i just saw your mhin cosplay and i really love how you put the whole thing together!! can i ask what like... the specific term is for the neck harness they wear? it's really difficult to hunt down when looking for cosplay bits online 😭 unless u made it urself which would be super cool!!

omg i’m so sorry i just saw this 😭 i actually ended up making their neck harness thing! if you’re able to sew, the way i made it was i used plastic wrap to wrap around my neck, taped it to make it a “shell”, and then traced out the shapes i wanted onto that! very similar to the methods people use to make boot covers if you’re looking for a similar tutorial.

if you’re looking online i would search for things along the lines of “neck armor collar” or “neck corset collar” (i will say some of the search results for the second one especially may start to go into nsfw/bdsm territory as a general heads up if you decide to search those terms but i personally didn’t get any super explicit images when searching them). hope that helps and godspeed on your cosplay!! feel free to message me if you have any other questions i’ll try to keep an eye on my inbox

The quiet lore and worldbuilding of Fullmetal Alchemist

I read the entire manga & it's never infodumped why prosthetics are so commonplace. We learn that Amestris is a martial country always at war. We know that war creates cripples. We know that war creates innovation. If Fullmetal Alchemist was a western work of fiction, a character woulda flat out stated, "Amestris heavily invested in prosthetics cuz it was more cost-effective than training new soldiers to replace all the ones who lost limbs fighting." The writer simply lets us draw that conclusion from all the details she set before us. In our world, soldiers who lose limbs get a cheap replacement and discharged. In Amestris, they give you a new limb almost as good as the old one, a little physical therapy, then send you back into the fray to fight some more.

uhhhhh. I was figurign out some stuff for Al's outfit and I settled with a partially buttoned shirt over a black tanktop <3 AND. I stumbled upon a better quality version of one of the panels with Ed's armor AND IT HAS COLORS. turns out the things on his chest ARE tassels, AND his fingers are actually mostly connected! which is fun. (WRITHES AROUND ON THE FLOOR)

besides that. I'm still figuring out stuff for the Au. which is fun. One of the major things I'm trying to pin down the!! Damn names! Right now I got. Half Metal alchemist. for obvious reasons. but idk I just don't like it that much; it still has the potential for mixing up Ed and Al. because. yeah. shrugs. second option is Tongued Alchemist. which is ironic as fuck. it also keeps up with Ed and Al mixed up. Because Ed doesn't fucking shut up. other one is the Gold Alchemist but like Ed doesn't really have any reason to be the gold alchemist so. not much reasoning to mix them up. sighs. if you have any suggestions I am very open to listening <3
