RESIST AND GIVE IN... to rotation. - Properly rotating from the MIDBACK and strengthening that movement has TONS of benefits including LESS movement/rotation at the low back, which is one of the leading causes of lowback pain. - In this very caffeinated PLYO combo, I'm putting together resisting rotational force (by holding the weight on one side of the body), and then alternating resisting rotation and moving through/strengthening rotation in the plyos. - Strengthening spinal rotators with a lunge is a GREAT way to strengthen your gait pattern as this is how your body moves when you WALK! (Can't get a lot more functional than that!) (The explosive component is just for those who'd like to work on their type 2/fast twitch muscle, human growth hormone, and building lean mass with cardio!) - TECHNIQUE TIPS: 1. Putting your hand on her low back in a hip hinge (esp when training plyos) is a great way to check yourself and make sure low back is staying stable!) 2. Choreographing a HOLD now and again into the combo is smart to check your form intermittently within the fast movement! 3. Pressing your hands into the sides of the head helps minimize the rotation coming from your pecs vs. your mid-spinal rotators. 4. The bonus dance move at the end is NOT part of the combo! Golf swing. To perform this movement efficiently, you need core #strength and #stability. Hips need to have #mobility and create #rotationalforce and don't forget good back and shoulder #rangeofmotion. Work on keeping all these muscle groups strong and mobile. We continue to lose both as we age, so you need to offset this with regular #exercise #dynamicwarmup #massage and #foamrolling
