hello 2022,
life updates: I SAW BTS!!!!! LIVE!!!! @ PTD LA SoFi stadium and it was amazing, it was literally everything i’ve ever wanted out of a concert. i was crying and screaming and waiting in line for 7+ hours for merch and spent way more money than i should have. but it was all worth it!!! other than that i’ve also been super busy with my new business and i’m vending at some pop-ups all december so my free time is extremely limited. (sidenote, if you’re in the bay area, check out the events i’m vending at! i’ll be at TheBoxSF on 1069 Howard st this weekend 12/10-12/12 and Milk SF at 302 Valencia next weekend 12/18! check instagram for updates on future pop-ups and venturing into the world of brick-and-mortar retail)
i finished HELLBOUND and hoooolyyy shit it was great. i felt about this one the same as i did about Sweet Home, if we’re being honest. huge adrenaline rush, perfect blend of horrifying and intriguing and absolutely loaded with social commentary. both of those make my top dramas of this year, for sure. (DP still #1 tho). i also recently started Happiness and Jirisan, but i’ve sort of dropped the latter. Happiness is cute AF and i love zombie shit so i will keep going with that one but i am pretty behind. i don’t see myself picking Jirisan up again, though i love Ju Ji-Hoon - it just didn’t really grab me and it’s not a genre i’m immediately interested in. right now i’m super limited on time so i have to be a little more picky about the shows i’m watching.... that said i’m COMPLETELY caught up on New World, which is Lee Seung-Gi’s new variet show and oooooohhhmmyyyghod i am OBSESSED!!!! Na-Rae is the queen of thick shorties and i LOVE her. Seung-Gi is also amazing and adorable and i love him to death. such a phenomenal group overall though literally such a funny bunch- i really enjoy the way the show is formatted and the games are really interesting and the group dynamics are super fun. also i will say i think i like Jo Bo-Ah better in variety show than as an actress, loll.. she’s so cute and funny. i like her acting tho still but.. yeah. she’s fun to watch on the show.
what am i looking forward to? more BTS concerts, that’s for damn sure... as well as their instagram journey... what a fun ride that has been and it’s only been a DAY. as for dramas... i am not sure what’s coming up that i’m actually looking forward to. i don’t like to get too hyped about upcoming dramas because i usually end up disappointed (see: DAYS -_-) so i just watch whatever is out + looks interesting in the moment. though i guess you could say i am looking forward to new episodes of New World now that i’m caught up. :)
til next time...

i'm just gonna say it: DP best drama 2021
it was just flawless. jung hae in, koo kyo hwan and kim sung kyun gave some incredible performances. jung hae in definitely deserves some awards for this drama. i am really looking forward to the second season. if you haven't seen this one yet - do yourself a favor and watch it. it really fits the bill for best drama for me- no unnecessary or forced love plots, it was a little humorous, extremely thought provoking, touching at moments, a little tragic... i have nothing for praise for this. a work of art.

hometown cha cha cha
tragically it ended just about as i thought it would. as a lesbian who has been in a similar situation (to have a crush on a close friend) watching this particular trope play out is always painful. it happens over and over again. what i didnt like at all was that they neatly paired everyone into their heterosexual relationships at the end. once cho-hui gave hwa-jeong and yeong-guk her blessing she was forgotten. that is what i hate the most. it would have been nice if they gave her a girlfriend or some sort of opportunity even if it was open-ended, at the end. but they just dropped her completely.

some ‘21 drama reviews
best: racket boys, youth of may, mad for each other, the witch’s diner
all of the above are VERY much worth watching, and very high quality dramas that had me waiting for the next. mad for each other arguably the best on this list (they are all painfully hetero though just like...yeah)
most disappointing: doom at your service (fell flat at the end), run on (they rushed the romance plots soooo badly it was really cringe), sisyphus the myth, tale of the nine-tailed (this was just a hwayugi knock-off for me)
nervous about the ending of hometown cha cha cha (this weekend). i have low expectations for the now-canon lesbian character (ms yu) but i AM happy that it is canon that she is gay/in love with hwa-jeong. i just fear that hwa-jeong will end up back with her shitty husband and ms yu will be left in the dust. happy hetero, sad gay trope (see also: run on)

notice i stopped posting screenshots after they pulled the fast one at the end of this series and she was faking gay and ended up with the artist guy lol
Sooyoung in Run On
#while i did appreciate how she apologized to the actual gay guy who had a crush on the artist dude this whole plot was a MESS#i was so frustrated and disappointed.
