"This is an excerpt from my memoir, "Love and Truth”.
Roger Waters
This is a true story of My love for two animals Both wild in their own way Which I read to the audience at a Live performance of DSOTM REDUX At the London Palladium On the day after October 7th 2023. Yes, The Campaign Against Anti-Semitism Were outside the Theater that day trying to cancel me. Free Palestine! From the River to the Sea! ✊🏻🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
So Chocolate Charlie Brown was my third brown Burmese cat. This is a drawing of him and his friend Lilly, an Abyssinian, above the skirting board on the wall of my youngest son Jack’s room in the early nineties. This story isn’t about Chocolate Charlie Brown, well, just this first little bit is, but the rest is about a Duck called Donald. First though a brief history of Chocolate Charley Brown, I got him through Keith Butt, the vet in Knightsbridge where I used to take pets to be euthanized on Sunday mornings if they were beyond repair. Like Cloudy for instance, my daughter India’s pet gerbil, she was beyond repair, cancer, (Cloudy that is, not India), poor little scrap. So into the Merc we jumped one Sunday morning after breakfast, Cloudy and I, well Cloudy didn’t exactly jump in, if truth be told, I had to help her in, in her little cage, just the two of us, the condemned Cloudy and me, and a cardboard box for later. Bloody hell, I’m getting a bit weepy. Off to Keith Butt, Mr Butt was already cognizant of Cloudy’s condition, so, look the other way, is it over? The trick before bringing the deceased home was to make her look comfy in her little cardboard box, arranged curled up resting in eternal peace with a garland of forget me nots. After lunch, down the garden, spade in hand, a not very heavy cardboard box, a little girl’s hand, held tightly in mine. Job done.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, Chocolate Charley Brown. The day he arrived he was a wee brown scrap and scared shitless, so I took him upstairs to the bedroom for a settle in. He ran straight under the bed and wouldn’t come out, so I took off my cowboy boots and got into bed in my jeans and dangled enticing things like feathers on bits of string in front of the dark places under the bed. Sure enough after about half an hour the hunting gene emerged and so did CCB’s little paw. I enticed him out into the open and then scooped him up and stuffed him under the covers next to my big warm leg. I was wearing a brown leather belt to hold my jeans up. I’ve still got it, it’s got a silver tip that always flops down. I was sitting up in the bed reading when I saw a tiny paw reach out and bat at the dangling silver bit on the end of my belt. We said hello, and we were inseparable after that. What a magnificent animal CCB was, beloved by all. Well obviously not all, all. He was not beloved by rodents or birds or Brian the gamekeeper from Kimbridge Farms next door. I saw CCB limping one day, favouring his off hind. I couldn’t find anything amiss, nothing broken, but, just to be sure I took him to the local vet for an X-Ray. Bugger me! Three #5 shot gun pellets in his rear end. I went to see Brian.
“Er Brian?”
“Yes, Sir?”
“Happy Christmas Brian, there’s a hundred quid.”
“Thank you very much Sir!”
“You’re very welcome…….. Brian, If that big old brown cat of mine is still alive next Christmas there’ll be another hundred, and so on until he dies of natural causes.”
“I hear you Mr Waters, can I ask you a favour?”
“Anything Brian”
“Could you put a fluorescent collar on ‘im sir? Make my job a lot easier, that would.”
Anyway, one summer I hear the cat flap bang, and in comes CCB with, as usual, something dead in his mouth. He flops down in front of the AGA Stove, (half central heating, half cooking, much beloved in posh country kitchens) panting.
“What you got there Charlie?”
“Oh nothing much, just a newly hatched duckling, I’ve already eaten all it’s siblings and I’m a bit full. I’m just gonna rest here for a minute and then eat this‘un later and then I might go for a kip in the laundry room.”
“Jesus Christ Charlie, let’s have a look, oh for fuck’s sake it’s still wet.”
“Cats will be cats son”
“Jesus! Come on little‘un it’s the bin for you. Fuck me it’s still breathing, Jesus! Charley!”
“Oi! where are you going, I was looking forward that.”
So I put the wet scrap of baby bird, bits of shell and all, out of reach of the magnificent beast and went in search of a shoe box. Got one. Screwdriver for holes. Dap, dap, dap, dap, dap, dap, dap, dap, dap, dap. That’s enough, it’ll never live anyway. Where to put it? I know, guest bathroom on the radiator.
Next morning drinking coffee. Halfway through second cup….! The shoebox! I better go and clear up the remains. So, I run up the stairs and go into the guest bathroom.
“Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi”
Fuck me! Open the lid. Oh my god it’s a fluffy brown golf ball with a little yellow face and a line of mascara through its eye!
“Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi “
“Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi”
“Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi?”
“Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi?”
“Tsi Tsi Tsi”
“Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi Tsi”
Translation; Mallard to English.
“Mummy, Mummy, Mummy, Mummy, Mummy,
I’m hungry, I’m hungry, I’m hungry, I’m hungry, I’m hungry,
Where have you been?
Where have you been?
I was frightened,
Mummy, Mummy, Mummy, Mummy, Mummy.”
It was Donald.
“Fuck me! ……….. What do they eat?”
“What about milk ?”
“Milk! Don’t be stupid, when did you ever see a duck with tits?”
Ducklings should be fed a diet of mealworms and plant matter at an early age, though grasses tend to make baby ducks bloat. Wild ducks tend to stick to whatever bugs they find, and they will eat food that is fed to them by park visitors or guests. Bread has been long regarded as a bad thing to feed wild birds.
“Oi, no bread!”
I probably went out to try and catch bugs on the river that runs through the garden. Duh! Have you ever tried to catch a bug? Exactly! It probably didn’t take me long to read up on it.(Roger all through your life you’ll be faced with many challenges, my advice is to read, read, read, read. Thanks Mum.) Dried mealy worms mixed with crushed barley or oats, and water of course. Donald stayed in the guest bathroom for the first week or so, except of course at my bath time when he came into the master bathroom for bath time with me.
What bliss, my own duck to play with in the bath. Donald loved bath time, swimming about and then coming up onto Mummy’s chest for a snuggle and a bit of chin peck preen time, then back into the warm water.
What has always intrigued me is how can something that small produce that volume of duck shit? I mean, the guest bathroom floor was knee deep after a couple of weeks. I know you think I’m exaggerating; you’re thinking.
“How could it possibly be knee deep?”
“Ah, well that’s because you’re thinking Mummy knee deep, I’m talking Donald knee deep, which as you can see from the photo is only about half an inch.”
Anyway Donald grew and grew, I taught him to swim in the bath, even thought of buying him a plastic duck to play with……..no I didn’t!
The guest bathroom started to pong a bit, and it was a warm summer, so I decided to build Donald a run in the garden. We had a very small stream, only about a foot wide, that ran from a parallel carrier stream across the lawn under some cherry trees to the main river. Perfect.
I got some chicken wire and built an enclosure which spanned the stream. Running water, fox proof, enough bank for a snooze, in sight of the chairs on the logia, heaven. The long summer days of, what? 1993? Passed. Donald grew and grew, never losing his attachment to me, his Mummy. We used to go for walks together down the garden, never too close to the main river, I was always afraid of him falling in. Stupid I know. I was living at the time with Pricilla, my Jack’s mum, and we were in the habit of sitting on the logia at the cocktail hour with a very large vodka and cranberry juice each. I know, I know, but in those days we didn’t know any better. Anyway, Donald would always come and sit with us and preen a bit and quack-le quietly until bedtime. I’m not sure how many months passed before one day I looked at Donald and I thought, fuck me shouldn’t his head be starting to turn green? Christ almighty! Donald’s a girl! Well, too late to change his/her name now. Thank god, (NTTIAG) as far as we know, ducks don’t have pronoun issues.
One day, as September approached, I was looking at Donald over the rim of my vodka glass thinking, that duck looks almost full grown, when another thought occurred to me………………………..?
“Christ she can’t fly.”
So I called her over and picked her up and held her between my thumb and the four fingers of my right hand, half way between her lovely neck and her beautiful webbed feet, like a fat feathered paper dart, and pointing her slightly up, launched her forward. She didn’t even flap her wings, just nosedived into the turf at my feet, looked over her shoulder at me disapprovingly and waddled off to lick her wounded pride.
“Jesus Mummy! Why’d you do that?”
It was a conundrum, how to teach Donald to fly, until one day walking down the edge of one of the paddocks on my way to give Mossy Fern (Retired racehorse) some polos, I was going too fast for Donald who broke into a stumbling waddle-y run and then instinctively put out her wings and flapped and flew for about five yards before crashing. Eureka! We started to practice every day and before long if I broke into a run she would fly beside me at shoulder height,
“Look at me Mummy I’m flying!”
She didn’t fly away. Until one day she did.
“Where’s Donald?”
“I don’t know I haven’t seen her.”
I’m a bit weepy writing this………I mean it was great that she’d gone off with her friends to the barley stubble or wherever they went, but……………well it left a big hole.
Then a couple of days later, a few ducks landed by the bridge, below the top pool, near the house, when we were sitting in front of the logia with our Vodkas and cranberry juice, and one of them swam over, calmly climbed the steps out of the river, walked across the lawn and sat down next to us.
“Hello Donald.”
“Quack, quack,”
She did that several more times that September, until finally she didn’t.
I confess, though it pains me to admit it, before 1993, I would occasionally take the odd barley fed mallard off the river in September, delicious.
That was thirty years ago.
I never did it again."

has anybody sent in something for our loverboy hockey!eddie yet 🥹 if not here you gooooo
jealousy, ex!boyfriend, angst to fluff please 🥹
for my loveeerrrrrrr <3!!! ofc had to make the ex a lover, sunshine boy too so it's sunshine vs sunshine bc i'm feeling evil lol.
"You know, I've fuckin' missed this so much." Eddie grinned at you from across the booth, leg shaking with excitement, fingers drumming on the table, over the laminated menu of the diner.
"Yeah?" You giggled. "You missed Benny's or you missed me?"
"Both." Eddie grinned back, toothy and wide in a way that made your heart swoon. "Missed you the most, sweetheart, you know tha-"
A man stopped in front of your table, his name leaving your lips before you could recognize him- Ryan.
"Hey," You blinked, a squeak in your voice that had Eddie's attention snapping to you. "Ryan- uh, how have you been?"
"Good, ya know? Busy at school. I'm trying for the Principal job at Rogers Clark Elementary."
"Oh? You got your degree? I didn't know you went back to school."
Eddie burned at how your attention was on this guy, whoever the fuck he was. A frown pulling at his brows, knitting them together nearly petulantly.
"Yeah, I decided to go back. I love being a teacher, ya know, but longterm... Just needed to make more money." Ryan nodded, just as bubbly and nice as you remembered. You certainly had a type.
His eyes flashed over to Eddie. "Oh, uh, Ryan this is my boyfriend, Eddie." You swallowed the awkwardness.
"Oh, shit. I know you." Ryan grinned, reaching his hand out to shake Eddie's. "You play for the Reapers, right?"
"Yeah, I do." Eddie nodded, his voice a little tighter than usual, so was his grip on Ryan's hand when he shook it.
"I caught the end of the game last week, it was unreal. What a way to end the season." Ryan nodded.
"Thanks, yeah, it was. It was a good season." Eddie smiled lightly, looking over at you. "Glad to be home now."
Ryan looked from Eddie to you, nodding awkwardly. "Sorry, I'll let you two get back to it. Just wanted to say hi."
"Good to see you, Ryan. Good luck!" You waved to him as he walked off, turning back to Eddie, greeted by a rather sulky pout.
"What?" Your lips curled gently.
"Was that Ryan-Ryan?" Eddie frowned. "The ex?"
"Yeah, the ex." You nodded awkwardly, flipping the menu over. "Are you getting chocolate chip waffles? Or an omelette?"
Eddie didn't reply, face still long in a pout, arms crossing over his chest. "What?" You looked at him, a soft, lifted brow in question. "What's wrong?"
Eddie looked at you, then back over his shoulder. "Why were you all happy to see Ryan?" He said his name with disgust.
"Happy? I don't think I was happy." You rolled your eyes lightly. "I was being polite."
"Yeah, well, he was too polite to you." Eddie grumbled, sulking over the table. "Weird guy."
"Eddie," You laughed lightly, setting down you menu. "Seriously?"
Eddie didn't let up, his frown furrowing more, lip jutting farther. You giggled at his petulant look, sliding out from your side of the booth, and into his side, your body pressed up against his.
"You don't have to worry about Ryan or anyone, baby, you know you don't." You muttered, wrapping your arms around him, pulling him close to you. Your lips ducked under Eddie's waterfall of curls, peppering kisses to his cheek until you felt them tug, curling in a soft grin he tried to hide.

First Crush - 5

You arrive at the Tower, Abby woken up early, excited about surprising Bucky. She holds your hand and does her version of skipping as you make your way to Bucky's office. You run into Captain Rogers in the hallway, "Abigail Rose! Good morning! Hey, Y/N. What are you guys doing here?"
"Hi Cap. Do you remember Captain Rogers, Abby? He's Sergeant Barnes' friend."
"Morning, Mr. Captain." Abby moves closer to you & wraps an arm around your leg.
"Abby wanted to leave Sergeant Barnes a surprise."
Kneeling down, "You brought Bucky a surprise?"
Abby nods cupping her hands around her mouth, "It's secret."
"Oooh, ok." He smiles at her, "I better let you guys get to it. Have fun."
*****
Bucky dropped by his office on his way to the gym to get in a workout. His phone bings with a text.
Steve: Incoming. Surprise headed your way.
Then he hears Abby's chattering approach his office. You lightly knock on his open door & Abby squeals & jumps up & down.
"Abby! How are you?"
She looks up at you and you smile, giving a small nod before she runs over to Bucky's side. "Mr. S'gent, you're home!" He notices, she places her hands on his Vibranium arm while hopping up & down & it makes him laugh.
"You can call me Bucky."
"Mr. Bucky."
"No, just Bucky."
Nodding, "ok." Her smile is from ear to ear.
You step just inside the doorway, "Sorry to interrupt, but Abby wanted to drop something off for you." Abby runs over to you holding out her hands as you pull her letter out of your backpack.
"Tank you, Mama!" She hurries back to Bucky's side & he lifts her onto his lap. "I mades it."
"Did you? Wow!" He puts the drawing on his desk. "Is this...you?"
"Uh huh! The banoons is 'cos you did a good work."
"This is beautiful, Abby. Thank you so much."
Leaning back against his chest, "You melcome."
"It's welcome."
"It's what i says, you melcome." You smirk & shake your head.
Bucky shrugs, "I understood it perfectly."
Your heart is about to explode. Abby is thrilled to see Bucky again and you've never seen Bucky this animated before. He's really not as intimidating as you once thought.
"Baby, we better go and let Bucky get back to his busy day."
"Mama?"
"Yes?"
"Cans Bucky comes with us?" You meet Bucky's blue eyes over Abby's head. He cocks an eyebrow at you.
"He might have plans, honey."
"I wasn't doing much today. I was just headed to the gym," he smiles at you.
"Wants to picnic? I gots bread for the ducks. I can share wit yous."
"You know what? I love to picnic!" He looks down at Abby's surprised face & laughs.
"See Mama! He loves it!" Clapping her hands, "Comes, let's go!" She hops off Bucky's lap & tries to pull him up.
Bucky takes his new drawing & closing the door he tacks it up on a corkboard he has behind his door. It joins the first drawing Abby gave him. You see that & you smile at him.
Again, Abby almost loses her mind. "Mama lookit!" Bucky picks her up so she can view it better. "My mama said you can't forget me because you has my drawing and sticker."
"Forget you?? I could never forget you." Abby hugs him around the neck & kicks her legs in joy. You grab her legs before she kicks him in the groin.
"Careful Abby." You look at Bucky & laugh.
"Do you mind if we stop off in the residence? I'll grab my stuff & we can go."
"No, that's fine."
There are a few floors restricted for agents that reside in the building. He brings you upstairs & you wait in the common area while Bucky grabbed his own back pack for the picnic.
*****
Stopping at a deli to get sandwiches for lunch, Bucky ended up picking up the tab and adding a bunch of cookies and brownies for dessert. Abby gets a special ride on the shoulders of the Winter Soldier. She's never been so high up & couldn't stop giggling.
You were able to snag a small spot near the pond, spreading out a blanket under a shaded tree. It was such nice day. You brought some bubbles so Abby ran around trying to pop them. Bucky would blow and you and Abby would compete to pop the most. The 3 of you played tag. You wore Abby out. Soon as she ate her lunch she was out like a light for her nap.
Carding your fingers through her hair as she sleeps, "Thank you so much for joining us and for lunch. She's never had so much fun."
"Thanks for letting me come along. I don't think I've picnicked like this since 1935."
He talks about his life before the war. His friendship with Steve. A little bit of how he's still trying to assimilate to being an Avenger. He's enjoyed the day because he never gets the chance to...play.
"I think you've got an open invitation from this one here."
Bucky laughs. "How old is she?"
"She's 3."
"She's very... articulate."
"You can say it. She's a chatterbox. She doesn't stop talking. Even when it was just jibberish, she didn't stop. It used to drive her father nuts. He didn't have a lot of patience."
"He's still in the picture?"
You shake your head, "He passed away last year."
Bucky frowns, "I'm sorry for you loss."
Everytime you hear those words you feel guilty. You feel like you should feel a loss, yet you don't. Not really. You were dating Abby's father for about 6 months when you found out you were pregnant. It wasn't planned. You and Jason weren't even talking about marriage. And yet you decided to get married because of the baby and that was a mistake. Jason wasn't ready to be a father. You're not even sure he enjoyed fatherhood while he was alive. He was on deployment or missions and away from home a lot. His life didn't change much. You were already thinking of asking for a divorce. He didn't take an active part in raising Abby. He would never have gone on picnics with you and Abby, let alone run around and play tag with you both. Or blow bubbles.
"Thank you."
"So, its just you two now?" You smile and nod. He gives an off-key rendition of Bill Withers "Just the Two of Us," which makes you snort laugh. "C'mon, I wasn't that bad!"
Abby stirs awake from your laughter and Bucky's outrage. "Mama?"
"I'm sorry, Baby. Did we wake you up?" You lift her onto your lap and she snuggles in, sticking her thumb in her mouth. "Did you have a good sleep?" She nods. "It takes her a while to wake up." You rub her back.
"She woke up just in time for the ducks."
Abby pops her thumb out of her mouth, "Ducks?" She stands and wobbles like a drunk person so Bucky reached out for her. "Bucky, yous ready for ducks??"
"Whoa, take it easy." He laughs at Abby's excitement to feed the ducks. He scoops her up while you find your stash of stale bread. You make your way to the waters edge, and Abby instructs Bucky on the proper way to throw bread at the ducks. "Don't hit them in the head."
Bucky looks at you weirdly. "She used to try and aim for their mouths & would hit them in the head. I told her it's not nice and to aim for the water in front of them." Bucky laughs.
Once the bread is gone, you start packing up your things. "If you come back to the Tower, I can grab my car & take you guys home."
"It's ok, the Metro stop is close to our building."
Bucky insists, "It's no problem. Really."
"You don't have a carseat. Abby needs a carseat."
"Ooooh. Right," Bucky frowns.
"We're fine. I promise. We do this all the time," you give him a reassuring smile. "Baby, come say bye to Bucky."
Abby runs over & launches herself at Bucky, who quickly catches her. She gives him a loud kiss on his cheek. "Tank you for my samich & cookie."
"You're welcome. I had fun today."
"ME TOO!!!" Bucky picks her up & plops her on his shoulders.
Reaching for her, "I got her."
"I'll walk you guys to the station at least." He grabs your hand in his and you all head off to the Metro.

Series Masterlist
Steve ducks, narrowly avoiding a well placed punch. He grapples his opponent to try and stop the assault. There’s some back and forth and Steve is sent to the floor but not without bringing his opponent down with him.
“Losing your touch old man.”
“I let you win, baby.” Steve says with a chuckle as he looks up at Sam, who’s straddling his hips.
Sam smirks down at Steve. The gym was empty with most of the team having trained earlier in the day. So Steve is more than happy to pull Sam down by his shirt and kiss him breathless.
“Where’s Bucky? I thought he was going to join us.” Steve asked as they stood back up.
“Him and Sunshine went to some shop that sells spices from all around the world. She found some recipes she wanted to try out. All I know is that we are going to have to up our training with how many desserts she’s been making.”
Steve chuckles and nods in agreement. “It’s good to see her back to her usual self though.” He comments as the two of them head to the elevators.
It had been a few short weeks since they had given you your own personal space. The change they had seen was almost immediate and the alphas were proud to be able to provide for you.
“Yeah it is.”
Sam hit the button for their floor. They would be busy finalizing the details of their next mission. Then they both place a hand over their chest where a sudden overwhelming feeling comes through the bond.
Steve huffs a laugh as he rubs his chest. “Those two are trouble.” The bond between the four of you was vibrating with mischievous intention.

Your arm was looped around Bucky’s as you walked through the busy streets of the city. It was times like these that you were glad to not only have an alpha but one that looked as intimidating as Bucky did. People tended to move out of his way. He held your bags in his other hand even though you told him you could hold them yourself.
“I’m just going to be a minute.” Bucky tells you as you stop in front of a store that sells alpha products. “Do you want to come in with me?”
“Ok, I’ll go with you.”
Bucky holds the door open for you, the mixed scents of alphas hits you immediately. It makes a shiver run down your spine at how the scents mixed. You weren’t sure if it was the combination of smells or the fact that you were happily mated but you scrunch your nose in disgust.
“This place reeks.” You whisper to Bucky as you walk further into the store.
Anything and everything an alpha could need was available. From products they could use during their ruts to scent enhancers and blockers for different situations.
“I think those are a scam.” Bucky says as he looks over your shoulder to find a display of scent enhancers.
“Do you really?”
“Of course. Get lonely people to spend their money on it with the empty promise of finding a mate. It’s ridiculous.”
“They might work though.” You shoot back.
“I doubt it.”
“Let’s try it out.” You grab one of the testers and spray it on your neck, over your mating gland. “This one says it’s meant to enhance the sweetness in a scent to attract possible mates and make the wearer seem more sexually appealing.”
It took all but a few minutes for it to work. Bucky took a deep breath. Your scent had definitely become stronger and he let out a low growl as his pupils dilated. He took a step closer to you while burying his nose in the crook of your neck and you held back your giggle.
“Told you it could work.” You murmured while Bucky kissed his mark on your neck.
“Let’s go.” He all but growls when another alpha walks by and checks you out.

You laughed as you ran into the apartment at the tower. Bucky stalked behind you with a pissed off expression on his face. Steve and Sam were in the living room going over mission reports together when you made a mad dash to the stairs that lead to the second floor.
“What is going on?” Steve looked between you and Bucky.
“Bucky’s mad I didn’t want to have sex in an alley by a dumpster.” You inform him before looking at Bucky. “I’m a pillow princess. Your words, remember?”
“She used one of those scent enhancers at the store. She’s being a little tease.” Bucky growled, a little mischievousness in his eyes.
Sam and Steve looked between the two of you. Neither you nor Bucky realized the enhanced scent still lingered and both alphas took a deep breath. They stood, all three of them looked at you as if you were their last meal and you grinned.
“If you catch me before I get to our room you can have your way with me. If not, I'll make you watch while I touch myself.” You said before darting up the stairs as quickly as you could.
You knew you’d lose. Steve had grabbed you by the waist while you were just halfway up. You hid your smile as Steve carried you up the stairs, Sam and Bucky following close behind.

The four of you laid in a naked heap in the middle of the California king sized bed. You were resting your head on Bucky’s chest while Steve and Sam were talking about who knows what.
“We should buy some of those enhancers.” You murmur to Bucky and he chuckles.
“You just like having your alphas wrapped around your finger, don’t you?”
“Maybe.”
“Well, Moonbeam, you don’t need anything other than yourself to have us wrapped around these pretty little fingers.”
You smile up at him before giving him a quick kiss. Sam shifts and turns his attention back to you. His arm comes to rest over your waist while he kisses your shoulder. His chest is pressed firmly against your back and you relish the warmth from the skin to skin contact. You turn your head and Sam connects his lips to yours.
“You’re a little troublemaker.” Sam mumbles against your lips.
“You like it.”
“I love it.” Sam kisses your forehead before pulling away and getting up. “I love you.”
You, Steve and Bucky sit up a bit to watch a naked Sam walk towards the bathroom. The three of you wolf whistle and throw compliments him as he shakes his head.
“C’mere sweetheart.” Steve pulls you toward him while Bucky leaves to follow Sam.
“If you’re going to give me bad news, you should’ve done it before we had sex. That way you could’ve fucked me dumb and I wouldn’t have remembered.”
Steve shakes with laughter. He pulls you in closer to himself, enjoying the way you snuggle up to him.
“When do you leave?” You asked quietly.
“At the end of the week.”
“How long?”
“Almost five weeks.”
You sit up and look down at Steve. “Five weeks? I’ll be all alone. You can’t do that.”
“We won’t all leave at the same time. Sam will head out first, then Bucky joins him a few days later and I will leave a few days after that. I wish there was something I could do but this mission is very important.”
“What is it?” You asked as Steve sat up.
“We found a lead on a group that is trafficking omegas. We’ve been following it for a few weeks now and we have the chance to infiltrate it and break it up so no one else gets hurt.”
Your breath hitched and you pulled away from Steve as you realized the importance of this mission. But five weeks away from all three of your alphas would be very difficult. While thinking about how you would cope Steve reveals something else.
“Your brother has been helping us find these people.”
“What?” You ask in disbelief. “My brother? The same person that was trying to kick down my door?”
“Yes. He was checked out by the medical team and they found a highly dangerous mix of drugs in his system. That same mixture is being sold on the street. He’s our best lead. We wanted to tell you after he got out of the rehab center but you deserve to know the truth.”
You just nod but you can’t believe what you’re hearing. This felt like too much information too fast. Dread started to pool in your chest.
“Hey,” Steve sat up and snaked an arm around your waist to pull you closer. “Everything will be alright. I was thinking that after we’re done with this mission the four of us could go on a vacation. Spend some time together and relax. What do you think? We can get away from all of this for a little while.”
“I guess.”
“Starlight-“
“It’s ok.” You look up at Steve, trying to put on a brave face. “This is your job. You have to go and save those omegas. I’ll be fine.”
Steve kisses your temple before speaking up. “I promise we’ll be back before you know it.”
You can only nod in agreement as you feel a lump form in your throat. This would be the first time that all three alphas would be gone for such a long time. Sure there were a few times that their missions took longer than expected and you were alone for a day or two. But five whole weeks would feel like a lifetime.

Since finding out about the mission you were trying to spend as much time with Sam, Steve and Bucky as you could. It was really getting into your head that you would be alone for some time. Being alone never bothered you before, in fact it was just how you went through life. But now here were these three amazing and loving men that came crashing into your life and turned your world upside down. They had given you so much in such a short time that you were afraid something would take all the good things away from you.
The thought of losing any of them plagued your mind constantly. What if they came back and things were different? Logically speaking it didn’t make sense and you knew it. But the omega in you that was practically just starting out was afraid of being away from her alphas. So the thought of being alone again was terrifying, it was dictating your every move. It had completely distracted you from your normal day to day and it was currently affecting your job.
“Shit.” You mutter through gritted teeth as you look down at your shirt.
You always changed the ink in the big copier but you were distracted. Now you have a huge ink stain on the front of your favorite pink shirt. The morning didn’t get any easier, people were rude and snippy and it was kind of your fault because you were being short and cold to them. Even Ricky and Jonah were keeping their distance.
“I’ll be with you in just a moment.” You said without looking up to see who was standing there before turning back to the conversation you were having on the phone. “Yes, you have to submit the form a month before the date you want to reserve the room. Yes, you can send it via email. Ok, bye.”
You hang up and sigh before looking up.
“Sam.” Your eyes instantly tear up and you pout the moment you see him standing there.
“Sunshine, what’s going on?” He was concerned about you, they all were.
“I’m having the worst day. And look at my shirt, it’s ruined.”
“I can help with that.” He holds up a bag for you.
“How’d you know?”
“A little birdie told me.”
“Sammy, you’re the best. I’ll be right back.” You lean over the counter and grab the bag before rushing off down the hall to get changed in the bathroom.
“Don’t take too long, I’m taking you to lunch.” He calls out as you leave.
Sam keeps himself busy by texting Bucky and Steve about you. He missed the person that walked past him. The sour scent does get his attention for a moment but it’s a community center so many people come by. It isn’t a few minutes later when he hears your angry voice echo from the hall that he realizes he should have paid more attention.
****
“Get the fuck away from me.” You land a hard slap against the face of the one person you didn’t want to see again.
“Why are you being difficult omega?”
Luca Romano. You hadn’t seen him in weeks since the incident in which he hurt your wrist. Now he had the nerve to show up out of the blue and try to corner you as you left the bathroom. He was even trying to push you back in but you were fighting him off.
“Why are you such a fucking asshole? I’ve told you multiple times that I don’t like you. Now leave me alone.”
You watch as he takes a deep breath before his face turns unreadable. “I am going to put you in your place, you stupid, useless omega whore.”
His hand comes up as if he were going to strike you. You’re not scared though, no, you’re ready to defend yourself. But Luca is ripped away from you and thrown against the wall. Sam is standing in front of you and he’s angry.
“Were you going to hit my omega?” He growls as he steps closer to Luca, who is getting up from the floor.
“Your omega?”Luca laughs. “She’s a whore. Can’t you smell it? All those scents mixed together. She was trying to pull me into the bathroom and who am I to deny an omega in need?”
“Bullshit.” You lean to the side to get a better look from behind Sam. “You’ve been harassing me for ages. You’ve even gotten physical.” You feel the way Sam tenses, the way the bond explodes with anger from him and concern from Steve and Bucky.
“Sunshine, is this the scum that hurt your wrist?”
“Yes.” You murmur.
The deep and guttural growl that leaves Sam gives you goosebumps and you immediately take a step back while grabbing your phone from your back pocket in order to call Ricky and Jonah for back up.
“So you think it’s ok to hurt people just because you’re an alpha?”
“Look man, I don’t know what this bitch told you but she’s been asking for it.”
“No she hasn’t. And the next words out of your mouth better be an apology or you better say nothing at all, especially not about my omega.”
Luca stares at Sam before his eyes dart to you. You can see the anger burning as he stares at you. He snarls and lunges to try and grab you but Sam stops him. You’ve never really seen Sam fight someone that was actually trying to cause harm but it was impressive and a bit scary. He lands a punch right to Luca’s jaw and sends him tumbling back.
Ricky and Jonah rush to stop the fight. Sam definitely held back but you could see how badly he wanted to destroy Luca for what he said about you and what he’d done to you. It was Jonah who had to push him back and remind him that you were watching. When Sam turned around to look at you his demeanor completely changed. He was back to the same Sam you knew but you still flinched when he reached out to grab your hand. It made tears pool in your eyes.
“I’m sorry.” You whisper.
“No, Sunshine, you don’t have to apologize for anything.”
“This is all my fault.”
“Hey, Sweets, why don’t we go into the conference room.” Ricky gets closer. “We have to wait for the cops and they’ll need your statement so they know Sam was only defending you.”
“Ok. We should call Steve and Bucky.”
“They’re already on their way.”
****
Steve and Bucky were livid. Feeling them so riled up had you on edge. The cops had taken Luca away before they showed up and as much as you hated the man you were glad. It would have only hurt their reputation, especially Bucky’s, if they saw him. The other thing that added fuel to the fire was the cops didn’t let them see you since they were still taking your statement. They’d even brought one of the lawyers that works for the Avengers with them. In the lobby Mr. Burke was having a fit and Mrs. Levy was scolding him for it.
When you finally did get to leave the interview you headed straight for your desk to collect your things. Bucky and Steve wanted to rush to you but Mrs. Levy stopped them, she walked over to you instead.
“Y/N?” She called you softly while she leaned all her weight on her cane.
You looked up at her from your seat and blinked back tears.
“If you want you can stay with me. I can make up the couch.”
“Thank you Ophelia but I’ll be ok.”
“Are you sure?” She asked. “You don’t have to go with them just because they’re your alphas.”
She was worried for you and you remembered what had happened to her daughter. You got up and surprised her by giving her a hug.
“I’ll be ok I promise. But I’ll call you later, ok?”
“I’ll be waiting.”
You give her the best smile you could muster before heading to the front door. Three worried alphas follow as you make your way to one of their cars. Steve takes Sam’s keys and ushers him into his own car while Bucky opens the passenger door for you.
No one says a word. Not in the two separate car rides or the elevator ride up to your floor. The tension can be cut with a knife when you all walk into your shared apartment.
“Sweetheart-“ Steve starts but you cut him off.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” You murmur and head into your room.
Bucky ushers Sam towards the living room. He sits and leans forward, laying his forearms on his thighs and hanging his head low.
“She flinched.” Sam says before looking up at Steve and Bucky. “I was so mad I beat the shit out of that guy and when I turned to her, she flinched when I reached out to her.”
“It was a tense situation.”
“What if she hates me now? Worse, what if she’s scared of me?”
“I highly doubt she’s scared of you.” Steve says as he moves to sit next to Sam. “We have to remember that her home life was bad, it could have just been an involuntary reaction.”
Sam nodded but he still looked defeated. The last thing he ever wants is for you to be afraid of him. All three alphas knew you were having a hard time accepting that they’d be gone for a while. They wanted their last week with you to be filled with some good, fun times. Now their plans have been ruined.
“I’m gonna go check on her.” Steve says before getting up and heading towards your room.
****
Steve knocks softly on your door. The minute he does music starts to play and he can’t help but sigh. He rests his forehead against the door and speaks.
“Starlight, I know today was a lot for you. I just want to know if you need anything and if you’re ok.”
You were sitting with your back against the door on the other side. There were really no words to describe the overwhelming emotions swelling in your chest at the moment. It’s why you wanted to be alone. Although Steve wanted to know you were ok you didn’t answer. You didn’t know what to say so you just sat there and hoped he’d go back to making sure Sam was alright.
“Ok, you don’t have to talk if you don’t want to but please come find us if you need anything. We just want to keep you happy and safe.” Steve says before walking away.
You knew that and it made you feel guilty that Steve felt like he had to remind you. It all felt like too much. Them leaving for as long as they were, the crappy day that turned into a nightmare and Sam fighting someone to protect you. You never wanted them to have to get physical in order to protect you. It made you sick to your stomach to know they were willing to compromise themselves for you.

As the afternoon slowly turned to nighttime you continued to play the events of the day in your head. Taking a nap didn’t help, it only brought up the nightmares. Trying to read didn’t help, you couldn’t concentrate on the words. It was late enough that your alphas should be in bed and you needed to get something to drink.
Without much thought you opened the door to your room only to find Sam walking past. He froze as the light from your room spilled out into the dark hallway. He was in sweatpants and no shirt. It was like he was afraid to scare you if he turned around too quickly. As slowly as he could he turned halfway to face you.
“I’m sorry Sunshine, I didn’t mean to wake you.” Sam says softly.
You shake your head slightly in confusion.
“Were you not sleeping?”
You shake your head again.
Sam sighs, “you should get some rest. Today… was a long day. You must be tired, I’ll let you go.”
It pained you to see him be so cautious around you. Before he could turn away you held your hand out and he took it. Without second guessing you pulled Sam into your room and pulled him towards your bed until he sat with his back resting against the headboard. You straddled his lap, hid your face in the crook of his neck and wrapped your arms around him as best you could. Sam just accepts your affection and waits for whatever comes next.
“I wasn’t scared because of you.” You murmur before pulling back to look at Sam. “You have to know that I trust you with my life.”
You watched as Sam released the breath he’d been holding. The weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders and he slumped down.
“When you flinched-“
“The only person that scared me was him. He reminded me of how my dad used to come at me. It just brought up a lot of bad memories.”
“We’ll never let anyone hurt you, Sunshine. I don’t care if I get in any kind of trouble. I’ll always protect you.”
You give him a small smile before you lean forward and kiss him soft and sweet. “I love you so much, Sam. Thank you for protecting me today and I’m sorry I hid when we got home.”
“I understand, you needed some time to process.”
You smile and nod.
“I love you too. Now, I’ll go so that you can get some sleep.”
“No. You have to stay.”
It’s Sam’s turn to smile. “Oh I have to?”
“Yes,” you pout. “You’re leaving in a few days. We have to spend as much time together as we can.”
“Ok. I’ll stay. Now let's get comfortable. It’s been a long day.”
You yawn and stretch before nodding in agreement. The two of you get comfortable in your nest and you fall asleep rather quickly.

The day Sam had to leave arrived sooner than you would have liked. You stood in the hangar at the top of the tower and watched as Sam and some of the team as well as a few agents finished packing everything they needed for this mission. Steve and Bucky were right by your side but they weren’t as worried as you were. They would see Sam in a couple of days.
“Alright, it seems like we have everything.” Sam says as he stops in front of the three of you.
“Be careful out there.” Steve steps forward and gives Sam a quick kiss.
“I’ll see you in a couple of days.” Bucky said before also kissing Sam and then walking away with Steve to give you a minute.
You don’t say anything, instead you wrap your arms around Sam’s midsection. Sam in turn holds you close as his chin rests on top of your head. He sways you side to side gently until he hears you sniffle.
“Sunshine, don’t cry. These weeks will go by in a flash.” Sam says as he cradles your face in his hands.
“I know. It’ll be fine, I’ll be fine.” You said, trying to sound convincing but the silent tears betrayed you.
Sam gave you a few quick little pecks on the lips before deepening the kiss. It was loving and reassuring but also slightly desperate. It made you realize that he was also nervous about leaving.
“I love you so much, Sunshine. I’ll see you soon.” Sam says after someone calls his name.
“Bye, my love. Be careful ok?”
“I will.” Sam replies while walking backwards. He sends you a wink and toothy grin before turning around and getting on the jet.
****
Soon enough you were back at the hangar seeing Bucky off and then Steve. They both reassured you that they would be back as quickly as possible. It would only be a couple of short weeks. You’d be able to deal with that. The dread that had settled in your chest would disappear. It had to.

“Protect My Heart”
Steve Rogers x Reader
Angst with no happy ending? I don’t know.
steve rogers was weird. in all the right ways of course, i'd assume that if i had gotten injected with a super serum, met the love of my life just to lose her to time and age, be trapped in the ice while the world ages around me and keep my youth, i'd probably be a little weird and off-putting too.
the entire world knows who captain america is, and i've had the chance to work with him. he's tall, broad, all blond hair and bright shiny blue eyes. he's cute, he knows he's cute too. probably hates being called cute, but i can't imagine him as anything other than cute.
he has a certain way that he looks at you, like he's looking right through you. but don't ever upset him, he's great at holding grudges. he's been gone for far to long and with the threat of ultron upon us, we now hide away in clint barton's house.
we're not the only people in the house, tony stark who's the iron man, genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, extraordinaire (as i'm sure he'd enjoy being called). and then there's his 'twin', bruce banner. just as smart, just as attractive, but not arrogant. he's shy and that's just as cute as he is. and then there's people like natasha romanoff (and maria hill, my two favorite people in the world).
of course, we cannot forget about the god who literally fell to earth. thor, the god of thunder. there were hundreds of other people, working the systems to keep us all safe from threats. and as busy as we are, steve won't leave me alone.
i'm standing in the kitchen area, busy making some sandwiches to pass the time while every conversates about the next move. clint's children run around the house. "i can help you." steve suggested, leaning against the counter. i had multiple plates, already stacked high with different kinds of sandwiches. laura already said she'd help, since this was her home, but i shrugged her off and told her to spend some time with her family instead.
the weirdest thing about steve is that he's persistent. when he wants something, he won't give up until he succeeds. i can't say i'm not the same way, but he thinks of me as some sort of mission i'm sure of it. "they're just sandwiches steve." i sighed, closing the lid to the peanut butter. "i can be helpful."
"be helpful somewhere else!"
he doesn't ever take the hints. he's like a bug i can't kill. i'm sure half the world would be on their knees, begging for a chance to go on a date with steve rogers, but i think i'd rather die. no one should be stupid enough to do that. steve is a great guy, but his heart and his mind lie with another woman who he can never with. peggy carter, the love of his life, whom he lost so early. his poor heart holds onto her too much for his body to handle, so he finds someone else to satiate his need for love and it was me.
you know how when baby ducks or chickens are born, they imprint on the first thing they see as their mother, that's exactly what it felt like for steve and i, but instead of me being his mother he wants me as a lover. i cannot put myself through that ever. it hurts a lot to know the truth, to know he doesn't actually like me. what am i even supposed to do? i don't like pushing him away and ignoring him, i don't like being rude to the captain america.
what if one date turns into two, two turn into spending nights with each other, kisses in between talking, and we have sex or something. what happens if i do fall in love with captain america? what happens when i want something more from him but he tells me he's not looking for anything serious. he's too caught up on his ex. i know steve is old fashioned, he'd never actually do that to a woman, but this isn't the 40s anymore and he's much older than i am, he's tired of fighting but he won't stop and that will be his downfall, and mine too if i don't put a stop to all of this.
"you don't like me much huh?" he scoffs jokingly, standing up from the counter and moving to stand behind me instead. "i do like you steve, i just don't need help making sandwiches." i put the cheese slices and the meat back into the refrigerator. "you know, if you want to help, you can take these to the living room while i bring these to the kids." i suggested, pointing to the plates. i grab a different plate, beginning to walk away but steve catches my wrist. "please talk to me." he begs quietly. i poke the inside of my cheek with my tongue, running it over my bottom teeth. i've said no to going on a date with steve rogers three times now.
the first time, it was very proper. asking me out after loki was put away and handled with by thor. he stopped me from leaving the building. "you did good out there." i shrugged. "beats working in an office staring at a screen any day." he laughed. body dirty, breathless, and sweating. "i'm sure it does." our conversation flows for a second, reveling in our win, talking about everything and nothing. "so i was thinking that we could... maybe do something tomorrow night..." steve asks, running his fingers through his hair. "i don't know rogers, we're kinda busy."
"no yeah i get it. i'm pretty busy too." he crossed his arms behind his back, rocking back and forth. "well, i'm supposed to see loki off and we're all splitting apart for a bit so... i'll see you later?" i nodded, watching as he walked away.
did steve rogers just ask me out?
the second time he tried was when we were on the run from the government after siding with his long time best friend, and super solider experiment, james bucky barnes, and found ourselves living on the outskirts of some small country's town i couldn't pronounce the name of. we were just lying in the grass together. he hadn't had the time to shave in a while, a light stubble beginning to show. we just stared at the stars wondering if our lives were going to be lived out like this. a small cabin in the woods that we found. spending all our time in the woods with natasha and hunting for animals and plants. what i wouldn't have done for a burger. "so i was thinking, a few years back, we never got a chance to hang out just us, and we're here, right now. know we can't do much, but i was thinking if you'd want to do this again sometime..." he trailed off. i didn't glance at him, i knew he was looking at me but i wasn't sure what to say. "steve now's not really a good time to get... entangled." steve just nods silently. "yeah, that makes sense i guess."
i couldn't believe he was trying again. i thought he had forgotten. i know i hadn't, i couldn't stop thinking about him asking me out. and here he was, wanting to try again. i got up and headed back to the cabin without even saying anything. i felt sick to my stomach again. the night air felt colder, a pain filling up my chest.
how dare he? who does he think he is?
strutting around the cabin shirtless, chopping wood for fire, learning how to hunt and which berries and plants could kill us and wouldn't kill us. humming 40s music while starting fires to heat up the water to make it drinkable.
when i taught him how to sew our clothes back together after running in the woods, sleeve being caught and torn by branches. teaching him how to braid hair, gently but quick so it wouldn't waste too much time. pointing at the stars together, sneaking into town to watch as it quiets down as the sun sets. dogs bark in the background. making ice cream with just milk and ice. hiding in alleyways from cops and laughing when they'd pass.
it makes me feel guilty for falling in love with a man who's mentally taken.
sure peggy carter isn't here anymore, but she haunts him in his sleep. for a few split seconds, i'd see a future with us together, a kid or two, living in a house just big enough for the two of us. maybe a dog or a cat for our kids to play with. and then reality strikes when he'd fall asleep and whisper her name that keeps me awake and thinking for days.
the third time he asked me out was as soon as we got into the house. he hadn't even gotten the chance to ask, i already knew what he wanted from me. i was on my way to check on natasha, she had been so excited about laura having another baby, and she thought it was gonna be a gril named natasha. it turned out to be a boy instead.
"no steve." i said, not even letting him speak. he pulls me into the bathroom, shutting and locking the door. "don't say no, i just think it would be fun, doesn't have to mean anything-"
"no steve! it means everything to me!" he tries to talk again but i push back against his chest. he could easily over power me, he's stronger than i am. my heart is beating so fast. i can't look him in the eye. i make sure to keep steve far enough from me while i pull the door open and disappear to the kitchen instead. there's far too much going on.
which brings me to now. the fourth time. "there's nothing to talk about." i drop my head, placing the plates down on the table so i don't drop them and waste them. "there's a lot we need to talk about actually. like how you keep running from me." he flips me around, holding onto my shoulders to keep me in place. "i can't give you what you want."
"and how do you know what i want?"
"i know you want peggy back. and i'm not her, not even close. i know you'd do anything to see her again, to hear her voice. to have her see you. i know you missed out on the greatest love of your life and i can't-i won't compete with that."
steve just leans down, pressing his lips against mine. he doesn't listen either. our lips don't stay attached for long, cause i untangle my body from his grip. "you have to stop steve! you tell me to stop running and hiding from you, but when are you gonna stop running and hiding from yourself too?"
"you think you know what i want? well it's not true. ever since i got out of the ice, i wasn't sure what it meant. i knew i should have died but i didn't. and for a long time i was lost, everyone i had ever loved was gone, everything i thought i knew was a lie, and the world was different. but i didn't regret the decision i made, and that same decision lead me to you somehow!"
"you do not mean that!" i shouted back. "don't i? you don't know what i want!" he crosses his arms over his chest, standing tall and proud. i hate when he does that. he just looks so strong like this. "what do you want?" i asked slowly, keeping my voice low and calm but i was anything but it. "what do you want steve!"
"i want you to stop running from this! why do you do it? tell me the truth. i know you're not afraid of me. and i know it's not because you're seeing someone else, and it can't be about peggy either." he tilts his head, searching my eyes.
"why can't it? how am i supposed to give you my heart when yours belongs to someone else? what will i get in return?" i don't know when but i started crying. i can feel the little tears cascade down my cheeks the longer this conversation goes on. i wonder if someone will come find us, or will this conversation die out on it's own before then? "you have my heart already y/n, that's what you're not understanding. i'm already yours, i just need you to be mine too." steve inches closer, placing his hands on my hips. one hand cups my cheek, wiping away the tears. "please don't cry." he whispers soothingly. i reach up, cupping my hand with his own. i take a moment to revel in this feeling, the light enters his eyes again but i crush it by pulling back. he cannot win this war. i drop his hand to his side, using my other hand to brush him off my hip. i can still feel his touch on me, hands heavy.
"i'm sorry steve, but i need to put myself first for once, and i need to protect my heart. please, please don't ask me out again. it will always be no."
he doesn't say anything more when i grab the plates and carry them out of the kitchen and into the hallway where i walk slowly to the living room, trying to catch my own breath. "i've made sandwiches." i said, expertly setting them down on the table while everyone crowds around the tray. i fall back a few steps, moving outside to get some fresh air. i sit down on the steps of clint's house. aside from natasha and fury, i was the third person to learn about clint's secret life. was it weird to imagine my life would be like this at some point?
when i was at my lowest, nick fury spotted me in a crowd of hundreds. he always was drawn to the most messed up people. the front door creaks open and i hold in a groan. if he's followed me out here again, i might just lose my shit.
but it's natasha. he's freshly showered, sad smile on her lips. "what's up with you?" we both ask in unison. a broken laugh passes between the two of us. "you first." i nudged her shoulder. "i wish bruce would just let himself go for once. he's too fearful."
their romance had been budding since she first picked him up. it was so slow and quiet, compared to steve who won't take no for an answer. "you?" she asks while we stare ahead at the meadow fields and trees in the distance. "steve won't take no for an answer. he's not fearful enough."
nat holds back a smile but i can see her lips twinge upward. "maybe you should stop holding back then. you and bruce are too similar. you push everyone away thinking it's for the greater good, and you won't be selfish just one time?"
"you can't be selfish with a guy like steve rogers. he could die any minute, i've read his files. i've seen everything he's done to get where he is today. he saved the world by landing a plane in the middle of the ocean where he froze over for 60 years. i can't put myself in peggy's position. history has a funny way of repeating itself." natasha sits silently. "i never thought of that for you." i glance at her confused. "what?"
"steve and i... we talk. we talk about you." i raise my eyebrows. "you do?" she nods and hums. "we talk about why you keep saying no, what's keeping you from saying yes. i did some digging, you don't have a secret family like clint, you're not stuck on an ex partner, you have family out there somewhere. they're too protected by shield that even i can't find them." i let out a quick sigh. i tell my family i work as a travel agent. everything was fine, and they had no idea, until my face popped up on a screen with hawkeye and natasha at my side, and of course running from the government is kind of hard to keep a secret.
"i just figured you didn't like him. i told him to stop trying after the first time, but i don't think he'll stop asking until you say yes."
"this isn't the notebook. i don't care how dangerous his proposals get, i won't give in. i can't see a logical reason to. he'll make me happy? i make myself happy. i won't be alone? i have you and maria. sexual pleasures? there's one night stands for a reason." natasha snorts and shakes her head. "you are so far gone into your own little world you can't even see the truth."
"okay, and what's the truth?"
"the truth is that you're right. maybe you love him, and maybe he makes the ultimate decision to sacrifice his life for everyone else's safety, but maybe he doesn't have to go through that and you two will live happily ever after. the truth is that he loves you and he wants to show you. god knows where i'd be right now if bruce showed me he loved me." natasha stands up, offering me a hand but i shake my head. "that's fine, you have a lot to think about now." she pats my shoulder and heads back into the house.
can you be selfish with a guy like steve rogers? everything about him is so attractive. like a magnetic pull i'm to weak to steer clear from. sharp features, strong build. he's smart, loyal, kind, brave. it's these thing's that worry me deeply.
although peggy never had a public speech about her feeling's toward steve, him being in the ice, his 'death' that shocked the world. everyone knew that she became a ghost of herself. she still went to work every morning, got dressed, ate breakfast, laughed and made her own jokes, went and fought in wars, and was brave too. but even though i too fight in wars and i wake up every morning and i get too see him, feel him, know him, i'm not brave at all. the thought of losing steve eats away at me every time i look at him. i'll never know his last day, my last day. even if i did know, even if it was tomorrow, i do not have the strength in me to admit that i'm in love with steve rogers and he loves me too because i'm so afraid of it. afraid of what it means to be in a relationship with a man such as him. the people who'll come after us, what will happen when that time comes? i know he'd do anything for the people he loves.
it's one thing to be his friend, a partner in crime, hiding away in a cabin in the woods, staring at stars and making ice cream, but it's a whole other thing to actually be his. sacrificing yourself for a friend is the greatest sacrifice you could ever make, but steve sacrificing himself for my life, as a lover is the ultimate portrayal of love i do not deserve. i've held him off for this long, i can handle holding him off even longer.
——————————
i also hope the ending makes enough sense cause i suck at writing marvel stuff. basically, she won't date steve bc she is afraid of how much she'll get hurt if he dies, and is worried that if something happens to her he’d risk his life/die for her, which she feels like she’s doesn’t deserve.

First Kiss Since 1945 » Steve Rogers/Captain America
Pairings: Steve Rogers x SHIELD Agent!Reader with Natasha Romanoff
Summary: Y/N is Steve’s first kiss since 1945.
Warnings: Fluff, language, kissing, pet names (sweetheart, baby)
Written on my phone so sorry if there’s any mistakes or typos.
Header made by @buckys-wintersoldier
GIF IS NOT MINE! Credit goes to the creators.

“Wait a minute. So you’re telling me that the guy who you threw your shield at has a metal arm?” You say, walking next to Steve.
“Yes.” Steve says.
“That’s fucking cool.” You say.
You’re a new SHIELD Agent and you were just tagging along with Steve and Natasha. This is most you’ve talked to Steve since you started working for SHIELD.
“So what is it we’re doing again?” You asked.
“We’re trying to figure out what’s on this hard drive Fury gave me.” Steve says.
“Oh ok.” You say.
When the three of you walked into a computer store, Natasha took the hard drive from Steve and put it in the laptop to see what was on it.
“Is there anything I can help you folks with?” A employee asks.
“Uhh…” Steve says, trying to come up with an answer.
“Me and my fiancée asked our friend to help us look up honeymoon locations.” You say with a smile.
Steve smiles and wraps his arm around your waist to make it look believable.
“Congratulations! Where are you two thinking about going?” He asks.
“Uhh…” Steve takes a quick glance at the laptop screen. “New Jersey.” He answers.
“My family has a cabin there and we thought it would be nice to go somewhere quiet and peaceful. Isn’t that right, baby?” You say, looking up at Steve with a smile.
“That’s right, sweetheart.” Steve says.
“Well, I hope you guys enjoy your honeymoon. Let me know if you need anything.” The employee says before walking away.
You and Steve let out a breath that you guys didn’t even know you were holding. Steve’s arm left your waist and went back to his side.
“So you two are engaged and I’m helping you guys look for a honeymoon location?” Natasha says, teasingly.
“That was the first thing that came to my mind!” You say, slightly embarrassed.
Natasha chuckled and took the hard drive out of the laptop.
“Let’s go.” She says.
You guys walked out of the store and got on an escalator.
“Uh oh.” Natasha says.
“What?” Steve asks.
“HYDRA Agent.” She says, nodding her head towards the other side of the escalator.
You and Steve looked over and seen a HYDRA. Your guys’ eyes widened in panic.
“What do we do?” You asked.
“Kiss.” She says.
“What?” Steve says.
“Public Display of Affection makes people uncomfortable.” She says.
“I know that, but who’s kissing who?” You asked.
“We don’t have time for this.” Natasha says more to herself.
She put her hands on the back of yours and Steve’s heads and pushed your heads together to get you two to kiss. Both of you were caught by surprise. Steve placed his hands on your waist to make the kiss look real. Natasha ducked down, hiding on the side of you two. The HYDRA agent looked over to see you and Steve kissing and looked away.
“He’s gone. You guys can come up for air.” Natasha says.
You and Steve pulled away from each other, staring into each other’s eyes.
“Uhh Steve…” You say.
“Yes?” He says.
“Your hands.” You say.
“Oh right, sorry.” He says, taking his hands off of your waist.
The three of you walked in silence after you guys got off of the escalator and found a car.
“Doesn’t this count as stealing a car?” You asked, looking at Steve.
“We didn’t steal a car. We’re simply borrowing it.” Steve explains. “And get your feet off the dash.” He gently swats at your legs.
You giggled and took your feet off the dash.
“I’m sorry, but I have to ask. Was I your first kiss since 1945?” You asked.
“Yes.” He says, slightly embarrassed.
“What was it like to kiss Captain America?” Natasha asks, leaning in between the front seats.
“He’s a good kisser.” You say, looking back at her.
“You guys do know that I’m right here.” Steve says making you and Natasha giggle.

Katsuki spent Saturdays taking care of his baby, come hell or high water. He woke you up bright and early despite your sleepy (and adorable) protests, "'m tired Daddy."
"I know punkin, but its Saturday. You don't want to miss pancakes and cartoons do you?" He bit back a grin when you suddenly bolted upright out of your bed and started to head to the kitchen. "Brush your teeth first brat!"
"Yes Daddy!" You singsonged. Katsuki felt his heart settle into place like it always did in these moments, when he was reminded his best girl was also his most adorable baby who trusted him implicitly.
You two spent the day at home away from prying and judgemental eyes. Katsuki set up a picnic in the living room, with all your favorite stuffies in attendance, including Mr. Rogers the Rhinocerous and your Cinnamoroll. He helped you get dressed in your poofiest princess dress and even put on his only tuxedo to escort you.
"May I, my lady?" He offered you his arm and smiled at the shy giggle that left you as you took it.
"You may, Sir Daddy."
And even though he'd take this to the grave, he let you put your tiara on him when you were having your tea party with finger sandwiches, just to see you burst into a fit of laughter.
"Daddy's a princess!!" You crawled over to him and kissed him all over his face, loving him with truly your whole heart.
"Only for my baby." He grumbled but kissed you back regardless.
The whole day was a treasure for both of you, a memory too keep with you throughout the week when the real world demanded your attention. And that's why you both threw yourselves into your dynamic every weekend. It was the oasis in the desert that you drank from greedily each time.
By bed time you were as exhausted as Katsuki was, but bone deep happy. "Come on punkin, time for teeth brushing and bedtime."
"Okay, but you gotta carry me." You held up your arms and made grabby hands at him, knowing your pro hero husband could easily lift three times your weight.
Katsuki narrowed his eyes at you playfully before picking you up, murmuring as he rolled his eyes, "I'm in love with a little tyrant."
"Your tyrant, daddy!"
"My tyrant. Now brush." He helped you when you got too tired to brush yourself, then grabbed your paci.
When you got really tired you regressed even younger than normal, often not talking- instead using charades and noises to get what you wanted. Like pointing and whining for your paci which wasn't in your mouth fast enough.
"I know I know, here you go." Katsuki's voice gentled even further, knowing that you got even more sensitive like this. "My baby." He kissed your forehead and your nose, smiling when you ducked your head shyly.
He got you both settled in bed and cuddled you close, knowing that tomorrow you'd be yourself and Katsuki, not baby and Daddy anymore. So he soaked up this last moment, giving you a booty rub to relax you further and kissing your forehead and cheeks until you both fell asleep.

Sorry my brain is focused on Sunny right now? (When isn't it) But sitting in traffic let's me think.
Because the idea of Sunny as a pirate captain makes me giggle. She's captain of the Sunshine Pirates. Her jolly roger is a sunflower and the figurehead is a duck. She wears cute dresses and flounces around on deck having the time of her life. Her crew would die for her because she cooks the best food.
The Marines don't take her seriously. She doesn't cause any trouble. The only annoying thing is the occasional rescue mission of some of their people whenever Sunny's passed by their ships but it wasn't her that did the damage, no, even if the crew insists that her ship fired the cannons and unleashed something in the water that split the ship in half.
It isn't until some kind of high ranking official comes across Sunny, ignores her, and next thing he realizes is his ship is being knocked around by something in the water.
Listen, Sunny is nice to everyone. It wasn't hard for some beastly sea creature to get under her command after she rescued it from fishing nets when it was just a baby and now it has sworn allegiance to her and will split any ship in half that Sunny asks it to do.
She collects their goods and even a few crewmen along the way after she feeds them a warm meal.
Now Buggy hears about her. He can't decide if she's a threat or not because of conflicting information. It isn't until he comes across her bounty poster and is greatly offended that her bounty is just a bit higher than his own so he goes looking. It wouldn't hurt to have a strong pirate on his side either.
He really wants to meet her (also she's kind of pretty? Should pirates be as pretty as her?).
And it happens by chance. They arrange a meeting. Sunny invites him over and cooks him food.
"Can't have a conversation on an empty stomach." She told him as she set his plate down in front of him. She even places a napkin in his lap. Buggy isn't sure about this but he devours the food while Sunny takes her time. Maybe it would be worth it to team up just for her cooking. She doesn't seem threatening.
The most startling thing is when she takes her own napkin and wipes Buggy's face clean of food once he is done eating. What kind of pirate is she? And she smiles at him and finishes her own plate and Buggy wonders if this is love or food poisoning that he's feeling.

BECAUSE WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT. I have a couple of general questions - if we consider that Toon Town as seen in the movie is for American animation, what do you think a Toon Town in Japan might look like for anime characters? (And, as a result, if all animated characters are real in space. What do you think Toon!Junko or the other Danganronpa characters would be like?)
Hmm...
Following suit with WFRR, one imagines Anime Town would probably be in the backyard of one of the major anime studios. Madhouse or Toei or Bones, perhaps, with anime Toons commuting to work at their various studios.
Part of the bit with Toons was that they're all 9-to-5ers. Offstage, Roger and Baby Herman are colleagues and pals rather than their on-set dynamic of an innocent child and his hapless babysitter. But a lot of the Toons nonetheless have their on-set personalities genuinely. Roger, Daffy and Donald Duck, Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, etc. all display the same type of personality in their downtime that they have on set.
So the relationships they have with one another on-set are purely fictional, as they're just actors playing a part. But their personalities are genuine. Also they're immortal?
So that's an interesting point for Toon Junko. Her entire Despair Persona would probably genuinely be her personality. But nobody in Danganronpa is actually dying; That's all scripted content for the show/game. If they're all Toons, they can't die for real.
Given how well we see Toons tend to get along with one another, I'd imagine the Danganronpa cast, like, going out for drinks and stuff after shoots. Like, clacking drinks together with Hifumi or Chihiro like, "Aw yeah we killed you GOOD. They are going to be SHOCKED when they figure out who did it."
Anime Town itself would be a chaotic kitchen sink of a place, full of magical girls and shonen battle heroes and so, so many high schools. So many high schools. Why does one place need seventeen different high schools in a single city block? You walk in and Goku is having fistfights with Naruto and Luffy for fun while Sailor Moon and Madoka are swapping tips for how to manifest just the right kind of sparkling during your henshin sequence.

✨Glitter Warfare✨
•Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Steve Rogers •Rating: Mature •Tags: Recovering Bucky Barnes, Semi-Retired Bucky Barnes, Semi-Retired Steve Rogers, Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes, Not Captain America Steve Rogers, Crabby Bucky, Avengers, Comic Book Villian, Ridiculousness, Bucky Just Wants To Bake His Bread, Anal Sex, Boys In Love.
•Summary: All Bucky wanted was a quiet Sunday in the kitchen, baking bread and enjoying his quiet day. But when Steve answers his phone without checking the caller ID, Bucky finds himself dodging blasts and battling robots instead. It's just another day in the life of Bucky Barnes, where glitter explosions and super-soldier boyfriends are par for the course
Steve ducked as another blast shot over his head, scorching a nearby lamppost. "Bucky, baby. I'm sorry! I thought it was the pizza guy!"
Bucky, half sprinting, half dodging between wrecked cars, let out a growl as he ripped the driver's door off a trashed Honda. "I don't care if it was the pizza guy, Steve! Look where we are!"
The Honda door clanged as Bucky used it to shield himself from a rapid barrage of energy blasts, each one coming from one of the dozens of murder-bots swarming the street. In the center of it all, perched atop the roof of a demolished bodega, was the mastermind behind the chaos. Dr. Magnifico Malarkey, a half-mad scientist wearing a purple cape, lime green goggles, and what looked like an LED-infused top hat, bellowed his plan for world domination.
"Behold! My Exotic Electro-Eliminators! Soon, New York will be mine! None shall resist my weaponized disco technology! And then, the world will dance to MY tune!"
Steve groaned. "I swear, the villains just keep getting weirder."
Bucky made a break for Steve, now ducked behind an overturned bus, the Honda door absorbing yet another blast. He was practically snarling when he reached his boyfriend. "You just had to answer your damn phone." With a grunt, Bucky flung the Honda door like a shield, sending it spinning through the air toward one of the robots. It sliced straight through, taking off the robot's head with a satisfying clang.
He sank down beside Steve, pressing his back against the bus as he yanked out his gun and cocked it with a sharp click. "So... what now?"
Steve winced, still breathless from dodging lasers. "Well, we could always try unplugging his speakers. I'm pretty sure they're the source of his power."
Bucky shook his head, a small smirk forming on his lips. "You owe me a pizza after this."
Just as Bucky finished cocking his gun, a familiar voice crackled over the comms. "I gotta tell you guys, listening to your marital disputes while I'm dodging death rays over here? Not my idea of a good time," Sam's voice rang out, frustration clear.
Bucky's eyes narrowed as he snapped back without hesitation. "I don't need your input, Samuel. If you can't handle one murderous disco villain on your own, then why are you even wearing that star-spangled bird suit anyway?"
There was a pause, followed by Natasha's unmistakable snickering on the other end. Clint whistled low and slow. "Oof, Buck. You didn't have to go for the jugular."
Bucky wasn't having any of it. "Focus on your targets, Legolas."
Just then, Tony's voice chimed in, dripping with amusement. "Steve, buddy, you might wanna control your boy before he takes Sam's wings and flies them himself."
Steve shot Bucky an exasperated look, but before he could respond, Bucky's sharp blue eyes were already fixed on him. "Control me? Control me?" Bucky growled, his voice dangerously low.
Steve sighed, knowing better than to poke the bear any further. "I didn't say anything."
Bucky leaned in, his lips ghosting close to Steve's ear. "You better not, Steven."
Another blast from one of the robots zipped past their heads, cutting through the tension for the moment. Steve shook his head, muttering under his breath. "I swear, if we survive this, I'm throwing my phone in the Hudson."
"Good. Because next time you answer it, I'm not coming." Bucky fired off a couple of shots, dropping another robot as he moved to cover Steve.
It wasn't that Bucky minded pitching in and helping out — retirement got boring sometimes, and if blasting robots with his boyfriend meant blowing off some steam, so be it. But it was Sunday. Sundays were for baking bread, bagels, muffins, cookies — whatever else the hell he felt like making in that kitchen of theirs.
And more importantly, Bucky had been this close to finally getting Steve to answer the question. The one Steve had casually bombed him with last weekend, the one Steve had been avoiding all week like it carried the plague.
The marriage proposal.
Steve had dropped it out of nowhere, as if it was just another topic for Sunday evening dinner. "I think we should get married." he'd said, while taking a bite of his grilled cheese like they weren't talking about changing their entire lives.
Bucky had nearly dropped his grilled cheese in his soup . He hadn't answered. Instead, he'd spent the next week trying to pretend he hadn't heard it at all. Maybe Steve was just thinking out loud, right? Maybe it didn't need an answer right away. But today, Bucky had worked up the nerve to bring it up again. He was going to ask Steve if he really meant it, if he was serious.
And then Sam called.
So excuse Bucky if he was a little cranky, thinking his boyfriend might've answered that damn phone on purpose. He could've said no. He could've told Sam to handle it himself. But no. Steve had practically jumped at the chance to avoid the conversation — at least that's how it felt to Bucky. And now, instead of fresh-baked bagels and some clarity on where they stood, he was tearing apart the streets of New York, dodging disco-bots.
"I know what you're thinking," Steve muttered, sensing Bucky's frustration through their bond or whatever it was.
"Yeah?" Bucky snapped, firing another round toward one of the robots. "You think you know?"
"You think I did this on purpose."
Bucky ducked behind a wrecked taxi, firing off a glare in Steve's direction. "You saying you didn't?"
"I'm saying we'll talk. Just... not while we're in the middle of a robot uprising, okay?"
Bucky gritted his teeth, taking out another bot with a well-placed shot. "Fine. But we are talking about it after this."
Steve nodded, a look of determination on his face. "After this."
Bucky wasn't sure he believed him. But for now, he'd focus on the fight.
Bucky ducked as another disco-bot exploded, spewing glitter and sparks. "I swear to god, this guy has the worst taste. Who even makes killer robots this shiny?"
"I'm starting to think this is just an elaborate audition for America's Got Talent,” Clint chimed in over the comms. "Because if this guy breaks into a dance routine, I'm out."
Natasha's laugh came through next. "You think he's gonna pull out jazz hands, Barton?"
"If I see jazz hands, I'm gonna shoot them," Bucky muttered darkly, firing off another round.
"Relax, Grandma," Clint shot back. "I'm sure they're too shiny for you to hit."
"Clint," Steve warned, tone stern, "don't antagonize him."
Bucky's jaw clenched, but before he could snap, Tony cut in with a sigh. "Can we focus here, team? We've got to shut down Dr. Disco Inferno before he drops the bass and the entire city starts doing the Electric Slide involuntarily."
"His name is Dr. Magnifico Malarkey," Sam corrected.
"Who the hell even chooses that name?" Natasha deadpanned.
"I don't know," Tony said. "I thought about legally changing my name to 'Tony Stark the Magnificent,' but Pepper said it was 'too much.'"
"Gee, wonder why," Bucky muttered as he dodged another blast. "Can we just get this over with? I've got bread dough rising."
There was a short pause on the line, before Sam's voice came back. "Wait, is that what you're upset about? Bread dough?"
Bucky growled. "It's Sunday, Sam. Sundays are for baking. I don't get my carbs in, you deal with a cranky Bucky all week."
"Wouldn't want that," Clint chuckled. "Though I gotta admit, cranky Bucky is pretty fun to watch."
Bucky's voice turned icy. "You wanna find out how fun, Barton?"
"Uh, no thanks, Buck. You're doing great out there!" Clint replied quickly.
"Tony, please tell me you have a plan," Steve sighed, his voice the calmest of the group despite the chaos around them.
"Of course I have a plan," Tony replied, sounding mildly offended. "We're gonna blow up the speakers."
Sam groaned. "We're seriously going after the guy's sound system?"
Natasha's voice crackled in next. "Are we sure that's his power source? I mean, what if it's just, I don't know, really good speakers?"
"Yeah, Tasha's right," Clint said, "this guy could just be compensating for something."
There was a brief silence, then Bucky's deadpan voice cut through. "That's the understatement of the year."
Steve shifted beside Bucky, glancing at him. "Alright, let's just stay on mission. Tony, how do we get close without getting fried by the robots?"
"Well, that's the tricky part," Tony said, clearly grinning behind his helmet. "You don't."
"Really helpful, Stark," Bucky muttered.
"I'm kidding, geez. You guys are no fun today. Just let me fire an EMP blast. You'll have a few seconds to move in and smash his DJ setup before it resets."
Bucky rubbed his temple. "This is the dumbest plan I've ever heard."
"And yet, here you are, still following it," Tony quipped back.
Steve leaned in to Bucky, lowering his voice even though everyone could still hear him through the comms. "After this, we're taking a break. I'll help you bake."
Bucky shot him a look. "Yeah, well, don't think that gets you off the hook for dodging the other thing."
Tony's voice rang out again, clearly eavesdropping. "Ooh, what other thing? This sounds juicy."
Steve sighed, clearly done with the entire conversation. "Tony, fire the EMP already."
"You got it, Freedom Fry," Tony replied, and then a bright pulse of light shot out, temporarily shutting down the disco-bots.
"Alright, lovebirds," Natasha said, laughter in her voice, "time to take down Dr. Malarkey and get back to your regularly scheduled baking."
Steve gave Bucky a quick nod. "Ready?"
Bucky grinned, eyes sharp. "Let's end this glitter-filled nightmare."
As Steve and Bucky advanced, weaving between the debris and wreckage, everything seemed to be going according to plan. They were closing in on Dr. Magnifico Malarkey, and Tony's EMP had knocked out the bulk of the disco-bots. They were almost there when Bucky heard a distinct whistle in the air.
"Bucky—" Steve started, eyes widening, but it was too late.
Something lobbed through the air toward Bucky, landing just a few feet in front of him. It looked like a... grenade? But it was brightly colored, almost cartoonish, with swirling neon stripes and what appeared to be glitter glue spiraling around it.
Before Bucky could even process what he was looking at, the grenade exploded in a puff of neon pink smoke.
"BUCKY!" Steve's voice was panicked, already lunging toward him, expecting the worst. The whole battlefield seemed to freeze for a second, the cloud of pink dust billowing in the air like some sort of twisted cotton candy nightmare.
Steve coughed as the cloud dissipated, his heart pounding as he strained to see Bucky through the haze. "Buck? Baby, you okay?!"
Then, through the lingering pink mist, Bucky slowly appeared. Standing there, arms at his sides, looking utterly... ridiculous. He was completely covered head to toe in neon pink powder and glitter. His hair, his face, even his tactical gear — all of it coated in a sparkling mess that shimmered in the sunlight.
There was a long beat of silence over the comms before Clint's voice broke through, full of barely-contained laughter. "That's never coming out."
Bucky stood frozen for a moment, blinking slowly as a bit of glitter drifted down from his eyelashes. His expression was one of pure, unfiltered murder. He spat out a mouthful of glitter, wiping his face in vain. "Fuck. This. Shit."
Steve, trying desperately not to burst out laughing, took a cautious step forward. "Bucky... I—”
Bucky wasn't listening. He dropped to one knee, fury in his eyes as he swung the sniper rifle off his back, his movements calm and deliberate despite the pink mess covering him. He braced the rifle, aimed toward the rooftop where Dr. Magnifico Malarkey was still standing, cackling like a maniac, and lined up his shot.
Without a word, Bucky fired.
The shot rang out, and for a split second, the mad doctor's cackling stopped abruptly as his ridiculous LED-lit top hat went flying off his head. He stood there in stunned silence, hatless, blinking in confusion.
"Tony, Sam," Bucky growled into the comms, his voice laced with venom, "he's all yours."
Tony's voice, filled with a grin, came through. "Copy that, Pink Panther."
"Don't." Bucky warned.
But Sam couldn't resist. "Damn, Buck, I'd say that look suits you."
Bucky fired another round into the air, this time clearly just to let off steam. "You both owe me after this."
As Sam and Tony swooped in from the air to take down Dr. Malarkey, Clint's laugh rang out again over the comms. "Honestly, I'm just impressed. Bucky's tactical pink attack — no one saw it coming."
"Clint, I swear—" Bucky started, but another puff of glitter fell from his hair, cutting off his threat as he groaned in frustration.
Steve stifled a laugh, patting Bucky on the shoulder. "You're doing great, sweetheart."
Bucky shot him a deadly glare. "Not. A. Word."
The battlefield was finally quiet. Dr. Magnifico Malarkey was in custody, his disco-bots destroyed, and the ridiculous neon-colored nightmare was over. Everyone was mostly fine, except for Clint, who was limping dramatically with a sprained ankle, and Bucky... who looked like he'd gone through a glitter factory explosion.
Bucky stood there, arms crossed, still covered head to toe in neon pink powder and glitter. His face was set in a deadly scowl, the kind of look that made grown men rethink their life choices. Steve approached him cautiously, suppressing a smile. "You okay? You wanna head home?"
Bucky turned slowly to Steve, his expression one of pure incredulity, like Steve had just said the dumbest thing in the world. "And track this," he gestured at his glitter-covered body, "into the house? And clean it out of the shower? Did you hit your head out there, Steve?"
Steve put his hands up in surrender. "Alright, fair point."
Nearby, Tony was snickering, unable to contain his amusement at the sight of Bucky looking like a grumpy, sparkly disco ball. As Bucky stormed off toward the compound's showers, clearly done with the entire situation, Tony sidled up to Steve. "What did you do to irritate your little Buck Kitten?"
Steve dragged a hand over his face, groaning. "I, uh, might've proposed last weekend. And then didn't say anything else about it."
Tony blinked at him, like Steve had just sprouted two heads. "You what?"
Steve quickly added, "But Bucky's been ignoring me for a week, so... there's that."
Tony looked from Steve to Bucky, who was now halfway across the compound, glitter shimmering in the sunlight as he stalked toward the showers. "Well, yeah. No wonder he's pissed. You drop a bomb like that and then just... what, leave him hanging?"
Steve sighed. "It wasn't exactly my best move."
Sam, who had been standing nearby listening to the whole exchange, shook his head. "Let me get this straight. He was finally ready to talk about it today, and then you answered the phone, and here you are. Covered in robot shrapnel and glitter instead of baking bread and getting married?"
Steve rubbed the back of his neck, sheepish. "Yeah... that's about right."
Sam snorted, crossing his arms. "Man, you're lucky you didn't propose with a text message."
Tony was still grinning like a Cheshire cat, clearly enjoying the drama. "You gotta fix this, Rogers. That much glitter's a cry for help."
Steve watched Bucky disappear into the compound, still sparkling under the sun. "I know, I know," he muttered. "I'll fix it. After he's had a shower."
"Yeah, you better," Sam chuckled. "But maybe next time? Let the call go to voicemail."
Steve pushed open the door to the compound's locker room , careful not to make too much noise. The shower was still running, steam filling the air, and Bucky stood in front of the mirror, a towel slung low around his waist. His hair was damp, drops of water still clinging to his chest, and he had his head tilted to the side, one finger digging into his ear.
"Damn glitter," Bucky muttered under his breath, clearly annoyed. He squinted at the mirror, trying to see if he'd managed to get the last stubborn specks out of his ear.
Steve leaned against the doorframe, unable to help the small smile tugging at his lips. Bucky, so serious, fighting a losing battle against a sea of sparkles. Even after everything they'd been through today, the sight was endearing in a way that made Steve's heart swell.
"Lose the amused look," Bucky grumbled, catching Steve's expression in the reflection. "This is anything but funny."
Steve quickly straightened up, clearing his throat to hide his smile. "Sorry. I wasn't—" He took a few steps closer, trying to sound apologetic but failing to mask the warmth in his voice. "It's just... you're still glittery."
Bucky shot him a flat look, dropping his hand from his ear. "Yeah, no shit, Steve. It's like the stuff's multiplying."
Steve chuckled softly, stepping closer until he was standing right behind Bucky. He could see the faint shimmer still clinging to Bucky's skin, the flecks of pink glitter catching the light even under the steam. Gently, Steve placed his hands on Bucky's shoulders, feeling the tension there, the frustration simmering just below the surface.
"Sorry," Steve said again, softer this time. His fingers traced down Bucky's arms, his voice low and sincere. "For everything. The glitter. The call. The proposal."
Bucky sighed, letting his head fall back slightly, leaning into Steve's touch. "You've got a lot to be sorry for, huh?"
Steve smiled, softer now, less amused and more filled with affection. "Yeah, I guess I do."
Bucky glanced back at him, his expression still a little annoyed but softening around the edges. "Just help me get this damn glitter off, and maybe I'll consider forgiving you."
Steve's grin widened, his hands sliding down to Bucky's waist, brushing the towel playfully. "I think I can manage that."
Steve's hands slid around Bucky's waist, the towel hanging by a thread as he leaned in close, his breath warm against Bucky's neck. Bucky's lips twitched into a small, reluctant smile, feeling Steve's familiar touch. He was still annoyed, sure—but when Steve looked at him like that, like Bucky was the only thing that mattered in the world, it was hard to stay mad for long.
"You know," Steve murmured, voice low and teasing, "we could save some water..."
Bucky rolled his eyes, though the hint of a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Steve, I just took a shower.."
Steve grinned, pressing a soft kiss to Bucky's shoulder. "Think of it as teamwork."
Bucky chuckled under his breath, the sound vibrating in his chest. "Fine," he relented, "but if I find more glitter on me after this, I'm gonna throw you in the next pile of robot shrapnel we come across."
"Deal," Steve said, already moving to undo the towel as he guided Bucky back toward the shower. The hot water hit them both, steam swirling around, and for a moment, everything else fell away—the mission, the glitter, the chaos.
It was just them.
Bucky's annoyed grumbles faded into contented silence, and whatever lingering frustrations he'd been holding onto washed away with the water. They moved in sync, hands roaming, not in a rush, just savoring the closeness that was theirs and theirs alone.
But that? That was nobody's business but theirs.
Steve jogged up the familiar road to their house, the early morning air crisp and refreshing. Music pumped through his headphones, fueling his steady pace as he smiled and waved at the neighbors along the way. Layla, the chatty one from next door, was out watering her garden. When she spotted him, she waved enthusiastically, calling out something Steve couldn't hear over the music.
He slowed as he reached their sidewalk, pulling out an earbud and wiping his face with the bottom of his shirt. Layla hollered something again, but Steve just gave her a tight-lipped smile and a wave before jogging up the steps and slipping into the house.
"Bucky?" he called out, pulling off his shoes by the door. Silence greeted him.
Steve sighed, raking a hand through his hair. He'd thought after their steamy shower last night, all would be forgiven. But boy, was he wrong. Bucky could freeze someone out with the best of them, and it seemed like Steve was still in the doghouse.
Following the smell of something delicious, Steve wandered into the kitchen. The sight that met him made his stomach rumble. Bucky was standing at the counter, elbow-deep in dough, working it like a pro. His hair was tied back, a focused expression on his face as he kneaded the dough with practiced hands. Two loaves of sourdough were cooling on the rack, their golden crusts perfect. On the counter beside them sat bagels—blueberry, everything bagels, and jalapeño-cheddar, their fragrant scents mixing with the fresh, warm smell of muffins. Chocolate chip, wild berry, and apple cinnamon muffins were cooling nearby, making the kitchen smell like a bakery.
Steve's mouth watered, but he didn't dare interrupt Bucky just yet. He knew better than to poke the bear when Bucky was in one of his moods, especially when it came to baking.
Instead, Steve leaned against the doorframe, watching his boyfriend work. The concentration on Bucky's face was intense, like this bread was some kind of personal mission. Steve's heart swelled. Even when Bucky was upset, he made magic in the kitchen.
"Smells amazing in here," Steve said softly, breaking the silence.
Bucky didn't even look up from his dough, but Steve caught the subtle twitch of his eyebrow.
Steve took a tentative step forward, eyeing the pile of fresh bagels. "Am I still in trouble, or can I steal one of those?" he asked, half teasing, half serious.
Bucky's hands paused for a moment before he resumed kneading. "Depends," he said, voice cool. "You gonna answer your phone the next time Sam calls, or finally talk to me first?"
Steve winced, rubbing the back of his neck. He walked over to the counter, picking up a jalapeño-cheddar bagel and breaking it in half. "Point taken," he muttered, taking a bite.
Bucky's lips twitched, but he didn't give in to a smile just yet. "I'm still deciding if you're forgiven."
Steve grinned, chewing slowly. "At least I get bagels while you decide."
Bucky huffed, a half-suppressed smile finally breaking through. "Don't push your luck, punk."
Steve grabbed the coffee pot and poured two mugs, setting one down on the counter next to Bucky before sliding into a seat at the kitchen table. He took another bite of his bagel, chewing thoughtfully as the quiet of the kitchen settled around them. He knew Bucky was still upset, but for the life of him, he couldn't figure out why. The proposal—it wasn't like Steve had just blurted it out without thinking. He'd put effort into it, choosing the pumpkin patch for its warm, autumnal charm. Wasn't that a grand enough gesture?
As he chewed, he stared at his coffee, mulling it over. Maybe he'd misread the situation. Bucky wasn't one for big, flashy moments, but he wasn't exactly subtle either. Maybe he had been hoping for something different—something that Steve, in all his trying, had missed.
Across the room, Bucky finished kneading his dough and carefully placed the last four loaves in the double oven. After wiping his hands on a kitchen towel, he turned to face Steve, crossing his arms as he leaned against the counter. There was an expectant look in his eyes, like he was waiting for Steve to figure something out.
Steve raised an eyebrow, glancing up at Bucky. "What?" he asked, setting his bagel down and gesturing toward the oven. "The bagels are great. The sourdough smells amazing. Are we good?"
Bucky just stared at him, arms still crossed, his silence louder than words.
Steve sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Okay, I can tell you're still upset. And I get that. But I don't understand why. Wasn't the pumpkin patch what you wanted? It felt... special, didn't it?"
Bucky's lips pressed into a thin line as he let out a breath. "Steve, it's not about where you asked. I don't care if it was over dinner or on the couch while we're watching TV. But you didn't say anything after. You just dropped the question on me like a grenade and walked away."
Steve blinked, his brow furrowing. "Wait, that's what you're upset about? Because I thought... I mean, I assumed you needed time to think, so I gave you space."
Bucky shook his head, pushing away from the counter and walking toward the table. He sat down across from Steve, his eyes softer but still serious. "I didn't need space, Steve. I needed you to talk to me. You can't just ask me to marry you and then act like it never happened. I wasn't looking for some big spectacle, but I didn't expect you to drop the question and leave me hanging for a week."
Steve rubbed his temples, groaning softly. "I'm an idiot, aren't I?"
Bucky chuckled, the sound low and rough, but there was no malice in it. "I wouldn't say idiot. But you definitely could've handled it better."
Steve sighed, leaning back in his chair. "I thought I was giving you time to process. I guess I misread that." He reached across the table, taking Bucky's hand in his. "I didn't mean to make you feel like I was avoiding the conversation."
Bucky looked down at their joined hands, squeezing gently. "It's not just that, Steve. It's that you didn't talk to me. I've been waiting for you to say something about it all week, and you just... didn't. That's why I'm upset."
Steve nodded slowly, the realization sinking in. "I get it now. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel like I wasn't serious about it."
Bucky's expression softened further, and he exhaled deeply. "It's okay. Just... don't do that again, alright?"
Steve smiled sheepishly, lifting Bucky's hand to his lips and kissing his knuckles. "Deal. I'll make it up to you."
Bucky smirked, finally letting go of the tension that had been hanging between them. "You better. Now, finish your bagel before it gets cold."
Steve's lips ghosted down Bucky's neck, leaving a warm trail in their wake as Bucky's breath hitched. Steve had Bucky's hands pinned above his head, fingers interlaced, holding them firm against the soft pillow. Bucky tugged slightly, testing the hold, but Steve only tightened his grip in response, a low chuckle vibrating against Bucky's skin.
"Don't even think about it," Steve murmured against his ear, his breath hot and teasing. His lips found that sensitive spot just beneath Bucky's jaw, and Bucky couldn't suppress the shiver that ran through him.
"Not thinking about anything," Bucky lied, his voice breathy, eyes hooded as he looked up at Steve. The way Steve was towering over him, his strength barely restrained, sent a pulse of heat through him. He could feel the steady pressure of Steve's body keeping him in place, the weight of it comforting and intoxicating all at once.
"Liar," Steve whispered, his lips curving into a smile before he kissed a slow, deliberate path down the column of Bucky's throat. He nipped lightly at the skin, earning a soft groan from Bucky. The sound went straight to Steve's core, and he hummed in satisfaction, his lips never leaving Bucky's neck.
Bucky arched his back slightly, pressing up into Steve's body, his breath coming faster. He was helpless in Steve's grip, and they both knew it. But that feeling—being held down by Steve, trusting him completely—was what made moments like this electrifying.
Steve paused for a moment, lifting his head to look down at Bucky. "Still want to pretend you're not thinking about anything?"
Bucky's lips twitched into a smirk, but his voice came out rough. "Maybe...maybe I'm thinking about how much I like this."
Steve's eyes darkened, his grip tightening just enough to make Bucky's pulse race. "Good," Steve growled softly, dipping his head to continue his slow, torturous kisses down Bucky's neck, savoring every sound that escaped Bucky's lips.
The soft sunlight of the morning began to fill the room, casting a gentle glow over the two of them as it crept across the bed. The light played on Steve's back, highlighting the contours of his muscles as he shifted his weight, never breaking contact with Bucky. It was moments like these that Bucky cherished deeply—the quiet, unguarded moments when the world seemed to pause just for them.
Steve moved slowly, deliberate in every touch, every breath against Bucky's skin. He shifted his position slightly, aligning their bodies even closer. With one hand still pinning Bucky's wrists, he used the other to trace a line down Bucky's side, over the curve of his rib, stopping at his hip. Steve's fingers danced lightly across the skin there, eliciting a shiver from Bucky.
Bucky caught his breath, eyes flickering with anticipation and a touch of mischief as he watched Steve's every move. "You know," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion and desire, "sometimes I forget just how much power you hold over me."
Steve smiled, a deep, affectionate expression that crinkled the corners of his eyes. "Only sometimes?" he teased back, leaning in to capture Bucky's lips in a soft, lingering kiss that spoke volumes more than words could.
Their kiss deepened, and Bucky's free hand came up to thread through Steve's hair, pulling him even closer if that were possible. The world outside their little cocoon seemed to fade away entirely as they lost themselves in each other.
After a moment, Steve pulled back slightly, resting his forehead against Bucky's. He gazed deeply into Bucky's eyes, seeing not just his reflection but their entire history together reflected back at him. "I love you," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper but thick with sincerity.
Bucky's heart swelled at the words, a smile touching his lips as he returned the gaze equally intensely. "I love you too, more than anything," he replied, his hand still entwined in Steve's hair, holding him close enough to feel every breath.
With a seductive sway of his hips, he bites down on his bottom lip and gazes up at Steve through thick, luscious lashes. Desire drips from every inch of his bare, taut body as his leaking member rubs against Steve's own, pulsing with need. Despite the small height difference between them, there is no denying the immense size of their throbbing cocks. Bucky's is long and thick, its fat, flushed head leaking with anticipation. But Steve's is even longer and thicker, boasting an impressive uncut length that Bucky can't help but crave. It's like unwrapping a decadent gift, slowly savoring each moment until they both explode with pleasure.
"Well," Bucky purrs, his voice low and sultry, "aren't you going to do something about that?"
Steve's eyes darkened further, a wicked grin playing at the corners of his mouth as he absorbed Bucky's challenge. "Oh, I intend to," he responded, his voice husky with promise. Leaning forward, he captured Bucky's lips once more in a kiss that was both punishing and passionate, leaving them both breathless.
Releasing Bucky's wrists, Steve traced his hands down Bucky's arms, over his chest, pausing to explore every inch of skin with the tips of his fingers. Bucky, now free, wrapped his arms around Steve, pulling him closer until there was no space left between their bodies. Their movements were fluid—two beings so in sync with each other that every shift and sigh was answered in kind.
Steve slid his hand down to grasp Bucky's hip, guiding him into a slow, grinding rhythm that matched the pulse of their hearts. Every roll of their hips deepened their connection, drawing small moans from their lips.
Bucky's whimpers turned into angry, sounding like a petulant child as Steve abruptly stopped their passionate activities. A small grin played on Steve's lips as he swatted at Bucky's hip in playful annoyance. But Bucky was already too distracted, taking full advantage of the moment to run his hands over Steve's firm and hairy chest. He couldn't resist tweaking a pert nipple, causing a sharp intake of breath from Steve. In one smooth motion, Steve reached for the half-empty bottle of lube on the nightstand.
He popped the cap open, smiling down at Bucky with a look of intent that sent shivers racing through Bucky's body. Steve poured a generous amount onto his hand, warming it between his palms before trailing his slick fingers down Bucky's thigh, drawing a line of goosebumps in their wake.
Bucky gasped slightly, his eyes locked on Steve's every move. The anticipation was almost as tantalizing as the touch itself. Steve's fingers lingered at Bucky's entrance, circling slowly, teasingly, before one finger slipped inside. Bucky breathed out a sigh of pleasure mixed with a hint of impatience.
"Steve," he murmured, a gentle nudge in his voice urging Steve to not hold back.
Steve responded by adding another finger, scissoring them gently to prepare Bucky thoroughly. He leaned down to kiss him again, swallowing the moans that Bucky let out as he deepened the kiss, mirroring the motion of his fingers. With each thrust and twist, Steve watched Bucky's reactions, savoring the flush that spread across his cheeks and the way his eyes fluttered shut in bliss.
"More," Bucky breathed out, his voice a mix of need and desire. Steve obliged, slipping a third finger in alongside the others, stretching him slowly but persistently. The slick sounds filled the room, accompanied by their shared breaths and quiet moans.
Steve's movements became more deliberate as he prepared Bucky, his own desire building as he felt Bucky relax and open up under his touch. When he felt Bucky was ready, Steve removed his fingers and reached for the lubricant again, coating himself thoroughly. He positioned himself at Bucky's entrance, locking eyes with him.
"Ready?" Steve asked, his voice low and rough with arousal.
Bucky nodded, pulling Steve down by the neck for another deep kiss. "Please," he whispered against Steve's lips.
With that confirmation , Steve pushed forward gently, entering Bucky with a slow, steady ease. Bucky's breath hitched, his arms tightening around Steve's neck as he adjusted to the feeling. The initial discomfort melted away quickly, replaced by a deep, pulsating pleasure that made him moan into Steve's mouth.
Steve paused for a moment, allowing Bucky to get comfortable, his face buried in the crook of Bucky's neck, breathing in the scent that was uniquely him. With each controlled breath, Steve began to move, pulling back slightly only to push forward again. Each thrust was met with a soft groan from Bucky, encouraging him to slowly increase his pace.
The bed creaked under their weight and movement, a rhythmic sound that matched Steve's steady thrusts. The room was filled with the sound of their labored breathing and the wet noises of their union. Steve shifted slightly to change the angle and depth of his thrusts, eliciting a sharp gasp from Bucky, who clenched around him in response.
"That's it, right there," Bucky managed to say between heavy breaths, his eyes now tightly shut as waves of pleasure washed over him. Steve focused on that spot, intensifying his thrusts but maintaining the slow, deliberate pace that drove Bucky wild.
Steve's hand found Bucky's hand, their fingers intertwining tightly, grounding each other as they navigated through the increasing heat and desire that threatened to overwhelm them. Bucky lifted his hips to meet Steve's thrusts, desperate for more contact, more pressure.
Bucky opened his eyes, locking onto Steve's with a gaze filled with unspoken emotions and raw need. The connection was palpable, almost tangible in its intensity, and it pushed them further into the abyss of pleasure.
"Steve... I'm close," Bucky whispered, his voice cracking under the strain of overwhelming sensations.
"Me too," Steve replied gruffly, his strokes becoming more erratic as he neared his climax. He leaned in to kiss Bucky hard, their lips crashing together in a desperate meld of passion and need. The sound of their bodies, slick with sweat and other fluids, filled the air along with their moans. "Fuck, I love you Buck, love you so much baby," he rambled.
Bucky lets out a guttural whimper and bites down hard on his bottom lip, feeling like he is about to unravel at the seams. His entire body trembles with pent-up emotion, ready to explode into a million pieces at any moment.
Steve's movements grew more urgent, the bed rocking beneath them as he drove into Bucky with a fervor that matched the storm of emotions inside him. Bucky met each of Steve's thrusts with an eagerness and intensity that only heightened the pleasure coursing through them both.
"Ah—fuck!" Steve's movements became frantic, his hips rolling like a machine as he pounded into Bucky. Each slap of skin echoed through the room as he growled out his desires between grunts. "Can't get enough of you...wanna make you mine forever," he managed to gasp out before losing himself in pleasure once again.
Bucky arched beneath him, nails digging into Steve's back as the intensity increased. "Yeah?" he moaned, barely able to form words amidst the overwhelming sensations coursing through his body.
"Fuck yeah," Steve confirmed with a primal roar, his eyes locking onto Bucky's with fierce determination. "Wanna marry you, make you my husband."
Bucky's breathing became ragged, his body tensing as he neared the edge.
"Yes....Yes...Yes!" His grip on Steve tightened, fingernails digging into Steve's back as waves of ecstasy began to break over him. "Steve!" he gasped out, his voice a strained whisper laden with emotion as he came, spilling between their bodies.
Feeling Bucky clench around him was enough to send Steve over the edge. With a few more deep, powerful thrusts, he followed, releasing with a loud, guttural moan that echoed through the room. His movements slowed as he rode out the waves of his climax, each pulse and twitch drawing another soft moan from Bucky.
As their breathing steadied, Steve collapsed gently onto Bucky, careful not to crush him with his weight. They lay there intertwined in the stillness that followed their storm, hearts beating in sync as they caught their breaths. The air around them was heavy with warmth and love, the kind that could only be forged in the fires of shared passion and intimate connection.
The room was quiet except for the sound of their steady breathing. The sheets were tangled around their legs, and Steve's arm was draped over Bucky's chest, holding him close. Their skin still warm, slick with the aftermath of their lovemaking. Steve, ever the talker afterward, was rambling softly, his voice a soothing hum as Bucky lay back, basking in the peaceful moment.
"I was thinking, you know," Steve murmured, his words a little disjointed as his mind wandered. "About everything we've been through, and how...well, how lucky I am to have you."
Bucky's eyes were closed, a small, content smile on his lips as he hummed in response, not really listening but enjoying the warmth of Steve's voice. But then Steve paused, and Bucky's attention piqued.
Bucky's eyes blinked open at that. "Huh?"
Steve lifted his head slightly, his expression soft and filled with affection. He brushed a sweaty lock of hair from Bucky's forehead and leaned in, pressing a tender kiss to his lips. When he pulled back, his voice was barely a whisper against Bucky's mouth. "Marry me."
Bucky let out a breath, somewhere between a laugh and a groan, his hand sliding up to cup the back of Steve's neck. "Steve, I already said yes, you big lummox."
Steve's eyes searched Bucky's face, his own filled with that familiar, earnest vulnerability. "I know, but...I just...it feels like I've been waiting forever to hear you say it. I guess I need to hear it again....this time less moaning."
Bucky shook his head, amusement and affection coloring his features. "You're such a sap." But there was no denying the warmth in his chest as he tightened his grip on Steve and pulled him in for another kiss, slow and deep.
When they finally broke apart, Bucky smirked, his voice softer, more serious. "Yes, Steve. I'll marry you. I already told you, but if you need to hear it a thousand times, I'll say it a thousand times."
Steve's smile was wide, his heart full. "I think I'll hold you to that," he whispered, settling back down into Bucky's embrace.
As they lay there, the world beyond the walls of their room felt far away. It was just them, tangled together in the aftermath of love and promises. And for Steve, hearing Bucky's simple "yes" was all the reassurance he ever needed.

Some slight canon divergence. Based on a request from @magnificentfurybluebird. The next part will cover the events of WandaVision & FATWS.
You could tell Vincent was having second thoughts about the overnight when you got back to where Wong and Stephen were waiting. It had been a long, stressful day for all of you. You were nearly ready to say forget the whole thing until you saw the way Stephen was eyeing you, and you realized just how much you really did need your alone time with him.
"Alright baby, be good for Uncle Wong. You know you can call at any time if you need me. We will see you in the morning after breakfast. Love you, sweetie. Have fun."
You gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. Sending him to go over and get a hug and kiss from Stephen too. Wong took his little hand and seeing the pout on his face whispered loud enough for you and Stephen to hear.
"Trust me it will be more fun at Kamar-Taj. You don't want to be here when they get all mushy. I've seen it. It's gross. Besides, we've got candy."
That made Vincent giggle, and he happily walked through the portal into the courtyard of Kamar-Taj, the moon already sitting high in the dark night sky dotted with stars. Your little boy did not even stop to wave as he headed off.
Stephen walked up behind and wrapped his arms around your waist. His suit jacket and tie had been shed while you were getting Vincent ready to go. He ducked down so his face was nuzzling into your neck. Already leaving kisses on your sensitive skin. His fingertips digging into and kneading the flesh of your hips and belly.
You let your head drop back onto his shoulder and closed your eyes. Focusing on the smell of Stephen's cologne.
"So I'm thinking we share a nice long soak in the tub with a bottle of wine, then we break in those brand new sheets on our bed. We can spend the whole night making that bedroom ours again. If I remember correctly, the couch and the dresser also have some fond memories we can recreate."
A soft sigh falling at the ideas. Honestly, as much as you wanted Stephen, a long hot bath sounded incredible on its own. All it took was a nod and a little moan to communicate how perfect that sounded.
When you opened your eyes, you found yourself already standing in the master bathroom. Staring back into Stephen's mischievous blue eyes through the mirror. Letting him undress you before telling you to run the bath while he went to get the wine.
By the time he got back with the bottle and two glasses, you had already climbed into the warm water. Already starting to feel much more relaxed as you sipped your wine and watched your husband undress.
"Enjoying the show?"
You hadn't looked away for a single second while Stephen removed the rest of his clothes. Studying each new expanse of bare flesh that came into view. Until now, you had only gotten glimpses of him as he changed. So far, your son had been clinging to one or both of you, preventing you from really enjoying having Stephen back romantically. Now you were getting to see every square inch.
"Very much so. Forgot how much of a fine specimen of man you are, Doctor. I'm a very lucky woman to call you mine."
You snuggled back into his chest once he had joined you in the tub and reflected on the day. It had been long and full of sadness, but you also felt weirdly hopeful at the future that lay before you. Pepper and Morgan were holding up okay, and you were looking forward to rekindling your friendship with Pepper. Honestly, Happy seemed to be the one who had the hardest time during the service.
You were also glad that Stephen had a chance to clear the air with Steve. You weren't expecting them to go out for a beer together anytime in the near future, but their conversation could have gone much worse. You knew Steve would be a gentleman, and you knew that he always knew your heart still belonged to your husband, but Stephen didn't like to share his toys. Stephen was the one you had been worried about flying off the handle.
"You know I dreamt of you almost every single night during those 5 years?"
He unwrapped his arms from around you momentarily and grabbed a bottle of body wash. Pouring some in his hand before working to spread it down your arms and chest. After a moment, he responded very matter of factly.
"Those weren't dreams darling, most of them anyway. It was me trying to communicate with you. When Thanos snapped, we didn't just disappear. We were somewhere else. In another dimension, or at least our souls and minds were. Most people don't seem to remember it. For them, it felt like they were gone for mere seconds. Even Wanda and some of the other sorcerers I've spoken to since only have slightly more memory of that place, of how long we were actually there. I could feel time passing. That's when I started trying to reach out to you. In particular, after I realized you would have already had our son. I wanted so badly to be with you. I figured out before long that because of Vincent, our souls were still connected. So I called out to you whenever I could. When you were asleep, you almost always heard me. I wouldn't be surprised if you asked Clint, and he said he had similar dreams about his family. They just probably don't remember calling out to him. So everyone else will write them off as just dreams, but they weren't. They were real. I was one of the few who could manipulate my surroundings, though, so I always tried to make it look like somewhere else. Somewhere, we could talk about happier things. I didn't like seeing you sad."
You weren't even surprised by a good chunk of what you heard anymore. This was one of those times. In reality, you had always hoped that somehow your dreams were Stephen trying to contact you. To find a way to be with you. During the blip, you tried to keep yourself from believing it, even if you knew it might be possible. If you let yourself believe it, then you knew you never would have even tried to move on. Not that you got very far.
"What about the dreams I had where you had a ponytail? Or there were a couple where you had no goatee, and your cloak was the most beautiful shade of blue. It matched your eyes so well. Not that you don't look amazing in the red cloak, and everything really."
He smiled and even giggled, nearly choking on the sip of wine he had taken when you mentioned him with a ponytail. Of all his questionable life and style choices, he was pleased to say that was never one he had ever considered.
"Those were just dreams. If I ever decide to grow a ponytail, I think it's safe to assume I'm having some sort of mid-life crisis. You and Wong are free to set up some sort of intervention."
You took some of the body wash in your hand and pulled one of Stephen's hands into yours. Massaging the joints and tracing over his scars. Leaving a kiss on each knuckle. Sometimes, after a long day, you knew his hands got a little stiff and achy. He also definitely wasn't as used to carting around your son as you were.
"How are your hands feeling? You were holding Vincent a lot today."
He flexed and contracted his fingers into a fist a few times. The warm water of the bath had taken care of most of the discomfort he had been feeling. In all honesty, his hands hurt to at least some extent on most days, but there were some things that always made them feel better. Having his hands on you was one of them.
"Why don't I show you how my hands are feeling?"
Stephen let his fingers fall from your caressing touch and sink under the water. One hand drew small shapes and patterns on the skin of your low belly. The other hand kept moving down to your thigh, his long fingers dipping down to the inside of your leg stroking the skin there. His touch imploring you to spread your legs for him. Which you happily obliged.
He whispered 'good girl' into your ear when he felt your legs move without him prompting. A little high-pitched moan fell from your lips at his praise. You had always loved it when Stephen called you his good girl, and he loved how you always preened at his praise. The smallest compliment from him whispered in your ear, turning you to putty in his hands.
When his fingertips began caressing the crease of your hip but not going any further before moving across your pubic mound to repeat the action on the other side, you were whimpering for him to do more. When he pulled his hand up and let his fingers rest on your pubic bone, a dark chuckle came from deep in his chest when your hips started to roll on their own. Trying to push his hand between your legs.
Your nails dug into his muscular thighs as each second felt like an hour. In all of the time he had been gone, you had never wanted or needed your husband's touch as much as you did right then.
"Stephen, please. Do you have to tease me tonight? I can feel how hard you are and how bad you want me. I want you even more. Please touch me, Stephen. I need you. I've needed you for so long."
His own self-restraint nearly failed at your begging. Especially when you mentioned you could feel him. He had been trying to behave, but clearly, you knew where his brain had been since he got you naked. Before he took you to bed, he wanted to hear you make all the little noises he had missed.
"Did you ever think about this while I was gone? About my hands on you? Pretend your own fingers were mine? I bet you thought about it in the tub, just like we are right now. I know how relaxed the warm water makes you. Did you touch yourself and think of me?"
All you could do was whimper and nod as you relaxed farther into his chest. You had thought about it many, many times while Stephen was gone. The only person you ever fantasized about for nearly the entire five years was your husband. No one else could even turn your head for the longest time.
He was pleased with how quickly you began to nod. Keeping the heel of his hand pressed on your pubic bone, he let his fingers start to move down and tease at your sex. Using his middle and ring fingers to stroke your outer lips up and down. Avoiding touching your clit completely. He could feel your skin was now getting warmer than the water around you. He wanted you nice and wound up as he intended on spending all night working on you.
"Did you tease yourself like I am right now? Or were you so needy you went right for that pretty clit and that tight little hole? You get so wet so fast when you're all horny baby. Bet you are already dripping."
He moved his middle finger to stroke up your slit. Letting it dip into your warm channel to feel just how slick you were for him. He was not disappointed by what he felt. Your warm sticky fluids easily coated his fingertip. Part of him wished you weren't in the tub so he could get a good taste of you without the potential of it being watered down. The thought of your taste on his tongue again made his mouth water. He made a mental note to wake you up in the morning with his tongue.
God, he had missed touching you. Feeling you. Not just like this, but definitely like this. Like only he knew how. Call it being pompous, but he knew that the Captain could never elicit the same responses from you that he did. The super soldier could never know your body the way he did. He hated the thought of another man pleasuring you, but he relished the thought that you still found yourself fantasizing about him when you touched yourself.
Stephen slowly let his middle finger start to draw lazy circles around your clit. Still avoiding direct pressure but massaging you enough that the deeper nerves around it were being stimulated. Making it so when he finally did stroke the engorged bundle of nerves you would be on the verge of shattering from a single touch. Occasionally letting his finger dip back down to probe inside you. Never more than a couple thrusts. Just enough to get you going. Pulling out when he felt you starting to clench around him.
His other hand moved up to paw at your breasts. Gently tugging at one nipple then the other. Feeling them pebble against the cool air in contrast to the warmth of the water and Stephen's touch. At this point, you were trying to turn around in his arms to face him. Patience was never your strong suit, and right now, he could tell you were itching to get him into bed under the covers so you could enjoy him as much as he was enjoying you.
"I'm not letting you out of this tub until you cum for me. Do you understand? I can tell you want to take this to the bedroom, to have me fuck you and make love to you, but I have five years of missed orgasms to make up for. So you are gonna be good and let me play with you just a little bit longer."
Your body went slack against his as you whispered a soft "Yes, sir" into the side of his neck. Surrendering to him completely. You had missed his dominant side in bed. That was one area where Steve had been very much a novice, leaving you in charge more often than not. You craved the feeling of being told what to do.
Yes, you were craving soft, sweet sex with your husband too, but right now, the animal part of your brain was in charge, and that part of you wanted to be manhandled. In order to be good, you braced your hands on the edge of the tub. Your fingers quickly showed just how tight you were gripping the porcelain, and in turn just how close Stephen had you to cumming.
Your moans and whimpers getting louder with each passing second. Music to Stephen's ears. After a few more minutes of toying with you. Feeling your wetness grow until you were dripping even beneath the water of the bathtub. He devoted his attention to your clit.
His thumb stroking the bundle of nerves as he buried his long index and middle finger deep inside you. Curling them upward when he felt your cunt start convulsing and squeezing him tight. He couldn't wait to feel the same thing around his cock again. Smiling at the beautiful sight of your back arched and your breasts breaching up through the water of the tub as you climaxed.
After letting you rest for a moment, your breath finally coming back to you as Stephen nuzzled into your neck and held you in his arms, he reached over to grab one of the large fluffy towels he had set nearby. The water in the tub now tepid, and your skin was starting to get goosebumps from the cool air.
You reached to pull the drain plug and slowly started to stand on somewhat wobbly legs. Stephen stood up with you. Holding onto you as you stepped onto the cold tile bathroom floor and making sure you didn't fall. He started to dry both of you with a large soft towel. Alternating back and forth between your two bodies, making sure to dry your hair as well. Placing kisses on your bare skin and silently holding you as he dried you.
Once you were both mostly dry, he threw the towel to the side and scooped you into his arms. Your bare bodies effectively kept each other warm as he carried you to your shared bed. Just as he had on your wedding night. The bedspread and top sheet were already magically pulled back. Something Stephen no doubt did while you were still in a post-orgasm fog.
He laid you down softly on the gigantic bed and quickly joined you. Pulling the covers up over your waists to keep you warm while you took your time with foreplay, even though both of you were already excited enough, you both wanted to make this an event. You wanted this night to make up for everything you two had missed together, or at the very least, get a good headstart on it, so that meant no rushing whatsoever.
So you let yourselves lay there in each other's arms, kissing and caressing every inch of each other's flesh except where you both craved it most. Holding out until you couldn't stand it any longer.
"Stephen, please, make love to me. I need to feel you inside of me so badly. I can't wait any longer."
Stephen carefully rolled you onto your back and smiled down at you adoringly. His body already slotted perfectly between your legs. The feeling of his hard cock against your dripping cunt making your hips thrust gently against him. Aching for any friction you could get against your throbbing clit.
Your actions pulled a low growl from his throat as he leaned down to nip at your pouting bottom lip. He knew this first round probably wouldn't last terribly long. He was so desperate to finally feel you again after all that time. The fact that you were so desperate for him to guarantee he wouldn't be able to control himself for long.
He let the tip of his cock gently start to prod at your hole. You cunt fluttering in response to his teasing.
"Does that feel good, baby? Do you want more? Do you know how hard it's been these last few days, with your perfect body so close and we couldn't do anything? All I could think about was this perfect little pussy. Not sure my cock has ever been this hard baby. All for my beautiful wife. Even more beautiful now than the last time we were right here in this bed together."
He leaned down to kiss you once more before letting his forehead rest on yours as he finally pushed inside you. Your nails clawing into his back at feeling of finally being filled by him again. The thought of finally having your husband inside you again after losing him for five years bringing tears to your eyes.
Stephen stopped in place, completely sheathed inside of you when he saw the tear trickle down your cheek. He wanted to make sure he wasn't hurting you in any way and that nothing was wrong. He shushed you gently as he wiped the tear away with his thumb. Leaving a kiss on the dampened skin, it left behind.
"Are you okay, sweetheart? We can stop if we need to. We don't have to…"
You cut him off with a firm kiss and a warm, bright smile. Reassuring him that you did want to keep going and that your tears were actually of joy.
"Stephen, of course, I want to keep going. Don't you dare stop. It's just that for the first time in five years, I feel whole again. Right here, right now. I have my missing piece back where it belongs. Now please start moving, baby, and don't be gentle. I want to really feel you."
Your lips crashed together as he obeyed your command. Pulling nearly completely out of you before slamming his hips forward again. The headboard knocked into the wall with the force. Keeping a slow pace but making sure each time he thrust into you was hard and deep. Exactly how you wanted it.
Stephen buried his head in the crook of your neck as he fucked you. One of your hands was buried in his thick dark hair as the other clung to his shoulder. The speed of his thrusts increasing as you whispered all the filthy thoughts you had kept inside for so long. Dreaming of this moment.
"Never stopped thinking of you. Of how good you fuck me, Stephen. Of how perfect your cock feels. Of how it feels when you cum inside me. I craved to be full of your cum again. I swear I'm never going more than a day without your cock again."
You could feel him frantically nod against your skin in between bites and kisses. You knew you might have a hickey or two to hide tomorrow, but you couldn't have cared less. A deep moan pulled from your chest as Stephen found just the right angle inside you. Your legs moved to wrap around him, and you started grinding against him.
"Oh fuck, Stephen, faster please. You're gonna make me cum. Cum with me baby. Fill me up. Please cum in me, Stephen."
Your words sent Stephen careening over the edge into his own climax. Feeling your cunt milk his cock he swore he would hold to your promise. Even after both of you had come down from your orgasms, you stayed exactly as you were. Neither of you wanted to pull apart until you absolutely had to.
Not that there was much point in separating anyway. You both knew that this was just the first round of several that night, and many back in your own bed with the man you loved. The man you waited for and would always want. Your Stephen. Your husband.
--------------------------------
You didn't know how much sleep you and Stephen managed to get in between your amorous romps, but it wasn't much. Neither of you cared, though. You were both plenty happy to spend the next day a bit tired. There was five years of fucking and love making to make up for.
The sing-song of the birds outside the bedroom window was what woke both of you. It was much nicer than your normal wake-up call of a blaring alarm or a hungry hyper child. You let yourself bask in the relaxed environment for a little bit longer. Relishing the feel of waking up in your husband's arms in your shared bed again. A bed you hadn't slept in for so long. Knowing soon that Wong would be bringing Vincent back.
Your husband had a different idea, though. Stephen's hands quickly found your body, and his lips found your neck, like you were connected by magnets. He was no less voracious than he had been the entire night before.
"Stephen, we don't have long before Vincent gets back. Don't you wanna sleep in a little longer?"
You already knew the answer as you could already feel his cock hard against your ass. His hips grinding forward gently, making sure you knew what he wanted.
"I'd much rather spend that time fucking my beautiful wife. Why don't you let me wake you up a little more. You just lay there and enjoy it, darling."
Stephen dove under the covers and began kissing his way down your naked body. Stopping to suckle briefly on both nipples before continuing his trek to end up with his head between your thighs. Just as he laced his arms under your legs and descended onto your inner thighs, you heard your phone buzz. Groaning as you reached over to grab it, having a sneaking suspicion, you knew exactly who it was.
Sure enough, it was a text from Wong:
Is it safe?
Trying not to giggle as you read it out loud to Stephen, who still had not stopped nipping at your hip bones from under the covers. Trying even harder not to fall apart laughing when Stephen yelled from beneath the blankets that he was gonna need somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour. Kissing over your pubic mound and sucking the sensitive skin so close to your pussy.
Before you lost all composure, you quickly typed out a message and hit send. Not bothering to read back what you wrote before throwing the phone back on the nightstand just in time. Your brain turning to goo when you felt Stephen's tongue pressed flat against you licking up over your entire cunt.
Your back arched, and your fingers gripped the sheets, a loud moan pulled from your chest. His mouth closing around your clit and sucking lightly before releasing it. The feeling of his mouth on you was heavenly. The scruff of his goatee making you even more sensitive.
You couldn't help the little whimper that fell from your lips when you felt his mouth leave your skin. Only to start moaning even louder when he started lapping at you with ferocity. His own little growls, sending vibrations all the way up your spine.
Eventually, he began to tease you in the way he knew would have begging for more. Alternating long licks with sucking on your clit. His tongue never stopping. A single finger barely grazing your slit. Stroking over and over as drew little circle with his tongue.
A tingling had started building in your low belly, your orgasm coming faster than you would have expected. Although, you had always been amazed at how good Stephen was with his mouth. Suddenly you were pulled from your impending high when he stopped all his movements completely and pulled his mouth off of your needy cunt.
"Stephen, why did you stop?!"
You couldn't keep the pout out of your voice. He knew how close you were, and he knew he had you right where he wanted you. He kissed his way up between your breasts. A Chesire cat grin on his face when it popped up from beneath the covers. His hair tousled, and his blue eyes dark with lust.
"I said I was going to wake you up. I never said anything about letting you cum. If you ask nicely I bet I can make you cum another way. Do you still want to go back to sleep darling? Or should we use our time differently?"
He had positioned himself perfectly so when he began to softly rock his hips forward his cock was sliding between your wet folds. Coating him in your arousal and riling you up even more. Your legs spread even more trying to get as much stimulation as you possibly could.
Every nerve was alight, and you felt incredible. Completely absorbed in the moment and your husband. Your amazing husband was the only man who could make you feel this way. You were sure of it. You needed more, and you knew he wanted more.
"Fuck me Stephen. Fuck me and make me cum. Please."
He growled when he heard you begging. It had to be one of the most beautiful sounds in the universe. He sat back on his heels and pulled your legs up over his shoulders. Getting you into exactly the position he wanted. Hunger in his gaze as he took in every inch of bare flesh before him.
Reaching between you he positioned his cock right at your opening. A devious smile on his face as he gave you clit a sharp little slap. A loud groan escaping your lips as they sensation shot through you. He grabbed your hips with both hands and you could tell he intended to set a fast rough pace this time.
"That's it, baby. I want you to be nice and loud right now. Let's enjoy our last little bit of alone time to its fullest extent. I want you to be screaming my name by the rune we are done."
It was a very good thing. Wong had seen your text response and decided to give you two hours instead. He knew what your garbled response meant, and he had no intention of walking in on it.
Stephen says another half hour to an hoursdbmpng.
--------------------------------
After his shower, Stephen was surprised to find you downstairs, busy in the Sanctum's kitchen. The smell of eggs and his favorite chocolate chip pancakes practically carrying him down the stairs like a cartoon. His heart practically burst out of his chest when he saw you fully absorbed in your cooking and humming a song to yourself. You looked like a dream come true, a dream he never knew he wanted until you.
"It smells incredible in here. When did you learn to cook so well? I remember you messing up toast."
He came up and wrapped his arms around your waist as you carried the last couple pancakes over the island and added them to the sizable stack you had already made. You were used to having to feed not only a growing child but a super soldier and an assassin. You were gonna have to relearn how to cook for just the three of you, maybe four with Wong.
"You can thank Pepper for most of it. Actually, you can thank Nat and Steve, too. After seeing Nat nearly burn the compound down and tasting most of the recipes Steve learned back in the great depression I didn't have much choice."
Stephen chuckled with his face buried against the skin of your neck in between soft kisses. Just when he thought you were already the perfect wife, you suddenly found a way to get even more incredible. He didn't expect to come back to his very own perfect little housewife.
Truth be told, deep down in his chest, he feared he would come back to no wife at all. That you would have moved on with your life. Happier without him. He wouldn't have blamed you, but he was grateful to the fates that you had held out hope for him. Hope in him.
"You have no idea how sick I got of peanut butter sandwiches in those first few months."
Stephen turned you around in his arms and pressed your low back into the counter. He pressed his body as firm to yours as he could manage without actually pushing you onto the counter. His arms around your waist and yours instinctively looping around his neck. Toying with the still slightly damp tendrils of hair at the base of his skull.
"Well, I will never get sick of anything you make or anything about you. I love you. God, I missed you so much."
His lips were back on yours and once again full of passion and hunger. His tongue quickly sneaking into your mouth. You could still taste the mint from his toothpaste. Instinctively, you pulled even closer and forgot everything, but the man wrapped in your arms, kissing you breathless.
You and Stephen completely missed the sound of a portal opening. Only to be snapped from your make-out session when Wong cleared his throat. Looking over, you found him rolling his eyes and covering your son's eyes with his hand. A light blush dusted your cheeks at the realization you had been caught.
"Excuse me, but there is now a child present, and the Sorcerer Supreme. So tongues in your own mouths, if you please."
Stephen huffed and rolled his eyes at both the mention of Wong now being Sorcerer Supreme and that he had to stop kissing you. He still had so much lost time to make up for. You had to fight the urge to giggle at how he and Wong fell right back into their normal Odd Couple back and forth as if a day hadn't passed. Some things apparently never change.
"Hey sweetie, were you good for Uncle Wong? Didn't cause too much trouble, I hope."
Your son ran over and hugged you tight. Your hand finger combing through his thick dark brown hair. His bright blue eyes that mirrored Stephen's looking up at you as he excitedly started telling you about his evening with Wong.
"No, Mama. I was good. I helped Uncle Wong teach class!"
An exaggerated surprised expression on your face at his news. Stephen's eyebrows genuinely quirked up in interest at the idea that his son was already learning the mystic arts. Vincent loved helping Wong with his duties and classes. Not that he did much other than follow him around, but Wong was very good at making him feel like he was contributing a lot.
"He was a very good assistant. A very good listener, too. He must get that from his mother. I look forward to the day I can really start teaching him."
Your son beamed at Wong's compliment and turned around to give him a little bow, which Wong returned. Very excited at the idea that he could someday learn the mystic arts from his Uncle Wong. He was smart as a whip, and given that he was Stephen's son, you both had no doubt that when that time came, he would pick it up quickly. You were also both pleased that Vincent seemed much less intent on challenging every authority figure the way Stephen did. He took more after you, the teacher's pet, and for that, Wong was thrilled.
Not that Wong didn't respect Stephen as a sorcerer, but Stephen from day one had a tendency to do things before he was ready. Or, according to Wong, before fully reading through a spell all the way to the warnings. He was prideful and still had a tendency to be vain. You had heard Wong tell him over and over to consider all sides before acting and that it wasn't about how fast he could learn something.
In the time you had known him Stephen had worked to humble himself, and made significant strides in earning the responsibility and respect he had gotten, but you couldn't help but notice how much the fact he was no longer Sorcerer Supreme seemed to be bothering him. You would have to talk to him about it tonight. Try to get him to see the upsides. Especially since it meant he could spend more time with you and Vincent. See if you couldn't get him to not pout about Wong having the higher duties now.
Vincent reached out to tug on the bottom of Stephen's shirt to get his attention.
"Daddy, you're supposed to bow for the Sorcerer Supreme. That's Uncle Wong."
Your son tried to helpfully inform Stephen, much to his chagrin. You could see his teeth clench even though he tried to keep his facial expression neutral. Of course, it was whisper-yelled as children tend to do. So both you and Wong heard everything loud and clear.
"I'm aware of the customs… Let's go put your bag down, shall we?"
Stephen quickly tried to change the topic so his son wouldn't make him bow to Wong. Wong was busy grinning proudly when Stephen walked Vincent past him and over to the table to help him with his backpack. You walked over to give Wong a quick hug and a thank you for giving you and Stephen the night to yourselves.
"I am always in your debt, Wong. You are truly a life saver and hands down the best babysitter ever. Do you want to stay for breakfast?"
Wong happily returned the hug and smiled. He had always been softer with you than with Stephen. Partly because he knew it would get under Stephen's skin, but partly because you were always so warm and good-hearted with him. You genuinely tried to help where you could and would go out of your way to make someone's day better. Wong respected you immensely for that. So he always felt happy to return the gesture.
"You know I am always happy to help, my friend. He genuinely is a pleasure to have around. I mean it about teaching him when he's a bit older. I have no doubt he will be gifted. I must head back to Kamar-Taj, however, so I will take a rain check on breakfast."
He bid everyone a quick goodbye and opened the portal back to Kamar-Taj, turning back to wave bye to Vincent one final time before closing it behind him. Vincent is now sitting in his normal spot at the small kitchen table. Stephen standing next to him.
You moved back to the counter to start bringing plates full of food over to the table, you knew that even if your son had eaten at Kamar-Taj he would still want pancakes if you and Stephen were eating.
As Stephen took the plates from you and set them down on the table so you could finish getting the silverware, you heard him try to strike up a conversation with Vincent. You rolled your eyes a little when you heard the topic. Something you were definitely going to have to address later.
"You know, before you were born, I was the Sorcerer Supreme. Your dad was Sorcerer Supreme. Not your Uncle Wong."
Your son was hardly paying attention. Already having spotted the pancakes and stealing several from the stack. Somewhat messily sliding them onto his own plate before starting to frantically search for the syrup you had in your hand.
You leaned down to press a kiss to the top of Stephen's head to console him since it was now apparent Vincent had ignored him. Stephen pulled you down to sit in his lap as you reached over and quickly cut Vincent's pancakes before he could attempt to swallow them whole.
"Hey, how come he didn't tell you to bow to Wong?"
Stephen assumed Vincent still wasn't listening, but like any five year old, he chose the perfect opportune moment to check back into the conversation. Before you could say anything to distract Stephen and get him to a more upbeat topic, your son answered.
"She's mom. Uncle Wong says moms are even more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme."
You giggled to yourself before looking over your shoulder at Stephen. Winking at him.
"And don't you forget it, Strange."
--------------------------------
You had put Vincent to bed several hours ago and you had retired to your bedroom. Already changed into an oversized night shirt and washed your face. Busy working on your to-do list for the next day and double-checking your calendar. The reading glasses you had started needing only a year prior perched on your face, and your hair pulled into a messy bun.
You were in full mom mode by the time Stephen came in to join you. Making notes about groceries, meal planning, and laundry. As well as other things you wouldn't have put too much thought in before you had a child. You hardly registered Stephen's presence until he commented on how he still wasn't used to your glasses.
"Is it weird that I find you even sexier in those reading glasses? I think they may be my favorite new thing about you since I got back. They are just so hot."
You snorted in amusement at his statement. Truthfully, you kind of liked them too, but the fact that they seemed to have such an effect on Stephen certainly pleased you. At his core, despite his hot shot reputation as a surgeon and then sorcerer, you knew deep down Stephen was a total nerd. Although, Steve had a similar reaction to your glasses, too. Maybe it was just something about the mom/librarian look.
Either way, you were happy about it. Of course, now that Stephen was done with his duties for the day, you wanted to talk to him about Wong before he distracted you with sex. Now was the perfect time.
"Stephen, can we talk about something, please? I know you are upset you aren't Sorcerer Supreme anymore. I know you are having a hard time with that, with Wong being Sorcerer Supreme now."
You watched as his gaze dropped, seeming to try and figure out how he wanted to respond. Whether he wanted to try and deny your claims or just go ahead and admit what you already knew.
You let him continue changing out of his robes and into his sweats in silence. Giving him time to answer on his own. When he was ready. You could see the gears turning behind his beautiful blue eyes.
"I'm not upset, I'm just… okay, I'm a little upset. I worked hard for that. I finally had a purpose again."
He sat down on the bed opposite you, now completely changed, and let his head fall. Studying his hands carefully. No doubt replaying the events that led him to becoming Sorcerer Supreme in the first place. All the feelings of inadequacy he had before finding his place in the world again. Before becoming a sorcerer. Before finding you.
"Baby, you still have purpose even if you aren't Sorcerer Supreme. You are still a hero. You are still the master of this Sanctum. You are still a husband and a father. I hope Vincent and I give you purpose anyway. Maybe this is a chance for you to make up for the time you missed. You said the other night you can't believe how much you missed with Vincent. Maybe the universe wanted to make it up to you by giving you more time with him now."
The speed of his response told you he wanted to avoid even an inkling of the possibility that you and Vincent weren't enough. He gave everything up to save you once before, and he would gladly do it again without hesitation. He was just having trouble with the fact that he couldn't pick everything up right where it left off. He felt behind, and he hated to admit that he felt that way both as a sorcerer and as a father.
"Of course you and Vincent give me purpose. I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that for the first time since the accident, I was in control of something. I was good at it. You're right, though. I am happy it means I can spend more time with you and Vincent. I just hate answering to people and following instructions."
You knew that deep down, this wasn't about Wong at all. It was about Stephen feeling out of control. That was the root of a lot of his issues, actually. That didn't mean that it wasn't manifesting in a way that made it seem like it was about Wong, and that is the last thing you wanted. You wanted your son to see his father and his uncle, who helped raise him get along. Their playful jabs at each other were fine. In fact, it would be weird if they weren't making smartass comments to each other, but the line needed to be firmly drawn at anything that might seem like real resentment or anger.
"You know who the first person was to start telling Vincent about his dad? Wong. Months before I could even say your name without crying. Before he was old enough to even really understand anything. Wong would come to the compound and tell him all sorts of stories about his dad. The great sorcerer Doctor Stephen Strange. How you fought side by side. He even offered to let us stay at Kamar-Taj when I told him it was too painful for me to stay here without you. You and I both owe him a lot. That includes respecting him as the Sorcerer Supreme and following the customs at the very least when Vincent is around."
He seemed to pause and think for a moment. He knew Wong was well prepared to be Sorcerer Supreme and was undoubtedly the right choice for it after he had blipped. He also knew that Wong would take care of you and Vincent in his absence. At least that had been his hope. He was pleasantly surprised at the idea of Wong lovingly telling your teeny little baby all about the man who drove him up the wall from the moment he first stepped into the library at Kamar-Taj. He would cut Wong some extra slack for that.
"Yeah. You're right. I'll do better when Vincent is around. I'm not bowing when he isn't there, though."
There was a hint of teasing humor in his eyes, but at the same time, you knew he meant the last part. It seemed like a reasonable deal, though. Being a good role model for Vincent was one thing, but getting Stephen to let go of his stubborn streak would be a whole other can of worms.
"Stephen, the thing about a relationship with you that has most prepared me for being a mom is that it taught me that sometimes I have to pick my battles. I can work with that. Thank you."
Stephen crawled onto the bed and promptly started crawling all over you. Nuzzling into your neck and tickling your sides. Generally trying to be a little obnoxious and make you stop working on your to-do list and give him your undivided attention.
"You love me."
He said it in a light teasing voice that when paired with his other actions was stupidly adorable. You couldn't help but laugh at his antics. Throwing your to-do list to the side and setting your reading glasses on the nightstand to give Stephen the attention he wanted.
"Yes. I do love you very much, Stephen."
His lips quickly captured yours and his arms wrapped around you tightly, pulling you down on the bed with him. Silly pecks slowly deepening into something more sensual. Your body naturally migrated to lay on top of Stephen's. His hands slowly moving down your back to grip the cheeks of your ass.
Your legs straddled him and your hips rolling against him gently as he kneaded the soft flesh. Both of you starting to get lost in each other just like the night before.
"Guess someone didn't get enough last night. Hmm?"
You purred to him in between kisses. You could feel him smile back at you. Gripping your flesh a little tighter.
"Never gonna get enough of you. Besides, we didn't have a chance last night for you to ride me like you know I love."
Your hips wiggled almost on their own at Stephen's declaration. Oh yes, of course you knew he loved it when you were on top. It was the reason three out of four of your bedroom walls had at least one mirror on them. So Stephen could watch you from multiple angles as you used him for your pleasure.
Just as you were starting to fully lose yourself in his kiss, looking forward to another busy night between the sheets from the sounds of things, your cellphone started to ring. Normally, under the current circumstances, you would have chosen to ignore it, but something deep in your gut told you that this call was important.
A look at the caller ID seemed to only intensify that feeling. It was Steve Rogers calling. Captain America never really did get the hang of texting, but if he was calling this late, you knew it was important.
--------------------------------
As you and Vincent entered the park, you immediately caught sight of Steve. What you didn't expect was for Bucky to be standing there talking with him.
You had only met Bucky twice before. The first time was in Wakanda right before the first battle with Thanos. The second time was at Tony's funeral. He looked much more put together now as he stood smiling with his best friend for decades than he did either of those times. Although, you probably did too.
"Uncle Steve!!!"
Nearly as soon as he saw him, Vincent let go of your hand and bolted towards Steve. Steve looked almost as excited to see him. A bright million watt smile on his face and his arms held wide, ready to scoop him up in a bear hug. Spinning around in circles as soon as Vincent launched himself into the Captain's arms.
Even Bucky was smiling and laughing softly watching Steve and Vincent interact. No doubt it was a side of Steve he didn't think he would ever get to see. Steve had told you that back before the war, he and Bucky had talked about wanting families. How they wanted their kids to grow up together, hopefully be best friends just like them. Neither of them ever got the chance, though. At least with Vincent, Steve got to experience some of what he missed out on. Bucky wasn't sure he would ever get even that much.
Once you finally got to where they were standing, Steve gave you a quick hug and a soft kiss on the cheek. Both of you fighting the urge to linger just a little longer in the familiar embrace. You loved Stephen more than words could say, but Steve would always hold a little piece of your heart for bringing you back to life when you felt like a ghost simply going through the motions of living. You would always hold a little piece of his, too.
Steve dutifully introduced you and Vincent to Bucky. He was still quiet and clearly nervous. You made the very conscious decision to hold out and offer your hand to him. To show him that you were not afraid of him, that you saw him as the person he was now. Not as the weapon Hydra had made him to be. Vincent, with the classic innocence of a child, had no need to make an effort. He was a friend of Uncle Steve's, and that's all he needed to know. One he had heard lots of stories about, too.
"You grew up with Uncle Steve, right? Are you that Bucky? You're his bestest friend."
Steve smiled brightly at Vincent's recollection of all the stories he had told him. Bucky seemed genuinely surprised that your son knew who he was and that he knew him as just Bucky, Steve's best friend. No shadow of the Winter Soldier taunting him.
"That's right. We've heard lots about Bucky Barnes. All the trouble you had to get Steve out of."
You chimed in to add a little context to what stories Vincent was talking about. Sure you heard about the trouble they caused together, and about the charms of the handsome young Bucky, but still a good amount of the stories all seemed to coalesce around Bucky saving Steve's behind in one way or another. You knew that was part of what had made Steve so determined to save his best friend from Hydra.
That and the fact that Steve felt Bucky wouldn't have ended up in the military if it hadn't been his big dream all along. Especially after learning that it appeared Bucky might have lied to him and even to his own family about enlisting, and that his Army ID number actually showed he may have been drafted instead. Steve had always wanted to fight, Bucky only wanted to fight to protect Steve. Steve wanted to go to war. Bucky merely got caught in the crosshairs.
"Mom, can I go play on the swings?"
Your son was already practically off and running even before you could give him permission. Steve quickly volunteered Bucky to go push him, somewhat to Bucky’s dismay. Before he could decline, Vincent had grabbed ahold of the bottom of his leather jacket and was leading him towards the playground. A slightly terrified look in his eye, but a shy smile on his lips at your son's exuberance. A trait Steve may have helped encourage.
Once they were a few steps away, Steve started to speak. His voice was soft and sweet, the way he always spoke to you.
"I'm glad you came. I imagine your husband wasn't thrilled about my invitation to meet alone."
"Yeah. Stephen isn't great at sharing. The fact that it's a public park made him feel better, I think. He still wanted to tag along, though. Luckily, Wong called him to Kamar-Taj for something."
Steve chuckled under his breath at the idea of Stephen following you to the park and pouting when he couldn't. He wouldn't have minded Stephen being there, really. He knew that the sorcerer would be able to keep his secret, but it was more personal this way. You knew secrets that even Bucky didn't know. It only made sense that you were one of the only people who knew about his plan. About his intention to go back to Peggy.
"Bruce fixed the return pad, and tomorrow I'm going to put all the infinity stones back from exactly when and where we got them. He said that someone called The Ancient One stressed how important this was."
The mention of The Ancient One snapped your attention away from Bucky and Vincent. You had wondered if she would be the keeper of the time stone. You knew when they were staging the time heist that Stephen wasn't yet a sorcerer during the battle of New York. He was still a practicing surgeon then. You couldn't help but wonder what she was like. Both Stephen and Wong spoke so highly of her. You were suddenly a bit jealous that Steve was going to meet her too.
"And, anyway, I just wanted to see you and Vincent again before I do. I also wanted to officially introduce Bucky to you. So he has another friend. Just in case, you know."
You watched him curiously. You could tell there was something he wasn't telling you. Steve Rogers was shit at lying, and he wasn't very good at not telling the whole truth either. He wouldn't have said that unless he really thought something might go wrong. A glint in his sky blue eyes told you exactly what you needed to know. In fact, he was intending for something to go wrong.
"This almost sounds like a goodbye, Rogers."
"Not goodbye, just see you in a few decades. I told Sam to keep an eye out for Buck, I didn't tell him my plan, but I told you how well they get along. Sam is also talking about moving back to Louisiana for a while to be with his sister and her two boys. So I thought that maybe since you and Vincent were here in New York that maybe you could keep an eye out for him too? He needs a friend or two, and I can't think of anyone better suited. You and Vincent helped me figure out what I really want from life. Maybe you guys will help him figure that out, too."
You both watched silently for a moment as Bucky pushed Vincent on the swings. A soft smile on his lips and a sad expression hidden behind his blue eyes, but you couldn't help noticing he was only using his right arm to push your son. With both hands covered by his black leather gloves, it took you a second to realize why. A pang in your heart at the way he kept his left arm, the vibranium arm, held behind his back. Almost like he was trying to pretend it was restrained. Like he was afraid it had a mind of its own.
"Vincent seems to be taking to him well, and he seems like a good guy. You know Vincent is gonna miss you something terrible, though."
"Bucky is a good guy. Don't let him forget that. Vincent's got his dad now. He doesn't need me anymore."
You turned to Steve and looked directly into his eyes. You needed him to know how much his presence meant to you and Vincent. How having Stephen back could never erase his place in your lives.
"Sure, he's got Stephen back, but that doesn't mean he's going to forget about everything you did for him. For both of us. For five years, you were the closest thing to a dad that he had, and the best person I could have asked to have there for him."
A genuine soft smile formed on his face. The kind of smile that's reserved for people you trust completely. A smile that holds both happy and sad memories just the same.
"Tell Bucky we are there when or if he needs us, and maybe even if he thinks he doesn't need us. The same goes for your geriatric ass too. However this whole thing shakes out. I'll bring you jell-o at 'the home' and you can tell me all about your life with Peggy."
Steve buried his face in his hands as you fell apart, laughing. You had hit the nail on the head without even really trying. Steve knew he wasn't a very good liar, but clearly, he couldn't even slip a missing detail by you.
"God, am I that easy to read? How did you know this was all about her?"
"I know that look, Steve. You have the same expression I walked around with after Scott showed up. The love of your life feels so close again, like you can almost reach out and touch them. You're still here, and yet you're already gone."
Just like that, you had managed to verbalize how he had been feeling since that day on the battlefield. Knowing that they had won and that Thanos had been defeated. You and Vincent had Stephen back. A part of his soul packed up and headed back in time right then and there. He just hadn't known how to describe it until he heard you say it.
"Just do me a favor and don't tell anyone. You and Bucky are the only ones who know about this. Like I said, I didn't tell Sam."
You held up your hand in a Scout's honor sign as you looked at him with your best serious face. This elicited another chuckle from Steve. He had to admit he was going to miss you something terrible. That was part of why he made the decision he did. You deserved to live without the nagging fear of having Steve pinning after you. A part of him always would be if he stayed.
"You're gonna give Sam the shield, aren't you?"
You waited and watched from the corner of your eye. Steve seemed to hem and haw back and forth for a minute. Trying to pick his words carefully. In an ideal world, he would have loved to pass the shield to Bucky, but he knew that Bucky needed to focus on healing and was in no position to have that kind of pressure levied on him. He was also fresh off a presidential pardon with court mandated therapy to keep him busy. Besides, you already knew that in his heart, he knew Sam was the right choice.
"I want to, yeah. I'm not the symbol this world needs now. I'm a symbol of a bygone era. A fossil, as Nat used to say. The world may need Captain America, but they don't need me. They need someone who can stand for who we could be, not just who we were. That's Sam. I don't know if he'll take it, but he deserves it. He's a good man."
"I don't know if he'll agree, and I don't know him that well, but I think from what you've told me, Sam is the perfect choice."
By now, Vincent and Bucky had started walking back towards the two of you. Coming to get Steve to come play, too. You happily found a bench and watched the three of them run around together for another hour or so. The energy level of a five year old can apparently only be matched by that of two super soldiers.
At some point, Stephen showed up and joined you on the bench. Putting his arm around you when the sun started to set and the breeze started to blow. Laughing as he watched Vincent play and sitting in content silence for the longest time. Eventually, you let your head lean on his shoulder. Just watching the three of them was making you tired.
"What did he want to talk to you about?"
"I can't tell you, but you'll know very soon. It'll make sense. Just gotta trust me in the meantime."
You waited to see what he would say. Listening for any subtle form of protest. He took one of your hands in his and brought it to his lips. Leaving a soft kiss there before letting your interlocked hands drop into his lap. A slightly mischievous but genuine smile on his lips as he responded.
"I will always trust you, my love. With everything."

Mamma Masterlist
Two Years Later
December 2022
"Eleanor Mae!" I find myself calling out, her chubby little legs carrying her faster than I expected through the exiting crowd of Rogers Arena. "Ellie!" I call again, my nerves spiking when her dark mop of hair disappears from my vision.
"Mom! Incoming!" Jack Hughes' calls to his mother, the Hughes family having flown in on mutual breaks to support Quinn, getting to watch his team win.
What Ellen hadn't known, was what Jack was referring to until a child crashed into her legs, Jim placing a hand on his wife's back to stable her.
"Oh! Well aren't you adorable," The mother coos, getting down onto her knees to be at the child's height as the little one looks over the boys, her dark hair falling in front of her familiar green eyes. "What's your name sweetie?"
"Eleanor Mae! Ellie!" A woman's voice can be heard, a panic to it that the Hughes parents recognize themselves. A panic you only have over a child.
"Did you run away from your mommy?" Ellen asks, the girl giggling with a nod. "What's your name?" She tries once more, now that the girl seems focused enough to respond.
"Ellie."
"I'll flag down the mother," Luke offers, being the tallest of the family while he waves in the direction of the woman's still panicked voice.
"How old are you Ellie?"
"Almost 2!"
"Eleanor, thank God," I want to cry, seeing her little body thanks to the waving hand, pulling her into my arms, my head ducked into her Hughes jersey.
The head of blonde in front of them is ever familiar, just as the girls eyes were, but no one had any connections until they saw the back of the little girls jersey.
Hughes 43.
Quinn, that's who's eyes they were reminded of.
"Holy shit," A voice, scarily familiar to my ears, mumbles from above me, my arms scooping Ellie up as I move to thank the people who found her.
Only to meet with the faces of my worst nightmare.
"Ruthie?" Luke is the one the question, eyes showing all the hurt that my heart feels.
"Hi Moose," I greet meekly, looking over the family. Jim and Ellen somehow managed to never age a day, while the boys seem like 2 years were really 10. Turning to Jack, I can't help but smile. "I saw you got drafted to the Devils, I'm really proud of you."
"Thanks Rue," He thanks, smiling himself, before his eyes move to Ellie, her babbles catching his attention. "And who is this cutie?" He questions, coming up and taking her hand, giving it a kiss and making her giggle.
"Uh," How do I tell Quinn's family that this is their niece and granddaughter? "This is Eleanor, although I really just call her Ellie."
"Hi Ellie," Luke is the one to greet, coming up to Jack and I with a little wave. "She said she was almost two?"
Of course she did. "I- I'm not exactly sure how to tell you all this," I explain quietly. Not noticing a brunette Canucks player approaching behind me, only thinking he is approaching his family and a fan. "Eleanor is my daughter, but she is also Quinn's. I found out I was pregnant the day he broke up with me," I explain. "I uh, based her name off of yours Ellen."
She sobs. The woman who I grew up having as a rock in my life starts sobbing, her arms being thrown around Ellie and myself. "I knew it as soon as I saw her."
"You knew she was pregnant?" Quinn's voice rings from behind me, making my entire body tense. He rounds me now, standing by his brothers as he gets a look of my daughter. Our daughter. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I had the pink onesie and the sonogram photos in my pocket to tell you when I walked out your door for the last time," is all I can think to answer. "I had a whole plan in my head, how I was going to tell you, how it was going to be a lot to handle, especially with hockey and school. And then you broke up with me."
"I broke up with you to make things less complicated!" His voice raises, making Ellie cover her ears with her hands.
"Quinn," I can't help but whisper. "Nothings more complicated than finishing college with a baby, I-"
"Momma," Ellie interrupts my rambling, "Is daddy?" She asks, pointing at Quinn, the tense of his shoulders releasing as he looks over her.
His hair, his eyes, my face.
"She knows me?"
"I wanted nothing more than you to be in her life. To be in our lives," I answer him, turning to my girl. "Yes baby, this is daddy."
"And I'm Uncle Jack!" Jack exclaims, clearly ignoring the magnitude of this entire conversation, something Jim seems to notice as he reaches for his middle child's shoulder, although Quinn shakes his head, watching with the smallest smile.
"Hey, you can't introduce yourself first, you'll be her favorite just based on that, and I need to be her favorite!" Luke complains, shoving up to where Ellie has hidden her head in the crook of my neck, her cheeks bright pink. "I'm Uncle Luke, and I'll be your favorite."
"I like Daddy," Is her response, still not peaking out, but based on Quinn's smile, he definitely heard her.
"Is that so?" Quinn asks, handing his equipment to father, looking hesitantly to me, silently asking if he can take her from my hip. I nod, him reaching over and her sliding into his arms without a second thought.
"She's always loved her Daddy," I explain, smiling at the interaction I've been waiting to see since I found out we'd be having a little us. "I've told her all about you all since she was little, stories of the lake house, school, Q's draft," I list, Ellen moving around the boys and wrapping me in a side hug.
"I can't wait to learn who she is," She mumbles, just to me.
"You said you knew... how?"
But she just gives me a mother's smile, all knowing. "I just knew. Just like I knew that you two would find your ways back to each other."

Aftercare + Steve
BUT cute subby Steve 🥺
Hi Nonnie 😌❤️ (This is actually the first time me writing for subby Steve(?)
This is as sub of a Steve as I can make him :3
TLC
Steve Rogers x You
Warning: Aftercare, implied!sub Steve, implied!Mommy/Babyboy dynamic, fluff
Summary: You and Steve after an intense session.
A/N: My fourth entry to the bingo challenge hosted by @the-slumberparty.
"Hey, baby, I'm so glad you went through this." You cradle his head, allowing him to lie on your arm and you can brush his beautiful blonde hair to the back of his head.
His chest heaves up and down, breathing through his lips instead of his nose. His eyes shut tight, and his forehead sweaty, on which you carefully wipe the beady sweat drops onto the back of your hand.
"Yeah-Yeah." Still panting, he opens his eyes, giving out a boy-ish grin, "am I too heavy on your arm?" He lifts his neck to look back at your arm under his head, looking up at you apologetically, scooting closer to the pillow on the side of his head instead of your arm, "I'm too heavy on your arm, aren't I?"
"No. No. No way." You lean over and peck his lips, soothing his hair, "You want anything? Water? Some snack? Maybe watch a silly rom-com?"
"Rom-com sounds nice. And a candy bar. God, now I feel like I have the stomach for a three-course meal." Steve groans, digging the heel of his palms into his belly, rolling to the side, and blinking his puppy eyes to you.
You cannot stand his adorableness, not one second.
You think for a moment before replying, "How about you shower and set up the movie and I'll make us some teriyaki chicken and potato salad? It should take 20 minutes tops."
"You're gonna put itty bitty crispy bacon in there too?"
You chuckle as you get up and head to the kitchen, "yes, itty bitty bacon. But that's going to take five more minutes."
"Can it be any faster?" Steve pouts when he hears you say "five more minutes", propping his upper body from the bed, "I'm starving. Like, I'm going to consume myself if I don't get any teriyaki chicken or that egg-potato-bacon salad in 20 minutes. These-" He gestures at his muscles, "aren't going to remain without proteins."
"Be patient." You throw him a warning glare, "Shower. And then movie. But you can help me speed up if you help take care of the chicken."
"Okay, ma'am." He winks, getting up from the bed as well, "Whatever you say."
You turn on the stoves. Memory of his last attempt of helping you in the kitchen resurface, "And only flip them when I tell you to! Last time you poked the carrots too much, they turned to mush-go shower."
"On a complete irrelevant note, can you be the spoon when we watch the movie too?" He pops his head from the bathroom and asks, shampoo foam on his head and toothpaste on his lips, while wiping the water from his eyebrows.
"GO SHOWER -"
Steve knows better than to let you repeat that again, quickly ducking his head back into the bathroom before you are able to shove him back in.
Only a few minutes fly by before he emerge from the bathroom with a towel around his waist and another towel on top of his head.
He hugs you from behind, gently placing a small kiss to your shoulder. Inhaling the aroma of food, he nuzzles your neck with the tip of his nose, muttering, "Thank you. You're the best."
"You should give me a mug with that line."
"This Christmas. I'mma buy you a 'you're the best mommy' mug and everybody else will go guessing since when you had a mystery child."

Series Masterlist ~ Main Masterlist
All was calm in the Rogers household.
Belle was in the completed nursey, just a few weeks away from her due date and the nesting stage of her pregnancy, fluttering back and forth with all of the clothes gifted to them from their friends. She enjoyed the quiet, with Steve in his office and Bucky and Ava out on a date. She stared at the onesies that she received, a blue one that said Prince and a pink one that said Princess. She sighed happily before folding them and setting them aside.
“A reason those are separate?” She turned to see Steve leaning in the doorway.
“For my maternity bag. It’s what they are wearing when we bring them home.” She smiled up at her husband. “Always have a plan, Captain.”
Steve snorted. He placed his arms on Belle’s shoulders and duck down to be eye level with her. “Think you are cute, Mrs. Rogers?”
“I know I am, Mr. Rogers,” she smirked at him before kissing the tip of his nose.
He leaned more to press a kiss to her lips and took in the room. “It’s looking good in here.” He got behind Belle and wrapped his arms around her, leaving his hand on her belly.
Belle leaned into his warmth. “It is. I just wish we had a picture or something over the changing table. I could have sworn that I picked something out, but I can’t remember.”
“About that.” Steve went back to the door and came back with a large flat package. He left it on the changing table. “I made something for the twins.”
“Stevie, what do you mean?”
“Well, I know how much music makes your feel better. A way to get all your extra emotions out, right? Well, before, I used to draw or paint or sketch. And I thought, maybe I could make something that would show off how happy I am for our babies.” He chewed his lip nervously as Belle approached the bench.
Two painting were wrapped. It was a picture painting in watercolor, a bear looking out at the moon with his night cap on the other with the sun, the bear and a backpack. Belle’s lower lip wobbled. “Stevie…”
“Do you like them love? I know they are kinda simple…” he was cut off when Belle pulled him down with a kiss. When they pulled apart, Steve smiled. “I guess you do like them.”
“I love them amore mio. Can you hand them up?”
“Sure. Go sit and tell me if their straight.” Steve got a hammer and set up to hang them over the changing table. Belle smiled as she sat in one of the rocking chairs and watched her man go to work.
“You know, we haven’t really talked names amore.”
“Did you have any in mind?” Steve mumbled with the nails in his mouth as he measures where to place the nails.
“I was thinking for our son, just the middle name, we could name him after my dad.” She chewed her lip, waiting for his reaction.
“Phil? Or Agent, as Tony liked to call him?” Steve smiled down at his wife. “Sweet Pea, I think that’s perfect. Phillip. I like it.”
“Yea? Do you have any suggestions? Like your dad’s name maybe?”
Steve crinkled his nose. “Joseph Phillip? No, that doesn’t fit. I like the initials though. JP.” He stopped for a second. “James. James Phillip.”
Belle smiled. “I love it. James Phillip Rogers. A good strong name for our boy.”
Steve nailed in the first one and hung the moon, literally. He got down and pressed a kiss on top of her head. “I think it’s perfect. Now how about our princess?” He moved to hang the sun.
“I’m not sure. She is like a ray of perfect sunshine. A light after all the darkness.”
“Very poetic love. Maybe an Italian name for her?”
“Well, the Italian word for light is luce. But that sounds wrong.”
“How about Lucy?” Steve stepped back to grab the sun painting.
“Lucy.” Belle tested the name. “I like that. Lucy. Ok princess,” she patted her belly. “Lucy. Lucy what?”
They bounced around names, nothing sounding correct. They were interrupted when Steve’s phone went off with a message. He looked at his phone and snorted. “Morgan wants to know when her cousins can play with her.”
“Aww, she’s excited just like the rest of the family.” Belle always referred to the other Avengers as family, never as the Avengers.
“I know, Tony was even saying that…”
“That’s it,” Belle interrupted. “Toni.”
“What?”
“Lucy Antonia.” Belle softly smiles. “If it wasn’t for Tony, we may have never met.”
“Sweet pea, I would have found you one way or another. But,” he sighed, “I do love it. Jamie and Lucy.”
“Jamie and Lucy. Hey babies. Our prince James and our princess Lucy.”
Steve put the last picture up and stepped back and sat on the matching rocking chair. He took Belle’s hand. “I can’t wait to meet them.”
They sat for a few minutes before Belle got up gently. “I’m going to make Bucky a cake.”
“Chocolate is his favorite. You want some help?”
“Don’t you have to work?”
Steve shrugged. “I’ve started paternity leave since the doc said you could go into labor at any time. I know that Ava and Clint would get you to the hospital, but I just want to be here.”
“Oh Steve, thank you. I wouldn’t want you to miss anything. C’mon, cake time.”
As the cake slid out of the oven, the door opened with Bucky and Ava holding hands as they entered. Bucky sniffed the air and smiled. “Ava, baby, are you in for a treat.” He pulled her towards the kitchen while she giggled. “Belle, my heart, why didn’t you marry me?”
“I am right here jerk”, Steve growled.
“But she made cake. Chocolate cake at that, my favorite. This proves she loves me more.”
Ava walked over to Belle as the guys continued to argue. “Do they always do that?”
“Since the day I first cooked for them. The way to Bucky’s heart is his stomach.”
“Noted. I make a mean chicken parmigiana.”
“Keep that in your back pocket. How was your date?”
“Oh,” Ava blushed. “Wonderful. He took me to the aquarium in Central Park. It is so beautiful with the underwater tanks. So blue. He kissed me.”
“Well, well. He does have moves.” Belle giggled and then gasped as one of the babies kicked.
“May I?”
“Sure, right here,” she guided Ava’s hand to where her son was kicking. “He’s right here.”
“Wow, that’s amazing.” Ava smiled as she felt the baby kick. “Are you nervous?”
“For the birth, absolutely. For parenthood, no. Not really. With the right partner, you feel like you can take on the world.”
Later that night, Belle wakes up, uncomfortable and heads to her office. She sits at her piano, hoping to sing to her babies and calm them to allow her to sleep.
One look at you My whole life falls in line I prayed for you Before I called you mine
Oh, I can't believe it's true sometimes Oh, I can't believe it's true
I get to love you It's the best thing that I'll ever do I get to love you It's a promise I'm making to you Whatever may come your heart I will choose Forever I'm yours, forever I do I get to love you I get to love you
The way you love It changes who I am I am undone I thank God once again
She looks up and sees Steve, leaning against the doorway. She smiles and nods to the bench, inviting him to sit with her. He strides over and sits as she continues to sing.
Oh, I can't believe it's true sometimes Oh, I can't believe it's true
I get to love you It's the best thing that I'll ever do I get to love you It's a promise I'm making to you Whatever may come your heart I will choose Forever I'm yours, forever I do
I get to love you I get to love you I get to love you I get to love you
And they say love is a journey I promise that I'll never leave When it's too heavy to carry Remember this moment with me
I get to love you I get to love you I get to love you
As she finishes, Steve leans over and kisses her shoulder. “You know I’m the lucky one, right?”
“Now I know you are wrong, sir. I’m most definitely the luckiest one.”
Steve smiles and leans over to place a sweet kiss on his wife’s lips. She smiles into it, loving the softness of his beard on her skin. She cups his cheek and pulls him in as close as she can with her big belly. She feels a twinge and gasps. “Baby?”
“I…umm… I think I just had a contraction.” Belle looked worried at her husband.
“Ok, let’s just time it ok? The doctor said this might happen because its twins. You are at 34 weeks. They will be ok.”
“Stevie…” her eyes begin to fill.
“Oh, baby don’t cry ok? Everything is going to be ok.” He held her hand. “C’mon let’s get you to bed to get you comfy.”
Steve was meticulous in keeping time of her contractions. A couple of hours later, Belle went to use the rest room when she felt wetness run down her leg. “Steve?”
“Ok, you’re ok. Let’s get you cleaned up and then to Lennox Hill.” Steve went to grab new clothes for Belle and helped her change. He grabbed the maternity bag and called Bucky. “It’s time.”
“I’m on my way.”
Steve helped Belle to the elevator as Bucky came barreling out. “Are you ok?”
“I’m fine I just…” she grimaced as another contraction took over. “I just want to get to the hospital.”
“Alright, alright.” Bucky grabbed the bag as Steve swept her into his arms. They made it to the car and into the night.
Twelve hours later and Belle’s labor stalled. When they had come into the hospital, she had been 3 centimeters dilated. Now she was only 6 and the doctors were concerned. Her head doctor, Theresa Lee had walked into her room with a look that Steve could just not read. “Mr. Rogers, Mrs. Rogers, we think it’s time to consider a caesarian.”
“No, please, I can do this.”
“Mrs. Rogers, please? We’ve given you Pitocin to help the labor progress forward but it’s becoming dangerous to leave the babies in for so long after your water has broken. This is for the benefit of your children.”
“Please sweet pea, its time,” Steve said with a kiss to her forehead. “This doesn’t mean you are weak, love. Your body is tired, and we need to think of Jamie and Lucy.”
“Don’t leave me, Stevie, promise?”
“I promise love. I’ll be right here. I can be right?” He looked at Dr. Lee.
“Of course. We’ll get you scrubs as we prep Mrs. Rogers for surgery.” A nurse handed off some scrubs and Steve looked back. “I will be right back, sweet pea.”
She nodded as the nurses bustled around and the anesthesiologist adjusted her epidural. Steve came back and took her hand. “We ready?” The doctor asked. “Ok, let’s go.”
The gurney moved and they walked to the operating room. “Steve?”
“Yes, my love?”
“I want the babies to go to a good public school.”
Steve looked down at her concerned. “Isabella…”
“No, listen. I want them to go to a good public school and have Bucky and Clint watch over them. Godfathers watching their god kids is good. And I want MJ and Hope to be their godmothers. You can decide who belongs to whom.”
“Belle, stop please.”
“Remember that Lucy is going to be a young lady so respect her boundaries but don’t shut her out. Let her spread her wings, ok?”
“Belle, why are you saying these things?”
“Because if something happens, you need to know, ok?”
“Nothing is going to happen,” he told her sternly.
“You don’t know that Stevie.” They pulled into the operating room, and they set up the curtain over her chest. Belle could sense them around her but felt nothing. “I need you to promise me.”
“I don’t need to promise because you and our babies will be fine.”
He watched as a tear slid down her face. “Please?”
Steve’s heart clenched. He could read the fear in her eyes, and he just wanted to take it all away. He sighed and closed his eyes for a moment before he said, “I promise love. I promise that I’ll take good care of our family. But you need to fight and stay strong.”
“I’m scared Stevie.”
“I am too. But they do this every day.” He kissed her hand. “I love you.”
“Ready?” Dr Lee peered over. Belle didn’t stop looking at Steve and she nodded. “Ok let’s begin.”
Belle could feel pressure around her belly, and she closed her eyes tight. “Ok, and baby A is out,” Dr. Lee announced as she held up a baby. “Congratulations, it’s a boy.”
“Jamie,” she gasped as she began to cry. Their son was here. Steve felt his own tears slide as he looked over to see him being cleaned up as he cried. “He’s beautiful love. He’s here.”
Belle felt more pressure and a second later. “It’s a girl.”
“Lucy.” Belle gasped. “My babies.”
Steve tracked his daughter to the second incubator as little Lucy cried for her mother. The nurse cleaned her up and wrapped her with a pink cap, her brother in blue and put them together in one. It was almost instantaneous that they felt each other and stopped. “They’re here. Belle, they are amazing.” Steve watched them for another moment. “Can she see them?”
“Of course.”
A pair of nurses brought the twins over so Belle could see. “Look Belle, you did it. You made them.” Steve looked back at his wife to see her pale and her eyes closed. “Belle? Belle? Isabella, wake up!”
“She’s losing blood! Get him out of here!”
“No! Belle, please! Wake up!” Steve began to fight the nurses as they pushed him out. “No! Belle! Please!”
“BELLE!”
A/N: I’d say I’m sorry but I’m not.

As promised this is the last one for the @frillsand challenge again as mentioned before I'm mostly using it as an excuse to draw old ocs because IT'S BEEN SO LONG MAN 😭 I might in my own time redraw classic Finley 🤔
I had fun drawing these goobers together LIKE FINELY MY BOI MY BABY BOI I- 😭💕✨🥺 honestly it physically pains me knowing in the au my child is in someone looked at this boi and attacked him
This is exactly why Philip doesn't even argue with Wally's point about humans he seen the nasty side of his own kind as well and even he is like
"wh- no man I AGREE with you we're fucking horrible- like-" bro then casually holds Finley like he's Simba"LOOK AT HIM- WHAT DO YOU MEAN PEOPLE LOOK AT THIS FACE AND HARM HIM LIKE-" and Finley lil bro got 0 clue what his father/older bro figure be yapping about XD
Another one is that when Philip looks through the recordings (because I feel like he kinda has a perfectionist issue when it comes to filming he trys his best to keep quiet about his perfectionism to not stunt more of the production of the show,I feel like he even goes as far to show Wally and his friends the recordings to get there opinions on it) he lets Finley sit down on his lap and watch it with him most of the time Finley feels so safe that he falls asleep so he doesn't really see the full recordings until it's fleshed out more it's honestly an adorable sight really.
I like to think when alone the two likes to sing alot of mr. Rogers songs there favorite being won't you be my neighbor they don't realize that people secretly watch them sing together because when they sing it's the definition of a father and son spending time together and it shows in there voices as well Finley's giggles always filled a room although most folks get jumpscared by even hearing Philip singing because people didn't actually think he can talk- even when Philip ask people basic questions there like "AYO YOU CAN TALK??" Philip keeps forgetting that he actually doesn't talk much to people so when he dose people get jumpscared because they actually never heard his voice before he's unsure if he should be annoyed or amused by that fact-
I imagine that in work Philip and Finley are quite two peas in a pod whenever one gose the other follows like a mama and baby duck even when Finley finally has his own dressing room he always wants Philip to be there because he makes him feel less scared and safe Philip dreads the day when the time comes to take him he doesn't know what will or what would become of Finley if something were to happen to him he's normally quiet about his fears although working together with his son/lil brother figure that thought started to bubble up more he should use this opportunity as a way to spend more time with Finley and he dose although he's unsure if that would be enough for time itself.
Finley as mentioned before is genuinely a sweet kid so even if there was any human workers that are mean to him he somehow handled it will such grace and elegancy or at least that's what others say about him Truth is kid is way to sweet and trusting- most of the time Philip has to be the one to be angry for him due to how grown ass humans treat Finley, normally Philip would plumbel someone if they hurt/insult his boy although Finley would normally prevent that- Finley still doesn't understand why Philip feels the need to be angry for him yet at the same time he's still young persay to know the full situation at hand but neither none or less Finley still cares for Philip all the same.
How Philip and Finley interact with the cast is quite an interesting one
Finley is very open and social with his fellow coworkers and actors very happy to meet them yet at the same time shy sense he watches there show so to be part of it feels surreal to him he always get so happy yet shy talking to Wally the most so normally he grabs Philip to help give him the confidence,he ADORES everyone and everything always bringing light to a room and accidentally giving poppy mini heart attacks because this child is VERY HYPER and sometimes get himself in quite dangerous predicaments basically-
Philip: FINLEY?!
Finley:*is stuck on the ceiling* hai :]
Philip: WHAT TH- HOW DID YOU GET UP THERE?!
Sometimes I feel like due to how mean some humans can be they definitely hook Finley up in high places because they find it amusing how chill he is about it-
Another thing is Finley is notorious for his horrible sleeping spots, most of the time it's floors sense he's so used to sleeping on floors everyone and I mean EVERYONE including Philip most of the time became victim to Finley's unintentional trip trap this is actually the main reason why Philip keeps Finley with him when he rewatches the video recordings so no one else have to become victims to that again-
Finley loves to draw alot so when everyone is on brake and likes to spend his time watching Philip reviewing his recordings,I feel like Finley gets the papers and colored pencils from the prop/art department finely is actually really careful when using there supplies but the kid trys to get the more faulty art supplies so he doesn't have to use the ones there actually using he's very respectful about other people's property and is very well mannered he loves making gifts for everyones even tords anyone who's mean to him.
Now with Philip he's actually very comfortable talking with the actors very chatty the most with em
and with Wally he's on more of a 50/50 he doesn't argue about Wally's opinions about humans and he doesn't even bother wanting to change that although ironically I feel like not bothering somehow worked- Philip is pretty straightforward about things but also very kind dispite his grumpy exterear so even though Wally is in a bad mood Philip can't help but wounder why, when time allows it he would try to strike up a convo what gotten Wally so pissed this time
And somehow convinced Wally to give him the failed coffee orders- two reasons is that one he actually doesn't like food waste as said before on Philip's Post so Philip managed to convince Wally to just hand it to him honestly Philip actually finds it pretty amusing how people keep getting caffeine and decaf mixed up because how is that even possible? Is the workplace really that loud? His mind has been subconsciously been blocking noises due to his own thoughts or having to focus on Finley most of the time or he's extremely hyper focused so he doesn't even know fully on how noisy it can be at times and second reason he needs caffeine- that's it bro just really wanted the caffeine but couldn't afford it- sure he spends money on food and stuff but he doesn't really spend any treats for himself that mostly gose to Finley.
