it was so brilliantly metatextual for Elita to punch Shockwave in the face and for him to then recognize her authority (due to the High Guard's trauma-learned might makes right ethos) in Transformers One. still not over what a letter of recognition that was to Elita and in a way, completely not related to the film's actual plot, to the conflict between (Decepticon) misogyny and transformer gals that's flared on and off for decades since 1985 (really, 1984, if you count plot dynamics in the first draft of TFTM between Arcee and Wheeljack and other things we may not be aware of from the og script).

My stepfather, he wrote these space books … and I read one of ’em: The Planet Wyh, with the “H” at the end. And it was about this … android, I guess you call it, who … his master died, and he wandered the universe alone for two million years. And all he could say was, “I can help” ... but he couldn’t, or at least, he never did. But he kept on saying it: “I can help.” And he kept on failing. Which is, if I had to define it, the way I feel most days.
