Hey. HEY. We aren’t good at understanding how bodies work. I spent five years in undergrad (I was indecisive; graduated with six years’ worth of credits), two in my terminal master’s program, four in med school, and three more in residency. I know a whole lot about how bodies work. I am qualified to tell you that we don’t know a lot more than we do know.
This means that, when you encounter a claim, you need to weigh it against what you have experienced.
I have met doctors who were sure fibromyalgia, or “muscle hurty disease,” from the roots of the word, was just women being crazy. Turns out it’s probably at least partly due to autoimmune dysfunction. Or maybe not! Sure would be nice if we knew! But I sure as shit know it’s real, because I have it and so do the women in my family. Our bodies don’t work right, somehow. They don’t work like other people’s bodies work. I experience more pain than I “should” based on what stimuli other people find painful. I have less ability to build and maintain muscle strength. This has not kept me from doing what I love most in the world, which is have opinions, to the point where I went through the horrifically awful process that is medical training in the US just so I could have opinions all day long and get paid for it. I gain nothing from saying I have it, and in fact risk the opinions of my professional peers if I do admit to it, since it is still seen as a disease of mental or moral weakness. I’m perfectly qualified to self-diagnose, as a board-certified family physician.
And yet I believed people in positions of authority for a long, long time who said it was a mental illness and not a bodily one. As if those even can be distinct, when our brains are part of our bodies and our experience of reality is filtered through their circuitry. But I believed that I was somehow to blame for being in pain.
Life has been better since I accepted that I just need to do some things differently. If I lift weights, I need to use machines, I need to start on the lowest possible setting, and I need to increase very gradually. If I do cardio, I need a low-impact model like an elliptical trainer; running outside, every time I have tried it in my life, results in incapacitating shin splints, even if I try to work up slowly. I no longer buy laundry bins that don’t roll. My home is all on one level. I go to physical therapy. I stash freezer dinners that contain (shudder) vegetables, my least favorite thing, so that when I do feel like shit, I have an alternative to starving (or eating a block of cheese that upsets my stomach).
Accommodate yourself. This society isn’t going to help much, if at all. In your good times and days, be the person whose help you’ll need in your worst days.

Rogan is an technique of cloth printing practiced in the Gujarat, Peshawar and Sindh regions of India and Pakistan. The word rogan has roots in both Persian and Sanskrit, meaning oil. In this craft, paint is made from boiled castor oil or linseed oil and vegetable dyes is laid down on fabric using a stylus.
The process of applying this oil based paint to fabric was developed among the Khatri community in Gujarat and the techniques of preparing and applying dyes was passed down in the family. As rogan printed cloth tended to be less expensive than other heavily embroidered garments but could still produce the illusion of embroidery, it was the wedding garment of choice for women from poorer families. The craft nearly died out in the late 20th century with the availability of cheaper and machine-made textiles. However, it is currently being revived mostly due to the efforts of the artist Abdulgafur Khatri and his family, who work tirelessly to spread awareness about Rogan art and teach it to young people, mostly young women from poor families in order to empower them by providing a means of livelihood as well as keeping the art of rogan alive.

Ok so ya'll know how I wrote this here theory about Malenia and Millicent?
WELL I was watching this video by Zullie the Witch-
youtube
-and holy shit I think she just threw the doors open on a reason why Godwyn seems to be spreading through the land like a tumor.
Just like how I think that Millicent and her sisters are to Malenia what St. Trina is to Miquella AND what Radagon is to Marika...
I think that Godwyn is mindlessly splitting off "aspects" of himself who, since his soul was killed, are also just empty husks
Tumblr media
This all goes back to how Marika, being a Shaman(and a Numen AND an Empyrean and seemly a whole buncha other things) has the ability to both meld her body (like the grafting done by Godrick) with others and also to posses "other selves" like Radagon
Check this out:
Tumblr media
I really think these "cadaver surrogates" are the same thing as whats going on with Millicent/Malenia + Trina/Miquella, its just that since ol Goddy is just a vegetable now-
and you can take that literally wat with how he's hijacked the roots of the erdtree to spread himself across the land
Tumblr media
-his living demigod body is just firing off his godly powers like a glitching machine repeating the same processes because of a coding error or what have you
Tumblr media
these are just really shitty attempts of his power to "split", manifesting itself as weird fungus tumor death growths that taint everything....
....or you could say that they're "melding" with other parts of the land between:

anyway thats wat I've had cooking in my skull for a week!

Potato, Ham, and Leek Soup
Photo from this recipe but it's not the one I used. I ended up doing so much different that it ended up being worth writing out a new recipe.
It's been a minute since I did a what I made this week (haven't felt like cooking, wonder why) but I see no reason for that to mean I've stopped.
Recipe I used under the cut.
This is adapted somewhat from a Spruce Eats recipe that has disappeared from the internet (including the Wayback Machine, yeesh) and this recipe.
There are other ways to make this soup but since this was the easiest for me I'm documenting the specific way I did it.
Ingredients
3 cups chicken stock, 3 cups water (3 tablespoons chicken bouillon in 6 cups water)
1 large onion
3 medium leeks
3-5 cloves garlic
1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
2 pounds golden potatoes
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme (crumbled)
1 cup heavy cream
1 deli boneless ham steak or 8 oz thick deli ham slices
Salt to taste
Optional garnishes: shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, croutons
Instructions
Make chicken broth (if using bouillon) and set aside.
Slice ham into small chunks. Fry in a medium pan over medium heat until brown & crispy. Set aside.
Peel & chop onion finely/into small chunks. Set aside. Mince garlic & set aside.
Cut off the root end and all of the dark green tops from the leeks and discard. Slice the white leeks in half. Rinse the leeks under cold water while separating the layers to dislodge any clinging sand, if necessary. Slice the leeks thinly. Set aside.
For a pureed soup, wash & peel potatoes and cut into small chunks. For a more rustic soup, wash potatoes thoroughly and cut into small chunks. Set aside.
If you have a bag of potatoes that's a little over 2 pounds, in this case that's better. You can go a little over for a thicker soup.
Heat the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, sliced leeks, and garlic and saute until softened and golden in color, stirring frequently.
To the onions and leeks, add the cubed potatoes, thyme, and chicken stock, and bring to a boil. Add salt to taste. Cover the pan and reduce the heat to low. Simmer until the potatoes are fork-soft.
Cool potato and leek mixture slightly. To puree, either run through food processor or beat with egg beater until desired texture is reached. Especially if using unpeeled potatoes, it is ok for them to be a little chunky. It's not lazy, it's rustic. The soup will thicken further after the next step and after it sets.
Return to pan and add cream and ham. Cook an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
Serve hot with the garnishes of your choice. I can deeply recommend shredded sharp cheddar cheese for this one. Substitutes & Notes:
Tip copied directly from the original recipe: Processing hot liquids in a blender will produce steam which can blow the lid off the container, potentially causing a mess and possible burns. To blend hot foods safely, fill the blender about one-third full, and never over half full. Loosen the center cup in the lid. Place a thick folded kitchen towel over the lid and hold it down firmly while you pulse or blend.
Note: same thing if you beat the potatoes, make sure whatever they're in is half full and you stand back a bit if they're still hot.
Chicken broth: Substitute 6 cups of chicken stock if it's easier for you. Listed above is my hack for not having to buy stock and instead use bouillon which is more shelf-stable and easier for me to store, but do whatever works in your kitchen. If you want to make this vegetarian, sub vegetable broth (and forego the ham of course), but you definitely want to use broth or stock and not water.
Potatoes: I always prefer to use golden potatoes for the flavor and texture, but recipes for this soup sometimes call for russet potatoes and if you prefer them, go for it.
Ham: You can sub bacon if you want, I'd just cook & add it exactly the way I did the ham, maybe chop it up after frying it.
Ham Again: The original recipe calls for a ham bone or ham hock, which is exactly how I don't like to eat ham. However if you prefer you can add this when you add the liquid & potatoes, remove it the bone when you're ready to puree (and chop the meat at this time if you need to, adding it back in after pureeing). You can then toss the bone or save it for future cooking.
You can also leave out the ham entirely but I put it in there for the protein. Saves me having to cook something else.
The real trick to this recipe is the mix of onion & leek for a stronger onion flavor, and the butter. Don't skimp on the butter. Trust me on this one.
Dairy substitutes are not my area of expertise so if you want or need to forego dairy, I'd look up a different recipe or do some research on what would work.

From beloved West African cuisine to Canadian road salt, corrosion study opens new path
What does a traditional West African dish have to do with road salt spread across snowy Canadian streets every winter?
The two subjects are equal passions for chemistry Ph.D. candidate Robert Addai, who works in Western's Material Science Addition lab and studies how metals corrode when they come into contact with food and road salts.
It all started with fufu, a common staple in his diet growing up in Ghana. A starchy food that's common in West African cuisine, traditionally fufu is made by pounding cassava, a tropical root vegetable. That labor-intensive process can take hours.
The preparation of fufu has evolved, the same way butter and other food staples have become almost exclusively machine produced. Most people now use a metal "fufu pounding machine" that offers the repetitive pounding action in a hands-free form, Addai explained.

The Hidden Benefits of Forestry Mulching: Less Soil Compaction and Fuel Use
When it comes to land management, especially for projects that involve clearing vegetation, many landowners and contractors may not always consider the most eco-friendly or efficient methods. One approach that is gaining traction due to its numerous benefits is forestry mulching. While its primary function is to clear brush and small trees, the practice also offers lesser-known advantages that can make a significant difference in land development projects. Among these hidden benefits, reducing soil compaction and lowering fuel use stand out as two major reasons why forestry mulching should be on every land developer’s radar.
What is Forestry Mulching?
Forestry mulching is a land-clearing technique that involves using a specialized machine, called a mulcher, to grind brush, small trees, and other vegetation into mulch. Unlike traditional methods that rely on bulldozers, chainsaws, and burning, forestry mulching cuts, chips, and disperses vegetation in a single pass. This process leaves a blanket of mulch that can help protect the soil, reduce erosion, and even promote healthy vegetation growth by adding organic matter back into the soil.
Reducing Soil Compaction
Soil compaction is a common problem during land development, and it can have long-term negative effects on soil health. Heavy machinery, such as bulldozers and excavators, often leave tracks that compress the soil, reducing its porosity and making it difficult for roots to penetrate. This results in poor water infiltration, decreased air circulation in the soil, and ultimately stunted plant growth.

Expert Tree Stump Removal on the Gold Coast: Why Professional Services Are Key
tree stump removal in gold coast is an important step for homeowners looking to keep their yards safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. Whether you're dealing with an old stump that’s becoming an eyesore or a newly cut tree stump that needs to be removed, professional services ensure that the job is done efficiently and safely. In this article, we’ll discuss why tree stump removal is crucial and why hiring experts is the best way to handle it.
Why Tree Stump Removal is Essential
After a tree is removed, the remaining stump can create several problems. Stumps can decay over time, attracting pests such as termites and ants, which may spread to nearby plants or your home. Additionally, stumps can block landscaping efforts, making it difficult to plant new trees, shrubs, or grass. They can also pose a tripping hazard, especially in yards with children, pets, or heavy foot traffic.
Without proper removal, stumps may even start to regrow, causing even more problems in the future. This makes tree stump removal an important task to ensure the health and safety of your property.
Common Methods of Tree Stump Removal
When it comes to tree stump removal on the Gold Coast, professionals use a variety of techniques, depending on the size and location of the stump. Here are the most common methods:
Stump Grinding: The most popular and efficient method, stump grinding involves using a powerful machine to grind the stump down below ground level. This method leaves the area clear and can be followed by reseeding or planting new vegetation. It’s fast, effective, and minimizes disruption to your yard.
Stump Excavation: For larger or more stubborn stumps, excavation may be the best option. This process involves digging up the entire stump along with its root system. While more labor-intensive, excavation ensures that the stump and roots are entirely removed, preventing any future growth.
Chemical Stump Removal: This slower method involves applying chemicals to speed up the decay process of the stump. Over time, the stump will break down, making it easier to remove. While this method is less immediate, it can be effective for stumps that aren't causing any immediate problems.
Why Hire a Professional for Tree Stump Removal on the Gold Coast?
While DIY stump removal might seem like a good idea, there are several reasons why hiring a professional is often the best choice:
Expertise and Equipment: Tree stump removal requires specialized equipment and knowledge. Professionals have the right tools and skills to complete the job quickly and efficiently, minimizing damage to your yard.
Safety: Stump removal can be dangerous, particularly when heavy machinery is involved. Professionals follow strict safety guidelines to ensure that both your property and their team are protected throughout the process.
Time-Saving: Removing a stump can be a time-consuming and physically demanding task. Professional services allow you to save time and focus on other tasks while the experts handle the job.
Cost-Effective: While DIY stump removal may seem cheaper initially, the cost of renting equipment, the potential for mistakes, and the time involved can add up. Professional stump removal is often more cost-effective in the long run.
Conclusion
Tree stump removal on the Gold Coast is an essential service for homeowners who want to maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained yard. Whether you're dealing with an old stump or preparing for new landscaping, hiring a professional ensures the job is done quickly, safely, and effectively. Don’t let stumps take over your yard—contact a tree stump removal expert today and enjoy a stump-free outdoor space.

Detoxing Naturally with Holistic Approaches to Cleansing the Body
Introduction to Natural Detoxing
In a world filled with processed foods, environmental toxins, and high stress, the need for detoxification has never been greater. But what if there was a way to cleanse your body naturally without relying on harsh chemicals or extreme diets? This is where holistic detoxing comes into play. By leveraging your body’s innate ability to heal, you can promote health and vitality using gentle, effective methods.
What is Detoxing?
Detoxing refers to the process of eliminating toxins from the body to restore balance and health. Our bodies are naturally equipped with mechanisms to remove harmful substances, but sometimes these systems need support due to poor diet, lifestyle habits, or exposure to pollutants.
Why Opt for Holistic Approaches?
Holistic detoxing goes beyond just removing toxins—it addresses the root causes of imbalance and emphasizes overall wellness. It incorporates natural methods, such as diet, hydration, and mindfulness, ensuring a comprehensive approach to cleansing.
Understanding the Body’s Natural Detox Mechanisms
The human body is a remarkable machine, equipped with powerful systems to filter and eliminate toxins. Let’s explore how these work.
The Liver’s Role in Detoxification
The liver is often called the body’s “detox powerhouse.” It processes chemicals, breaks down toxins, and prepares them for excretion. Maintaining liver health through proper nutrition and avoiding excessive alcohol is crucial for efficient detoxification.
Kidneys: The Body’s Natural Filtration System
Your kidneys filter waste from your blood, balancing fluids and electrolytes. Staying hydrated is key to keeping this system running smoothly.
The Importance of Skin and Sweat
Sweat isn’t just for cooling you down—it also helps expel toxins. Practices like regular exercise and sauna sessions can enhance this natural process.
Benefits of Detoxing Naturally
Why should you consider a natural detox? Here are some compelling benefits:
Improved Digestion and Gut Health
A clean gut means better absorption of nutrients and less bloating. Incorporating fiber-rich foods and probiotics into your diet can enhance gut health.
Enhanced Energy Levels
When toxins are reduced, your body can function more efficiently, leading to higher energy and reduced fatigue.
Better Mental Clarity
Toxins can cloud your mind, affecting focus and memory. A holistic detox clears the way for improved mental performance.
Key Components of Holistic Detoxing
Implementing a natural detox isn’t complicated. Focus on these essential elements:
Nutrient-Dense Diets for Detoxification
Eating whole, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins provides the vitamins and minerals your body needs to detox effectively.
Hydration and the Role of Water
Water is a fundamental part of any detox. Drinking enough water flushes toxins and keeps your organs functioning optimally.
The Power of Herbal Teas and Natural Supplements
Herbs like dandelion root and milk thistle support liver function. Incorporating these into your routine enhances your body’s natural cleansing processes.
Lifestyle Changes to Support Natural Detox
A holistic approach isn’t just about what you consume; it’s about how you live.
Mindfulness and Stress Reduction
Stress can hinder detoxification. Practices like meditation and deep breathing help your body shift into repair mode.
Importance of Regular Exercise
Physical activity boosts circulation and supports your lymphatic system, a key player in detoxification.
Getting Adequate Sleep
Your body performs crucial detoxifying processes while you sleep. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality rest each night.
Detoxing Through Food: What to Include and Avoid
What you eat plays a massive role in detoxing naturally. By focusing on clean, whole foods, you give your body the tools it needs to thrive.
Foods That Aid Detox
Certain foods have inherent detoxifying properties. Leafy greens like kale and spinach are packed with chlorophyll, which helps to cleanse the blood. Citrus fruits, such as lemons and oranges, aid in flushing toxins through enzymatic processes. Don’t forget cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts; these stimulate liver detox enzymes.
Foods to Limit or Avoid
On the flip side, certain foods can overload your detox systems. Avoid processed and fried foods, which are often high in trans fats and additives. Limit your intake of refined sugars, as these can cause inflammation and burden your liver. Reducing alcohol consumption is also key to supporting your body’s natural cleansing.
Recipes for a Natural Detox
Want to incorporate these foods into your routine? Try a simple smoothie with kale, cucumber, lemon juice, and ginger, or whip up a roasted vegetable medley with garlic and olive oil. These recipes are not only delicious but also packed with detox-friendly nutrients.
The Role of Gut Health in Detoxing Naturally
Your gut is the foundation of your health and plays a pivotal role in natural detoxification.
Prebiotics, Probiotics, and Fermented Foods
Prebiotics, found in foods like garlic and onions, feed your gut’s beneficial bacteria. Probiotics, present in yogurt and kimchi, replenish these bacteria, fostering a healthy microbiome. Fermented foods like sauerkraut and kombucha further enhance gut health.
How Fiber Supports Detoxification
Fiber is your detox MVP. It binds to toxins and helps remove them via digestion. Aim for fiber-rich foods such as oats, beans, and flaxseeds to keep your system running smoothly.
Top Holistic Practices for Detox
Detoxing naturally isn’t limited to diet. Holistic practices can amplify your efforts and promote overall well-being.
Yoga for Detoxification
Certain yoga poses, such as twists and inversions, stimulate digestion and improve circulation. Regular yoga practice can help the body eliminate toxins while promoting mental clarity.
Dry Brushing for Skin Health
Dry brushing improves lymphatic flow and exfoliates the skin, aiding in toxin removal. Use a natural-bristle brush and gently stroke towards the heart for best results.
Saunas and Their Detox Benefits
Sweating is a fantastic way to expel toxins. Regular sauna sessions promote circulation, reduce stress, and support your body’s natural detox pathways.
Myths and Misconceptions About Detoxing
Not all detox advice you hear is reliable. Let’s bust some common myths.
Understanding “Quick Fix” Detox Myths
Many detox products promise overnight results, but they often deliver little more than temporary water loss. Real detoxing takes time and requires sustainable lifestyle changes.
Why Natural is Always Better
Synthetic detox programs can disrupt your body’s natural balance. Sticking to holistic, natural methods ensures that you’re working with your body rather than against it.
Creating a Sustainable Detox Routine
To make detoxing a part of your life, focus on consistency rather than extremes.
Weekly Detox Habits
Incorporate small habits like drinking warm lemon water in the morning, eating leafy greens daily, and practicing mindfulness. These add up over time to support ongoing detoxification.
Long-Term Benefits of Holistic Approaches
A sustainable detox routine not only cleanses your body but also boosts overall vitality. The results? Better skin, improved energy, and a healthier outlook on life.
Conclusion
Detoxing naturally with holistic approaches to cleansing the body is more than just a trend—it’s a sustainable way to achieve balance and vitality. By nourishing your body with the right foods, hydrating, and adopting mindful practices, you can support your natural detox systems and thrive in a toxic world.

The half saree, known locally as the “Langa Voni” or “Pavada Davani,” is traditionally a two-piece garment consisting of a long skirt and a draped shawl or dupatta, paired with a blouse. The Mangalagiri half saree, however, sets itself apart with the finesse and simplicity of its weaving and designs. Made predominantly from fine cotton, these garments often feature bright, solid colors complemented by intricately woven zari borders. Unlike heavier sarees, the Mangalagiri half saree provides a lightweight, airy feel that is perfect for the Indian climate.
Distinctive Design Features
The hallmark of Mangalagiri fabric lies in its smooth, glossy texture and clean lines. Mangalagiri half sarees are made using a pit-loom technique, a handloom process that dates back centuries. The sarees are dyed with vegetable-based colors, adding to their eco-friendly appeal and producing rich hues that range from deep greens and blues to vibrant yellows and pinks. The fabric often includes silver and gold zari borders, lending a traditional touch while still feeling understated. This classic design is highly favored for festive occasions, weddings, and cultural ceremonies.
Cultural Significance
The Mangalagiri half saree holds an essential place in South Indian culture, symbolizing a rite of passage for young girls. Traditionally, wearing a half saree marked a girl's transition from childhood to adolescence. Today, though it is worn less frequently for daily use, it remains a cherished choice for special occasions. The vibrant colors and graceful drape of the half saree not only enhance the wearer’s elegance but also connect them to their cultural roots.
Why Choose a Mangalagiri Half Saree?
The Mangalagiri half saree has gained global attention for its versatility, blending modern sensibilities with traditional elegance. The lightweight fabric makes it easy to carry, and the breathable cotton is ideal for warmer climates. Moreover, the vivid color combinations and minimalist aesthetic allow it to be styled in various ways, making it suitable for a range of formal and semi-formal events. It’s also sustainable, crafted by artisans who employ traditional, eco-friendly methods in their weaving.
Supporting a Timeless Craft
Purchasing a Mangalagiri half saree supports the rich textile heritage of Andhra Pradesh and helps sustain the livelihoods of local artisans. Maheswari Saree have continued these ancient techniques across generations, preserving a craft that’s increasingly endangered by the rise of machine-made fabrics. Each Mangalagiri half saree purchased is not just a piece of clothing but a piece of India’s artistic legacy.
