I had such a funny dream last night. My (cis woman) friend showed up with a proper male-presenting set of facial hair, a thick comb-style moustache and needs-a-shave beard scruff. And I was MAD. I said, "listen, I will support and love you no matter how you change and evolve, but I will NOT STAND FOR THAT RON BURGANDY-ASS MOUSTACHE" (tbh it looked more like Ron Swanson but I couldn't remember his name in the dream)

We got into a big argument that was just the two of us yelling over each other incomprehensibly until we both said at the exact same time "RON BURGANDY!" and then just glared at each other dramatically.

And then her husband piped up from the background, "I liked it better when it was more of a Gomez Addams style"

One of my favorite things said by fans of male characters (and often m/m ships) is “I don’t like this canon het ship because it’s sexist! She deserves better!” and they then proceed to never talk about the female character, refuse to ship her with anyone else, and sometimes admit to disliking her. 

And of course, the sexism (which may exist, don’t get me wrong) exhibited by the male character or the narrative isn’t enough to make them dislike that character, let alone find less sexist media.
