It’s wild how a robot with Roboenza would sneeze, like—why?
Anyway, I sneezed while drawing this, and now I'm concerned my art has a virus...

Rockrtober Day 3: Virus
TW: graphic imagery (kinda…? Like allegorical blood.)
I would’ve kept this one’s scene as a script but I feel like it loses its impact without anything to make it into a story.
Tumblr media
“Yeah!!” Bass cheered, spinning in his chair as Piano cleared the final obstacles in the stage. Refocusing, he kicked up his feet on the desk and announced, “You’re in the clear! Now, your next opponent is right up ahea—"
Bass’s ventilation backfired directly into the mic, which he quickly muted. When he finally managed to stop, he groaned, optics unfocused as he deactivated Screen Share.
-…Bass?- Piano’s monotonous voice almost sounded concerned over the comms. -Are you operational?-
But Bass didn’t answer. If he were human, he undoubtably would’ve gone pale at the sight of his hand. How had his ventilation backfired with enough force to rupture a fuel line?
-…I am returning to Light Labs if I do not receive an answer within seven seconds.-
That snapped Bass out of it. Immediately, he scrambled to unmute himself. “Uh, nothing to worry about, Pi! Just… that Proto-Dweeb wandered over to the computer. Don’t worry about it!”
The Wily twins didn’t have the Light twins’ ability to sense one another’s emotions, but Bass could’ve sworn he felt Piano’s doubt. He held his breath, waiting for her to say something.
-…You are…certain that you are unharmed?-
Bass released the breath he’d been holding. “I’m fine, idiot. Go kick ***! I’ll keep the First Draft away from the computer.”
-Understood.-

LORE: Ive had a cold since Oct 1 so this is fitting lol. Anyway, during the Roboenza outbreak, the main cast of robotic protagonists ends up dropping like flies. You know, for dramatic tension and stuff. So, here’s the order in which characters fall ill.
Tempo. She got the virus first out of everyone in the main cast. Blues stopped by to see if she could hang out, only for Dr. LaLinde to reveal that she had a virus. Despite this, Blues still wanted to hang out (they both thought it was more like a computer virus than an illness, and joked about how she would make sure not to send him any downloadable content). Her symptoms worsened throughout the visit and into the next few days.
Blues. At first, he mistook his Roboenza symptoms for core-problems symptoms. He woke up feeling more tired than usual, but he doesn’t get a consistent flow of energy usually. He probably just didn’t charge well… Then, he starts feeling all warm. Oh well, maybe he’s doing a little too much & that’s why he’s overheating. But then his vision gets all grainy, and his sunglasses won’t help. Maybe he’s just malfunctioning…? Finally he ended up telling Dr. Light that he wasn’t feeling too good, at which point he collapsed and kicked off the start of the game.
Bass. This one takes place in the early-to-mid-game time period. After Wily ran off to Light Labs, Bass took over Mission Control there and Piano joined Roll and Rock in their objective. When Bass started showing symptoms, he insisted on just handling them himself… That is, until he overheated and was pulled away from the console.
Roll. This follows the same general structure as her sacrifice in the original. She gets sick while at Light Labs, and Blues (a little less lucid) gives the prototype medicine to her. (Bonus: I’m thinking he says a line about it being “his turn to make a sacrifice for her”).
Rock. While he and Roll infiltrate Wily’s castle, he collapses. Roll ends up half-carrying her twin until she can find a good spot to set him down. There’s no more medicine, so Rock is sent to Light Labs to rest. He shows up at the final battle anyway to block Wily’s escape route
Piano. Piano gets sick while infiltrating the castle from the other side. However, she’s built pretty sturdy and it feeds her ego a bit when she ends up fighting pretty well even with her symptoms.
And Rhythm might not even get sick lol
I kinda imagine Dr. LaLinde hearing about Blues getting sick after hanging out with Tempo all day & being like “Rhythm, I’m sorry, I need to keep you out of proximity with your sister”

Name: Sheep Man
Debut: Mega Man 10
Most of the Robot Masters are too "Man" for my tastes. But this one? This one is Sheep! And that makes him so awesome. Sheep Man was created to be a sheep herding robot, which is rather silly, since humans have already created a guy to help with sheep herding. That guy's name is "Dog", and he loves to do it! Sheep Man, however, left this job to work as a circuit board tester, which makes more sense. I don't think any dog breeds have been developed to do that yet.
Sheep Man's job at the circuit board manufacturer was in their static resistance test division, since he noticed static buildup in his wool. And this got me thinking, is there really truth to the Electric Sheep concept? I mean in the sense of static wool, of course. I am well aware that, unfortunately, regular sheep cannot use Zap Attacks. Wool is indeed likely to give up electrons and take on a positive charge, but it is also great at retaining moisture, and thus can in fact prevent static cling from occurring! I guess Sheep Man must be inhabiting some very dry environments!
Tumblr media
Considering his stage is a sort of Cyber's World, I guess it is a very dry environment? I don't know. I've never been in a digital world. Let me know if you have, and know how moist they are!
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, as a Robot Master, you probably know that Sheep Man is sort of a Bad Guy. But it's just because he is sick, infected with Roboenza, and can be cured! I am happy that this funny sheepborg is typically a nice fellow. In battle, he demonstrates the awesome power of Sheep, by turning into four clouds of wool that float independently and zap the ground! (Shouldn't the metal ground be zapping him, if anything?) He's like a four-pack of wool dryer balls for reducing static in your clothing. When the first three do their zappies, they disappear, and the fourth turns back into Sheep Man. I'm over here trying to apply real-world physics to Sheep Man, and there he goes, generating infinite matter!
At least there is a bit of Physics Phun in that his weakness is the Rebound Striker, a rubber ball weapon. It hurts him extra because it's stealing his electrons! Give those back!
Tumblr media
Generally, Robot Masters are "pretty neat at most" to me. You know me! I love creatures, and when robots are funny little guys that don't look like humans! So it is no surprise that I am VERY happy with the final Sheep Man design we got. The sleepy eyes are cute, yes, but I am so glad he was decided to be so much more Sheep than Man. It even looks like the design process was basically to give him more wool until he had no visible torso! Congratulations on your cephalothorax! A very excellent Man!

After a pair of largely game-compliant adventures, all hell broke loose in 20XX -- when an outbreak of Roboenza infected robots across the world, and sent many into a violent frenzy.
Taking advantage of the illness-induced chaos, a mysterious robot named King gathered a small army and led an organized revolt against humanity.
(Both plots, naturally, were a result of Dr. Wily failing to keep a lid on his yet-unfinished projects. Or, maybe they were a singular exercise...?)
Worst of all, Refrain was among the first infected with Roboenza -- and with no Mega Woman on the scene, it fell to Proto Man and Bass to forge an uneasy alliance to deal with the dual threats.
(And Wily.)

What is the “Roll Z” outfit about?
Oh-ho-ho! I have been waiting for someone to ask about that.
See, about a month ago, a friend of mine showed me this video by man on the internet.
Listening to it, I couldn't help but picture Roll in place of Zero, and thus, I drew up this:
Tumblr media
Now, I don't have a solid nor canon X timeline just yet because there's several ways it could go.
Please also keep in mind that I have never played the X games, so if I get anything wrong, I'm sorry!
All the timeline ideas start at the end of the golden age of robotics. Robot masters have been made illegal because of all of Wily's attacks, and so they're ordered by the government to (unfortunately) be deactivated. Including the light children. Light and Wily both end up going into hiding.
Roll, of course, did not agree with this and ran. But, she somehow gets damaged in the process. (The scenario I imagine the most is a building collapsing on top of her.)
This is where the timeline splits.
Timeline idea one:
The first idea I had has Wily finding Roll after she's damaged and decides to use her to get the final one up on Light.
He upgrades her to be the Z look, and much like with Zero, he implants the maverick virus into the gem on her helmet and seals her away, making her an unwitting pawn in his final plan.
Wily did not do anything to make her loyal to him because he knew it wouldn't work. He also knows the virus will likely not affect her either because of her sentience. (which is probably dumb in hindsight because she was affected by roboenza. Maybe the cure made her immune? Idk)
Light, in the meantime, is working on creating X (the timeline also splits here, but I'll get to that later) and passes away while X is in containment doing the final checks, as per the normal x timeline.
Now... Whether or not X is found before Roll is up for debate (as i said, i never played the X games), all I know is Dr Cain still finds X, and Sigma finds Roll.
Roll is initially hesitant to trust Sigma, even fighting him at first, but she is convinced to stop, and she does end up joining and becoming one of the top maverick hunters.
That'd be where Roll meets X...
Tumblr media
The timeline will most likely go on like the games from there.
Timeline idea two:
Much like timeline one, Wily finds and upgrades Roll. But unlike timeline one, Wily has a change of heart, not wanting his legacy to only be destructive.
In this timeline, Zero DOES exist, but he is unfinished, and the maverick virus is in him instead of Roll.
Everything else is like timeline one, except Roll may end up finding Zero at some point.
Dunno what she'd do. Maybe if she had a dream sequence like Zero did in one of the games of Wily telling her to "fix his mistakes," she'd destroy him or something.
Timeline Idea three:
This timeline can be a variation of one or two interchangeably because the change here is involving Light, and is actually somewhat based on an AU my friend has.
In this timeline, Light ends up taking Rock with him into hiding and upgrades him instead of building X.
Everything else carries on like timelines one or two up until "Rock X" ends up meeting "Roll Z"...
Tumblr media
After that, everything would carry on the same.
Timeline idea four:
This last idea is something I got from this video of a protoman rom hack for Mega Man X 1
This time, instead of Wily finding Roll, It's light who finds her and upgrades her, which would include fixing her core because ley me just sat this now,
Because Dr Light is the one who made Roll's experimental core, only HE can fix it since he's the only one who knows how it works. That doesn't mean it can't be maintained by others, though.
This means that in the other timelines, Roll likely still has that issue with her core.
This also means that Zero exists, too, but this time is fully completed. Although honestly, I imagine that Zero is built to be a girl in these timelines because I read somewhere that Zero was based on Protoman, and since he'd technically be based on Roll in this timeline...
I'm not sure what the dynamic between Roll and Zero would be to be perfectly honest. Neither of them would know about Zero being built by wily unless Zero tells Roll about that dream sequence.
Then again, he apparently asked light about it, and Light claimed he didn't know so... that's up in the air I guess.
There are several more possibilities I haven't covered here, like if Blues was taken to be upgraded by Light or if Roll wasn't found by anyone. But the four I talked about are the ones I think about most.
As I said, I don't know which one is the "canon" timeline for the AU. Buuut I think I should mention this-
When the robot masters are deactivated, I personally think that they were all preserved in a museum somewhere. It'd be such a shame otherwise. Plus, it means that, one day, Roll would be able to see Rock and Blues in some form.
Despite the rough patches in their history, Roll loves her brothers and would very much miss them.
I'll probably end up drawing more of Proto!Roll Z eventually.
For now, enjoy this little bit of dialogue I imagine being shared between X and Roll
Tumblr media
X: "So, you were the first of the Robot masters?"
Roll: "I was the prototype, yes."
X: "You were made by Dr Light too?"
Roll: "Mhmm.."
X: "That would make you my sister, right?"
Roll: "...huh. yeah, I guess it would."

something that keeps coming up if you look at the games’ stories is wily’s accomplishments. or, rather, the lack thereof. the truth is, Wily's actually kind of a shitty roboticist!
he's not very good at making robots, he's much better at modifying robots. i know the series (and a good chunk of fanwork) likes to hype him up as a mad genius of robotics, but he's actually kind of a complete phony. a tremendous hack. a huge fucking fraud. he's the brutal doom of the megaman-'verse, only famous because he used other people's work as a stepping stone. just like angry birds, he’s all about seeing someone else’s successful work and putting his own reskin on it so everyone else associates it with him. he’s not a developer, he’s a modder with delusions of grandeur.
the idea that his work all culminated in Zero and Zero’s the coolest bestest most awesomest robot ever is, frankly, completely laughable when you look at the track record of how many robots he’s actually made and how they’ve fared. his strongest work that’s come the closest to seriously threatening Megaman has never really been his own work. with Bass, Shadow Man, Ra Thor, and the Stardroids, he’s always had something else as a base and modified it to be stronger. even popular fanon is that Roboenza is based off MM8′s Evil Energy, which makes sense.
ironically enough, he does his best modding with weird alien shit. my personal theory is that Zero’s a modified Terra+Sunstar hybrid, utilizing his knowledge of making Ra Thor as a basis, powered by Super-Bassnium. the canon is that he’s based on Protoman, of all fucking people, but that’s completely nonsensical on so goddamn many fronts.
however, he is a fantastic designer. he's much better at making areas that adhere to an aesthetic! he has designed a lot of mini-bots specifically for the sake of complimenting an area, and he's revamped areas multiple times before to have a theme that compliments the Robot Master. even his own castles themselves, he has a clear skull motif that applies to everything and he will be fucking DAMNED if he doesn't see it through. even in megaman 11, we see him complete with a fucking set of skull jammies in a skull bed. the man fucking WILL NOT LIVE without his skulls. he probably wears skull underwear, the fucking nerd.
he’s not a roboticist. he's not even a good programmer, he's an artist. he's a mad artist angry over how his stuff never got views as opposed to that fucking Dr. Light's work, and he spent a lifetime trying to game the algorithm only for this fucking upstart to take it all away from him and get quadruple the subscriber counts in half the time. and now he's making it everyone else's problem.

OKAY MY TURN NOW: drop the headcanon deets. What's living rent-free in your head right this moment 👀
HOLY SHIT GOT SHOT BACK- LANDKSBDKAHDKAND
But alright!! There’s so many (Aside from Legends Reborn)
I mostly keep this shit in my head and I can make a huge list of it but dawg most of mine involves my silly interpretations- plus I seen people
It’s kinda a mess to think about but I’ll go to my personal favorites
X being chunky always gives me some feels for me, like he would fucking rock it. He’s actually more tanky then Zero while he’s sorta at times a glass canon (Mf Died like multiple times and X died Once). It derives from the idea of why he chose a thicker body, because the area of his stomach was pierced by Sigma like twice. So basically it gives him extra defense. Despite the it he’s just a Flexible as ever but a bit more slower.
Meaning that his “Stomach” area is incredibly sensitive and he will smack you on instinct if you touch it. He suffers phantom pains occasionally. It's a massive bitch but he got used to it.
(Aka I believe Burly/chunky X supremacy)
X has a soft spot for children okay, since he’s very approachable to children, he would even let them draw on his armor. Babies are a definite weakness of his their tiny hands will make him cry so hard
So it would make sense that he would be a parent but he would rather settle down to start a Family in peace times and after he himself healed and rested.
Zero is kinda a low key creature, in the sense that he actually has retractable claws and can run on fours but only for extremely rare occasions. That's because he’s not only the ultimate war but also the ultimate predator. Aka he’s fucking lion coded
One of the reasons why X and Zero are always different compared to other Androids and shit is because they were made from Alien tech/Energy stuff. You can’t fucking tell that Dr Light didn’t used the material that Duo left to include that while making X right? And Zero…We all know Wily was on some crack (I’m always a believer that He used evil energy to create Roboenza and what could eventually become the Maverick Virus). And no one knew about the whole fiasco with Duo aside from Megaman and the others. So it makes sense that Light and wily (Possible Cossack knew something about it) Used it for their final creations.
Marty (From the MMX manga that I’m absolutely so normal about) has so much knowledge of Marine life and the ocean, Rescue worker regulations and information is insane. How the flying shit did a marine rescue worker end up as an infamous Pirate Queen is a mystery to anyone.
She's also tall and muscular and is absolutely more “Beast-like” (Having scales, fangs and retractable webbed claws) to give off a more intimidating impression to keep folks away from her and her crew.
Speaking of her Crew they are all composed of other marine Rescue types, a couple Human Cyborgs (and a few non cyborgs) and a few Repliforce defectors. (A small fun fact in my silly XxMarty Valentine manatee oneshot, Marty brought up Gale Albatross who’s actually a former Repliforce soldier that defected as soon as they declared independence not wanting to be apart of it but is untrusting towards the hunters).
She may not look like but she genuinely cares for everyone in her crew and would do anything to protect them. She also courted her hair after her fight with Byte back at X3 manga. She has matured over the years but still holds her mischievous/prideful personality.
Contrary to what it's led to believe her crew aren’t like…bad or act like actual pirates. It’s more like they are more of an independent group. Since that they deal with poaching, taking out criminals out of sea, providing relief for coastal communities that were strongly affected by war, etc…They just Red Alert if they weren’t Bounty hunters.
Axl is absolutely a Streamer and a bit of a meme master. He’s a deadly actor and trickster so watch out he fucking glad that he’s a goober!!
Since I’m on a Legends kick
Legends is underrated as shit I mean the potential is great! It’s so fucking expansive Idk where to start-
WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH CARBONS??
LIKE NO ONE IS MAKING HEADCANONS OF THEM AND ITS A CRIME!
I’ll probably do some of mine at somepoint how they are Biomechanical creatures and how they diversified and evolved (The master basically granted them access to things that were lost that belonged to their Reploid ancestors.)
Or how the Ruins can be function as Mystery Dungeons and the different between an Official Digger and a independent Digger and so much wkrbekeheiba)
There’s are what I have but dawg so many in my little critter brain of mine

Any instance where Blues has gotten hurt really bad, needing to be treated by either Roll, Light, or Rock, who are concerned?
Thanks for the ask, Anon!
Despite his non-combative role, Blues has gotten hurt a couple of times. Not often to a “really bad” degree because he’s not often put in a position where he’s likely to get hurt, but it does happen sometimes by nature of being related to the city’s hero. That said, unless he is physically incapable of "just dealing with it", he probably wouldn’t let someone else fuss over him for very long (if at all).
I mean, I made him mentally 13 years old because that’s the first official “teen” year (which are traditionally marked by rebellion, searching for identity, and attempts to assert their own autonomy - so basically for thematic reasons) on top of his already fierce sense of independence and his introversion. He tries to do everything himself unless he literally can’t.
Here’s a short list of injuries (& health issues) that he has had to make his family worry:
The incident that led to the discovery of Blues’s defective core. His power output wasn’t stable, it fluctuated due to the imbalance in his core, and he lost power mid-demonstration (basically passing out), and on top of that he was still being attacked on his way down. Dr. Light panicked over that, given that his son was hurt and possibly dying and it was his fault. The guy was beating himself up even before he discovered Blues climbing out through the window. (Also fun fact: Dr. Light still hasn’t completely given up on the idea that maybe he can find a way to ensure that Blues can get a new core AND keep his personality, though Blues doesn't think that’ll happen in his lifetime.)
As mentioned here, he ended up kidnapped by Oil Man to be used as bait after being sent home (since he was low on charge, and that’s when he starts getting more frequent weird/painful sensations in his limbs), and I’m unsure how clear I was, but he did not get the chance to get a good charge before being taken to a second location. So, for that whole arc, he’s very grumpy, sleepy, and uncomfortable (and definitely took a lot of little spite-fueled mini-naps). Roll got super worried upon discovering his scarf and the ransom note, in part since it didn’t look like he actually made it inside of the lab. She has him chug an E-Tank immediately upon his rescue and she & Dr. Light make him take a long nap once he was back home (and he was actually very willing to comply with both requests. Let Blues Sleep 20XX).
Also not an injury, but Blues was not "Live Laugh Love"-ing in game 10. I’m not sure how much you are counting this, but he was sick for most of the game, and everyone was very concerned.
Similarly, though not as seriously, Rock got EXTREMELY worried and would not stop trying to help Blues the first time Blues got the aforementioned sensation in one of his limbs around him. (It’s Rock’s function to help, after all.) Like, Blues had to sit him down and say "It’s just a power fluctuation. My core does that sometimes because it doesn’t work right. I’m not dying. Well, not yet anyway." This likely doesn’t count, but I’m putting it out there anyway.
—————
As you can see, not a lot of dramatic injuries, again probably due to lack of proximity to as dangerous activities. I do like to think, though, that newly-activated Robot Masters have very young-child-like responses to things despite thinking like their programmed age (because they still have to learn about the world around them via experiences to fill in the gaps that data can’t cover). So, here’s a bonus based on the idea:
5. Blues (approximately 2 days old) fell out of a tree he was climbing at the park (he saw some human kids doing it the day before and thought it looked fun, but didn’t account for the fact that he was heavier than those kids and the tree he’d picked was a little less sturdy.) He didn’t make it very high up before a branch snapped. The fall didn’t actually hurt much, but he hadn’t been hurt before and ended up so startled that, because he was 2 days old, translated to crying (and, because he’s also 13 years old, trying to stop crying because 'it’s not that bad' and 'this is so embarrassing'). Cue First-Time-Parent Dr. Light frantically checking up on him while Blues is trying to convince him that he’s fine.

How do you suppose Dr. Wily makes money?
Well he's had at least a few known schemes, in 6 he took on the identity of Mr. X, probably got funding for his tournament idea. 9, he had a hotline to raise funds to stop the robots rebelling against the expiration date laws, in 10 I think he was holding the blueprints or what have you for the Roboenza vaccine for essentially ransom... In the comics, the MM5 Robot Masters were operating a carnival to raise funds for him... Notably I believe it was stated that Crystal Man was built to make artificial crystals for sale.

Your honest opinion of Sigma?
Boring.
It's funny how Sigma, who most likely was intended to be edgier and cooler and more morally complex than Wily, ended up being much more generic and forgettable than the goofy scientist who creates a Bubble Man and a Spring Man :P
I think the difference is that Wily has much more presence in the Classics, even in those that pretend to trick you that this time the villain will be different. Besides, even in those games, the only new character introduced was Cossack: MM5 has Protoman, and I doubt anyone believed that he'd be evil, and MM6 has Mr. X, which... yeah.
Sigma doesn't have this. From X2 to X7, with X5 being the major exception, the major antagonist is someone else, all with their solid motivations. You enter their bases, you fight their forces. And then fucking Sigma swoops in and steals the show without any buildup, or the worst foreshadowing known to man. It gets to a point where he gets the same treatment in X8, and instead of making people groan like Sonic fans used to do when Eggman got replaced, they celebrated it because FINALLY. (although even Lumine isn't best villain in this regard lol)
Sigma simply doesn't have personality or style. Wily wants to conquer the world to prove his genius, and in a story like the Classics, it's all you need. He's goofy, he's perpetually jealous, he's not above humiliating himself to run away, at one point he leaves the cure for the Roboenza behind to make things even, and we even get a honest glimpse on his past and what were his original plans. Sigma believes in Reploid superiority... at first. You'd be forgiven if you forgot about this because after the first game, my man is just evil for the sake of evil, the most generic "hahaha you will never defeat me" bad guy you can think of. Also I swear that none of his speeches are in any way memorable, except the one in X7 because of his voice and because he says things like "that's right folks!" and "I will make X and Zero mine!". Again, zero personality.
You'd think that the idea that he was infected by the virus Zero carried within him would make him more interesting, but no, not even The Days of Sigma properly explore this, one day Sigma is a honorable commander and the other he's sabotaging shit.
So yeah, I don't hate Sigma, he fills his purpose, but he's one of the weakest villains in the franchise for me, if not the weakest, because he doesn't fit the supposedly more complex tone of the X series. Fucking Serpent from ZX is more memorable than he is, because of that one scene where he bombs a whole highway that is given the gravitas it deserves.

Man, ever since I got interested in the MLP Infection AUs and replayed the Megaman games (which is a mistake), I’m reminded of the roboenza virus from Megaman 10 (when robots got infected and became aggressive when sick). I’m currently replaying Megaman 6, but I do remember the overall plot of 10 ever since I finished playing it. Also I’m hyperfixating on the MM8BDM story because it is THAT good.
This gave me an idea: Robots became infected with a Yandere virus.
That is all.
