Donnie stood, pointing an accusing finger at Draxum, trying to come of bold, but the shake in his voice and timid look on his face didnโ€™t help him at all.
โ€œItโ€™s not a prank. Just science.โ€ Draxum stated with a shrug, amusement on his features as he watched the whole situation begin to sink in and weigh on Donnieโ€™s shoulders.
Donnie stood there for what felt like a minuteโ€ฆ Before he began to lean. He wobbled forward a bit, then back as he stumbled to find the chair again, falling right on top of it as he clutched his head wide-eyed, letting out a shaky breath.
โ€œEasy now- I donโ€™t need you passing out when I have other patients to aid.โ€ Draxum stated, seeming it wasnโ€™t in a teasing manner, and he was being serious about this.
Tamsin could help but laugh, the fresh tears that she fought to keep in her eyes blinked away as she laughed heartily at the state of her husband upon the news, finding his arm again and hugging it tightly, her voice muffled into his shoulder.
โ€œAreโ€ฆ Are you happy?โ€ She asked once her fit of giggles calmed, peeking from where she had hid her face, her smile wavering ever so slightly when Donnieโ€™s head quickly turned to look at her, his mouth slightly opened as his eyes wandered over her face, a rare sparkle in them she only saw in the rarest of moments spent with him over the years.
โ€œAm I hap- come here.โ€ Donnie grabbed her face harshly, squishing her chubby face as he pulled her to his lips, crashing her soft ones into his. He held her face with his hands tangled in her hair, feeling as she brought a hand to the side of his face.
The kiss was a bit messy, due to the fact that Tam was trying to hold back laughs and giggles against Donnieโ€™s lips causing her to wiggle in his hold a bit.
Once he finally pulled away, he still held her face, thumbs stroking her face happily as he touched his forehead to hers.
โ€œTwins, twins! Tam! Oh my Galileo can you believe this?โ€ He responded breathlessly, earning a shake of her head, and giggling from Tamsin, her hands against his plastron.
โ€œWe- we have to double everything! Food, clothes, cribs- possibly? Where are we gonna get it all?โ€ Donnieโ€™s absolute joy and excitement began to turn into worry once more, running a hand over his head as if there was hair.
โ€œDonnie, weโ€™ll be okay! We have everything we need for now and we have plenty of time to figure things out.โ€ Tamsin said tugging gently at his shirt collar to get him to look back at her as he had absentmindedly begun rolling away on the chair while his brain ran a million miles an hour.
Donnie opened his mouth and closed it a few times, blinking furiously as he tried to get his brain (which could probably solve world hunger if he tried hard enough) to function with the right words.โ€œBut- what if-โ€œ
โ€œTrial and error, just like you said.โ€ Tamsin spoke, a finger pointed like she was speaking a scientific statement, remembering back to what Donatello had told her earlier that day, causing him to pause if he had any other argument.
โ€œYouโ€™re more prepared than you think, or at least that youโ€™ll admit. You also said that to me, remember?โ€ Tamsinโ€™s voice softened more that Donnie could ever imagine, almost the motherly tone sheโ€™d use when Karai had a nightmare, or Jeremiah hurt himself running around, or when she would coo and and cradle their only one year old, David.
โ€œWe can do this.โ€ Donnie swallowed down the lump in his throat, lips forming a tight line again as he stared back, giving a small nod as his mouth opened slightly to say โ€˜okayโ€™, but it wasnโ€™t even a mere whisper. Tamsinโ€™s hands retracting from him in case he needed some space to think things over.
She pulled her shirt fully back on again, biting her lip to fight back just squealing with joy, finding her hands laying atop her bump as she thought about all the cute matching outfits she and April could find.
It was only when she saw Donnieโ€™s hand come to the side of her belly, the creaking of the chair as he leaned over to have his face mere inches away.
โ€œYou two better not grow up to be like me and your uncle โ€˜Nardo.โ€ He whispered quietly, placing his forehead on her stomach with a small huff.
With that, he got a swift little kick to his forehead, the sensation faint but he felt it.
Tamsin must have too as she smiled warmly, leaning down to place a kiss to the back of Donnieโ€™s head in return.
โ€œI think you know the answer to that now.โ€ She spoke.
The sweet, peaceful silence was cut off by Draxum huffing, clearing his throat to get their attention.
โ€œYes, while this moment is sweetโ€ฆ I have things to do. Get out.โ€
๐Ÿ’œEnd๐Ÿ’œ
