SL05: “Hemsökta Skogen”.

Delmål 1 (Kap 01–04).

Will har fått sin första egna postering, och det är tydligen det lugna lilla landskapet Seacliff. Det är kanske inte konstigt att Will nu börjar röra sig bort från lärling-rollen och till mer ansvarstagande roller. Med sin historik har han säkert haft lite av en raketkarriär redan inom Spejarskrået. Det slår mig lite under andra kapitlet att det vore kul med en uppdatering av Wills övriga vänner – de senaste två böckerna har et främst varit Horace av de gamla vännerna vi fått bekanta oss med.

Och redan nu sätts spelbrädet upp, hunden som Will hittar dödligt sårad kanske inte kommer ställa till förtret – men jag blir väldigt förvånad om Will inte kommer stångas åtminstone lite med John Buttle som ingen verkar tycka om. Och redan under andra kapitlet får jag en känsla av att vi kommer få träffa en Robin Hood-figur. Något med omnämnandet av tjuvskyttar som informationskällor, och bokens titel kanske, ingav mig den känslan.

Redan i andra kapitlet får en aning om Will kvinnliga kompis denna bok. Flickan som tittar ut från värdshuset (som var ”anmärkningsvärt söt”, suck™) måste iaf ha introducerats av en anledning – och inte bara som ett led i att den kommande hushållerskans introduktion.

Intressant att se hur länsherren och hans krigsskolans ledare redan här försöker försätta Will i beroendeställning och få auktoritet över honom. Jag kan kanske tycka att det känns lite tidigt för Flannigan och låta de äldre männen köra över Will, speciellt på ett sådant klumpigt och osmidigt sätt…

Delmål 2 (Kap 05–08).

Se där, jag tyckte väll att efternamnet "Treaty" kändes nytt och obekant. Tydligen förlängdes Will det efter fredsavtalet med Skandierna.

Några fler indikationer som ger mig en känsla av att en Robin Hood-figur kommer dyka upp. Annars är det kanske mötet med de antågande Skandierna som är delmålets stora händelse. Hur Will deskalerar situationen och undviker en attack och plundring visar på att han kommer bli en tillgång för den lilla ön. Bra också att både kungen och Norris rar sitt ansvar gör den slappa disciplinen bland öns krigare.

En annan trevlig sak är att vi får träffa en av Wills gamla vänner: diplomatlärlingen Alyss. Det antyds att de blev mer än vänner efter att Will kom hem från Skandia. Synd bara att man sätter upp henne i ett triangeldrama med flickan Will ser när han först kommer till byn.

Ser fram emot att få se vad det här hemliga uppdraget är, och varför det är så viktigt att just Will genomför det. Speciellt sedan han mer eller mindre nyss kommit till den nuvarande tjänsten.

Delmål 3 (Kap 09–12).

Så får Will möta John Buttle, mannen som lämnade hunden till att dö med uppsprättad mage. Det kändes ju som ett lägligt svepskäl att han vill ha tillbaka sin hund när man åker fast för att tjuvlyssna på den lokala spejaren. Hunden i fråga väljer dock Will. Alyss är orolig för att de måste döda Buttle nu när han vet om att Will skall på hemligt uppdrag, jag roas dock av idén att Will helt sonika dumpar honom hos Skandierna som en avskedsgåva. Smidig lösning som spejarnas överhuvud blir lite imponerad av, iaf efter att ha blivit påmind om sina egna gamla försyndelser. Buttles insats i boken verkar bli det här kapitlet och inte så mycket mer.

Jag vet inte riktigt vad jag skall tycka om att Will sätts i egen tjänst i Seacliff för att sedan – mer eller mindre omgående – skickas norröver på hemligt uppdrag. Det känns fruktansvärt onödigt faktiskt. Han hade lika gärna kunnat vara jvar hos Halt och frilansat som egen spejare.

Jag har dock för mig att nästa bok heter ”Macindaws Fästning” så jag tror vi får förbereda oss på ett rejält äventyr. Det skall bli intressant att se vad det här med trolldom handlar om, som man brukar säga att det mesta är de facto trolldom till man begripit sig på det. Intressant att Will skall anta rollen som en gycklare (eller kringresande speleman), det förklarar intresset man visade för Wills sångförmågor tidigare i boken. Beskrivningen av Berrigans kläder påminner lite av både en klassisk Gycklare, en Harlekin men för faktiskt också tankarna till Lekarnas mantel i Sagan om Drakens Återkomst (iaf bokversionen).

Vi verkar slippa ett triangeldrama iaf. Alltid något.

Delmål 4 (Kap 13–16).

Bara jag som fick Bond-vibbar när Spejarnas ledare delar ut presenter till Will på hans uppdrag? Det började med den alternativa spejar-/gycklarmanteln med snökamouflage och rullar sedan på nästan smärtsamt… Och märkligt undfallande är de när det kommer till kontaktpersonen. ”Det är någon du kommer känna igen”? Låter väldigt mystiskt, har svårt att se att de inte har en plan klar för kontaktpersonen. Och när folket på värdshuset börjar tala om problemen i området kommer Sleepy Hollow-vibbarna. Har Flanagan börjar tappa greppet om inspirationen?

Inte mycket händer egentligen under delmålet – mer än att vi får se Will ”in action” som gycklare/speleman. Jag är faktiskt lite besviken att vi inte fick lära känna Barrigan ytterligare. Så kanske är det inte så konstigt att vi redan i slutet på det här delmålet väntar utanför Macindaws portar.

Delmål 5 (Kap 17–20).

Det är lite av en tryckt stämning i fästningen när Will anländer, och det kan man väl förstå. Och troligtvis bidrar Ormans beteende till saken. Mitt intryck av Orman är att han är en pompös besserweisser, full på sin egen ”höga” utbildning. Hela grejen med hans tal om ”den högre musiken” påvisar noll sympati med folket han nu är satt (att om än tillfälligt) leda. Han verkar också själv känna att han sitter osäkert på sin post, att han kallar upp Will till sitt ämbetsrum för att markera sin status bekräftar det. Han verkar till ytan inte vilja regera – men det vet vi ju från andra historier att det kan vara en ren fasad.

Jag kan tycka att det är lite magstarkt att Will promenerar in i Dysterdalsskogen redan första kvällen. Det känns lite genomskinligt liksom och något som kan dra ögonen till sig. Något är det iaf som rör sig i skogen, även om konstiga ljussken och stora svarta gestalter känns som uppenbarar sig känns som ett spel att hålla folk borta. Skall nog inte släppa min Robin Hood-teori än, bara för att vi flyttat till en annan landsända.

Och givetvis är det Alyss som är Wills kontakt, det borde man begripit eftersom hon redan var indragen i det här uppdraget som budbärare. Inte för att jag var förvånad egentligen, det kändes mer som ett :rolleyes:-moment.

Delmål 6 (Kap 21–24).

Jag tycker på det hela taget fungerade samtalet mellan Will och Alyss, till skillnad från Will är jag dock inte alls överraskad att Alyss är lika mycket spion som han – bara med en annan plattform. De gör också ett bra jobb med att dekonstruktera vad Will egentligen såg i skogen. Jag ser fram emot att se hur detta hänger ihop med maktstriden i fästningen; för det är jag säker på att den gör. Orman ser ut att ha koll på styret, så kanske är det Keren som ligger bakom ”fenomenen” för att själv få tronen. Det är oroväckande att soldaterna kanske går emot Orman (som är deras herre) i respekt för Keren som kanske inte är annat än usurpator.

Och Wills högra arm Horace kommer till undsättning, tror det kommer behövas med lite muskler som livvakt för både Alyss och Will.

Delmål 7 (Kap 25–28).

Handuppräckning: hur många kände att de behövde en comeback av John Buttle? Nä, trodde inte så heller. Bokens stora suckafrustrerat-moment. Och här får vi bekräftelse på vad jag nämnde tidigare: Keren är antagligen den som ställer till allt besvär och Malkallam är inget annat än en verkligt skicklig helare och örtagårdsmästare.

Sådant har hänt förut. När någon blir riktigt skicklig inom ett område börjar folk tro att det har med magi att göra. (Kapitel 27).

Jag är inte jätteöverraskad att Orman visste exakt vad Will egentligen var. Men det var ändå en trevlig twist att Orman kallade till sig Will för att få hjälp. Min känsla här är att resten av boken kommer att centreras kring att rädda Orman och dennes far. Fästningen kommer falla i Kerens händer och nästa bok kommer vara hur man återtar den.

Sedan kände jag mig långsam, jag fick tidigare bilden att Makallam var en gammal (mer eller mindre) historisk figur, och förvånades av att han fortfarande levde. Men det förstås, den historiska Malkallam och denne örtagårdsmästare kanske delar namn eller den senare fått epitetet på grund av sin skicklighet.

Gillar scenerna inne i skogen då Will både får visa upp sin skicklighet, men samtidigt göra misstaget att göra en missbedömning med bågen. Även om jag gärna sett Buttle avpolletteras redan här. Men visst är detaljen roande att samtidigt som Buttle tagit tjänst hos Keren så jobbar dennes före detta hund för Will att finna den mytomspunne helaren och ett botemedel?

Delmål 8 (Kap 29–32).

Okej, lite för välbekant är konceptet med den mystiske (och överlägset visare) helaren som bor på en otillgänglig plats dit han också plockar samhällets utstötta. Det funkar, och bidrar givetvis till ryktena om monstren som Malkallam sägs skapa. Och mycket riktigt handlar det om en Malcom som fått epitetet Malkallam för sin skicklighets skull, troligtvis av Keren som ett led att ta över styret i regionen. Så helt fel ute var jag inte med min Robin Hood-teori, om än att det inte handlar om några ädla stråtrövare heller.

Alyss däremot ser Will och Orman fly borgen, och inser att det är fara å farde. Givetvis smart nog att inte säga för mycket till Keren som hon avslöjar med minst två lögner under deras samtal. Gillade dock inte den nedlåtande tonen i att Alyss tjänare skulle vara ”mer intelligentare än de flesta tjänare”. Buttle lär avslöja henne, det troliga är att enda anledningen till att han är där för att han vet att Will fick uppdrag dit, och gör han inte det satsar han på utpressning.

Så Orman kommer klara sig, och nu återstår att se vad som händer med Alyss. Undrar f.ö. om Horace kommer anlända i något av slutkapitlen för att kunna hjälpa till med att ta tillbaka borgen i nästa bok? Känns logiskt just nu, saker har hänt väldigt fort de senaste kapitlen.

Delmål 9 (Kap 33–36).

Givetvis hinner Buttle springa på Alyss. 🙄 Givetvis känner han igen henne. Personligen tycker jag hela scenen där han kommer inbrakandes i hennes svit som föga realistisk. Jag menar, han är rekryterad soldat och kliver in som om han äger stället? Beordrar en kvinna av betydligt högre status att ställe sig upp? Antingen har Buttle en hållhake på Keren eller också hängav sig Flanagan åt slarvigt skrivande i den scenen. Fanns inte något alls jag köpte i det partiet.

Den där stenen Keren hade skall det bli intressant att få höra mer om, klart är att den fungerar som något hypnotiskt fokus, kanske med en viss narkotisk verkan? Och min tippning här är att Alyss troligtvis berättat allt för Keren.

Wills klättring uppför muren och tornet tillhör bokens hittills kanske bästa partier, den gjordes spännande utan att man slängde in en massa onödig överdramatik.

Delmål 10 (Kap 37–EP).

Äsch. Snacka om ett fullständigt ointressant slut, eller slut och slut. Det är väl snarare ett icke-slut. Buttle lyckas rymma från skandierna och det var bara en slump att han hamnade precis på samma ställe som Will och Alyss av en ”slump”. Oh-ja. SLUMP. Till och med läsare i rätt åldersgrupp måste se den ”twisten” som rent idiotisk.

Sedan vet jag inte riktigt vad jag skall tycka om den där stenen. Som läsare över målgruppen känns det mest som en billig ursäkt för att slippa ha med tortyr eller tuffare förhör. Så ”smidigt” då med en mystisk sten (speciellt sedan vi nyss dekonstruerat alla ”magiska fenomen” hittills i boken) med hypnotisk effekt på folk.

Samma pissiga icke-slut som ”krigarkungens sal”, den liksom bara slutar utan att man åstadkommit så mycket. Och man slog på stora trumman mitt i boken om att skicka Horace – vilket inte görs förrän i epilogen?

Nä, sista delmålet var nog bokens sämsta, ett typexempel på när man får klippa av intrigen för att det skall passa ett visst sidomfång snarare än att berätta en tillfredställande historia.

Sammanfattning.

En helt okej story med förvecklingar och tvister, det är kul att se Will och Alyss ute på ett gemensamt uppdrag, men kommer med ett låtsasslut som lämnar lite av en sur smak i munnen. Precis som de föregående två böckerna så verkar storyn delats upp på två delar för att passa ett visst sidantal. Jag gillar heller inte heller hur karaktären Buttle kläms in med två skohorn i storyn för att ställa till oreda. Han bidrar inte till så mycket mer än att göra mig irriterad.

Cause of my Current Brainrot - steddie with background ronance Hades AU.

Steve as Zagreus - Determined to get out of the underworld, rebellious son. Charming and good at getting his ass kicked.

Eddie as Thanatos - God of the dead, in love with Steve since childhood, everyone thinks he’s scary but he’s just a guy. (His companion would be a bat this time round tho because of course.)

Nancy as Megaera - Fury with a gun, Steve’s Ex, cares about her job and dumped Steve for being to immature, nectar starts a friendship.

Robin as Dusa - Instead of just a head she’d be a full Gorgon, Steve tries to flirt with her but she eventually she’s like I’m gay and the platonic soulmatism kicks in, Steve starts matchmaking her and Nancy like it’s her job and running to her about Eddie being mean to him.

Dustin as Hypnos - Eddies little brother, playfully bullies Steve for his deaths, gets distracted at work, sassy

I’m not sure if Hopper and Joyce should be Hades and Nyx or Olympians but the rest of the party are definitely the younger Olympians.

Max as Hermes because she’d deffs be in on this and is the Zoomer.

Controversially Lucas as Artemis because he’s sweet and awkward and deserves a goated boon. He’s also the ranger of the party guys so this makes sense.

El as Athena Goated boons, defence for days, very strong and wanting to fix her family.

Also controversially Mike as Ares he’s our little hotheaded paladin and him being the reverse of El is pretty cute.

Will as Aphrodite but he doesn’t really get love, biggest heart for days, talks more about familial love when talking to Steve and mentions he’s nervous about his role to Steve. Crush on Mike.

Argyle as Dionysus because it just fits a lot.

I’m struggling with Jonathan because I think he needs to be Wills brother always but also I think he’d really fit Charon but how am I going to make him buds with Dionysus of all people.

Murray as Poseidon idk why that fits but Murray being kind of a dick who gives you things just fits.

I’m struggling now to think of more. Joyce as Demeter and Hopper as Zeus I think would also fit and obviously I’d have to overhaul a lot of who’s related to who to make this all work and make the kids not related to each other obviously but yeah. This is the brainrot. I won’t be writing this obviously but it’s going around in my head.

Robin Locksley was born into nobility, died honorably as a retired thief and resurrected to eventually become King Consort. After being murdered by Hades to protect Regina, Robin was brought back to be reunited with his soul mate and true love only to find out he had a daughter. From then on not a single moment was taken for granted with family or friends. Robin is still an outlaw at heart who loves the forest. Once a month he drags a reluctant Regina camping where they live 3 full days riding horses and practice archery without modern luxuries. Robin is a forest ranger but he spends time volunteering at local orphanages and building extreme play forts for kids.

Swanfire and Outlaw Queen happy endings.

Swanfire

Emma revives Neal with TLK. And she chooses him. Hook puts his energy into being Neal's friend and writing his wrongs.

Snowing names their son Benjamin.

Later on, it's Neal who becomes the Dark One. Hook takes on the darkness to save his friend. The gang mounts a rescue mission, but in the end Hook moves on to Mt. Olympus. Where he gets a happy ending with Milah.

Emma and Neal get married and continue raising Henry (with Regina) until he goes to the Magical Forest.

Neal and Emma start and run a foster home. They don't have more kids of their own after Henry, but they love the foster kids they take care of.

Neal and Emma also love to spoil their granddaughter, Lucy.

Outlaw Queen

Robin pushes Regina down when Hades fires the Olympian Crystal at her. Zelena saw what Hades had tried to do and she killed him.

Zelena began the process of redeeming herself. Takes it one day at a time. She and Robin decide on a name for their daughter. Rosa Mills-Hood.

Regina adopts Roland after she marries Robin.

Sometime after Henry leaves for the Magical Forest, Roland leaves home to attend Elphame Academy.

Eventually Regina and Robin join Henry in the Magical Forest. Where they live in Tiana's Palace until Drizella's curse.

After the realms unit Regina is crowned the Good Queen. And Robin is a park ranger.

Not This Again!

So I stopped watching the show in Season 6, but I still followed it on tumblr. Also still very much obsessed with Captain Swan. Anyway, season 7 stuff has been all over my tumblr dash even though I don't care for it (honestly I really don't know much about it). There will be some similarities to season 7 such as grown up Henry with a daughter, Officer Rogers (though here he's the original Killian we know and love), and it's set in Hyperion Heights in Seattle. Differences here are that more characters we're familiar with are cursed and that after season 5 things turned out differently such as Robin being alive, amongst other things, like Emma and the CS kids.

Also I promise that I have not seen season 7 at all except for gifsets of Rogers and Henry and Lucy and stills of Roni, Rogers, Lucy, and Henry, so anything that's even remotely similar (other than the intentional use of Rogers and Hyperion Heights) is purely coincidental.

There is NO wish verse in this fic, and the wish verse never ever happened. Also no Rumple (he was the final battle evil in this verse, not the dark fairy) and Scarlet Beauty, as well as CS, Snowing, and OQ.

Prologue: Another Curse? Again?

Storybrooke, Maine, Fall 2039

Three women surrounded the Wishing Well in the woods of Storybrooke. A fourth woman stood away, leaning against a tree. She didn’t have magic, so the sisters didn’t need her for the curse. She was only there at Hades’ suggestion in order to ensure that the three witches kept up their end of the deal.

The three sisters worked their magic. It wasn’t exactly the Dark Curse, since the sisters didn’t have a thing that they loved the most, but it was a curse that would work almost the same.

Hopefully, it was also a curse that the Savior couldn’t break. All they needed to do was make sure that they cursed the people Hades needed. If they failed, there would be consequences to face.

The fourth woman wasn’t keen on the sisters failing and invoking the wrath of the God of the Underworld. They better not screw this up.

As the sisters finished the curse, smoke began to rise from the well. It was thick and a twirling mixture of deep red, emerald, and royal purple. The thick clouds rose towards the sky as it expanded outward, already engulfing the sisters.

In a slow roll, the curse headed towards the fourth woman.

She let the curse overtake her. Here we go.

A frequent, card carrying member of the Storybrooke Library, Killian Jones found himself entering said library on a lovely Saturday morning.

As usual Belle was there.

Her husband Will Scarlet, a man that Killian had actually grown fond of over the last twenty odd years, was there having delivered breakfast a la Granny’s.

Will jovially greeted Killian, but Belle looked at the pirate turned deputy with sad eyes. She knew why he was here as he’d been coming to the library for the same reason for twenty years now. Emma joined him often enough, but today she wanted to spend her day off with their children. Killian just had the morning off, but he was due at the station by lunch.

After Will bid his goodbyes, Killian made his move for the stacks, but Belle stepped in front of him.

“Killian, don’t you think that it’s time to give up the search?” She spoke gently, not wanting to hurt him, but twenty years was too long to hold on to hope. Especially after everyone they knew had done everything in their power to find what was lost to the Jones family.

Killian moved around her, ignoring her comment. They had had many arguments over the years about him and Emma giving up, but it had only made the Jones’ more stubborn. Often Killian ended up turning it on Belle, asking her if she would ever give up if it was her kids. That usually made her back down rather quickly, but she eventually always brought it up again.

It stung that even one of the Godmothers of his children, someone who had once believed that there was good in the Dark One, had given up hope just like everyone else had. Only he and Emma were left; it might not be healthy for them, but they weren’t just going to stop if there was a chance.

Shaking her head, Belle returned to what was left of her breakfast, not wanting to get into another argument with her best friend.

Belle sighed as Killian perused the shelves. By now both he and Emma had read all of the books that the library possessed that referenced magic. They had even gone through all of the books and scrolls in Regina’s vault, including the one’s that had once been in Rumplestiltskin’s possession. Surely, if they hadn’t found some way by now, it was time to give up, right?

Deputy Neal Nolan tossed yet another pencil in the ceiling of the Sheriff’s Station.

“You know, your sister isn’t going to be happy to see more wholes in the ceiling.” Robin Hood told the younger man as he read the newspaper. Robin was a part of Storybrooke’s Forest Rangers, but he took shifts at the station from time to time to help out. His wife Regina was keen for him to retire, but Robin wasn’t in any hurry.

“She won’t know they’re there if I make them disappear.” Neal shrugged.

Robin looked at him over his paper, arching a brow. “Are you admitting to an officer of the law that you, another officer of the law, abuse your magic by using it to cover up your transgressions?”

Neal smirked. “That’s absolutely not what I said. Go back to your paper, old man.”

“And take my eyes off of you so that you can cover up your crimes?” Robin asked with good humor. “You are defacing public property after all. The town has to pay for that.”

“Only if there’s evidence.” Neal said. A look of horror suddenly came across his face as he pointed at the window behind Robin. “Look!”

“That’s not going to work.” Robin said. “You forget, I have two children who live to pull the wool over my eyes.”

Neal huffed. “Yeah, okay, you got me there.”

The phones started ringing.

Robin and Neal shared a worried look since all of the phones and phone lines were ringing. That was unprecedented in Storybrooke’s history.

Before either man could start answering phones, they heard people screaming outside.

The two men hurried out of the station.

People were running towards the center of town, the smoky clouds of a curse behind them following the residents of Storybrooke at an alarming speed.

Neal gaped at the clouds. “Well, fuck.”

It was such a lovely day to be at the beach, and Emma Jones was happy to spend the day with her two children, especially since her son Wes would be finishing his gap year and going to college in the fall. At least Morgan was still in high school, so Emma’s baby could still be her baby a little while longer.

Of course, in Storybrooke, happiness was usually interrupted.

They had heard the screaming from the town, and as they hurried back, Leroy had found them, screaming about another curse.

After living in Storybrooke for decades, Emma could handle a curse.

As she, her kids, and Leroy ran towards the center of town, Wes shouted at her. “Was there even a villain on the radar?”

“Not that I was aware of.” Emma called back as she ran ahead.

“It’s already covered half the town!” Leroy screeched. “We’re too late!”

Emma rolled her eyes. When they reached Main Street, Emma could see the curse coming. It was three separate colors that twirled around each other. That was new.

It made Emma’s gut churn. Now that she knew the curse was more of a threat than Leroy’s usual overreactions, she hurried up Main Street trying to remember Regina’s lessons in stopping curses and spells. It was tough for Regina to do, but she had long ago told Emma that as a product of True Love, Emma’s magic could handle more than the average sorceress. If she couldn’t stop it Wes and Morgan were right behind her packing just as much True Love magic as her thanks to hers and Killian’s love.

Emma stopped in the middle of Main Street and took a deep, calming breath, centering herself before opening her eyes and flinging her arms out. White magic shot from her hands and hit the curse clouds, halting their progress. As she concentrated her magic into doing as Regina instructed, something didn’t feel right. This curse was different.

“Mom?” Morgan sounded worried, and that wasn’t usual for Morgan. As the baby of the family, she often let everyone else do the worrying.

But Emma knew why she was worried; Emma’s magic wasn’t working to stop the curse. She could hear people crowding behind her and she heard her mother speaking to the people to calm them down.

Wes stepped up to her side. “I don’t think you can stop it.”

“I can’t just let everyone become cursed.” Emma said. “We don’t know who cast it or why or where we’ll end up.”

Wes was silent and Emma knew those gears in his head were turning. Like his father, Wes often thought of a solution Emma didn’t, and she was glad to have him by her side with Killian being oddly absent. “Shield the rest of the town.”

Understanding what he meant, Emma shifted her magic into a forcefield that rose over and around the remains of the town. “Everyone on the other side will be taken by this curse.”

“Then we’ll figure it out.” Wes said. “You always figure it out, mom.”

“He’s right.” Morgan spoke up, watching the curse clouds cascade over Emma’s white shield. “Besides, you’re not alone. Wes and I can help, and Dad and Henry wherever they are.”

When the curse dissipated Emma lowered the shield and went to stand beside her mother in front of the gathered townspeople. “As you can see, we’ve had another curse. We don’t know who was behind it or why, but we will find out. Unfortunately, we were too late to stop it. All I could do was protect the rest of you from being taken by it. I want all of you to go to your homes and jobs, and find out who all is missing. Report them missing to the Sheriff’s station. If any of you see someone or something suspicious, call my number directly and immediately.”

After years of Emma Jones being pretty much in charge of everything, the town agreed to her orders. She was the Savior after all.

Seattle, Washington, a few weeks later…

Henry Swan was alone. That was his life. Orphaned at a young age, adopted into an abusive family, and then bouncing around with no set goal in life, all Henry had was himself to rely on. He lost himself in reading and then learned that his passion was in writing stories. His stories, getting lost in creating these worlds, worlds of magic and curses and pirates and saviors, became his home; his reprieve from his lonely existence.

He was watching his ramen noodles cook in the microwave, his thoughts geared towards the newest adventure of Emma Swan and Captain Jones, when there was a knock at the door to his apartment.

Confused, because he didn’t have friends and he certainly never had visitors, Henry left his kitchen and walked over to the front door. He peeked out of the peep hole, but saw nothing.

There was another knock at the door that made Henry jump back.

Cautiously, he opened the door.

There was a little girl with black hair and warm, dark brown eyes, her round face smiling up at him. She must have been no more than eight years old. He had never seen this girl in his life, but there was something painfully familiar about her, and his heart filled with an aching feeling that made his head spin.

He shook his head and blinked. “Can I help you?”

“Are you Henry Swan?” The little girl asked, though her tone made Henry feel like she already knew the answer. Even the way she was looking at him made him think that she seemed to know him, even if he didn’t know her. She seemed to be very excited, but it appeared as though she was trying to hold it all in.

Like a bomb ready to explode.

It made Henry nervous. “Um, yeah?”

“My name is Sofia.” She grinned even wider. “I’m your daughter.”

If The Worst Happens

Prompt Summary: Robin and Regina are trying to figure out who would take in then kids if they die when Henry says that he's taking care of his brother and sisters.

"What are godparents?"

Regina pauses, the knife in her hand going still mid-swipe as she cuts up Clarissa's chicken. She looks toward Roland in surprise as he stares at her from across the table, his brown eyes brimming with innocence as he waits for an answer. She looks over at Robin and sees he's just as much thrown off guard by the question as she is.

It's Henry who finally answers him.

"They're the people who are supposed to take care of you if your parents die," he absentmindedly answers as he continues to stealthily text from beneath the dining table. Regina's eyes whip toward her elder son, silently trying to convey her displeasure at his nonchalant tone. Her reaction goes unnoticed.

"Oh," said Roland, his eyes going wide with understanding. Curiosity satisfied, he simply shrugs his shoulders and goes back to eating his green beans.

His parents, on the other hand, aren't left so relaxed. Locking eyes they have an intense silent conversation that ends with Robin clearing his throat and turning to his son. "Why do you ask Roland?"

"Because at school Freddy said that he had godparents and I didn't know what they were," he answers.

"Oh. Okay," says Regina nodding her head, still a bit thrown off.

Another moment passes before Roland pops an even heavier question. "Do I have godparents?"

Regina locks eyes with Robin and sees the answer written clear across his face.

And so begins the longest argument they've ever had.

"How could you not pick godparents for him?!"

Regina runs the brush through her hair a little rougher than usual that night, spurned on by her burning shock from this new revelation. She'd been hounding him about since they'd put the kids to bed.

"Well it's not like it was the main priority when he was born," argued Robin, pulling his t-shirt over his head. "I was on the run and Marian was captured a few weeks later. I didn't have time to think of the future. I was too busy trying to make it through the day."

She lets out a frustrated groan as she glares at him from the bathroom mirror.

"Don't look at me like that," he warns. "It was a tough time. And seeing as how you're judging me so harshly what about Henry?"

She narrows her eyes at him. "What do you mean?"

"Where are his godparents?" Robin interrogates, accusingly.

Still glaring, she only clenches her jaw in response.

"So you didn't pick any either," he smugly replies.

"I was living in a town full of people I was cursing for all of eternity," she reminded. "Do you really think I would've trusted any of them with my son?"

Looking back, it suddenly struck Regina as odd that with how worried she'd been about being a good mother when she'd adopted him that she'd never put anything official into place for Henry's care should something happen to her. To be perfectly honest she hadn't really expected for her demise to be a concern. She lived in a cursed town where time stood still and she controlled every little thing. In her mind the chances of an unexpected death were slim at worst, impossible at best.

She sighs, dropping the brush on the counter. "Great, so neither of our sons have godparents."

Robin moans, nervously. "I hate to bring this up… but neither does our daughter."

Regina's eyes widen. "Oh my god! Neither does our daughter," she breathes.

Her heart clenches when she realizes that even three years after her birth they still haven't chosen godparents for their baby girl. In all fairness, the initial weeks after Clarissa's birth had been quite stressful. Going to the underworld, dealing with Hades and Zelena. Regina would always be grateful that her sister had chosen to do the right thing. She gave up Clarissa and chose to vanquish Hades even though she loved him and knew it would mean being forced to take his place in the underworld. Her choice had saved all of them, including their baby girl. And after everything settled she and Robin had been so focused on just getting back into a routine that any thought of godparents just went out the window.

"How could we let this happen?" she whispers.

Robin sees her starting to spiral and immediately rushes to her side. "Regina…"

"Robin we have three children," she stresses. Pressing a hand to her stomach she shakes her head, "And we're about to have a fourth."

It was early. She was barely halfway through her first trimester, the only people who knew were Henry and Emma but they were going to have another child. And of course, she was ecstatic about that. Stunned, perhaps a tiny bit frightened but still ecstatic. Or at least she was until now.

"What is supposed to happen to them if we…?"

She can't even bring herself to say the words and he certainly doesn't let her.

"Don't think like that," he says, pulling her close. "Our children will be fine. They will be taken care of by us, because we are not dying. Not today, not anytime soon. So… let's just put this out of heads, ok? It doesn't matter if they have godparents. They have us. That's enough."

His calm promises soothe her nerves. She sinks into his embrace, letting it warm her from the inside out. Taking a deep breath, she nods her head. "Ok. I'll put it out of my head."

She couldn't put it out of her head.

The pregnancy had been messing with her sleep for weeks now but that night it wasn't the baby keeping her up. It was her thoughts and her memories. Despite Robin's assurances all she could think about was every battle they'd ever face, every time she'd come close to losing him or her life. The mines, Camelot, the darkness… Hades. They'd had so many brushes with death that they'd narrowly escaped. How long could they tempt fate before it finally decided to take one or both of them? And what would happen to their children then?

It was one a.m. when she reached the end of her rope.

Rolling over she viciously shakes Robin's shoulder until he reluctantly opens his eyes with a groan. "What? What's happening?"

She stares down at him with urgency in her eyes. "Robin we have to find someone to take care of the kids. I mean it. Now."

The merry men are his first suggestion.

They run into John after their thirteenth-week sonogram. He's the first one to see the picture of their new little one. Looking down at it he gets a little teary-eyed like the giant softie Regina now knows him to be. Makes them promise to bring the children around for a proper visit to the new forest rangers' station that the merry men proudly use for work. It'd been a while and the men have long missed having the little ones around.

Their run-in reminds Robin of how much he'd been able to rely on the men when Roland was a baby. For the first few months his son had barely been put down, instead spending his days being passed from one pair of arms to the next. Though he worried as much as any other father, he remembered feeling a certain security in knowing that there were more than a dozen pairs of eyes watching over his son just as vigilantly as his were. Having so many watchful eyes could be helpful should they inherit their four children.

Despite all these points Regina still held doubts.

"Robin I understand that the merry men are family and that you and Roland still feel very close to them," she said gently. "But they're still men of the Enchanted Forest. They all live as though they're still in that world."

"It's the way they're comfortable," he'd explained to her. "And there's nothing wrong with that."

"Not for them," said Regina, arching an eyebrow. "But our children will be living Storybrooke, Robin. This world is their home and they need someone who can show them how to live in it."

He reluctantly sighed. It was a valid point. The men had chosen to shirk most of this world's benefits in favor of remaining in the forest and keeping to the old ways.

"And let's not forgot about the incident we had with John…"

Robin rolls his eyes. "Regina…"

"Robin he shot my toaster! With a crossbow!"

"Fine!" he cries. She'd never been able to let that go, even if it had happened three years ago.

"We won't leave our children with the merry men."

Strangely enough, Belle is the next person they consider to be an option.

Regina is closing in on five months along when she arrives at the library with Clarissa to pick the boys up from the library. It'd become a bit of a habit for Henry to take his younger brother there after school.

She found Roland in the children's section with Belle looking for a book to read for class. At the sight of her Clarissa squealed with glee and raced over to wrap her arms around the librarian's legs. Belle had been a frequent babysitter for them in the past and both Clarissa and Roland adored her. Watching the patience she displays with her two younger children Regina starts to think about what a good influence she'd be on them both.

Belle was kind, nurturing and clearly intelligent. She loved children and was always happy to look after any baby or child she could get her hands on. If given the chance Regina thought she would make an excellent mother.

And Robin didn't disagree.

Well… not exactly.

"Of course, I think Belle is wonderful," he said, one evening as he gave her a foot rub. "But we also have to consider the company she keeps."

"You mean Gold," mumbled Regina, dejectedly. She'd nearly forgotten about him.

"I love Belle but she's never been able to let go of him," Robin sadly reminded her. "She and the dark one come as a pair. And I don't want him around our children any more than necessary."

"You're right," Regina sighed before solemnly nodding her head. "Belle's not an option."

It's six months into her pregnancy before she even lets him suggest the Charmings as an option. They'd returned home from her baby shower, an all-day affair planned by none other than Snow herself. The princess had arranged every last detail and had even managed to guilt nearly every woman in town into making an appearance. At the end of the day she'd made a heartfelt speech citing that even with everything that had happened between them Regina was still the greatest, fiercest mother she knew. It'd nearly brought Regina to tears. Not that she'd ever admit that.

Now Robin was pressuring her to choose the Charmings as their children's potential guardians.

"Name one good reason not to choose them," he challenges. "Just one and I'll let it go."

Regina bit her lip as she struggled to come up with an answer. She had to admit that the Charmings were not the worst option in town. They were brave and good. They spent a lot of time around the kids as it was, Clary and Neal were practically best friends and they were already Henry's grandparents.

But even with all of that the idea of choosing them just didn't sit right with her. She loved Snow and Charming, truly she did, but she just couldn't imagine letting them raise her children.

"The loft is too small," she lied.

"What?"

"Their home is not big enough," she insisted. "Robin we'd be adding four more children to their family when they've already got Neal sleeping upstairs and baby Eva in the bassinet next to their bed. They can't handle adding our kids to the mix. There's just not enough space. End of discussion."

"Emma and Hook?"

"What?"

"Emma and Hook," Robin repeats. "Do you think they'd take in the kids if we asked?"

Tilting her head, Regina silently considered it. She was eight months now. Big as a house and just as heavy. They sat at the kitchen table, matching mugs of tea in their hands. They'd been going around in circles with this argument. They'd run through all their friends and family and it wasn't the first time they'd considered Emma and Hook.

Regina was actually fonder of the idea of it than she'd like to admit. Emma and Hook were fierce protectors when it came to family. They had more than enough space in their home and could afford to take in the kids if necessary. Roland loved spending time with their dog, a shiny haired black lab they'd rescued from the shelter and Clarissa got along with them both. However, there was one tiny snag.

"Robin they don't want kids," she reminded him.

Emma had stated as much more than once and Hook had always agreed with her. They didn't plan to make children a part of their future. Pregnancy had been traumatic for Emma and Hook had been fine either way so they'd opted out. A decision that Regina more than respected.

"I know they don't want their own kids," said Robin. "But don't you think they'd considered taking ours if we were no longer here?"

"I know that they would," said Regina, thoughtfully. "but I need them to want to. I don't want our children feeling like burdens."

"I know," said Robin, reaching for her hand. "But we won't know how they feel until we ask?"

"Ask who what?"

They looked up to see Henry walking into the kitchen, a curious look on his face as he headed for the pantry. Sometimes it still surprised Regina how much Henry had grown up. She still remembered the days when he needed a step stool to reach the handle on the pantry door. Now he was pulling things off the top shelf for her.

"What's going on?" he asked.

"Well…" drawled Robin before looking over at Regina.

She sighed before nodding her head. They hadn't planned on telling anyone about their search for guardians, especially not the kids, but Henry was a special case. He was the oldest and if anyone deserved to voice an opinion on the subject it was him.

"Why don't you come sit with us," she said patting the chair next to her.

"Okay," Henry suspiciously drawled as he sat down. "What's going on? Is the baby okay?"

"Oh yes, the baby's fine," she quickly assured him, letting her hand run down her middle. God she didn't even know how to start this conversation. She looked over at Robin for support and he took over.

"It's just that with the new baby coming your mother and I have had to do some… extra planning," he said, carefully.

Henry curiously tilted his head. "Planning?"

"Yes," said Regina. "More specifically planning what would happen to the four of you if…"

She trailed off still unable to speak the words.

"If your mother and I were no longer here," Robin finished for her.

"Oh," breathed Henry, his eyes widening in surprise.

"Yeah," sighed Regina. "And we've been giving it a lot of thought…"

"More than you know," mumbled Robin.

"And," drawled Regina. She sent a warning look at her soulmate before turning back to her son. "And right now we're thinking of asking Emma and Hook if they'd be interested in being named guardians for you and your brother and sisters. So… how would you feel about that?"

She saw a few different emotions pass over her son's face over the next couple seconds but in the end the only one she could read was disbelief.

He scoffed before crossing his arms over his chest and shaking his head. "Yeah, that's not gonna happen."

Robin's head reared back in surprise at Henry's firm declaration. "Why? Do you think they wouldn't be interested?"

"I think it doesn't matter," Henry sharply replied. "Because if the worst does happen I'm taking care of Roland and Clary." He gestured toward his mother's stomach. "And the same goes for whoever's in there."

He spoke with so much conviction. The said his words as if he couldn't even believe they'd considered anyone besides him. For the next ten seconds he'd rendered them both speechless. They exchanged surprised looks as they tried to come up with something to say.

"Henry… that's incredibly sweet but… we couldn't possibly the leave the kids with you," sputtered Regina.

"Why not?" he replied shrugging his shoulders. "I'll be eighteen in a few months and I know we've had some close calls in the past but I'm sure you can both manage to stay alive until then."

"But… Henry being a parent isn't like babysitting," argued Robin. "It takes a lot to provide for three children. They'll need a home and food and clothes…"

"Then we'll stay here," said Henry. He looked over at his mother. "As long as you leave the house in our names then we'll always have a place to call home. And if we need money I'll get a job around town. Storybrooke practically runs on nepotism and I've got connections at the school, the sheriff's department, animal shelter and pawn shop. I'll find a place to work."

"And that's all well and good," said Regina, finally recovering from her initial shock. "But there's more to being a parent than just the money and shelter. It's about giving your brother and sisters what they need, being here for them."

"And I already am," stressed Henry, leaning forward in his seat. "Have you guys seriously not noticed all the slack I've been picking up these past few months?"

Robin scrunched his face in confusion. "Slack?"

"Yeah," said Henry nodding his head. "I know you guys have been busy with work and getting ready for the new baby but have you really not wondered why Roland's math scores have gone from D's to solid B pluses? It's because I've been tutoring him three days a week for the past five months so he can get caught up."

All Regina could manage in response was a soft "Oh." She had noticed Roland's grades steadily improving but she'd assumed it was because something had finally clicked for him. But now she remembered that Henry had been taking him to library after school for quite some time at this point.

"And have you noticed that Clary no longer cries about the monster in her room at night?" Henry pointed out. "It's because three months ago I pretended to check her room and told her that the monster in her closet was just a sugar-eating Snuffleupagus that was looking for midnight snacks. It's why she keeps leaving out marshmallows on her dresser before bed and why I keep getting up early to eat them before she wakes up."

"Is that who Stella is supposed to be?" asked Robin. Every night when his daughter reminded him to leave out marshmallows for "Stella" he'd just assumed she'd been talking about a new imaginary friend.

"Yes, Stella the Snuffleupagus," said Henry. "I even drew a picture and came up with a backstory for her so Clary would think she's a character from the storybook that she doesn't have to be afraid of."

"Oh," said Robin. Somehow it'd escaped his notice that she'd gone weeks without crawling into their bed for safety like she had before.

Henry sighed shaking his head. "Look I know it's hard for you guys to see me as more than some kid but you have to realize that the way you see me is the way I see them. They're my brother and sister. I love them. And if you can't be here to take care of them… then I will."

Regina felt her eyes growing hot and watery. "Henry…"

"You don't have to promise me anything now," he said. "It's not like you're dying tomorrow. Just… think about it."

And they did.

There room was extremely quiet when they finally got ready for bed. Robin brushed his teeth at the sink while Regina pulled on her pajamas, both of them thinking over everything Henry had said.

In all the months they'd been discussing the matter it'd never once crossed his mind to name Henry as a guardian to the younger children. The boy was still a child himself. Well that's not entirely true. He'd grown quite a lot since that day on the docks when Robin had first shook his hand, both in stature and maturity. He was thoughtful and responsible. Roland and Clary both looked up to him and no one knew their ticks and habits better than he did. Perhaps Henry was the best choice.

He rinsed his mouth and joined Regina in bed. Though she was tucked into the sheets she still sat up staring at a framed photo in her hand. It was one of the kids, all three of them, at the beach taken months after the Underworld nonsense. God they'd all grown up so much sense then, Clarissa had barely learned to sit up at the time. She'd taken the photo herself and placed it on her night stand to remind herself that no matter how hard things got she'd finally made it to her happy ending. But now it made her wonder would she be around to make it to theirs? And if not, then who would be?

"So…," Robin, settling next to her. "Henry."

She sighed. "Henry."

He pressed his lips together nervously before speaking. "Regina… I know it might sound crazy but…"

"It doesn't sound crazy." She cuts him off shaking her head as tears well up in her eyes. "I want it to. I want to say that it sounds insane to leave three of our children in the hands of our almost eighteen-year-old but it doesn't. I I trust him, more than anyone. And I think he'd take really good care of them."

Tears were running down her face now. "If we die I want to leave Henry in charge of the kids. I hate myself for that."

Robin's eyes went wide at her confession. Almost instantly her arms went around her, pulling her close as she continued to cry. "Regina… why would you say something like that?"

She shakes her head. "What if we die in the next couple months? He'll only be eighteen and stuck with two kids and a baby. What about his future?"

She exhaled trying to calm herself down. "It feels like we'd be stealing his freedom like…"

"Like they did to you when they forced you to be Snow's stepmother," Robin softly finished for her.

She goes silent then, remember how trapped she'd been in her role in the palace. How she'd been forced into a role she'd never wanted at the whims of Cora and Leopold and fate. How it'd hardened her heart to everyone, including Snow.

"I just don't want him to resent us after we're gone," she whispered.

Robin sighs, rubbing her shoulders. "I understand why you'd feel that way," he says. "But you have to see that it would be different for him than it was for you."

He turns to look her in the eye. "He loves his brother and sisters." He lets his hand fall to her bump. "Even the one he hasn't met yet."

She scoffs and rolls her eyes but still lays her hand on top of his. Just a few more weeks and they'd all get to meet their new baby girl.

"More importantly," Robin continues, "this is his choice. He wants to be there for them. It's why he let us know. And you know as well as I do that no one fights for this family to stay together more than he does."

She nods her head in agreement. "He's practically the only reason it even exists."

Some days she tries to imagine what this family would like without Henry. Her, Emma, the Charmings. How alone they all would be had that little boy not appeared in their lives when he did.

"We've gone through this town trying to find someone good enough to take care of them," said Robin. "But what maybe the best person to look after our children… is one of our children."

A small smile pulls on her lips as she looks up at him and nods. "Henry?"

"Henry."

Five weeks later they lay their baby girl in her bassinet for the first time.

The mobile above her crib plays a sleepy time lullaby as they look down on her.

Raven Lucy Locksely.

She's a beauty with midnight black hair (enough of it to surprise everyone), sky blue eyes and chubby red cheeks. Her parents look down at her completely hypnotized as she sleeps. They can't believe that after all these months she's finally here.

A soft knock at the nursery door pulls them away. They turn to see Henry poking his head in the room. "Can I come in?"

"Sure." Regina waves him over.

In an instant he crosses the room to look in on his new baby sister.

"Wow," he breathes. "I can't believe she's finally home. She still looks so tiny."

"I know," whispers Regina. "It's even harder to believe that you used to be just this small."

He softly chuckles in response but still keeps his eyes trained on the baby. Same as everyone else when she's in the room. For a moment the three of them stand around the crib in silence, marveling over the newborn as she sleeps. But then Robin pats Regina's shoulder and she nods in agreement. It's time.

She turns to her oldest son and takes a deep breath. "So Henry, Robin and I just wanted to let you know that we've discussed it and… we agree with you. If anything happens to us Roland and your sisters should stay with you."

He finally tears his eyes away from his sister. "Really?"

"Yes," said Robin, nodding his head. "We want this family to stay together if we're not here. And no one knows how to keep one together better than you."

"So long as you're at least eighteen then they'll be yours," said Regina. "But we want to make sure that you know that just because you'll be their only legal guardian doesn't mean that you'll have to do it all alone."

"We've checked in with the rest of the family," said Robin. "And they all promise to be there to help you."

It'd been the one fact that had pushed them over the edge. Before they officially named Henry their guardian they'd been sure to check that if the worst did happen that he wouldn't be alone. And they'd been pleased to discover that should Henry need to look after the children he'd have a family of heroes, saviors, woodsmen, pirates and even a librarian to make sure he had everything he needed.

"Thanks guys," said Henry, with a smile. "And I promise if I need anything I'll reach out."

"Good," said Regina, nodding her head. Robin cleared his throat and she suddenly remembered the other news they wanted to share with him. "And one more thing, Henry?"

"Yes?"

"How would you feel about being Raven's godfather?"

episode 7

high school, the pink ranger has some much stuf mick is helping her out after the usual .. turns out she has 4 clubs and she has a plan to be in 4 places

meanwhile lady odious has magic? her secret is getting drained so she can use the power star?

she is on the track club with brody chess club with blue campiung club with yellow and white archery club - boomerang arrow? - broke the distance record - ooh the principal - victor and monty - he goofs - he is in robin hood gear? - bees

they trained and she upgraded the ninja blaster - the other ranger wonder how she has the time

the monster appears - he wants the techno gadgets

sarah is a hologram - the monster stole it after it malfunctioned

back at the lab - they found sarah is in the hideout = she created a holo projector - so many sarahs - lol she is like nah on the monster might be able to use it

so the monster uses it for holo clones - big edition, galavanix = 8 of them

brody is sparing with preston

sarah sees them and says it is her fault - they split up from sarah so she find a solution

sarah activates all so she can split up the idea - bugs - blocking -regain control - stop the power source

mick is like... not going to end well

they try to deal with one of them

they try the upgrade but they are too strong - to the blaster

they rescue the people then report to sarah

the clones are fighting for sarah's attention - mick figured it would not work

mick teaches her a lesson - well he got her to teach herself

she recalls the clones and works on a solution - tempt him with more tech

the other rangers try to blaster the clone but failure

so she made one more and got him to take it - making it seem like he is doing something horrible

he absorbed it and... yep it is screwing him - a virus = she hade preston fooled - galav got a little hurt

so it is a showdown - water then earth - brody pushes them aside - final attack

hack got big and in comes the megazord - dragon formation apparently due to flight - the monster is going in space

Hades

The leader of the Cypress Base, Hades is a confident transman who leads with a rather cool head. In his past, he was a very feared individual known as “Hel, ruler of hell” due to his grip on the gang life of the region. He’s done things he’s not proud of and would likely never talk about. A skilled climber and dedicated to his job and training of his partner Drednaw Cerberus– he’s just a supportive dad figure. Has known Russell for many years, as they were partners in crime, and as mentioned, is a sort of father figure to Lethe. Persephone and Thanatos

Persephone Operator of Hades' base, and later on his lover. She's a gentle and doting operator with medical experience that is on par with the Joy family. Prior to becoming an operator, she was a therapist that specialized in ranger work. Unless something absolutely threatens your life, your secrets are likely safest with her. Thanatos The mechanic of Hades base, he does his job diligently even the parts no one likes and it takes a lot to get him to stop. Tired most of the time. Odette

A bright, patient, and big hearted young woman from the Hoenn region, working as a pokemon ranger--her mind is sharp, but she can be a little more oblivious than she’d like to admit when it comes to directions, which often gets her lost and has made her a constant trouble magnet. Isn’t very much a romantic despite appearances, but has garnered the attention of many because of her prim and demure appearance and kind personality. Rarely goes a day without someone trying to get a date out of her. Clumsy with her hands but light on her feet—took many years of ballet and fighting classes on her parents suggestion, is very fit despite her size. Was raised by a family of well known doctors and surgeons, the most notable being her father. Has a Swanna, Vee. Pomona

A cryptic person from the deserts of Unova, often scares people because of her gangly appearance, how she walks without making noise, and her plague doctor mask. Has an affinity for puns and also cultivating her image as a Local Cryptid in her spare time. Has a bit of a tragic backstory, but the important takeaways from that is that she has a hatred of doctors, the smell of hospitals, and herself. She works through her self-loathing over the course of her story, but for 97% of the story, wouldn't be caught dead with her skin showing, as a good majority of her skin below her neck is covered in scars. Self-conscious about her appearance to a fault, no matter the weather, she will always be seen with her plague doctor mask, long sleeves, and gloves. Little bit of a goofball, gets nervous easily. Has a slow burn crush on Odette. Is often caught stuffing nice smelling things in her beak. Has ageusia and nerve damage in most parts of her body below her neck, but especially her hands, so she drops things often. Has a Spritzee, Maggi! Athena

Quiet and shy, most people think Athena is either innocent/naive or coldhearted, but she sees and hears a lot more than they give her credit for. Once they get to know her, most people are surprised to find out that she has a wicked sense of humor, and loves to make puns. She has talent for stealth and moving silently, which is surprising considering her height, and often seems to just appear somewhere (usually startling someone). In general, she is calm, level headed, and takes almost everything in stride, but she has an undercurrent of anxiety behind her poker face. Between this and being a lonely child, she has read a lot of books and picked up an array of various skills. Some of these are useful (first aid skills, lock picking), some of them aren't (encyclopedic knowledge of regional myths, random facts). She is fiercely loyal to Pokemon (especially her partner) and the small handful of individuals that have gotten past her many masks. Her partner Pokemon is an Absol named Tyche, who befriended her when she was fairly young. Lethe (Apprentice)

The least energetic of the apprentices, Lethe is a troubled but soft hearted boy who didn’t intend to become a Ranger at all–he was living by himself with no income for years, on account of having no parents to speak of (abandonment issues ahoy)–his recommendation to the academy was a complete accident, but the school had free boarding and it gave him a purpose, so he took the opportunity while he had it. While he loves what he does, and has made two good friends out of this, he’s struggling to come to terms with his issues and struggles to keep up with his peers. He tends to be a trouble magnet, so the plot hammer will not be kind to him umu. He’s a bit indecisive, timid and an easy crier, but he genuinely loves pokemon/people and wants to be of use to everyone somehow. He’s not much of a logistical thinker but he’s definitely not a pushover physically, which comes in handy–he has no partner pokemon for plot reasons. Robin

Hailing from the Sinnoh region Robin came to Asnia to become a ranger. She’s a very kindhearted person but can be a bit dense when it comes to obvious things, but that doesn’t stop her from jumping over the moon and back to help someone in need. She’s very strong and often trains with one of her partner pokemon, Jesper the bunnelby. (Jesper’s hole digging often causes more chaos then it should)

Cassian:

He’s outgoing, happy go lucky kind of guy! He enjoys listening to others talk, and likely to ask you how your entire day went without interrupting. His jokes tend to be positive and usually uplifting and a lot of people just generally enjoying his company. Light bit of a flirt, but he never continues if any hint of uncomfortableness. He’s very prone to smiling away his troubles. Any hints of sadness detected and asked about, he’ll immediately mask and deflect it in an attempt to keep from talking about it/bring down the mood. Sometimes he bottles it up too bad that those who care about him have to seriously sit him down and ask
