I think I’ve finally pinpointed why I dislike the later seasons of Gilmore Girls (and by this I mean after season 3/4). I just hate how much it resembles a soap opera. All of the ‘dramatic’ scenes and plot lines are overplayed and just don’t seem realistic anymore. Before the show was charming and semi-relatable but, in the later seasons, it just feels like the writing was out of touch. The whole Luke’s secret daughter plot line really adds to this, too. All the characters started acting strange just for the dramatic effect, or at least that’s what it felt like. Maybe this is just me, but the later seasons just feel…off.

they're academic rivals. they do debate together. there is a lot of tension. april/paris inevitably hate sterling/rory's boyfriends as they are "not good enough" aka april/paris are in love with them!!!!!

Something I'm thinking about today is how lorelai was fully disinterested in Max being involved in Rory's life as a parent and hated it when Luke wanted the same with her after April came into the picture. hm. 🤔

so right before the gilmore girls revival came out back in 2016 i outlined an entire AU where luke and lorelai actually did have an oops baby post-5x21 and what that would mean for lorelai’s dynamics with her parents/rory/luke/the new kid/etc. eventually that evolved into:

“what if lorelai had a trans son that she fought with constantly because they shared the exact same temperament? what kind of grandparents would richard and emily be to a grandchild they knew from the beginning? how would they all grieve richard while also having a teenage boy to worry about?”

ANYway. today i unearthed the abandoned Fic and it gave me so many nostalgic feelings, so here is a snapshot that no one asked for or will understand. love you forever victor gilmore <3

Like she realised she was going to play a character who would be hated by the majority of the fanbase. including herself, but it was one of her favourite shows so she didn't care, she was going to take the opportunity.

I'm watching season 7 of Gilmlee Girls and April is getting on my nerves more and more, not as a person, but as a character, she was put there for no reason she's too much like a copy of Rory, the writers are just trying to make her a new Rory.

Maybe this makes me a hater but it’s so funny to me when someone will say the most basic thing in the “hey look it’s the boy/girl who…” format like “hey it’s the boy/girl who watches all the scream movies once a week and reads smutty ass fan-fiction until 3 am on a school night” and then all the comments are “CHAT IS HE IN OUR WALLS” like no pookie you just watched edits of Charlie walker talking Kirby through her own death until 6 am on a Wednesday and the algorithm will never let you live it down

And the fact that they opened the comments and saw 1347890 people saying the exact same thing they came to say just further proves my point that this did not just end up on anyone’s fyp and just so happened to stumble upon someone it applied to exactly, they did it on purpose babe

Current WIP - Thief of Hearts

He stole her heart. She wants it back.

Rory is no angel. Then again, angels wouldn’t last long in Rime, the city of eternal winter and night she calls home. But it is the only place someone with half-magic bloodlines can make a semi-honest living without getting harassed.

Or at least it was until her heart was stolen.

Now she’s got two days to get it back from the thief who took it before she dies. Unfortunately, this also means keeping him alive long enough to get it back, and that’s not going to be easy when most of the city’s magical syndicates have a bounty on his own heart.

Some kinds of magic are illegal, even in an enchanted city like Rime. Emmett’s talent for stealing people’s life forces has put him on the wrong side of the law, and on the blackmail list of one of the corrupt leaders of the city’s biggest magical syndicate.

If he wants to keep what’s left of his family, he has to keep stealing the hearts of his employer’s competition.

One job gone bad, and he’s got a heart with a very determined owner on his track, and a boss who wants him to make things right. That is, if either of them get their hands on him before the rival syndicates’ bounty hunters do.
