Bear with me, cos it's late and I am totally rambling.
SO it was maybe 1993? Had to be, as we were in the last throes of Rave culture. And I meet up with this weird collective of misfits in Sydney who are trying to put together a 'youth' magazine-type Saturday morning series for TV. Somehow they get me involved because (a) I own a Roland TB303 which they need for their music soundtrack and (b) I know enough about animation after one disheartening year at Disney to produce an admittedly limited cartoon for the pilot they are trying to produce.
We hear of this weird little pop culture store in an inner city suburb that doubles as a chronicler of extraterrestrial activity and a support centre for victims of alien abduction, to film a segment with one of the 'victims'. No I am not making this up.
After the segment, the guy who runs the store (Jamie, who later became a really good friend) just randomly says to me "So you've heard about those Sci-fi films that starred Mexican wrestlers fighting monsters right?"
?WHAT?!?
Yep. thirty-one years later and I'm still hooked on this stuff.
:)
*Oh and despite the striking imagery above, El Santo didn't actually go to Mars. The Martians invaded Earth...and were pretty adept in the universal art of lucha libre if I remember correctly.
Hey everyone! Yesterday, on the 3rd of March, I celebrated the iconic TB-303 synthesizer made by Roland with a mix.
For one hour, I took you on a trip through the world of acid showcasing the power and versatility of the TB-303. Whether you're a laidback acid or pumping beats fan, this mix has something for you.
If you missed the live stream, don't worry! The mix is still available to listen to on my channel and as always with links to all the releases I played. I'd love to hear your feedback and thoughts, and if you enjoyed the mix, feel free to share it with your friends.
I'd like to thank my Patreons who supported this show: Dafreeze, Strayd0g, ivan & R. Relique.
