Fascinating, even if sadly misplaced expectations in the end.
Tumblr media
Okay so… I’ve gotten so distracted talking about the Atlas that I didn’t make a post about this beauty! Which is a crying shame. Because when it comes to the Hammerhead Robeast, as I call her, I have two major contentions:
1. Haggar has likely retrieved Sincline and is using Lotor’s designs and research for her own purposes, and the Hammerhead is merely a prototype for what’s to come
and
2. I don’t think the podded Altean removed from Hammerhead’s body was only a battery.

Everytime I think I'm free, Voltron comes and grabs me in a choke hold. So I'm dragging yall down with me. Here's season summaries of the Voltron Rewrite I'm working on that has taken over my life. I call it my Bootstrap AU which will make sense later.
Inhales* yes this happening...
Season 1 -Defenders of the Universe
Garrison student(Lance, Hunk, and Pidge), expelled student Keith, and Lieutenant Shirogane suddenly find themselves in an alien castle courtesy of a giant Blue Mechnical Lion. Upon arrival they stumble into a 10,000 year long war against an Alien Race called the Galra. Voltron, an ancient weapon, is the only way to stop them, however, no one knows where it is. Follow the Crew aboard the Altean ship as they attempt to get the ship operational, track down lions, and discover their destiny as fated Paladins of Voltron all in a fight against the Galra. Season 1 ends with the Paladins forming Voltron for the first time and becoming Defenders of the Universe
Season 2 - The Voltron Coalition
Now that Voltron has finally been found and formed, the Paladins and Alteans attempt to form allies and liberate planets. Follow our crew as they free planets, negotiate with rebel forces, and infiltrate Galra occupation. All the while searching for a mysterious Ulaz who rescued Shiro and Ulaz's mysterious organization. Season 2 ends with the Paladins meeting the Blade of Marmora and one of their leaders, Lotor, disgraced Prince of the Galra.
(Let's address the elephant in the room. Lotor. Okay, so when I was planning my rewrite, I realized that Lotor is both so compelling and so flat. So, instead, in my rewrite, Lotor is a disgraced prince (still like the original). He sees how the empire is hurting his people who are just civilians, and when he tries to reason with his father, he is disgraced. Lotor didn't make the Blade, but he allied with them in an attempt to return the Galra to what they once were. Lotor is somewhat selfish because if it was between Galran citizens or another planet, he'd pick his people. He only rebelled because he saw how his father was hurting his people. He doesn’t actually care about the universe, his people are what he values, but that changes with *character growth*)
(Also Pidge has found Matt by the end of this season)
Season 3 - The Galran Empire
Season 3 follows our crew and the Voltron Coalition as they formulate plans to end the war at its head. They will form an alliance and plan with the Blade and Lotor. This will be an all out attack on Zarkon including the allies in the Coalition. Half the season will be the plan in motion with multiple parts in an attempt to finally stem the problem at its root. The season ends with Shiro and Lotor dealing the final blow on Zarkon and a rogue wormhole begins to pull him through, but in Zarkon's rage drags Shiro with him.
Season 4 - A New Era
With the loss of Shiro fresh in their minds, Voltron struggles to find stability in this new era. First they realize that despite Zarkon being defeated, the Galra empire is still a threat so they must be able to form Voltron again. *Cue lion switches no matter how much I hate them... Now the Paladins will be allied with Lotor as he attempts to claim the Galran Throne. Throughout they will face Haggar, Robeasts, and the dying flames of the Galran empire. During this chaotic period, they will searching for Shiro and Sam Holt. The season ends with the Kral Zera where Lotor ascends the throne.
Season 5 - Fires of Purification
After facing defeat during the Kral Zera, one of Zarkon's top generals, Sendak begins to gather the remaining "loyal Galra" including Haggar to form the Fires of Purification. This season will continue the search for Shiro and Sam while also being stuck in a Galran Civil War. Voltron, Lotor, and the Coalition fight to stop Sendak from gaining control of the Universe. The season ends with Sendak offering a trade. Shiro and Sam for Lotor. (Like in the actual season 5 because I liked what it did for the story). Voltron and Lotor form a plan and rescue them as Sendak retreats with his tail between his legs.
Season 6 - Moving Foward
With the win against the Fires and the return of Shiro and Sam, it seems things are looking up, but something isn't quite right. With little fanfare Sam chooses to return to Earth to prepare them for the universe. This season is mostly made up of interpersonal conflicts and "what now". The universe is mostly free save for a few pockets of Galra uprising that the Coalition can handle relatively easily without Voltron. The Paladins face the problem of what they should do now and if they can even go back to how things were before the war. While also worrying about Sendak and the remnants of the Fires of Purification. Throughout this, Shiro is also acting really weird. Cut to the real Shiro, but on a Space Whale. (Yes I'm bringing back the weird time distortion whale) When Zarkon grabbed Shiro they landed on a space Whale. So Shiro is trying to survive and get back to Voltron by himself with only Zarkon's corpse as company. Shiro is the one who discovers the Altean Colony (in my rewrite, Haggar is the one running the colony) and he then discovers Haggar's plan to trick Voltron with a clone of him. It's a mystery thriller season switching between the Paladins and the real Shiro as he desperately attempts to get back to his crew to warn them before its too late. The season ends with Shiro warning them too late and Haggar's plan succeeds. Voltron is torn from their allies and catapulted across the universe along with a lost Romelle.
Season 7 - Dead Sector 73
(Ok before I continue the summary, I'm going to explain what I did with Earth. So Weblums eat dead planets in order to use that quintessence to make new solar systems and planets. In my rewrite, Earth's solar system and the space sector around it was a series of dead planets Weblums ate a long time ago and Earth is the first planet to begin exhibiting life in this previous dead sector. Earth is the first living planet in Dead Sector 73. Okay now onto the season summary.)
Sam returns to Earth and begins preparing them for the Galaxy. Back to the Paladins, Haggar has successfully removed Voltron from the equation and begins to rally allies to the Galra's previous motives and moves to retake the universe. Voltron finds themselves lost in Dead Sector 73, a section of the universe Weblums have already eaten and has begun the process of life. They realize they can't reach their allies through comms or anything. But they notice they are somewhat close to Earth. So they set off to reach Earth in the hopes of communicating with the Coalition. When they reach Earth, however, they find Sendak has taken over Earth as a last ditch attempt to get revenge on the Paladins for destroying the empire. And on top of that, that they have been missing for nearly a year. (Weird time distortion stuff like the space whale because of the dead space). They also discover that Sendak is the reason they can't use their comms as he's jamming all signals that travel outside the solar system. The season ends with them defeating Sendak and finally getting ahold of their allies.
(Now I'm going to do some more world building stuff. This is information previous seasons would originally have already told, but I'm putting it here. So the Blades have the motto "Knowledge or Death" and I want to use that somehow. So in my rewrite, the Blade sort of stole the philosophy from the ORIGINAL Galran empire. The war began not because of quintessence poisoning, but because the Galra believed Knowledge or Death. It was a disagreement on ethics and how far you should go in the pursuit of science and knowledge. This disagreement about how to handle the quintessence plane between Zarkon and Alfor sparked the initial conflict as Zarkon wanted to save his wife no matter what. However, due to millenia of exposure to quintessence it degraded Zarkon's mind to the point that he became the villain the show knows today)
Season 8 - Tomorrow and Yesterday
When Voltron and Earth finally reach the Galatic Stage, they discover Haggar has been reigning terror over the galaxy using the Alteans from the colony. While the Coalition and the Galra of Lotor's empire are holding ground, they are beginning to lose. This is when it's revealed that after Zarkon lost his mind to quintessence, Haggar was the one running the show. She must have progress, and now Alfor and the Alteans are no longer in the way for it. (Haggar is still Honerva and born Altean). This season focuses on defeating Haggar and freeing the Alteans from her brain washing. In the end, Honerva destroys all universes by attacking the quintessence plane in pursuit of "scientific knowledge." The Paladins kill Honerva but realize that everything is gone. This is when the Lions come to them. They reveal that sacrificing themselves can restore their universe. "Restore our universe? But what about all the others?" The Lions tell their Paladins that they in themselves are a Causal Loop. The Lions must be sacrificed to restore their universe, and sacrificing them in the quintessence plane it causes them to appear in the past as the materials that Alfor uses to create the Lions. The Lions are forever in a perpetual loop being created and destroyed to maintain the universe. However, each time they do this, they are sent back to another universe as well. It's a multiplying paradox. They are created and destroyed infinite times to restore everything Honerva destroyed. (I did this because I wanted to include the multiple universes the show had, but also, according to my rewrite, the original Voltron could also technically be canon somewhat. It just that in that universe. Allura sacrificed herself, causing the Lions to no longer go through the loop). When the Paladins return, they realize the quintessence plane is sealed off. No one in their universe can ever reach it again. The universe is saved, and the Paladins walk forward to tomorrow, knowing that yesterday is in good hands.
The End
Okay so that was a lot. I hope that if you reached the end of this, you enjoyed it. Do you think I improved it? Or maybe it's just as convoluted and bad as the original, but I tried my best to take all the ideas from Voltron and fit them coherently. Since these were just season summaries there's a lot of stuff I didn't include that I am including in my in depth rewrite like Keith being half Galra, and shipping and stuff. But this rewrite has been eating at my brain for two weeks so I had to put it somewhere.
The reason it's called the Bootstrap AU is obviously because of the Causal Time Loop. No real reason why I added it, I just thought it was fun and funky and shows how the Lions are things that the characters can never truly understand.

Watching Voltron for the 1st Time: S7 Ep 12-13
Somehow I am still watching, still present, still accounted for. Stumbling across this clusterfuck in the wild? Have a long explanation of how we got here, or if you prefer shorter explanations, I got recommended this by a middle schooler whose respect I very much NEED (so she takes me seriously when I tell her about science), and now I've gotten far enough along that I feel like I have sunk enough cost to NEED to finish it. I make a list of what I like and don't like and then ramble at the end of a run of a few episodes. I have now finished seven fucking seasons of this show. I'M ALMOST DONE FREE MEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Rare! A Good Decision!
Obligatory Shiro eyeliner appreciation comment
Veronica is so pretty and I am so gay
I'm really struggling here guys uhhhhhhhhhhhhh the artists draw earth very pretty our lil marble-y home looks lovely
I am happy Shiro gets to ruin Sendak. Will we explore the fact that he does it with an arm weapon that resembles Sendak? No. But the thought that it might have happened in a world where this show was actually developed with any time at all is nice
I actually really like the Shiro and Sendak fight. Very nice environmental use, very good stakes, solid motivation.
I am also very okay with Keith getting to murk Sendak. "As many times as it takes" and all that. [EDIT since apparently this seemed unclear. I am okay with this because I think Shiro as a character is shown as being very burdened by having been forced to kill BY Sendak. Shiro not having to kill Sendak, to me, in a better show, could be representative of the burden of having to kill being lifted from him at last. idk what to tell you man. That kind of story would speak to me as meaningful]
I have so little nice to say about robeasts but at least they remind me of the fun stuff in OG Voltron.
The new robeast is a great Haggar moment
Self sacrifice is a very poorly handled theme of this show fr but I can theoretically appreciate it
If I had any goodwill left in me for this show I would be like "What a great way to set up season 8 with the Altean in the robeast" but I don't so I will just say in a better show it'd be a good move but I have faith they'll bungle it.
Typical. A Bad Decision.
I cannot believe this fucking launch sequence has to be so long every time bro I can't take it anymore
The technobabble in this show bro I "Particle emission amplification" I can't do this anymore let's cross beams like in Ghostbusters I am PHYSICALLY tired as a result of this shit. The Death Star never explained to me how it worked with made up science words. The Death Star just murked a planet on camera and we comprehended the threat. SEE MY POINT VOLTRON????
In all honesty the second you have to explain battle strategy to your viewers mid-fight scene rather than just letting the fight play out you've failed to make it work.
STOP EXPLAINING EVERYTHING WITH YOUR FAKE MADE UP SCIENCE OMFG YOU DON'T NEED TO EXPLAIN YOU JUST NEED TO D O THINGS IK YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO THAT
This air fight really has so many moving parts that were just. Not adequately planned for and. Well. Usually I say the fights are a strength of this show. This certainly was not the case here. AND THIS IS A SEASON FINALE???
We've reached a point where not a single paladin feels like even their little trope selves.
I am OKAY with Keith killing Sendak because I think in a better show Shiro's original "I need Sendak dead" moment would've been a big thing for him (it makes sense. He lost his head back in season 1 and launched him into space. Having him NOT have to kill Sendak now after being forced to kill in the arena by Sendak? Okay!) but this moment is just robbed of ANY of that because. Well. WELL. THE SHOW NEVER EXPLORES ANY OF THAT. SO. YAY SENDAK DEAD IG BUT IT MEANS NOTHING NOW
I also think really missed opportunity to have that mean something in that we haven't seen Keith and Shiro really speak AT ALL since Shiro's mind controlled clone tried to murder Keith and Keith broke him free and then Keith had Shiro's dead consciousness transfered to the clone body like what even are they to each other now. Show has Keith say they're brothers, then they don't act like siblings or really ANYTHING??? And now I'm supposed to think Keith murking Sendak matters NOT COMPARED TO ANYTHING ELSE HE'S DONE AND CERTAINLY NOT TO THEIR RELATIONSHIP WHICH DOESN'T EXIST THIS SEASON
Everything in this show becomes a giant mecha inevitably and I think this is modestly lame and uncreative
For the record I predicted the Atlas becoming a giant mecha a few episodes ago and I still think it's kind of lame
The IDGAF Atlas truly does nothing for me I am NOT moved
Self sacrifice is a very poorly handled theme of this show and practically it pisses me off that the show does nothing to really drive home how significant it is. With the blades that die, with Keith pulling that move at Naxela, with Shiro, with the paladins now, it goes on. If you want to examine self sacrifice but you're unwilling to look at what it does to people, if you're unwilling to look at people's relationships and the love that DRIVES people to do that, then you shouldn't! There is no self sacrifice without someone to sacrifice yourself FOR.
Bro what is Axca doing here CAN WE NOT HAVE THAT POOR GIRLIE EXIST OUTSIDE OF THE CONTEXT OF SOME FUCKING MAN FIRST IT WAS LOTOR NOW IT'S KEITH ISTG SHE IS NOT A PERSON TO THESE WRITERS I AM SO MAD FR
I finished this season and I feel nothing at all! Wow! Here's the thing right. This show has a lot of potential tucked away in a soup of bad decisions and a supremely rushed development. I WANT to appreciate what could've been.
But that also feels like appreciating something that is entirely constructed. Yeah, if there'd been a lot of things going differently this show could've been good. If my mom had balls she'd be my dad, if you will. I can't appreciate what's not there. I just. Man! Plenty of things have pretty good concepts. If the actual execution isn't there behind it, there's nothing. Most sci fi has a fun concept. I mean come on, "What if some people got shot into space and there were ALIENS and GIANT ROBOTS" is really hard to make seem boring as an idea. So like. When I mention good ideas being in this show as the only positive that's like... just the fact that the genre conventions are FUN.
I get it man. I get that making a whole animated show in under three years is an impossible task. WHICH. BY THE WAY. IS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T DO IT! It's just. Unthinkable to me that anyone thought this was a good idea. When I am done with this show and therefore unafraid of spoilers/fandom interpretation leakage into my interpretation of the text, I am going to seek out interviews and explanations with showrunners because it is BAFFLING to me that anyone thought this timeline was a good idea.
I've said before that the story feels like it's just moving characters from A to B to C without much thought as to the journey. The meat on the bones. The depth to the story. And that kind of. HAPPENS with first drafts. It does! And you can see the first draft traces all over the show– characters suddenly changing in characterization with very little explanation (cough Lance and Allura and Keith) (Lance's characterization is all over the damn map! That's because they probably MEANT for him to have a pretty significant development as the audience's surrogate, but they just. Did not have time to write the in-betweens) (Allura just doesn't get nailed down at ALL and especially the second they throw Lotor in they forget about anything they had established about her) (And Keith is. Well. The fucking 180 they did on him to the point where he is now. Boring. Without showing us anything)
The plot itself has SO MANY significant moments happening offscreen, or in exposition dumps, or in flashbacks to things we didn't see! There's threads brought up and abandoned (the Blade of Marmora is being hunted down, the fact that Lotor made Voltron his representative to the Galra empire and that's never addressed, hell even Shiro's time as the arena champion!) that would also probably get worked out and refined WITH TIME.
There's also a really spectacular amount of gays that got buried this season. Which. Uh. Makes me a lil uncomfortable! Ezor and Zethrid our space lesbians, fucking Adam. Hell even Shiro himself if you really want to nitpick lmfao. No gay left unburied! There's characters that they just have no clue what to do with (Acxa) that are likely remnants of some plan that never came to fruition.
This show is underbaked! It didn't finish marinating before they threw it in the oven and it CERTAINLY didn't finish cooking in the oven. You can dress it up any which way you want, it doesn't WORK.
And that's a shame because there's a lot of talent on the show! I've spoken before about how great the performances are, how beautiful the art is, and when the writers have something substantial they've written, it's really really lovely (the Keith and Shiro fight and in general their development through the first six seasons is excellent and has subsequently just been lost in the season 7 shuffle) (I really loved Allura and the Balmera as well). But there's just SO MUCH that doesn't have any development.
It's a children's show (or at a minimum geared to middle/very early high schoolers) and they've got characters KILLING other characters and that's never explored! I don't understand how this came to be! Main characters killing other characters on screen in ANY work of fiction, even those for adults, is typically treated with gravity!
There is also how poorly this show handles race which..... I think is also something that would've benefitted from Further Marination Before Attempting To Finish It Off. All of the things I've mentioned about it in prior posts are not in and of themselves inherently problematic if they are handled with some sort of grace.
I do not think this draft of Voltron possessed much grace.
Ultimately the themes of this show just. Are lacking in every way. What is the point of this show? Self sacrifice? In some sense? But that's certainly not explored. To show us absolute power corrupts absolutely? It doesn't! Not in canon! Oppression and colonization are bad? Certainly not a narratively challenged idea in the text!
Ultimately I think the only thing this show successfully says is "Hey isn't space pretty? Isn't it fun to draw bigass robot lion spaceships? Isn't this fight cool?" Which. I think is kind of a shame because of how much the show brings up and either fails to address or just. Reinforces (again, the symbol of peace in this universe is a weapon)
None of the characters are friends, the few that have meaningful relationships are just kind of dropped or forgotten about, the characters don't feel like themselves. I feel like they're all just dolls being moved around. An empty husk of a figure so you can choose your favorite color and a toy they pilot and pretend YOU are your favorite trope, buy it now!
And maybe I was the real clown to hope for more than that when that's what this show was about all the way back in its first iteration, but I don't feel like it's my fault when the openings of this show promised so much, only to deliver on none of it.
ANYWAYYYYYYYYy uhhhhh idk I do have so many fucking thoughts as a result of this show so send me asks DM me do whatever if you wish to access more of them bc I feel like my brain is going to explode like there is so much about this show in it that is. Giving me great distress.
PS: I’m editing this to add that if you don’t get where I’m coming from with something, you can always ask! I’ll clarify, we can discuss it. But I really would appreciate if you come into it in, yknow, good faith given the fact that I am a person YOU DONT KNOW and assuming that you have a better picture of what I mean about something than I do is kinda unfair to me.

SBG Voltron AU - Part 3!
Tumblr media
Chapter 1 <- Here Chapter 2 <- Here
Before this chapter starts I have some things to day about some of the names and the plot. Okay first. I skipped episodes 2-3 because I think they're boring and nothing much happens, but I did recap them. Second, there's a very very minor character in SBG that Charlie talks to, his name is Hudson.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hudson is Haxus, Sendak's right hand.
Tumblr media
Continue for Chapter 3:
The newly-formed Voltron paladins, Tyler, Aiden, Taylor, Logan, and Ben were able to defeat Charlie, the galran commander that attacked planet Arus.
A few days later, after intense training to be able to form Voltron again, while some of the team was getting to know the local arusians and Tyler and Logan were trying to locate Logan’s grandfather on the wrecked ship, the team was attacked by a Robeast. This Robeast was a massive version of a monster that Tyler had fought during his time in Maverick’s prisons. Thanks to the Tyler’s knowledge, the team was able to take down the Robeast with no casualties. ——— “The monster fell from the sky! It was an epic battle, but Voltron was victorious!” The king of the arusians cheered. The arusians that were supposed to represent Voltron fell over. “No. I said, Voltron was victorious!” The crowd cheered as the actors quickly fixed their mistake. “Thank you, Your Majesty, for that… wonderful production.” Ashlyn smiled, holding a small device in her hands. She turned to the crowd. “It saddens me that we must leave tomorrow, but we must continue our battle with Maverick and spread peace throughout the universe.”
The red head turned back to the King Arusian. “Your Highness please accept this gift.” Ashlyn held out the small device in her hand for the arusian. “This will allow you to contact us anytime you need help. Arus will be the first planet in the Voltron Alliance!”
The Arusian king turned to the crowd, “Hoorah!” He exclaimed holding up the device in his hand. The crowd cheered. “You know we need something like that,” Aiden suggested to Ben and Logan. “What?” Logan asked. “You know, like, a cheer,” Aiden smirked, “Like, a team cheer that we do.” he elaborated, his eyes bright with mischief.
Ben nodded while Logan looked suspicious. “Example?” Logan crossed his arms.
Aiden looked up at the ceiling for a moment before a light bulb went off in his head. “How about, uh “I say Vol” and you say “Tron.” Vol!” “Voltron?” Logan responded, his voice laced with skepticism. “No. No. No. The instructions are in the cheer,” Aiden shook his head. “I say Vol, you say Tron. Vol!” “Voltron,” Logan responded again, this time with less skepticism but more confusion.
Aiden sighed in disbelief. “We’ll work on it,” He told Logan before taking a sip of his drink. It was extremely bitter and gross. It sent a jolt through Aiden’s body. He groaned before turning to Alex near by. “Alex, what is this?”
“Oh, this is Nunvill, the nectar of the gods.” Alex explained.
“It tastes like hot dog water and feet,” Aiden frowned, looking down into the cup. Alex nodded, before dipping his fingers in his glass and tossing it towards his hair. “Yeah, makes a wonderful hair tonic as well,” Aiden bent over and threw up at that. Alex chuckled before walking up to Tyler who was standing guard at the entrance to the castle. “Not feeling well? Try some Nunvill. Settles the stomach and brightens your smile,”Alex humorously offered, holding out his glass.
Tyler furrowed his brows and shook his head, “I'm not sure we should be letting everyone wander in and out of the castle like this,” He looked off into the distance. “It doesn't seem safe,”
“Oh, these Arusians won't hurt anything much,” Alex winced as a plate shattered behind them. “Besides, it's only fair to let them see the inside of a castle that's been sitting on their planet for so long,”
“But who knows when Maverick will attack again? I'm going to do a perimeter check, just in case,” Tyler said, adjusting his armor before walking off. ——— Taylor walked up to Princess Ashlyn, “Hello Princess,” She greeted before jointing the red head leaning against the banister. Ashlyn looked over at the hispanic girl, “Is something on your mind Taylor?” “No,” Taylor shook her head, “Just…” She pointed down at the boys being idiots, “…didn’t want to hangout with them,” “Fair,” Ashlyn chuckled, “They are a bit rowdy and loud,” Taylor looked down at the dance floor for Logan. “He was just with Ben and Aiden,” Ashlyn looked down, “Who? Logan?”
Taylor nodded, her gaze scanning the crowd. "Yeah, he was with them but, now I can't find him." Ashlyn squinted her eyes, trying to catch a glimpse of Logan in the bustling crowd.
"There," Ashlyn pointed towards a corner of the hall where Logan was dumping food into his book bag. “What is he doing?”
“Let’s go find out,” Taylor suggested before starting to make his decent down the stairs.
As Taylor and Ashlyn approached Logan, they watched him hastily stuffing what looked to be an entire feast into his bag. He didn't notice them until Taylor cleared her throat, causing him to jump.
"Logan, what are you doing?" Ashlyn asked, her brows furrowing. Logan looked down at the ground for a moment before turning to the others, “I got some information from the galra cruiser that crash landed on Arus. About where my grandfather and friend might be,” “What?” Taylor asked, “Are you saying you’re leaving?” Logan looked down again, ashamed, “Yeah,” “But you can’t!” Ashlyn’s face turned hot red. “Logan, you’re one of five paladins, you have a sacred trust to defend the universe.”
"I know," Logan replied, his voice barely louder than a whisper. "But I have to find them. My grandfather, my friend...they're out there somewhere, and I can't just abandon them." He zipped up his bag, now bulging with food supplies, and slung it over his shoulder. “I should go tell everyone else,” He decided, leaving Taylor and Ashlyn stunned as he walked off to outside.
Outside, Logan walked up to Tyler, “Hey Tyler, there’s something I need to tell you,” ——— “Logan, no.” Tyler shook his head. “The download from the Galra ship was enough to at least get me in the right direction to start my search,” Logan explained to their small group that had gathered outside. “I have a pod all ready to go.” “You can't leave,” Aiden frowned, crossing his arms over his chest.
“You can't tell me what to do!” “If you leave, we can't form Voltron,” Tyler pointed out, “And that means we can't defend the universe against Maverick,” “You're not the only one with a family,” Aiden added, “All these Arusians have families. Everyone in the universe has families,” “Yeah, I have a family,” Ben interrupted, his phone speaking for him “They live on Earth. I want to be with them. Is that, like, a thing that can happen?” “You want to leave too?” Ashlyn asked, shocked.
Ben shrugged, before turning back to his phone, typing out his response. “Of course I do! Look, Voltron is super-cool, don't get me wrong, but I never signed up for a lifetime in space, fighting aliens.”
Aiden clenched his hands, before turning to Logan. “You're putting the lives of two people over the lives of everyone else in the entire galaxy!” He angrily shouted. “Aiden, that's not how a team works!” Taylor stepped in just as Aiden was about to grab Logan. “People have to want to be on it,” “They can't be forced,” Tyler agreed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Look. Logan, if you want to leave, we won't try to stop you. But really think about what you’re putting at stake here,” Everyone fell quiet for a moment. “I'm sorry. You're going to have to find someone else to pilot the Green Lion,” Logan decided, before walking off. Phantom, the little robot, whirled before following him.
“I can't believe it,” Ashlyn sighed, putting her hand on her forehead. “This team is already falling apart. How will we ever form Voltron?” ——— Alex walked onto the bridge. “Mind if I join you?” Alex asked Logan who was searching the computer for coordinations, “Heard you’re leaving the team?” “Yeah. I just need to get the coordinates for my destination,” Logan told him, “I have a pod ready to go and the bay door is open I just need the correct coordinates to start my journey,” Alex watched the green paladin for a few more minutes before Logan pulled a thumb drive of out the altean computer and started walking away.
Alex followed Logan out of the room, passing Phantom going towards the Castle’s crystal. “Hello Phantom,” Logan half continuously greeted before realizing he left his bot in the pod bay. “ALEX! LOOK OUT!” Logan pulled the Altean out of the way before the fake Phantom blew up. ——— The lights around the castle flickered off. “What’s happening?” Taylor asked Ashlyn.
“I'm not sure,” Ashlyn started to run off towards the bridge, “But I have an idea!” The paladins looked at each other before chasing after her. They all entered the bridge, coughing and waving their hands around to clear the dust. “Alex!” Ashlyn cried as the man struggled to get up. Ben and Tyler rushed forwards and helped him up. “The crystal!” Taylor pointed out. The dust cleared more, revealing a unconscious Logan. “Logan!” Aiden rushed forwards with Taylor to check on the green paladin, “Logan?” The unconscious boy groaned as Aiden turned him over, Logan! We need to get Logan to the infirmary,” Aiden told Ashlyn. “Without the crystal, the Castle has no power,” Ashlyn looked scared. “He doesn't look good,” Taylor frowned.
The King of the arusians ran into the bridge, “Lion warriors, our village is under attack! We need help!” “Let's get to the lions,” Tyler shifted all of Alex’s weight over to Ben.
“You can't,” Ashlyn stopped him, “They're sealed in their hangars. There's no way to get them out,” “We're defenseless,” Alex coughed.
“Will you not help us?” The King Arusian asked. “We'll help you. We just…” Tyler told him, Logan groaned. “This is bad,” “We have to get a new crystal to get the Castle working again.” Ashlyn put her fist into her palm. “But, to get a new crystal, we need a ship,” Ashlyn furrowed her brows.
“The pod Logan was loading, we can use that! He told me that he left the bay door open.” Alex’s eyes light up like a light bulb, “I can use the scanner in the pod to see if there's a Balmera nearby. Ben, you come with me,” Alex pulled away from the yellow paladin’s support. “I'll need someone big to help me carry the crystal,” “A Balmera?” Taylor asked, taking in Ben’s confused look.
“It's where the crystals come from. I'll tell you about it on the way! Come along!” Alex and Ben took off down the hallway, Taylor furrowed her brows before chasing after them to make sure they got in the pod safely. “Aiden and I will head down to make sure the Arusians are okay and take care of the threat,” Ashlyn decided. “And I’ll stay here with Logan and make sure he’s okay,” Tyler offered. Ashlyn and Aiden nodded before running off down the hall to get to the village.
——— “It's our first bit of luck.” Alex said, pointing at the scanner on the pod, “There's a source not too far. We won't need a wormhole to get there, thankfully,” “Looks like Logan made some modifications to the pod,” Taylor pointed inside. “This one looks like cloaking device. This one looks like tank of booster fuel,” She pointed at both of the modifications Logan added. “Using that mid-flight would turn the whole pod into a bomb!” Alex turned to Taylor, offended. Ben gave Taylor a silent worried look. “Okay then… maybe don’t use that one?” Taylor chuckled to lighten the mood. “Be safe you two,” Taylor looked worried as she stepped away from the pod. “And good luck.” “We will. And thank you, Taylor,” Alex assured her before the pod took off. Taylor sighed before walking off to the bridge again. Phantom looked at her and whirled before following. ——— Tyler walked down the main hallway, “Hang on, buddy.” He told Logan, who was slung over his shoulder. “Help is on the way,”
Tyler pressed on, his grip firm around Logan's limp body. Every step echoed through the metallic corridor, a stark reminder of the dire circumstances they found themselves in. He glanced down at Logan, his face pale and slick with sweat.
"Stay with me, Logan," Tyler murmured, his voice barely a whisper in the tall hallway. He stopped in his tracks as a figure appeared in the doorway. “Charlie,” He growled at the Galran solider who entered with what was left with his crew. “Stand aside,” Charlie demanded. Tyler laid Logan down on the ground gently before making sure he was out of the way. “No. You're not getting in,” “Yes. I am,” Charlie assured Tyler before flinging himself at the paladin to fight.
Tyler braced himself for the impact, muscles tense and ready. He dodged the first swipe, retaliating with a powerful punch that caught the Galran solider off guard. They grappled fiercely, their violent dance sending echoes down the hollow corridor.
As soon as Tyler got the upper hand, a voice rang out. “Let him go or your friend won't make it!” Charlie’s second in command, Hudson called out, two centuries pointed their guns at Logan’s unconscious face. Tyler faltered for a moment and gave Charlie the opportunity to knock him out. ——— Ashlyn and Aiden ran up to the arusian village, “What's happening?” Ashlyn asked the king. “Look! Attackers!” The king pointed at the middle of the village where some centuries were standing around. “I'll go in for a closer look.” Aiden said, sliding down the bank into the center of the village “Stay here with them,” He instructed Ashlyn. “Aiden!” She called after him. “Don’t worry I’m durable!” Aiden told her before jumping down into the village. He carefully approached the village homes and took a peak at the centuries. One tipped over and crashed. “What?” It was a trick. “Oh, no,” Aiden’s eyes widen before turning on his helmet. “They tricked us!” He told Ashlyn over the comms, “It was just a diversion to separate us and thin the Castle defenses!” He ran back to her and the two immediately started to book it back to the castle. But just as they were starting to get close, the particle barrier started to activate and go down. They started to run fast but they were too late. Both of them slammed their bodies into the particle barrier. “We're too late.” Aiden banged his forehead into the barrier in frustration. "Damn it," he hissed under his breath, pounding a gloved fist against the solid energy field.
“No! They have control of the Castle. They're taking Voltron!” Ashlyn sobbed, hitting the particle barrier repeatedly.
“Can we break through the barrier?” Aiden asked, looking around at the barrier. “No.” Ashlyn shook her head, “And whoever has taken the Castle has a crystal, which means they'll be able to fly the ship. We have to stop them,” “Uh… how are we going to do that?” “Aiden, can you hear me?” Taylor called through the comms.
“Taylor, is that you? Where are you?” “I'm inside the Castle. Charlie has taken over and he's preparing for launch,” Taylor explained, bitting her lip. “He's got Logan and Tyler.” “Taylor, listen.” Ashlyn interrupted, “If they've started the launch sequence, then we don't have much time before liftoff to stop it.” “What do I have to do?” Taylor asked, her voice barely a whisper. She reached up and pulled Phantom down as it started to float towards the bridge where Logan and Tyler were being held.
“You have to get down to the main engine control panel and disconnect the primary turbine from the central energy chamber.” Ashlyn instructed, “If you can do that, Charlie will have to reset the whole system. That might give us enough time to find a way to stop them,” “On it,” Taylor whispered before quietly running down the hallway with Phantom on her trail. ——— Alex and Ben approached the Balmera, “Is this the Balmera planet with the crystals?” Ben’s phone asked.
“It's not a planet. Balmera are ancient animals. Petrified, but still alive.” Alex explained, “Their bodies naturally create the crystals that help power mini Altean ships. I often accompanied my grandfather to visit these majestic creatures when he was building the Castle of Lions. I'll never forget the first time I saw the sparkling surface of a Balmera. You're in for quite a treat.” They broke the atmosphere of the Balmera only to see if covered in Galra mining equipment. “Oh, no. This is horrifying. The Galra have turned this into a mining colony! They're completely destroying it! They have no regard for the poor creature!” Alex frowned, just as they were spotted by a galran fighter ship.
“Hailing unidentified craft. State your ship ID, entry code, and landing destination,” The galran solider instructed. Ben gave Alex a panicked look.
“Just stay calm.” Alex hushed before turning on the radio. “We don't really need to land. Uh, we're just looking around, if that's okay,” “Unidentified craft, land immediately and prepare to be boarded.” The galran solider instructed.
“Okay. Thank you. See you down below,” Alex turned off the radio before kicking up the pod’s gas and flying it into one of the many deep caverns of the Balmera.
The ship shuddered as it entered the cavern, lights flickering. Ben's hands tightened around his phone as he braced himself against the sides of his seat. His fingers flew across his phone screen, a soft robotic voice echoing his typed words, “Alex?” “Not done yet. Hang on!” Alex prompted before pressing the controls forwards and shooting down the Balmera cavern more.
The pod wing crashed into a piece of the galran mining equipment and sent a shower of sparks into the air, illuminating the darkness of the cavern. A deafening sound filled the tight space, reverberating off the stone walls. “Hold on!” Alex shouted over the noise as he wrestled with the controls, attempting to stabilize their rapid descent.
As soon as they landed, Ben turned to glowing eyes in the nearest cave. He quickly typed out something on his phone, “Alex, what lives at the bottom of these mines?” ——— Taylor grunted as she pulled open the doors of the turbine. Phantom floated in before she jumped inside. “Okay, Ashlyn, I'm near the turbine.” She glanced up at it. “I think it's started.” “Then you'll have to hurry. Cross the catwalk to the main column in the center,” Ashlyn instructed.
“Okay,” Taylor said, her voice echoing through the turbine chamber. She turned her jetpack on and flew over to the control panel. “Now, open the hatch. Find the central computer control hub and enter the following sequence,” Ashlyn continued, her voice echoing through the radio with a steady pace that belied the urgency of their situation. “Wait, wait, wait, wait! Which one is it? All the labels are in Altean!” Taylor groaned, “I can't tell which one it is! Ashlyn? Ashlyn? Uh…” Meanwhile outside, “Taylor? Taylor!” Ashlyn turned to Aiden, “I've lost connection with Taylor!” The ship started to rumble. “Oh, no! It's taking off!” Taylor looked at the wires in the control panel. She summoned her bayard and looked in between the wires and the weapon. “Welp, whatever.” Taylor shrugged before slamming her bayard into the mass of wires. The control panel lit up like a Christmas tree, an array of colors flashing as alarms blared before the turbine shut off. ——— Tyler groaned as the Galran soldiers started to panic around him. “The main engine just shorted out!” Hudson exclaimed, “We have a saboteur.” “Find him and take him out.” Charlie demanded, two centuries turned and ran out of the room. “Commander Charlie, I've received a transmission generating from somewhere inside,” Hudson played the audio.
“There's not much time before they get the ship running again. You must shut off the particle barrier so we can get in.” Ashlyn’s voice rang out through the bridge. Tyler grunted slightly at the sound of her voice. Taylor’s voice rang out, “You got it. Tell me what to do,” Ashlyn continued, “The particle barrier generator is beneath the main hull.”
“She's telling the intruder how to take down our defenses!” Hudson told Charlie.
Charlie smirked, “Yes, but she's also giving away his location.” He turned to the last two centuries, “Find that room. Kill the paladin. Repair the engine. Emperor Maverick has commanded us to bring him Voltron.” He turned back to Hudson, “This ship will rise before day's end,”

Bandor Appreciation Post
They did Bandor so dirty in Voltron: Legendary Defender.
You're telling me that the kid who watched his eldest brother get turned into a robeast and killed by Voltron, who was forced to rule his planet for months while his sister was repeatedly kidnapped and trapped in Lotor’s harem, who defied the Galaxy Alliance’s orders, commanded an entire fleet to help Voltron escape the Omega Comet while under fire from the forces of Doom, and still somehow found time to play wingman for Sven and Romelle—this kid gets one episode in VLD, only to be killed off just to motivate Romelle, a character they then proceeded to do almost nothing with?
He was also absolutely jacked.
Absolutely disgraceful.

love this!
So everyone noticed but during the lunch date, Pidge glanced at keith and it's just too cute...
(sorry, I had to film my TV to illustrate.....)
Tumblr media
She seemed very excited to be interviewed but then glanced at Keith and probably understood his annoyance and that he wanted both Razvi and Kinkade to leave... (She undertood that in a glance because it's kidge... They don't need words to comunicate and they proved it many times... EVEN IN EPISODE ONE SEASON ONE!)
So, after the glance, she asks if she has to mention stuffs about the robeasts and finally, she finishes speaking, seeming to have shortened her thoughts and seems more neutral than at the begining of the interview...
Im making a post about this because I used to think she was looking up as if she was thinking (like characters do in cartoons)... But maybe not, after all... Interpret it as you want!

The Original Voltron Adaptations Vs Their Original Japanese Counterparts.
Beast King Go-Lion:
Go-Lion/Voltron's backstory is that he got split due to his hubris after thinking he could take on the space goddess.
Voltron is a sentient being who lived long before time.
Voltron's title is king of the beasts.
All the pilots, save Fala/Allura, are from Earth.
All the boys are effectively in the same boat as VLD Shiro and have the gladiator backstory.
Earth is dead and gone, consumed by World War 3 by the start of the show.
Allura is canonically 16.
Raible/Coran's a strategist.
Altea/Arus's people were assumed to all be destroyed (especially the royal family), but they're all hiding out.
Allura's parents and siblings are executed by Daibazaal/Zarkon's hand while she was a year old baby. Zarkon didn't know she existed.
Hiroshi Suzuishi/Pidge is descended from Ninja.
There's so much blood and gore. People get cut in half vertically and horizontally. We get the privilege of watching people drop dead on screen with these horrifying faces and screams. Zarkon and Sincline/Lotor drink blood, too.
Honerva/Haggar has this bs called occult science.
Akira Kogane/Keith and Allura are so slowburn to the point it might not exist between them.
King Raimon/Alfor's ghost comes back from the grave to tell the paladins how much they suck.
Pidge threatens to eat the space mice twice.
Shirogane Takashi/Sven dies and and a later episode introduces his younger brother, Ryou/Sven, who was captured as a slave among others before Earth was fully destroyed.
Cannibalism
A tragic side character commits suicide at the end of an episode
Amue/Romelle's older brother is willingly turned into a robeast. Her older brother and father are both murdered by the Galra during a battle with Voltron.
Earth is completely destroyed and uninhabitable. The boys become honorary citizens of Arus.
A scene depicting Pidge's mother shows her seeing him off his mission. It's the last time he sees her.
Lotor has a dream about his mother where it suggests Zarkon had a hand in her disappearance. A flashback occurs showing us she was a good person and was killed for moral differences.
Coran's son, Saint/Garret, died as an infant while he and his mother were escaping from the castle. They are buried by a local group of people. The Galra dig up this grave to clone him.
Hys/Nanny is shot by Garret and dies.
A father-daughter bond is implied between Coran and Allura when the latter comforts the former after the Garret incident.
The Galran foot soldiers are living beings.
Romelle almost died via firing squad.
One notable robeast involved a snake like being who survived a civil massacre amongst her people and was introduced burying her deceased child. She adopts Pidge within the same episode. She dies at the end from blood loss.
Another notable side character was a sand person. Allura befriends this one by giving it her bracelet. The sand person is turned into a robeast. It's implied the sand person dies at the end, though it is unclear why.
During the final battle, Lotor sends out trapped prisoners in bubbles as bombs so Voltron can't move without killing them. Lotor also shoots them as missles. Haggar also shoots at the prisoners so Voltron can move and end Lotor's career.
Haggar's motive in helping Voltron lies in that Lotor killed Zarkon.
Haggar is Zarkon's mother.
Ryou dies fighting Lotor.
Honerva dies. Zarkon dies. Lotor dies.
Voltron: Defender of the Universe:
"We don't need clothes." Keith, 1984.
Arus is still alive, they just get attacked.
Voltron's backstory is that Haggar disguised herself as said space goddess and wrecked Voltron into five pieces.
Coran's a diplomat.
Voltron's title is King of the Robots
Galaxy Garrison exists here.
Allura grew up an only child and seldom saw her parents because they were busy.
Sven is severely injured and is, instead, sent to another planet to recuperate, but gets captured as a slave on planet Doom and thinks he's crazy.
Zarkon disrespects Haggar likes it's nobody's business.
King Alfor built Voltron.
Zarkon has a nephew
Pidge has a sister who's stated to be training as a pilot.
That same tragic side character is said to have returned to her home planet offscreen
Romelle's older brother is willingly turned into a robeast. He swims out to see in the middle of a battle with Voltron. Romelle's father in consequence goes mad and is implied to have died as a result.
Balto is ravaged by Lotor's forces. Pidge becomes an honourary citizen of Arus.
Pidge is an orphan and the scene of his mother depicts his adoption
Lotor has a dream about Allura instead. Allura's nightmare shows us she's afraid of Zarkon.
"Lotor, my beloved son, you're a nitwit." -Zarkon, 1984
Doom/Drule council.
Coran's son, Garret, and his wife are said to be alive in another dimension they were beamed to when the Galra attacked them. The clone is robotic like.
Allura when comforting Coran after the Garret incident, calls him a good man.
Lance is a country boy.
The Doom foot soldiers are robots.
Romelle was sentenced to be shot by a firing squad with stun guns.
Lotor and Haggar look for a new robeast victim among the Medusans. Audibly noting that they're all in a deep rest. That Medusan lady chooses to adopt Pidge. She also gets hurt, but it's implied she lives.
The episode about the sand people goes relatively the same way. However, the sand person is stated to be exhausted, but alive.
Sven is injured and sent back to planet Pollux to heal.
During the final battle, Lotor sends out robots in bubbles to trap Voltron. Keith can't move him because the bombs would blow up in their face. Lotor shoots them as missiles. Haggar shoots them down so Voltron can end Lotor's career.
Zarkon lives. Haggar lives. Lotor lives.
Pidge has a brother, Chip.
The same:
The Robeasts sometimes have unique tits (long, metallic, and spiky).
Lotor has three different kinds of chins and noses he alternates between.
Allura's only living relative is her aunt.

There are three planets in the Galaxy Alliance: Earth, Mira, and Sala.
Miranda Keats/Krik has telepathy.
Barros Karateya/Zandee is possibly from New York.
The cook can sing and cook.
Krik and Moya Kirigas/Cinda are Mirans.
Shota Kreutz/Wolo and Saruka Katz/Tangor are Salans.
The main fleet has spent 7 months in space.
Manabu Aki/Jeff hates spicy food.
Tatsuo Izumo/Shannon has no deeper reason to hate the Galveston/Drule other than they've been fighting one another recently.
Sim/Sandu dies as a pilot with his ship.
Wolo's brother dies.
Haruka Kaga/Lisa's singing when the force is stalled on the weather planet.
Murder
Captain Barataria/Brak kills himself.
Walter Jack/Cliff's brother's name is Jimmy.
Cliff has a magic hobby. He wants to be a member of the Magic Castle in Hollywood.
The Dairugger crew/Vehicle force sing the theme song when sending off Captain Dick Asimov/Stanley.
The planet Hawkins saw blow up was a consequence of the Galra not wanting a base to be built on that planet - Planet Apollo.
Krik on his shift as commander simply orders the teams to head to their vehicles.
The Vehicle Force are observing the artifact they collected in a previous episode with hopes and doubts the civilization survived.
Commander Hagi/Kernel Klaus dies.
Director Wakasa/Marshal Graham is peeved the people aren't taking Drule threat seriously.
Drake/Mongo dies. Teles/Hazar has a devastating reaction to it.
Graves
Krik is implied to be a prince.
Sirk/Dorma has no biological relation to Hazar and instead is his adjutant.
Hazar's father is a Homeworld secretary socrat and he's immediately dismissed from this position when Hazar returns to Galveston.
Planet Mira has flowers similar to purple orange-spotted flowers.
The Vehicle team learned space combat at the space fortress.
