BOOM! Flex Friday Happiness🔥🔥 Here’s my #flexfriday experiment: train squat and lunge and low trapezius mechanics in between deadlift sets. Here it is! Why not work on perfecting your technique with performing functional movements in between heavier strength sets. That’s efficiency!! AND hurts SO good! Bringing the arms up in a Y in the hip hinge helps to create a counter lever for glutes AND the low intensity of just the weight of your arms helps to access and train these tinier muscles that help to prevent kyphosis as we age against the force of gravity! HIP HINGE cardio! 💥💥💥 Choose a functional movement pattern that you want to get good at and train it with high repetition and low resistance to become highly skilled in that movement. The hip hinge is on of my favorite functional movement patterns to train. It works the glutes (especially with a monster band), AND it is used (or should be used) in almost all activities of daily living. Get STRONG in HIP HINGE! RESIST AND GIVE IN... to rotation. - Properly rotating from the MIDBACK and strengthening that movement has TONS of benefits including LESS movement/rotation at the low back, which is one of the leading causes of lowback pain. - In this very caffeinated PLYO combo, I'm putting together resisting rotational force (by holding the weight on one side of the body), and then alternating resisting rotation and moving through/strengthening rotation in the plyos. - Strengthening spinal rotators with a lunge is a GREAT way to strengthen your gait pattern as this is how your body moves when you WALK! (Can't get a lot more functional than that!) (The explosive component is just for those who'd like to work on their type 2/fast twitch muscle, human growth hormone, and building lean mass with cardio!) - TECHNIQUE TIPS: 1. Putting your hand on her low back in a hip hinge (esp when training plyos) is a great way to check yourself and make sure low back is staying stable!) 2. Choreographing a HOLD now and again into the combo is smart to check your form intermittently within the fast movement! 3. Pressing your hands into the sides of the head helps minimize the rotation coming from your pecs vs. your mid-spinal rotators. 4. The bonus dance move at the end is NOT part of the combo!
