Planetary Exploration Journal: Vesper
Tumblr media
Name: Vesper (VEH-spur, with the emphasis on the first syllable "veh")
Description: Vesper is a planet located in the Arcturus System. The planet is a rocky, barren world with a harsh, unforgiving environment that makes it almost impossible for most forms of life to survive, but is relatively the same size as Earth.
Geography: Vesper's landscape is an extremely harsh one, with scorching hot days and freezing cold nights that can last for weeks at a time. This is due to its close proximity to its sun, which is much larger and hotter than the sun in our own solar system. It's terrain is mostly rocky, consisting of mostly jagged peaks or gravel deserts with most water found in underground caves.
Civilization: Despite its inhospitable conditions, Vesper does support a small amount of life, primarily in the form of hardy microorganisms that can survive in the planet's rocky soil and underground water sources. These microorganisms are believed to be the remnants of ancient life forms that once thrived on Vesper before it became a barren wasteland.
Unique Features: One of the most unique features of Vesper is its network of underground tunnels and caverns, which were created by volcanic activity and erosion over millions of years. These tunnels are vast and complex, and some have been known to stretch for hundreds of kilometers. Many of these tunnels are still unexplored, and some are believed to hold ancient artifacts and technology left behind by a long-dead civilization.
Challenges: Due to its remote location and harsh environment, Vesper has never been colonized or fully explored by any known space-faring civilization. However, there are rumors of a few brave explorers and treasure hunters who have attempted to brave the planet's dangers in search of its hidden secrets.
List of Currently Known Illnesses and Diseases;
Vesperian Fever (Vesperian febricosis, VF): This is a viral disease that is transmitted through exposure to the planet's unique soil and airborne particles. Symptoms include fever, cough, fatigue, and respiratory distress.
Vesperian Malaria (Vesperian anophelesis, VA): This is a parasitic infection transmitted by the bite of Vesperian mosquitos. Symptoms include fever, chills, headache, and muscle pain.
Vesperian Encephalitis (Vesperian arbovirus encephalitis, VAE): This is a viral infection transmitted by the bite of infected Vesperian insects. Symptoms include headache, fever, confusion, and in severe cases, coma and death.
Vesperian Poisoning (Vesperian phytotoxicosis, VP): This is caused by ingestion of toxic plants on Vesper, leading to a range of symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and weakness.
Vesperian Radiation Sickness (Vesperian radiation toxicity, VRT): Due to the planet's harsh environment, prolonged exposure to Vesper's radiation can cause radiation sickness, with symptoms including fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and skin burns.
Overall Conclusion;
Vesper is a fascinating planet with unique geological features, however with its harsh environments and even harsher climate, the planet would be difficult near impossible to colonize or establish a permanent living presence.

Planetary Exploration Journal: Ophelia
Tumblr media
Name: Ophelia (oh-Fee-lee-uh, with the stress on the second syllable "fee")
Description: Ophelia is a planet located in the Arcturus System. The planet is a rocky, terrestrial planet with a diameter of approximately 9,000 kilometers, making it slightly smaller than Earth. It has a dense atmosphere of carbon dioxide and a surface covered in vast oceans of liquid methane. The planet has one particularly small moon.
Geography: Ophelia's surface is characterized by a diverse array of landscapes, including vast deserts, rocky canyons, and towering mountains. The planet also has large polar ice caps, as well as numerous lakes and rivers. Ophelia's geography is heavily influenced by its unique climate, which is a result of its distance from Arcturus and its position in the Arcturus System.
Civilization: Ophelia is home to a highly intelligent civilization of humanoid beings known as the Ophie. They are a slightly paranoid and tight-knit society that takes comfort in making smaller community packs that work and live closely together. The Ophie have a strong cultural tradition of resourcefulness, cooperation, and self-sufficiency. Their society may be structured around sustainability, with a focus on preserving resources for future generations.
Unique Features: Ophelia's dense atmosphere makes for strange weather patterns, such as slow winds. The planet's rocky terrain and lack of large bodies of drinkable water make agriculture a significant challenge. Ophelia also has unique mineral resources and geological formations that make it a valuable location, leading to competition for resources and strategic positioning of settlements or outposts.
Challenges: Ophelia's dense atmosphere of carbon dioxide makes it difficult for humans to breathe without specialized equipment. The lack of drinkable water also makes prolonged stay on Ophelia's surface complicated for most living individuals.
List of Currently Known Illnesses and Diseases;
Crustacean Plague (Crustaplaga ophelian, CO): A viral infection that can be contracted from the native crustacean species of Ophelia. The virus attacks the respiratory system, causing coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. In severe cases, it can lead to pneumonia or even respiratory failure.
Ocean Mite Fever (Oceamitidae feveria, OF): A bacterial infection that is transmitted by the small, spider-like creatures that inhabit Ophelia's volcanic regions. Symptoms include fever, joint pain, and a distinctive rash that spreads over the body.
Gold Dust Pneumonia (Aurumdustus pneumoniae, AP): A respiratory illness caused by the inhalation of fine particles of red dust that are kicked up by Ophelia's frequent dust storms. Symptoms include coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath.
Thornbush Rash (Spinasilvae dermatitis, SD): An allergic reaction to the spiky, thorn-covered bushes that grow in abundance on Ophelia's rocky terrain. The rash is characterized by intense itching, swelling, and redness of the skin.
Void Flu (Vacuusinfluenza ophelia, VO): A highly contagious viral infection that is transmitted through the air or by contact with contaminated surfaces. It causes fever, chills, fatigue, and muscle aches, and can lead to complications such as pneumonia or dehydration.
Overall Conclusion;
Ophelia is a challenging but intriguing planet with a unique set of geological and climatic features. Its diverse landscapes and potential for scientific discovery make it a valuable target for space exploration and research. However, the planet's harsh environment and lack of resources also make it difficult to colonize or establish a permanent human presence.

Me, self respecting: I would never be a groupie for some guy in a band I've never met, girls really throw themselves at rockstars and cry and scream to get to meet them? Have posters of them all over their room? How do you fall that in love with some guy who makes music—
