Inspiration Saturday. I haven't gotten much progress done on my cross stitch but this is the art for the fic so I figured I post it anyway.

Rosebud started the morning by opening the drapes to the love room.  “Five more minutes!” David groaned by her side.  Stevie rolled towards her best friend. “We’ve got to stop doing this.” she sighed and kissed his head. “Will we though?” David asked sleepily. 

Stevie got up and stretched her naked body. “Unclear.” Stevie made her way to the washroom, and the shower started steaming on its own.  “Thank you, Rosebud.”

Stevie scrubbed her body with soap that smells like jasmine. “You know you could sell this stuff!” She mused. 

“You honestly think people would buy it?” David’s voice was high, and Stevie often wished that there was a way she could soothe his anxiety.  But magic motels don't even work like that.

I'm too nervous to tag anyone since this is technically a rare ship (at this point)

Some (more than) Seven Sentences Sunday/Fuck it Friday/WIP Wednesday

A couple of weeks ago I started thinking about the conclusion to my Unbroken series, Legacy. It had been awhile, so I am really excited to get back into my little universe, even if not that many people will read it. I've got the rough outline in my head, just need some time to actually write!

Although she did not tell David that day, there was another reason why Ari wanted to stay in Schitt’s Creek for the summer. 

And his name was Steven Schitt. 

Steven was the son of RJ Schitt, grandson of Roland Schitt.

Ari and Steven essentially grew up together. Steven was one year older than Ari. Every time Maddy, Mike, and the kids would come to visit David and Patrick, Steven would be nearby. 

Steven started working at the motel around the same time Ari started helping out at the store. When Stevie decided to cut her workload in half, RJ took her place at the flagship Rosebud, and so Steven essentially grew up at the motel. He was thrilled when Ari told him she would be staying the summer in Schitt's Creek. 

It was four years ago when they discovered they were both named after Stevie. After Roland Senior retired, Stevie kind of took RJ under her wing. There was something about RJ that brought out a different side in Stevie. David used to tease her that she did have a maternal instinct hidden beneath her flannel, to which she would punch him in his arm and tell him to fuck off. 

Whatever it was, RJ loved spending time with her, and learned all he could from her. After he graduated with a business certificate from Elmdale College, it was decided he would manage the Flagship motel. Like his parents, he married his high school sweetheart, and two years later, she gave birth to their son. 

Steven Roland Schitt was named after Stevie and his grandfather. Ari shared how she, too, was named after Stevie and her grandmother. And although Stevie never had children of her own, she became a surrogate grandmother to both Arielle and Steven.  

That summer Ari and Steven had lunch together almost every day. Patrick was the first one to figure out what was happening. He saw them sitting in a booth when he stopped in to get himself and David their afternoon drinks and snacks. 

David was reorganizing the window display when he heard the bell ring. He looked up and saw Patrick smiling his upside down smile.

"Okay - spill it. Why does your face look like that?"

"That's just my face, David. The same face you've seen almost every day for the last-"

"If you really love me, you will not say how long it's been, Patrick!"

"Okay, David. Want your coffee? And would you like to know who I saw at the cafe having lunch with our granddaughter?" 

"Well, if I had to guess I would say the same person who has had many lunches with our granddaughter. Steven, right? So what?"

"They were holding hands, David. I think they are more than just friends."

Yelp review: Rosebud Motel

The bathroom hot and cold faucets were switched and I burned myself. Some doors had flowers outside but not others which looks weird and I think the motel staff killed someone. They trapped us in the lobby and I saw a coroner wheeling out a body. I thought it was a murder mystery game because a woman wearing a wig made a speech about being a murder suspect but no game happened so I think she killed someone fr. Maybe her wig was a disguise not a costume? Idk why she’d confess?

• My favorite scene - It’s like choosing a favorite child! Pfffffff….probably Rose and Joel finally having it out in Jackson. But I have to give a special shoutout to the post-hospital drive/hike, Tommy and Rose reuniting, Joel and Rose contemplating their history in Bill and Frank’s house, Joel and Rose’s conversation in the Kansas City motel, and the Infected fight in the Boston museum.

• My favorite chapter (if it's a multichapter) - ‘As We Were, As We Are’ I worked so dang hard on that one.

• Hardest scene to write - The Silver Lake chapters were taxing. I had to take a lot of breaks during those. But honestly, the hardest one was the last one. I didn’t want to make Joel and Rose getting married too cheesy and it’s a fine line to walk. I also wanted to make their vows sound like ones they would actually say.

• Favorite character to write in the fic - Joel, for sure. He’s ripe with material.

• Favorite dynamic to write in the fic - I mean, it’s gotta be Joel x Rosebud ❤️ It was so fun to write a couple that could be apart for so long and still know each other as well as they did the day they parted.

• Why I chose that title - Bro, I put the most basic title because I didn’t think it was going to be anything 😂 I put out the first chapter as a oneshot and asked if anyone would be interested in it being something more, got an overwhelming response and scrambled. I almost named it something to do with roses but that felt too on the nose so I went classic. But there wasn’t much of a decision process haha

• A fun fact about the fic - Most of the chapters were written between 12-1AM. I was going through a late owl period and I was doing my best writing (for work and for fun) really late so I just leaned into it. I remember those late nights spent with the TYL playlist really fondly ❤️

I have been doing a lot of pre-planning and outlining for my Seashore story. About 1400 words for the next chapter.

I've been trying to think HOW to write a commercial. I'm not exactly sure yet so have the dialogue anyway?

Stevie: Where everyone fits in!

David: I don't like that, Stevie. 'fits in' what? Fits in the rooms? Shouldn't all people fit in the rooms?

Stevie: What do you want our motto to be?

David: Hmm...Where people can feel safe just being themselves and enjoying the beach?

I feel like Moira and Pez would get along splendidly, thoughts?

My thoughts are that you are a genius for thinking of this! I cannot believe I’ve never considered this but you are absolutely correct. Now that I am thinking about Moira and Pez, have some thoughts in no particular order:

- They met at the Met Gala where they were the only two people there who were really committed to the theme but go so far that they’ve almost gone too far (is that possible? idk).

- Of course they hit it off immediately because Moira and Pez are the same level of extra at different ends of the colour spectrum (monochrome vs technicolour). Please imagine the insanely chaotic conversation that would ensue. Writing Moira and Pez dialogue is definitely a weak spot for me so I’m not going to attempt it here but if someone else wants to PLEASE DO

- Moira is immediately won over by Pez and his flattery. Pez is, of course, completely enamoured with her fabulousness.

- Somehow, Pez gets himself invited to Moira & Johnny’s house. Johnny’s eyebrows are sky high when he sees Pez but he says nothing. This is post-Rosebud Motel Group and Sunise Bay reboot success, so Moira once again has a wig room. 

- Pez is certified in wig care and maintenance. By the time Moira finds this out, she has already discovered that Pez changes his hair colour as often as she changes her wigs. She’s got such a soft spot for him that she allows him to try on the wigs.  Alexis finds Moira and Pez in there.

- Alexis has actually already met Pez before, on a yacht owned by one of the many Stavros she’s dated, she can’t actually remember which one.

- Because all of the Stavros are kinda sketchy, Alexis is Worried about Pez being allowed into the wig room and whether Pez is some kind of scammer trying to con her mother. She facetimes David to show him what’s happening. David “doesn’t have time for this, Alexis” and almost hangs up on her but then he sees Pez and demands to know what’s happening and why a person wearing a vintage Balmain jacket that David has coveted for years is wearing his mother’s wigs.

- ultimately, Pez becomes Moira’s unofficial stylist - she needs one because the Sunrise Bay reboot is wildly successful and she is very much an in-demand actress. They often bicker over Pez’s attempts to work colour into Moira’s wardrobe, beyond her wigs. Moira tries to call David for back up over these arguments but he refuses to weigh in. Reluctantly, David accepts that Pez’s style is flawless and he only has Moira’s best interests at heart.

I had another idea for @schittscreekdrabbleblog word this week

She thought she was content sitting behind the desk, wasting away hours playing solitaire between checking an occasional guest in or out of the motel.

Maybe content wasn’t the right word.

Indifferent. Stagnant.

Nothing ever changed; she had accepted that.

Then the Roses walked into her life. Against all odds, they changed her.

When Aunt Maureen died and left her with the place, Mr. Rose helped her not only with the business but envisioning everything she wanted. Everything she could be.

The Rosebud Motel Group was a success. Stevie finally felt the thrill of victory, of no longer treading water.

Adventures of Paper Noah Day 2!

His trip wouldn't have been complete without a visit to Schitt's Creek. @legalgal421 & @youwerealwaysgonnabetheone took Noah to see Goodwood and visit different filming locations.

They saw all of our favorite Schitt's Creek destinations: Rose Apothecary, the Rosebud Motel, Cafe Tropical, and even Herb Ertlinger's winery. They made sure to stop by the Cafe for a tea, and finished the day with some local beers.
