Something that annoys me about Stranger Things is that there is seriously no speculation that Robin is a lesbian.
She walked around the entirety of Season Three with boobs on her shoes, she wears an excessive ammount of hand jewellery, she says shit like "these ladies are hot, so very hot" and "especially if they're babes right," she looks at Nancy with the most outrageous googly heart eyes EVER, she literally said to Vickie "I used to have this massive crush-" when talking about TAMMY THOMPSON. And despite all this, these motherfuckers still think she's into Steve. They are the most oblivious people EVER.

"it's really cool that all the gay people are born in june."
robins head snapped up to look at steve.
"what?!"
"yknow, pride month because gay people are born... in june."
"steve. not every queer is born in june, i- what?"
"yknow. as soon as it came out of my mouth... i knew it was wrong."
"my birthday is in december!"
steve sighs, "yeah. yeah, okay."
robin laughs, shaking her head. "you're pretty smart but damn steve. sometimes you can be a little dumb." she places a hand on his shoulder, smiling at him before shoving him over, effectively pushing him off the couch.
"yeah, it wouldn't really make since. my birthday is in august."
robin eyed him from her place on the couch. "did you just come out to me?"
happy pride month, have this lil thing

Steve pov
Steve looked around at everyone, he pinched at his skin and pulled at his hair. He wasn’t dreaming, Eddie was alive and he had kissed him.
Steve swore he heard A quiet “Woah” slipped from Eddie. He looked at the metal head, he looked like a deer in headlights.
“The fuck?” Dustin and Mike chimed in. It was them that reminded him there were children in the room.
“Alright everyone out” He turned his back to Eddie, “Eddie and I need to talk”
There were protests from the kids, especially Dustin.
“Hey if you don’t all leave right now I’ll make Hellfire living well Hell for all of you next session@ Eddie’s voice was loud and commanding. It was his Dungeon Master voice. Not surprisingly all the kids shuffled out of the Harrington house.
Steve made eye contact with Will as the young brunette was leaving, there was a look in his eyes, Steve couldn’t quite place it but it looked something like hope.
Nancy, Jonathan and Robin were all still standing in the door way.
“But what about them??? Also we need rides, we can’t really bike from here” Mike exclaimed as he walked though the door.
“Don’t worry Wheeler they’ll be right behind you” Steve told the curly haired teen.
Robin started protesting that but gave up after Steve gave her one of their platonic soulmate looks.
It took a bit but eventually it was just Steve and Eddie sitting on the floor of Steve’s giant den in his basement. They both just sat there for a bit, Steve don’t mind it though it gave him some time to think.
Surprisingly Steve was realitivly calm, he’d been 100% sure about his sexuality for a while now. Honestly it took Robin coming out to him while they were high for him to actually owlage how he felt. She was the only one to know that he was bisexual, he laughed to himself guess he was out to everyone.
“You know I’ve never heard you laugh, what’s the occasion” Eddie’s question had snapped him out of his thoughts
“Ah just never thought that’s how I’d come out to the kids, or Nance and Jonathan” Steve leaned back on his hands looking at Eddie. “Sorry about that by the way”
Steve watched Eddie’s head tilt to the side a confused look covering his face. “For what?”
“For kissing you” Steve paused, “I had a lot of time to think while you were in the hospital, most of my thinking was about you. You and your cocky smile when your fucking around with the kids, your long hair and how pissed I was they cut it for the surgeries. The way you’d carry yourself in school, you were always so confident but not in the way Jason or billy were. You embraced your peculiarities and showed them off. and fuck man your gutair playing is indescribable, it save the world. I think after thinking about you for so long I realized…” he trailed off, Eddie wasn’t listening “never mind I crossed a line and fucked up and now I’m going to lose one of the best people I’ve met”
“What did you realize?” Eddie asked quietly
“That I loved yo-” Steve didn’t get to finish because Eddie has pressed his lips to Steve’s. The kids was sweet and soft and perfect just like Steve had pictured.

Love Is Patient, Love Is Kind;
Tumblr media
Summary: Robin Buckley is not the 1st person to come out to Steve. Trigger warnings: Period typically homophobia, implied child abuse, secret keeping, and friends falling out.
This is a Tommy Hagan, Steve Harrington, and Robin Buckley friendship fic. Don't like, don't read.
Be kind in the comments.
🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈
Ever since July 4th, 1984, Steve Harrington has been keeping a secret from his new BFF, Robin Buckley.
One he planned to take to the grave.
Because despite popular belief, Steve Harrington was not an idiot and knew when to keep his mouth shut.
Most of the time, anyway.
And this was one of those times, because no one could ever know that Robin Buckley wasn't the first person to come out to him. Not even Robin herself.
He wasn't keeping this secret because he didn't trust Robin. No, that wasn't it. That was never the reason. Would never be the reason he kept a secret from her because she was the first person in his life he had ever been able to fully trust since—
Since Tommy Hagan and Carol Perkins.
And that was the problem.
Steve Harrington trusted Robin Buckley more than anyone else in the world and would tell her nearly everything that wasn't necessary to lie about.
Nearly everything.
Because there was one thing that he could never tell anyone—not even Robin herself—because he knew that outing people wasn't cool. Even if it was outing them to someone who was also different.
It wasn't safe or fair to do so.
It was a breach of trust.
Something you couldn't undo or take back.
Something that would darken your soul even if you weren't close to the person you were doing it to.
Which was exactly why Steve Harrington at 18 years old would never tell Robin Buckley that she wasn't the first person to ever come out to him.
Why he would never tell her that a drunken Tommy Hagan was.
Because that would be betraying the promise he had made so many years ago to 13 year old Tommy Hagan.
13 year old Tommy Hagan who had not yet hurt anyone and trusted him more than anyone else in the whole wide world. Who trusted him enough to tell him that he liked boys and girls, with tears in his eyes, when he didn't even trust his parents enough to do that.
13 year old Tommy Hagan, who a 12 year old Steve Harrington had promised to take the secret to the grave if that was what Tommy wanted. Who Steve had promised to support in anyway the older boy wanted.
Which turned out to be never speaking of the moment again, even to him.
Never acknowledging the words that had been said and the promises that had been made.
Ignoring the longing glances that Tommy only threw at him, Carol, and guys he had, had crushes on over the years.
Steve understood Tommy's reasoning for pretending like that part of him didn't exist,  even if he didn't like it or what Tommy did to cover it up.
Because he knew what the world was like.
How his parents would react if Steve even thought about looking at another boy in that way.
The world wasn't ready for the likes of Tommy Hagan and Robin Buckley.
Even if that wasn't fair.

Thinking about robin being queer and knowing she was queer and having to deal with it for her whole life. She had to research queer culture herself, and she painted her nails in that order that meant “gay person here!!!!”, and she wore a carabiner with keys clipped onto her jeans. She got a few looks from people in the hallway at school, but no one ever approached her. She never outright said anything to anyone, and she wasn’t planning on it.
That was, until Steve Harrington. She hadn’t expected, when she first got the job at Scoops Ahoy and found out that the other employee was popular, basketball playing, King Steve Harrington, that they would become close. She had a plan, going in that she would do the bare minimum to work with him. She would never purposely start a conversation with him, and she would only ever talk to him about work, nothing personal, ever.
But she didn’t expect this new version of Steve. This Steve who was kind and struck out with girls and was apparently a parent to a bunch of middle schoolers. This Steve who tried to banter with her and on the first day on the job, apologized for anything that he might’ve done in high school. This Steve who had fallen off his throne and was insecure about not getting into any colleges. This Steve was one that Robin felt she could be friends with.
Even though they were becoming friends, Robin hadn’t meant to come out to him. She had never imagined coming out to anyone, really. She had fantasized about it, sure, but it was never serious. When she came out to Steve, she was high as hell and had just gotten tortured. She wasn’t really thinking as she told Steve about Tammy Thompson, but she didn’t regret it afterwards. She was so glad when they started laughing together and when he didn’t abandon her.
Then all the shit with the Mind Flayer happened, and the mall burned down, and she and Steve had to find jobs again. Luckily, they found a job together at Family Video, and although they had the worst manager, they had a lot of free time where they could watch movies together or just talk. Every time Steve made a small comment about the girls in whatever movie they were watching or girls that had been in the store, she became more surprised about how accepting he truly was. It wasn’t just being okay with her queerness, it was full on pointing out pretty girls and making fun of her when she stared too long at someone checking out at the store. It was truly loving her for who she was, which was what she wanted for so long. She had never expected it from Steve Harrington of all people, but she was so glad that it was him in the end. Her platonic soulmate.
Still, even though she had Steve, she still wanted a queer friend. Which was why she was so glad when Eddie joined their little group. She had noticed the hanky in his pocket back at school, and she knew what it meant because of all the research she had done all those summers ago. She knew they couldn’t talk about their preferences in people to date or take to bed in the middle of this war happening against Henry/Vecna/One, so she figured she’d wait until after they got out of the Upside Down and there was space to talk.
But then, he died. And she was devastated that the first cool queer person she had found, who was loud and open and seemed really nice despite everything, was dead. And they never even got the chance to talk.

The party, of course, immediately accepted Will and Robin when they came out. Dustin couldn't help but ask the question because he's a nosy little shit.
Dustin: *looking at Robin* If you had to pick a man, though, who would you go for?
Robin: Steve. No contest. Only in a parallel universe, though. And parallel me still has to like women. There's no universe where I'm straight. Not that I have anything against heterosexuality.
Steve: Eddie. *everyone stares at him* Oh, was that question not directed at both of us?
Eddie: It's okay, big boy. If I were gay, I'd go for you, too.
Argyle: *whispering* Oh, man, Steve and Eddie don't know about bisexuality.
Steve: You whispered that to me.
Argyle: Oh, sorry. *turns to Jonathan* Oh, man, Steve and Eddie don't know that bisexuality exists.

tw// period typical homophobia
will had come out.
the party took it badly.
but steve and robin. well. they didn't. robin held him as he cried and steve went to talk to the stupid little shits will called his friends.
"what, steve?" mike sneered as he opened the door.
"move it wheeler," he pushed past him, "lucas, dustin, max, front and center." el had stayed back with will and robin. she didnt understand why the others were so mad. two boys could love each other, surely that wasn't worse than the mindflayer. right?
the group faced steve, staring at him defiantly. "well," dusting asked expectantly. "shut it, henderson. let me speak. i don't appreciate the way you reacted to will. he has been through many MANY things and supported you through them ALL. Mike, you blew him off for El, Lucas you blew him off for Max, Dustin you blew him off for Suzie-"
"wait-"
"quiet mayfield im not done. you're not innocent in this either. you should have been there for will. especially from what you told me about billy before he died." steve snapped, maxs head dropping low. "you're right, steve. sorry."
steve scoffs. "don't say sorry to me. and the rest of you, really? this is what scares you? two boys in love? i can't believe this. i thought you were better than that. you of ALL people know what it's like to be ridiculed and cast out for who you are."
"but- what- what about AIDs?" mike spluttered. the two others nodding hesitantly in agreement.
"seriously? you have faced interdemensional terrors and you're worried about... AIDs? something that can affect ANYONE? god. dustin i thought you were smarter than to fall for that. and lucas, i just. never took you to stoop to mikes level." steve sighs and shakes his head disappointedly.
he can see the regret on their faces. "whatever, i'm leaving."
"wait, can we come?" mike shouts desperately.
steve scoffs again, harsh, "no. stay here and think about what you did. and how you hurt will because you're too stupid to think. max, let's go."
"what? why does she get to go?" dustin asks, a hand out in her direction.
"because, max was coerced, and she never said that shit you guys did. im going to talk to her too on the ride home, and then she is going to apologize to will." he said in finality.
"why do you even care about this steve?" it was lucas who spoke, and it was... sincere. steve sighed and faced him. "because it effects me too. some of the best people i know are gay. including myself. i just... i never thought YOU guys of all people would react like this." he shook his head sadly. "do your research like you like to do henderson. maybe then you'll figure out why i'm not going to talk to you anymore." and with that he left, not looking back to catch the devestated look on dustin's face.
"cmon max." he shouted over his shoulder, only waiting for her to get in the car and buckle her seat belt.
he drove away with the hope those idiots would get their heads out of their asses.
