imagine luisa alver meeting schneider at one of her alcoholics anonymous meetings while she and rose are on the run.  she’s careful about making friends with people who seem too interested after meetings - after that article that took her wildly out of context (they didn’t even mention the amazing sex!  which was the first thing she mentioned!  ugh!), there was always the worry that whoever it was recognized her and just wanted to use her for an article.  but schneider always keeps mentioning this amazing latinx family he’s part of and keeps inviting luisa over to meet them for dinner (because alver and alvarez, they have to be related!), and one day, while rose is still working, luisa goes.  because she loves people, and it’s been long enough that she’s sure schneider is not a journalist and he’s definitely not the member of some other rival gang, rose, she’s going to be just fine, quit worrying, if it’s really that big a deal, you can get off work and come-- no?  okay then, she’ll go by herself. imagine how nice it is to be part of a family again.  and luisa has never met rogelio’s mother so she cannot comment on the similarities (and she has certainly never met his second baby mama darcy), and while she is not cuban, she loves being with the alvarez family.  it’s like being with her mother’s side of the family again - loud and talkative and oh my goodness elena the little lesbian who she adopts immediately as her own child - and whenever rose is at work and luisa has an ache to be back with her brother, she goes to visit the alvarez apartment because it’s always open. imagine it’s not really always open, but schneider gives her one of his keys.  two of his keys.  she has a lot of his keys. imagine one day rose coming back from work and finding their apartment empty because luisa has escaped to the alvarez household again and she takes a deep breath and makes her way to the apartment following luisa’s hastily written instructions, and if she wasn’t a crime lord who had meticulously mapped out the city just in case, she would have gotten lost.  but she makes her way there and luisa’s just playing video games with elena because duh, this is her adopted child and doesn’t even look up because they’re used to people just coming and going and rose sits on the couch next to her and lays her head on her shoulder and when are you coming home, luisa and luisa just oh! and pauses the game and introduces elena to her hot lesbian wife because dreams DO come true!  and rose is completely out of her league because the solano family had nothing on the alvarez family. imagine rose getting along best with elena and syd because hello fellow nerds who will get all of her nerdy references finally someone who gets it.

A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)Rose: I don’t imagine that Rose has had many genuine connections with the people she sleeps with, like she does with Luisa. Saying that, she’s a master manipulator and a good actress, and I think she would be very good at aftercare, even if her heart isn’t in it. At the beginning of their relationship, and especially while she was still with Emilio, when they had to be very secretive, I can see aftercare with Luisa being very rare. It’d be self-preservation, maybe, because if she doesn’t let herself be soft and gentle and loving toward Luisa in those moments, she’s easier to kick out of her bed. That said, Luisa describes Rose as ‘gentle’ when they dabble with bondage, and when the sex turned to something of that nature, I can’t believe that Rose wouldn’t have stellar aftercare because Luisa is the kinda character who needs it and Rose loves her, in her own way, even then. But after – when there’s nothing in the way of them but their own dramatic selves and the circumstances that they’ve gotten themselves tangled into – Rose would find it a lot easier to show her love. Luisa: Oh, the BEST. Easily. Luisa has so much love to give to those that she cares for, and she doesn’t always show it in the best of ways, and she very rarely recognises it when she sees it (or doesn’t, as is sadly more likely), but she’d be a trooper here. She’s probably the only person who could completely take Rose apart in bed, and Rose would only be able to thank her for it afterwards, for how well Luisa puts her back together again - with soft kisses, and gentle caresses, and all the sweet words she’d whisper in her ear. Mainly, though, I think Luisa craves aftercare and the intimacy that comes with it. I think she’d give it so freely and so well because she wants just the same in return, and I think, when their relationship truly begins (when they’re in the sub/on the island, not going behind anyone’s back to be together), I think she’d put a lot of effort into teaching Rose exactly what she wants from her, during and after sex, and Rose would be wrapped around her little finger trying to make up for what she’s done. 

B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)Rose: Rose’s vanity comes to mind here (”Would you repaint the Sistine Chapel?” aedfrdgh girl…. but, a solid point). Inwardly, I think she’s become very good at making herself appear the way that others want her to appear. I think she’d maybe hate it at first, how curly and frizzy it is, especially when she can do nothing about it (on the sub/island), but you know Luisa would adore it. And Luisa loving it, paying it so much attention… Rose would grow to love it herself, I think. (Also, shout out to her legs, because goddamn girl goddamn. They’re a very close second.) Luisa: I’m too horny for Yara Martinez this isn’t going to work… Luisa literally has the perfect body, I don’t know what else to say. Boobs, hips, thighs, belly, hair. I don’t know what to tell you, I’m already distracted. I think Luisa uses her body to get her own way in many circumstances, and her go-to is definitely her breasts and the way she accentuates them/her body movements to distract and appeal to others. She moves Rose’s hands where she wants them, she removes ‘Susanna’s’ jacket before she even realises what’s happening, and the way that she very quickly, very expertly restrains Rose to her bed– the hand on the throat, not applying pressure but there, like a warning, putting Rose in her place. She knows exactly what she’s doing, she’s in total control when she wants to be, and it shows so well in her hand movements. I imagine Rose, who is very used to being perfectly in control of all aspects of her life, would both hate and absolutely fucking love this about Luisa. 

C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)Rose: Okay, so there is the self-inflicted and unfortunate fact that Rose, a lesbian, sleeps with men, and in this instance I imagine that she hates cum. She is also very demanding, especially when it comes to her pleasure, and so I genuinely don’t think that Luisa has any secrets, especially when it comes to the bedroom. She’s not the kind of character that I imagine experiences any kind of shame in taking what she wants, in bed. If a partner were to look at her strangely and ask, ‘you want that?’ she’d sooner smile and tell them, ‘baby, let me show you how good it feels,’ than become self-conscious.

Are there any particular songs that remind you of Rose and Luisa ?? For me it's Poison by Felicity (Luisa's pov)

I haven’t heard that one, but I’ll check it out!

I’m in this phase where I can’t listen to a song without it reminding me of eithr Roisa or Grace/Frankie. Even if it doesn’t fit with them in canon I imagine some AU scenario where it does. Here are some of the highlights:

Jar of Hearts by Christina Perry - Kind of an old song, but it fits really well with them had they broken up on the submarine instead of getting back together. I listened to this three times in a row on the bus and cried lmao

The Harold Song by Ke$ha - a weird fit, but it does seem to fit for the period where Luisa thought Rose was dead and idk, I just always think of them when I hear this.

Water Under the Bridge by Adele - Only heard this one yesterday (I don’t listen to the radio much :P) but it suits s1 Roisa really well. 

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac - this is just a really emotional song that fits most ships well, and Roisa is no exception :)

imagine luisa alver basically playing jessie’s girl on repeat whenever she had a crush on a straight girl or a girl who was already in a relationship and she’d just lay back on her bed and stare at the ceiling and have the song blaring (unless emilio wasn’t on one of his trips, and then she had headphones in but the music so loud she couldn’t hear anything else). rafael grew accustomed to this - to knowing his older sister was all twitterpated every time the music started - and he got in the habit of trying to pull her out of herself. mostly because he got tired of listening to the song really loud on repeat at whatever hour she felt like playing it.

imagine luisa alver playing jessie’s girl on repeat for weeks after finding out that rose is dating her father and she and rafael might not technically live in the same house anymore but there start to be noise complaints in their hotel and he sighs and goes to check on her and tries to get her to talk but she can’t because it’s rose and she’s dating their dad and it’s one thing when she steals rafael’s girlfriend of the week but it’s another thing to steal their dad’s and she still can’t think of any reason rose would choose him over her that didn’t have to do with actual love so what’s the point of even bringing it up?

imagine rafael keeps checking on her and eventually - because he knows his sister has a thing for blondes (re: juicy jordan, re: susanna barnett, re: eileen) - comes in and just gives her this look and “it’s petra, isn’t it” very flat-footed and blunt like he’s finally figured everything out and luisa just pauses the music and turns to her brother with this dead stare and “yes, rafael. you’re right. i’m in love with yet another one of your girlfriends and for who knows what reason this one is actually sticking with you when we know i’m so much more pleasurable” and then before he has a chance to speak she thwacks him and “NO it’s not petra” and he just “who is it then?” and she just shrugs and “does it really matter?” and he “it matters if it’s making you miserable” but she still doesn’t tell him because she can’t and it’s one of the few secrets she’s actually good at keeping.

I'm glad to see more Villadero and Michael fans around, too - for a little bit it did seem like everywhere you looked there was someone badmouthing either him or the relationship. I don't tend to read any spoilers for JtV, so I was totally stunned last night and I'm still sad about it. Jane & Michael's relationship is one of my favorite on television - somehow managing to be both pure and realistic at the same time. So sweet. I miss it (and him) already. 1/3

“What made Jane & Michael magic to me was how well suited they were to each other – how well they knew each other and how they loved each other for exactly who they were. I can’t imagine either of them with someone else (or without each other). I think I’ll continue to watch, but I’m going to see how they treat the Villadero relationship going forward. If they try to put Jane with Rafael, I’m out. That’s my dealbreaker. I agree with this completely, sums up how I feel about the situation. I’m sick of people saying it makes sense and bringing up how it was foreshadowed. Maybe it made sense in the beginning when no one was really invested in Michael. I’m sure most of us wouldn’t have minded Petra to take a bullet to the heart in S1, but now imagine the backlash if they decided to kill her off. It’s things like character development that allow writers to go a different direction and I feel like right now they’re doing the same thing over and over ESPECIALLY with Roisa and how they continue to have Petra regress to this vulnerable person who apparently needs Rafael. I thought they put this to bed in S2 along with this stupid as Jane love triangle. It’s gonna take a lot for me to stick with this show, but I will most definitely be done with it if I see them going the Jafael route at all.

Luisa eased herself down on the couch, leaving verylittle space between herself and Rose, which  immediately drew Rose’s attention away fromthe TV.

Rose smiled and moved her arm around Luisa’sshoulders, pulling her a little closer as Luisa drew her legs up underneathher.

Luisa smiled back and cuddled into Rose’s side. It wasso comfortable in Rose’s embrace she couldn’t quite believe this was her lifenow.

‘So I heard there will be a bonfire in town tonight,’Luisa said, playing with the ring on Rose’s finger. ‘Wanna go?’

Rose didn’t seem very taken with the idea. ‘It’s cold,and rainy, I doubt they will even get it lit. If you want to see a bonfire wecan just watch Imagine Me & You again.’

Luisa wiped the grin of Rose’s face by pinching her thigh.

‘There will be fireworks too,’ Luisa said, droppingher voice into a more suggestive register. ‘It will be romantic. Please?’

Rose turned her head to look at Luisa, her faceunreadable. ‘You had me at fireworks,’ she said, only then letting her smileshine through.

Luisa smacked her in the thigh. ‘You’re such a tease.’

‘You love it,’ Rose smiled, brushing her lips againstLuisa’s.

‘I am just glad we’re going to see the bonfire,’ Luisasmiled, taking the remote from Rose and changing the channel.

‘What are you doing?’ Rose asked.

‘You put Imagine Me & You in my head, so now Iwant to watch it.’

Rose groaned. ‘Again? We watched it yesterday.’

Luisa kissed Rose’s cheek. ‘You brought this onyourself, babe.’

Rose sunk back in the couch cushions. ‘Oh, I know.’

Hours later Rose was still humming the movie’s endcredits under her breath as they put on their warm jackets and made their waytowards the bonfire.

‘Seems like they got it lit alright,’ Luisa said,nodding at the impressive fire burning in front of them.

‘Let’s hope it stays that way,’ Rose said, barelyaudible over the rain hammering down on their umbrella.

Luisa pressed up on her toes and kissed Rose’s lips. ‘Thankyou for coming out with me despite the rain.’

Rose kissed her back. ‘No problem, it’s actually kindof nice.’

As they got closer the heat of the fire made themforget about the rain. They cuddled up under a blanket together, and watch theflames slowly consume the wood.

‘What have you got there?’ Rose asked as Luisa pulleda thermos out of her bag.

‘Coffee for you,’ Luisa said as she passed the flaskto Rose, ‘and hot cocoa for me.’

‘Cheers,’ Rose smiled as she knocked her thermosagainst Luisa’s.

Luisa cuddled up next to Rose, sipping her hotchocolate, watching the fire and listening to the locals sing their weirdsongs.

Time passed by and Luisa had forgotten all about thecold and the now light drizzle raining upon them: she was warm, Rose had herarms wrapped around her and there were fireworks lighting up the night sky. Thingscouldn’t be more perfect.

imagine luisa alver having nightmares about all of the times she’s fucked up and seeing every single member of her family - her mother, all shriveled and corpselike, trying to pull her into the ocean; emilio, with all the disappointment he won’t put on her because he’s trying to help her stay sober but keeps lashing onto rafael; rafael, all burdened with the weight of everything their dad should be putting on her but won’t and all the shadowy eyes from when he had cancer and all the hatred towards her that she knows he has; and even petra, with the nephew she should have had cradled dead in her arms - coming for her and disappointed in her and trying to take her and every time she has the dream, she wakes up crying and she feels so small and useless and worthless and insignificant.

imagine that while she’s in the caymans, luisa has the dream in bed with rose for the first time and she tries to blow it off as a bad dream because when rose wakes up it’s clear that luisa has been crying because her eyes are all bloodshot and puffy and they don’t keep alcohol in the house so she can’t have been drinking (although every time she has the dream she wants to drink, and when she thought rose was dead, rose was in the dream, too, hanging from the ceiling and staring at her with empty, glazed over eyes), and luisa won’t tell her what the dream’s about.

imagine rose trains herself to wake up when she feels luisa curling up tighter to her because she knows that means it’s the dream because luisa doesn’t bury her head that close unless she’s trying to hide and she can feel the tears on her skin. but she never makes luisa talk about it, just reminds her that she’s here and brushes her hand through her hair and just is there.

imagine luisa starts talking about it and she doesn’t know why but she is and she talks about feeling like she’s supposed to be just another version of her mother and she’s so terrified that no matter how much better she’s gotten she’ll always end up like that. and she talks about how emilio treated rafael and how that was her fault, too, even when they were kids because she was brilliant and raf couldn’t ever measure up to her and the problem with being brilliant was that everyone expected you to continue to be brilliant even when you weren’t. and she talks about rafael and how she’s failed him because she couldn’t protect him from their father’s disappointment and she talks about petra and how it’s her fault petra doesn’t have kids and how she’s so proud of petra for giving herself twins but that she shouldn’t have had to do that alone.

imagine luisa finally mentioning how rose used to be in the dream, too, and how even now, sometimes she still is, but not like she was, and how she’s so afraid that she’s going to fail her and lose her like she’s failed everyone else and lost everyone else in her life that she’s ever loved.

imagine rose doesn’t tell her she won’t. she just lays there and listens and lets luisa day everything she needs to say and she doesn’t try and remind her of all the horrible things that were done to her (although when she’s gotten more sleep luisa is reminded about some of the horrible things rose has done. for perspective) and she doesn’t try to tell her that she’s okay and that she’s never done anything wrong because that’s denying her very real feelings that rose can’t quite understand but she’s trying and she doesn’t give her pat answers.

imagine luisa doesn’t need her to say anything. she just needed someone to listen. and the longer they’re there, the less the dream happens until it’s finally completely gone.

imagine she starts having the dream again while rose is in jail and no matter what she does it is the only thing she dreams at the longbourne inn until she starts taking walks and reading books and having time to herself.

imagine luisa forgiving herself and never having the dream again.

the last chapter of carla is now up! i talked a little bit about this in the end note there, but i want to thank all of you who have read and spent time with and commented and etc. this fic.  it really, really means a lot to me.  carla was, i think, my first foray into jtv fanfic, into roisa fanfic (even if it was originally meant to just be a series of luisa focused drabbles on my rp account) - like, my writing roisa fanfic can be traced back to this exploration of luisa and to hollows and if you lived here, you’d be home now, the latter of which i don’t think i would have started without the overwhelming support i got on the first chapter of this fic. so, again, thank y’all so so much for reading this and for the encouragement y’all gave me because honestly i don’t know how much i would have written if not for how well y’all received this. bandit’s a sap, obviously.

today is the twenty-third anniversary of the release of muppet treasure island.
