Fun fact: Despite not having my first song out yet (I’m very close!), I actually only started writing Viking/medieval themed rock and metal after I found out about my ancestors being vikings. I thought it was so cool, and it really made me feel like I had found a part of myself I was missing—and I was! Proud to be a descendant of those powerful people.

Okay, right, let’s actually do this. I’m actually doing this. I’m doing a free writing thingy. That’s the plan. I want to start making a journal/free writing entry here every day (or as many days as I can - I struggle with consistency with this kind of thing). For those of you who don’t know me I’m Gen. I’m a 26 year old rock musician. My pronouns are she/they. I subsist on a diet of mostly sriracha and peanut butter. 

I used to be a writer as well. I studied creative writing at uni and even won an award for my poetry when I graduated but since forming my band my whole world has revolved around music. Not that that’s a bad thing but since I’m going to be here on this website anyway I thought focusing on a more intimate/personal writing style of content could be good?????? I don’t know. 

It’ll be good practice for me anyway. I’m finally resting after working myself to the point of burn out for most of the year (and by resting I mean only working for an hour or so a day oop). I’ve been taking time to meditate and do restorative yoga a couple of times a day; I’m working on a night time routine. I think this could be a good part of that. A chance to off load all of my thoughts just before I meditate and sleep. But yeah, that’ll do for now. Hopefully they’ll get more interesting as I go along but I wanted to set the scene.
