For all the Technoheads
For all the Technoheads (For anyone who doesn't want to read this whole thing, how do you differentiate Techno, especially newer techno since it sounds nothing like the old stuff?) I am posting here since well I'm not active in the Techno subreddit and don't know anything about Techno besides the sounds and the fact Gabber is Hardcore Techno For all of you who are into Techno:Energy Flash - Joey BeltramCan anyone explain to me Techno because I come from Hard-dance and Breakbeat subgenres/genres and recently stumbled across a song called 20 Hz, I knew it was techno but after a deep dive on the history and old school techno, it sounds super different compared to what people call techno now, old school sounds very heavy on the drum machine tr909-808-303 type sound, examples:Vamp - OutlanderWisdom to the wise (Red 2) - Dave Clarkecomparing that to newer songs, obviously some artists are different subgenres like Hardtek, Hard Techno, Minimal Techno, ect. but I've never really learned why new artists sound so different, obviously you have a leap in technology and music production but still what happened to the early sounds of techno, why does modern techno sound so different, and how can I differentiate between the styles?Sound S66 vs OrionI am not against newer techno and I actually enjoy a lot of it but what I've realized is old techno has a charm newer doesn't it could just be my taste in music since I've always enjoyed this type of music. Jump Off the Fuck-in' Roof - CarpenterNinedump - The FlashbulbNewer Techno/Hard Techno/Hardtek just feels super repetitive and feels like the same song again and again with a little bit of a twist.(Sorry for the incoherent mess of a post, it's not really clear what I was trying to ask, but how would one differentiate Techno now since newer stuff really sound like their own genre, correct me if any of this is wrong I'd love to learn more about the genre)Side note: I do know the warehouse sounds and other things are a big give away especially 303 sounds but sometimes I don't know DVS1 Black russian was one I was super confused about until I was told it's minimal techno Submitted June 09, 2024 at 03:59AM by Klutzy-County6627 https://ift.tt/hwJq7l1 via /r/Music
